The assertion by Clinton was particularly stunning given the current #MeToo movement she has championed, not to mention that her presidential campaign centered on her becoming the nation's first female commander in chief if elected.
Asked if her husband should have resigned the presidency after the affair came to light, Hillary told CBS's "Sunday Morning," "Absolutely not."
Pressed on whether Bill had committed an abuse of power ‐ since a president of the United States couldn't have a consensual relationship with an intern ‐ she added, "No, no" because Lewinsky "was an adult."
Bill Clinton was 49 at the time.
Hillary then tried to deflect attention away from the issue and began focusing on President Trump and his many allegations of sexual misconduct that were leveled before the 2016 election.
"Let me ask you this: Where's the investigation of the current incumbent, against whom numerous allegations have been made and which he dismisses, denies and ridicules?" Clinton said.
As for her husband, she said, "So there was an investigation, and it - as I believe - came out in the right place."

[DailyCaller] Senator Elizabeth Warren has released a DNA test that provides "strong evidence’’ she had a Native American in her family tree dating back 6 to 10 generations, an unprecedented move by one of the top possible contenders for the 2020 Democratic nomination for president.
Warren, whose claims to Native American blood have been mocked by President Trump and other Republicans, provided the test results to the Globe on Sunday in an effort to defuse questions about her ancestry that have persisted for years. She planned an elaborate rollout Monday of the results as she aimed for widespread attention. After months of not revealing that she was going to have her DNA checked, a very high-risk maneuver, even more than Trump was willing to take!
The analysis of Warren’s DNA was done by Carlos D. Bustamante, a Stanford University professor and expert in the field who won a 2010 MacArthur fellowship, also known as a genius grant, for his work on tracking population migration via DNA analysis.
He concluded that "the vast majority" of Warren’s ancestry is European, but he added that "the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor." Well now she can just run right down and sign up to be a member of her long-forgotten tribe and claim benefits! Don't forget to say hi to your fourth cousing eight times removed while you're there!
Bustamante calculated that Warren’s pure Native American ancestor appears in her family tree "in the range of 6-10 generations ago." That timing fits Warren’s family lore, passed down during her Oklahoma upbringing, that her great-great-great-grandmother, O.C. Sarah Smith, was at least partially Native American.
Smith was born in the late 1700s. She identified as white in historical documents, though at the time Indians faced discrimination, and Smith would have had strong incentives to call herself white if possible.
The inherent imprecision of the six-page DNA analysis could provide fodder for Warren’s critics. If her great-great-great-grandmother was Native American, that puts her at 1/32nd American Indian. But the report includes the possibility that she’s just 1/1024th Native American if the ancestor is 10 generations back. Maybe one of her earbones is Native American then.
Undergoing the test and releasing the results reveal how seriously Warren is taking the attacks from Trump, who has been able to effectively caricature and diminish his national foes via nicknames and conspiracy theories. Trump pushed then President Barack Obama into releasing the long form of his birth certificate to prove what most knew was already true: He was born in America. In our 58th state, Kenya.
The move is also another indication of how seriously Warren is considering running for president. And while it’s unclear whether the test will convince Trump and his die-hard supporters, Warren will be able to point to it with other, more open-minded voters. Once Obama produced his birth certificate in 2011, the racist "birther’’ movement, which thrived on the Internet and was stoked by Trump, largely evaporated.
Warren is seeking reelection in Massachusetts and is expected to easily win a second term. She has said that she will take a "hard look" at running for the Democratic nomination for president once the midterm elections are over. She’s already released 10 years worth of her tax returns and made her personnel files available to The Boston Globe, showing that ethnicity was not a factor in her rise in law.
By taking a DNA test, Warren is showing that if she runs for president, she plans to be a very different candidate than Hillary Clinton was. The 2016 Democratic nominee for president chafed at releasing personal information and was dogged throughout her campaign by her use of a private server while she was secretary of state. Indeed. It proves at least that Warren is at least 1/1024th honest, which is far better than Hillary can claim.
Warren provided a sample of her DNA to a private lab in Georgia in August, according to one of the senator’s aides. The data from that test was sent to Bustamante and his team for analysis. Warren received the report last week.
Warren didn’t use a commercial service, but Bustamante is on the scientific advisory board for Ancestry, which provides commercial DNA tests. He’s also consulted on a project for 23andMe, another major DNA testing company.
Warren said she was committed to releasing the report regardless of the results. However, Warren’s aides would not say whether she or any of her three siblings had previously done a commercial DNA test that would have provided them with some assurance about Bustamante’s analysis.
