Trump supports birth control without prescription

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said today that he's not in favor of requiring a prescription to purchase birth control. In a taped interview on "The Dr. Oz Show," Trump said, "I would say it should not be a prescription; it should not be done by prescription."

Russian scientists are ‘besieged' by polar bears at a remote Arctic post
h/t Instapundit
A team of Russian weather experts claim that their station on an ice-covered Arctic isle is "besieged" by polar bears, according to a report by Russian news agency TASS.

The five researchers charged with staffing the outpost on Troynoy Island say that there are about 10 adult polar bears as well as cubs circling their base. A female polar bear spends nights perched outside the station's windows, making it dangerous for the scientists to exit. They have reportedly run out of flares and have lost at least one of their two dogs to the arctic beasts.
Relax. The bears are just protesting AGW.

#5  I was involved in the transfer of Point Barrow to the locals back in the day.

Point Barrow had a special siren for Polar Bear warnings. The instructions were to close the blinds, shut the windows, turn off the lights and move to the interior corridors and DO NOT MAKE A SOUND.

Seems a full grown Polar Bear snatched a weatherman at Barrow by coming right through the wall of the building he was in.

A human is not at the top of the food chain in those regions. The Polar Bear is the Great White Shark of the Artic...and probably more dangerous.

A Coast Guardsman at Barrow told me they were out on patrol about 100 miles off shore and came across a Polar Bear swimming along...hunting seals. Seems Polar Bears are bouyant and can swim for hundreds of miles without difficulty.

So much for a fragile endangered species, a Polar Bear is not a kangaroo rat or a moth.

China-Japan-Koreas
The Two Clinton Nuclear Bombs
The two nuclear bombs dropped on Japan were known as "Little Boy" and "Fat Man." The world today has two new nuclear bombs.
One is named "Fat Bill." The other is named "Little Hillary."

The "Bill Clinton" bomb is the one getting the most headlines as North Korea continues testing its nuclear weapons. The Communist dictatorship is on its fifth test already and achieved an explosion almost at the level of "Little Boy" which was dropped on Hiroshima.

North Korea has let it be known that this test has allowed it to produce standardized nuclear warheads "able to be mounted on strategic ballistic rockets" so that it can "produce at will and as many as it wants a variety of smaller, lighter and diversified nuclear warheads of higher strike power."

Kim doesn’t just want a nuke. He wants a lot of nukes. And at the rate he’s going, he will have them.

And the man to thank for all that is Bill Clinton.

In the fall of ’94, Clinton told the American people that his deal with North Korea would help bring "an end to the threat of nuclear proliferation on the Korean Peninsula.

...Bill Clinton sold America the same bill of goods on North Korea that Obama did on Iran. North Korea would have its isolation eased and "our relationship" with it would develop.

He was right about that. Our relationship developed to the point of North Korea threatening us with the nuclear weapons that he promised us it wouldn't have. Bill’s relationship with North Korea developed to the point of a paid speaking gig that was turned down by the ethics office at the State Department.

That’s the first Clinton Bomb. It’s named "Fat Bill." North Korea has also supplied nuclear technology to Iran. And that’s the other Clinton Bomb.

It’s called "Little Hillary."

Hillary Clinton has been very eager to claim credit for the Iran Deal. Indeed her boss’ worthless deal with the nuclear terror state closely echoes her husband’s worthless deal with another nuclear terror state.

Even the rhetoric was the same. In Bill’s speech, he claimed that the deal with North Korea "does not rely on trust." In Obama’s speech, he insisted that, "this deal is not built on trust."

Except that it did and it does.

Iran got to collect its own samples and turn them over to the IAEA. That’s the definition of trust.

...For the Iran Deal to be credible, we have to trust that Iran doesn’t want a nuclear bomb.

Hillary initiated the pivot to let Iran continue enriching uranium. As her campaign adviser said, "She recognized the difficulty of reaching a solution with zero enrichment."

As with the rest of her politics, Hillary Clinton has held an infinite number of positions on Iran’s nuclear enrichment. But behind closed doors, this was her true position.

North Korea’s "Fat Bill" bomb and Iran’s "Little Hillary" bomb are interconnected. The two terror states, one red and the other green, one left-wing and the other Islamic, help each other.

Much as Bill helped North Korea and Hillary helped Iran.

The world faces the prospect of two terror states armed with nuclear weapons as the legacy for two politicians named Clinton who sold out their country and ushered in a new age of nuclear terror.

If a North Korean bomb is used in war, it will be Bill’s bomb. And if Iran uses nuclear weapons, it will be Hillary’s hellish explosion.

Stopping the two Clinton bombs may be the biggest national security challenge for a future president.

Klingon Director Expects More Political Leaks Ahead of Election
[Free Beacon] CIA Director John Brennan said Wednesday it was likely that hackers would continue to target political computer systems in the weeks leading up to the November presidential election.

Brennan discussed the cyber attacks on the Democratic National Committee and state election systems during an interview with CBS News, saying that he "wouldn’t be surprised" if more breached information was leaked.

"I think there are capabilities that a number of our adversaries have‐and again, I’m not just talking about nation states or other countries‐I’m talking about individuals who may want to demonstrate that they’re able to hack into systems and release things for whatever their agenda might be, whether it be a political agenda or one that is just trying to undermine our system of democracy here," Brennan said.

Intelligence officials suspect that Russian government hackers were behind a series of cyber attacks targeting Democratic organization and staff. While Brennan refused to specially blame the Kremlin for the breaches, he pointed to Russia’s known history of breaking into U.S. political websites.

President Obama warned in July that it was possible Russian hackers would attempt to sway the U.S. election. Hillary Clinton’s campaign has maintained that the Kremlin was behind the DNC attacks in an attempt to help Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Russia has denied involvement in the attacks.

Serbia detains 2 smuggling suspects, 71 migrants

[Ynet] Serbian authorities say that joint police and army patrols have caught 71 migrants and arrested two people smugglers who transported them in vans and cars. A police statement said Thursday that a vehicle carrying 50 migrants was stopped near the border with Bulgaria, while 21 were caught farther west. The two drivers were detained.

Serbian officials said Thursday that migrant pressure on the Balkan country's borders has increased in the past two weeks, with more than 7,500 migrants attempting to cross from Bulgaria and Macedonia since mid-July.

Hungary seeks to aid persecuted Christians around the world

[Ynet] Hungary says it is setting up a special department to coordinate the assistance and rescue of persecuted Christians around the world. Janos Lazar, Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff, said Thursday that the 10-person office will seek to organize international aid for persecuted Christians when the work of private and nonprofit groups proves insufficient.

Lazar says the new department within the Ministry of Human Resources was inspired by a recent trip the prime minister took to Rome, where he met with representatives of Eastern Christian churches. Lazar says the meetings made clear "there would be a great need for European government organizations to take this issue more seriously." Orban has said that taking in large numbers of Muslim refugees will destroy Europe's Christian identity.

Refugees seek damages from Macedonia over police expulsions

[Ynet] Eight asylum seekers are taking legal action against Macedonia for expelling them back to Greece after a chaotic mass border crossing earlier this year. The migrant advocacy group ProAsyl said it helped the group file a complaint Monday with the Council of Europe's Court of Human Rights. Karl Kopp of the Frankfurt, Germany-based group said Thursday that the asylum seekers were from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. He did not disclose their names.

Kosovo Islamic party leader charged with incitement

[Ynet] Prosecutors in Kosovo have brought charges against the leader of the country's only Islamic political party, accusing him of inciting viewers to resist state authority during a television broadcast two years ago. Charges were also filed against four imams in the predominantly secular Muslim state, where authorities are concerned about militant Islamist recruitment after more than 300 people left in recent years to fight in Syria and Iraq.

In a 2014 television broadcast, Fuad Ramiqi, leader of the then recently-founded LISBA party, criticised authorities over the arrest of several imams on incitement charges and said: "We will not remain idle in the face of terror."

Scuffles on Greek Island over Overcrowded Migrant Camp

[AnNahar] Scuffles broke out on the Greek island of Chios, police said Thursday, during a protest by locals demanding the departure of some 3,500 refugees and migrants held there. Riot police were deployed late on Wednesday to keep a crowd of 800 people from approaching two migrant camps, a police source told Agence France Presse.

There are now over 60,000 refugees and migrants in Greece, most of them seeking to travel to Germany and other affluent EU countries. But they are unable to do so after a succession of eastern European and Balkan states shut their borders earlier this year.

Brawls are common in the eastern Aegean island camps facing Turkey, with many desperate to avoid being returned to Turkey or their home countries after spending a small fortune and risking their lives trying to escape poverty and persecution. Another row between African and Afghan migrants broke out late on Wednesday in a camp on the island of Lesbos, ANA said.

