A quiet Tuesday afternoon here transformed into a raucous demonstration when people gathered outside the Red Hen to protest the restaurant's treatment of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Some carried enormous President Donald Trump flags and donned red "Make America Great Again" hats. Others carried signs asking for tolerance and civility. And as the action escalated, many just turned up to watch.

And the restaurant will remain closed until July 5th. Lost sales while overhead remains fixed — a risky business choice.

Anthony Kennedy retiring from Supreme Court
Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy will retire from the highest U.S. court, giving President Donald Trump another chance to fundamentally reshape the top of the judiciary.

In a letter to Trump dated Wednesday, Kennedy said he would step down.

"For a member of the legal profession, it is the highest of honors to serve on this Court," he wrote. "Please permit me by this letter to express my profound gratitude for having had the privilege to seek in each case how best to know, interpret and defend the Constitution and the laws that must always conform to its mandates and promises.

#8 Frank G,
Loretta L on the Supreme Court!!! Had she gotten on there.... I don't even want to consider such a situation. Too upsetting. The perpetual motion machine, ie her jaw muscles, would certainly slow down the deliberation process and there would be no surprises here as to her voting.

Man's body found inside beer cooler at SunTrust Park, Cobb cops say
[Atlanta Constipation] A body was found Tuesday afternoon inside a walk-in beer cooler at SunTrust Park, according to a Cobb County police spokeswoman.

The man was a third-party contractor and was found by a fellow worker, Officer Sarah O’Hara said.

When asked if foul play was suspected, O’Hara said: "This is still an active investigation so I am unable to speculate whether or not foul play is a factor."

She said the person’s identity would not be released until the family was notified.

O’Hara said the Braves are helping with the investigation.

The Braves played the Cincinnati Reds at 7:35 p.m. as scheduled Tuesday. The team is set to play the Reds on Wednesday at 12:10 p.m.

Supreme Court deals major financial blow to nation's public employee unions
A deeply divided Supreme Court dealt a major blow to the nation's public employee unions Wednesday that likely will result in a loss of money, members and political muscle.

After three efforts in 2012, 2014 and 2016 fell short, the court's conservative majority ruled 5-4 that unions cannot collect fees from non-members to help defray the costs of collective bargaining. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the decision, with dissents from Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.

About 5 million workers could be affected by the ruling, which overrules the court's 1977 decision in Abood v. Detroit Board of Education ‐ those who pay dues or "fair-share" fees to unions in 23 states where public employees can be forced to contribute. Workers in 27 states cannot be forced to join or pay unions.

"We recognize that the loss of payments from nonmembers may cause unions to experience unpleasant transition costs in the short term and may require unions to make adjustments in order to attract and retain members," Alito wrote. "But we must weigh these disadvantages against the considerable windfall that unions have received under Abood for the past 41 years."

Justice Neil Gorsuch cast the deciding vote against what conservative opponents have labeled a form of compelled speech. The money helps labor unions maintain political power in some of the nation's most populous states, including California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Gorsuch, who had remained silent during oral argument in February, was the key because the court had deadlocked in a similar case two years ago following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia. The newest justice recently authored the court's 5-4 ruling that denied workers the right to join together in class action lawsuits rather than submit employer-sponsored arbitration.

The 2016 case challenged a powerful teachers union in California; the new one targeted state employees in Illinois. But the threatened impact was the same: elimination of fees paid by police, firefighters, teachers and other government workers who don't join the unions that represent them.

The landmark ruling overrules the court's own 41-year-old precedent, which said workers did not have to pay for unions' political activity but could be required to contribute to other costs of representation, such as wage and benefit negotiations and grievance procedures.

The court's decision frees those non-members from the fees, but unions also are braced to lose some dues-paying members who stand to save more under the new rule. That could force unions to raise dues on those who remain.

The case, Janus v. American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, was backed by conservative groups that have tried for years to overturn the court's 1977 decision upholding the fees for collective bargaining but not for political action.

The court ruled 7-2, 5-4 and 4-4 on three similar cases in the past six years, eating away at the 1977 decision without overruling it entirely. In 2016, Scalia's death a month after oral arguments denied conservatives their fifth vote.

The decision comes at a time when 61% of Americans approve labor unions -- the highest rating in Gallup polls since 2003 -- and teachers' strikes have roiled states from West Virginia and Kentucky to Oklahoma, Colorado and Arizona.

"The fictional narrative of labor’s downfall is being upended by the reality working people are creating for ourselves," AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said recently. "No matter the outcome of this case, millions of workers will continue to stand together to build a stronger, fairer America."

It remains unclear what impact the ruling will have on organized labor in general, which has suffered a 70-year decline in union membership. The nation's roughly 15 million union members make up less than 11% of the workforce, a drop from 35% during World War II. The decline is magnified in the private sector, where only 6.5% of workers remain unionized.

In the public sector, more than one in three workers belong to a union, a percentage that has held relatively steady for decades. AFSCME, the National Education Association, Service Employees International Union and American Federation of Teachers now face a likely loss of members.

Some groups that have fought to end compulsory fees argue that unions can stave off membership declines by better representing workers. They cite data from states such as Indiana and Michigan after the enactment of right-to-work laws.

Kinder Morgan, EagleClaw, Apache propose development of Permian Highway line
[Oil & Gas Journal] Kinder Morgan Inc. subsidiary KMI Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline LLC (KMTP), EagleClaw Midstream Ventures LLC, a portfolio company of Blackstone Energy Partners, and Apache Corp. have signed a letter of intent for the development of the proposed Permian Highway Pipeline Project (PHP Project).
A very collectible porcelain sign of the old Standard Oil Company of Ohio (now BP) and hat tip to the men and women who helped 'Make America Great' during the period 1911 - 1991.
The $2-billion PHP Project is designed to transport as much as 2 bcfd of gas through 430 miles of 42-in. pipeline from the Waha, Tex., area to the US Gulf Coast and Mexico. KMI also is evaluating the economic and hydraulic feasibility of a 48-in. pipeline with increased transportation capacity.

Subject to the execution of definitive agreements and receipt of construction approvals, the project is expected to be in service in late 2020, coinciding with growth and scale Permian production as well as Apache’s production forecast for Alpine High, said Brian Freed, Apache’s senior vice-president, midstream and marketing (OGJ Online, Sept. 7, 2016).

Natural gas supply will be sourced into the PHP Project from multiple locations, including the companies’ existing systems in the Permian basin, with additional interconnections to both intrastate and interstate pipeline systems in the Waha area. The PHP Project will hold capacity on KMI’s intrastate pipeline systems in the market area, enabling gas delivery to the Katy market hub, the Agua Dulce market hub, the Coastal Bend and Kinder Morgan Tejas headers connected to the Freeport LNG export facility, the Cheniere header connected to the Cheniere Corpus Christi LNG export facility, and numerous pipelines along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Henry McMaster wins S.C. runoff election after Trump visit
[Washington Times] COLUMBIA, S.C. ‐ One of President Donald Trump’s earliest and most loyal supporters won a key runoff Tuesday, as South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster fended off a challenge from a self-made millionaire to secure the Republican gubernatorial nomination.

The vote tested the heft of Trump’s endorsement in South Carolina, where McMaster, 71, was elevated to the governorship he’d long sought early last year following the departure of Nikki Haley to serve as U.N. ambassador. As lieutenant governor, McMaster was the nation’s first statewide elected official to back Trump, ahead of South Carolina’s early presidential primary.

McMaster - a former state attorney general and U.S. attorney who was elected lieutenant governor in 2014 - has had the last year and a half to develop the mantle of an incumbent. He’s tallied up economic development announcements and championed issues aligned with the president’s priorities, such as clamping down on sanctuary cities and restricting funding for groups affiliated with abortions.

In November’s general election, he’ll seek a full term for the office that eluded him in 2010, when he lost a four-way primary to Haley in his first bid for governor.

Leftist Hypocrisy Just Keeps on Comin'
[American Thinker] Peter Fonda called for pedophiles to rape Trump's 12-year-old son. Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters called for mob violence against conservatives and Republicans wherever they are seen in public. Kathy Griffin symbolically performed a bloody beheading of Trump. Snoop Dogg symbolically shot Trump in the head. Madonna expressed her desire to blow up the White House. Black Lives Matter told blacks to ambush and kill whites and police. The thread that ties these wacko big voices together is that they are members of the American left, enthusiastically encouraged by their homeys in fake news media. Yes, the American left is boldly calling for violence against all who disagree with its agenda.

Deranged Democrat Laurence Key vowed to kill Republican Brian Mast's kids over our immigration policy.

Numerous police (fathers and husbands) have been assassinated or wounded by Black Lives Matter assassins. Outrageously, the American left portrays BLM as saints for social justice ‐ while callously and relentlessly fueling the flames of hatred for our brave men and women in blue by promoting the lie that cops routinely murder blacks. Heather Mac Donald's research confirms that cops are the greatest defenders of black lives.

Meanwhile, fake news media portray conservatives and Republicans as the bad guys whenever they defend traditional cultural norms, our borders, and godly principles from attacks by the American left. The truth is that leftists are the aggressors, not we. Please note this truth, folks. Leftists always falsely accuse us of what they are actually doing: spewing hate, behaving uncivilly, and inciting violence.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) chose a wordless photo to express his reaction to today's Supreme Court ruling upholding President Trump's travel ban from several Muslim-majority nations.