There were five parts of Warren’s DNA that signaled she had a Native American ancestor, according to the report. The largest piece of Native American DNA was found on her 10th chromosome, according to the report. Each human has 23 pairs of chromosomes. Except Warren, who has 24.
"It really stood out," said Bustamante in an interview. "We found five segments, and that long segment was pretty significant. It tells us about one ancestor, and we can’t rule out more ancestors."
Detecting DNA for Native Americans is particularly tricky because there is an absence of Native American DNA available for comparison. This is in part because Native American leaders have asked tribal members not to participate in genetic databases.
"The tribes have felt they have been exploited," explained Lawrence Brody, a senior investigator with the Medical Genomics and Metabolic Genetics Branch at the National Institutes of Health. "The amount of genetic data that is available from Native Americans is sparse."
To make up for the dearth of Native American DNA, Bustamante used samples from Mexico, Peru, and Colombia to stand in for Native American. That’s because scientists believe that the groups Americans refer to as Native American came to this land via the Bering Strait about 12,000 years ago and settled in what’s now America but also migrated further south. His report explained that the use of reference populations whose genetic material has been fully sequenced was designed "for maximal accuracy."
Bustamante said he can tease out the markers that these South Americans would have in common with Native Americans on the North American continent.
Bustamante also compared Warren’s DNA to white populations in Utah and Great Britain to determine if the amounts of Native American markers in Warren’s sample were significant or just background noise.
Warren has 12 times more Native American blood than a white person from Great Britain and 10 times more than a white person from Utah, the report found. And half as much more than Trump has.
Warren has come under blistering attacks from Trump for making claims of Native American heritage. His taunts of her as "Pocahontas" have become part of his standard rally monologue. That's Fauxcahontas.
Earlier this month at rally in Iowa, Trump said he hoped Warren would run for president because it would allow him to find out "whether or not she has Indian blood." Well, it's good to hear she has blood anyway.
In July, during a rally in Montana, Trump imagined debating Warren during the 2020 presidential election and said that he’d try to make her take a DNA test by throwing it at her onstage. "We have to do it gently, because we’re in the #MeToo generation, so we have to be very gentle," Trump said.
He also offered to provide $1 million to her charity of choice if she takes the test.
Warren’s Senate campaign has used clips from Trump and his spokeswoman Sarah Sanders attacking her for making the Native American claims in a slickly produced video it planned to distribute Monday morning. It includes a scene of Warren and her three older brothers discussing the issue. And clips of Warren smoking a peace pipe.
There’s even footage of Warren calling Bustamante to get the results of her DNA test.
"The president likes to call my mom a liar. What do the facts say?" asks Warren, sitting at a desk by behind a Macintosh laptop.
"The facts suggest that you absolutely have Native American ancestry in your pedigree," replies Bustamante, who was also captured on film by Warren’s team. "So now can I get my money?"
Bustamante is considered one of the leading DNA analysts in the world. When several DNA experts were asked by the Globe, earlier this year, how they’d recommend Warren go about taking a DNA test, his name came up repeatedly.
He has never donated to Warren’s campaigns. (A different California professor with the same name donated $200 to Obama in 2008, federal records show.)
Questions over Warren’s ethnicity have dogged her since her 2012 Senate campaign. That’s when GOP operatives found archival stories in the Harvard Crimson of a Harvard Law School spokesman referring to her as a Native American as a way to show the school had a diverse faculty.
During her academic career as a law professor, she had her ethnicity changed from white to Native American at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she taught from 1987 to 1995, and at Harvard University Law School, where she was a tenured faculty member starting in 1995. (She was a visiting professor at Harvard during the 1992-1993 academic year.) When she had even more American Blood in her.
In an interview with the Globe published last month, Warren explained that she identified herself as Native American in the late 1980s and early 1990s as many of the matriarchs of her family were dying and she began to feel that her family stories and history were becoming lost. Yeah. Like not remembered for generations.
Ivy League universities, like the ones where Warren taught, were under great pressure to show they had diverse staffs. Well, here's an Indian that isn't an Indian. Beat that!
The University of Pennsylvania filled out a document explaining why it hired a white woman over minority candidates ‐ clear evidence it didn’t view her as a Native American addition. And the Globe interviewed 31 Harvard Law School faculty members who voted on her appointment there, and all said her heritage was not a factor. Damn. Liberal Memory Disorder strikes again.

