Charlie Rose Is The Latest Democrat Pervert
What is it with Democrats and all this groping?
[WashingtonPost] Eight women have told The Washington Post that longtime television host Charlie Rose made unwanted sexual advances toward them, including lewd phone calls, walking around naked in their presence, or groping their breasts, buttocks or genital areas.

The women were employees or aspired to work for Rose at the "Charlie Rose" show from the late 1990s to as recently as 2011. They ranged in age from 21 to 37 at the time of the alleged encounters. Rose, 75, whose show airs on PBS, also co-hosts "CBS This Morning" and is a contributing correspondent for "60 Minutes."
Not for long - at 75, he'll 'opt' for early retirement.

The Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon
[AmericanThinker] If you're not familiar with the term "Perfumed Prince," take a look at Air Force LTG Jay Silveria, Commander of the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs.

Silveria achieved the national spotlight by chewing out the entire class over racial slurs posted on five cadets' quarters. Months later, it turned out that one of the targets was actually the perpetrator.

Here are some bullet points from a field manual.

Get the facts, before you act.

Solve problems at the lowest level.

Concede a mistake.

Praise in public, reprimand in private.

General "Knee-Jerk" violated all of them. When confronted with his error, he replied that this had to be said anyway. Apparently, he was conflating the Charlottesville protests with his own command, not to mention a likely disdain for his commander in chief.

But here we have an intelligence failure. Charlottesville may well have been a false flag operation. So was the "hoax" at Silveria's academy. Intelligence must be timely and adequate. Silveria was spot-on with time but dismally inadequate despite plenty of open source information, aka "news".

The general ranted himself into an ambush.

Wonder why we don't win wars?

Colonel David Hackworth coined the term "Perfumed Princes" to describe the leaders who sidestepped the Vietnam disaster and infested the senior ranks, playing the academic or business manager while they squeezed out soldiers on the soggy end.

But Silveria's rant went beyond careerism. Silveria ordered everyone to video his rant on their cell phones to make sure his spiel went prime-time. Everyone from Senator McCain to Joe Biden heaped the praise. The Washington Post opined, "Too bad Trump can't emulate the military when it comes to matters of race."

"Eau de Diversity" is the fab fragrance of the Perfumed Princes as required by the political elite.

Martin Dempsey, 18th chairman of the Army chief of staff, 2011-2015, persisted with the hyphenated American being our strength to the end of his career. Never mind that the attack at Fort Hood in 2009 was perpetrated by a Muslim-American Army psychiatrist-major. Of this, Gen. George W. Casey, Jr. chimed in at the time, "as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse."

The tragedy was that Hasan's behavior had been scaring the pants off his colleagues in Army mental health, of all places, for years. But they understand. Diversity comes first.

The tragedy was that the Army maintained that firing some 140 rounds in a medical processing center while yelling "Allahu akbar" was "workplace violence" until 2015, when a funding bill forced the Perfumed Princes to reclassify the incident as "combat-related." Until then, all the dozens of victims had been denied appropriate benefits and the Purple Heart, thirteen awarded posthumously.

Marine staff sergeant Joseph Chamblin was punished for having urinated on a Taliban corpse five years ago. The conviction was overturned this November, after discovering that then-general Amos had interfered in the judicial proceeding. Amos wanted this sort of thing "crushed."

Chamblin maintains that he made the incriminating video as a propaganda ploy, "because if an infidel touches the body, they're not going to Mecca or paradise." This is right out of Brigadier General John Pershing's successful tactics in the Philippines, 1909-1913, not to mention Clausewitz's concept of "the will" and of knowing one's enemy. Of course, the opponents are "diverse," or they wouldn't be at war to begin with.
Continues.

Mmmmmm-K - Bitter Hillary fantasizes about leaving Earth to be president on another planet
[TheAmericanMirror] Hillary Clinton really wants to be president ‐ even if that means blasting off from Earth to do so.
If she needs help packing, I'm up for it.
The failed Democratic candidate recently talked with Now This, a liberal online news outlet, where she pined for a presidency.

While discussing a variety of topics, Clinton envisioned leaving Earth and venturing Earth 2, where that planet faces the same issues as the actual Earth.

"We went to another planet with Hillary," the caption reads as Clinton and Now This’s Nico Pitney fired off a series of topics.

"People joke about Earth 2, where you are president," he told a giggling Hillary.

On Earth 2’s North Korea, Clinton said she would have "full on diplomatic pressure" to solve the crisis with the portly dictator Kim Jong-un.

Clinton said if she was in charge, she would be "putting as much money as it took into enforcing the laws we already have," and added she would want "universal background checks."
Any limits regarding the background checks?
After answering a question about the opioid crisis, a handler attempted to cut off the interview.

"I fear we have to end it here," a voice off camera said.

"Okay," Pitney responded.

"You want one more? I’ll be short ‐ one more. Because I like being on Earth 2," Hillary said.

Pitney then asked Clinton what she would do about Russia.

"If I had been president, or on Earth 2, where I am," Hillary said she would have an "independent commission" look into the alleged Russian "hacking" of the presidential election.
You mean like Ukraine?
"I worry about ’18. I worry about 2020 because this is the first time we’ve even been attacked and not imposed any real consequences on our adversary," Clinton asserted, ignoring moves by Congressional Republicans and the Trump administration to impose new sanctions on Russia since the election.

The L.A. Times reported in late October:

The Russian government on Friday accused the United States of displaying "hostility" as the Trump administration belatedly took the first steps toward imposing new sanctions to punish Moscow for interfering in the 2016 presidential election.

In early August, after considerable delay and with minimal fanfare, President Trump signed into law a measure that required the new sanctions, which target individuals and firms with ties to Russian defense and intelligence agencies.

Under the law, companies that "knowingly engage in a significant transaction" with people or firms on the list could be subject to U.S. sanctions after Jan. 28.
Waiting with giddy anticipation for the "Go Fund Me" page.

This Is Exactly How Slow At Running The Navy Thinks Women Are
[Daily Caller] The Navy announced Wednesday that new female recruits to the service are going to have to complete a one-and-a-half mile run in 18 minutes, seven seconds.

Male recruits will have to run the same distance in 16 minutes, 10 seconds, and if neither male nor female recruits can pass the initial test, they won’t graduate to further training at the Great Lakes, Ill., boot camp, Military.com reports.

"It’s an effort to raise the bar and develop tough, more qualified sailors during basic military training to increase the lethality of the fleet overall," Navy Lt. Sean Brophy, spokesman for Naval Service Training Command, told Military.com.

And yet, the standard is not very high, especially for women. With a pace of about 4.5-5 miles per hour, it’s possible to complete 1.5 miles in 18-20 minutes. This speed is slightly faster than a very brisk walk.

#4  '4.5-5 miles per hour' is a fast walk. Jogging (even with my advanced age and crappy hip) still would be under 15 minutes for me.

1.5 miles is about the distance to the local ice cream stand from my house and it takes me about half an hour to complete the 'journey', including purchase(s).

But even so, when the new high school gymnastics coach had us run one day, I was the slowest on the team by a considerable amount when I finished the mile run at 7:25. Thank goodness the coach decided there were better ways to improve our endurance than listening to us whine about running, which she employed with a vengeance... and we enjoyed.

Palin’s response: "I think a whole lot of people know that I’m probably packing so I don’t think there’s a whole lot of people who would necessarily mess with me."

In Lashing Out At Trump, Hillary Clinton Makes A Really Dumb Claim
[Red State] Oh, bless her heart. I’m sure she really had a point to make, here.

At least, she gave it a shot.

Hillary Clinton, still reliving the campaign and desperately clinging to her talking points, stumbled her way through some twisted defenses.

The clock ain’t turning back, Lady. Just move on. Get a hobby ‐ something that will make you happy, but this isn’t it.

Speaking of turning back the clock, the former Secretary of State, while speaking at the Clinton Presidential Center (Why is there even such a thing?) on Saturday couldn’t resist taking a jab at President Trump’s obnoxious Twitter habit. Speaking of her husband, Clinton said:
"He didn’t tweet about it, he went to work about it, and he actually got things done."
And the crowd goes wild.
This must have been quite painful. Running very low on material, she makes a nostalgic, positive reference to notional husband Bill.

Lerner, Paz say they fear physical harm from enraged public, want IRS testimony sealed permanently
[WashingtonTimes] Former IRS executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that members of her family, including "young children," face death threats and a real risk of physical harm if her explanation of the tea party targeting scandal becomes public.

Ms. Lerner and Holly Paz, her deputy at the IRS, filed documents in court Thursday saying tapes and transcripts of depositions they gave in a court case this year must remain sealed in perpetuity, or else they could spur an enraged public to retaliate.

"Whenever Mss. Lerner and Paz have been in the media spotlight, they have faced death threats and harassment," attorneys for the two women argued.

Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz gave taped depositions in a class-action lawsuit brought by tea party groups demanding answers and compensation for having been subjected to illegal targeting for their political beliefs.

