CIA chief heard recording of Khashoggi killing during Turkey visit: two sources
ISTANBUL (Reuters) - CIA director Gina Haspel heard an audio recording of the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi during her visit to Turkey this week, two sources told Reuters on Thursday, the first indication Ankara has shared its key evidence.

The killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a critic of Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has sparked global condemnation and mushroomed into a major crisis for the world's top oil exporter.

Saudi Arabia first denied any role in Khashoggi's disappearance before blaming his Oct. 2 death at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on a botched attempt to return him to the kingdom.

On Thursday, Saudi state Ekhbariya TV quoted the Saudi public prosecutor as saying Khashoggi's murder was premeditated, and that prosecutors were interrogating suspects on the basis of information provided by a joint Saudi-Turkish task force.

Turkey has dismissed Saudi efforts to blame rogue operatives and urged the kingdom to search from "top to bottom" for those responsible for the killing of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of the Saudi leadership.

Hillary Clinton Makes 'Get Out The Vote' Tour Stop In Tijuana
[Babylon Bee] TIJUANA ‐ Democratic party icon Hillary Clinton held a "Get Out & Vote!" tour stop in Mexico's populous border city Tijuana Tuesday. Clinton stated that "the Republicans will lose the midterm elections because they are neglecting our minorities, while we're able to inspire many Mexican nationals to get out there and vote."

"Uh... Pokemon VAMINOS to the polls!" she added before aides silenced her.

Tour organizers claim Democrat voter registration is already healthy in Tijuana and surrounding Mexican cities but hoped that Clinton could inspire higher voter turnout in the coming midterms. They further claimed it's beneficial to the Democrats' cause to have Clinton not talk very much ahead of important elections, so they wanted to get her out of the country.

Barack Obama was reported to have been a part of the tour stop but didn't want to leave the country in fear of being unable to continue stabilizing the economy. "If there is anyone that can bring the people of Tijuana to the polls, it is my dear friend Hillary," said Obama. "We'll entrust this important task of registering foreign voters to her while I keep things together here in the States."

The tour will continue into Mexico, then make its way back into the U.S.‐but not before Clinton makes scheduled stump speeches at several local cemeteries.

Fake Luftwaffe plane crashes on Pelosi home 'bomb' and strafing mission - Pilot survives, taken prisoner
[DFP] CAMARILLO, Calif., A World War II-era plane crash landed on a Southern California highway Tuesday afternoon but the pilot was able to walk away, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department was notified at 1:48 p.m. PDT about the plane along the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near the Liberty Canyon Road exit in Agoura Hills.

Crews arrived to find the plane on fire, billowing smoke. The fire was put out by 2:14 p.m., fire officials said. The pilot was removed uninjured, they said.

The crash landing clogged traffic in the region during busy commuter hours.

Allen Kenitzer, a spokesman with the Federal Aviation Administration, said the agency had been notified of the crash and that the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board were going to investigate. Aside from the plane's model and the substantial damage it sustained, little was known so far about the incident.

Dem Candidate Katie Porter Backs Reparations, Far-Left Agenda
[Freebeacon] A document that was deleted from the website of a progressive group shows Democratic congressional candidate Katie Porter, who is running in California's competitive 45th district against Republican representative Mimi Walters, would immediately back a far-left agenda and legislation if elected to Congress, including creating a commission to study reparations for slavery.
Give Katie a break. She thinks and acts no differently than any other democrat.
The document was uploaded to the Progressive Democrats of America's website but was deleted after the Washington Free Beacon contacted the group over a similar document in relation to Harley Rouda, the Democratic candidate in California's 48th congressional district. Before contacting the group about Rouda's answers, the Free Beacon downloaded responses by other candidates in the event the group scrubbed the files from the site, which they did.

On a questionnaire Porter submitted to the Progressive Democrats of America as she was seeking the group's endorsement, she signaled that she would support far-left legislation despite telling CNBC in early September that Democrats would "go to work in a serious way on the most pressing issues facing Americans."

Porter signaled that she would immediately support the likes of the Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act, the creation of a Department of Peacebuilding, the Jobs for All Act, the Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act, and the Raise the Wage Act, among a slew of other pieces of far-left legislation.

USAF C-17 Loadmaster dusts off resume
[ABC News] CAMERON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A C-17 military plane dropped a Humvee prematurely over a neighborhood in Harnett County Wednesday afternoon, Fort Bragg officials confirmed.

No one was injured.

The neighborhood is in the town of Cameron. This incident occurred around 1 p.m. during a training exercise.

"A load of some kind was released early and we're looking into how it happened," said Michael Novogradac, a spokesman for the USArmy's Operational Test Command.

The C-17 aircraft carries supplies and equipment into war zones and, on Wednesday, the special operations team was practicing that type of scenario when the accident happened.

Could the bombs that targeted Democrats win them the midterm elections?
[Washington Examiner] Democrats are gearing up to use attempted bomb attacks on frequent objects of President Trump’s criticism, including the Clintons and former President Barack Obama, as part of their closing argument less than two weeks out from the midterm elections.

Although Trump denounced these "despicable acts," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said his "words ring hollow until he reverses his statements that condone acts of violence," listing his reaction to Charlottesville, praise for a congressman who body-slammed a reporter, description of media outlets as the "enemy of the people," and encouragement of fights at his raucous campaign rallies as examples of his coarsening of the public discourse and incitement of a violent political culture.

It’s a tactic that has worked before. Then-President Bill Clinton struck back at anti-government rhetoric in the aftermath of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing and eventually used a heroic survivor of that attack to rebuke congressional Republicans for government shutdowns. "I challenge all of you in this chamber: Never, ever shut the federal government down again," he said in his 1996 State of the Union address.

Some have credited Clinton’s response to Oklahoma City with saving his presidency after the 1994 elections dramatically handed Congress to Republicans for the first time in decades. "The haters and extremists didn’t go away, but they were on the defensive, and, for the rest of my term, would never quite regain the position they had enjoyed after Timothy McVeigh took the demonization of government beyond the limits of humanity," he wrote in his memoirs.

Trump administration approves first oil and gas drilling in Alaska's federal waters
[Wash Examiner] The Interior Department on Wednesday approved what would be the first oil and gas production facility in federal waters off the coast of Alaska, part of the Trump administration’s effort to expand where the U.S. produces fossil fuels.

Energy company Hilcorp proposes to build a nine-acre artificial gravel island in shallow waters of the Beaufort Sea in the Arctic Ocean, calling it the Liberty Project. The project would be near four other oil and gas producing artificial islands in waters that the state controls.

"Responsibly developing our resources, in Alaska especially, will allow us to use our energy diplomatically to aid our allies and check our adversaries," Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said. "That makes America stronger and more influential around the globe."

Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) issued conditional approval for the project after evaluating the potential environmental impacts, and incorporating input from the public, and from North Slope communities and tribes. Hilcorp still must obtain other permits from local, state, and federal agencies before moving forward with construction, development, and production, according to Guy Hayes, a BOEM spokesman.