Another good 5-4 decision.

Europe
Wind Power Increases Dependence on Fossil Fuels; Germany Must Soon Begin to Scrap Its Wind Units
h/t Gates of Vienna
A study analyzing energy supply in the European Union shows that increasing the level of wind-generated electricity also increases the level of fossil fuel-generated electricity, the opposite outcome suggested by those who argue that renewable energy is necessary to "get off carbon-based fuels." This is because, at times of insufficient wind, fossil-fuel plants generating plants are needed to provide back-up to the wind units. Further, the study found that increasing the number of power plants (whether wind or fossil-fuel) increased the power plant capacity that is idled, making the entire energy system less efficient and more costly. Wind turbines are idle when there is insufficient wind and fossil fuel plants are idled when the wind is blowing. Further adding to the issue is that, despite the increase in renewable energy in the European Union, carbon dioxide emissions increased, not decreased as was the intent. In 2017, the European Union increased its wind power by 25 percent and increased its solar power by six percent. Despite this massive investment in renewable energy, carbon dioxide emissions increased by 1.8 percent.

Democrats rushing toward an electoral cliff
[American Thinker] Am I missing something, or is the "fringe wing" of the Democratic Party (its now dominant wing) trying to take itself, and with it the whole party, off an electoral cliff?

After reading the news over the last couple weeks, let me see if I have this straight:

Leftist Democrats ‐ who in the Hate Trump era are the Democratic Party ‐ seem to want to make certain that everyone in America knows their party's two core beliefs:

1. The United States has absolutely no right to defend its southern border. None. Any attempt to do so, to enforce the nation's immigration laws, passed by Congress and signed by multiple presidents, is cruel, white nationalist, xenophobic, and racist...and probably contributes to global warming. All the hundreds of thousands of human beings who show up at that border must be allowed instant entry to the country, given immediate access to every existing social welfare and public benefit program, and be allowed to vote in the next election on a ballot in their own languages.

2. Republicans, conservatives, and everyone now working in the Trump administration, including all employees of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), deserve to be refused service in places of public accommodation, including restaurants, theaters, and hotels; hounded from those places, if they somehow get in, by threatening mobs; and then, together with their families and children, harassed and intimidated in their own homes.

Dear God, please, please, please let the Democrats keep this up for the rest of the summer.

Could the Republican National Committee fund a nationwide speaking tour for Maxine Waters?

Europe
Europe seeks to pin down President Trump – and America
h/t Gates of Vienna
[CarolineGlick] National Security Advisor John Bolton said last Wednesday that while discussion of President Donald Trump’s decision to leave the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has centered on the administration’s revulsion with its institutional anti-Israel bias, the move was really about restoring American control over U.S. foreign policy.

In his words: "We did talk about Israel [in setting out our reasons for leaving the UNHRC] because it’s singled out unfairly. But in many respects, Israel is, as the saying goes, ’the canary in the mine shaft’ for the United States. Countries that attack Israel do so because they think it’s easier, but much of their criticism is really aimed at us."

Bolton added, "Getting off of the council is an assertion of America’s determination to stick to its Constitution and not to recognize that there’s some ’higher authority’ at the UN ... to judge our performance or to give us advice on how to implement the constitution ... That’s what this is about: self-government."

...The UNHRC is a perfect vehicle for advancing Europe’s foreign policy. Its name gives it a do-gooder halo effect. The notion that a "human rights council" could be anything but a force for good in the world is hard to accept.

But a year after it was established, the council focused its efforts not on protecting human rights, but on attacking the human rights of Jews in Israel. In 2007, the UNHRC passed Permanent Agenda Item 7. Item 7 created a separate standard for judging the Jewish state. Under Item 7, Israel is automatically subjected to condemnation for every action it takes to defend itself. Under Item 7, the council automatically embraces every Palestinian libel against Israel.

...In her remarks Tuesday explaining America’s decision to leave the UNHRC, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley expressed frustration at the fact that Europe had refused to assist in the U.S.’s efforts to reform the UNHRC by, among other things, cancelling Agenda Item 7.

...Haley attributed their refusal to help to cowardice ‐ or what she called "moral compromise."

Haley’s explanation for Europe’s refusal to work with the U.S. on what she thought was a common goal of ending the UNHRC’s anti-Semitism was reasonable, but wrong. And her mistake was understandable.

The EU and its member nations go to great lengths to hide the fact that they are on the opposite side of the fence from the U.S. in regards to Israel specifically and the issue of nationalism and U.S. independence more broadly.

The Supreme Court Gets the ‘Travel Ban' Case Right
[National Review] In sustaining President Trump’s so-called travel ban, the Supreme Court has vindicated "the authority of the Presidency itself," not the sometimes overheated campaign rhetoric of the incumbent president, as Chief Justice John Roberts wrote today for the narrow majority.

On the merits, Trump v. Hawaii was a straightforward case. The proclamation issued by the president in September 2017 (the last refinement of earlier iterations) was not actually a "ban" on travel. It placed restrictions on the nationals of eight countries that present extraordinary challenges for visa vetting because their governments are either dysfunctional or hostile to the United States ‐ Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, Yemen, and Somalia (the last added when Iraq was removed from the original list).

Aliens have no constitutional right to enter the United States and, as the Court’s majority observed, the admission and exclusion of foreign nationals is a "fundamental sovereign attribute exercised by the Government’s political departments largely immune from judicial control." In that connection, Congress has enacted section 1182(f) of federal immigration law (Title 8 of the U.S. Code), which vests broad authority in the president to suspend the entry of classes of aliens ‐ which includes setting conditions and time-frames on such suspensions ‐ if the president unilaterally concludes that their admission "would be detrimental to the interests of the United States."

Quite apart from the fact that Trump was thus acting at the apex of his authority (in an area of core presidential responsibility with sweeping statutory support), the travel restrictions were imposed only after an exhaustive process in which executive agencies responsible for visa-issuance decisions evaluated every country in the world for compliance with U.S. needs for information-sharing and risk-assessment. The majority noted that the twelve-page proclamation was more detailed with factual findings than any ever issued under the statute. The restrictions imposed were not based on nationality per se, much less religion, but on inadequacies in addressing risks. There was, in addition, a proviso that the "conditional restrictions" would remain in force only as long as the cited countries failed to address the problems identified. And, indeed, the chief justice pointed out that three countries ‐ Iraq, Sudan, and Chad ‐ have been removed from the list.

Chelsea Manning loses Senate bid
[Washington Examiner] Activist Chelsea Manning was defeated in a bid to deny Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., renomination on Tuesday.

Manning always faced an uphill battle against the incumbent Cardin. She lagged badly in fundraising and faced questions about how active she really was on the campaign trail. But the Manning campaign did attract national attention and some enthusiasm from liberal activists both in and outside of Maryland.

Then known as Bradley Manning, the Army intelligence analyst was convicted of leaking classified documents. Manning was hailed as a whistleblower by supporters and condemned as a threat to national security by critics.

President Barack Obama commuted Manning’s sentence. Manning transitioned into a woman, took the name Chelsea, and became an advocate for LGBT rights as well as enhanced privacy protections.

Harley-Davidson Had Been Looking To Move Production Off Shore For A While
[Mercer] Conservatism once had the genius of James Burnham, Russell Kirk, Frank Chodorov, and Felix Morley; now the brand boasts Rich Lowry, Meghan McCain and S. E. Cupp.

The last has learned nothing from the 2016 election. S. E. Cupp, a Never Trumper who hosts a CNN show, is betting against Donald Trump. She says, "Trump Supporters Soon Will Learn That No One Wins A Trade War."

Where’s the learning curve? I would not bet on Trump losing a trade war.

This is not to advocate tariffs. I am for free trade. But here’s the clincher. We don’t have free-market capitalism. Never have; at least not in recent memory.

Thus, "trade deficits must be seen in the context of state-managed trade and systemic debt." That’s what Trump is negotiating; he’s not messing with the divine order in which we true free-marketers believe. For it doesn’t exist.

As for Harley-Davidson’s decision to move some of its production outside of the U.S.: Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Kennedy of Fox Business disclosed that the company had been looking to move production off shore for a while and were searching for an excuse to do so.

Harley was born of mistakes, its business leadership run from one mistake, AMF, to another, the daughter shifting the business from motorcycles to fashion. They finally ran out their Harley designer and added some horsepower to the bikes, they fixed the suspension issues, and the bikes are looking better. So its logical in the history of Harley to screw it all up by doing something stupid. Harley owners will wait it out, it will self correct.

More young Marines ride the pocket rocket imports. The older ones still prefer the Harley. It appeals to an older crowd though which section of the country is also a factor.

Liberals' Hatred Will Inevitably Turn Into Violence
[Townhall] Many of us are predicting that eventually these foam-spitting, psycho liberals are going to embrace violence out of frustration at their inability to recover the power we stripped from them, but we’re already past that point. Just ask Steve Scalise, alive today only because the Bernie bro who tried to massacre a bunch of Republicans, as well as Jeff Flake, did not know how to shoot.