The government settled the class-action lawsuit in Ohio and another tea party challenge in the District of Columbia in two agreements last month, admitting to the illegal behavior. The Ohio settlement also called for the government to pay $3.5 million to the tea party groups, according to one of the plaintiffs.

Ms. Lerner came in for particular criticism, with the government admitting she not only didn’t stop the targeting ‐ contradicting the Obama administration’s claims ‐ but also hid it from her superiors in Washington.

During the course of the Ohio case, the tea party groups filed thousands of pages of documents, but testimony from Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz was left out of the public record because of their earlier request for privacy.

Now Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz say that since the case has been settled, there is no reason for their testimony to ever become public.

"The voluminous record of harassment and physical threats to Mss. Lerner and Paz and their families during the pendency of this litigation provides a compelling reason to seal the materials," the women’s attorneys said.

They particularly blamed Mark Meckler, a tea party leader whose organization helped fund the class-action lawsuit, saying he helped stoke the threats against them by calling IRS agents "criminal thugs."

"These words matter. They have created a fertile environment where threats and harassment against Mss. Lerner and Paz have flourished," the lawyers said.

Mr. Meckler laughed when he learned about the filing.

"Four years of harassing innocent American citizens for their political beliefs, and she’s scared of a guy in a cowboy hat talking to a bunch of little old ladies at a tea party event?" he said, recounting the speech where he called IRS agents "thugs."

He said if the depositions didn’t show any bad action on her part, then Ms. Lerner should have nothing to fear from their release to the public.

"The reality is because she knows she is guilty as the day is long and she doesn’t want people to know what she actually did," he said.

"It’s hard to have any sympathy for the women. And frankly, I don’t believe she’s genuinely scared," Mr. Meckler said.

The Trump administration backs making the documents public, according to court documents, which leaves Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz fighting a rearguard action.

So far, they have had Judge Michael R. Barrett on their side. As the case was proceeding, he kept the two IRS employees’ testimony secret at their request, allowing only the lawyers involved to see the information.

Papers filed by the tea party groups’ attorneys repeatedly made reference to their testimony in documents, but it was always redacted.

The Cincinnati Enquirer, a newspaper that covers the Cincinnati office of the IRS that initially handled tea party groups’ applications and that Ms. Lerner initially blamed for the targeting, has been fighting to make her version of events public.

The paper renewed that request last month, the day the government and the tea party groups announced their settlement. The paper has argued that there is no "clear and imminent danger" to Ms. Lerner or Ms. Paz.

Ms. Lerner has refused to talk publicly about her handling of the tea party cases, even being held in contempt of Congress when she botched her assertion of Fifth Amendment rights during testimony.

But the Obama Justice Department refused to prosecute the case, saying it concluded Ms. Lerner’s assertion of Fifth Amendment rights was correct.

Under President Obama, the department, in its own investigation into the IRS handling of tea party cases, also credited Ms. Lerner with being one of the bright spots, saying she attempted to curtail the targeting when she learned of it.

But the government now says that is not true. In its settlement last month, the government says Ms. Lerner not only didn’t stop the targeting, but also hid the behavior from superiors.

Ms. Lerner has yet to comment on that settlement.

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Earth Slowing to Cause Earthquakes
[Guardian] Scientists have warned there could be a big increase in numbers of devastating earthquakes around the world next year. They believe variations in the speed of Earth’s rotation could trigger intense seismic activity, particularly in heavily populated tropical regions.

Although such fluctuations in rotation are small – changing the length of the day by a millisecond – they could still be implicated in the release of vast amounts of underground energy, it is argued.

The link between Earth’s rotation and seismic activity was highlighted last month in a paper by Roger Bilham of the University of Colorado in Boulder and Rebecca Bendick of the University of Montana in Missoula presented at the annual meeting of the Geological Society of America.

‘Year of the Woman' senators condemn sexual harassment, campaigned for Ted Kennedy
[Wash Times] Sen. Patty Murray was quick to condemn Sen. Al Franken last week after he was accused of sexual harassment, but she took the opposite tack 24 years ago with another Democratic senator dogged by accusations of lecherous behavior.

She and the four other Democratic women serving in the Senate after the widely hailed 1992 "Year of the Woman" election used their newfound clout to come to the rescue of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy as reports of drunken debauchery threatened to sink his re-election bid.

At a Boston fundraiser on Nov. 15, 1993, Ms. Murray was joined by fellow Sens. Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein of California, Barbara A. Mikulski of Maryland and Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois in what marked "the first time the five senators have traveled together on behalf of a fellow senator," according an Associated Press report.

'Most Premature Baby' Ever Born Is Now Thriving. Shouldn't This Raise Questions About Abortion?
[PJ] Last week, an article on CNN reported that, at three years old, the "most premature baby" ever born is now thriving. Born at just 21 weeks and four days gestation (possibly the earliest any baby has ever been born and survived), baby girl Stensrud is now a "fun-loving, spunky" little girl who shows no ill effects from being born so early. Her premature birth and subsequent survival without any noticeable ill effects is giving doctors hope that, as Dr. Kaashif Ahmad, baby Stensrud’s doctor, says, they will be able to push the boundaries of "how premature a baby can be born and not only survive but have a positive developmental outcome."

The news was confirmed by Debra Tate, the sister of one of his victims, who told TMZ she received a call to say he had died at 8.13am.

6 Afghan policemen killed in Taliban attack
[DAWN] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
attacked three checkpoints in the western Farah province of Afghanistan, killing at least six coppers, an Afghan official said on Sunday.

Mohammad Naser Mehri, a front man for the provincial governor, said eight other coppers were maimed in the late Saturday attack. He claimed eight snuffies were killed and at least five others were maimed in the battle.

The Taliban grabbed credit for the attack.

Elsewhere in Afghanistan, seven hard boyz were killed and two others maimed when a bomb went kaboom! prematurely in the northern Kunduz province. Mahbobullah Sayedi, a district chief, said the fighters died while trying to plant the bomb on a road used by Afghan cops.

Dozens of Afghan police and soldiers have been killed in a wave of Taliban attacks on checkpoints in Afghanistan, officials had said on Tuesday, as snuffies step up assaults on the beleaguered security forces.

Iraq
KRG FM calls on world to be pragmatic in dealing with Iraq
[RUDAW.NET] Calling out the international community for preaching democracy but criticizing the Kurdistan independence referendum, the Kurdistan Region’s foreign minister said it is time to end the One Iraq policy and approach the issue with pragmatism.

"We still don’t understand why you preach us and teach us democracy and elections," said Falah Mustafa, but when it comes to the Kurdistan Region "it’s not good for us or is not a good time."

He was speaking on a panel titled ’Rebuilding the Middle East from civil war to civil society’ at the Halifax International Security Forum on Sunday.

Noting that the Kurdistan Region has taken what has not been an easy journey from a mountain-based revolutionary movement to running a civil administration while living in a neighbourhood that "is not that friendly," Mustafa acknowledged that they are still working on building democracy.

But he noted that in Baghdad today "they think that by having elections on time, that’s democracy. But that’s only the beginning of the process."

He questioned the largely North American audience as to why they were not offering more support for Kurdistan’s attempts to build a democratic nation and instead were backing Baghdad and a united Iraq.

"These are man-made borders. These borders will change... if not today, tomorrow." Mustafa said, noting that now is the time to be realistic.

When the Kurdistan Region held a democratic exercise, voting on the right to self-determination, the world condemned it as illegal and illegitimate and Iraq reacted with force. Baghdad has taken the position "that they are victorious, winner takes all," and they want to destroy Kurdistan, he said.

The situation is now threatening to return to civil war, repeating a common cycle in the Middle East of civil war to civil society and back to civil war, he said, picking up on the theme of the panel.

"Be realistic," he concluded. "Change this One Iraq policy, you will see stability."

Syria’s al-Boukamal liberated from ISIS for second time this month
[RUDAW.NET] Syrian government forces have taken control of al-Boukamal, ousting ISIS from the border town for the second time this month, Syria’s state media reported.

The Syrian army declared the town liberated on November 9 after reports ISIS had withdrawn. Militants launched a counter-attack later that night however, retaking the majority of the area after days of fierce fighting.

Syria’s state news SANA reported the town was finally liberated on Sunday and the army’s engineering units are doing sweeping operations to de-mine the town so that civilians can safely return.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the conflict monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP that violent festivities are continuing around the town.

The Observatory reported that regime forces and their allied militias lost more than 30 soldiers in the last three days of fighting for the town and more than 50 ISIS fighters were killed, including eight jacket wallahs.

Al-Boukamal is in eastern Syria on the border near Iraq's al-Qaim.

After ISIS suffered a series of defeats in Deir ez-Zor, including the loss of their de facto capital of Raqqa, al-Boukamal was the last Syrian city the myrmidon group controlled.

With the liberation of al-Boukamal, ISIS holy warriors are expected to be hiding in small towns and villages along the border with Iraq in the Syrian desert.