235,000 Migrants Ready to Head from Libya to Italy

[AnNahar] Some 235,000 migrants in Libya are ready to make the dangerous Mediterranean crossing to Italy as soon as the opportunity arises, UN envoy Martin Kobler said in an interview published Thursday.

According to Italy's interior ministry, nearly 128,400 migrants have arrived via the Mediterranean since the start of the year -- which is a five percent jump over the same period in 2015.

Belgium Seeks Shopkeeper Help in Foiling Attacks

[AnNahar] Belgian authorities are preparing guidelines for shopkeepers on how to report suspicious customers to the police in order to foil potential terror attacks, an economy ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

The ministry is drawing up a manual telling owners of businesses such as pharmacies, paint shops and hardware stores what to do if a customer acts suspiciously, such as buying a large quantity of products that could be used to make homemade explosives.

"Shopkeepers are asked to report thefts, disappearances of products or purchases in abnormal quantities," economy ministry spokesman Etienne Mignolet told AFP.

"If there is a suspicious transaction, shopkeepers are urged to inform the police," he added. "Our main objective is to stop the criminal use of home-made explosives."

Explosives made from shop-bought chemical products were used by jihadists in the November 2015 Paris attacks and the March 22 attacks in Brussels. In May, a court found that a Belgian terror cell raided by police in January 2015 had large quantities of chemical products used to make TATP, the homemade explosive used by Islamic State terrorists in the Paris and Brussels attacks.

Certain products such as acetone, fertilizer and sulfuric acid are treated as suspicious if bought in large quantities. Shopkeepers are also expected to inform police if a customer is unable to explain how he or she will use the chemicals, pays using an unusual method of payment or is unwilling to provide proof of identity or address.

Shopkeepers could incur fines of up to 600,000 euros ($673,932), or a prison sentence of between one and five years if they fail to inform the police about a suspicious transaction.

Egypt’s navy foils irregular immigration attempt of 440 people

[AlAhram] Egypt’s navy managed to foil two irregular immigration attempts of 440 people through the Mediterranean Sea during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, the Egyptian armed forces announced.

The navy stopped a fishing boat carrying 198 people from different nationalities in addition to its seven-member crew in the northern city of Burullus in Kafr Al-Sheikh governorate. The navy also stopped a fishing boat carrying 242 people from different nationalities and its five-members crew in the northern city Ras El-Hakima, Marsa Matrouh governorate. Both fishing boats were led to Abu-Kir naval base in Alexandria where the 440 people received medical care and were referred to prosecution.

In recent years, thousands of refugees and migrants have attempted to cross the Mediterranean in search of better jobs and opportunities. Hundreds have been arrested in Egypt for attempting to migrate irregularly.

Europe
Merkel: Get refugees into workforce faster
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...current chancellor of Germany. She was educated in East Germany when is was still run by commies, but in 1989 got involved with the growing democracy movement when the Berlin Wall fell. Merkel is sometimes referred to by Germans as Mom...
said on Thursday that Germany needed "viable solutions" to integrate refugees into the workforce faster after she met with blue-chip companies, which have hired fewer than 100 refugees since around a million arrived in the country last year.
"Sprechen sie Deutsch?"
"Allahu akbar!"

German employers have very high standards for their incoming employees, only in part because it is so hard to fire one. As I recall, eighteen months of formal training is required to earn a certificate to be a grocery store cashier.
Merkel, fighting for her political life over her open-door policy, summoned the bosses of some of Germany’s biggest companies to Berlin on Wednesday to account for their lack of action and exchange ideas about how they can do better.

Many of the companies contend that a lack of German-language skills, the inability of most refugees to prove any qualifications and uncertainty about their permission to stay in the country mean there is little they can do in the short term. Merkel told rbb-inforadio that if needed, special provisions could be developed to speed up the integration of refugees into the workforce, but she acknowledged this would still take time.

"Many are in integration courses or waiting to get on them. So I think we will need to show some patience, but must be ready at any time to develop viable solutions," she said.

A survey by Rooters of the 30 companies in Germany’s DAX stock index found they could point to just 63 refugee hires in total. Several of the 26 firms who responded said they considered it discriminatory to ask about applicants’ migration history, so they did not know whether they employed refugees or how many.

Far-right group, asylum-seekers fight in German town
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Dozens of coppers intervened as groups of far-right Germans and asylum-seekers clashed in an eastern German town that has previously seen racist incidents, officials said Thursday.

Around 80 Germans and 20 migrants colonists attacked each other Wednesday night in Bautzen, a town between Dresden and the Polish border, local police front man Thomas Knaup said.

Officers trying to separate the groups as they brawled in a town square were assailed with bottles thrown by some of the asylum-seekers.

The far-right protesters shouted nationalist slogans and followed the asylum-seekers back to their shelter while police tried to keep the groups apart, according to police.

Later, some members of the far-right group threw stones at an ambulance, preventing it from reaching the shelter to attend to an injured migrant.

Bautzen Mayor Alexander Ahrens condemned the violence and vowed to deploy more police and social workers to prevent future incidents.

"I’m shocked and very worried about the escalation," Ahrens wrote on Facebook. "I sharply condemn the growing violence in confrontations between the various groups."

Ahrens said there had been problems between far-right German youths and young asylum-seekers during the last two weeks in the Kornmarkt square. Town officials already had discussed imposing an alcohol ban there, German news agency DPA reported.

In February, onlookers celebrated as a fire damaged a former hotel that was being turned into a refugee home in Bautzen, a case of suspected arson. And when German President Joachim Gauck visited Bautzen in March to talk about democracy, he was insulted by some locals.

Hundreds of thousands asylum-seekers arrived in Germany last year, leading to tensions in some regions. The state of Saxony, where Bautzen is located, has seen several anti-migrant incidents, although it has one of the lowest percentages of foreigners in the country.
The Daily Mail says there were 100 locals, and the colonists taunted them until they reacted.

HDP leader explains why she refuses to answer summons on terrorism charges
[RUDAW.NET] Co-chair of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), Figen Yuksekdag, said that she will refuse to answer any summons to court to face charges of supporting terrorism because there is no fair or impartial judicial mechanism in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
"The government had already amassed their cohorts in judiciary posts and a purge of the high judiciary was concluded well before the July 15 coup attempt. After that, thousands of judges and prosecutors have been discharged and placed in durance vile
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
," Yuksekdag wrote in an editorial for Newsweek on Thursday.

"Public confidence in the judiciary is at an all-time low. In this situation, there is no judicial mechanism that we can go to seek justice," she wrote, noting that "every member of the high judiciary has pledged their loyalty to Erdogan," president of Turkey.

"Therefore, we are doing what is legitimate and right: we refuse to go to the prosecutors and the courts."

Yuksekdag and 58 other HDP MPs, including her co-chair Selahattin Demirtas, face charges on supporting terrorism tied to accusations from Ankara that they support the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD).

The charges against Yuksekdag stem from a speech she made in 2015 in which she expressed support for the US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and the PYD and their fight against the terrorist group Islamic State

(ISIS).

She concluded her speech by saying, "Let’s join together with Syrian Kurds in a historical alliance and make Turkey a safe, secure, strong and the democratic center of gravity in the region."

The Turkish parliament voted in May to lift immunity from a select group of politicians, including many HDP MPs, accused of terrorism-related offenses.

Afghanistan
Taliban leader not designated a terrorist remains a mystery: Indian envoy
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The deputy permanent representative of India to the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
Ambassador Tanmaya Lal has questioned the lack of steps to designate the Taliban supreme leader a terrorist individual.

In his speech during the UN Security Council Debate on situation in Afghanistan and its implications for international peace and security, Lal said "The fact that the leader of Taliban, a proscribed entity, is not yet designated as a terrorist individual remains a mystery to us."

The Indian envoy insisted for a clarification for the approach, saying "Can we know the rationale for such an approach? Is it now the thinking that leaders of proscribed entities will not be held accountable for the deeds of the listed groups that they head? Is this how we now intend to address of the most serious threats to international peace and security?"

Lal further added that Afghanistan has India’s full support for strengthening its defense capabilities and in preserving its illusory sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.

"India remains strongly committed to Afghanistan. The Prime Minister of India has conveyed to the President of Afghanistan H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
during his ongoing visit to India, our offer of an allocation of a further sum of USD 1 billion for requirements of Afghanistan for capacity building in spheres of such as education, health, agriculture, skill development, empowerment of women, energy, infrastructure and strengthening of democratic institutions," he added.