But we Normals do know how to shoot, and that’s significant. Because, as I have grown hoarse from shouting, I see these leftist morons charging headlong down the same slippery slope I was stationed at the bottom of in Kosovo.

The bottom of the slope is really bad, and they should stop their descent. Now.

But there’s no sign of sanity. This week they turned the hate up to "11," then cranked it to "17." There are not many places to go once you reach "You are real live Nazis murdering children by not letting aspiring Democrat voters flow into the country at will!" At some point, instead of a few wild-eyed randos with crummy aim trying to off libs’ political/cultural opponents, they are going to start collectively going to go for the throat.

China-Japan-Koreas
Satellite images show North Korea upgrading nuclear research facility
[The Hill] Satellite images from last week show that North Korea is making numerous improvements to the infrastructure at a nuclear research facility, according to a new study.

The images, obtained by North Korea analysis outlet 38 North, come just weeks after President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed an agreement that called for a denuclearized Korean peninsula.

The satellite photos indicate that North Korea is quickly progressing on several adjustments to the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center.

The improvements include a new cooling water pump house, multiple new buildings, completed construction on a cooling water reservoir and an apparently active Radiochemical Laboratory. It is unclear whether the reactor is still in operation, the report said.

38 North notes that North Korean nuclear officials are expected to proceed with "business as usual" until Kim orders official changes to procedure.

The agreement between Trump and Kim, signed at the historic summit in Singapore earlier this month, commits the U.S. to "security guarantees" in exchange for a denuclearized Korean peninsula. Critics said that the deal was unspecific and gave too much to North Korea without securing anything for the U.S. in return.

Ahead of the meeting between the two leaders, North Korea claimed to have destroyed its Punggye-ri nuclear testing site.

Man arrested after he jumps on plane wing, pounds on windows at Atlanta airport, police say
[WSB-2] ATLANTA - Officials at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport say a man has been apprehended on the tarmac of the airport after he scaled a fence, jumped on the wing of a plane and pounded on the windows.

The incident happened shortly before 5 p.m. and did not impact airport operations.

Atlanta Police arrested Jhryin Jones, 19, on the tarmac. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespassing, public indecency and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Channel 2's Rikki Klaus obtained recordings from the control tower and the cockpit as the incident was unfolding.

"He is tossing some stuff around. My guess is he has his clothes off and now he’s laying on pavement...doing some pushups," an official on the recording said.

Cell phone video shot by passengers shows Jones talking to himself and making gestures toward the plane, which had just landed from Miami.

Working-age Illinois Residents Are Fleeing the State Amid Debt Crisis
[Free Beacon] An Illinois Policy Institute analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data found that Illinois's working-age population declined by 41,000 from July 2016 to July 2017, even though the United States' prime working-age population grew by almost 450,000 over the same time period. The state also saw slower population growth in every working-age population category, which includes people between the ages of 25-54.

"Illinois is losing its workforce to other states because of its bad economic policies. A shrinking workforce has serious implications for the long-term health of our state’s economy," said Orphe Divounguy, chief economist at the Illinois Policy Institute. "The state should be focused on making it an appealing decision for working-age people and young families to plant roots in Illinois through policies that will reduce the cost of doing business and improve living standards."

The state has been entrenched in a crisis during a period of economic stability in the rest of the nation. Illinois experienced 28 percent slower income growth than the rest of the United States from 2015 to 2016, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. Hiring has also proved more rare; the unemployed face more hurdles in finding work than their counterparts in other states. Illinois job seekers stayed unemployed 33 percent longer than unemployed workers in the rest of the nation.

#5  the peasants have a tendency to flee the land. But, who pays attention to history.
The dying Roman empire had the same problem. They attempted to solve it by introducing serfdom and basically enslaved the formerly free peasants to the land they were tilling. This gave the peasants even more reason to bug out and join the barbarians who would soon kick the old Empire to pieces.

Ann Coulter to Trump: Authorize the U.S. Military to Build Border Wall
[Breitbart] Coulter said:

He does not need Congress. Get that, memorize it, tattoo it on your arm. The president of the United States has, as his number one job, protecting America, defending the borders. This BS about ’Oh I want to get it done if only Congress would let me.’ No, what was so great about the Trump campaign ... is 90 percent of what he was promising us ... every single thing he promised is 100 percent within the purview of the president’s power. He can build a wall, he never needed Congress, knock it off with the excuses. [Emphasis added]

That’s what our military used to do. We used to not be engaging in adventurism halfway around the globe, which apparently everyone is on the same page that a president can just like randomly bomb wedding parties without checking with Congress, 10,000 miles away from us. But no, no if it comes to protecting American citizens ‐ can’t do that ... that’s what our military used to do, they built walls and forts and barriers on our border. [Emphasis added]

High-ranking House Democrat dealt surprise defeat at polls
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Democratic Party’s insurgent left wing and Republican U.S. President Donald Trump each claimed big victories on Tuesday, as voters in seven states selected the parties’ candidates for November’s midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.

U.S. Representative Joseph Crowley, a high-ranking Democrat seen as a possible future leader of the chamber, lost his re-election bid in a stunning upset that highlighted the ideological battles at play in this year’s midterm elections.

Crowley, a 10-term incumbent who was fourth in line in the House of Representatives’ Democratic leadership, was defeated by 28-year-old challenger Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a safely Democratic district in New York City.

Political analysts cast Ocasio-Cortez’s win as the biggest upset since House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, a Republican, lost in 2014 to a little-known right-wing professor, Dave Brat.

The outcome of the New York race added fuel to the battle between the Democratic Party’s establishment wing, led by longtime House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, and a more liberal faction inspired by Bernie Sanders’ presidential run in 2016. Ocasio-Cortez served as an organizer for Sanders’ campaign.
Her priorities:
Banish ICE
Medicare For All
Free Education
Open Borders
Universal Jobs Guarantee
Housing As a Human Right
Invest in 100% Renewable Energy
"Justice System Reform" = open the jails

She went to Boston University, where she studied economics and international relations. After graduation she took up bartending and waitressing jobs to supplement her mother's income as a housecleaner and bus driver.

Fentanyl Laced Flyer: A Texas Deputy Touched A Piece Of Paper And Ended Up In The Hospital
[USA Today] A Texas deputy was treated at a hospital and then released on Tuesday after she touched a flyer suspected of being laced with fentanyl, a potent and potentially deadly opioid.

The sergeant found a flyer on her windshield, removed it and soon began feeling light-headed, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

She went to the hospital for treatment, according to Gonzalez. A Tuesday afternoon tweet from the sheriff's office said the deputy was treated for possible fentanyl exposure and released from the hospital.

An investigation revealed that the flyers had been placed on more than 10 vehicles, and one of the fliers tested positive for fentanyl, Gonzalez said.

The positive fentanyl test did not come from the flyer on the sickened sergeant's vehicle, but all flyers are currently being tested, a spokesman for the Harris County Sheriff's office told USA TODAY in an email.

The fliers were found on cars near a precinct that houses the Houston-area sheriff's department's violent crime unit and homicide division.

"We're on high alert at this time because, obviously, with this being a police facility, we don't know if it was intended to target law enforcement or perhaps it was just randomly placed here," Gonzalez said.

Five more Bahrainis stripped of their citizenship
[EN.ABNA24] Manama’s courts stripped another five Bahrainis of their nationality on Monday, bringing the total number of citizenship revocations this year alone to just over 230.

Two of the defendants were convicted on ’terrorism’ charges and also slapped with lengthy prison terms.

In a separate case, a group of men were found guilty of belonging to the outlawed February 14 Youth Coalition and three had their citizenship revoked.

Rights groups estimate that the number of citizenship revocations in Bahrain since 2012 currently stands at over 735.

The right to a nationality is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to which Bahrain is a state party.

Kashmiri separatists call for Islamabad to launch diplomatic offensive
[DAWN] The United Jihad Council (UJC), an alliance of over a dozen Kashmiri separatist groups, on Tuesday played down the recent imposition of governor’s rule in India-held Kashmire as a "non-issue," noting that New Delhi had always run the occupied territory "through its stooges and puppet governments".

"For the sake of durable peace in the region, it is imperative that India read the writing on the wall, respect the wishes and aspirations of the Kashmiris and hold a free and fair plebiscite in accordance with the pledges made by its leadership after partition of the sub-continent," the UJC chief, Syed Salahuddin
...the aging, morbidly obese chief of Hizbul Mujaheddin and the titular head of the United Jihad Council in idyllic Kashmire. Originally owned body and theoretical soul by Jamaat-e-Islami he and his organization are currently controlled by Pakistain's ISI. Salahuddin's hobbies include crocheting doilies shaped like the Taj Mahal, combing his enormous beard, and eating....
, was quoted as saying in a blurb.

According to the blurb, issued by the group, the UJC conglomerate had on Tuesday held a high-level meeting with Salahuddin in the chair to discuss recent events in held Kashmire.

During the meeting, the UJC chief warned against a major humanitarian disaster in the face of unrelenting atrocities and human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
violations at the hands of Indian forces in held Kashmire.

