Homeless asked to leave camp after man is severely beaten near Seattle nightclub
[Komo News] SEATTLE -- Standing in the grassy median, between Interstate 5 and a strip of businesses on the edge of South Lake Union Friday, residents of a homeless encampment were told it was time to leave.

Two Seattle police officers talked to residents "Austin" and "Kayla" about where they could go. Kayla said she was told an attack just outside the camp was the "icing on the cake" for the encampment.

"One stupid mistake and we’re all getting punished for it," said Kayla, who declined to give her last name.

A man was beaten with a baseball bat after a confrontation with a resident of the encampment Wednesday night, according to a Seattle police report.

The suspect in the attack was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of false reporting, a misdemeanor. Kayla said the man gave police a fake name when he was arrested.

A department spokesman said the case is under investigation.

Cherry Cash told KOMO Friday that she and her fiancée Ryan Georg were outside El Corazon, a nightclub in South Lake Union, when she heard yelling. She said some men from the encampment "ran to get caught up with us and chase us down with a baseball bat ready for blood."

London police target ‘moped bandits' by driving into them in new crime-fighting tactic (opens to smashing video)
[FOX] London police say their tough tactic of ramming violent "thieves" off their moped as they flee has helped bring down crime in the city.

Scotland Yard released a video Friday showing a team of specially trained drivers knocking suspects off their mopeds and motorcycles, saying offenders will be targeted "at every opportunity."

"Offenders on mopeds and motorcycles who attempt to evade the police are making a choice that puts themselves and others at risk," Commander Amanda Pearson said in a statement. "So our message is clear: we can, we will, and we do target those involved in moped and motorcycle crime at every opportunity."

The video shows police pursuing several suspects across London, many time ramming into them and knocking them off their bikes.

POTUS demands bipartisan border deal: 'Fix the Border, for once and for all, NOW!'
[Washington Times] President Trump on Friday pushed Congress to strike a bipartisan deal to strengthen border security that includes funding a border wall.

"Republicans and Democrats MUST come together, finally, with a major Border Security package, which will include funding for the Wall. After 40 years of talk, it is finally time for action. Fix the Border, for once and for all, NOW!" Mr. Trump tweeted.

Democrats have fiercely opposed Mr. Trump’s plan for a wall on the southern border, which was a top campaign promise of his 2016 run.

The call for bipartisanship to address illegal immigration followed Mr. Trump’s threat a day earlier ‐ on Thanksgiving Day ‐ to shut down the "whole border" with Mexico if needed to stop a U.S.-bound migrant caravan.

"We’re either going to have a border or we’re not," Mr. Trump said Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, where he spent the holiday.

Tijuana, Mexico, declares humanitarian crisis upon arrival of migrant caravan
[Washington Examiner] The mayor of Tijuana, Mexico, declared an international humanitarian crisis Thursday for his city after about 5,000 Central American migrants traveling in a caravan descended on the U.S. border.

Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum made a public appeal during a Thursday press conference for help from the United Nations in the absence of adequate assistance from the Mexican government and his reluctance to allocate his city's own public resources to counter issues created by the sudden influx of people, according to the Associated Press.

The Baja California state government, which covers Tijuana, has also sought federal government aid. The state government has so far directed resources into the nearby city of Mexicali to alleviate the pressure placed on Tijuana, the Arizona Republic reported.

Most members of the migrant caravan, many of whom are from Honduras, embarked on the journey to seek asylum in the U.S. at Southern California ports of entry.

Gastelum's declaration comes after President Trump threatened on Thursday to close the southern border if the migrant situation worsens. It also follows White House chief of staff John Kelly signing a "Cabinet order" giving U.S. troops stationed at the border permission to carry out some law enforcement tasks and use force.

Gowdy wants information on Ivanka Trump's use of personal email, sets December deadline
[FOX] Outgoing House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., sent a letter to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly demanding information on Ivanka Trump’s reported use of personal email.

The letter, obtained by Fox News, follows the Washington Post report claiming that Trump sent hundreds of emails about White House business to contact "White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistant," an apparent violation of the Presidential Record Act. The report does not indicate if the emails contained any classified or sensitive government information.

Gowdy said in the letter that Trump’s use of personal email may "implicate the Presidential Records Act and other security and recordkeeping requirements," and set a Dec. 5 deadline to respond to the request for more information.

"In light of the importance and necessity of preserving the public record and doing so in a manner that is reflective of relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, the Committee must assess whether the White House took adequate steps to archive Ms. Trump’s emails and prevent a recurrence," Gowdy wrote in the letter.

Archbishop of Canterbury Declares God Gender Neutral
[Breitbart] Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby has said that God is "not male nor female," after female bishops demanded the Church of England stop referring to God solely as "he."

The head of the worldwide Anglican communion told attendees at a lecture at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square: "All human language about God is inadequate and to some degree metaphorical.

"God is not a father in exactly the same way as a human being is a father. God is not male or female. God is not definable.