Study: People With Fewer Sex Partners Report Happier Marriages
[Atlantic] If you are on the proverbial market, as you rack up phone swipes, first dates, and‐likely‐new sexual partners, you might start to ask yourself, Is all this dating going to make me happier with whomever I end up with?

In other words, are you actually getting any closer to finding "the one"? Or are you simply stuck on a hedonic treadmill of potential lovers, doomed like some sort of sexual Sisyphus to be perpetually close to finding your soul mate, only to realize‐far, far too late‐that they are deal-breakingly disappointing?

Well, sociology has some unfortunate news!

Over at the Institute for Family Studies, Nicholas Wolfinger, a sociologist at the University of Utah, has found that Americans who have only ever slept with their spouses are most likely to report being in a "very happy" marriage. Meanwhile, the lowest odds of marital happiness‐about 13 percentage points lower than the one-partner women‐belong to women who have had six to 10 sexual partners in their lives. For men, there’s still a dip in marital satisfaction after one partner, but it’s never as low as it gets for women, as Wolfinger’s graph shows:

Communist forces advance on the Stone Mountain memorial
[Guardian] The Lasershow Spectacular (™) is a celebration of brand America. Its huge 3D video projection ("taller than the Statue of Liberty!") pulls out all the stops ‐ depicting patriotic icons from bald eagles to Mickey Mouse to towering letters spelling U-S-A, with lots of fiery explosions and a rousing musical score with at least eight separate key changes. The official website boasts that "the Lasershow is now so spectacular, the FAA must be consulted to ensure airplanes don’t become blinded by lasers."

Families visiting the park, which is Georgia’s most popular tourist attraction, come here to picnic on the grand lawn and gaze up at the show, which is projected directly on to Stone Mountain’s Confederate monument. Europe
How the Kremlin Manipulates Europe's Refugee Crisis and Possibly More
Excerpt:
[Observer - 04/06/16] The hand of Russian intelligence behind some European far-right politicians and sensationalist news stories can be detected by those with the skilled eyes to see it, but there have also been nagging questions about whether the Kremlin is stoking the migrant crisis itself. It’s undeniably true that Syria, a Russian client state, has been perfectly happy to export its huge refugee problem to Europe, while Mr. Putin’s military intervention in that bloody civil war last year has only increased the flows of desperate Syrian refugees seeking sanctuary in the West.

But does Russian intelligence play a more direct role in encouraging migrants to head for the EU? Several Western security services have hinted at this reality, but only recently have any European governments been willing to go on the record with their concerns. In mid-February, Finland’s defense minister bluntly stated that the flow of migrants into his country via Russia was "our most serious challenge." Now, with refugees taking an Arctic route into the EU from Russia in unprecedented numbers, Helsinki is openly accusing the Kremlin and its intelligence services of flooding Finland, and therefore the EU, with refugees as a political weapon to destabilize Europe.

This notion, which may sound far-fetched to neophytes, is taken very seriously by leading EU and NATO members, particularly those unlucky enough to be located close to Russia. "This is all the FSB," explained a senior security official from one of NATO’s border states, referring to Russia’s powerful Federal Security Service. "Migrants go where the FSB sends them, many of the human traffickers are FSB agents," adding that for the Kremlin this is a "win-win since it gets the migrants out of their lap and drops them in ours."
Emphasis added.

#1  If it worked for the Russians in destabilizing Europe, perhaps it will work for the Russians using Cuban proxy, Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro against the U.S.

Did someone see it coming ?

A year ago President Trump said the U.S. was considering a "military option" for Venezuela, and last month Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio said there's now "a very strong argument" that Venezuela presents a security threat to South America that calls for the use of the U.S. military.

Seemed like a rather strange statement from Senator Rubio at the time. Perhaps not so strange in light of recent events.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
'The Camp of the Saints' - Judge Napolitano gets it wrong again
[Wash Times] In Jean Raspail’s 1973 dystopian novel, "The Camp of the Saints," about 1 million poor folks from India make their way on hundreds of ships around the southern tip of Africa and up to the French Riviera. The international media use helicopters to follow the flotilla, and the news of the flotilla’s movements dominates the headlines for weeks.

As the flotilla gets closer to France, panic sets in, and fear becomes a political weapon. The government doesn’t know what to do. The president of France finally orders the French military to secure the borders and use deadly force to prevent the flotilla from landing.

Then, after pangs of conscience set in and animate him, the president tells senior military personnel to instruct their troops to use their own judgment and do the right thing. With the exception of some stereotypical holdouts, the military members take their arms and flee into the countryside.

The flotilla lands. The passengers have no desire to assimilate, and they murder people who do not welcome them. They change immigration laws and become a paradigm for other mass migrations. Across the West, pro-immigrant governments are established.

When the book was first published, it found favor in many nativist quarters. It is brilliantly written, and the standard English translation offers compelling reading and is hard to put down. It is also rabidly racist, portraying nearly all in the West as thoughtful, intelligent and honest and nearly everyone of color as avaricious, lazy and amoral.

#3  It is also rabidly racist, portraying nearly all in the West as thoughtful, intelligent and honest and nearly everyone of color as avaricious, lazy and amoral.

Throughout the book, Raspail does consistently describe the invaders as brown. Which they are. But if you read through to the end, the author explicitly makes the point that it is all about culture and skin color has nothing to do with it.

The book was disturbing in that the Europeans simply threw up their hands and did nothing to stop the invasion. Doubly so when the same events, differing only by scale and continent of origin, played out on the daily news. And now, we are watching it again. I can only hope the ending will be different this time.

Syrian Army launches powerful attack against jihadist rebels in west Aleppo
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful assault in the western part of Aleppo, tonight, a military source told al-Masdar News.

Led by their Elite Republican Guard forces, the Syrian Arab Army fired a large number of missiles and artillery shells towards the jihadist rebels in the al-Zahra’a, Kafr Hamra, and al-Layramoun areas of Aleppo.

The Syrian Arab Army is still striking these three areas at the moment, with most of their missiles and shells concentrated on the positions of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham

Tonight’s attack by the Syrian Arab Army comes just days after they threatened to strike the jihadist rebels in western Aleppo if they did not withdraw from the designated buffer zone.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham responded to the Syrian Arab Army’s threats last week by firing several missiles at the western districts of Aleppo city.

The Syrian Army is awaiting approval from their high command and Russian military advisers to launch their ground assault in western Aleppo.

[MiamiHerald] A political action committee launched by parents of Parkland students is scaling back its 2018 midterm plans in the wake of disappointing fund raising totals.

The group, Families vs. Assault Rifles, was launched in May by Jeffrey Kasky and Sergio Rozenblat, the parents of students who survived the February 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

The pair worked with Matt Gohd, the group’s California-based executive director, who said he was inspired by the shooting to become more involved politically.