Expressing serious concern over the "criminal silence" of the global institutions and powers, he stressed that Islamabad should go beyond its "traditional half-hearted" efforts and launch a forceful diplomatic initiative to draw the attention of the world community towards the agonising situation in the held territory.

Due Process for Undocumented Immigrants, Explained
[NYTIMES] Can the government bypass [due process provisions?]

Yes. A 1996 statute
...that was President Bill Clinton’s watch...
permits immigration authorities to deport people without a hearing, a lawyer or a right of appeal under certain conditions, a process known as expedited removal. Under current policy, the Department of Homeland Security criteria for expedited removals apply to undocumented migrants found within 100 miles of the border and within 14 days of entering the country. The statute imposes no geographic limit and allows for expedited removals up to two years after a migrant has entered the country, raising the possibility that the Trump administration may use this power more aggressively.

Can a new immigrant avoid expedited removal?

Yes, by seeking asylum. When that happens, officers at the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services — not a judge — will review cases to decide whether applicants have a credible fear of persecution back home. If so, they are placed in the immigration court system for a fuller consideration of their request. If officers decided that asylum seekers have no credible fear and should be deported, they still have a right to appeal that denial to an immigration judge, who has seven days to decide.

What about “zero tolerance” and criminal prosecution?

Further complicating matters, while asylum and deportation proceedings are a civil process, the government can also separately pursue criminal prosecution in regular federal court. Illegally entering the United States is a misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony for repeat offenders. In April, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a “zero tolerance” policy for such crimes.

#1  I saw a tweet yesterday from Gabriel Malor (who I'd be inclined to believe) that explains that in certain circumstances, they do have limited due process rights. #2  I'm sorry but an Illegal Alien (I refuse to call them 'undocumented immigrant' like the NY Slimes because they are not immigrants) has no right IMHO to any immigrantion proceeding. they should be brought before a criminal court (which does *not* have the power to grant Asylum or immigrant status) to determine if they broke the law and, if so, be immediately deported. That is the 'due process' they require. No Immigration courts or process, no granting of Asylum, just a criminal court.
As for Asylum - only petitions brought before a consulate or port of entry should be considered. you violate the border and you forfit any asylum consideration.
Do that and illegal immigration would dry up to near zero.
I know... but I can dream can't I?

Virginia mother shoots armed man, 25, who flew 8,500 miles from New Zealand and tried to break into her home
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] A man from New Zealand was shot after he travelled to the home of a 14-year-old girl in Virginia he was reportedly communicating with online.

Troy George Skinner, 25, was shot on Friday after he allegedly smashed a glass door and tried to enter the home in Goochland, Virginia.

He is now fighting for his life after being shot in the neck by the girl's mother. The FBI are investigating the shooting.

The Goochland County sheriff said Skinner bought a knife and duct tape after arriving in the U.S.

The sheriff also said the girl's mother saw a man trying to enter her home and began banging on the door with a brick.

The mom who was at home with her two daughters at the time warned him several times that she had a gun.

Skinner then threw the brick through the glass door and the teenage girl's mother fired twice, hitting Skinner once in the neck.

'All I can say is the manner in which he attempted to enter that home in the face of a firearm pointed at him and the implements we recovered from him - the only inference is that he had very bad intent,' Agnew said.

'He was not invited here, he was not expected here, he had been told in the past that the daughter no longer wished to communicate with him.'

Supreme Court rules in favor of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers in fight over California law
[FOXNEWS] The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in favor of pro-life crisis pregnancy centers that counsel pregnant women to make choices other than abortion, invalidating a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, law requiring them to prominently post information on how to obtain a state-funded abortion.

The court, in a 5-4 ruling, said the state law likely violates the First Amendment. The court also cast doubts on similar laws in Hawaii and Illinois.

The state regulations, targeting centers that provide counseling-related services with the goal of helping women make choices other than abortion, demanded such centers prominently post information on how to obtain abortion and contraception.

The law also required unlicensed, non-medical facilities to inform clients that they are not licensed medical providers. If pregnancy centers fail to comply with the law, they’re fined $500 for a first offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense, according to the law.

Pro-life groups had challenged the regulations, arguing that they violated their free speech rights under the First Amendment. Supporters of the law said that it was necessary since many women were unaware of the options available to them.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected both arguments and upheld the law -- arguing that the state could regulate professional free speech and the law protects public health interests. The Supreme Court reversed that judgement.

Justice Clarence Thomas said in his majority opinion,"California cannot co-opt the licensed facilities to deliver its message for it." He also called the regulations for unlicensed facilities "unjustified and unduly burdensome."

At Least 21 Shot in 14 Hours in Gun-Controlled Chicago
[Breitbart] The Chicago Tribune reports that the 11-year-old was "shot while walking to the store" and a 13-year-old was shot as bullets sprayed in another incident, killing one man and wounding two more. Two other individuals under the age of 18 were also shot during the 14 hours of violence.

Six individuals were wounded in another shooting where the gunman or gunmen simply opened fire, and four were wounded when a 19-year-old gunman opened fire "outside in the 12300 block of South Yale Avenue in West Pullman around 10:50 p.m." Someone returned fire on the 19-year-old, fatally wounding him with a shot to the chest.

In another incident, a 46-year-old man was sitting in a car when the passenger became embroiled in an argument with another party. Shots rang out and the 46-year-old was shot seven times in the chest, killing him.

On June 5, 2018, Breitbart News reported that over 1,000 people had been shot in gun-controlled Chicago year-to-date. Thirty-eight individuals were shot, eight fatally, over Memorial Day Weekend alone, yet the left’s solution to the failure of gun control has been to push for more gun control.

At least 12 rockets launched from Gaza after army strikes Hamas cell’s car
[IsraelTimes] Sirens wail in Gazoo periphery, Iron Dome intercepts 3 projectiles; IDF says it struck operatives involved in flying incendiary devices into Israel, Paleostinians report none hurt

Rocket sirens blared multiples times in the communities surrounding The Gazoo Strip Tuesday night, after the Israeli military struck a Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", vehicle in the center of the enclave.

The military said at least 12 rockets were launched at Israel. Alarms rang out over a dozen times in the town of Sderot as well as the Sha’ar Hanegev and Hof Ashkelon regional councils.. Three rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. There were no reports of casualties or damage in Israel.

The rocket launches came after Paleostinians reported a car carrying Hamas operatives had went kaboom! shortly after 1 a.m. The military confirmed several hours later that aircraft and a tank had fired on the vehicle, which the army said was carrying a cell of Hamas operatives involved in flying incendiary devices into Israel.

The military said it also struck two Hamas outposts in the north of the Strip.

Paleostinians said a vehicle carrying one of the terror group’s field commanders, was hit in the Israeli strike in Gazoo’s Nuseirat refugee camp. There were apparently no casualties.

"Bombings will be answered by bombings," Hamas said after the exchanges.

Earlier Tuesday Paleostinians said Israeli drones destroyed two cars and an observation post in Gazoo that were being used by a group of Paleostinians to launch incendiary balloons into southern Israel. The military confirmed that its aircraft conducted three strikes in response to repeated arson attacks from the Paleostinian coastal enclave.

No Paleostinian injuries were reported.

The IDF conducted similar Arclight airstrikes on Sunday, firing at groups of Gazooks launching incendiary kites and balloons into southern Israel. In one case, three people were maimed as an IDF drone fired a missile at a cart being used by the group, according to local Paleostinian media.

A number of small fires were reported in southern Israel throughout the day on Tuesday, apparently sparked by incendiary kites and balloons from the Strip. As of 9 p.m., all the fires had been extinguished, according to officials from the Sha’ar Hanegev and Eshkol regional councils.

On Monday, a total of 11 fires broke out in southern Israel that were caused by these airborne arson devices, according to local government officials. The 11 fires were put out quickly before they could spread, spokespeople for the regions said.

Afghanistan
USFOR-A reject reports of civilian deaths in Nuristan drone strike
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The US Forces in Afghanistan rejected the reports suggesting that a dronezap in eastern Nuristan province has left at least eleven people dead, including six civilians.

Lt. Col. Martin O’Donnell, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan front man, said "U.S. forces did not conduct a strike in Nuristan province on Monday night. We have, however, received reports of turban-caused civilian casualties in two separate turban attacks in eastern Afghanistan, Monday ‐ a mortar attack on a medical clinic in Andar district, Ghazni province that killed a pharmacist and injured clinic staff, and a suicide kaboom that targeted a gathering of local police and civilians in Sawkai (Chawkay) district, Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
, killing and injuring an unknown number of both. These deplorable acts by the enemies of Afghanistan further demonstrate their disregard for the Afghan people, whose calls for peace and an extension to the cease-fire were rejected yesterday by the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
This comes as provincial governor Hafiz Abdul Qayum had earlier told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that the US forces in Afghanistan conducted an Arclight airstrike using unmanned aerial vehicles in Waygal district.

Qayum further added that the airstrike targeted a house where a number of Talibs and local residents had gathered to visit a Taliban group member who was maimed in a separate attack.

According to Qayum, at least six civilians and five Taliban bully boyz were killed in the Monday night airstrike in Waygal district.

