#1 For any GenZ reading the Burg, that is a phone receiver she has next to her ear and the cord from it attaches to dialing device which, in turn, is attached to another wire that leads to the wall.

Yes and the wire in the wall goes outside to a telephone pole with a whole lot of other wires going all over the world. Don't forget the telephone poles.