“I have a teenage daughter, I wanted to feel like I had done everything I could to make sure this didn’t happen again,” Gohd said.

US renews call on Pakistan to cut off extremists
[DAWN] United States (US) Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday renewed calls on Pakistain to curb turbans fighting in Afghanistan, saying Washington was holding its uneasy war partner accountable.

Pompeo made the comment as he welcomed long-delayed legislative elections in Afghanistan, saying the US was "encouraged" by voter turnout, despite reports of widespread problems including poll centres that failed to open or lacked voter rolls.

"Our expectation is that Pakistain will not provide safe harbour to forces of Evil on their western border," Pompeo told news hounds when asked about Islamabad's role.

"We couldn't have made that message any more clear," he said, adding: "Pakistain will be held to account if they don't achieve that, if they're not sincere in that effort."

"Everyone wants a reconciliation in Afghanistan and to achieve that, you can't have a safe harbour for Taliban

Egypt police kill 11 'fugitive terrorists' in shootout in Western Desert
[aalAhram] Egyptian security forces have killed 11 runaway bully boyz in a shootout in the country's Western Desert, the interior ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

The shootout occurred during a dawn raid on a hideout in a mountainous area in the Farafra Oasis region, southwest of Cairo, the ministry said in a statement published on its official Facebook page.

The "terrorists" were killed after they opened fire on security forces when they approached them, the ministry said, adding that authorities are still determining their identities.

Four machine guns, three pistols, five boom belts, a handgun and a rifle were found at the hideout, the statement said.

Egypt in February launched a large-scale operation against holy warriors that have launched numerous attacks on security forces and civilians in recent years, killing hundreds.
The Times of Israel adds:
The area is near the city of Assiut, some 320 kilometers, or 200 miles, from Cairo.

[An Nahar] Saudi authorities denied permission to Ottoman Turkish police to search a well in the garden of the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul as part of a probe into the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, state media reported Wednesday.

Weary Central American migrants still far from reaching US border
[DAWN] Thousands of Central American migrants colonists awoke on Tuesday in a makeshift encampment in a rain-soaked town square in far-southern Mexico, some weary, foot-sore and coughing, still distant from their goal of reaching the US border.

The caravan, estimated to include more than 7,000 people, had advanced about 75kms since crossing the border from Guatemala, and still faced more than 1,000 miles, and likely much further, to the end of the journey.

But as the sun rose, a chorus of coughs arose from the shapeless forms wrapped in blankets and bits of plastic sheeting.

Burned by the relentless heat and the night’s chill, eating badly and sleeping rough, many appeared to be developing respiratory symptoms.

Forty-eight-year-old Edwin Enrique Jimenez Flores of Tela, Honduras had one of those persistent coughs, but still vowed to reach the US to seek work.

"I feel strong. My feet are good," he said.

But Marlon Anibal Castellanos, a 27-year-old former bus driver from San Pedro Sula was finding the journey difficult as he prepared to rest Monday night. He was travelling with his wife as well as his nine-year-old daughter and six-year-old son.

"It’s difficult to travel with children," he said. "Today we walked six hours" before finally paying 25 pesos about $1.30 from their thin savings to a passing van driver who took then the rest of the way to Huixtla.

"It’s dangerous. There are no ambulances and if the children pass out, they could die because there is no [medical] help."

Houthis step up security fearing coup ministers will flee Sanaa
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
coup militias tightened their security and monitoring measures against officials and ministers in the coup government in Sanaa, fearing they might break away and flee to areas under the control of the Yemeni legitimate government.

The pro-Iranian militias staged a wide campaign of arrests involving officers of the former Elite Republican Guard.

According to security sources, a number of its senior political officials, among them Yahya al-Raii, the speaker of the lower house of parliament, who has been assigned a security team and a driver of the Houthis, are under house arrest.

The Houthi militias’ measures are nothing new, as ministers in their coup government suffer from marginalization, mistreatment and strict control, after the Minister of Tourism Nasser Baqzquz submitted his resignation and his request to allow him to leave Sana’a as a result of threats from the Director of the Office of the President of the so-called Supreme Political Council of the coup militias.

The deputy minister of education in the coup-government of the Houthi pro-Iranian militias, Dr. Abdullah al-Hamdi, said that he broke with the militias, calling to rise up against these rejected militias from 90% of the Yemeni people who are suffering from hunger, death and poverty due to the militias.

US Special Forces clash with unknown group near Manbij city
[ALMASDARNEWS] The U.S. Coalition clashed with an unknown group in northeastern Aleppo this week after the latter opened fire on a base near the city of Manbij.

"They [coalitions forces] received gunfire from undisclosed persons and returned fire, and it ended quickly, skirmish at best," Army Colonel Sean Ryan, Spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), told Kurdistan 24.

"But we don’t know who fired and it was during a US-MMC [Manbij Military Council] patrol," he added.

According to Kurdistan 24, a Syrian Kurdish journalist Hosheng Hesen posted a video on his Twitter account that reportedly showed the festivities between US troops in Manbij and armed rebel factions backed by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

"US troops stationed in Manbij clash with the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed factions. On the 15th of this month, the armed Ottoman Turkish-backed factions targeted the village of Bughaz in Manbij," he wrote on Twitter.

Texas to investigate Democrats' mailers asking non-citizens to register to vote
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Texas Secretary of State Rolando Pablos confirmed this week that he has asked state Attorney General Ken Paxton to open an investigation into the Democratic Party’s attempts to ask non-citizens to sign up to vote.

"The numerous calls and complaints we have received regarding pre-filled voter registration applications sent to ineligible voters are highly disturbing," Mr. Pablos said in a statement Monday.

He was referring to mail the state Democratic Party sent out urging people to sign up to vote, and warning of deadlines if they didn’t act quickly. The mailing included a voter application that already had the boxes for age and citizenship status pre-checked.

Some of the mail went to non-citizens, who are actually ineligible.

The mailings, while sent from the state party, had pre-addressed return envelopes addressed to elections officials, leaving some residents with the impression they were official communications from the state.

Encouraging someone to submit a fraudulent registration form is a crime ‐ though officials said it would take an investigation to know whether the party’s mailings cross that line.

The Washington Times reported on the mailings last week after the Public Interest Legal Foundation filed complaints with prosecutors in two Texas counties.

Deadly air strike hits vegetable market in Hodeidah
[Al Jazeera] At least 10 people were killed in an air raid that struck a group of farmers in a vegetable market in Yemen's Hodeidah province, medical workers and residents said.

The Saudi-UAE alliance, which has carried out hundreds of air strikes in the country, said it was investigating the incident.

At least nine others were killed in the attack in Bayt al-Faqih, around 70km south of the city of Hodeidah, according to medical sources, while Houthi

Al Jazeera could not immediately verify the number of casualties, which were reported by Rooters.

In June, forces loyal to Yemen's government, alongside Saudi and Emirati forces, launched an offensive to take the city of Hodeidah from Houthi rebels, but have struggled to make significant gains.