"It is extraordinarily important as Christians that we remember that the definitive revelation of who God is was not in words, but in the word of God who we call Jesus Christ. We can’t pin God down."

Professor of Christian history Diarmaid MacCulloch backed Archbishop Welby’s statement, telling The Times that the reason God has been perceived as male is due to "patriarchal assumptions" of early Christian societies of Greece and Rome.

Karachi attack: Four killed as gunmen try to storm China consulate
[BBC] Gunmen have killed at least four people in an attack on the Chinese consulate in the Pakistani port city of Karachi.

Gunshots were heard at about 09:30 local time (04:30 GMT) outside the consulate in the upmarket Clifton area. Police shot dead three attackers.

Separatist militants who oppose Chinese investment projects in western Pakistan say they carried out the attack.

In another incident on Friday, at least 20 people were killed in a bomb attack in north-west Pakistan.

The blast occurred in a mostly Shia neighbourhood in Orakzai district. Police say a suicide bomber on a motorbike drove into a crowded marketplace.

Pakistan's Shia minority has often been targeted by Sunni extremists.

WHAT HAPPENED IN KARACHI?
Three gunmen tried to enter the consulate but were stopped by security guards at a checkpoint, reports said. Two of those killed in the attack were police officers.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a blast, and local TV channels broadcast images of a plume of smoke. There is a heavy police presence in the area which has been cordoned off.

All the staff inside the consulate are safe, China said. The Foreign Ministry in Beijing called for extra measures to protect Chinese citizens in Pakistan.

"At the same time we mourn the deaths of the Pakistani police and think of their families at this time," a spokesman said.

A separatist group, the Balochistan Liberation Army, said it carried out the attack. It is one of a number of separatist groups operating in the restive province, which has seen a long running nationalist insurgency.

"We have been seeing the Chinese as an oppressor, along with Pakistani forces," a spokesman for the group told the AFP news agency.

Over the years construction projects and Chinese workers in Balochistan have been repeatedly targeted by militants but this is one of the most prominent such attacks to date.

WHAT IS CHINA DOING IN BALOCHISTAN?
Balochistan is at the heart of an ambitious Chinese project, the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is a string of huge investments by China in Pakistani infrastructure seeking to link its western Xinjiang province with the Arabian Sea port of Gwadar in Balochistan.

As China is such a close ally to Pakistan and has poured billions into the nation, this incident will deeply concern authorities who have described this investment as a "game changer", says the BBC's Secunder Kermani in Islamabad.

Balochistan itself is a sparsely populated region, rich in gas and coal reserves, as well as copper and gold.

Yet it has remained Pakistan's most impoverished area and Baloch nationalists have long accused the central government of exploitation and denying the province its due rights.

Pakistan rejects India's allegation of its involvement in Amritsar blast
[Times of India] ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday rejected allegations of its involvement in the Amritsar terror attack in which three people were killed amidst Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's accusation that the grenade used was similar to the ones being manufactured by the Pakistan Army.

Singh said that the grenade attack, in which three people were killed and over 20 injured, seemed to carry Pakistan's signature.

Initial investigations indicated that the "grenade used was similar to the ones being manufactured by the Pakistani Army Ordinance factory," he said.

Pakistan's Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Faisal rejected Singh's allegations in his weekly press briefing.

"Pakistan categorically rejects these allegations. India is a serial alleger and it has become its second nature to blame Pakistan for any negative development without blinking an eye," Faisal said.

Dust, snow, wind and fire: massive weather system hits eastern Australia
[Guardian] A massive weather system that threw a blanket of dust over Sydney threatened to generate more unusual conditions across New South Wales and Victoria, with homes at risk in the Hunter from a fast-moving bushfire, flights delayed due to strong winds in Sydney and freezing temperatures in the Snowy Mountains.

The Bureau of Meteorology on Friday issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds over the state’s southeast ‐ stretching from the Victorian border up to the Hunter region.

Gusts of more than 90km/h were expected, with possible blizzards in the Alpine areas.

Flights were cancelled and delayed at Sydney airport and air quality was expected to remain poor in Sydney for another day.

Stronger-than-expected winds whipped up a fast-moving bushfire in the Hunter region, putting dozens of homes near Newcastle airport under threat.

[Defense Blog] Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko visited the training center of the airborne troops of airborne troops in Zhytomyr region and congratulated the military on the Day of the Airborne Troops.

"Ancient and recent history taught us that the most reliable guarantee of our Ukrainian state independence and security of Ukrainian citizens is our army. These are people in uniform, professional, patriotic, courageous defenders of the people and the state," the Head of State emphasized. He added that these are soldiers who over the past four years literally resurrected the Ukrainian Armed Forces, brought them out of ruins, learnt to fight and win. "Therefore, every visit to the military is not only a demanding test of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, but also a very good opportunity to express gratitude to you, dear warriors, for your military service from all Ukrainians," the President said.