Syrian Army seizes 6 terrorist tanks in southwest Syria
[EN.ABNA24] The Syrian Army launched an imperative assault to capture strategic town of Busra al-Harir in southwest Syria.

The Syrian Army would seize the town after a short battle with the gunnies of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham

Following the capture of Busra al-Harir, the Syrian Army’s Forces confiscated six tanks, two BMP-1s, and two technical vehicles that were used by the gunnies in previous battles.

The Syrian Army’s T-90 tanks played an imperative role in the capture of Busra al-Harir, as the majority of the battle was fought at night.

The Russian-made T-90 tank is equipped with night vision, which played a very important role in the battle.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
First major town in southwest Syria seized by Army
[EN.ABNA24] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has seized their first major town in southwest Syria after launching a powerful attack last night.

Led by their elite Tiger Forces, the Syrian military managed to crack the lines of the jihadist rebels last night after surprising them with an attack on the northeastern and western flanks of Busra al-Harir.

With their first line of defense fractured, the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
(jihadist) rebels were forced to retreat from the town in order to avoid being overrun by the Syrian Arab Army and their allies.

The Tiger Forces are now claiming that they are fully in control of Busra al-Harir, which is the first major town that they have captured during their southwest Syria offensive.

Busra al-Harir is important for several reasons: 1) it is located directly east of the government stronghold of Izra’a 2) it is located along Izra’a-Sweida Highway 3) it is the gateway to the strategic town of al-Hirak.

With Busra al-Harir under their control, the Syrian Army will now turn their attention to the large town of al-Hirak, which is directly south of the al-Lajat region.

Iraqi PM says armed groups in Iraq should be disarmed, including PKK
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has renewed his call to exclude the possession of arms to the state.

Speaking during his weekly press briefing on Tuesday, Abadi said his government “demands to disarm armed groups on Iraqi soil, especially the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

Turkish forces regularly PKK locations in Iraq. Ankara and several world countries label PKK a terrorist group. Both sides fought a bloody war for decades. Baghdad had always said it opposes the use of its territories to launch attacks on neighboring countries.

He revealed that his cabinet has discussed enhancing control over the borders with Turkey and Iran

The prime minister said “terrorist actions are being publicized to weaken the country”, labelling them “an escalation against the electoral process”.

Abadi was referring to a recent video purports to show Islamic State militants threatening to behead some kidnapped civilians if Iraqi authorities do not release female detainees linked with the militant group.

Abadi had repeatedly urged to limit arms possession to the state. Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces have fought IS alongside the government and won government recognition late 2016, but Abadi had hinted to some unruly factions within the force.

Egypt's Court of Cassation endorses final death sentences for 2 defendants in terror case
[AlAhram] In a separate verdict, it endorsed prison sentences for 30 others who had appealed terror convictions

Egypt's Court of Cassation has endorsed final death sentences for two defendants in a terrorism-related case, as well as 10-to 15-year sentences for 30 others in a similar case.

The first case involved 16 defendants whose appeal against a lower court verdict had been rejected by the Court of Cassation.

They were convicted of joining the Moslem Brüderbund group, designated a terrorist organization, and forming a terrorist cell in the Imbaba neighbourhood of Greater Cairo, as well as being involved in violent incidents.

The second case included 16 defendants who were accused of similar terrorism charges in Beni Suef governorate.

In a separate decision, Cairo Criminal Court has added 187 names to the country's terror list.

The added names included Hamza Zobaa, a former Brotherhood front man, and Mohammed Nasser, a pro-Brotherhood host at al-Sharq channel which broadcasts from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire....
It also included Wagdy Ghoneim, an Lion of Islam Moslem preacher tied to the Brotherhood, who is believed to be residing in Turkey.

Under the country’s anti-terrorism law, any person placed on the terror list is subject to a travel ban and has their assets frozen.

The list contains over 1,600 names, including top Brotherhood leaders.

The Moslem Brüderbund was designated a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government in November 2013.

Filthy canopies and mussed my hair: The Funny Trump is back
[AMERICANTHINKER] Definitely read the AT article. It got me thinkin'...

There I wuz, looking over the list of Publican presidential hopefuls. There were seventeen of them. Jeb! was one of them. Lindsey Graham was one. Carly Fiorina was one. Whatsisname, the governor of Ohio, who used to be a Publican, was one. Successful governors like Scott Walker and Rick Perry were there. There was a brain surgeon, fergoodnessake. They couldn't fit them all at one table. They had to argue in shifts.

Trump, we were informed, had no chance, zip. He was a clown, way out of his league. He was doing it all for publicity. He mercilessly ripped his opponents apart or scared them off, one by one.

He won.

Then he went up against the Clinton machine, which was the political equivalent of going up against Guderian's divisions. Hollywood came out in a grease-painted and condescending crowd against him. His name was redone as Literally D.T. Hitler. He was racist, sexist, misogynist, he didn't wash behind his ears, he had little hands, wore a wig, he was orange, and his feet stank.

Hillarity had a monotone speaking style, that would end in kind of a querulous yell on the last three words (listen to one of her speeches if you don't believe me). Literally D.T. has a sense of humor. He was gonna Make America Great Again.

He told jokes. He made wisecracks. He needled his opponent to keep her off balance (look at the pictures of her falling, fainting, or staggering!) He told his audiences they were great, wonderful, unbelievable. We (not he) were gonna do great things together. Hillarity described his audience as Deplorables, which title they adopted, to The Donald's glee. The Dems sent goon squads to his rallies, trying to start riots. The press dismissed Trump and his Deplorables as nothing but uneducated (gasp!) White People®. He walked all over Hillarity in each debate. He ended one of them by promising to see her behind bars.

Yep. He won.

He was inaugurated. Within minutes (it may actually have been before the inauguration, I'm not sure) there were calls for his impeachment. He fixed the Obama economy, seemingly within twenty four hours. Dems howled at the moon and sicced Antifa on an unsympathetic nation. He signed executive orders repealing B.O.'s executive orders. He upended fixtures like NAFTA and the TTP. The Dems pushed for an Independent Counsel because there was no way he could have won without Russian collusion to hack the voting machines and to publicize the shady dealings of the Hillarity campaign, the DNC, the Clinton Foundation, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the whole damned crowd. Some dumbass (I think it was in the NY Times) wrote an op ed about how once Literally D.T. was impeached, through an improbable series of circumstances the nation and the world could have Hillarity as Madame President.

November 4th came and went last year without Antifa rising in its wrath and deposing Trump. Trump put Scott Pruitt in to rein in the EPA. The Dems tore down statues of Confederate generals and called for Stone Mountain, Georgia, to be sand blasted. The unemployment rate -- across the board, white, black, Latino, and Athabaskan -- dropped to its lowest point since the last Whig administration. The Dems accuse Trump of ripping four-year-olds from their mothers' arms and eating them on the spot.

A volcano erupted in Hawaii and that's Trump's fault too. NASA's making plans in case we're threatened by falling asteroids instead of prioritizing Moslem outreach. Mobs of Democrats chase down Publicans and holler at them when they're trying to eat enchiladas.

Maybe it's just me, but I think I can understand why Trump has a senzayuma. Without it, he'd be overwhelmed.

Europe
Spain's socialist government reverses policy and refuses 'migrant' ship
Oh? Fascinating.
[AMERICANTHINKER] The reign in Spain of virtue-signaling on mass migration ended abruptly yesterday, after less than two weeks. Even the socialists in Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
are starting to realize that their populace does not want millions more impoverished "migrants colonists" from cultures and religions that shun assimilation and consider generous welfare subsidies as tribute from the infidels, a signal of weakness and submission. Dramatic evidence is provided by Spain, which just this month installed the secretary-general of the Spanish Socialist Workers' party, Pedro Sánchez, as prime minister.

When Italia's new populist government refused to allow the M.S. Aquarius, jammed with 629 North Africans, to land, and turned it away, Spain stepped up and allowed the refugees entry to Spain and, because of the Schengen Agreement that ended border barriers, the entire E.U.

In a statement the country's new prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, said he had given permission for the MS Aquarius to dock in Valencia, adding his country would welcome all those on board.

Sanchez went on say that "It is our duty to help avoid a humanitarian catastrophe and offer a safe harbour to these people in accordance with international law."

Home Front: Politix
Trump calls Maxine Waters the new 'face of the Democrats'
[POLITICO] President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
declared on Tuesday that Rep. Maxine Waters
U.S. Representative for California's 43rd congressional district, serving since 1991, a total of 26.56988043666185 years. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the most senior of the 12 black women currently serving in the United States Congress, is a member and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before becoming a member of Congress she served in the California Assembly, to which she was first elected back when Disco was in flower, in 1976, which would make it 41.56782704860319 years. She has been a politician for virtually all her adult life. If she was brighter she'd be a Communist...
'>Comrade Maxine Waters is now "the face of the Democrats," pushing forward a budding feud with the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, congresswoman who last weekend urged opponents of the president to protest members of his Cabinet wherever they encounter them.

Trump appeared eager to tie Waters’ remarks to the rest of the Democratic Party, even though party leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace...
(D-Calif.), have sought to distance themselves from her comments.

