North Korea 'executes four officials by firing squad' after failed summit with US
[Mirror - UK] North Korea executed four officials from its foreign ministry after Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump's latest summit failed, a new report has claimed.

The officials are said to have been killed by a firing squad in Pyongyang earlier this month after Kim and Trump's talks in Vietnam broke off without a deal.

A Japanese press agency reported that the rumours were spreading through the secretive country after it spoke to a trade official who recently visited North Korea and a source inside the hermit state.

According to the report, North Korea had accused the four officials of selling information to the US before the Hanoi summit, causing it to fail.

The four who were shot dead, according to the rumour, are said to include a diplomat from North Korea's embassy in Hanoi.

However, Japan's Asia Press, which reported the information on Wednesday along with South Korean media, said the claims of the apparent executions have not been verified.

The verification of claims out of North Korea is very difficult given the country's secrecy and that its media is controlled by the state. Communication with the outside world is highly restricted, and the punishment for anyone caught sharing information can be severe.

There are also reports that Kim has given his sister a demotion and removed his right-hand man following the failed summit.
But she was the Darling O' The Olympics™, so impish and cheery?

Mark Steyn: Don't Mention the Jihad
h/t Instapundit
[SteynOnline] As I wrote yesterday, I think media coverage of the Sri Lankan Easter massacre marked a further descent on a ever slipperier slope. But it's worth noting that we're where we are today because of trends set in motion back when this thing got going. Less than three months after 9/11 - December 1st 2001 - I published the following piece in The Spectator. In the ensuing eighteen years, every fatuous Islamoschmoozing tic of western politicians has expanded beyond parody:

Missed It By That Much: Hillary Clinton Almost Wins 'Wheel Of Fortune' But Then Shouts 'Easter Worshiper' Instead Of 'Christian'
[Babylon Bee] Some people think Hillary Clinton is robotic and hard to sympathize with, but even our hearts went out to her on this one.

On a special politicians' episode of Wheel of Fortune, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton nearly took home the grand prize. She was on the last puzzle of the regular rounds of the game, which read, CHRISTI_N. The audience began to cheer as it appeared Clinton had finally won something.
*snicker*
But, as is usual for Clinton, she snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, and shouted "Easter worshiper!" instead of the obvious answer, which was "Christian."

Heartbreaker!

Clinton has demanded an appeal, claiming that although she lost fair and square, she feels like she won, as Christians are kinda Easter worshipers, even though no one ever says that.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
This week at the South Rim
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) ‐ Another visitor to Grand Canyon National Park has died after falling over the edge of the South Rim, authorities said Tuesday.

A 70-year-old woman fell about 200 feet (61 meters) over the rim, the second over-the-edge death this month within the confines of the park, according to Grand Canyon officials.

The woman had been walking about 200 to 300 feet (61 to 91 meters) off a trail along the South Rim about a mile (1.6 kilometers) east of Mather Point. Park rangers got a call just after 1 p.m. that she needed help west of a popular overlook called Pipe Creek Vista.

"She fell before we could undertake a rescue," said Grand Canyon spokesman John Quinley, adding that the circumstances of the call for help were unclear.

Quinley said the woman fell between Mather Point and the starting point for the South Kaibab Trail, two well-known and highly visited places at the park’s more popular South Rim.

#2  I've hiked that area. Lots of loose rock near the canyon edge. You're walking on eroding rock structure.

I always carry a 50-ft length of para-cord, clamps and assorted crevice grips if I'm photographing near or over a canyon edge. I do tie myself off and connect to a carabiner on my heavy mesh belt, plus crawl on my belly to reach the edge.

Not OSHA, but it's kept me from going over more than once.

Thoughts from a hipster coffee shop
[Alpha News] I’m sitting in a small coffee shop near Nokomis trying to think of what to write about. I scroll through my newsfeed on my phone looking at the latest headlines of Democratic candidates calling for policies to "fix" the so-called injustices of capitalism. I put my phone down and continue to look around. I see people talking freely, working on their MacBook’s, ordering food they get in an instant, seeing cars go by outside, and it dawned on me. We live in the most privileged time in the most prosperous nation and we’ve become completely blind to it. Vehicles, food, technology, freedom to associate with whom we choose. These things are so ingrained in our American way of life we don’t give them a second thought. We are so well off here in the United States that our poverty line begins 31 times above the global average. Thirty. One. Times. Virtually no one in the United States is considered poor by global standards. Yet, in a time where we can order a product off Amazon with one click and have it at our doorstep the next day, we are unappreciative, unsatisfied, and ungrateful.