He also pointed towards the Afghan grinding of the peace processor and said "We believe that the path to reconciliation in Afghanistan should be through Afghan-led and Afghan-owned process in adherence to the internationally accepted lines reflecting the aspirations of the people of Afghanistan."

Big Government Cracks Down On ... People Sharing Books
[PJ] Near my father's home, something that looks like a large birdhouse has appeared on someone's property. It's one of those "little free libraries" that you might have seen -- they've popped up all over the place.

The idea is simple: If you want a book, you take a book and leave another in its place. It's a nice, sweet idea that has worked out remarkably well, considering how many folks out there are Grade A jerks.

Speaking of jerks, however, the government is cracking down on such book sharing. Because of course it is:

Last summer in Kansas, a nine-year-old was loving his Little Free Library until at least two residents proved that some people will complain about anything no matter how harmless and city officials pushed the boundaries of literal-mindedness:

The Leawood City Council said it had received a couple of complaints about Spencer Collins' Little Free Library. They dubbed it an "illegal detached structure" and told the Collins' they would face a fine if they did not remove the Little Free Library from their yard by June 19.
Scattered stories like these have appeared in various local news outlets. The L.A. Times followed up last week with a trend story that got things just about right.

"Crime, homelessness and crumbling infrastructure are still a problem in almost every part of America, but two cities have recently cracked down on one of the country's biggest problems: small-community libraries where residents can share books," Michael Schaub wrote.

"Officials in Los Angeles and Shreveport, Louisiana, have told the owners of homemade lending libraries that they're in violation of city codes, and asked them to remove or relocate their small book collections."

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why we can't have nice things.

Keep in mind that these structures are on private property, and are typically not large enough to do much of anything except hold a handful of books. Wronging another human in any way with these structures may be literally impossible.

Syria deal in balance as Aleppo aid plan stalls
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Russia said the Syrian army had begun to withdraw from a road into Aleppo on Thursday, a prerequisite for pressing ahead with international peacemaking efforts as the government and rebels accused each other of violating a truce.

An organization that monitors the war also said the Syrian army had begun moving away, but Death Eater groups in Aleppo said they had not seen the army withdrawing from the Castello Road, needed to allow aid deliveries into the city, and would not pull back from their own positions near the road until they did.

The Pentagon said it could not confirm reports of a withdrawal but US State Department front man Mark Toner said the ceasefire was holding "by and large", adding both Washington and Moscow believed it was worth continuing.

But there were growing accusations of violations by each side, with a Syrian military source saying the rebels were responsible for dozens of breaches including gun, rocket and mortar fire in Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, Homs and Latakia. The rebels said Syrian army jets had struck in Hama and Idlib, and used artillery near Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based war monitor, said it had documented attacks by both sides, and that despite widespread calm between rebels and the army, the first civilians had been killed since the truce began on Monday.

Two civilians killed on Thursday were children in government-held areas, one in Aleppo and the other in Syria’s southwest, it said. In addition, air strikes against ISIS bandidos bully boyz in the town of al-Mayadin near Deir al-Zor had killed at least 23 civilians, it said.

Control of the Castello Road is divided between the government and rebels who have been battling to topple Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
for more than five years. It has been a major frontline in the war.

"The Syrian army... began the staged withdrawal of vehicles and personnel from the Castello Road to ensure the unimpeded delivery of aid to eastern Aleppo," said Lieutenant-General Vladimir Savchenko, head of the Russian Reconciliation Centre in Syria in remarks broadcast on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
The Observatory said the army had started to withdraw from positions on the road, but that Russian troops, whose air force has helped Damascus blockade rebel-held Aleppo, had replaced it.

An official in an Aleppo-based Syrian rebel group said late on Thursday the army had not pulled back. "There is no withdrawal by the regime from the Castello Road," Zakaria Malahifji, of the Aleppo-based rebel group Fastaqim, told Rooters.

Indonesia Captures Key Militant in IS-Linked Group
[AnNahar] Indonesian security forces Wednesday captured a senior member of an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. -linked krazed killer network once headed by the country's most wanted holy warrior, police said.

Muhammad Basri, from the Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen,
...with this capture down to thirteen members, unless they've had another shipment of Uighers from China...
was caught in a joint operation between the police and military in Poso district, on rugged Sulawesi island, while another member of the group was rubbed out.
...not thirteen, then, but twelve. How nice!
"He was caught on Poso's south coast this morning," police front man Boy Rafli Amar told Agence La Belle France Presse, adding he had been taken to a nearby city.

It came two months after the group's leader and Indonesia's most wanted holy warrior, Santoso, was rubbed out by troops, ending a years-long hunt for the Islamic State (IS) group supporter.

His death was a major victory for authorities in the world's most populous Moslem-majority country. Santoso and his group were responsible for deadly attacks on domestic security forces and had trained faceless myrmidons from around the archipelago.

Basri had been the deputy leader of the Eastern Indonesia Mujahideen, which has been hiding out in the jungles of Sulawesi for years but now has just a handful of members.

He was seen as a successor to Santoso, although it is not clear if he had officially taken over leadership of the group.

After Indonesia suffered a string of Islamic holy warrior attacks in the early 2000s, including the 2002 Bali bombings that killed more than 200 people, authorities launched a crackdown that weakened the most dangerous networks.

But Santoso repeatedly evaded attempts to capture or kill him, with the long-haired, gun-toting krazed killer regularly appearing in videos urging gunnies to launch attacks.

The picture changed recently, with other IS-linked cells on the main island of Java considered a greater threat.

Jewish ex-con arrested for arson at Florida mosque
[IsraelTimes] Man attended a Port St. Lucie synagogue for about a month last year but was not known in the community

A 32-year-old Florida man has been jugged
You have the right to remain silent...
and is facing a charge of arson and hate crime in a fire that heavily damaged a mosque that Orlando nightclub gunman Omar Mateen
... the Afghan-"American" who decided he was a soldier of the Caliphate and shot fifty unarmed people to death in a Florida gay bar he used to frequent...
attended, authorities announced Wednesday.

Joseph Michael Schreiber was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon and was being interrogated by Sherlocks looking into the fire set late Sunday at the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce, said Maj. David Thompson of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Thompson told a news conference that Schreiber was taken into custody on a street in Fort Pierce by authorities acting on tips from members of the community and aided by surveillance video taken from the mosque and elsewhere. He said the arson charge, coupled with a hate crime enhancement under Florida law, carries a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.

Thompson said detectives were still questioning Schreiber on Wednesday evening, and he didn’t say if Schreiber had a lawyer.

The fire was set late Sunday on the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. The blaze also coincided with the Moslem holiday Eid al-Adha. No one was injured in the blaze, which burned a 10-by-10-foot hole in the roof at the back of the mosque’s main building and blackened its eaves with soot.

Thompson said a search warrant was executed at Schreiber’s home, where Sherlocks reported finding evidence linked to the arson, as well as anti-Islamic social media posts.

A July post placed on Facebook by Schreiber, who is Jewish, stated that, "IF AMERICA truly wants peace and safety and pursuit of happiness they should consider all forms of ISLAM as radical. ... ALL ISLAM IS RADICAL, and should be considered TERRORIST AND CRIMANALS (sic) and all hoo (sic) participate in such activity should be found guilty of WAR CRIM (sic) until law and order is restored in this beautiful free country."

Wilfredo Amr Ruiz, a front man for the Council on American-Islamic Relations
... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ...
Florida, said Schreiber "obviously doesn’t know about the efforts our community is engaged in with our cousins, the Jews, not only in Florida but throughout the nation."

Omar Saleh, an attorney for CAIR
...designated a terrorist group by the UAE...
, described both Schreiber and Mateen as "degenerates" and "punks."

"Just like on June 12, when I was stressing that Mateen’s actions do not speak on behalf of Islam, I know that whatever religion Mr. Schreiber is, his actions do not speak on behalf of his religion," Saleh said.

Mateen was killed by police after opening fire at the Pulse nightclub on June 12 in a rampage that left 49 victims dead and 53 maimed. He professed allegiance to the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group. His father is among roughly 100 people who attend the mosque.

Schreiber was previously sentenced twice to state prison for theft, according to records from the Florida Department of Corrections. The records show he served his first sentence from March 2008 to July 2009 and his second from June 2010 to August 2014.

A weekend surveillance video from the mosque showed a man on a cycle of violence approaching the building with a bottle of liquid and some papers, then leaving when there was a flash and shaking his hand as though he may have burned it, Thompson said. The first 911 calls were made about 45 minutes later after the fire had spread to the attic. It took about four-and-a-half hours for firefighters to extinguish the blaze.

Rabbi Bruce Benson, a chaplain with the Port St. Lucie Police Department, was outside Schreiber’s home Wednesday night. He said Schreiber attended his Temple Beth El Israel synagogue for about a month last spring to study the Torah, but left little impression, and no indication that he might act violently in the future.