After rocket fire, Israeli aircraft bomb Hamas targets in Gaza Strip
[IsraelTimes] IDF fires Iron Dome interceptor but apparently misses target, which falls in open area of southern Israel; residents rush to bomb shelters after alarms sound

Israeli aircraft bombed several targets in the Gazoo Strip early Thursday, the IDF said after a single rocket was fired into Israel, ending a week-long stretch of relative calm in the Gazoo Strip.

The army said IAF aircraft struck Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", targets in the north of the Strip and in the south near the towns of Khan Younis and Rafah. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

The IDF said it hit eight targets at the three sites, including Hamas training bases and a weapons production facility.

Late Wednesday, Paleostinian forces of Evil in Gazoo fired a single missile into Israel from the Gazoo Strip, the army said, with the projectile apparently falling in an open field despite after a failed interception attempt. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The IDF said it had identified a single launch from the Strip toward Israel and "an interceptor was fired at it."

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
the missile apparently missed its target, Israel Radio reported, and the rocket from Gazoo landed in an open field in southern Israel.

Residents of the area reported hearing the sounds of kabooms following the sirens.

The Israeli military initially said it was investigating what triggered the sirens, which sounded in the communities of Urim and Patish in the central Negev.

An Eshkol region spokesperson said emergency response personnel were searching the area.

The alarms ended a relative calm that has persisted in the Gazoo Strip region following a flareup between the Hamas terrorist group and Israel last Wednesday, which was sparked by a rocket launched from the coastal enclave that struck a home in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.

Somali Clan Clashes Kill More than 40 in Two Days
[An Nahar] Clashes between rival clans have killed more than 40 people in two days in a disputed region of northern Somalia, one of the worst such confrontations seen in the area, local officials and elders said.

The festivities began early Tuesday and continued on Wednesday around remote villages in the Sool region between militias from rival Darod sub-clans.

"We are calling for a ceasefire from the brotherly clans, this is a serious situation we have more than 40 people killed since yesterday and nearly 100 others are maimed," Ismail Yasin, a traditional elder from the region, said Wednesday.

Mohammed Abdulahi, a security official in the regional capital Galkayo said the "corpse count is nearly 50, this is the deadliest conflict in the area."

Most of the casualties were reported in the village of Dhumay.

Local elders said the fighting between Dhulbahante militias in the Sool region was still ongoing, with the use of heavy weaponry.

The region has long been disputed between the breakaway state of Somaliland and the semi-autonomous Somali state of Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
, whose rival forces last clashed in May, leaving dozens dead.

Somalia's myriad clans -- made up of sub-clans and extended networks -- are a defining feature of society and identity.

NY Times delivers Trump assassination stories for its rubes
An excerpt:
[JustOneMinute] The Russian landed at Dulles after 48 hours of traveling. Of necessity, he came from Moscow by a circuitous route. A long way with a very specific task. There would be no return flight.

(snip)

When it was time, he went downstairs, took his place in the lobby before the entourage appeared. The hotel staff had been lined up to see their boss, the president, go by. A few of them applauded. Most did not.

The president didn’t seem to notice. He waved, in his desultory fashion. The Secret Service agents clustered around him, ushered him toward the armored limo idling outside at the curb.

The Russian waited until they were a few steps past before he drew the gun. He sighted on the center of the president’s back, and squeezed the trigger.

The Makarov misfired.

The Secret Service agent at the president’s shoulder heard the click, spun into a crouch. He registered the scene instantly, drawing his own weapon with razor-edge reflexes.

The Russian tasted failure. He closed his eyes and waited to pay the cost.

It did not come.

He opened his eyes. The Secret Service agent stood before him, presenting his Glock, butt first.

“Here,” the agent said politely. “Use mine. …”

Pakistan rejects Afghanistan's 'baseless' allegations on Kandahar attack
[DAWN] Pakistain on Wednesday rejected Kabul's "baseless" and "unfounded allegations" regarding a recent attack in Kandahar, in which three top Afghan officials were killed when their own guards opened fire on them.

The FO's comments come a day after Afghanistan's Caped President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
alleged that the attack on slain Kandahar police commander Gen Abdul Raziq was planned in Pakistain, Tolo News reported.

"I want to say that this conspiracy was plotted in Pakistain. So Pakistain should give us the criminals so that we can bring them to justice," Ghani claimed.

A Foreign Office (FO) statement, without referring to specific statements, said: "Pakistain rejects baseless and unfounded allegations regarding the latest Kandahar attacks. No hard evidence or intelligence-related information has been shared to date with Pakistain to substantiate such claims."

The FO pointed out that "it would have been more appropriate to invoke the relevant arrangement" under the Afghanistan-Pakistain Action Plan for Peace and Stability "to mutually and effectively address and investigate any such unfortunate incidents... instead of resorting to media blame game which is contrary to the seven principles of cooperation agreed between the two sides earlier this year."

#10  P2K, generally speaking your right. But in this instance their command structure was higher than 10th Mountain. 10th should have been subordinate to the TF. Even so, the SOCOM TF supports the AOR commander, but does not report to him. The TF commander is required to deconflict operations, which he did. He is under zero requirement to share any mission planning or execution. If we remember in the late 80's and early 90's conventional forced did not know how to work with SOF and did not want them in their AOR, Desert Storm is a great example of a 4 star not wanting SOF and then realizing he had to have it, and not control it. Times have changed and conventional forces commander have a better understanding of how the SOF missions work and who is pulling the trigger on approvals for those missions.
I hear all the time we did not need to be there. I think this crowd gets it, but that usually implies the guys got what they deserved for being there. These guy at TF Ranger went where the president directed them, they executed the presidential directives, its not their call if the war is just or not.
Lastly, what got them in trouble is they used the same approach, departure, and execution templates. That made their actions predictive. A mistake that will never happen again in SOF.

Iran's Rouhani: Khashoggi murder unthinkable 'without US backing'
And yet someone somehow thunk it.
[PULSE.NG] Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's "heinous murder" would have been unthinkable "without US backing," Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday.

"I don't think that any country would dare do such a thing without US backing," Rouhani said in remarks to cabinet broadcast on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
Rouhani said that before Khashoggi's murder "it would have been unthinkable that in this day and age we would witness such an organised felony.

"It is extremely significant that an institution planned such a heinous murder.

"The tribal group that is ruling that nation (Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
) has a security margin. That security margin is that it relies on US backing. It is this superpower that is backing them."

Khashoggi, a government critic who was living in self-imposed exile in the United States, was murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 as he organised the paperwork for his marriage to his Ottoman Turkish fiancee.

The case has triggered an international outcry against Saudi Arabia. US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
on Tuesday ridiculed Riyadh's response as "one of the worst cover-ups" in history.

Iran had been silent about the Khashoggi case until Monday when its judiciary chief slammed Saudi Arabia over his death.