US Defense Secretary James Mattis has described the Middle Euphrates River Valley as "ISIS' last stand."

Approximately 120,000 people have been displaced from al-Boukamal in recent weeks, said Linda Tom from the United Nations

Arrested Ansar al-Islam militant confesses to killing blogger Avijit Roy
[Dhaka Tribune] A suspected member of Ansar al-Islam, involved with the murders of writer and blogger Avijit Roy, LGBT rights activist Xulhaz Mannan and Jagriti Prakashani publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan, has been tossed in the slammer
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested Mozammel Hussain alias Saimon from Baunia Badaldi road area in Dhaka around 4:30pm on Saturday.

In a statement, police said Saimon’s organizational name was Mozammel and he is the chief of Ansar al-Islam’s Intelligence and Media Wing.

Saimon, while giving a statement to a Dhaka judge under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Sunday afternoon confessed of being a member of the eight-member assassin team that killed Avijit, sources in court told the Dhaka Tribune.

Saimon said he had led three of the eight in carrying out reconnaissance on Avijit while the other four were tasked with the murder.

Court sources also said Saimon used to be a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet. The Dhaka Tribune is yet to independently confirm the information.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ahsan Habib recorded the confessional statement after CTTC unit Inspector Monirul Islam produced him before the court. The magistrate sent him to jail afterwards.

Earlier, a CTTC blurb also said that Saimon had confessed to receiving order from sacked army major Syed Zia ul Haque to take part in Avijit’s liquidation.

It also read that Saimon also confessed to his involvement with the murders of Dipan, secular activist Niladri Chatterjee Niloy, Xulhaz and his friend Khandaker Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy during preliminary interrogation.

Saimon also told police that he had been involved with all the murders carried out by his group Ansar al-Islam, according to the release.

Naturalised US-citizen Avijit Roy was hacked to death near TSC on Dhaka University campus in February 2015 while Dipan was killed in a similar manner at Aziz Super Market on October 31 the same year.

Xulhaz and Tonoy were killed in the former’s Kalabagan apartment on April 25, 2015.

Niloy, popularly known as Niloy Neel on blogging platforms and Facebook, was killed by four assailants with machetes posing as prospective tenants at his Goran residence in August 2015.

Sharif began his address with a trademark declaration of love to his audience. "Nawaz Sharif really loves you too," he told the crowd.

"Today, I am remembering 2013. The same passion was present then," he said, surveying the gathering.

The former premier, who was disqualified from public office by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers verdict, told his supporters that "no court's decision can break the ties" between him and his following in Abbottabad.

He recalled developments made by his government since 2013, including infrastructural and power projects. The Haripur motorway to Havelian will be completed shortly, he said. "I may not be prime minister anymore, but the motorway will continue being built."

Yemeni commander says battles in Sanaa district ‘will end the coup’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Yemeni legitimate forces advanced towards the Arhab District - in the capital Sanaa - after they tightened control over almost 90 percent of the Nihm district, an Al Arabiya correspondent reported.

Sheikh Mansour al-Hanq, head of the Sanaa resistance, told Al Arabiya and Al Hadath television channels that battles in the Arhab district are "decisive and will end the coup."

Addressing Yemeni citizens who were misled and forced to fight alongside the rebels, Hanq said: "The national army and resistance will do nothing but good deeds, and they will only pursue those who staged the coup."

The forces advanced with the support of the Saudi-led coalition’s air cover and the coalition’s and national army’s artillery shelling.

Maetig takes charge of inquiry into auctions as international fury grows over slave trading in Libya
"They're doing it again, effendi. Do you have the power to stop them?"
[Libya Herald] Deputy Presidency Council (PC) leader Ahmed Maetig has announced that he is taking control of the inquiry into allegations that illegal migrants colonists have been sold at auctions as slaves. In a statement, he says the investigation will lead to the arrest of those involved and of them being brought to justice.

In a separate statement, the Libyan foreign ministry says that various Libyan organizations are taking part in the inquiry.

"If the allegations are confirmed, all those involved will be prosecuted and punished," it likewise says.

The PC announced earlier this week that it would set up an inquiry following a report by CNN into auctions of migrants colonists in a number of Libyan towns. Published earlier this week, it showed video footage of an auction near Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
Following the PC announcement, Anas al-Azabi of the anti-illegal immigration agency in Tripoli suggested that an investigation had already started.

Reports of illegal migrants colonists being seized in Libya, being forced to work for no money and being sold are not new. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported this on a number of occasions. The CNN documentary, however, managed to video a sale.

World View: African Leaders Once Again Furious That They Won't Get a Climate Change Bonanza
[Breitbart] African leaders were furious at last year’s climate change conference because Donald Trump had unexpectedly won the US presidential election and said that he would pull out of the climate change agreement. Even so, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged a rapid scale-up in funding for climate change programs, especially to support developing countries. "Finance and investment hold the key to achieving low-emissions and resilient societies," he said.

So now it is a year later, and there’s another climate change conference, and African leaders are furious agai because there were plenty of promises made this week, but no commitments.

Africans claim that they are entitled to money because they are the victims of climate change. That is, the West has caused the climate change, and the Africans are suffering because of it. Augustine Njamshi from the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) says:

In general, Africa has not gotten what it wanted at this Cop23. Because the discussions that matter to us, things that matter to us have been relegated to the background and all that we’re hearing is what the developed countries want, and that is not in the interest of Africa.

...

Africa has not contributed to this [climate change] problem, yet it’s bearing the consequences in a great way, in a massive way and we don’t have the luxury to adapt to the climate change consequences, as well as we don’t even have the means to do any mitigation.

Actually, Africa has benefited enormously from carbon emissions. At the beginning of this article, there is a picture of Kinshasa, the capital city of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). You can see the skyscrapers, apartment buildings, roads, cars, and other infrastructure made possible by research and manufacturing performed by the West. If it had not been for the West’s CO2 emissions, the people of Kinshasa would still be living in thatch huts and driving around in carts pulled by donkeys and camels. Africa is as responsible as anyone else is for carbon emissions because of the enormous benefits they get.

And what would happen if a huge pot of money were given to Joseph Kabila, the president of DRC, to mitigate climate change? Where would that money go? Anyone who knows anything about what is going on in Africa knows the answer. Kabila would use the money to provide support and weapons to government militias slaughtering, raping, and mutilating thousands of people in Kasai province, where 3.9 million people have already been forced to flee their homes.

I have been writing about climate change conferences for years, and it is always been clear that they have nothing to do with mitigating any climate problems. They have only one objective: To force the United States and other western countries to pay billions of dollars to leaders of "underdeveloped" countries, so that those leaders can use the money to pay their cronies, pad their bank accounts, and buy weapons to kill their enemies. I am not aware of any proposal coming out of a climate change conference that would actually reduce carbon emissions. And the examples of Germany and Norway described above illustrate this.

However, the conference did produce some good news for African leaders. According to Chinese state media:

The usual moneybag countries have had to divert funds for anti-terror and migrant support programs at home -- and many of those terrorists and migrants are Africans. Nigeria seems to be providing a hefty percentage of new female prostitutes in Western Europe, for example. Not to mention new outlays to encourage Africans to stay home rather than wander north across the Mediterranean.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
For first time in 18 years, Jews pray at biblical tombs in Palestinian village
Golly. Bill Clinton was president back then.
[IsraelTimes] Ultra-Orthodox worshipers enter PA-controlled area near Hebron under IDF guard to commemorate biblical prophets Gad and Nathan

Hundreds of Israeli Jews held a rare prayer session by a mosque in a Paleostinian village in the West Bank early Sunday, an AFP photographer said.

The Israeli army accompanied buses carrying over 300 ultra-Orthodox men, mostly from the Breslov Hasidic sect, to Younis mosque in Halhul, north of Hebron, where according to Jewish tradition biblical prophets Gad and Nathan are buried.

One worshiper told AFP it was the first time in 18 years that Jews were allowed to pray at the site, deep in a Paleostinian-controlled area.

A military spokeswoman said the army and police forces accompanying the worshipers were attacked by Paleostinians hurling "rocks and Molotov cocktails," with the forces responding with riot dispersal means to "prevent further escalation."

No injuries were reported, the spokeswoman said.

According to tradition, the graves are located inside the mosque, but the Jewish worshipers did not enter the holy site, rather holding an hour of pre-dawn prayers on the road outside before leaving, the photographer said.

There are a number of sites holy to Jews in Paleostinian-controlled areas in the West Bank that are the site of pilgrimages. Most popular are Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem, and the Tomb of Joseph in Nablus.

US warbirds hit ISIS positions in central Libya
US fighter jets carried out on Saturday an airstrike against ISIS terrorist locations in Libya for the first time since September.

According to a US Department of Defense source, a number of terrorists were killed in the strike, reported Fox News.

The development has raised questions on the extent of cooperation or lack of it between the US and Libyan authorities before the strike was launched.