"The face of the Democrats is now Comrade Maxine Waters who, together with Nancy Pelosi, have established a fine leadership team," the president wrote on Twitter on Tuesday morning. "They should always stay together and lead the Democrats, who want Open Borders and Unlimited Crime, well into the future....and pick Crooked Hillary for Pres."

Trump's social media post was the latest salvo in the back-and-forth between himself and Waters, who on Monday denied that she had encouraged anyone to "harm" Trump administration officials ‐ as the president suggested she had ‐ and accused Trump of twisting her words.

"I believe in peaceful, very peaceful protests," she told news hounds on Capitol Hill, according to CNN. "I have not called for the harm of anybody. This President has lied again when he's saying that I've called for harm."

Waters (D-Calif.) said in a speech Saturday in Los Angeles: "If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them and you tell them they're not welcome anymore, anywhere"

Those remarks drew criticism from allies of the president and prompted Trump himself to write on Twitter that Waters had "just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement."

And while the California congresswoman denied she was trying to incite violence, members of her own party appeared to distance themselves from her comments, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer
Senator-for-life from New York, renowned for his love of standing in front of cameras. Schumer has been a professional politician since 1975, when disco was in flower. Senate minority leader as of 2017.
of New York, who said Waters’ call for liberals to publicly hound Trump advisers was "not right" and "not American."

"The president's tactics and behavior should never be emulated," Schumer said in a floor speech on Monday. "It should be repudiated by organized, well-informed and passionate advocacy."

-Land of the Free
Rep. King: The Supreme Court Just Laid the Foundation for the Border Wall
[Breitbart] In one ruling, the Supreme Court has delivered two major victories to President Trump. The first victory is obvious: Trump v. Hawaii validates the President’s broad authority to restrict entry of specified foreign nationals into the United States when the President finds such entry is "detrimental to the interests of the United States."

What does this mean? It means, as I have argued, that President Trump’s "travel ban" limiting immigration from Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Chad, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen is constitutional. It means that President Trump does have the authority, despite the open-borders howls of liberals and illegal alien activists, to secure our citizens against threats posed by foreign nationals from dysfunctional states. It is a good ruling, and one that will help President Trump keep this nation safe, secure, and protected.

But Trump v. Hawaii is a decision with a less obvious meaning too. The Supreme Court has just laid the foundation for the Border Wall that the President and I want to build along the US-Mexico border. Trump v. Hawaii, in fact, provides a roadmap to "Build The Wall!"

At issue before the Supreme Court was the scope of 8 USC 1182 (f), a federal law which delegates broad authority over immigration policy to the President. Here is the text of that statute:

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

The meaning of the statute is clear, and in upholding President Trump’s "travel ban," the Supreme Court correctly interpreted it. 8 USC 1182(f), as Chief Justice Roberts writes, is a statute that "grants the President sweeping authority to decide whether to suspend entry, whose entry to suspend, and for how long."

So, it is settled law. President Trump can deny foreign nationals entry to the country. He should immediately issue a Presidential Proclamation suspending the entry of foreign nationals from Mexico, Caribbean, Central, and South American countries until such time as he finds the detrimental effects of illegal immigration from these regions have been curtailed and our border is secure. These areas are home to the violent and dysfunctional countries that export the vast majority of illegal immigrants to America.

Put these two historical actions together and what do you get? A proclamation that not only restricts the movement of illegal aliens into the United States, but also serves as a means of convincing a foreign government to take measures to deal with a policy matter that is detrimentally affecting our country.

Put these two historical actions together and what do you get? ...If it isn't concrete and rebar PDQ, it's gonna have to be troops and guns. Another judge has decided that he knows immigration policy better than the US Government, and all this does is make it worse. We're to the point now where we have one branch of Government (SCOTUS yesterday notwithstanding) actively trying to undermine the rest of us.

And I don't know if we're going to get this back under control now.

The Grand Turk
Sultan Erdogan: Invincible and Doomed
Doomed? What a lovely thought.
[American Thinker] By far the most interesting thing about Sunday's Turkish elections was the endless speculations by pundits left and right about what would happen if Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were to lose. These clueless if numerous pontificators forgot to ask themselves a simple question: when was the last time an Islamist dictator in full control of state power lost an election? Mindless as they are, these idle meditations have little to tell us about Turkey but a lot about the West's (and Europe's, especially) failure or unwillingness to understand what Erdoğan is and is all about. For NATO and the West, the inevitable harsh payment due is just around the corner.
Eviction?
In the meantime, Turkey has a new sultan who can and will do whatever he seemingly wants – except that the time of sultans is long past, and this one is preprogrammed for failure.

In the old Ottoman days, upon the anointment of the new sultan, all male pretenders were dispatched with a silken cord. Now they are simply put in jail as "terrorists." In the old days, all the sultan had to do was run to the largely ignorant ulema to be told why introducing the printing press is a great sacrilege, but it took centuries for the empire to become the "sick man of Europe" and a technological and military anachronism. Today, the sultan is forced to dispatch his flunkies to the captains of finance in London to explain why raising the despised interest rates sharply will calm the markets and to plead for continued funds flow.

Iraq
Mosul clearance continues: 2 secret turbans tied up, Baghdadi’s mosque to be repaired

Two Iraqi employees arrested over links with Islamic State in Mosul

Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) – Federal police forces in Iraq arrested on Tuesday two employees believed to have links with militant group Islamic State in Mosul city.

“Two employees, including an electric engineer, believed to be members of Islamic State were arrested Monday while on duty at a power plant at Qayyarah district in southern Mosul city,” a police officer told Shafaq News website.

“The arrest was made pursuant to article no. 4 of the anti-terrorism law,” the officer said.

Reconstruction of Mosul’s leaning minaret, mosque to start next week

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The reconstruction work at the Grand Nuri al-Kabeer mosque in Mosul will take place next week, after almost a year of its destruction during liberation battles against Islamic State to free the city.

The semi-official Al-Sabah newspaper quoted Bashar al-Kiki, head of Nineveh provincial council, as saying that “the reconstruction of the Nuri al-Kabeer mosque, which is famous for its leaning minaret, is scheduled to start next week after Emirates has donated sum of USD 50 million.”

According to Kiki, the previous period of time saw “the agreement with UNESCO, with support from Emirates and mediation from France to reconstruct the leaning minaret and the mosque in addition to building a museum, to be affiliated to the mosque, and renovating the nearby houses.”

The project “could take up to three years,” he added.

In April, the Iraqi Ministry of Culture indicated a partnership with each of UAE, UNESCO and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) to launch a project on the reconstruction of the mosque and its leaning minaret in Mosul’s Old City.

The medieval structure was blown up by Islamic State members in June as Iraqi forces became closer to the recapture of Mosul, which sparked condemnation from world heritage agencies.

It was from that mosque when The group’s supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi made his first appearance in a video him making the sermon proclaiming the establishment of an Islamist “caliphate” in the Old City’s Grand Nuri Mosque in June 2014, and never showed up again.

Tehran prosecutor warns against US Plot to provoke ‘civil disobedience’ in Iran
[EN.ABNA24] The prosecutor general of Tehran highlighted the US government’s never-ending hostility toward the land of the Medes and the Persians and said Washington is plotting to provoke unrest and "civil disobedience" in the Islamic Theocratic Republic through economic pressures against the country.

"They (the US officials) want to create fear in the hearts of the (Iranian) people by a psychological war and increase economic pressure through... imposing sanctions against banks," Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi said during a meeting with a number of Iranian judges in Tehran on Sunday.

In order to reach its goal, the US has had talks with high-ranking officials of a number of countries, he added.

Dowlatabadi further pointed to peaceful protests in Tehran over price hikes and said, "The enemy wants to portray the public demands as civil disobedience..."

The prosecutor also called on the country’s officials and ordinary people to exercise vigilance against the US plots so that the people’s "legitimate demands" would not turn into civil disobedience.

The remarks came as protesters in Tehran reportedly swarmed the capital’s historic Grand Bazaar on Monday and forced shopkeepers to close their stalls, months after similar demonstrations rocked the country.

The protests erupted after the Iranian rial dropped to 90,000 to the US dollar on the country's black market, despite government attempts to control the currency rate.

During late December and early January, peaceful protests over rising prices and economic problems broke out in some Iranian cities, but the unauthorized gatherings turned violent after a number of opportunists, some of them armed, vandalized public property and launched attacks on cop shoppes and government buildings.

Iranian security officials say they have hard evidence that the protests were directed from abroad.

They say many rioters tossed in the slammer

Great White North
Canadian government welcomes back ISIS militants
In which Pretty Boy Trudeau makes everyone else pay for his bright ideas.
[EN.ABNA24] Around 190 Canadians have left their country to fight for the self-proclaimed Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
and other terrorist groups. And they might receive a warm welcome if they get homesick. According to documents obtained by Global News in May, the administration of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau believes these faceless myrmidons have a "right to return" to Canada.

A brief prepared for Canadian Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale reveals that not only does the Trudeau administration believe these faceless myrmidons have a "right to return," but the government believes it must facilitate their re-assimilation into Canadian society. The brief asserts that while returnees may have broken laws by participating in international terrorism, they "may now be disillusioned with the cause" and no longer pose a threat to society. The document also maintains that because they may lack evidence to bring charges against defectors, the government must "mitigate the threat through efforts outside the justice system."

