#1 This is actually a big deal, given the players involved. Malaysia is real touchy about its sovereignty, and the region has long memories regarding Japan. I notice Indonesia is still playing wallflower.

Authorities in some Asian countries have also been stepping up anti-piracy cooperation in recent years due to fears of possible maritime terror strikes in the strait.