Our unappreciation is evident as the popularity of socialist policies among my generation continues to grow. Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said to Newsweek talking about the millennial generation, "An entire generation, which is now becoming one of the largest electorates in America, came of age and never saw American prosperity."

Never saw American prosperity. Let that sink in. When I first read that statement, I thought to myself, that was quite literally the most entitled and factually illiterate thing I’ve ever heard in my 26 years on this earth. Now, I’m not attributing Miss Ocasio-Cortez’s words to outright dishonesty. I do think she whole-heartedly believes the words she said to be true. Many young people agree with her, which is entirely misguided. My generation is being indoctrinated by a mainstream narrative to actually believe we have never seen prosperity. I know this first hand, I went to college, let’s just say I didn’t have the popular opinion, but I digress.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Former FBI Official Admits Hillary Clinton Emails Were Found in Obama White House
[PJ] A former top FBI official has admitted under oath that a repository of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email records was obtained by the Obama White House and housed in the Executive Office of the President.

Conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch recently coaxed the admission out of the former assistant director of the FBI Counterintelligence Division, Bill Priestap, as part of a court-ordered discovery regarding Clinton’s unauthorized email server.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth ruled earlier this year that discovery could commence examining Clinton’s use of the server and ordered Obama administration senior State Department officials, lawyers, and Clinton aides to be deposed or answer written questions under oath. The court said that the Clinton email system was "one of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency."
Second only to Clinton Foundation money laundering. Sorry Barack, the Foundation cannot handle that level of volume on short notice. Besides, we have no contacts in Iran. Please call Brennan. He may be able to assist.
Judicial Watch asked Priestap to identify representatives of Clinton, her former staff, and government agencies from which "email repositories were obtained" by the FBI.

In addition to the Executive Office of the President, Priestap also named "Clinton aides Cheryl Mills, Heather Samuelson, Jacob Sullivan, and Justin Cooper; former Clinton information technology staffer Bryan Pagliano, the State Department, Secret Service, and Washington-based law firm Williams and Connolly."

Saudi Arabia beheads 37 for terrorism crimes, most of them minority Shiites
See also here.
[CNBC] Saudi Arabia on Tuesday beheaded 37 Saudi citizens, most of them minority Shiites, in a mass execution across the country for alleged terrorism-related crimes. It also publicly pinned the executed body and severed head of a convicted Sunni extremist to a pole as a warning to others.
"executed body and severed head" - they would both appear to "severed" and "executed". Just sayin'....Tomayto, Tomahto
The executions were likely to stoke further regional and sectarian tensions between rivals Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Saudi dissident Ali Al-Ahmed, who runs the Gulf Institute in Washington, identified 34 of those executed as Shiites based on the names announced by the Interior Ministry.

"This is the largest mass execution of Shiites in the kingdom’s history," he said.

Amnesty International also confirmed the majority of those executed were Shiite men. The rights group said they were convicted "after sham trials" that relied on confessions extracted through torture.

It marked the largest number of executions in a single day in Saudi Arabia since Jan. 2, 2016, when the kingdom executed 47 people for terrorism-related crimes in what was the largest mass execution carried out by Saudi authorities since 1980.

Among those executed three years ago were four Shiites, including prominent Shiite cleric Nimr al-Nimr, whose death sparked protests from Pakistan to Iran and the ransacking of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. Saudi-Iran ties have not recovered and the embassy remains shuttered.

Reuters reports that as Facebook grows and spreads worldwide, the company is facing increasing issues with the moderation of content on the platform due to a large number of languages spoken by users. Currently, Facebook offers 2.3 billion users access to 111 different languages on the site’s menus and prompts, Reuters claims another 31 are widely spoken across the platform.

The websites "community standards" which outline the content that users are not allowed to post on the platform, such as "hate speech" and celebrations of violence, were only translated to 41 different languages of the 111 languages supported on Facebook as of March. Facebook’s content moderation team is comprised of 15,000 people speaking 50 languages, but professional translators are often employed when needed.

But as countries such as Australia, Singapore, and the U.K. threaten to impose harsh new regulations on the companies for failure to police hate speech ‐ with steep fines or jail time for executives if violated ‐ Facebook will need to beef up its content moderation across all languages. The Facebook vice president in charge of standards, Monika Bickert, previously told Reuters that the company was "a heavy lift to translate into all those different languages."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
No happy ending as Mexican Police launch Texas man from 14 floor
[Breitbart] MONTERREY, Nuevo Leon ‐ A police intelligence team was arrested in connection with the death of a Texas man and an alleged extortion scheme. The homicide victim was an accused drug dealer in custody. According to investigating authorities, decorated officers potentially threw the man off a 14-story building.