"The repelling of Russian aggression has clearly demonstrated excellent professional and moral-psychological training, patriotism and high moral qualities of the units of the airborne troops," the Head of State remarked. For courage and heroism demonstrated in the battles with Russian invaders, more than 7,000 paratroopers were rewarded with state awards and honors from the President of Ukraine, while twelve servicemen were granted the highest state award ‐ the Golden Star of the Hero of Ukraine. "Unfortunately, the war is not only a victory. 487 "winged infantrymen" did not return from combat missions and were killed in fierce battles with the Russian aggressor. Eternal memory and eternal glory to them," the Head of State noted. The attendees honored the deceased with a moment of silence.

The President thanked the defenders for being loyal to military duty and oath and wished them good health, the invincibility of spirit and new successes and victories for the good of Ukraine.

Switzerland to vote on whether to save cow horns
[euronews] Switzerland will vote Sunday on whether to subsidise farmers who let their cows' and goats' horns grow naturally.

The referendum on preserving the ’dignity of livestock’ was started by farmer Armin Capaul. When political lobbying failed, he collected over 100,000 signatures to trigger a national vote.

He wants a 190 Swiss franc annual subsidy per horned animal for farmers.

Capaul said horns help cows communicate and regulate their body temperature. His campaign has gained support from those who oppose dehorning ‐ which involves burning a sedated calf's horn buds with a red-hot iron.

Critics said it is painful and unnatural. However, some argue it is harmless, including veterinarian Jean-Marie Surer. Capaul said it is over in seven seconds and a cow may suffer some pain after the sedative wears off.

The government has opposed the initiative.

It says it would drain 30 million francs from its 3 billion franc agricultural budget, and is a burden on the constitution. Some farmers are also opposed to it, arguing that cows must be able to move around freely, and keeping their horns would require more space.

"Our current system in the stable has advantages, the cows get along better with each other.

"If cows have horns, the danger of injuries to the animals and humans is greater," said Stefan Gilgen, whose 48 cows provide 1,000 litres of milk daily.

"We have other problems in agriculture. It should be up to each farm manager to decide whether to keep the horns or not," he said.

Three-quarters of Swiss cows are dehorned or genetically hornless.

Khashoggi killing: France imposes travel ban on 18 Saudi citizens
[Aljazeera] France has imposed a travel ban on 18 Saudi citizens linked to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and said more sanctions could follow depending on the results of investigations.

France's foreign ministry did not name the individuals but in a statement released on Thursday, it said the move was in coordination with European partners, notably Germany which, on Monday, banned 18 Saudis and moved to halt all arms sales to Saudi Arabia.

"The murder of Mr Khashoggi is a crime of extreme gravity, which moreover goes against freedom of the press and the most fundamental rights," the ministry said in a statement.

The bans bind all members of the European Union's passport-free Schengen zone, the statement said before adding that France expected a transparent, detailed and exhaustive response from Saudi authorities.

"These are interim measures that may be reviewed or extended depending on the progress of ongoing investigations."

POTUS points to ‘vicious' world in discussing writer Jamal Khashoggi 's death
WASHINGTON (AP) ‐ President Donald Trump disputed that U.S. intelligence officials had concluded that the de facto leader of American ally Saudi Arabia ordered the killing of a U.S.-based journalist critical of the kingdom’s royal family.

Citing vehement denials by the crown prince and king that they were involved, Trump said Thursday that "maybe the world should be held accountable because the world is a vicious place. The world is a very, very vicious place."

Critics in Congress and high-ranking officials in other countries are accusing Trump of ignoring human rights and giving Saudi Arabia a pass for economic reasons, including its influence on the world oil market.

Trump said this week he would not impose harsher penalties on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman over the death and dismemberment of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul last month.

"My policy is very simple: America first, keep America great again and that’s what I’m doing," Trump told reporters after a Thanksgiving Day telephone call with members of the military.

The crown prince and his father, King Salman, said they did not commit "this atrocity," Trump said.

Tensions rise at U.S.-Mexico border as migrants, holiday travelers wait to cross
TIJUANA (Reuters) - Hundreds of Central American migrants in Mexico massed on Thursday around a tense U.S. border crossing, where security measures held up long lines of Mexicans headed to Thanksgiving gatherings on the other side of the frontier.

With few belongings, and many of them with children in tow, the migrants set out for the crossing from the baseball field in the Mexican border city of Tijuana where they have been camped out. Around 6,000 migrants who have trekked across Mexico in a caravan in recent weeks are now crammed into the field.

They arrived at the Chaparral border crossing, opposite San Diego, California, and said they would wait there until they could request asylum, in spite of growing U.S. measures to tighten the border.

"We are already desperate, last night it rained and we all got wet. There is no room left. We are all sick. My children have a cold ... and nobody has come to give us help," said David, a Honduran who only provided his first name.

