#1 To a certain extent, that is true. Iran is a HUGE country, much larger than Iraq, and it is very rugged.

Iran is slightly larger than Alaska. Only the most ruthless invader could take it. You would have to go back to carpet bombing cities and breaking their will to resist. Their military could be defeated but under today's politically correct rules, they could never be occupied.

Now if you are willing to carpet bomb them for several years and kill an entire generation of their population like in the world wars, yeah, anything is possible.