Why Utah and not Oklahoma which is where Warren's was born? Why not compare her to the general white
population of the US?
Also one should expect the statistical genetic makeup of Utah's white population to be somewhat different from the makeup of the general white population of the US due to a couple of generations of practiced polygamy in the 19th century.

The US House voted to impeach Bill Clinton for lying under oath and obstructing justice, but the US Senate later acquitted him, and he remained in office.
The CBS interview comes as a record-breaking number of women are seeking office this year in direct response to President Trump’s election and buoyed by the #metoo movement.
Despite the surge of candidates, Clinton said sexism is still front and center in politics.
She pointed out Brett Kavanaugh’s aggressive questioning of Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Amy Klobuchar during his US Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
"He didn’t do that to the men," Clinton said.
Clinton said sexism is a reason for her loss to President Trump in 2016, in addition to Russian election meddling and the investigation into her e-mails.
"If you watched the way Trump debated me, it was just imbued with sexism. Making fun of me for preparing. Well, you know, that’s the old, like, "Oh, yeah, the girl in the class who’s always prepared. I don’t need to be prepared,’ " Clinton said.
During the 2016 campaign, Trump faced a damning leak of an "Access Hollywood" video where he was caught on tape bragging about grabbing women’s genitals. His response before a 2016 debate was to hold a press conference with several women who accused Bill Clinton of sexual misconduct or assault and accused Hillary Clinton of trying to silence them.
Clinton said she played "no role" in criticizing the character of the women who accused her husband of sexual misconduct.
"No role," Clinton said. "I take responsibility for my life and my actions."

The State Department must be furious. Without NK, how are they going to keep US troops in Korea? The Norks are very useful as a source of tension in the region.

[Gulf Today] At least two Abu Sayyaf militants were killed in operations launched by Philippine security forces on the island province of Sulu in Mindanao. Police reported that lawmen killed the two armed rebels, who resisted and fired at them while being served a warrant for their arrest in the town of Indanan, Sulu on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said they also arrested four accomplices of the slain terrorists from whom were seized a shotgun, two pistols and assorted ammunition as well as several sachets of crystal meth.
The killings are part of continuing “search and destroy operations” launched by troops in Sulu and the neighboring island province of Basilan. In particular, the military said their attention has been focused on the rescue of at least 15 hostages held by the militants.

"This was a crucial artery of trade between Jordan and Syria and transit to other countries," she said.
This move to reopen the Nassib Crossing on Monday comes at the same time both Syria and Israel agreed to restore the Golan Heights Crossing.
The Nassib and Golan Heights crossings were both closed in early 2015 after the Syrian Arab Army lost several imperative areas along the southwestern border of the country.

The Egyptian military on Sunday said that commercial truck traffic with Israel had resumed via a border crossing in the Sinai Peninsula that had been shut down amid the jihadist insurgency there.
Brig. Gen. Tareq Younis said the first few trucks from Israel crossed over into Egypt on Sunday, and that Egyptian vehicles began bringing goods into Israel earlier this month.
The trade, mostly foodstuffs and raw materials, passed through the el-Auga route, south of Gazoo and closer to central Sinai.

[DAWN] Indian forces target-bombed a civilian residential area near the Line of Control (LoC) on Sunday, resulting in severe injuries to an 8-year-old boy, the military's media wing said.
The "unprovoked" shelling by the Indian army occurred in the Chiri Kot sector of the LoC, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), adding Pak forces "responded effectively to the Indian post that engaged in the shelling".
The injured boy was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

I'm curious as to how something like this happens.
Don't recall the type, but I've read of a fighter with a powerful air search radar in the nose that was equipped with a safety interlock that kept the radar off when there was weight on the nose wheel so as not to microwave the maintenance guys. I would assume something similar exists for guns.

if it is faulty or installed wrong it woun't interrupt the firing circuits. Then BAD things happen.

It does. There are 'safety pins' (clips with numbered tags) that keep everything that needs to not work from working. (Weapons, landing gear, radar, ejection seat,...) The crew chief normally pulls them and hands them to the pilot right before take off. The pilot counts them and then stows them.
The problem arises when you do maintenance on something. Some one has to take the safety pin out. There's supposed to be a 'double check' program in place to make sure it's OK to remove the pin.
Of late, the Air Force has been failing safety checks at an ominous rate. (Generals have been loosing their jobs...)