Earlier on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he had authorized the use of lethal force on the border and warned that the United States could close the whole frontier.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Reminder: White Liberals Hate Living in Black Neighborhoods
[American Thinker] Chris Hayes the liberal talking head says he's afraid of black people. By saying it, he joins the ranks of Ta-Nehisi Coates, who wrote a whole book about it; Jesse Jackson, who worried out loud that one of them was going to mug or murder him; Al Sharpton, who left blackville the second he had the chance; James Baldwin, who told us to love Americans and then exiled himself to France; Barack Obama, who lives in alabaster Kalorama and sent his kids to white schools; and Maxine Waters, who got so rich riling up her constituents that she was able to move away from them.

Black celebrities aside, one thing you never see a white liberal do is move into a black neighborhood. Chris Hayes won't because he's already lived near one, and he says he hated it. White liberals have a list of reasons they avoid them ‐ not getting punched in the face again, in Chris's instance. Rate of crime. A superior level of order. Cleanliness. Proximity to the businesses they actually work at. That kind of thing. It isn't white supremacy when liberals do it, though, because they aren't considered white supremacists. They're telling you they're scared, but they're also beating their chests. They love black people. They just prefer to live anywhere but black neighborhoods.

This fact is the basis of Chris Hayes's book, A Colony in a Nation ‐ probably one of the finest books to come out of the Black Lives Matter movement, and if not the finest, then one of the funnest (my personal favorite? We Were Eight Years in Power). It covers multiple aspects of black neighborhoods and makes you want to get away from them. Then it asks you to embrace them. How anyone could describe these war zones and then ask you to bus your kids to them is beyond my understanding, but it seems to be the gist of Black Lives Matter. Your kids might be shot, but you won't be a racist.

Chris Hayes is pretty honest about all this, and he expresses himself in bouts of self-contradiction. He says "broken windows policing" is evil right before admitting, in part, that after it, "New York went from rundown and dangerous to glossy and glamorous." He wants officers hamstrung while admitting that the process led big cities to the "biggest jump [in homicides] since 1971." He says cops are too skittish around blacks while admitting that black neighborhoods are extremely dangerous for cops. He says whites ought to be less fearful of the ghetto while telling us everyone is afraid of it. He says white people are more racist against blacks while telling us "even African Americans consistently show antiblack suspicion." He says drug crime is more devastating than KKK terrorism and then asks us to go easier on crackheads. He says white people overreact to violent crime and then says their overreactions are responsible for the safety of white neighborhoods. He curses a lack of investment, and when white people invest, he rails against gentrification.

We wish this was the end, but Chris Hayes has a true knack for treachery. He says our cities ought to be more lawless ‐ as we are at our colleges. He says we ought to be more considerate with our criminals ‐ as we were with Brock Turner, the rapist (yes, he really said this). He says our criminal justice system puts undue stress on families while proving that criminals put undue stress of families. He says everyone wants a nice place for his children to grow up. Then he calls it racist when police harass junkies, prostitutes, rowdy hooligans, the mentally disturbed, loiterers, panhandlers, drunks, and people yelling in the streets. He says the crime drop since The Crack Years is "one of the most stunning statistical and sociological mysteries of our time." Then he shames "white fear" for worrying that it could all reverse.

Ta-Nehisi Coates says this book is highly original, and I agree with him. The book has to be read to be believed.

New model could show which animal diseases can cause human epidemics
[UPI] Researchers say they have developed a method to identify animal viruses that may pose a risk to humans.

The study, published in the November issue of PLOS One, spotted several viruses known to pass from animal to human and that have the potential to spread between humans.

"When we get new pathogens that we look at as new human diseases, most of the time they come from pathogens that were previously circulating in animals," said John Drake, Distinguished Research Professor of Ecology and director of the Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases at the University of Georgia. "As ecologists, that makes us think that there must be something about the ways parasites and pathogens interact with their hosts or the environment that confers the propensity to this process."

The purpose of the study was to identify diseases that could cause potential human epidemics.

Karachi Chinese consulate terror attack kills two as explosion and gunfire heard
[Express] GUNFIRE and an explosion were heard as three suicide bombers of a Pakistani insurgent group possessing hand grenades and weapons attempted to enter the Chinese consulate in Karachi, Pakistan, police officials have confirmed.

According to witnesses, the weapons were fired near the consulate in Clifton Block 4 around 9.30am local time (4.30am GMT). At least two policemen were shot dead in the attack and a security guard was wounded. Local media reported that the injured had reached Jinnah hospital.

It is not yet clear whether Chinese officials were harmed but Karachi police chief Amir Shaikh confirmed the attackers were not able to get inside the consulate.

Mr Sheikh said: "They tried to enter the visa section but did not succeed."

Pakistan's insurgent separatist militant group Balochistan has claimed responsibility for the attack and asserted that their action "is continuing".

The spokesman for the Balochistan Liberation Army, Geand Baloch, told Reuters: "There were three suicide attackers.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Victor Davis Hanson: Did 1968 Win the Culture War?
[NR] Fifty years ago this year, the ’60s revolution sought to overturn American customs, traditions, ideology, and politics.

