#1 Questions for the professors of Rantburg U:

First, what sources do you recommend for learning more about tensions in Thailand and Burma? Michael Yon has posted some good information and some gut-wrenching photos. Any other suggestions?

Second, I'm having trouble using the "search" feature on the Burg to look up previous postings on these matters. I don't know whether your search engine just doesn't like my machine, or if I'm typing something wrong.

#2 I don't know. I'd have to start picking out a couple chapters each out of about a dozen and a half books.

Keep in mind a lot of the problems date back to the departure of England and France as colonial powers, and their eventual replacement by Russia and China as colonial overlords of the area.

#3 I'm not well informed about the background and have no recommendations there. The newspaper that seems to have the best, most detailed reporting in the region is the Bangkok Post (as I used for this post). I'd mention Yon's posts on Twitter and Facebook, but you're already aware of him.