"This heinous murder further revealed the nature of Saudis, their kingdom and that young man who is seeking fame and murdering innocent people," Sadegh Amoli Larijani was quoted as saying by the judiciary's news agency Mizan Online, apparently referring to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

Europe
France seeks to bring home jihadists' kids from Syria
[PULSE.NG] La Belle France is seeking to repatriate some of the 150 children of French jihadists identified as being in Syria, as Western nations grapple with how to handle citizens who left to join Death Eaters.

A French official, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, said Gay Paree would repatriate the children "as much as is possible, on the condition that the mother agrees".

"We're starting to look at how this might work," the source added.

French authorities only have a precise location for some of the children, making these the only viable cases for potential repatriation, the source said, declining to give figures.

The cases of the 150 youngsters, some of whom are being held in camps in Kurdish-held northern Syria after the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group was driven from the area, were flagged up by authorities there or by their families in La Belle France.

Most are under six years old and were born in Syria.

The mothers of any repatriated children would be left in Syria, the source said.

Like other Western nations reluctant to bring jihadists back onto their soil, La Belle France has so far ruled out repatriating men who left to fight alongside IS, or women who left to marry them.

"Those who committed crimes in Iraq and Syria must be brought to justice in Iraq and Syria," the foreign ministry said.

"Minors are the exception, and their situation will be examined on a case by case basis. We have a duty to protect children's interests."

Yet bringing the children to La Belle France will be highly complicated, not least because Kurdish-held Syria is not a recognised state, and Gay Paree has cut off diplomatic ties with Damascus.

US firms face tariff-fueled price hikes, widespread labor shortages: Fed
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] US firms nationwide complain trade disputes with China and others are boosting the prices of key inputs, while they continue to face widespread labor shortages, the Federal Reserve said Wednesday.

The ongoing difficulty in filling open positions at all skill levels and in every region is delaying projects and pressuring firms to raise wages or benefits ‐ or even employ robots to ramp up production ‐ according to the Fed’s latest "beige book" survey of the economy.

While the reports from the Fed’s regional banks reflected a healthy US economy, with "modest to moderate growth," President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s aggressive tariff strategy, which has drawn retaliation from trading partners, is potentially adding fuel to inflation.

The central bank is watching price pressures closely to gauge how fast and how far to raise the benchmark lending rate, to allow the economy to continue to grow without an acceleration of inflation.

The Fed has raised the key interest rate three times this year and is widely expected to increase by another 0.25 percentage points in December.

"Manufacturers reported raising prices of finished goods out of necessity as costs of raw materials such as metals rose, which they attributed to tariffs," the Fed report said.

Israeli police forcibly remove Coptic protesters in Jerusalem
[Al Jazeera] Israeli police broke up a sit-in by Coptic monks at a major Christian holy site in Jerusalem as they were protesting against restoration work at a nearby monastery claimed by their sect.

Scuffles broke out on Wednesday between police and priests in the forecourt of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where many Christians believe Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected.

"The police attacked us and forced us to leave the area," Coptic Orthodox Church front man Father Markos Al Orshalimy told AFP news agency, following the protest in front of the holy site.

Al Orshalimy said several monks had been lightly injured, while one was placed in durance vile

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, located in Jerusalem’s Old City, is shared by several Christian denominations. A long-standing status quo governs the sects’ ownership and management of the holy site. Each group is fiercely protective of its territory, and even perceived alterations to the status quo have resulted in arguments or violence.

The Copts were protesting the start of restoration work by the Israel Antiquities Authority at the St. Michael the Archangel Chapel, which both the Ethiopian and Egyptian Orthodox churches claim.

The antiquities authority was to perform repairs after a stone fell out of place in the chapel in September 2017.

On Wednesday, police said priests blocked the entrance and barred the workers’ entry, and officers were forced to remove the monks who were blocking workers from accessing the building site.

Palestinian said killed by soldiers in northern West Bank clash
[IsraelTimes] Residents of Tammun village attack troops with stones and fireworks during predawn raid, army says

A Paleostinian man was killed overnight in festivities with Israeli soldiers in a northern West Bank village, Paleostinian media reported.

A riot broke out when troops entered the village of Tammun, close to Jenin, during a predawn raid.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, some 50 Paleostinians threw rocks and set off fireworks at the soldiers that entered the village.

In response, the troops fired live rounds, as well as tear gas, at the rioters, the military said.

The official Paleostinian Authority news agency Wafa reported that the man was shot in the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

A medical source identified the dear departed as Muhammed Bisharat, 21, according to Wafa.

The report said approximately ten other Paleostinians suffered from various injuries.

No Israeli soldiers were reported injured.

A military spokesperson said she was aware of the reports of Paleostinian casualties, but refused to comment further.

In predawn raids across the West Bank, Israeli troops enjugged
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
16 Paleostinian suspects, the army said.

They were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for further questioning.

Israeli forces arrest several Palestinians suspected of aiding Barkan terrorist

[Ynet] Israeli security forces incarcerated
Please don't kill me!
several Paleostinians early Wednesday who are suspected of aiding terrorist Ashraf Na'alwa, who murdered two Israelis in a terror attack at the Barkan industrial zone.

The arrest, which was done by undercover forces in the Tulkarm area as part of the manhunt for the terrorist, constitutes a significant development in the investigation into the attack.

The IDF and Border Police said that during the arrest, forces shot up the home of one of the suspects who was feared to be armed.

So Venezuela was behind the great Honduras migrant caravan all along?
By Monica Showalter

[AmericanThinker] According to Vice President Mike Pence, Honduras's president, Juan Orlando Hernández, told him that the illegal migrant caravan heading from his country through Mexico on to the U.S. is the work of Chavista Venezuela, with that country's oil cash being employed to destabilize both countries.

Here's what Breitbart reported, citing an interview with the Washington Post's Bob Costa:

MBS Says Khashoggi Murder 'Repulsive Incident', Talks to Erdogan
[An Nahar] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's crown prince Wednesday denounced the murder of critic Jamal Khashoggi as a "repulsive incident," insisting the kingdom was cooperating with Ottoman Turkish authorities and that "justice will prevail."

"The incident was very painful for all Saudis, it's a repulsive incident and no one can justify it," Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
said in his first comments since the murder of the journalist.

"Those responsible will be held accountable... in the end justice will prevail," the prince said, speaking in Arabic during an address to the Future Investment Initiative Forum in Riyadh.

"Many are trying to exploit the Khashoggi affair to drive a wedge between Saudi Arabia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
," he said.

"But they will not succeed as long as there is a king named Salman and a crown prince named Mohammed bin Salman," MBS stressed.

Earlier in the day, a Ottoman Turkish presidential source said MBS and Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
discussed steps to "shed light" on Khashoggi's murder, in their first telephone conversation since the killing.