The preliminary results reveal that Merkel's allies are set for their worst election results since 1950.
The Christian Social Union (CSU) has won 37.3 percent of the vote and has lost its absolute majority for only the second time since 1962.
This bad result for Chancellor Merkel's party could increase tensions within Germany's fragile government.

If anything this is a realignment within the Merkel camp strengthening the extreme left.

The conservative camp hasn't really lost much. The CSU will form a coalition with the Free Voters, who are just an alliance of disgruntled CSU fans with an emphasis on local rural politics. Their ideology doesn't differ much.
The AfD is lacking the local touch.
The Bavarian Greens may have a few leftist fans, but it's now basically a settled bourgeois party.
The SPD is irrelevant now, and the Linke (commies) didn't make it. The FDP (classical liberals) did.
Not much is leftist in Bavaria.

[Al Ahram] Twenty-two people, including children, were killed when a truck carrying migrants colonists crashed in the western Ottoman Turkish province of Izmir on Sunday, the state-owned Anadolu news agency reported.
The mangled wreckage of the open-topped truck lay toppled over in a canal, some 20 metres below a highway from which it apparently fell after crashing through a barrier, video and photos published by Anadolu showed.
Thirteen people were maimed and taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals, it said.
A state prosecutor has launched an investigation into the crash and the truck driver could face arrest after hospital treatment, it added.
According to the private Demiroren news agency (DHA), the truck's passengers were foreign migrants colonists who had reached a deal with traffickers to be transported by boat to the Greek island of Samos south of Izmir.
Nine of those injured were children, DHA said. It was not clear where the migrants colonists were from.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels in the Latakia and Hama governorates have yet to leave the Idlib buffer zone, despite the fact the deadline for their withdrawal is only hours away.
According to a military source in Latakia, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party continued raising new trenches near the key town of Kabbani, as Syrian and Russian troops observed from afar.
The source said that the entire Kabbani front has been heavily fortified by the jihadist rebels, prompting the Syrian military to believe there will be no withdrawal from the Latakia part o the buffer zone agreement.
Furthermore, the Syrian military watched as the jihadist rebels in the al-Ghaab Plain strengthened their positions and reinforced their lines.
The deadline for the complete withdrawal of all rebel forces, including jihadists, is set for midnight on October 15th.
Thus far, some rebel groups have withdrawn from the buffer zone; however, a large number of fighters still remain in the designated de-escalation area.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham managed to capture some of their rival’s positions, forcing them to ultimately retreat towards the Ottoman Turkish border in order to evade capture.
The reason for the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham attack is still unknown; however, both groups have clashed in the past, despite their ongoing war against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Ryan Scott Malek’s was four times the legal alcohol limit when police found him in a questionable position with a parked car on May 1. Officers tried to get him to stop, but persistent Malek, from Newton, Kansas, US, kept going.
Malek was reportedly ’oblivious’ to what he was doing, so police decided to Taser him, according to the Smoking Gun. It appears Malek had an audience of six other witnesses watching him at the time, court documents revealed. The 24-year-old was taken to hospital and given a chance to sober up.
He later pleaded guilty to lewd and lascivious behaviour and was put on probation for one year. According to police arrest logs, Malek was arrested for aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon in February.

Sappers were called Saturday after a civilian discovered incendiary balloons in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Ein Kerem.
According to a police statement, the individual spotted the balloons and drove with them in a vehicle before handing them over to a police patrol in the area.
The tactic of sending airborne incendiary devices into Israeli territory has been used almost daily by Paleostinians in the Gazoo Strip since the start of weekly border protests there in March, but it is unlikely this balloon device was launched from the coastal enclave.
There have been a number of incidents in which West Bank Paleostinians appear to have copied the tactic, sending devices into Israeli communities and settlements.
This is the third time in a week that similar devices have been discovered in Jerusalem.
Israel Police sappers were called in Wednesday to neutralize an incendiary device attached to a balloon that landed in a construction site for a kindergarten in the heart of Jerusalem near Emek Refaim Street, the main road in the capital’s upscale German Colony neighborhood.
On Thursday a woman found incendiary balloons in the Valley of the Cross, near the Knesset, collected them and took them with her to her next destination before calling the police. Sappers took the balloons and swept the area where they were found for any other such devices.