The source added that the strike was carried out in the desert in central Libya, while American circles predicted that more strikes will be staged in the future.

In 2016, the US carried out over 500 airstrikes against ISIS in the Libya city of Sirte. A strike in September of this year left 17 ISIS members dead.

Argentina intensifies search for missing submarine with 44 crew
[DAWN] An Argentine submarine with 44 crew on board was missing in the South Atlantic two days after its last communication, prompting the navy to step up its search efforts late on Friday in difficult, stormy conditions.

The ARA San Juan was in the southern Argentine sea 432 km from the Patagonian coast when it sent its last signal on Wednesday, naval front man Enrique Balbi said.

The emergency operation was formally upgraded to a search-and-rescue procedure on Friday evening after no visual or radar contact was made with the submarine, Balbi said.

"Detection has been difficult despite the quantity of boats and aircraft" involved in the search, Balbi said, noting that heavy winds and high waves were complicating efforts.

"Obviously, the number of hours that have passed ‐ two days in which there has been no communication ‐ is of note." The navy believes the submarine, which left Ushuaia en route to the coastal city of Mar del Plata in Buenos Aires province, had communication difficulties that may have been caused by an electrical outage, Balbi said. Navy protocol would call for the submarine to come to the surface once communication was lost. "We expect that it is on the surface," Balbi said.

The German-built submarine, which uses diesel-electric propulsion, was inaugurated in 1983, making it the newest of the three submarines in the navy’s fleet, according to the navy.

Baghdad Bomb and Bullet Bulletin
8 wounded in two bombing attacks
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Eight civilians were wounded in two bomb blasts that occurred on Sunday in Baghdad, security sources said.

“Five civilians were wounded as an explosive, planted near a market in Sayyed Abdullah village, Mahmudiyah, south of Baghdad, went off,” the source told Baghdad Today website.

Moreover, another security source told Alghad Press that “three persons were wounded as an IED exploded at al-Radwaniyah region, west of Baghdad.”

2 girl released; suspects detained
Baghdad (IraqiNews) Two kidnapped girls have been freed at al-Obaidy District, east of Baghdad on Sunday, the Baghdad Operations Command said.

In a statement, the command said two of the kidnappers were arrested and referred to the bodies concerned for interrogation.

Baghdad Operations Command is the security force for the Iraqi capital. It has a department specifically to combat kidnapping and track down gangs. The department has set up a kidnapping hotline for citizens to report cases. Despite these efforts, kidnapping cases continue.

Iraqi officials fear that kidnapping cases are affecting investments in Iraq, where these cases have become a threat to businesses, their employees and investors. This could lead businesses to move or avoid the country.

Democrat Fundraising Letter Tied Tax Cuts To Neo-Nazis
[DAILYCALLER] Democrats certainly don’t appear to have an issue with using fear to fundraise.

A Senate Majority PAC mailer with an enclosed letter from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower. Senate minority leader as of 2017.
tied together the Kremlin and neo-Nazis with corporate tax cuts.

"This Must Stop," the mailer says above the words, "Corporate Tax Cuts. Discrimination. Kremlin. Medicaid Cuts. Bribes. Repealing Health Care. Neo-Nazis."

The previously unreported letter was obtained by TheDC on Friday. Schumer claimed in it that Trump is turning his back on America in order to help Russia and "billionaire backers."

"Well, the president wasn’t elected to represent Moscow; he was elected to represent the American people. And anyone who puts America in danger in order to serve another nation’s interests, especially one that has been one of our greatest political adversaries over the last century, should face a whole lot more than ’great pressure,'" Schumer wrote.

The New York senator went on to write: "President Trump and his Republican ’yes men’ are dangerous to the people they are supposed to serve and the values America represents. But they are not unstoppable. Donate to Senate Majority PAC to end this power grab."

The letter was sent out after Steve Bannon left the White House in August, however, it is unclear exactly when it was mailed. Both a Senate Majority PAC front man and a Schumer front man did not respond to a press inquiry.

The Senate Majority PAC is controlled by allies of Schumer, according to Politico, and its goal is to elect Democrats to the Senate.

EU cuts Turkey funding after 'democratic deterioration'

due to the "deteriorating situation in relation to democracy, rule of law and human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
" there, according to a European Parliament (EP) statement.

The bloc will shrink the so-called "pre-ascension funds" for Turkey by 105m euros ($124m) and suspend an additional 70m euros in the 2018 budget, the statement said on Saturday.

Ankara is entitled to receive 4.45 billion euros from the EU between 2014 and 2020 in the framework of the bloc's "Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance".

The Council of the EU and the EP, the two legislative institutions of the bloc, still need to formally approve the new budget.

"Concerning Turkey, MEPs made sure to cut pre-accession funds by 105 million euros (with a further €70 million in commitments put in reserve), as they consider the deteriorating situation in relation to democracy, rule of law and human rights worrying," the statement by the EP said, referring to its members as MEPs.

Suicide bomber strips explosive vest to avoid death in Borno
[DAILYTRUST.NG] A suspectedjacket wallah'> exploding trollop female suicide bomber yesterday removed the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), strapped to her body and dumped it at a house within the neighbourhood she was supposed to attack.

It was gathered that the suspect who was supposed to carry out an attack on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, removed the vest to protect herself.

Hardliners attack Ahmadinejad loyalists at sit-in protest in Iran
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] "Revenge for Allah" militias, an hard boy hardline group in Iran, attacked officials belonging to the administration of former Iranian President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad, who is currently taking refuge at a religious shrine in Tehran.

The group reportedly carried out the attack on Saturday as a way to protest against the charges of corruption against them.

Ahmadinejad’s unofficial website, Dolat-e Bahar, published pictures and videos of the attack and reported that members of the hard boy groups were loyal to the head of the Iranian judiciary, Sadiq Amouli Larijani. They also beat supporters of Iranian former vice president, Hamid Baghaei, former media adviser Ali Junafkar, and former senior government official Habibullah Kharasani, all who have been carrying out a religious sit-in since Wednesday at Shah-Abdol-Azim shrine.

Bahrain court rejects appeal request of man who severely battered Syrian ex-wife
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Bahraini court has rejected a man’s appeal who was sentenced last month to one year of imprisonment for physically battering his Syrian ex-wife in a case that shocked the small Gulf island nation.

Bahrain’s Second High Criminal Court (court of appeals) rejected the appeal on Sunday of the 52-year-old man who brutally attacked his 32-year-old Syrian ex-wife and mother of his five children at their home in Jeblat Habshi, local Daily Tribune reported.

Zahraa Sobhy was violently beaten by her husband, Adnan al-Alawi, in September and released a message saying that it was not the first time she was physically attacked by him.

The case has turned public opinion on social media since being posted on Saturday, with many using the hashtag #Zahraa_Sobhy to discuss the prevalent issue of domestic violence in the kingdom.

Saudi Arabia Wants to Fight Iran to the Last American
[NationalInterest.org] Riyadh’s aim is to drag the United States back into the Middle East, tilting the balance back to Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Many observers have connected the dots and concluded that Saudi Arabia’s crown prince is seeking to drag the United States into a war with Iran and Hezbollah. But that’s only half the story. Looking at the recent events through a broader geopolitical lens, a much more sinister plan emerges: a Saudi plan to trap the United States in a permanent standoff with Tehran.

While most of the world has been aghast by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman’s radical actions of this past week, his conduct is only inexplicable when viewed from the wrong lens, such as the Sunni-Shia sectarian frame or the even more absurd attempt to cast this conflict as part of a greater fight against terrorism. After all, Saudi Arabia provided the seed money for Al Qaeda and openly funded and armed Al Qaeda in Syria (Jabhat al-Nusra), according to the U.S. government.

When seen from a geopolitical lens, however, the unlikely alliance between Zionist Israel and the Wahhabi House of Saud, their opposition to the Iran nuclear deal and their coordinated effort to ratchet up tensions in the region suddenly acquire a degree of logic.

German election: Preliminary coalition talks collapse after FDP walks out
[DW] Germany's Free Democrats have called off coalition talks with Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
's CDU/CSU bloc and the Greens. FDP head Christian Lindner said that after weeks of negotiations the parties could not find a "basis of trust."

While Merkel will remain acting chancellor, it remains unclear where this leaves her prospects of forming a new government.

Her conservatives could choose to enter talks with just the Greens to form a minority government.

Alternatively, she may try to convince the Social Democrats (SPD) , who were the second-biggest party in the September election, to join her to form a second consecutive grand coalition. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
after suffering a humiliating election loss in September, the SPD has repeatedly reaffirmed that its role in the upcoming Bundestag will be in opposition.

Should both options fail, then a return to the polls in the new year remains the only viable option.

Merkel said would inform President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who has the power to call new elections, on Monday of the failure of the coalition talks.

This suggests that a minority government with the Greens may be out of the question and the country could be heading for a new election.

#1  President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who has the power to call new elections

The German President does not have the power to dissolve parliament unilaterally.

