#1 A memorandum of understanding involving Ethiopia and Somaliland’s president, Muse Bihi Abdi, on 1 January 2024 allows Ethiopia to lease for 50 years a 20-kilometre stretch of coastline in the breakaway Somali region and to establish a naval port there. In exchange, Ethiopia will become the first country in Africa to formally recognise Somaliland’s statehood. The memorandum has thus prompted a furious reaction from authorities in Mogadishu, the federal capital of Somalia, which claims sovereignty over the disputed territory.

I'll just remember the 2 SFOD-D friends I worked with, that we lost on Oct 3rd & 4th of 1993.

All because President Clinton played "The Save Africa" tune deflective politics and likely political / $$$$ kickbacks.

For What Reason did we lose so many GOOD US Soldiers and spend $$ Billions?

Given Sea Pirates, a worse economy, and the increasing starvation and intern tribal wars that killing 1000's each year.

#3 Still incredible to me. In late 1992 there was terrific starvation in Somalia. And Bush sent in the Marines to ensure that USAID food got to where it should go. He loses the election, the famine is halted, the Marines return home, and new President Clinton decides to play nation building in Somalia. No one to my knowledge has ever taken credit fort the moronic foreign policy that led to disaster.