Erdogan has far spoken twice on the phone with Saudi King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Lord of Most of the Arabians....
since Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor and Riyadh critic, was killed inside the Saudi consulate on October 2, which he had visited to obtain documents for his marriage to a Ottoman Turkish woman.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Day 2: Explosive Devices Sent to Clinton, Obama, CNN, Former Head of Democratic National Committee
The final report as of 10:09 ET last night, giving us a place to add today’s revelations, which hopefully will include the identity and purpose of the miscreant. Yesterday’s post on the George Soros bomb can be seen here; the post on the rest of the bombs found yesterday can be seen here.
[WSJ] Devices are similar to one found Monday in the mailbox of philanthropist George Soros’s New York home.

Federal officials later found similarly packaged explosives addressed to Mr. Obama’s Washington, D.C., residence and sent to CNN’s headquarters and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Florida office. Two suspicious packages addressed to Rep. Maxine Waters of California were also intercepted.

Officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation released a photo of one of the packages, saying they were mailed in envelopes with a Bubble Wrap interior. Computer-printed address labels and six U.S. Postal Service stamps, some depicting the U.S. flag, were affixed to the front. All had a return address for “Debbie Wasserman Shultz,” with her last name misspelled.

Investigators believe the packages came from the same individual or individuals, officials said. As of Wednesday evening, law-enforcement officials said they hadn’t identified any suspects. A federal official described all the devices—none of which exploded—as “very similar in style,” potentially effective but “not sophisticated.”

The packages were similar to one found Monday in the mailbox of the Westchester County, N.Y., home of billionaire philanthropist George Soros, a prominent liberal donor, officials said. Authorities detonated that device and the evidence was sent to an FBI laboratory in Virginia, where all the devices are being analyzed.

The string of mail bombs led to tightened security around Washington, D.C., and New York City. It also drew widespread condemnation from both political parties two weeks ahead of the midterm elections.

The Secret Service said it had initiated a criminal investigation into the packages sent to Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton, both of whom receive Secret Service protection. Mr. Obama is protected as a former president, and Mrs. Clinton remains under protection as a former first lady.

Bombing incidents remain relatively uncommon in the U.S. falling 24% to 335 incidents last year from the year before, according to federal data.

The FBI said it was working with other law enforcement agencies. The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which has technical expertise on such matters, is also part of the investigation as is the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

On Tuesday night, the Secret Service recovered a single package containing an explosive device at a checkpoint outside the Chappaqua, N.Y., home of Bill and Hillary Clinton. The package was addressed to her, according to the Secret Service.

Secret Service agents then discovered another package addressed to Mr. Obama early Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Both packages were identified during mail-screen procedures, and neither reached Mr. Obama or Mrs. Clinton.

The New York Police Department then warned businesses, urging security and mailroom staff to be on the lookout for suspicious packages, according to a senior law-enforcement official. The NYPD said that the suspicious packages might contain protruding wires, excessive or missing postage stamps, strange odors and oily stains on wrappers.

NYPD officials were in the CNN mailroom in Manhattan’s Time Warner Center advising staff on the warning signs when they found a package addressed to John Brennan, director of the Central Intelligence Agency under Mr. Obama. The package contained a pipe-bomb and white powder, according to Police Commissioner James O’Neill.

It wasn’t clear why the device found at CNN was addressed to Mr. Brennan.

Wednesday morning, bomb squads were dispatched to the Sunrise, Fla., office of Ms. Wasserman Schultz, a former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. A pipe bomb was found there in a package addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder, who worked for the Obama administration, the FBI said.

The package didn’t reach its intended address, and was rerouted to Ms. Wasserman Schultz’s office, which was given as the return address, the FBI said.

A suspicious package intended for Ms. Waters in Washington was intercepted at a congressional mail facility in Maryland, the lawmaker said Wednesday. The FBI later confirmed it was also investigating a second package addressed to the lawmaker.
The Telegraph is liveblogging events here.
Update at 10:00a.m. EDT: My apologies — they were only liveblogging yesterday. Today they report only an article from noon Greenwich time reporting that former vice president Joe Biden and Robert DeNiro’s New York city restaurant were sent bombs.
The Daily Mail started a new article on the story last night at 9:23 EDT:
Feds trying to track down a SEVENTH suspicious package sent to former Vice President Joe Biden while authorities investigate another device delivered to Maxine Waters
[DailyMail]
  • Delaware police conduct sweep of Biden's 7,000 square foot home in Greenville

  • Authorities believe that the package may still be in the mail system because it was misaddressed

  • Meanwhile, a second suspicious package was sent to California Rep. Waters

  • The package forced the evacuation of a mall outside Los Angeles

  • The crude devices were made of PVC tubing attached to a digital clock available for purchase on Amazon and included sulfur as explosives and shards of glass as shrapnel
Right Scoop - NOT-BOOM!! Feds tell reporter that bombs were ‘COMPLETE HOAXES’!

This is a boom, not boom, update. Adam Housley says a federal official told him the bombs were complete fakes.
From fed source: “complete hoaxes” multiple wires when they only needed one. Reports of cell phones being involved was false. So no intention of harm. Now the questions. Dry run, or a false flag from the right or left trying to mess over the other side?

— Adam Housley (@adamhousley) October 24, 2018
Wow. That would be a huge.
Now, we have to be careful because this is complete contradiction to what was reported before:
Packages to Soros, Obamas, Clintons, Brennan c/o CNN, Holder -- these devices, per law enforcement sources, were rudimentary but functional.

Meaning the intent here was mass murder.

— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) October 24, 2018
Breaking: FBI says explosive devices “rudimentary but functional”, at least one included projectiles.

— Jim Sciutto (@jimsciutto) October 24, 2018

We should know pretty soon if they were real or not, which would make a big difference as to motivation, and what the attacks mean for the election….

[H/T: Crazy Korean lady on the podcast]

UPDATE: Just to be clear, I changed the headline to reporter, because Adam Housley is a former Fox News reporter, not a current one. I apologize for the mistake.

#18  Didnt 0bama's mentor Bill ayers send pipe bombs?
Posted by: Bright Pebbles || 10/25/2018 10:48 Comments || Top||

#19  The methods and timing of this is what first aroused my suspicions.

If the devices are all as shown in the Daily Mail photos:

BIG white lumpy envelope (instead of box) with huge address lettering (subtlety is not our friend, apparently). No stamp cancellations, unless scrubbed for security, shown in published photos (may have been hand-delivered somehow, but why put 3-bucks worth of stamps on them then? Maybe to fool the Mail Rooms?).

Using an $12 4-digit LCD timer (better than a blinking Red LED, so there's that) although the black electrical tape does give it a nice 'homegrown' appearance. Why spend the money on a LCD? A blank 555 chip/board would be cheaper, smaller and less obvious as to when it would time out.

Then there's a problem with the detonator battery (unless it's a 2nd item stuck inside the pipe itself). The nano-battery(s) in the timer wouldn't have enough juice to trigger a b-cap, 2301 Igniter, or even a short piece of nichrome wire, unless I'm unaware of some new nano-amp firing method. Cellphone batteries would have enough juice, but they'd be way too big for the timer in the photo. CR2032 or CR2430 might be enough if 'stacked', but then almost larger than timer.