An hour earlier, FDP head Christian Lindner announced that his party had walked out of the negotiations after "reached compromises were questioned again."

"It is better not to rule than to rule wrongly," he said.

This is a malicious mistranslation. Lindner's words ("Es ist besser, nicht zu regieren, als falsch zu regieren.") are correctly translated as "It is better not to govern than to govern the wrong way."

The German word for "to govern" is "regieren"; the word for "to rule" is "herrschen."

Politicians in a Western Democracy can govern but they can never rule.

Residents in Bala’ad town in Middle Shabelle region said the fighters stormed Ged Faqi on the outskirts of Bala’d and overrun the area before hoisting their flags in a cop shoppe.

"The bandidos turbans are patrolling streets in Ged Faqi and there are no security forces. They vacated the area," a resident told Xinhua. There was no confirmation from the security forces.

Somali and the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) forces early this month launched major operations in Lower and Middle Shabelle regions in what the African Union said will be sustained until the end of the year.

Somali information minister Abdirahman Omar Osman said this week the government will continue the attacks until the country is cleared of myrmidons.

The recapture of Ged Fagi comes a day after the Somali government said it has captured 19 al-Shabaab bandidos turbans in Lower Shabelle region.

13 Palestinian factions to meet in Cairo for reconciliation push
[IsraelTimes] Leading Paleostinian political factions are to gather on Tuesday in Cairo to push ahead with reconciliation efforts, despite fundamental disputes ahead of a key December 1 deadline.

The talks come as Paleostinians face rising tensions with the United States over the threatened closure of their office in Washington, but this is seen as unlikely to affect the outcome.

Tensions between the two largest Paleostinian groups ‐ Fatah and Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, ‐ have reemerged since they signed a reconciliation deal last month, but delegates hope the meeting of 13 factions could push the bid ahead.

The fate of Hamas’s vast armed wing, however, remains unclear.

UAE Violates UN Arm Embargo In Somalia
[RadioShabelle] The UAE is violating internationals sanctions on the sale of arms to war-torn countries by supplying Somalia weapons, a UN report has revealed.

According to monitors, the continuous support of some foreign countries for terror in Somalia threatens peace and security due to the possible return of piracy off the Somali coast.

The report said that it had enough proofs that a UAE ship could have been carrying illegal weapons and banned materials to Somali before it was intercepted and kidnapped.

The report noted that EU drones recorded the Emirati ship changed its route, got closer to Somali beaches, two small boats approached it and exchanged shipments with it.

In addition, the report explained that the UAE’s activities in the Somali city of Barbara, saying: "The plans to build an Emirati military base in Barbara are going on very quickly," noting that the monitors asked the UAE reports whether building the base does not violate the arms embargo, but the UAE did not respond.

The monitors said that building a foreign military base includes moving weapons to the region and this is a violation of the weapons embargo, stressing that any foreign contribution to the official Somali institution in the country must get their agreement.

Mexico says it will henceforth vote with Israel in international bodies
Interesting. I wonder what motivated the change,
[IsraelTimes] Mexico reportedly has announced that it will change its voting strategy at the UN and other international bodies by putting a stop to votes in favor of Paleostinian resolutions, reported the UnitedWithIsrael website last Wednesday.

Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Figari contacted Israeli Ambassador to Mexico Yoni Pelad and told him of the shift in strategy for upcoming voting related to the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict, Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

The declaration was made two months after Netanyahu visited Mexico during a trip to Latin America that also included Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
and Colombia.

In mid-September, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu became the first sitting Israeli prime minister to visit countries in Latin America. He met with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto in Mexico City and signed several agreements that bolster the ties and cooperation between the two countries.

In October, Mexico’s former UNESCO ambassador, who was fired last year for walking out of a vote on an anti-Israel resolution effectively denying Jewish ties to Jerusalem, was honored in Los Angeles. Andres Roemer received the Guardian of Truth and History Award from StandWithUs during a ceremony held Friday in Los Angeles, reported the Milenio news website.

I can see where this, if implemented could lead to all kinds of problems such as redistribution of income based on feelings. Why do I think of climate change?

"Maulana Fazlur Rehman studied at Darul Uloom-e-Haqqania for seven years but we don’t understand his aims and objectives," he said.

The JUI-S chief said he didn’t agree to the opinion that the Frontier Crimes Regulation was close to Islamic teachings, and rather declared it a system of brutalities.

"Tribal people are fighting a war for rights.

IDF fires second 'warning shot' at Syrian outpost
[Ynet] Day after IDF tanks fire on Syrian military position after spotting construction work along the border in violation of a 1974 UN ceasefire agreement, tanks go into action again in the northern Golan.

An IDF tank fired another warning shot on a Syrian military position Sunday evening in the northern Golan Heights, a day after another tank opened fire near the Bedouin village of Hader in Syria as Israel discovered the Syrian army was conducting construction along their border.

The IDF says Syria violated the 1974 ceasefire agreement on the Golan Heights by using heavy tools to fortify a military post in the demilitarized zone between the countries.

In response, the IDF says it complained to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
peacekeeper force station on the Golan and fired a tank shell as a warning.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot said earlier this week that the IDF had deployed tanks on the slopes of Mount Hermon to fulfill this intention of defending the settlement.

The same Israeli armored force was the one to fire at the outpost the Syrian army was trying to recapture in the strip adjacent to the border fence‐through which the car carrying an explosive charge into Hader infiltrated the village earlier this month.

3 Iraqi militia die near Rawa
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Three paramilitary personnel were killed, while five others were wounded as a booby-trapped house exploded in western Anbar, an official said.

In remarks on Sunday, Awad al-Jegheifi, a leader with al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces), said a booby-trapped house in al-Qadisiya in central Rawa, west of Anbar, exploded while troops were entering. Three personnel were killed, while five others were injured.

Troops, according to Jegheifi, cordoned off the blast spot and launched campaigns at neighboring houses fearing further blasts.

Iraq
Mysterious withdrawal of Hashd forces from Zummar, Rabia region
[RUDAW.NET] Parts of the Iran-backed Hashd al-Shaabi militias have reportedly withdrawn from Zummar and Rabia in djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, a source in the region told Rudaw, as is also confirmed by the Peshmerga ministry.

A local source, who preferred not to be named, said that around 100 vehicles in Rabia and 200 in Zummar of the Hashd al-Shaabi have retreated from the area.

Asked what the reason behind the withdrawal might be, he said the Hashd forces had told the local population that Peshmerga forces would be replacing them.

Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga Ministry Jamal Iminiki confirmed the news to Rudaw saying they were aware of the Hashd’s withdrawal, but claimed that he did not know why they had pulled out.

Iminiki said there was no agreement between Erbil and Baghdad for the Peshmerga to enter these areas.

On October 17, a day after Iraqi forces and the Hashd took the oil rich city of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
the army and Hashd al-Shaabi advanced and entered Shingal, Rabia and Zummar.

The Peshmerga and those forces later engaged in a series of festivities as the Iraqi army made an attempt to advance towards Fish Khabur bordering Syria and Ibrahim Khalil, on the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly...
the situation ceased after several rounds of talks between both sides.

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said in a telephone conversation with Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani on Saturday night that he was happy to see that tensions between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces have recently calmed. He valued patience on both parts to protect peace.

Arab coalition forces rescue two French journalists from Houthis in Yemen
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Arab coalition forces have rescued two French journalists who were lost in areas under the control of the Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias in Yemen.

The two French journalists arrived at Riyadh air base.

The journalists were part of a delegation coming from Saada to Hajjah province, and the Houthi militias kidnapped them on Thursday (November 2nd).

According to sources in Sanaa, the two French journalists arrived in Yemen, early November, aboard a humanitarian aid aircraft belonging to the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
relief organizations.

The two French journalists toured a number of areas under the control of the Houthis in the far north of Saada, but were surprised by the restrictions imposed as the forces of Evil were dissatisfied with the visit.

Despite the media statement that the two journalists were detained, the French authorities did not comment on the matter.

News websites belonging to Saleh's party said that one of the French women journalists was attacked, they took her own camera and deleted all the pictures she had taken since she arrived in Yemen.

This is not the first time the Houthis have held journalists or humanitarian workers. As, they have detained aid workers and Western activists who have come to Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
The world turned upside down: New York Times says "What if Ken Starr Was Right?"
Not so much the New York Times, as youngish conservative columnist Ross Douthat, who has a history of this kind of thing.
I have never been a Clinton hater; indeed, I’ve always been a little mystified by the scale of Republican dislike for the most centrist of recent Democratic leaders. So I’ve generally held what I’ve considered a sensible middle-ground position on his sins ‐ that he should have stepped down when the Lewinsky affair came to light, but that the Republican effort to impeach him was a hopeless attempt to legislate against dishonor.

But a moment of reassessment is a good time to reassess things for yourself, so I spent this week reading about the lost world of the 1990s. I skimmed the Starr Report. I leafed through books by George Stephanopoulos and Joe Klein and Michael Isikoff. I dug into Troopergate and Whitewater and other first-term scandals. I reacquainted myself with Gennifer Flowers and Webb Hubbell, James Riady and Marc Rich.