Benson said Schreiber’s father showed up at his office Wednesday afternoon after his son was arrested, even though he wasn’t a member of his synagogue.

"I guess he didn’t know where else to go," Benson said, adding that Schreiber’s parents are "shocked, just like any of us would be if it were our child."

Benson said his Reform synagogue, Temple Beth El Israel, has tried unsuccessfully in the past to reach out to the mosque.

"We would welcome the opportunity," Benson said. "They’re a community feeling under attack. If we could all talk a bit, maybe things like this wouldn’t have to happen."
So much for the efforts of the Muslim community as exemplified by the Mateen family's mosque to engage with their cousins, the Jews...
The fire was part of an escalating series of threats and violence perpetuated against the mosque and its members, Ruiz said. He said the mosque began receiving threatening phone calls shortly after the Pulse massacre. And in July, he said, a member was punched in the face as he arrived for morning prayers.

Sunday’s fire has left the mosque’s members "saddened and scared," said assistant imam Hamaad Rahman.

Suspected Florida mosque arsonist confesses to crime

[IsraelTimes] An ex-convict who posted anti-Islamic rants online confessed to setting fire to a mosque that the Orlando nightclub shooter occasionally attended, and said he was embarrassed by the crime, according to an arrest affidavit released Thursday.

St. Lucie County sheriff’s detectives writes in the affidavit that after Joseph Michael Schreiber was tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
Wednesday, he told detectives that he had set the fire at the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce on Sunday, the 15th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Schreiber, 32, told detectives he never intended to hurt anyone.

US covering up breaches of Syria ceasefire sez Rooshuns
That's one small part of the story: the bigger part is that Pencilneck is violating the ceasefire...
Russia accused the US of covering up opposition violations in Syria on Thursday as the three-day old ceasefire came under increasing strain.

The Russian defence ministry said that Syrian regime forces had pulled back from the Castello road, a key access route into Aleppo, but that opposition groups had not withdrawn.

The Russian foreign ministry also complained of opposition shelling. “Only the Syrian army has been observing the ceasefire regime, while the US-led ‘moderate opposition’ has been increasing the number of shellings of residential quarters,” the ministry statement said. “Moreover, it appears that the ‘verbal curtain’ of Washington is aimed at hiding the non-fulfilment of the US obligations.”

National reconciliation conference to take place in Nalut
[Libya Herald] Delegates from across the country have been heading to Nalut in the far western Jebel Nafusa, near the Tunisian border, for a conference on Friday on national reconciliation.

A number of delegates flew in today from Tobruk to Zintan while others drove over from Tunisia.

The conference is being organised under the auspices of the municipal council in Nalut, which has earned itself the reputation of being relatively impartial in Libya’s current divide. The gathering also has the support of Zintan municipality and the Libyan National Army’s head of its Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
operations room, Colonel Idris Madi. He was at Zintan airpott today to welcome arriving delegates from the east.

It is reported, though, that the Presidency Council’s defence minister Mahdi al-Barghathi ordered a stop to the conference on the grounds that security could not be assured, but the organisers ignored him.

Delegates are expected to attend from Misrata and Tripoli.

It was reported earlier today that there has been a row over the planned attendance by David Jerbi, the Rome-based psychologist and political activist who is Jewish and originally from Tripoli. Having issued an invitation to him to the conference, Nalut municipality is now allegedly saying he is not welcome, apparently on the basis that he is Jewish.

Little sign of normality in liberated Jarablus
[RUDAW.NET] The town of Jarablus on the Turkish border, recently liberated from Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS), still has the many signboards put up by the Islamic State. Perhaps the most obvious reminder of the terrorist group is their name written in Arabic calligraphy on the gate to the town.

The only difference appears to be the presence of two fighters from the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA).

In the downtown, a main public square bears in a placard that reads "deaders’ square" in black. The many ISIS writings on the walls in various neighbourhoods are untouched.

Official offices look empty and their doors are locked. Very few people are out. Military vehicles of the Syrian opposition forces are the prevalent presence on the streets.

"There is no electricity. There is no running water, no health care, or schools. There is little bread," a frustrated middle-aged man said. "We demand the creation of a local council so that they can take care of running the town's administration.

A blackboard displays the names of non-Syrian Arab ISIS fighters. Instructions and guidelines for life under ISIS are written on walls.

A shop owner who sells very limited food items to those who can afford them, said the children in the town are bothering his small business. The solution, he said, is education. One of the many basic needs the town urgently needs but lacks to this date.

"There is no schooling here for the children or the youth. There is no education for girls or boys. We call on those who can to open schools for the children. They are playing on the streets. They are coming here stealing my stuff. Let them receive education in the school," said the shopkeeper.

Cars are being stopped on the streets for security check ups. An old man driving his truck says with laughter that he does not know whether the Free Syrian Army in Jarablus is any better than the Islamic State or not.

Some writings on boxes show aid distribution under ISIS from the Syrian Red Islamic Thingy.

Parts of the town remind the residents of total destruction. Despite that, some are seen coming back to the town, hoping they can rebuild.

"Thanks be to God, the new life here is a rebirth. There are a lot of civilians in Jarablus now. People have started coming back to the town again," said a man who was interrupted by what appeared to be gunfire.

"It might be a landmine" he said, promising he is going to bring his family back to the town.

The Beatings Will Continue: Iraqi and Syrian Edtions

ISIS notices they're up to their asses in alligators

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Well placed sources in Nineveh revealed that ISIS has declared a state of emergency in Mosul and withdrew all its patrols from streets, after the outfit suffered great losses in several areas in Qayyarah, Sharqat and Bashiqa.

Sharing further details with Iraqi News, the sources informed, “The international coalition airstrikes on Tuesday and Wednesday, destroyed gatherings points and headquarters of ISIS in the forest areas in Mosul, and also destructed an ISIS headquarters in al-Imam al-Azam College.”

“ISIS have panicked after the waves of assassinations and have begun to cut off the main roads to the residential neighborhoods, after declaring a state of emergency in the city,” the sources added.

ISIS kills woman who threw stones at them

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Senior al-Hashed al-Shaabi leader Jabbar Maamouri informed on Thursday, that a woman in Sharqat was killed by ISIS for she hurled stones at a detachment of the outfit, avenging the death of her son who was killed by he outfit itself.

In a statement issued to the media, Mamouri said, “A woman in Sharqat was killed by the ISIS after she hurled stones at the members of the outfit as they had killed her only son right in front of her eyes. The lady, her son and few others were trying to escape from Sharqat when they came face-to-face with ISIS militants.”

It may be mentioned here that ISIS executes persons trying to flee Sharqat almost daily. Dozens of bodies lie in open along the paths and due to this, the paths have turned into a sort of open grave.

7 wimmin beaten in Raqqa

[ARA News] RAQQA – Militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) arrested seven women in Syria’s northeastern Raqqa province, activists reported on Thursday.

The women, who were arrested on suspicions of leaking security information about the group’s movements in Raqqa to the US-led coalition, were publicly flogged by ISIS extremists.

The ISIS-led Hisba Police raided a number of houses in the Rumela district of Raqqa and arrested more than 10 civilians.

“Among the arrestees were seven women, who were flogged in front of hundreds of people in central Raqqa on Thursday evening, after the Sharia Court accused them of cooperating with the US-led coalition and rival groups,” local media activist Aiman al-Issawi told ARA News.

A statement by the ISIS Sharia Court of Raqqa claimed that the arrested women have been involved in leaking security information about the Islamic State’s military movements to the “crusader coalition”–in reference to the US-led coalition that has been bombing ISIS positions across Syria and Iraq for over two years.

“At least four other civilians were detained by ISIS militants, but the group has not yet revealed what their charges were,” al-Issawi reported.

The extremist group has recently arrested and beheaded dozens of civilians under the pretext that they have cooperated with coalition forces against the ISIS self-declared Caliphate.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
In leaked emails, Colin Powell says Israel has 200 nukes
He spent his life in the military. He knows that loose lips sink ships, but blithely discussed secrets not his own with those who were not cleared to know them, using methods he knew were insecure... as is now demonstrated. This is very different than catty gossip about his dearest friends.
[IsraelTimes] While discussing Iran nuclear deal, former secretary of state apparently reveals extent of Jewish state’s alleged atomic arsenal

Former US secretary of state and four-star general Colin Powell alleged that Israel possesses some 200 nuclear weapons, in an email apparently leaked by Russian hackers this week.