Enter the Orwellian-sounding "High Risk Returnee Interdepartmental Task Force."

This multidepartment bureaucratic behemoth partners with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in an aggressive campaign to "support" and "open up dialogue" with returning faceless myrmidons and their families. Approximately 60 faceless myrmidons have already returned to Canada, in addition to the 190 still fighting abroad in places like Syria and Iraq.

Trudeau was criticized for his stance on the issue when he recently compared the return of ISIS operatives to the settlement of Italian families in Montreal after World War ii. It was recently revealed that his government also altered intelligence documents that warned of the chemical weapons threat posed by returning ISIS members.

Trudeau’s administration believes it is important to devote significant time, money and political capital to coddle admittedly "high-risk" takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
(jihadists) who have declared war on Western values (including liberalism), to compare them to post-war Italian families, to censor intelligence documents, to attract inevitable controversy, and to subject his fellow Canadians to whatever these Islamic forces of Evil might choose to do to them‐instead of just allowing the normal procedure of arresting, trying and punishing deadly international faceless myrmidons to proceed. This appears to be worth it for Trudeau to gain credibility as a progressive who will stop at almost nothing.

Africa North
Algeria strands 13,000 migrants in the scorching Sahara
[DAWN] Algeria’s mass expulsions have picked up since October 2017, as the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
renewed pressure on North African countries to head off migrants colonists going north to Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
via the Mediterranean Sea or the barrier fences with Spain. These migrants colonists from across sub-Saharan Africa ‐ Mali, the Gambia
... The Gambia is actually surrounded by Senegal on all sides but its west coast. It has a population of about 1.7 million. The difference between the two is that in colonial days Senegal was ruled by La Belle France and The Gambia (so-called because there's only one of it, unlike Guinea, of which there are the Republic of Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, New Guinea, the English coin in circulation between 1663 and 1813, and Guyana, which sounds like it should be another one) was ruled by Britain...
, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Niger and more ‐ are part of the mass migration toward Europe, some fleeing violence, others just hoping to make a living.

A European Union spokesperson said the EU was aware of what Algeria was doing, but that "sovereign countries" can expel migrants colonists as long as they comply with international law. Unlike Niger, Algeria takes none of the EU money intended to help with the migration crisis, although it did receive $111.3 million in aid from Europe between 2014 and 2017.

Algeria provides no figures for the expulsions. But the number of people crossing on foot to Niger has been rising steadily since the International Organization for Migration (IOM) started counting in May 2017, when 135 people were dropped at the crossing, to as high as 2,888 in April 2018. In all, according to the IOM, a total of 11,276 men, women and kiddies survived the march.

At least another 2,500 were forced on a similar trek this year through the Sahara into neighboring Mali, with an unknown number succumbing along the way.

The migrants colonists the AP talked to described being rounded up hundreds at a time, crammed into open trucks headed southward for six to eight hours to what is known as Point Zero, then dropped in the desert and pointed in the direction of Niger. They are told to walk, sometimes at gunpoint. In early June, 217 men, women and kiddies were dropped well before reaching Point Zero, fully 30 kilometers (18 miles) from the nearest source of water, according to the IOM.

Within seconds of setting foot on the sand, the heat pierces even the thickest shoes. Sweat dries upon the first touch of air, providing little relief from the beating sun overhead. Each inhalation is like breathing in an oven.

But there is no turning back.

"There were people who couldn’t take it. They sat down and we left them. They were suffering too much," said Aliou Kande, an 18-year-old from Senegal
... a nation of about 14 million on the west coast of Africa bordering Mauretania to the north, Mali to the east, and a pair of Guineas to the south, one of them Bissau. It is 90 percent Mohammedan and has more than 80 political parties. Its primary purpose seems to be absorbing refugees...
Kande said nearly a dozen people simply gave up, collapsing in the sand. His group of 1,000 got lost and wandered from 8 am until 7 pm, he said. He never saw the missing people again. The word he returned to, over and over, was "suffering".

Kande said the Algerian police stole everything he had earned when he was first detained ‐ 40,000 dinars ($340) and a Samsung cellphone.

"They tossed us into the desert, without our telephones, without money. I couldn’t even describe it to you," he said, still livid at the memory.

are facing a murky future, according to a local paramilitary commander from the religious ethnicity.

Murad Sheikh Kalu, a commander of the Yazidi mobilization force, told Almaalomah website on Tuesday that "most of Yazidi women kidnapped and raped by Islamic State turbans gave birth to babies after their release".

"Those children are in hundreds, and are of unknown parentage, they are facing an unknown fate, which is a great danger|, Kalu said.

"While some of them are held by their mothers, others are being shifted among camps and orphanages," he revealed.

He urged the Iraqi government to "take urgent measures to contain those children, legalize their conditions and embrace them instead of leaving them to the street," as he put it.

Islamic State massacred and enslaved thousands of Yazidis, among other Iraqis, when they overran a third of Iraq in 2014.

According to the United Nations

Israel Strikes 'Hizbullah' Arms Depot near Damascus Airport
[AnNahar] Syrian state media said early Tuesday that two Israeli missiles struck near Damascus International Airport, without adding any details.

In a report in the early hours of Tuesday, Syria's state news agency said "two Israeli missiles came down near Damascus international airport".

The head of monitoring group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman, also told AFP that "the Israeli missiles hit arms depots for Hizbullah

He said the air strike took place at 1:00 am local time "without causing huge kabooms" even though they hit the weapons stores.

The observatory added that the Syrian air defence "failed to intercept the missiles".
The Jerusalem Post adds:
Unconfirmed local reports stated that missiles also targeted an Iranian cargo plane that had been unloading at the airport.

Gander, NF Canada gets another June snowstorm June 26
[WashingtonPost] The city of Gander in Newfoundland woke up to several inches of snow Tuesday
[26 June]
despite the calendar confirming that July was just four days away.

"I got up and I looked out to the window, and I felt like going back to bed again, really," John Lushman said in an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. "The truck was there with four, five inches of snow all over, and the patio has three or four inches all over the patio, and the driveway has four or five inches..."

According to Rodney Barney, a meteorologist at Environment Canada, Gander reported 2 centimeters
[different from the Lushman report but Gander is hilly and elevation differences in snow accumulation are common]
of snow at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, which was a record for accumulating snow so late in the season. The previous record was June 14, 1976. Snow depth records date back from 1955, according to Barney.

Britain
Leader of UK labour party to recognize Palestinian state if elected
[EN.ABNA24] Leader of the UK labour party, Jeremy Corbyn, visited al-Baqa’a refugee camp on Saturday, home to 100,000 Paleostinian refugees, in a tour that also included Jordan’s mostly Syrian Zaatari camp, to mark UN world refugee day.

He had previously tweeted that: "The next Labour government will recognise Paleostine, as a state, as one step towards a genuine two-state solution to the Israel-Paleostine conflict."

He further clarified his position in an interview with al-Jazeera, according to the PNN, affirming that: "The Paleostinian people’s rights must be met, and that means an end to the occupation, the settlement policy, and the siege of Gazoo, as well as recognizing the right to return." He also criticized the Trump administration’s decision to reduce aid to UNRWA (United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Relief and Works Agency for Paleostinian Refugees) by over 50 percent.

This marks a change from traditional British government policy, especially under the last two conservative governments, who have generally been more pro-Israel.

Corbyn has consistently shown some support for the Paleostinian cause. In April, he attacked ’Western silence’ over the killings in Gazoo and many hope that his election could lead to a more pro-Paleostine, or at least less pro-Israeli foreign policy.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
there are also fears that a smear campaign by the pro-Israel lobby, accusing many critics of Israel of anti-Semitism could push Corbyn and Labour members to be less vocal on the issue.

Bloomberg considering run for president as a Democrat
[NYPost] Mike Bloomberg is mulling another run for president ‐ but as a Democrat, sources close to the former three-term mayor said.
No surprise there
If he takes the plunge, Bloomberg would be 78 when he's competing in Democratic primaries across the nation.

Last week, he said he would pump $80 million of his vast personal fortune to aid Democrats in the congressional midterm elections this year.

"That's an indication of where his head is at," a Bloomberg insider said Tuesday.

Bloomberg himself hinted at his thinking on June 6, when he was honored at a YMCA fundraiser at Cipriani 42nd Street.

At the end of his speech Bloomberg told the 500 guests, "Before you leave I want to get your cellphone number because I'm thinking of getting the band back together," said one source.

The well-heeled attendees erupted into thunderous applause, believing Bloomberg was telegraphing his interest in taking on President Donald Trump.

C-5 Galaxy: 50 years of history, thousands of jobs for Marietta
[CMGdigital] The C-5 Galaxy embarked on its first flight for the U.S. Air Force in June 1968. Fifty years later, Gov. Nathan Deal called it the "ambassador of the skies" – and an economic development coup for Georgia.

The massive cargo-hauling plane, which dwarfed others on the runways outside the Lockheed Martin plant, was designed in Marietta to carry tanks, helicopters and other weighty equipment as far as 8,000 miles.