The ’60s radicals eventually grew older, cut their hair, and joined the establishment. Most thought their revolution had fizzled out in the early 1970s without much effect, as Americans returned to "normal."

But maybe the ’60s, not the silent majority, won out after all. The world a half-century later looks a lot more like 1968 and what followed than what preceded it.

Most of the political and cultural agenda from that turbulent period ‐ both the advances and the regressions ‐ has long been institutionalized. The military draft, for good or bad, has remained defunct. There is greater transparency in politics, fewer smoke-filled rooms. Disabled children, once ostracized or dismissively labeled "retarded," are now far better integrated into society and treated more ethically as special-needs kids. The rights of women, racial minorities, and the LGBT community are now widely accepted.

Yet lifestyles have been radically altered ‐ and often not for the good. Before the late ’60s, most Americans married before having children; afterwards, not so much. One-parent households are now far more common.

They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group have killed around 100 soldiers in northeast Nigeria
... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border...
since Sunday, five security sources said on Thursday.

Islamist Death Eaters had already killed hundreds of soldiers in the region in recent months, forcing a turnaround in the course of a war which President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has frequently claimed to have won. Buhari will seek a second term in February 2019.

Earlier on Thursday, the Nigerian senate suspended its session in honour of what it said were 44 dead soldiers after an attack in Metele in the northeastern state of Borno on Sunday.

A presidency front man said the military would issue a statement.

Military spokesmen did not respond to repeated attempts to reach them for comment.

Four of the security sources said around 100 had died in that attack alone, though the corpse count was not final.

The fifth said 96 had died in the northeast in recent days, mostly in the Metele attack, but also in others.

Britain
British Spy Agency Reportedly Opposes Russian Document DECLAS
[Daily Caller] Top British spy officials are resisting a push by Republicans to declassify FBI documents related to the Russia investigation, according to a Telegraph report.

Officials with MI6, Britain’s equivalent to the CIA, have warned the Trump White House that releasing the documents could hinder intelligence gathering operations, The Telegraph reported.

Trump said he is "very seriously" declassifying a slew of FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) documents that would shed light on the origins of the FBI’s investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government.

The MI6 opposition also raises the possibility that British officials are concerned the sought-after documents contain information that could be embarrassing to the British government. (RELATED: Republicans Want Trump To Declassify A New Batch Of Russia Documents)

The Russia investigation has several links to the U.K.

Former MI6 officer Christopher Steele is one of the main sources of allegations of collusion between the campaign and Kremlin. And Stefan Halper, a longtime FBI and CIA informant, met with former Trump campaign aides Carter Page and George Papadopoulos during the campaign.

#1  Of course they object to the release. Steele and his Orbis Business Intelligence Ltd are their assets.

Excerpt from Daily Caller "Unholy Alliance" 7/09/2018 article:

What suggests continuing GCHQ involvement is the British locus of subsequent spying and entrapping activity, such as approaches to London resident George Papadopoulos by Joseph Mifsud, Sergei Millian and Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, all occurring in March through mid-May 2016. Later Stefan Halper lured Papadopoulos, Carter Page and, unsuccessfully, Steven Miller to London for more entrapping initiatives. Indeed, GCHQ chief Robert Hannigan traveled to Washington in August 2016 to personally discuss the investigation with Brennan.

We know that retired British spies stay close and loyal to their alma mater, with reciprocity, which would suggest that Christopher Steele’s retention in June 2016, by Clinton’s Fusion GPS, was likely sanctioned by GCHQ, with the approval of its partners CIA and FBI. Let’s put it this way: could Steele do what he did, seemingly exploiting CGHQ assets regarding sensitive American issues, without the explicit approval of GCHQ and its partners the CIA and FBI? Of course not.

Terror attack on Chinese Consulate in Karachi foiled; 2 policemen martyred
[Dawn] Two police officials have bit the dust in an exchange of fire near the Chinese Consulate in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
's Clifton area, DawnNewsTV reported on Friday.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Javed Alam Odho confirmed the death of the two coppers.

According to DawnNewsTV, the exchange of fire started around 9.30am. An kaboom, the nature of which has not been determined as yet, was also heard in the area.

One person, whose identity has not been ascertained, has also been admitted to the hospital at death's door, DawnNewsTV said.

Additional Inspector General of Police Dr Amir Ahmed Sheikh said that the firing has ended and the area is now being cleared by police and Rangers.

"I will be able to give you [the media] a clearer picture about what happened later in the day," AIG Sheikh said while acknowledging the efforts made by the law enforcement agencies in containing the attack.

"Police, rangers were all on duty when the attack happened. The attackers... weren't able to enter the Chinese embassy compound. Three were killed. A Bomb Disposal Squad team is checking the area for kabooms." the AIG said while reiterating that the details of the case will be shared with the media later in the day.

Defence contractor and analyst Ikram Sehgal ‐ whose guards have been posted at the consulate ‐ said that the attackers first exchanged fire with police.