Discussing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s March 2015 speech to Congress about the dangers posed by the Iranian nuclear deal, in an email he sent to US Democratic party donor Jeffrey Leeds, Powell wrote that he doubted the Iranian regime would use an atomic bomb even if it could get one, since "the boys in Tehran know Israel has 200, all targeted on Tehran, and we have thousands."

The email was published by the LobeLog foreign policy website.

Israel maintains a policy of so-called nuclear ambiguity, neither publicly confirming nor denying the existence of an atomic arsenal.

According to a 2014 report by the Federation of American Scientists, however, the Jewish state is believed to possess between 80 and 400 nuclear weapons, though that document’s authors estimated the figure was closer to 80.

Powell’s email, sent on March 3, 2015, more than doubled that approximation. As a former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, his figure of 200 nuclear weapons would appear to carry more weight than the approximations of the "news media reports, think tanks, authors, and analysts" cited in the FAS report.

A trove of Powell’s emails was posted on the website DCLeaks.com and first reported by Buzzfeed News late Tuesday. Powell, 79, did not deny the emails’ authenticity when asked for comment by Buzzfeed.

The emails, which run from March 2015 through last month, offer rare insight into the unvarnished opinions of the respected retired US Army general, who was secretary of state under President George W. Bush.

DCLeaks.com has been alleged to be an outlet for hackers tied to the Russian intelligence groups. The website, which says it intends to expose the misuse of political power, has previously released emails from other Washington political figures.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
his March 3, 2015, email dealt specifically with the Iranian nuclear deal and Netanyahu’s controversial speech to Congress that day about it. Powell told Leeds, his business partner, that he had watched "parts of it," and that is was "well done, but nothing new. I could have mouthed it."

He challenged some of the assertions made by Netanyahu in the speech. According to Powell, the Iranians "can’t use [a nuclear bomb] if they finally make one," because of Israel’s overwhelming arsenal.

"As Akmdinijad (sic) [said], ’What would we do with one, polish it?'" he wrote, referring to former Iranian president Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad.

Powell said that while all his "buddies" in Abu Dhabi wanted an Iranian nuclear deal and had been working for over a decade to reach one, he was unconvinced.

"I don’t trust Iranians -- almost went to jail over Iran-Contra," he wrote, referring to a political scandal in the United States in the late 1980s, in which American officials were caught facilitating weapons sales to Iran, despite an arms embargo.

Powell also cast doubt on the amount of time that Netanyahu and others estimated that it would take Iran to develop a nuclear bomb.

"Bibi likes to say ’a year away,’ as do our intel guys. They say it every years (sic)," Powell wrote.

Since they believe that if they are losing Allah will be forced to intervene to tip the scales in their favour, starting a nuclear war they are bound to lose is logical. Al Qaeda believed the same thing before 9/11; it was the massive damage that the Ummah recoved at the hands of George W. Bush's coalition that changed minds about that whole hard jihad of the sword thing until President Obama proactively left the battlefield.

Soldiers killed in mine blast in Benghazi
[Libya Herald] Six soldiers belonging to 115 infantry brigade from Marj are reported to have been killed today in a mine kaboom in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district.

Intermittent festivities have continued in both Gwarsha and Ganfuda, but mines ‐ and snipers ‐ have been the main reason for its slow progress in the area, the Libyan National Army says.

Vast quantities of mines across the east of the country, left unsecured following the revolution, subsequently fell into the hands of forces of Evil who have used them in Benghazi, Sirte and other conflict zones.

De-mining experts say they warned the Zeidan government about this nearly four years ago but that it did nothing.

Flotilla of 30 20 women left Barcelona for Gaza
[Ynet] Two boats holding 20 women departed from the Barcelona port for the Gazoo Strip.

According to the women, their goal is "to break the seige that Israel is enforcing on Gazoo."
Al Ahram adds:
They are due to stop in several ports on the way, including Ajaccio in La Belle France's Corsica, to take other activists on board and hope to arrive in Gazoo in early October.

World Bank: Donations to Gaza far behind pledges

[Ynet] The World Bank says less than half the money pledged by donors to rebuild the Gazoo Strip after the 2014 war between Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, and Israel has been disbursed.

The shortfall is among several reasons the Paleostinian economy is stagnating, with unemployment at 42 percent in Gazoo and at 18 percent in the West Bank.

The report released Thursday will be delivered to the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee, a forum of donors to the Paleostinian Authority, in New York next week.
The thrill is gone, as more immediate concerns force themselves into the headlines.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Hillary Clinton Campaign Systematically Overcharging Poorest Donors
[Observer] Wells Fargo fraud department inundated with calls from low-income Clinton supporters reporting repeated unauthorized charges.

Hillary Clinton’s campaign is stealing from her poorest supporters by purposefully and repeatedly overcharging them after they make what's supposed to be a one-time small donation through her official campaign website, multiple sources tell the Observer.

The overcharges are occurring so often that the fraud department at one of the nation's biggest banks receives up to 100 phone calls a day from Clinton's small donors asking for refunds for unauthorized charges to their bankcards made by Clinton's campaign. One elderly Clinton donor, who has been a victim of this fraud scheme, has filed a complaint with her state's attorney general and a representative from the office told her that they had forwarded her case to the Federal Election Commission.

"We get up to a hundred calls a day from Hillary's low-income supporters complaining about multiple unauthorized charges," a source, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of job security, from the Wells Fargo fraud department told the Observer. The source claims that the Clinton campaign has been pulling this stunt since Spring of this year. The Hillary for America campaign will overcharge small donors by repeatedly charging small amounts such as $20 to the bankcards of donors who made a one-time donation. However, the Clinton campaign strategically doesn't overcharge these donors $100 or more because the bank would then be obligated to investigate the fraud.

"We don't investigate fraudulent charges unless they are over $100," the fraud specialist explained. "The Clinton campaign knows this, that's why we don't see any charges over the $100 amount, they'll stop the charges just below $100. We'll see her campaign overcharge donors by $20, $40 or $60 but never more than $100." The source, who has worked for Wells Fargo for over 10 years, said that the total amount they refund customers on a daily basis who have been overcharged by Clinton's campaign "varies" but the bank usually issues refunds that total between $700 and $1200 per day.

The fraud specialist said that Clinton donors who call in will attempt to resolve the issue with the campaign first but they never get anywhere. "They will call the Clinton campaign to get their refund and the issue never gets resolved. So they call us and we just issue the refund. The Clinton campaign knows these charges are small potatoes and that we'll just refund the money back."

#1  The banks and credit card processor are involved in this. I used to work for a credit card processor and when a cardholder complains to the bank about a charge and do a chargeback, the merchant gets fined. Used to be $200 per chargeback. Get so many in a year and they canceled your account too, usually 5-7. So somewhere in these lines a deal has been struck for the banks to essentially donate to Hillary since if they were charging these back, the campaign wouldn't be allowed to continue accepting cards. So yes, it's fraud but more than just the campaign is involved here.

#4  They have often been referred to as grifters. Grifters are people who engage in petty swindles. There is nothing petty about the swindles/crime going on. Malfeasants might be a better tag to hang on them but that is often used to refer to crooked public officials. We need a new noun to describe what they do. What is surprising is how many people they are able to drag into their web of deceit.

Embassy stay risks Assange's mental health: WikiLeaks
Imagine how life in a SuperMax is going to affect his health...
WikiLeaks on Thursday released medical records claiming its founder Julian Assange's mental health was at risk if he remained in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, ahead of a court hearing in Sweden to decide whether to maintain an arrest warrant for him.

More than four years since Assange moved into the Ecuadorian embassy to escape extradition to Sweden -- where he faces a police investigation into rape claims -- WikiLeaks argued his confinement there needed to be brought to an end as a matter of urgency.

"Mr Assange's mental health is highly likely to deteriorate over time if he remains in his current situation.... It is urgent that his current circumstances are resolved as quickly as possible," said a report published by the organisation on Twitter.
Urgent for him but not for the rest of us...
The 27-page medical report is attributed to an unnamed "trauma and psychosocial expert" in London and dated December 11, 2015.

It comes ahead of a decision expected on Friday by a Swedish appeals court on whether to maintain an arrest warrant for Assange over the rape accusation. The judges will decide whether to grant Assange's request to hear legal arguments on the European arrest warrant issued by Swedish prosecutors in 2010.

The newly-released medical report, accompanied by supporting documents, is said to be based on interviews with Assange and includes comments from others at the embassy. According to the report, Assange often goes up to 22 hours without sleeping, although he has access to a treadmill for physical exercise.
So the poor baby is keeping the same hours I did as a medical resident. Wimp.