In a tribute to one of the world's largest aircraft – it can carry a whopping 125,000 pounds – the celebration Tuesday emphasized the aircraft's military contribution and its economic one.

The plant employs more than 5,000 people with a $700 million annual economic impact that has helped transform the region's economy. At its height, the company had more than 30,000 building C-5 aircraft in the 1960s.

"You have made Marietta and the entire state of Georgia the envy of much of the world, and within our state, the envy of much of the state of Georgia," Deal said.

The towering airplane has a storied history. It has participated in high-profile missions in Argentina, Iraq and Israel.

The C-5 Galaxy isn't going anywhere soon. The Air Force partnered with Lockheed Martin in 2006 to retool the aircraft with a goal of extending its life. The final stage of that project will wrap up in 2018, and military officials said its shelf life should last until 2045.

"These boys," Deal said, "they last a long time."

Israeli occupation of Arab land cause of Mideast woes: Syrian Ambassador
[EN.ABNA24] Syria’s Ambassador to the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
(UN) Bashar al-Jaafari has stressed that the main reason behind the conflicts in the Middle East is the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, including Syria’s Golan Heights.

Speaking during a UN Security Council session on Monday, Jaafari said, "Syria believes that the cause of the conflicts in the Middle East has been and continues to be the Israeli occupation of Arab territories, including Syria’s occupied Golan."

He warned that any attempt to create new crises in order to save the Israeli entity via the liquidation of the Paleostinian cause would further increase tensions and escalate threats to international peace and security.

"Some governments still politicize the humanitarian file in Syria," he said elsewhere in his remarks, adding that those countries, which he did not name, "falsify information, fabricate evidence, and manipulate reports on the use of chemical weapon in Syria."

"The Syrian government has never [used] and will not use any toxic chemical weapons, which it originally doesn’t possess after eliminating them on board US ships in the Mediterranean Sea," Jaafari stressed.

Britain
Delingpole: ‘Pillocks! Dozens of ‘Em!' – Snowflakes Try to Ban Screening of Zulu
[Breitbart London] A tiny bunch of left-wing loons with no lives, shrivelled penises, and the collective IQ of a pickled herring is trying to ban a screening of the classic 60s movie Zulu at an armed forces fund-raising event in Kent.

Before I go on can I absolutely stress that while it has been widely reported ‐ eg here and here ‐ this is NOT a news story? The only reason I am writing about it is because it’s an excuse to say what a marvellous film Zulu is: one of those character-building experiences that every boy should have on his route to manhood.

It teaches the important virtue of keeping a stiff upper lip even as your small, thinly-manned outpost is surrounded by Zulus ‐ farsands of ’em ‐ and you are in grave danger of being disembowelled by one of their fearsome assegais. You learn that if you keep your head, suppress your urge to flee and stand with your comrades you may yet prevail, just like the 150 or so British and colonial troops did at the Battle of Rorke’s Drift in 1879 when they successfully held out against a vastly superior of perhaps 3,000 Zulus whose spears were still bloody from the 1,300 imperial troops they’d helped slaughter the day before at Isandlwana.

It’s also the film where Michael Caine really established himself as one of the greats, playing against type as an upper class English officer (Lt Gonville Bromhead). Plus Stanley Baker and sundry other fine actors are in it. It has a fine score by John Barry. And the Zulu king Cetshwayo is famously played by his great grandson chief Buthelezi.

Thus on the banned list on most American college and university campuses as toxic masculinity (along with Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, Gettysburg, and The Crossing). Can't let anyone know who in the end pays in blood, mind and body for the unique historical experience of peace, prosperity and opportunity that so many take for granted as though it was something fundamentally natural rather than so incredibly unnatural.

#10  Actually the film gives honor to the Zulu warriors as well. That's the concept the PC crowd never grasps. Whether its the Cleveland Indians or Washington Redskins, its an acknowledgement of honor to their warrior heritage, the courage and strength in the fight. One of the last shots of the movie is the Zulus acknowledging fellow warriors defending the Drift, someone worthy of their salute.

*puts on serious face*
Among the best movies ever made. Glad the score was mentioned. The Zulu were given much honor in this movie; tons more than most adversaries at the time and even now. They were shown to human, have their own love ambitions and motivations, and even if a viewer didn't know history, that they just whomped the British.

The score builds the danger, the acting builds the characters, all tied in with some darn good camera work.

Just a serious of great scenes running one after another. Preacher, when the wagons get tipped. Bugle player not having any spit. The defense of the barracks after catching fire. Ooops, forgot to latch the corral.

Maryland primary again puts Democratic divisions on display
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The post-2016 trench warfare between the liberal and establishment wings of the Democratic Party flares up again in Maryland on Tuesday, when voters pick the party’s standard-bearer to take on popular Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican.

Former NAACP leader Ben Jealous,
No! Really?
one of the front-runners in recent polls, is campaigning on a Bernard Sanders
“Bernard”??
-style platform of universal health care, free college tuition and marijuana legalization, saying the Democratic base in one of the nation’s most liberal states is ready to embrace "bold ideas" to propel him into the governor’s mansion.

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker, who supported Perennial Presidential Campaigner Hillary Crooked Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away...
in 2016, is touting his longtime experience in local and state government and warning Democratic primary voters that "pretty-sounding words" won’t amount to much if a candidate doesn’t follow through with action.

Mr. Jealous and Mr. Baker have separated themselves in polling from the other six candidates vying for the nomination to take on Mr. Hogan, though there are also a good number of voters who were still undecided heading into Tuesday.

More than 220,000 ballots were cast in early voting from June 14 to June 21. And in a potentially major snag to Tuesday’s proceedings, the state announced Monday that some 80,000 voters may have to cast provisional ballots because some address and party changes weren’t properly recorded ‐ about four times what state officials had originally estimated over the weekend.

China-Japan-Koreas
China's Trade War Pain
My brother in the Philippines sent me snippets from the article. I'm not sure how he got behind the WSJ pay wall. I don't think he can afford a subscription.
[WSJ] SHANGHAI‐China’s main stock benchmark has entered a bear market, the latest gloomy sign for the country alongside escalating trade tensions with the U.S., a tumbling currency and recent data that suggest its growth is softening.

The Shanghai bourse is dominated by China's largest state-owned companies, such as banks, energy companies and airlines. Among its biggest losers this year are steelmakers such as Maanshan Iron & Steel, down 10.7%, and brokerages such as Huatai Securities, down 16.1%.

Declines in the $4.9 trillion Shanghai market quickened a week ago, when the index plunged 3.8%, its worst day since Feb. 9 when Chinese stocks were caught up in a world-wide selloff.

A year-to-date fall of around 14% makes the Shanghai Composite one of the world's worst-performing large stock indexes. By comparison, the S&P 500 is up slightly for the year, while both the MSCI All-Country Asia Pacific and Stoxx Europe 600 indexes are down about 3%.

Chinese stocks have been hit harder by escalating trade tensions than U.S. markets during the past week, as investors have become more nervous that mutual threats of tariffs on hundreds of billions of dollars worth of goods are more than just a negotiating tactic from both governments.
Seems like the Chinese are presently selling a lot more to the U.S. than vice-versa. Wouldn't that make their pain greater than ours? Potentially.
Analysts say the yuan's recent slide against the U.S. dollar has dampened overseas investors' interest in China's markets in recent weeks. The Chinese currency is down 0.6% against the greenback in 2018.
Look for the MSM to pick this up as soon as there is a (D) elected, who they can credit for this good news.

Europe
'We will NOT lose control of our borders': Austria stages dramatic anti-migrant exercise
[Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Austria today staged a dramatic border protection exercise as it prepares to assume the EU presidency and push for hardline immigration measures as the bloc is gripped by increasingly bitter divisions over the migrant crisis.

Austrian leader Sebastian Kurz will assume the EU's rotating presidency on July 1 and has vowed to make migrants colonists claim asylum before entering the bloc.

That policy echoes the position of Italia, which has started turning away migrant vessels and proposed setting up processing centres in Libya and other countries of origin.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslems ..
is also locked in a struggle with her hardline government coalition partners that threatens to topple her government, and a summit between EU leaders on Sunday made little progress on tackling the crisis.

Meanwhile,
...back at the dirigible, the gondola was dangling by a single thread of rope.

Jack! Cynthia cried. I just realized I'm afraid of heights! I don't even like high heels!...

Spain's willingness to accept migrants colonists appeared to be wavering today after prime minister Pedro Sanchez said there needed to be a 'common answer' from 'various countries' in the EU.

It comes after the country's economic development minister, Jose Luis Abalos, said yesterday that Spain would not offer docking to the NGO boat Lifeline, which is carrying 230 migrants colonists, explaining that his country will not 'become the sea rescue organization for all of Europe.'

Kurz fears if Germany unilaterally closes its southern border then other EU nations will follow suit.

Today heavily armed coppers - wearing helmets and body armour while carrying riot shields - were on display to show Germany that Austria is willing to shut its own borders if Merkel's interior minister follows through with his threat to close the Bavarian frontier.

Thousands of migrants colonists poured through Europe's open borders daily three years ago, triggering a humanitarian and political crisis that has left deep divisions on the continent.
