#1 Article: "It may get so bad that we do not have that option, and (the only) option we have available to us is to withdraw and try to contain the civil war inside Iraq," Biden said.

I think all the lefties (and some conservatives) are expecting al Qaeda to win in Iraq after an American withdrawal. As far as I'm concerned, though, al Qaeda and the Baathists have lost. The only thing still left in the air is who delivers the coup de grace - Uncle Sam or Iraq's Shiites. If Uncle Sam leaves, the big question is what happens if the Shiite majority wins by killing hundreds of thousands of Sunnis (given that they are probably much less squeamish than Uncle Sam). Do the Democrats blame Bush?

#2 Do the Democrats blame Bush?

Do you need to ask?

#3 "It seems he actually paid attention to the briefings."

More likely Slow Joe is paying attention to polling data.

So the neocons got to you, eh, Mr. Biden? How much did Rove pay you to say that?

#5 Maybe he plagiarized the wrong crib sheet.

#6 The Dems have gotta be worrying about the possibility of the tide really turning.

At some point, they have to be prepared to say, "Well, the Democratic pressure for accountability, and the removal of Rumsfeld, and other changes inspired by the Democrats, have finally overcome Bush's sad, mismanaged, ill-conceived war, and our brave fighting lads and lasses just might have a chance to triumph over our enemies.

Just as I predicted."

#7 withdraw and try to contain the civil war inside Iraq

??? Aren't these two actions mutually exclusive? ???

#8 Considering that it's as much a proxy war armed and financed by Saudi Arabia and Iran as it is a civil war? The honourable senator isn't the sharpest knife in the block -- I wonder if he hasn't quite gotten as far as scissors, actually -- but at least he's trying to recognize and respond to external reality.