[Al Jazeera] A deadline passed on Monday without fighters leaving a planned buffer zone around Syria's last major rebel bastion of Idlib as set out under a Russian-Ottoman Turkish deal.
The gangs were supposed to withdraw from the buffer as a final condition to implementing a Russian-Ottoman Turkish agreement to stave off a Syrian government offensive on the northwestern region of Idlib.

Sounds like the Mayor called out his brownshirts to silence any objections.
[Al Ahram] A Facebook page affiliated with the Libyan National Army (LNA) called ’The Internal Security Apparatus in Derna’ posted on Saturday what it says are parts of revelations by Hisham El-Ashmawy, an Egyptian terrorist and leader of an al-Qaeda offshoot in Libya, who was captured last Monday in the Eastern Libyan city of Derna.
According to the page, El-Ashmawy revealed that 50 holy warriors affiliated with ISIS, under the leadership of Abu al-Baraa al-Liby, are still taking shelter in the city's centre, while 56 others from different terrorist organization are injured and taking shelter in a number of building basements in the city with very little food provisions.
The page said El-Ashmawy is undergoing interrogation in a secret prison in Eastern Libya.
El-Ashmawy affirmed that Abu Hafs al-Mauritani, the Islamic scholar and al-Qaeda mufti, is among the fighters sheltering in Derna's old city. El-Ashmawy also revealed that Omar Refaai Serour, an Egyptian al-Qaeda leader in Libya, has died of his injuries in battles with the LNA.
The captured terrorist also affirmed that Sufian Bin Qumu, the leader of Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet... , a group affiliated with al-Qaeda in Libya, has also been killed in battles with the LNA.
Another LNA affiliated page also said on Wednesday that LNA forces have captured Safwat Zidan, a notorious associate of El-Ashmawy.
Reports also said that the LNA has captured the wife of the dear departed Egyptian al-Qaeda leader Omar Refaai Serour.
An Egyptian military source told Ahram Online that it is not clear when El-Ashmawy, who has been sentenced to death in Egypt, will be handed over to Egyptian authorities.
On Thursday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said that Egypt wants El-Ashmawi to be returned to his country to be held accountable for his crimes.
El-Ashmawy was born in 1978 and graduated in 2000 from the Military Academy. He was expelled from the Egyptian army in 2011.
El-Ashmawy, a former Special Forces officer also known as Abu Omar El-Mohager (the immigrant), was considered among the most dangerous holy warriors linked to many attacks in Egypt.
In July 2015, El-Ashmawy announced the establishment of the Mourabitoun organization in Libya, which is loyal to the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.
El-Ashmawy is believed to have been involved in an liquidation attempt on former Egyptian Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim and the murder of top prosecutor Hisham Barakat, as well as plotting an attack on Egyptian border guards in February 2015, which resulted in the death of 29 armed forces personnel.
He is also believed to be behind a deadly attack on Christian pilgrims in Upper Egypt's Minya governorate in May 2017, which killed 29 people.
In January 2015, his group was suspected of staging a multi-pronged attack on the headquarters of the Army Battalion 101 headquarters in El-Arish in North Sinai, which killed 30 soldiers and officers.
An Egyptian military court sentenced him, in absentia, along with 13 other holy warriors to death over the New Valley massacre in Farafra on 19 July 2014, where 22 border guards were killed.

[Al Jazeera] Bangladesh's main opposition party has forged an alliance with centrist parties, with an 82-year-old former foreign minister emerging as the main leader ahead of upcoming elections.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is hoping the alliance will help it boost its support and move on after a series of setbacks, including the jailing of its leader the loathesome Khaleda Zia Three-term PM of Bangla, widow of deceased dictator Ziaur Rahman, head of the Bangla Nationalist Party, an apparent magnet for corruption ... for corruption in February and the sentencing of exiled acting leader, her son, last week.
The Jatiya Oikya Front (United National Front) was formally announced in the Bangladeshi capital late on Saturday after months of negotiations among opposition parties.
Kamal Hossain, a former foreign minister and an eminent lawyer who drafted the secular constitution just after independence in 1971, has emerged as the main leader.
"There is no alternative to a free and fair election," Hossain told a press briefing late on Saturday.
The new alliance issued a seven-point list of demands including the dissolution of parliament and the holding of free and fair polls organised by an interim government.
"The launch of the Jatiya Oikya Front will go down in history as a turning point," senior BNP leader and former law minister Moudud Ahmed told news hounds.