Top U.S. Special Operations general: ‘We're hurting ourselves' with all these movies and books
[WAPO] Army Gen. Raymond "Tony" Thomas, head of U.S. Special Operations Command, rarely talks specifics about the troops under his command. Direct action raids in Iraq, rescue missions in Afghanistan, Special Operations forces deployed in places like Syria, Somalia and Yemen are all -- if even acknowledged -- described in broad platitudes.

But when asked about the propensity of some of his elite forces to write books, star in movies and help advise on the production of certain video games, Thomas is outspoken -- and angry.

"It is a phenomenon that is anathema to me. It runs counter to everything that any of us who ever entered special operations know [is] the right way to do business," Thomas said during a conference hosted by the Institute for the Study of War in Washington on Wednesday. "It baffles me that people don’t hold true to that standard."

"We won’t tolerate it," he added.

Thomas's remarks come on the heels of a $6.6 million settlement in August between Navy SEAL Matt Bissonnette and the U.S. government. Bissonnette, who wrote a best-selling book titled "No Easy Day" about his role with SEAL Team Six during the 2011 raid that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, will have to forfeit all of his profits and royalties after violating a nondisclosure agreement and failing to get his book cleared by the Pentagon.

#4  You're correct Pappy, he wasn't SF, but he controlled the pre-SF and pre-CIA OSS in the ETO.

Flag officers in the Army are O7 and above and are issued their flag upon promotion. All general officers are issued the appropriate rank flag and a corresponding National Color. These flags become the general's personal property and are authorized for retention by the individual upon promotion to the next higher grade or retirement from active duty. The are controlled and issued by the Clothing and Heraldry PSID.

In the United States Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps, the term "flag officer" generally is applied to all general officers authorized to fly their own command flags—i.e., brigadier general, or pay grade O-7, and above. - wiki

Leaks confirm that UAE military operations have Haftar’s back in eastern Libya
[Libya Observer] Leaked air traffic control recordings obtained by Middle East Eye have unveiled the sinister role Emirati military has been playing in eastern Libya as the leaks show UAE’s fighter pilots are involved in carrying out Arclight airstrikes in support of rogue General, Kahlifa Haftar, and his Dignity Operation forces against rival gangs in eastern Libya.

In a report on Tuesday, MEE confirmed that the Emirati pilots are part of an international operations room made up from Britannia, La Belle France and the US as well and that all those countries are all in support of Haftar.

In a previous report, MEE disclosed information that proves the presence of UAE personnel in an international operations room at the Benina air base in Haftar-controlled Benghazi but the new tapes offer the first confirmation of the presence of the Gulf state’s pilots in the skies over Libya as well.

"In one audio file, a pilot with an Emirati accent is heard relaying coordinates to a Libyan officer in the operations room. He is then told to "check for movement" because they "don't want to waste any bombs". MEE reported.

These newly leaked tapes are revealed while Haftar’s militias have reportedly seized a third oil terminal in eastern, which was right away condemned by the US, La Belle France, the UK, Germany, Italia and Spain in a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire.

"Yet pilots and air traffic controllers speaking in Arabic and American-, British-, French- and Italian-accented English can be heard in the latest batch of tapes, confirming the international nature of the air operation in support of Haftar’s campaign to gain control of eastern Libya from groups he has declared to be "extremists"." MEE concluded.

He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. J&C party warns LNA after oil terminals takeover, calls for unanimity in PC
[Libya Herald] In the latest response to the Libyan National Army’s takeover of the eastern oil crescent terminals, the Moslem Brüderbund’s Justice and Construction party (J&C) has warned that it will trigger counter attacks. Without mentioning the LNA by name, a J&C statement this afternoon said that the use the force by certain sides in Libya in order to impose a new reality would be resisted.

In its statement, the party said that all strategic locations and institutions had to be under the authority of the Government of National Accord (GNA), and that included the Petroleum Facilities Guards (PFG).

Reaffirming its view that the Libyan Political Agreement remained the sole basis for any political progress in the country and rejecting any attempt to impose military rule in Libya, the J&C however called on Presidency Council (PC) members to bring some order to their proceedings.

The LNA takeover of the oil terminals has caused a deep split within the PC. There have been conflicting statements about it from various members and Serraj is said to under pressure from both sides. A source close to PC member Ali Gatrani told the Libya Herald that Serraj phoned Gatrani calling him to an urgent meeting to agree a joint response, suggesting that if they failed all PC members should resign.

It followed a statement issued jointly by Gatrani and Fathi Majbri, both from the east, hailing the takeover of the terminals. In contrast, Musa Koni, who was acting chairman of the PC until today, issued a condemnation of it. It was condemned too by fellow members Abdelsalam Kajman and Mohammed Ammari

Ahmed Maitig, during an interview with LANA two days ago has showed himself to be changing sides, however, holding out an olive branch to the east of the coutry and noting that "our brothers in the east have been attacked unfairly for a long time . . . but they have proved devotion and their love of Libya and its illusory sovereignty," he said.

Serraj and Ageela Saleh rivals to meet in Cairo on Saturday to discuss new cabinet
[Libya Herald] Faiez Serraj the head of Presidency Council (PC) has arrived in Cairo for a series of meeting the most important of which will be with the president of the House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, for discussions over the proposed list of members of the new Government of National Accord (GNA).

Serraj is also expected to discuss Libya with top Egyptian officials.

Egypt is seen as the key to persuading Khalifa Hafter to work with the Presidency Council rather than his present policy of constantly opposing it.

Hafter is said to also have been invited to meet Serraj in Cairo but so far has not responded.

Sources claim that UN Envoy Martin Kobler will also be in the Egyptian capital on Saturday to give his support to the Serraj-Saleh discussions.

Today, Thursday, Kobler was in Misrata and met numerous key payers from the city including the municipal council, its members of the House of Representatives (HoR) and the head of the State Council, Abdulrahman Sewehli, apparently to ensure their support for the Cairo meetings.

Pakistani Taliban Target Shia Mosque On Eid Day
[NEWSWEEKPAKISTAN] A jacket wallah injured four coppers, one critically, outside a Shia mosque in southern Pakistain in an attack claimed by the Pak Taliban as the country marked the beginning of the religious festival Eid al-Azha on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Shikarpur in Sindh province, the same district where at least 61 were killed in a suicide kaboom on another Shia mosque in 2015.

Officials said two suicide bombers tried to enter the Khanpur Imambargah
...since Pakistain is very religiously correct, Shia Moslems can't call their houses of worship 'mosques,' which are reserved for Sunnis. It's not clear if imambargahs are used for explosives storage like mosques are...
but were intercepted by police. "Four of our men are injured of whom one is critical," said Umar Tufail, a senior local police officer. He added doctors were also trying to save the life of the other suspected bomber, who was injured when the first one went kaboom! but failed to detonate himself.

"The attackers came as the worshippers were gathering to offer Eid prayers. Police were able to stop him at the gate outside the mosque," A. D. Khawaja, chief of police for Sindh province said.

Worshippers overpowered the second would-be suicide bomber as the police were reeling from their injuries, he added.

A faction of the Pak Taliban, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, grabbed credit for the attack in a statement sent to media. Spokesman for the group Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
said it was a part of an operation that would be spread to every area of the country.

Bipartisan House Intelligence Committee report says Snowden is no hero
[USATODAY] Just one day before a movie about Edward Snowden is set to hit theaters, the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday unanimously adopted an investigative report portraying the former National Security Agency contractor as a disgruntled employee who violated Americans' privacy rights rather than protecting them.

"Edward Snowden is no hero -- he’s a traitor who willfully betrayed his colleagues and his country," said Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif. "He put our service members and the American people at risk after perceived slights by his superiors. In light of his long list of exaggerations and outright fabrications detailed in this report, no one should take him at his word. I look forward to his eventual return to the United States, where he will face justice for his damaging crimes."

Snowden is famous for revealing the existence of an NSA program that collected the phone data of millions of Americans with no ties to terrorism. The 2013 revelations spurred Congress to pass the USA Freedom Act in 2015. That law ended the mass surveillance program, which had been carried out under Section 215 of the Patriot Act anti-terrorism law passed in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Although privacy advocates have hailed Snowden as a brave whistleblower who exposed an out-of-control surveillance state to the American people, his critics have long accused him of treason for revealing classified information and endangering national security. Snowden took more than 1.5 million classified documents from the NSA.

Ohio police urge public to halt Tamir Rice comparisons after cop's fatal shooting of black teen with BB gun
[NYDAILYNEWS] The 13-year-old boy shot and killed by an Ohio cop was carrying a BB gun that looked "practically identical" to a police weapon, authorities said Thursday.

Tyre King was fatally shot when police in Columbus responded Wednesday night to a call about an armed robbery.

Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs displayed a photo at a presser Thursday of what she said was a "replica" of the BB gun held by Tyre, which had a laser scope on it.

