Trump commutes sentence of ex-Gov. Blagojevich, pardons Kerik
[FOXNEWS] President Trump issued a spree of clemency decisions Tuesday for high-profile figures -- most notably commuting the sentence of former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Y'gotta pay to play! Blagojevich

Trump confirmed to news hounds that he's granted clemency for the ex-governor, calling his sentence "ridiculous."

"He’ll be able to go back home with his family after serving eight years in jail," Trump said.

Trump also said he's granted clemency to financier Michael Milken, who pleaded guilty for violating U.S. securities laws.

Further, Trump confirmed he has pardoned former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who was sentenced on tax fraud charges in 2010. It comes on the same day the White House announced Trump was granting a full pardon to former the Socialist paradise of San Francisco

Blagojevich was convicted in 2010 on corruption charges and sentenced to 14 years in federal prison, a sentence he has been serving at a federal prison in Littleton, Colo. Trump was considering a commutation for Blagojevich last year, but plans were put on hold amid worries over pushback.

"Many people disagreed with the sentence," Trump told news hounds on Tuesday, before turning to two individuals he's bashed during his time in office. "He's a Democrat, he's not a Republican It was a prosecution by the same people, [James] Comey, [Patrick Fitzgerald], the same group."

#3 So Blag used his public office to try to sell 50% of the representation of people in his state to the highest bidder. 14 years - how about life?

Harsh? but "Caesar's wife must be above suspicion". If you are elected to public office you must be held to a higher, not lower, standard.

#4 ..well, please tell that to all those who want to repeal the direct election of Senators. I'm looking at you Bill Whittle. Senators are suppose to represent the states. As such they should be selected by an electoral college with each sub-district, county or parish, getting one electoral vote each. Population concentrations are represented in the House not the Senate.

#6 /\ I suspect Blago and Patty are both sporting MAGA caps. On a much smaller scale of course, the Orange Man's very own 'Operation Paperclip.'

#7 Re #4. Technically you are correct but only if you draw a distinction between the various states and the citizens of those states.

#8 This was not so much about Blago being one of 7 successive Illinois governors being corrupt and thus sentenced to prison, but more to do about Obama popping off the other day trying to grab credit for Trump's economic success, who had allowed Blago to rot in prison as President.

#9 Trump also needs ex-Obama friends who now hate Obama when he starts going after the establishment Dems.

#10 Paperclip? Hmmm... I don't see Blago as another Werner von Braun.

Perhaps gathering info on Comey and perhaps Patrick Fitzgerald as well? What info could he get from Blago, Kerik, et al that Barr doesn't already have?

#11 /\ Obviously not, but he could turn out to be a valuable resource or asset for the Orange Man.