She is also accused of providing forged signatures for three people on applications. Sanchez remained in the Tarrant County Jail at noon Friday with bail set at $1,500.
▪ Laura Parra, 24, of Fort Worth, faces one count. Parra is accused of providing a forged signature in January 2016 on an application for an early voting ballot. She was released from jail Thursday on a $1,500 bond.
▪ Leticia Sanchez Tepichin, 39, of Haltom City, faces nine counts. Tepichin is accused of providing forged signatures on two applications for early voting ballots in January and February 2016. She is also accused in seven of the counts of soliciting, encouraging, directing, aiding, or attempting to aid others in altering and submitting false information on early voting ballot applications. The false information was submitted, according to the indictment, to request ballots by mail for the Democratic Party for 2016 elections by people who had made no such request. She was being held in the Tarrant County Jail Friday at noon with bail set at $1,500.
▪ Maria Rosa Solis, 40, of Haltom City , faces two counts. Solis is accused of providing forged signatures in January 2016 on two applications for early voting ballots. She was released from jail on Friday on a $1,500 bond.
Sanchez was indicted on one court of illegal voting, a second-degree felony that could bring, if convicted, a sentence of two to 20 years in prison.
All four face felony charges for providing false information on an application for a mail ballot. Sanchez faces 16 counts, Tepichin faces 10 counts, Solis faces two counts and Parra faces one count.

[Al Ahram] A healthcare worker abducted by Islamic State group in Nigeria in March may be killed within 24 hours, the International Committee of the Red Cross said in a statement on Sunday, pleading for mercy and urging Nigeria's government to work for her release.
"Speed and urgency are critical. A deadline that could result in the killing of another healthcare worker is less than 24 hours away," ICRC said, adding that one of two other women abducted at the same time was killed in September.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out another deadly operation in the Arin region of northwest Aleppo this week..
According to the official media wing of the YPG, their sleeper cell carried out a sniper attack in Khezawiye village this week, killing a Ottoman Turkish-backed rebel from the Free Syrian Army ... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund... (FSA) in the process.
"On October 11th, our unit carried out a sniper action targeting an official in charge of the checkpoint set up by the invader Ottoman Turkish army and its mercenaries in the Khezawiye village, located near to Afrin city. As a result, a terrorist of the Sham Legion (Faylaq al-Sham) named Maher Ibrahim, originally from Idlib, was killed," the YPG media statement read.
The YPG would carry out another operation the following day, targeting the FSA’s Hamza Division at the Nebi Houri Castle in Afrin’s Shera District.
"On October 12th, one of our units ambushed the mercenaries of the Hamza Division in the Nebi Houri castle area of Afrin’s Shera district. As a result, two bad boyz were potted. They were identified as Mohammed Alawi from Homs and Abeed Ahmed from Idlib," the YPG statement said.

[Al Ahram] Cairo will continue with efforts to help unify the Libyan armed forces, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry told the UN envoy to Libya in Cairo on Sunday.
In an official statement, Egypt's foreign ministry front man Ahmed Hafez said that Shoukry apprised UN envoy Ghassan Salame of Egyptian efforts to push forward with the Libyan crisis settlement.
According to Shoukry, the violent festivities witnessed by Libya's Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... have proven the necessity of dealing with the spread of militias and the importance of constructing and unifying Libyan national security institutions to achieve the aspired stability.
Salame discussed the efforts made by the UN in Libya, including successfully reaching a ceasefire agreement between gangs in Tripoli, as well as his vision on dealing with similar challenges in Libya.
He also praised Egypt's efforts to unify the Libyan army, expressing his hope that such efforts would encourage working on unifying other Libyan institutions.
The meeting included an exchange of viewpoints on pushing forward political talks in the country, with both sides agreeing on the necessity of carrying out the UN initiative for a Libyan solution with all its elements.

