#3 Not really needed against infantry and soft skinned targets. Daesh doesn't have many tanks.

The HE rounds they use instead are much better against the targets Daesh has.

#4 The DU rounds are for killing main battle tanks. Until Ford produces an up-armored F-150, there is simply no need.

#5 Then they will make the adjustment. The regime retards continue to feed these jihadists critical information.

#9 So instead of a mix, they are going to pure HEI loadouts. The GAU-8 will use HEI instead of API ammo (thats the DU stuff, for the armor penetration). No big deal considering the class of targets they are seeing - they probably were doing this as a matter of course and cost effectiveness. Non-hardened targets make the API-DU rounds a less effective since they tend to fly right thru them (techicals and people and most of the houses there). HEI will instead blow up. HEI is what you tend to see in most of those A-10 vids where they kill terrs. Check out the explosions at impact - its a giveaway.

#11 First there is no need to use depleted uranium rounds when there are few tanks available to Daesh and other munitions for the ones they do find;
Secondly and more importantly, it's in extremely poor taste and not very smart to subject the Kurds and others friendly to the U.S. to the known birth defects that result from depleted uranium getting into drinking water or entering the body through other means.

#13 They should announce though that the A-10's are firing "Pork-Enhanced" HE-I ammunition:p For that extra special zing.

#14 "As with asbestos and other carcinogenic materials, people exposed to the resulting dust or fumes—by breathing it in, eating contaminated food or drinking polluted water—might be in danger of developing serious health problems."

Here comes an A-10, not a good sign for your neighborhood. You are worried about diarrhea from contaminated ground water? I'd be more worried about becoming groundwater ...

#15 I agree with Beau. If you survive an A-10 attack with most of your body parts intact and still attached, you've had a very good outcome. Dying of cancer 20 years later is not an immediate concern.

Never let the perfect become the enemy of the good.

#16 "Pork-Enhanced" HE-I ammunition

Has that wonderful 'Good Morning' smell when exploding, too.