"After the coppers were martyred, they proceeded towards the gate of the consulate. However,

China-Japan-Koreas
US, South Korea scale back military exercise
[AlAhram] The United States and South Korea have scaled down an annual joint military exercise scheduled for the spring of 2019 to facilitate nuclear talks with North Korea, US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on late Wednesday.

"Foal Eagle is being reorganized a bit to keep it at a level that will not be harmful to diplomacy," Mattis said, adding that it would be "reduced in scope."

Foal Eagle is the biggest of the regular joint exercises held by the allies, and has always infuriated Pyongyang, which condemned it as preparations for invasion.

But the drill -- one of the world's largest field exercises involving 200,000 South Korean and some 30,000 US soldiers -- was delayed and scaled down last year as diplomatic detente took hold on the peninsula.

And following a historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Pudge Jong-un
...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished...
in Singapore in June, US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
announced that the US would stop holding joint exercises with the South, calling them expensive and "very provocative".

Since then the two allies have suspended most of their major joint exercises including the Ulchi Freedom Guardian in August and Vigilant Ace, slated for next month.

But more recently progress in talks with the North has stalled, with the US pushing to maintain sanctions against it until its "final, fully verified denuclearization" and Pyongyang condemning US demands as "gangster-like."

Washington stations 28,500 troops in the South to defend it from its nuclear-armed neighbor, which invaded in 1950.

'FAIT ACCOMPLI'
But differences are beginning to emerge between Seoul and Washington.

The South's dovish president Moon Jae-in has long favored engagement with the North, which is subject to multiple UN Security Council sanctions over its nuclear and ballistic missile programmes.

He has dangled large investment and joint cross-border projects as incentives for steps towards denuclearization, while the US has been adamant pressure should be maintained on Pyongyang until it fully dismantles its weapons programs.

Seoul's defence ministry said Mattis' comments were in line with their shared view on the need to back diplomacy -- but a spokeswoman added that the question of whether the exercises will take place at all was "still under discussion."

Kim Hyun-wook, a professor at the South's state-run Korea National Diplomatic Academy, said reducing the exercise was largely expected.

"The Trump administration claims Pyongyang's suspension of nuclear and missile tests as the key achievement of its North Korea policy and the joint drills have been postponed as a kind of corresponding measure," Kim told AFP.

"As long as talks continue, postponing or reducing major US-South Korea joint exercises has become a fait accompli," he said.

'NO RUSH'
Earlier this month Pyongyang threatened to "seriously" consider returning to its weapons drive if Washington did not end its tough economic sanctions.

And last month, the North's state media carried a near 1,700-word commentary accusing the US of playing a "double game", implicitly criticizing Trump for comments aimed at barring Seoul from lifting sanctions against Pyongyang.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday defended Washington's strategy on the peninsula, noting that North Korea had halted missile launches and had not conducted a nuclear test in over a year.

"And I do hope there'll be a summit between the two leaders early in 2019," he said in an interview with KCMO radio.

Pyongyang has declared its nuclear and missile development complete, saying it has no further need for testing.

Trump has also said he hopes to have a second meeting with Kim early next year, but talks between Pompeo and a top North Korean official, partly to prepare for the meeting, were cancelled.

The US said the North axed the talks because they weren't ready, and Trump insisted he was in "no rush."

45 Taliban militants join peace process in Nangarhar province
[KhaamaPress] At least 45 Talibs including four of their commanders renounced violence and joined grinding of the peace processor, the local officials said Thursday.

Provincial governor’s front man Ataullah Khogyani said the forces of Evil joined grinding of the peace processor after they were persuaded the provincial intelligence, National Directorate of Security

, to renounce violence.

Khogyani further added that the forces of Evil were conducting insurgency in Momandara, Khogyani, Sherzad, Ghani Khel, Achin, and Nazian districts.

He said the forces of Evil renounced violence after reaching to a conclusion regarding the situation of the country as well as losing fighting the capabilities.

According to Khogyani, the forces of Evil also handed over five heavy weapons and 45 light weapons to the National Directorate of Security.

Speaking on behalf of the reconciled bad boys, Nabiullah and Islam said they have conducted insurgency and destructive activities for the past six years on instructions of the neighboring intelligence circles.

They also added that they were encouraged to join grinding of the peace processor after hearing to the Fatwas of the Ulemas as well as losing fighting capabilities.

The provincial government media office in a statement said nearly 300 forces of Evil have joined grinding of the peace processor due to the efforts of the National Directorate of Security during the recent months.

Iraq
Iraqi premier to reopen heavily fortified Green Zone Sunday, say sources
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi is planned to reopen the governmental district of Green Zone in central Baghdad next Sunday, sources close to him were quoted as saying on Thursday.

The announcement came just one day after the premier pledged at a press conference following a cabinet meeting to reopen the heavily fortified area very soon.

The move is expected to be warmly welcomed by the Iraqi people as the zone’s closure was seen as a symbol of the isolation of Iraq’s rulers from citizens.

The closure of the governmental area also caused considerable traffic disruption in the city of seven million people.