A Gazoo terror group said it launched the first-ever incendiary "blimp" towards Israel during Friday’s riots and demonstrations along the Gazoo border.
A video circulating in Paleostinian media on Saturday showed members of the "Sons of Zouari" group launching the approximately 5-meter device, essentially a large balloon designed to look like a blimp or dirigible, over the border east of the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gazoo.
The balloon carried a message in Hebrew that said: "If our fate is to be doomed to suffer, then we will not suffer alone."
It was not clear if the "blimp" made it across the border, or started any fires inside Israel.
The device was said to have been launched amid intense festivities with Israeli security forces Friday afternoon in one of the deadliest days in months of mass protests along the Gazoo border.
The Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,-run health ministry said seven Paleostinians were killed by Israeli fire in the festivities, and over 140 other injured. The ministry said four were killed in one location, where the IDF said it opened fire on 20 rioters who blew a hole in the border fence with a bomb and rushed an army post. No Israeli troops were harmed, the army said. The three Gazooks were "meters" away from the troops when they fired, Hadashot TV news reported on Saturday.
Two other Paleostinians were killed in other protest locations, according to the health ministry. On Saturday morning, it announced that a seventh protester shot in the intense festivities had departed this vale of tears.
Israel said 14,000 Paleostinians thronged the border fence areas Friday afternoon, burning tires and throwing bombs, grenades, rocks, and Molotov cocktails at soldiers stationed on the other side of the barrier.
Since March, Hamas, an Islamist terror group that seeks to destroy Israel, has orchestrated near-weekly protests along the fence, which have seen repeated violent festivities between Paleostinian rioters and IDF troops. Some 150 Paleostinians have been killed, according to AP figures; Hamas has acknowledged that dozens of the dead were its members.
The protests have also seen Paleostinians sending incendiary devices attached to balloons into Israeli territory, sparking fires that have scorched over 7,000 acres of land and caused millions of shekels in damage.
On Friday, 10 fires broke out in southern Israel that were sparked by incendiary balloons launched over the border from Gazoo as part of the ongoing protests.
On Saturday one fire broke out near Kibbutz Be’eri. Three incendiary balloons were also found in the Ashkelon Regional Council, the Eshkol Regional Council, and Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem neighborhood.

One of the Gazook Paleostinians who blew a hole in the security fence and crossed the border into Israel on Friday was killed at point-blank range after approaching a soldier with a knife, the military said early Sunday.
Seven Paleostinians were killed in all and at least 252 were maimed in intense festivities with Israeli security forces along the Gazoo border on Friday afternoon and evening, the Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede,-run health ministry said.
In the most serious incident, in the south of the Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said several Gazooks planted a bomb by the fence. After it went kaboom! and blew a hole in the fence, some 20 Paleostinians rushed through and ran toward Israeli soldiers stationed in a snipers’ nest.
Most of the Gazooks pulled back and returned through the fence into the Strip after the soldiers fired warning shots into the air. However, Switzerland makes more than cheese... several continued to move toward the soldiers, who fired at them, according to Sgt. Omer Kaplan, a field intelligence soldier who monitors the border through surveillance cameras.
Major Ben Hallel, an officer in the Paratroopers Brigade who commanded the troops during the incident, said the Paleostinian was armed with a knife and tried to attack a soldier, who shot up close range and killed him.
"We received a reports from the lookouts, saying that one of the bandidosgunnies remained in Israeli territory, just under where we were stationed. One of the soldiers, who was near the location, spotted the terrorist, who approached him with a knife," Hallel said.
The military’s investigation of the incident found that the soldier called on the Paleostinian to stop several times before shooting him, the Walla news site reported. The report said the IDF assessed that he intended to grab the soldier’s weapon.
The bodies of three Paleostinians were taken back into the Strip by rioters, Hadashot TV news reported.
Hadashot reported that for the first time soldiers were being shot at with crossbows.

BTW, welcome to the NIMBY state. We have Holloman and Cannon AFB facilities available in New Mexico. They also just stood down the NMNG F16 wing at Kirtland AFB. One is qualified for supersonic training. No major environmental threats to either.

Best Location? How many days a year is that spot rated for "Unrestricted Flying Days"? How close to transportation routes/population centers to allow it to be convenient to operate?
In Central Oklahoma the number, IIRC, of days per year was 360+ and the services clustered a series of training installations around Oklahoma City in World War 2 -- Despite the ever present Severe Tornado Threat™!

What *boggles* my mind is the fact that a F-22 could be damage in its hangar -- Why wasn't some senior USAF NCO directed to personally improvise a "defense in place" and allowed to scavenge whatever it takes to wrap each non-flying bird in enough plywood, sandbags and bubble wrap to survive a nuclear blast?

I take it the base doesn't have any hardened hangers at all? I would think that any air force base should at least be prepared to fulfill it's actual purpose in war time, ie having defenses in place to protect it and static defenses against air or arty threats.

Considering all the agony the military went through in the BRAC process a few years ago, you would think that someone would have asked about hurricane/tornado/earthquake exposure in deciding which bases to close. I really want to hear the explanation behind this catastrophe.