After doing all this reading, I’m not sure my reasonable middle ground is actually reasonable. It may be that the conservatives of the 1990s were simply right about Clinton, that once he failed to resign he really deserved to be impeached.
Wow. Read through the comments to see Times readers having an apoplectic fit at the idea that the Right might have ever been right.
The sexual misconduct was the heart of things, but everything connected to Clinton’s priapism was bad: the use of the perks of office to procure women, willing and unwilling; the frequent use of that same power to buy silence and bully victims; and yes, the brazen public lies and perjury.
I knew Starr was right all along.
Something like Troopergate, for instance, in which Arkansas state troopers claimed to have served as Clinton’s panderers and been offered jobs to buy their silence, is often recalled as just a right-wing hit job. But if you read The Los Angeles Times’s reporting on the allegations (which included phone records confirming the troopers’ account of a mistress Clinton was seeing during his presidential transition) and Stephanopoulos’s portrayal of Clinton’s behavior in the White House when the story broke, the story seems like it was probably mostly true.

I have less confidence about what was real in the miasma of Whitewater. But with Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky, we know what happened: A president being sued for sexual harassment tried to buy off a mistress-turned-potential-witness with White House favors, and then committed perjury serious enough to merit disbarment. Which also brought forward a compelling allegation from Juanita Broaddrick that the president had raped her.

The longer I spent with these old stories, the more I came back to a question: If exploiting a willing intern is a serious enough abuse of power to warrant resignation, why is obstructing justice in a sexual harassment case not serious enough to warrant impeachment? Especially when the behavior is part of a longstanding pattern that also may extend to rape? Would any feminist today hesitate to take a similar opportunity to remove a predatory studio head or C.E.O.?

There is a common liberal argument that our present polarization is the result of constant partisan escalations on the right ‐ the rise of Newt Gingrich, the steady Hannitization of right-wing media.

Some of this is true. But returning to the impeachment imbroglio made me think that in that case the most important escalators were the Democrats. They had an opportunity, with Al Gore waiting in the wings, to show a predator the door and establish some moral common ground for a polarizing country.

And what they did instead ‐ turning their party into an accessory to Clinton’s appetites, shamelessly abandoning feminist principle, smearing victims and blithely ignoring his most credible accuser, all because Republicans funded the investigations and they’re prudes and it’s all just Sexual McCarthyism ‐ feels in the cold clarity of hindsight like a great act of partisan deformation.

The way I remember it a number of Dems sat out that year certain that Bush the Elder was going to win. By the time the economy started to stumble it was too late.

Clinton (like Obama after him) ran as a test and somehow got traction. Then once the Dems actually won an election they thought they couldn't win they just rallied around their guy no matter what was said.

McConnell Camp Planted Roy Moore Story To Help Clear Path For Trump Impeachment Attempt In 2018
[DCWHISPERS] What a disgusting cesspool of self-serving corruption is the nation’s capital and no better example of that can be found today than Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell who, according to longtime political activist, Ned Ryun, was a primary source of the anti-Roy Moore stories that are now attempting to sway the upcoming Alabama special election and help clear the path for a Trump impeachment attempt in 2018.

"...I strongly suspect it’s a very short list of people, all who are associated with Mitch McConnell ‐ whether it’s Josh Holmes, whether it’s Karl Rove, might even be Steven Law ‐ I don’t know, but I strongly, strongly suspect
So he does not actually know with the certainty expressed in the headline. Got it.
somebody out of the McConnell camp planted the story. It was planted. This came with the blessing of Mitch McConnell at some point, that he was going to take a political shot at Roy Moore."

According to whispers, it wasn’t just taking "political shot" at Moore that motivating the McConnell camp. They want Roy Moore out of the way and replaced with someone of McConnell’s choosing, or even Moore’s Democrat opponent, Doug Jones, a man whose career is linked to the Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
administration. Moore would be a vehement defender of POTUS Trump and his policies. If McConnell is to succeed in laying the groundwork for an impeachment trial and vote in the Senate, he will need fewer senators like Roy Moore to contend with.

McConnell is said to know actual impeachment proceedings remain a distant possibility, (the Paul Ryan
...Speaker of the House, U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district, serving since 1999. He is a member of the Republican Party. He proposed an alternative to President Obama's 2011 budget and made himself the target of both Democrat and Republican verbal pies...
-led House would first have to vote to impeach) but he is more determined than ever to be ready should that opportunity present itself. For those who might scoff at the notion of a Republican Congress actually pursuing articles of impeachment against Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
, simply recall the failed votes to repeal and replace Obamacare
... aka the Affordable Care Act, an ineptly designed and worse executed piece of legislation designed to bring 17 percent of the U.S. economy under the direct control of the government. The previous iteration, known as Hillarycare, was laughed out of Washington. This stinker was passed on a party-line vote without being read...
, the ongoing troubles to pass tax cuts, and the number of Republican senators who continue to openly speak out against the President.

The motivation to go after Trump is there. What is left is a simple matter of numbers. Getting rid of a Roy Moore and replacing him with an anti-Trump senator would give McConnell that much more leverage to make his desire to eliminate Trump and restore Establishment control a reality.
Iblis also submitted this article, and commented:
Take with grain of salt. Tragically, it might be true.

Saleh’s party slams Houthi-affiliated groups, says they are ‘mercenaries’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The party of ousted Yemeni President former President-for-Life former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
, the General People's Congress Party, slammed militias affiliated with the Houthis and called them "mercenaries and merchants of war."

Saleh’s party also warned of the threats posed by these militias’ practices.

Meanwhile,
...back at the the conspirators' cleverly concealed hideout Montefiore's foot was still stuck and the hound had completely soaked his uniform with slobber...
an official at the General People's Congress Party condemned the state’s media for how it’s dealing with "these mercenaries."

"The way they are dealing with them raises a lot of questions as to whose interest these media outlets are serving and what message they want to convey," he said.

All state media outlets are controlled by Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias which have exploited them to attack their major partner in the coup.

Saleh’s party also voiced the importance of not allowing "merchants of war" to carry out their schemes.

"We will not be dragged behind the nonsense proposed by these mercenaries" it said in reference to the parties affiliated with the Houthis.

Houthi militias have recently pushed political parties which they recently formed to issue a statement and make serious accusations against their partner in the coup. The statement which also called for declaring a state of emergency was seen by some observers as an introduction to completely end the partnership between the Houthis and Saleh.

Stratcom Commander Ignites Controversy After Saying He Would Not Execute ‘Illegal' Nuke Order
The answer to concerns expressed here yesterday is to go beyond the pull quotes.
[Breitbart] The commander of the U.S. nuclear force ignited controversy when he said Saturday that he would not follow an illegal order from the president.

U.S. Strategic Command commander Air Force Gen. John Hyten was asked during the Halifax International Security Forum in Nova Scotia what he would do if he was asked to do something that was illegal.

Hyten responded that military officers study the law of armed conflict, which has certain principles they must abide by.

"If you execute an unlawful order, you can go to jail, and you could go to jail for the rest of your life," he said. "It’s not that difficult."
...
"If you watch the panel comments, it speaks for itself. But most people don’t take the time ... to go actually see what the source said,"
Um, that would be me.-A.S.
Stratcom spokeswoman Julie Zeigenhorn told Breitbart News...

Former Defense Secretary Ash Carter recently pushed back against the fear-mongering that Trump alone could start a nuclear war against North Korea, explaining there is a deliberative process that includes multiple cabinet secretaries.

"The way it is set up, it is a deliberative process that involves the secretary of defense ‐ the principal adviser to the president on these matters ‐ the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff and others in the chain of command, but also the secretary of state, the national security adviser, the director of national intelligence, the director of CIA," he told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour earlier this week.

"That’s the way it’s set up, and there’s a discussion and there’s an exploration of all the options on something so grave," he said. "People have this idea that there’s a button," he said. "There is a process, a consultative process."

Amanpour told Carter she thought it would be a "great comfort" to people for people to hear him say that.

Iraq
Sadr militia want incorporated into Iraqi army
They learned Tater up good when they had him at Qom.
[RUDAW.NET] The Saraya al-Salam militia of the Shiite holy man Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
... the Iranian catspaw holy man who was 22 years old in 2003 and was nearing 40 in 2010. He spends most of his time in Iran, safely out of the line of fire, where he's learning to be an ayatollah...
entered Kirkuk last month only to provide security to its residents and not to take control of territories, says the group’s spokesperson, and that they aim to be incorporated into the Iraqi army.

"We didn’t enter Kirkuk to control territory," Safa al-Tamimi, a commander and spokesperson for Saraya al-Salam told Rudaw TV on Saturday. "Rather, we went there to protect the security of the people of the city, and convey the message of peace, love and certainty."