And that they were delivered seemingly simultaneously. One (or even handful of) nutjob couldn't do this. Very coordinated.

The fact that none of these went off is sort of telling, too. Found right away, like someone almost knew where to look for them.

Then there's the '2-week prior' timing of this......
Posted by: Mullah Richard || 10/25/2018 11:24 Comments || Top||

#20  Real or not, I cant imagine the DNC being this stupid. I am certain we will find some far left fringe group that did this as a false flag. If the far right fringe did it, they would have exploded, the militias know how to make pipe bombs. The left will ride it for all its worth, but the crackpot that did this will be found, hopefully before the elections, and Just as the DC shooter was found, they will be leftists.

#24  Funny, DWS has not been an anything since she was fired for getting caught rigging the 2016 primary against Bernie Sanders.

In fact, the whole target pattern would suggest that, a pissed Sanders supporter or disillusioned hardcore democrat.

Then again, the CNN piece is a total fraud. Someone noticed the postage was completely off for an item that weight.
Posted by: swksvolFF || 10/25/2018 14:04 Comments || Top||

#25  It started with Soros - could he have sourced a false flag? I would not put him past it, he has organized people to do things like tank currencies, etc. before. Awfully convenient that these were delivered all over the place on the exact same day and that at least 2 of them in NYC were hand delivered.

So its either a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy that is competent enough to do a time-on-target but not competent enough to build a decent explosive device or package the bomb, or even get the postage right... Or someone out there is trying awfully hard to make it look like there is one.

Cameroon Bishop takes swipe at Biya’s re-election
[JOURNALDUCAMEROUN] The Archbishop of the Douala Metropolitan Archdiocese Samuel Kleda has taken a swipe at the re-election of Paul Biya for another seven-year mandate.

Paul Biya, 85, was declared winner of the October 7 Presidential election by the Constitutional Council on Monday with 71.28 percent of the votes far ahead of Maurice Kamto in second position with 14.23 percent.

Reacting to the reults, the Archbishop of Douala who also doubles as the President of the National Episcopal Conference however casts shadows of doubts over the results.

The Archbishop told a presser in Douala on Tuesday said it was impossible for Biya to overwhelmingly win in the Far North region where the population has been suffering as a result of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
a.

"I am not sure up to 89% of the people(in the Far North region)who have been going through alot of sufferings will go out to vote for the same person who has been in place doing nothing to ameliorate their conditions," His Lordship Samuel Kleda said.

Paul Biya equally got the lion’s share in the troubled North West and South West regions of Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
causing the Archbishop to ask where the voters came from given that a majority of the population has been displaced as a result of the conflict.

The drama at the Constitutional Council last week was equally on the menu for the Samuel Kleda who regretted the fact that all petitions filed in by the opposition caandidates were thrown out.

He argued that the opposition candidates had a strong case in their petitions especially the SDF’s ability to demonstrate irregularities in the North West and South West regions where few people voted.

Election results are known even before voters go to the polls in most Central African nations and Cameroon is not an exception, he regretted.

Europe
Migrants clash with police at Bosnian-Croatian border
[PULSE.NG] At least three migrants colonists were hurt Wednesday in a second day of skirmishes with police at Bosnia's border with EU member state Croatia, according to an AFP journalist, with several officers also reporting minor injuries.

The group are among thousands who have fled wars and poverty in Asia and North Africa and are now stuck in Bosnia's northwest region, many without proper shelter as winter looms, and making periodic attempts to pass into the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
through Croatia.

The violence on Wednesday broke out after around 100 people pushed through a Bosnian police cordon in a march towards the border with Croatia, where they were stopped by another column of anti-riot police from both countries.

Police used batons and pepper spray in a scuffle with those trying to cross the border, leaving three maimed, including one woman who was bleeding from the head.

Two Croatian coppers were also "slightly injured" by migrants colonists who threw stones, Croatia's interior ministry said in a statement.

Croatia's Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic repeated that his country would continue to "protect its border from illegal entries and migrations".

The migrants colonists, with young children among them, brought tents and appeared ready to spend another night on the roadside near Maljevac border crossing, despite cold weather.

On Wednesday they blocked any traffic from passing.

"We have no other choice, we don't have any money and we cannot stay here, we have no warm place, we don't have showers," Majid Dayyani, a 29-year-old Iranian, told AFP.

Aid groups have repeatedly warned that a humanitarian crisis is looming if better shelter and care is not provided before winter hits.

Bosnian authorities have not set up a formal centre in the northwest region where most migrants colonists are camped out.

Some 20,000 migrants colonists have registered in Bosnia since the start of the year, according to the security ministry.

Investigations showed that one of the two nationals received from the Qatari former minister sums of money to run for the parliamentary elections set to be held this year and to support his electoral campaign. Intensive investigation into the suspects' relation with the Qatari official, the purpose of receiving money from him and the motive behind funding the electoral campaign of one of the suspects revealed that the aim was to undermine the national interests by interfering in the internal affairs of the kingdom and influencing the work of the legislative institutions to serve the Qatari antagonistic goals," a statement on Bahrain News Agency read.

A judicial permission was issued to control and record telephone calls between the suspects which confirmed the investigations, the statement added.

The two suspects were arrested at Bahrain International Airport upon their return from Qatar with more than BD 12,000 and 500 Qatari Riyals in their possession without claiming them at the Customs Department.

Bahrain’s Public Prosecution has ordered to hold them in jug pending investigation after charging them with exchanging intelligence information with someone working for a foreign country to undermine the national interests. The suspects were also accused of illegally receiving money without claiming it at the Customs Department. The Public Prosecution also ordered confiscation of the money and investigation of the number of people implicated in the case.

Army Redeploys around Miyeh Miyeh Camp
[An Nahar] Lebanese Army units on Wednesday redeployed around the Miyeh Miyeh Paleostinian refugee camp in south Leb, the military said.

The move is aimed at "bringing the security situation under control," the army added in a statement.

An army force had deployed Tuesday at the camp's entrance before withdrawing abruptly for "logistic reasons," the National News Agency said.

The camp witnessed deadly festivities last week between the Fatah Movement and the Islamist Ansarullah faction.

CNN’s Jim Acosta ‘Asks’ Trump: ‘What You Really Mean Is That You’re a White Nationalist’
[BREITBART] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
defined nationalism for CNN news hound Jim Acosta in the White House Tuesday, saying that he’s "so proud of our country."

"Mr. President, just to follow up on your comments about being a nationalist‐there is a concern that you are sending coded language or a dog whistle to some Americans out there that what you really mean is that you’re a white nationalist?" Jim Acosta asked in the Oval Office.

"I’ve never even heard that, I can’t imagine that," Trump said. "I’ve never heard that theory about being a nationalist."