The 10-square-kilometer Green Zone on the bank of the Tigris River has been largely off limits to ordinary Iraqis due to security concerns since the 2003 U.S. invasion that ousted Saddam Hussein.

The zone is a home to several government buildings and foreign embassies, including that of the United States. Checkpoints and concrete barriers have for years blocked bridges and highways leading into the zone.

The government area has witnessed several protests over the past few years, demanding an end to widely-spread corruption and improvement of public services.

[IsraelTimes] Israeli official fumes over court’s repeated ’exploitation for political ends,’ as judges reject Fatou Bensouda’s decision to close case after five years

Judges at the International Criminal Court have ordered the court’s chief prosecutor to reopen for the third time her probe into the May 2010 flotilla incident, during which Israeli commandos killed 10 Ottoman Turkish citizens aboard a naval vessel that was aiming to break the Gazoo blockade.

Israel has reacted scornfully to the pre-trial chambers’s decision last week to require Fatou Bensouda to reconsider a case that she had repeatedly sought to close due to lack of gravity.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
France gave 'sensitive' intel to Palestinians during Second Intifada in 2000
[i24 News] France worked closely with Palestinian Authority during the late 1990's and 2000's, including during the Second Intifada ("uprising") against Israel, providing training and delivering "sensitive intelligence" to the PA's security services, a former officer in the French secret service told i24NEWS on Wednesday.

Speaking with i24NEWS defense correspondent Mattias Inbar on his French-language weekly Defense program, Pierre Martinet said that "France, via its secret service, trained Palestinian agents in France" and that the French government delivered "sensitive materials to the Palestinian administration via the diplomatic bag".

The diplomatic bag is an expression to describe a physical package that is used by a diplomatic mission to exchange correspondences with its home country. It cannot be officially scrutinized by another country’s border protection agencies and benefits from the same kind of diplomatic immunity as its owners. The ’bag’ can be anything, but is most often an actual suitcase.

"Unofficially we have collaborated with different [foreign] services, more notably with Palestine at different times. We worked with them on training and delivery of certain materials....through back-channel diplomacy," Martinet said.

The former secret service officer did not confirm who gave the orders to deliver the materials to the Palestinians, although he clarified that, according to the chain of command, this kind of operation had to implicate the highest levels of the French executive.

It is no secret that European powers including France, Italy, Germany, and the UK sought to strengthen Yasser Arafat during Second Intifada against Hamas, Inbar says.
In a sick, twisted way, I kind of miss Arafat.
In fact, secret diaries kept by Arafat and published earlier this year by the Italian L’Expresso magazine confirmed a long-rumored non-aggression pact between Italy and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), headed for decades by Arafat, protecting Rome from attacks by Palestinian terrorists in exchange for freedom of movement in the country for Palestinian terror factions.
Typical Europeans. All they care about is their own safety and they're willing to commit evil deeds to this end. Well, in 2000 there was hardly any Islamic terrorist threat in Europe. Appeasing Islamic terrorism certainly didn't work for them.
Martinet, who is today the director of London-based private security firm Wincorp, insisted the French dossiers were business-as-usual in international intelligence.

But he slammed the government's reliance on back channel diplomacy to prevent terrorist attacks at home as shortsighted.

"Direct prevention through counter-intelligence is crucial in stopping terrorist attacks. But in order to get faster results, we’ve relied on backchannel diplomacy. This leads to a very narrow, short-term kind of diplomacy, which will backfire," he said, drawing a direct link between terrorism in France and the actions of the French secret service in the 1990s.

Martinet revealed that "the French foreign service has a long tradition of taking different positions on and off the record," pointing as an example to French talks with Hezbollah just after the bombing of the Drakkar Army barracks in Beirut, in which 241 American and 58 French peacekeepers were killed.

"For many, it is difficult to understand that we can lead a military action on one side, and talk on the other -- it can seem almost surreal," Martinet said.

The US has now carried out 35 airstrikes this year against al-Shabaab, Africa’s deadliest Islamic murderous Moslem group.

Two airstrikes on Monday killed 37 bully boyz and one on Tuesday killed seven.

This week’s airstrikes have been carried out in Mudug region, well north of the capital, Mogadishu.

-War on Police-
Missouri City Fires Entire Police Force
[Bearing Arms] A lot of small towns don’t have precisely large police departments. My father was a chief of police for a department that, after a while, was pretty much just him, so I’ve seen it sort of up close and personal. Frankly, I suspect anyone with ties to a small town has.

Sometimes, a city will allow their department to dwindle to almost nothing as the cash-strapped community opts not to fill vacancies. What you don’t often see is the city deciding to fire their entire department, especially in a hinky manner as one Missouri town did.
The last police officer in the tiny Cass County town of Garden City was fired Monday as he arrived at the office.

"I was met by the mayor, a sheriff’s deputy and an alderman and handed termination papers," said 50-year-old Tom Albers, an 18 year veteran of the department.