Al-Tamimi said that upon entering Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
his militia group was welcomed by the city’s Kurdish, Turkmen and Arab communities. He also said they want to integrate the Hashd al-Shaabi forces with the Iraqi army and security forces.

Al-Tamimi said the main objective of the Saraya al-Salam from day one has been to support the Iraqi army.

"We have always been a supporting group within the Iraqi army and security establishments." al-Tamimi maintained. "Our only objective has been to support the Iraqi army and neutralize the danger against sacred places that were attacked by ISIS hard boys."

"This has been our aim since our establishment, since ISIS attacked Iraq in 2014."

Sayara al-Salam holy warriors were part of the overall Iraqi incursion into Kirkuk and other disputed territories in October.

Al-Tamiki said that his group has carried out no armed activity since entering the region and that they have reassured all parties of their intentions.

"We have done no military activities in Kirkuk and every party knows this," he said. "We reiterate that we will always be a guarantor for the entire nation of Iraq," al-Tamimi detailed.

On reports of human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
abuses al-Tamimi said that all militia groups should not be lumped together, and that some of the violations might have been perpetrated by individuals.

"Not all the units of the Hashd al-Shaabi forces are responsible for these violations if there had been any," he said. "The wrongdoings should have been on a personal level, if some disorganized and disobedient units have done something wrong."

"The Hashd al-Shaabi commanders were doing their best to prevent these individual violations." al-Tamimi said.

Al-Tamimi claimed that their leader, al-Sadr, wants his and all other militia groups to be incorporated into government forces and come under the prime minister’s control.

"Since the formation of the Saraya al-Salam, Moqtada Sadr has been calling for the Hashd al-Shaabi units to be under the command of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces," he explained. "In his first statement, his request was that we form a military unit that is part of Iraq’s security forces."

"This is our request too, and we hope this happens. We hope that organized units are incorporated into the Iraqi army and security forces. And this is to reach the high aim which is to raise the Iraqi flag and that of its army."

On November 7, Sadr called upon his Saraya al-Salam militia group to pull out their forces from the city of Kirkuk within 72 hours.

Sadr explained then that the administrative affairs of Kirkuk as well as all the others "have to be handed over to the security forces."

UC Berkeley professor's eerie lethal drone video goes viral
[SFGate] UC Berkeley professor Stuart Russell and the Future of Life Institute have created an eerie viral video titled "Slaughterbots" that depicts a future in which humans develop small, hand-sized drones that are programmed to identify and eliminate designated targets.

In the video above, the technology is initially developed with the intention of combating crime and terrorism, but the drones are taken over by an unknown forces who use the powerful weapons to murder a group of senators and college students. The video does contain some graphic content, and was originally uploaded to YouTube.
Watch the vid. A bit more development on deep learning face recognition and we are there. The rest of the tech is already available, even to non-state actors.

Africa Subsaharan
Mugabe stuns Zimbabwe by defying pressure to resign
[REUTERS] President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
stunned Zim-bob-we on Sunday by making no mention of resignation in a television address, defying his own ZANU-PF party, which had sacked him hours earlier, and hundreds of thousands of protesters who had already hailed his downfall.

Two sources - one a senior member of the government, the other familiar with talks with leaders of the military - had told Rooters Mugabe would announce his resignation to the nation after ZANU-PF dismissed him as its leader in a move precipitated by an army takeover four days earlier.

But in the speech from his State House office, sitting alongside a row of generals, Mugabe acknowledged criticisms from ZANU-PF, the military and the public but made no mention of his own position.

Instead, he said the events of the week were not "a challenge to my authority as head of state and government", and pledged to preside over the congress scheduled for next month.

Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was dumbstruck.

"I am baffled. It’s not just me, it’s the whole nation. He’s playing a game," he told Rooters. "He is trying to manipulate everyone. He has let the whole nation down."

ZANU-PF had given the 93-year-old, who has led his country since independence in 1980, less than 24 hours to quit as head of state or face impeachment, an attempt to secure a peaceful end to his tenure after a de facto military coup.

Chris Mutsvangwa, the leader of the liberation war veterans who have been spearheading an 18-month campaign to oust Mugabe, said plans to impeach him in parliament, which next sits on Tuesday, would now go ahead, and that there would be mass protests on Wednesday.

He also implied that Mugabe, who spoke with a firm voice but occasionally lost his way in his script during the 20-minute address, was not aware of what had happened just hours earlier.

"Blind Or Deaf"
"Either somebody within ZANU-PF didn’t tell him what had happened within his own party, so he went and addressed that meeting oblivious, or (he was) blind or deaf to what his party has told him," Mutsvangwa said.

ZANU-PF’s central committee had earlier named Emmerson Mnangagwa as its new leader. It was Mugabe’s sacking of Mnangagwa as his vice-president - to pave the way for his wife Grace to succeed him - that triggered the army’s intervention.

On Saturday, hundreds of thousands had taken to the streets of the capital Harare to celebrate Mugabe’s expected downfall and hail a new era for their country.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
PA, terrorists ordered to pay terror victims NIS 62 million
That's US$17,639,930 at an exchange rate of 3.51 Israeli shekels to the dollar...still a large sum. Collecting from the PA is easy enought, but how do they plan to get anything from the terrorists?
[Ynet] After 16 years, Jerusalem District Court awards terror victims' family compensation for physical and emotional damages, with both the gunnies and the PA found liable in damages; 'The PA paid, encouraged and supported terrorism,' says victims' father.

The Jerusalem District Court has ordered the Paleostinian Authority (PA) and the gunnies who carried out a deadly 2001 attack that claimed the lives of three Israelis to pay the victims' family NIS 62 million in compensation.

Sharon and Yaniv Ben Shalom and Sharon's brother Doron Zvori were murdered by a six-member terror cell in the attack on route 443 on their way home from a family trip to the southern resort city of Eilat. Their vehicle was trailed by the terrorists, who then proceeded to open fire.

Sharon managed to save her two infant daughters‐Efrat and Shachar Ben Shalom, who were also in the vehicle‐by throwing herself on top of them. The girls have since been raised by their mother's sister, Odelia Ben Shalom, and her husband, Atsmon Moshe.

In 2008, the victims' family submitted a NIS 559 million claim against the Paleostinian Authority, the Paleostinian Liberation Authority (PLO) and the six terrorists, who have been imprisoned in Israel. "We cannot describe the pain, sorrow, sense of loss and anger that have become part of the plaintiffs' daily life, all because of the vicious acts of villians," the suit stated.

The recent verdict is a follow up to a decision from 2014, which determined the gunnies were liable in damages, as is the PA for aiding and facilitating the attack.

The verdict detailed the physical and emotional damage caused to all the victims' family members, including a letter from Efrat and Shachar, the two orphaned daughters who were in the car.

The court decided to award NIS 10 million to each of the three victims' estates, NIS 6 million to each of the two orphaned daughters and NIS 5 million to each of the victims' (four) parents.

The PA was ordered to cover 40 percent (or NIS 24.8 million) of the awarded damages, with the gunnies themselves being ordered to pay 60 percent (NIS 37.2 NIS). The defendants were also ordered to pay plaintiffs' legal fees, amounting to 20 percent of the awarded sum.

"This ruling brings closure in a way," said Sharon and Doron's father, Zion Zvori, following Sunday's verdict. "We knew all along that the Paleostinian Authority is guilty: it sent the murderers, it led to this. This is the verdict, so now they can't say 'the PA knew,' or 'the PA didn't know.' The PA paid, encouraged and supported terrorism."

"There's no feeling of joy or anything of the sort," stressed Zvori. "I've lost children, money isn't a factor in this matter. What is a factor is the proof the children were murdered because they were Jewish, and that the PA supported this."

Attorney Eliyada HaCohen, who represented the families in court, stated that "this verdict was given in favor of all of our children. The Paleostinian equation in which the murderer of an Israeli is given respect, presitge and money, has been laid morally bare, and more importantly‐in its bare consequences. There is no profit in murdering Jews."

Arabia
Saudi Arabia to impose 5 percent VAT on gasoline from 2018
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Saudi General Authority for Zakat and Income (GAZI) said the government will impose a 5% Value Added Tax on gasoline as of January 2018.

GAZI made this announcement via Twitter in response to a Saudi citizen’s question.

The authority has recently said VAT will be imposed on local transportation services and administrative services at banks, adding that services which will be exempted include international transportation, goods that are exported outside Gulf Cooperation Council territory and the list of medicines and medical equipment issued by the health ministry and by the food and drug authority.

Selling or renting a personal residential property used by the owner or by his close relative will also be exempted from VAT.

GAZI is geared to sign a cooperation deal with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs following similar agreements with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Customs Department in the context of its preparations to enforce the VAT on Janaury 1, 2018.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
the governor of GAZI, Suhail Abanami, said the authority seeks to sign these deals to encourage government agencies to register and achieve the required preparedness before the launch of the VAT system, and provide all means of support and quality services in this regard.