Trump also said, "I am very proud of our country. We cannot continue to allow what’s happened to our country to continue happening. We can’t let it happen. So I’m proud. I’m proud of our country, and I am a nationalist. It’s a word that hasn’t been used too much. Some people use it, but I’m very proud. I think it should be brought back."

"All I want our country is to be treated well, to be treated with respect. For many years, other countries that are allies of ours‐so-called allies‐they have not treated our country fairly. So in that sense, I am absolutely a nationalist, and I’m proud of it," the president also told Acosta.

This question comes after Trump enthusiastically called himself a "nationalist" at a rally in Texas Monday.

"A globalist is a person that wants the globe to do well, frankly, not caring about our country so much," the president said.

"You know what I am? I’m a nationalist. Okay? A nationalist. Use that word."

Acosta, as usual, took to his Twitter to recap what just happened for his followers.

"I also asked Trump about the ’nationalist’ label he has given himself. He brushed off the notion that this means he is a ’white nationalist,'" he said in part.

4 Iran environmentalists could face death penalty
[PULSE.NG] Four detained Iranian environmental activists could face the death penalty
after the charges levelled against them were changed, the Tehran prosecutor said on Wednesday.

"After completion of the investigation, the charges against four of the defendants have been changed to corruption on earth," said Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, cited by Mizan Online, a news outlet run by the judiciary.

"Corruption on earth" is one of the most serious charges in Iran and can be punishable by death.

The defendants were initially locked away
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
on suspicion of espionage, but Mizan Online did not specify the charges that had preceded Wednesday's alteration.

Indictments for eight environmental activists have been issued in total and "are ready to be sent to court," the agency quoted the prosecutor as saying.

"The defendants had been notified of the charges," he added.

The prosecutor did not specify the charges against the other four activists, nor did he say when the trial would be held.

The authorities have not released the names of the defendants, who were arrested in January.

Iran has arrested at least a dozen environmental activists this year on charges of spying for foreign intelligence agencies.

One of them, Kavous Seyed Emami, a 63-year-old professor and renowned environmentalist, allegedly did away with himself in prison in February, a fortnight after his arrest.

Military authorities told the judiciary that the defendants had tried to "get close to military centres and get military information about these centres, under the cover of environmental activities," the prosecutor said.

Caribbean-Latin America
Bitter Taste for Cuba as It Imports Sugar for The First Time
[An Nahar] Sugar: it's so quintessentially Cuban that even a young, machete-wielding Fidel Castro used to hack away at the cane stalks vital to the Caribbean island's economy.

Now, the long-time world leader in sugar production is importing the stuff for the first time, and in large amounts, from La Belle France after another bad harvest.

Sugar used to account for the vast majority of Cuba's exports. But the fall of its big brother, the Soviet Union -- a key, hungry customer -- changed everything, as did a lack of investment in seeds, fertilizer and pesticides.

To wit: in the early 1990s, Cuba produced about eight million tons of sugar a year. A decade later, it stopped reaching two million a year.

Back then, sugar accounted for almost 75 percent of Cuban exports. In 2015, it was only 13 percent, with other products like nickel and tobacco making up some of the difference.

The 2017-2018 harvest suffered badly after Hurricane Irma ravaged the country, followed by a long rainy season.

So Cuba is importing sugar from La Belle France.

- WHITER SUGAR -
On the island, residents quickly caught wind of the somewhat counter-intuitive development.

Here, sugar from cane tends to be brownish. But the French version comes from beets so it is whiter, and the granules are finer. And that is what Cubans started receiving with their "libreta" -- their ration book.

"The sugar we get now is very good. It is very sweet, not very different. The only difference is the color," said Felicia Navarro, a 40-year-old homemaker.

The French government farm and seafood export agency La Belle FranceAgriMer said that from 2001 to 2017, Cuba had imported just three tons of sugar from La Belle France.

#2  Interesting. For some reason, all sweeteners are not equal. Beet sugar and high fructose corn syrup are metabolized differently than sugar cane. I predict an uptick in illegal kidney trafficking and diabetes. Substituting artificial sweeteners will then ensure neuropathy and gangrene. The only Cubans left will be in Miami, offering prime real estate in the Caribbean. Gitmo expansion?

US arrested 16,658 migrant family members at border in September
[Al Jazeera] US border agents tossed in the clink
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
nearly 17,000 members of family units attempting to cross the US border with Mexico in September, a 31 percent increase over the previous month, according to official statistics released on Tuesday.

In a news briefing with news hounds on Tuesday, Trump administration officials pointed to the increase in migrant families as evidence of a "border crisis" because those groups are more difficult for immigration enforcement officials to detain and deport because of protections granted by US law to migrant children. Rights groups, however, dispute Trump's claim, saying that while there was an increase in apprehensions in 2018, overall, irregular immigration has been at a historic low over the last few years.

The Trump administration expressed alarm at the change in the makeup of migrants colonists attempting to cross into the United States from mostly single adults to children and families travelling together.

About 40 percent of those apprehended in the fiscal years 2017 and 2018 were unaccompanied children or families with children, compared with 10 percent in 2012, according to the Migration Policy Institute, a non-partisan think-tank.

#1  Just because there are adults with children don't make them family.
Posted by: AlmostAnonymous5839 || 10/25/2018 12:24 Comments || Top||

#2  If apprehended, are they collecting DNA samples for the database, adding tracking devices (just supply with Obummer phones), and enforcing E-Verify for employment? It is very difficult to make it without ID in the US if they do enter but remove the entire family. Biometric ID's make false documents very difficult to make. Tax remittances to pay for technology. And the US has the sovereign right to defend ourselves from an invasion. Plasma gun technology, Ultra-Short Pulse Laser, for crowd control exists, non-lethal in small doses but very lethal if they fail to heed warnings. All options should be on the table.

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain add Iran’s IRGC to terror list

and Bahrain added Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to their terrorism lists on Tuesday for financial and material support to what they describe as Iran’s terrorist activities, the SPA news agency reported.

Among the names added to the list is also Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani
, the commander of the Quds Force, an IRGC special forces unit.

The designation entails the freeze of all IRGC’s assets and properties and ban on any transactions with the organization and its representatives, the media outlet clarified.

The decision was made by the two nations as part of their collective action as members of the Treasury and the Terrorist Financing Targeting Center, co-founded by Riyadh and Washington back in 2017.

Earlier on Tuesday, The US nd its Gulf Arab allies have imposed sanctions on eight individuals linked to the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
in Afghanistan, including two officers of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In particular, the sanctions target Mohammad Ebrahim Owhadi (also known as Jalal Vahedi) and Esmail Razavi, the US Treasury Department said in a blurb, adding that the two men are members of the IRGC’s elite Quds Force.

In July, Qassem Soleimani responded to threats that US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
aimed at Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani, warning that if the United States were to start a war against Iran, the latter would be the first to end it.