The letter simply said "The City of Garden City Board of Alderman held an Emergency Executive Closed Session Meeting on November 15, 2018. Your employment with the City is hereby suspended without pay indefinitely."

November 15th was Thursday, the day after the city laid off the other seven members of the department. Albers said he was told at the time that he was being kept on as a one-man department. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Garden City Mayor Daniel Cantrell said it was Albers job "to continue to police our City." However, it is now clear the city decided to fire Albers last week and tell him about it Monday.

Perhaps the worst part is that the city is claiming that the officers won’t be entitled to unemployment benefits.

Albers said his former officers were all told they would be eligible for unemployment benefits. He said he is unsure if being "suspended indefinitely without pay" will allow him to collect unemployment.

Law enforcement in the city will now be handled by the Sheriff’s Department, at the cost of $45 per hour per deputy to cover the community. It makes you wonder how much it cost to have their department on a per hour basis.

Albers argues that the new arrangement will increase response times, which it may well do.

As for the unemployment question, my take is, never trust the employer when they say you aren’t entitled to unemployment. They rarely have your best interests at heart when they tell you that. Instead, they need to take it to a third party and let them evaluate whether or not they’re entitled or not.

I’m not going to lie, something about this whole mess stinks to high heavens.

#10  Corrupt cops deserve to be treated shabbily. They abuse our trust and give the far left something to point to.

The usual ratio of police to people is 500:1. A town this size needs 3, not 9. With 9 they find themselves idle and in danger of layoffs. So what do they do? Start fining the local population to justify their employment. "See, we generate a profit!"

Only law enforcement is supposed to enforce the laws. It's not a profit center for government. Someone likely realized this and arrived at the logical conclusion. Just pay the sheriffs, it's not only cheaper, but the sheriffs actually enforce the law instead of regarding themselves as revenue generators.

Win for the people.

#15  Up here in Michigan, a regional town of about 60,000 (Pontiac) went bankrupt a few years back, and fired their entire police and fire departments, and paid the county to take over. The county is often just as capable, if not more so, and towns need far fewer police than they need. Good riddance to them. Now at least a few won't suck up a pension and will have to get jobs that add to the economy instead of subtract. By the way, this county has over a hundred thousand people, which means that they probably won't even have to hire any extra people to handle policing in a town of under two thousand.

Israel says it uncovered West Bank Hamas cell planning major bombing attacks
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians with permits to enter Israel for medical care conveyed messages from terror leaders in Gazoo to operatives in the West Bank, Shin Bet security service says

The goal of the West Bank cells was to conduct large terror attacks against Israeli military and civilians targets at the same time as rockets and mortar shells were being fired from the Gazoo Strip, in order to challenge Israel on two fronts simultaneously, the internal security service said.
The Shin Bet security service on Thursday said it recently uncovered a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror network in the West Bank that was acting on orders from the group’s leaders in Gazoo, with plans to conduct large-scale bombing attacks against targets in the West Bank and Israel.

According to the Shin Bet, members of the various terror cells prepared to manufacture explosives and were instructed to "select crowded sites as targets for the attacks."

#1  most of the tourists that come to Iran probably are there to visit one of the Shia shrines

there is also a significant number of people who left Iran who return to visit kinfolk

the no-stamp rule would be attractive to the latter

Trump administration paying undercover informants in migrant caravan
Good.
[The Hill] The Trump administration has been paying undercover informants in the migrant caravan moving toward the U.S. border in an effort to gather intelligence, NBC News reported Tuesday, citing two Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials.

DHS has also been monitoring text messages between members of the caravan that have been sent using the communications app WhatsApp, according to NBC News.

The migrants, who are fleeing violence from their home countries in Central America, are currently moving through Mexico and toward the southern U.S. border.

DHS spokeswoman Katie Waldman, in a statement to The Hill, declined to comment on the "sources or methods" that DHS uses to gather intelligence on the migrants. But she added that it would be "malpractice for the United States to be ignorant about the migrants."

"We have an obligation to ensure we know who is crossing our borders to protect against threats to the Homeland and any indication to the contrary is misinformed," she added.

NBC News noted that DHS officials said Monday that their intelligence led them to believe that migrants were planning to rush the border at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, which is near San Diego. That prompted Customs and Border Control to close traffic lanes near that port of entry on Monday, but the influx of migrants never occurred.

[FreeBeacon] New report stirring Iran hawks on Capitol Hill, Trump administration.

A new bombshell report based on a secret trove of seized Iranian nuclear documents shows the Islamic Theocratic Republic had concrete plans to manufacture and build at least five nuclear weapons and that it was much further along in this scheme than previously known by the international community.

Iran's contested nuclear weapons program was much further along than the international community thought, according to a report based on scores of secret Iranian plans seized by Israel and publicly disclosed for the first time earlier this year.

Interior minister bans senior Hamas operative from leaving the country

According to a statement issued by his ministry, Deri reviewed intelligence materials that stated that Arnout used trips abroad to promote terrorist activities.