Government agencies have many steps to undertake in preparation for the application of the VAT system and, therefore, GAZI exerts its best to support agencies and upgrade their efficiency, he said.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan Takes Aim at Turkey Central Bank
[AnNahar] President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him...
on Friday lashed out at The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's central bank over its refusal to cut interest rates, prompting new losses for the embattled Ottoman Turkish lira against the dollar.

Turkey is enjoying robust growth rates of over five percent but record high inflation of almost 12 percent and the performance of the lira have stoked alarm over the economy.

"I believe (high) inflation is the result of (high) rates. Those who don't understand me on this issue will sooner or later," Erdogan said in a speech to local politicians from his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara.

"The main cause for inflation is the rates. You must learn this. All the developments show this," he insisted.

Conventional economic wisdom suggests inflation should, however, go down as interest rates are raised as this softens demand and weakens money supply growth in an economy.

The European Central Bank, among others, have previously used increased interest rates as a monetary policy tool to bring inflation down into line with target levels.

The president has repeatedly verbally attacked Turkey's central bank over its unwillingness to cut interest rates. The rates have remained steady since January.

The lira tanked sharply on his comments and later clawed back a little ground to trade at 3.89 to the dollar, a loss of 0.73 percent in value on the day.

Erdogan also criticised the central bank's recent revisions to inflation projections, saying: "None of what you say sticks. It won't stick. You're on the wrong path," Erdogan said.

The president again blamed an "interest rate lobby" who press for a rise in rates to counter inflation.

"We lowered interest rates, inflation was in the single digits! Look -- the interest rate was increased again, inflation has again gone into the double-digits," he said.

The central bank's last change in rates was in January when it hiked its the overnight lending rate by 75 basis points to 9.25 percent from 8.5 percent.

The Ottoman Turkish leader also hit out at opponents of his frequent rebukes to the central bank, which is nominally independent and generally respected by the markets.

"(It's said) 'the central bank is independent, don't intervene'. Fine. But we have reached this point because we have not intervened. The picture is clear to see."

The Ottoman Turkish lira is the worst performing emerging markets currency this year, losing nearly 11 percent of its value since January.

Illegal Aliens Kill Border Patrol Agent By Crushing in His Skull w/Rocks
[Breitbart] Exclusive details have emerged on the early morning attack against Border Patrol agents that left one agent dead and another hospitalized in serious condition on November, 19 2017. Breitbart Texas first broke the news of the death and injuries and now the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) says that their agents on the ground have stated that the agents were tracking a group of illegal aliens who then beat the agents with rocks until one was killed and the other hospitalized.

Border Patrol Agent Brandon Judd, also president of the NBPC, stated, "What we know is that Border Patrol Agent Rogilio Martinez appears to have been ambushed by a group of illegal aliens whom he was tracking. Our agents’ reports from the ground say that he was struck in the head multiple times with a rock or rocks."

Agent Judd continued, "The other agent arrived on scene a short time later and was also ambushed and struck in the head with what is believed to have been a rock or rocks. These disgusting acts and complete disregard for human life need to stop immediately. Family members of slain Agent Martinez will never get to see him come home again all because we have failed to secure our borders from such criminals."

Shortly after Breitbart Texas broke the news of the incident, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that one Border Patrol agent was dead and another hospitalized in serious condition; however, authorities would not provide more details. Breitbart Texas was unable to confirm the details with CBP and other federal agencies. The NBPC is the organization that represents approximately 16,000 of our nation’s Border Patrol agents.

Our original report is included below.

One Border Patrol agent is dead and his partner left hospitalized in serious condition in the Big Bend Sector of Texas. The FBI is leading the investigation while Border Patrol Special Operations agents and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations aircrews are currently searching the area for possible attackers.

Breitbart Texas learned from a trusted CBP official that details on the matter are scarce.

We do know that two Border Patrol agents working as partners in the Van Horn Station area of responsibility of the Big Bend Sector responded to "activity." Whether the activity was an activated sensor or something else is currently unknown. This occurred on the morning of Sunday, November 19, 2017.

One of the Border Patrol agents later radioed into the communication center saying that he needed assistance and that he was injured. Other Border Patrol agents responded and found one agent injured and unconscious with injuries to his head and body. That agent, Rogelio Martinez, was later pronounced dead. Breitbart has learned that the agent’s family has been notified.

The responding agents also found the partner who had radioed for help. The agents transported the injured agent to the hospital where he is in "serious condition," according to the official.Border Patrol agents and Culberson County Sheriff’s Office deputies secured the area.

Border Patrol Agent and President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) Brandon Judd spoke with Breitbart Texas and expressed the council’s deepest condolences to the family of Agent Martinez and to the family of the other agent who is not named at this time. Agent Judd said that this is another example of why the border must be secured. Judd stated, "When all facts come to light on this matter, I believe the public will be outraged as there are those who do not value life who come across our border. Our borders must be secured and criminals must be held accountable."

#5  I've been saying for years that BP agents should be armed and dressed for combat. Anyone who steps across the border without authorization from the United States government should be shot. That'd be cheaper than a wall and I don't believe very many people would actually get shot because the rest would understand that illegally crossing the border is not something they should do. When BP agents are getting killed it's a war. It's a war anyway because we are being invaded. We should act accordingly.

Africa Subsaharan
Mugabe Removed As Zanu-PF Party Leader
Tipping point passed.
[All Africa] The central committee of Zim-bob-we's ruling ZANU-PF party has expelled President Bob Muggsy Mugabe
Nonagenarian President-for-Life of Zim-bob-we who turned the former Breadbasket of Africa into the African Basket Case...
as party leader.

The party also announced that it has appointed Emmerson Mnangagwa in his place. Further, Mugabe's deeply unpopular wife, Grace has been thrown out of the party.

A day after the country erupted with joy at the prospect of an end to the Mugabe era, formal steps are being taken to remove him from office. A party committee meeting is currently underway, with leading members of the Zim-bob-we African National Union - Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) to discuss the expulsion of President Robert Mugabe as party leader.

The meeting comes ahead of a second round of talks between Mugabe and the army commander on finding a dignified end to the aged-ruler's presidency.

Chris Mutsvangwa, who led the campaign to get rid of Mugabe, said that the party meeting's agenda also includes reinstating former vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa and removing the president's wife, Grace Mugabe, as head of the ZANU-PF Women's League.

"We are going all the way," Mutsvangwa told the Rooters news agency on his way into the meeting, also saying that he thinks Mugabe should just resign and leave the country. "He's trying to bargain for a dignified exit but he should just smell the coffee and gap it."

Support crumbles
Former Mugabe supporters are turning from the beleaguered nonagenarian in droves. The influential ZANU youth league issued a statement on Sunday calling on Mugabe to step down, and for his wife, Grace, to be thrown out of the party.

The Youth League has previously been extremely loyal to Mugabe, but now says he should resign "so that he can rest as the elderly statesman he is."

Impeachment set for next week
Zim-bob-we's main opposition party, Movement for Democratic Change - Tsvangirai (MDC-T) has said it will "definitely" put in process a motion to impeach Mugabe, adding that there have been discussions with the ruling ZANZ-PF party.

MDC-T party member, Innocent Gonese, told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named news agency, "If Mugabe is not gone by Tuesday, then as sure as the sun rises from the east, [the] impeachment process will kick in."

Departure talks with military
Zim-bob-wean officials have not revealed any details about the talks scheduled for Sunday, but it is alleged that the military would prefer Mugabe to voluntarily resign for the sake of creating a veneer of legality in the leadership handover.

There is speculation that Mugabe may be using whatever power he has left to try to preserve his legacy as one of the leaders of Africa's liberation, or perhaps to protect himself and his family from prosecution.

The talks are believed to be going ahead without the South African delegation that was involved in the first round. South Africa's President, Jacob Zuma, on Saturday described the negotiations as being in the "early days."

Next Tuesday, the southern African regional bloc will be holding a four-country summit in Angola to discuss the political situation in Zim-bob-we.

Gunman sought after Pennsylvania police officer killed in traffic stop
[ABCNEWS.GO] New Kensington police released a name and image early Sunday of the man they are searching for in the fatal shooting of a police officer in western Pennsylvania.

The suspect in the shooting was identified as Rahmael Sal Holt, 29, and said he is expected to be "armed and dangerous."

They released an image of Holt on Twitter.

Earlier in the day Saturday, police announced they had found a vehicle they believe was involved in the killing of a Pennsylvania cop during a traffic stop, officials said.

"We were able to find and seize the vehicle that we believe to be involved in this incident," New Kensington Police Chief James Klein said. "The investigation into the vehicle’s full involvement and the occupants that were in the vehicle is ongoing at this time."

The discovery came after an announcement that the reward offered for information leading to an arrest of the gunman rose to $40,000 on Saturday, as an intense manhunt continued.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. ET Friday in New Kensington, about 18 miles from Pittsburgh. Officer Brian Shaw was shot after a traffic stop led to him pursuing someone on foot, according to authorities.