"Our officers carry a gun that looks practically identical to this weapon," she said. "As you can see, it looks like a firearm that could kill you."

Jacobs said officers were responding to a call about armed robbery -- a group was sticking people up for money on the street, and one of them was armed, witnesses told cops.

The black 13-year-old was shot multiple times by Columbus police officer Bryan Mason, who is white. Mason, a nine-year veteran of the department, opened fire when Tyre pulled what appeared to be a weapon from his waistband, police said.

Only later did Sherlocks realize it was a BB gun, police said.

I'm a dog person but my wife is a real animal lover supreme. Since I started dating her we've had 14 hourses, several chickens, 5 or six cats, 5 dogs, innumerable hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs for the kids and a hedge-hog. When the last dog was getting too old she wanted a cat but I refused mainly on the grounds that inside cats destroyed things and I think it's unfair to declaw a cat.

She found a shelter that had an older cat that was declawed so I caved in.........we're now on the 3rd of that kind, no more than two at a time. Except for shedding they're not too bad. The second one came with the gun..

Swaggering Syria Shoots at Israeli Jets, Flying Toward War?
To be accurate, they shot at the Israeli jets, and missed.
[Observer] Syria shot two surface-to-air missiles at Israeli jets--and they shot at the Israeli jets not even over their own air space.

These were not errant missiles or spillover shots which is military parlance for mistakes. These missiles were calculated and intentionally targeted shots from an S-200 Russian missile system aimed at Israeli jets that were, quite frankly, targeting Syrian rocket launchers.
Rocket launchers that, quite frankly, had just -- accidentally or not -- launched rockets into Israel.
This is a major change in Syrian engagement. It could signal an escalation of tensions between Israel and Syria, especially because three mortars were shot from Syria into Israel later that day.

US confirms two more freed Guantanamo inmates rejoined militant groups
[Ynet] In the first six months of 2016, two more bully boyz released from the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, have returned to fighting, the US government said on Wednesday.

Washington has confirmed that a total of nine people freed from Guantanamo have rejoined bad boy groups since President Barack Obama
I bowled a 129. It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something...
took office in 2009, according to a report issued on Tuesday by the Office of Director of National Intelligence, or ODNI.

The report said the number of bully boyz freed by the B.O. regime whom US agencies "suspect" of having returned to action dropped to 11 from 12 between January and July.

An official familiar with the latest statistics said this number dropped because a freed detainee previously categorized as "suspected" of returning to the battlefield now has been confirmed to have done so.

Europe
Kosovo prosecutor pledges impartial probe of atrocities
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The new chief prosecutor of an international effort to bring to justice those responsible for atrocities during Kosovo’s battle for independence pledged Thursday to carry out his investigations "without fear or favor."

David Schwendiman, a former US federal prosecutor who has also worked in Bosnia and Afghanistan, told news hounds he is "aware of the political sensitivity of what I am doing," but stressed "I will be guided only by the facts and the law."

Schwendiman was speaking at his first presser since his appointment Sept. 1 as lead prosecutor at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers, a separate branch of the Kosovo courts that will have its headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.

Schwendiman is investigating allegations made in a 2010 Council of Europe report that senior members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), including current Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, ran detention centers where civilian captives including Serbs were killed and their organs sold on the black market during Kosovo’s 1998-99 war for independence from Serbia. Thaci denies the claims.

While the Council of Europe named suspects it alleged were involved in such atrocities, Schwendiman said he would not identify suspects until he was ready to file charges.

"You will know when someone is accused when an indictment or charging document accusing them is made public," he said.

The court’s registrar, Fidelma Donlon, said it aims to begin "judicial activity" in the first half of next year. That will likely involve judges adopting rules to govern how trials will be run.

Key to the new court’s success will be its ability to protect witnesses willing to testify. United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
attempts to prosecute former KLA fighters for crimes including murder and torture were largely unsuccessful because of what judges called widespread intimidation of witnesses.

Donlon said the court would "implement the highest standards of protection" for witnesses and others involved in trials.

"This is something we take very seriously," she said.

#BlackLivesMatter Leader Robbed – Demands More Police Protection
[LI] I certainly don't want anyone robbed at gunpoint.

Not even to a local leader of the Black Lives Matters movement despite the Black Lives Matter movement having taken on an anti-police call to action.

There is great irony, however, when such a leader then also calls for more police protection, as happened recently in Houston with Jerry Ford, Jr.:

Head of Iran’s Quds force to stay in position ‘for life’

In a short statement published by the Iranian general on the website of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Sepah News, Suleimani said "The front of the enemies (against) the Iranian revolution and the sacred system of the Islamic Theocratic Republic make statements to create divisions and confrontations between the united revolutionary people (of Iran)".

He did not make clear indications as to which allegations he was responding to, but Sepah News said his statement came following "allegations" by the "enemy media" and "some US officials" regarding the general's position.

"God willing, I will stay in my ’military service’ position for life," his statement read while confirming his devotion to the Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei and the Iranian nation.

Suleimani has played a big role in Iran’s foreign military operations, especially in Syria where the Quds Force is helping pro-government forces in their fight against Syrian rebels, and also in Iraq where Shiite groups affiliated with Iran are engaged in the fight against the Islamic State

Afghanistan
Terrorist groups from face-to-face to face-to-faceless: Ghani
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Afghanistan's Caped President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
spoke regarding the ’Fifth Wave of Political Violence and Global Terrorism’ at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) during his 2-Day State visit to India.

Describing the ’fifth wave’ as probably one of the "most well-financed movements in history" he observed that "in the absence of rules of the game", and due to the willingness of some states to sponsor non-state actors, the phenomena has evolved over the years with deepened and broadened techniques. The understanding of the current political violence has largely been reactive, due to which global actions have been sporadic and not sustained, he observed.

Elaborating on the revolution in networking as a striking feature of the fifth wave, the Afghan president observed that the terrorist networks that previously used to be face-to-face or in small groups have now become face-to-faceless, resulting in a distinct form of mobilization, according to a statement by IDSA.

Political violence is not owned by a specific culture, religion or geographic space, and requires careful analysis. Criminality and political violence have become organically related, he said, adding that there is a distinctive form of violence that is inflicted on the citizens and that results in erosion of state authority.

Insisting that the minority groups should not be allowed to hijack civilisations, the President pointed out that the murderous Moslems target public spaces to disrupt the compact between the citizens and the state. The objective is to induce fear in a systematic manner which effectively breaks the bond of trust between citizens and state.

President Ghani also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his generous offer of $1 billion assistance for Afghanistan’s development.

Director General, IDSA, Shri Jayant Prasad lauded President Ghani for his message of optimism and confidence that reflected the resilience, patience and perseverance of the Afghan people.

38 ISIS Turbans smoked near Hasakah
[ARA News] HASAKAH – Clashes broke out between Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Islamic State (ISIS) militants in Syria’s northeastern Hasakah Governorate, military sources reported on Thursday.

At least 38 ISIS militants and nine YPG fighters were killed in the skirmish. Five ISIS radicals were subsequently arrested near the Shaddadi City, in Hasakah’s southern countryside.

“Daesh terrorists attacked our basis near Shaddadi by carrying out three car bomb attacks,” YPG fighter Hajar Osman told ARA News, using an Arabic acronym for ISIS.

“Then clashes broke out between our [YPG] forces and Daesh militants in the villages of Keshkesh and Zenat in Shaddadi suburb. We forced the group to withdraw after killing 38 terrorists and arresting five others,” the source said.

ISIS militants reportedly withdrew towards their bases in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The YPG leadership said that their forces seized four ISIS vehicles and a great deal of ammunition after the clashes.

Bangladesh
Women arrested in Azimpur are ‘wives of top militants’
[Dhaka Tribune] Three suspected female bandidos snuffies jugged
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
in Azimpur were married to three top bad boys, the counter-terrorism unit says.

Officials say the women knew each other from before and that their husbands had coaxed them into militancy. Two of the arrested women are highly educated.

Counter-terrorism unit Additional Deputy Commissioner Sanowar Hossain said the bandidos snuffies were undergoing treatment. Once they get well, they would be produce before the court.

"We hope to get more information after interrogation," he said.

Counter-terrorism sources say the three female bandidos snuffies are Afrin alias Priyoti, 25, wife of JMB leader Nurul Islam Marjan, Abedatul Arfin alias Khadiza, 35, wife of dead bad boy Tanvir Qadri alias Abdul Karim, and bad boy leader Jaman alias Basharuzzaman’s wife Shaila Afrin, 23.

Names of their husbands were mentioned in a case filed against them.

A source says, Priyoti is the daughter of one Abdul Jalil who lives in Pabna’s Ishwardi. Marjan is her maternal cousin. The couple went into hiding soon after they were married this January. Priyoti has reportedly passed Alim from a local madrasa.
According to the internet, the Alim exam appears to be Bangladesh's madrassah equivalent of a high school diploma.
Militant Jaman’s wife Shaila, daughter of one Abul Hashem, had gone missing two years ago when she was an undergraduate student. The family filed a complaint with Kalabagan police. She reportedly got involved in militancy after her marriage to Jaman.

Shaila’s one-year-old child was at the Azimpur den. She (Shaila, not the kid, ed.) attacked the coppers with knife and tried to escape by leaving her child behind.

Counter-terrorism sources say bad boy Tanvir’s wife Khadiza, daughter of one Kawsar Ahammed, is a highly-educated woman. Her ancestral home is at West Batkamari area under Boali Union of Gaibandha Sadar upazila.

She used to work at a private company like her husband. Tanvir coaxed his wife into militancy. Shortly after that, the couple left their jobs.

Counter-terrorism officials say Tanvir’s whole family is involved in militancy. Their two sons followed in their parents’ footsteps. One of them, Tahrim Qadri alias Rasel, was arrested from the Azimpur den. Police named him in a case filed over the raid. Rasel’s brother is said to have been sent on the path of ’Jihad’.

Jebunnahar, the wife of New JMB’s military trainer Maj (retd) Jahidul Islam, who was killed in a police raid, escaped with her daughter before the police raid at Azimpur.

Her passport and bank documents have been seized from there.

Counter-terrorism officials said they found out about the hideout when looking for Jebunnahar. Raids are being conducted to arrest her.

One of the officials say they suspect Jebunnahar had managed to get in touch with another bad boy and is laying low at a different hideout.

Her family members said Jebunnahar led a modern life and got involved in militancy through her husband. She started wearing veil at her husband Jahid’s insistence. They said Jahid used to offer prayers but he started taking religious activities too seriously for about a year and tried to influence the family members.

The counter-terrorism unit raided a building at Azimpur on Saturday night. The body of bad boy Tanvir alias Jamshed Hossain alias Shamser Uddin alias Abdul Karim, 40, was recovered from there. Police say he did away with himself.

Three suspected female bandidos snuffies and a 14-year-old boy were arrested. Police said two of the women tried to kill themselves during the raid. The third woman was arrested when fleeing.

Kenya denies abuse of refugees in push to close Somali camp
Kenya reaffirmed on Thursday its plan to close the world’s largest refugee camp by November, rejecting allegations by Human Rights Watch (HRW) that it is harassing and intimidating Somali refugees to return home when it is not safe to do so.

The rights group said Kenya is not giving the refugees a real choice between being repatriated or staying,
International law doesn't require them to...
and that the United Nation’s refugee agency, UNHCR, is not giving refugees accurate information about the risks they face in Somalia.

“Our timeline is November 30th for closure of the camp,” Karanja Kibicho, principal secretary for Kenya’s interior ministry, told the Thomson Reuters Foundation. “We are trying to restore sanity in matters of refugee affairs. We are a sovereign country that is trying to address a security concern and we are as humane as possible.”
Kenya isn't a wealthy country, and can't afford to feed indefinitely a large number of refugees who aren't working and don't contribute.
A spokesman for UNHCR in Kenya said the agency would have to study HRW’s report before responding.

Kenya announced in May that it would close Dadaab, home to more than 300,000 mostly Somali refugees, by November, following deadly attacks on Kenyan soil by Somali Islamist group al Shabaab. The government says al Shabaab has used the camp as a recruiting ground for its attacks.

Kenya softened its stance in June, following an outcry from rights groups who said much of Somalia was not yet safe for return, and agreed a goal of halving Dadaab’s population by the end of 2016. Kibicho’s comments suggest the government is sticking to its original November deadline.

There has been a surge in departures from Dadaab in recent months with more than 24,000 refugees returning to Somalia since December 2014, the United Nations said.
So apparently it's safe enough...
HRW interviewed 100 refugees and asylum seekers in Dadaab, some of whom said in a report released on Thursday that they agreed to return home because they fear the Kenyan government will deport them if they stay.

Community leaders told HRW that a government official intimidated them at a meeting in July.

“When I tried to tell the (official) that people can’t go back, that it is not as safe as he suggests, he pointed his finger at me and told me to sit down,” HRW quoted one elder as saying. “He told me to pick up a gun and defend my country … After that meeting, people began to really worry that we would be put into lorries come November.”
It's rather sensible advice -- defend your country. I don't expect the wimmin and children to pick up a gun, but if you're a military aged man, you have a job to do, and it isn't fleeing to a refugee camp in Kenya or relocation center in Germany.
In 2014, Kenyan authorities deported more than 300 people to Somalia in a crackdown the United Nations said violated the 1951 Refugee Convention which prohibits refoulement — the forcible return of refugees to areas where their lives would be threatened.

“These people are voluntarily taking themselves (home)…” Kibicho said. “We are a country that respects our obligations to the international conventions.”

Refugees who choose not to return to Somalia will be taken to Kakuma, he said, referring to Kenya’s second refugee camp, which mostly hosts people fleeing war in South Sudan.
Oh joy, I'll bet that camp is another barrel of laughs...
The United Nations has struggled to raise funds to provide health and education services to refugees returning to Somalia.
Strangely, the U.N. hasn't had any trouble at all raising funds for the apparatchiks' per diems, Land Cruisers and house girls...

[IsraelTimes] 5th Avenue attack on hijab-clad Brit caught on video, being investigated as possible hate crime

Police were on the hunt Tuesday for a man who set fire to a veiled British woman’s clothing in Manhattan, as the American Moslem community says it faces growing Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
The attack took place late Saturday in front of a luxury boutique on 5th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

The British woman, age 35, said she was walking when she suddenly felt her shirt sleeve on fire.

Police declined to provide further details on the attack, saying only that they were investigating a potential hate crime. On Monday, the police released images of the incident caught by surveillance cameras and asked the public to help find the suspect.

The New York branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations
... the Moslem Brüderbund's American arm ...
, which is in touch with the victim and is providing legal help, said it could not confirm whether the suspect was motivated by anti-Moslem sentiment, though his victim was wearing a hijab at the time.

"It’s another (piece of) evidence that Moslems are increasingly vulnerable in this hostile political climate," said Zainab Chaudry, a CAIR
...designated a terrorist group by the UAE...
spokeswoman.

"Even in places like New York City, one of the most diverse in the US, we are seeing a spike in anti-Moslem bigotry."

In August, a holy man and his assistant were shot to death on the street near their mosque in the borough of Queens. An investigation into that incident has not yet established that it was Islamophobic.

After that attack, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that additional coppers would be deployed to secure mosques and the Moslem community.

Authorities would not immediately confirm the identity of Saturday’s victim. The New York Post said she was a dentist from Glasgow, Scotland.

India-Pakistan
Maoists fourth deadliest terror outfit after Taliban, IS, Boko Haram: Report
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] The world witnessed 11,774 terror attacks in 2015, in which 28,328 people were killed and 35,320 injured. India was the fourth worst-affected country after Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistain, with 43% of 791 attacks in the country carried out by Naxalites. A total of 289 Indians died in terror strikes.

Data collected by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism contracted with the US state department revealed that Taliban, Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
were the three deadliest terror groups globally. They were followed by CPI(Maoist), a banned outfit.

The CPI(Maoist) was responsible for 343 terror attacks in 2015, killing 176 people. Taliban were involved in 1,093 strikes in which 4,512 people bit the dust, IS launched 931 attacks which claimed the lives of 6,050 people and Boko Haram was involved in 491 attacks killing 5,450 people. Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which rounded off the top five in the list, was involved in 238 strikes, killing 287.

Over half the terror attacks in India took place in four states -- Chhattisgarh (21%), Manipur (12%), J&K (11%) and Jharkhand (10%). Chhattisgarh, which has been hit hard by Left-wing extremism, reported a doubling of terror attacks in 2015 -- from 76 in 2014 to 167.

The report said there was great diversity in the perpetrators/terrorist groups involved in attacks in the country, with 45 outfits active across the country. The Naxals alone accounted for 43% of terrorist attacks in India last year. The report said the number of people kidnapped/taken hostage by murderous Moslems and Lion of Islam groups in India almost tripled in 2015, increasing to 862 from 305 in 2014. Of this, Naxals alone kidnapped/took hostage 707 persons last year compared with 163 in 2014. In 2014, there were no attacks in which 50 or more people were kidnapped or taken hostage while in 2015, there were seven such attacks, all of them attributed to Maoists.