The alleged murder took place over the weekend when decorated officers from Fuerza Civil reportedly used a fake arrest warrant to extort 27-year-old Fortunato Esquivel Garcia. The move failed and ended with the cops throwing the victim from the 14th floor of the Semillero building in the Monterrey metropolitan area, say authorities. The victim died from injuries sustained from falling more than 147 feet.
Un-Fortunato
The Nuevo Leon government announced the arrests of five police officers and the ongoing search for a sixth from an intelligence unit within Fuerza Civil, the police agency controlled by Public Safety Secretary Aldo Fasci Zuazua. Soon after, Aldo Fasci made a series of public statements claiming the officers were not with the intelligence unit, but an obsolete department being phased out.

If Mr. Garcia (or Esquivel Garcia, if he is following the Mexican styling) really is a drug dealer, I find it hard to work up excitement over either party. Though it’s useful to know things haven’t much changed since badanov was following events south of the border.

It must be noted that it’s difficult to extort anything from a dead man beyond what was in his pockets, a failure of imagination on the part of decorated intelligence officers.

[KhaamaPress] The Afghan cops have foiled a massive attack by anti-government armed murderous Moslems in Kandahar city by seizing 1.5 tons of explosives.

Informed military sources said "The Kandahar Police foiled a massive attack by forces of Evil in Kandahar City during a special operation. Intelligence reports led them to a compound which they seized over 1.5 tons of explosives that were hidden in food bags."

Kandahar Police Chief Gen. Tadin Khan also confirmed that the security forces have confiscated potent explosives in liquid and dry forms which the murderous Moslems were looking to use in an attack.

This comes as the security situation in southern Kandahar province had relatively improved during the recent years but the anti-government armed elements have been attempting to destabilize the province.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas infiltrated PA security forces, recruited officers as spies — report
[IsraelTimes] Gazoo-based terror group managed to turn agents in sensitive units, including the preventative force that works alongside Israel to thwart Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", activity in West Bank.

Hamas has managed to recruit members of the Paleostinian Authority’s security forces into the terrorist group over the past year, including some in sensitive units that work alongside Israel to thwart Hamas terror activity in the West Bank, according to a newspaper report on Tuesday.

The Paleostinian Authority’s intelligence agents caught wind of the breach, launching a covert crackdown on the Hamas spies several months ago that saw several security officers tossed in the clink
Please don't kill me!
after confessing to working for the terror group, according to Yedioth Ahronoth, which cited Paleostinian sources.

The report said Paleostinian security officers were reeled in to work for Hamas either through bribes and financial incentives, or through the jailing of their relatives in Gazoo.

Leaders of Hamas in Gazoo and abroad oversaw the recruitment of the PA security officers, the report said.

The officers were asked to convey sensitive intelligence to the Gazoo leaders on PA security operations, including against Hamas cells in the West Bank. Some were told to plant false information to mislead the PA forces.

Hamas managed to infiltrate various units, including the Preventative Security Service that works with Israel to foil terror attacks (and is the equivalent to the Shin Bet security service in Israel), intelligence, and the Paleostinian police, among others, the report said.

The PA has largely thwarted the infiltration after jailing suspects who admitted they were serving Hamas, the report said, and PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
was updated throughout on the secret investigation.

But concerns linger that other Paleostinian security officers, who recently have received only 50 percent of their monthly salaries amid a budget crunch, could easily be enticed to work for Hamas for the money.

In response, PA security forces front man Adnan Damiri appeared to pour cold water on the report, telling the Wafa news site that: "There are two persons from the security services who were placed in durance vile

two years ago on suspicion of leaking information to Hamas," Damiri said. "Statements like the ones the Hebrew press is launching against the security services raise some doubts for us about who is behind them."

Abdurahman was buried by troops on the island. There was no report of military casualties in the fighting that lasted ten minutes. Soldiers also seized a boat and a rifle from the area, according to Dela Vega, who said the military operation against the pro-ISIS group was ongoing.

New Details Emerge on Boy Scouts' 'Perversion Files'; Thousands of Boy Scout Leaders Face Child Sex Allegations
[NBCNEWYORK] Alarming new details have surfaced about how many people were listed in the Boy Scouts of America’s "perversion files," according to lawyers who demand the full release of thousands of names of alleged offenders in the files. Nearly 200 of them are from New York and New Jersey.

Though allegations came to light Monday night, a victims' rights attorney who compiled an "incomplete" list of former Boy Scout leaders accused of abuse in New York held a pressers Tuesday to discuss what he claims to be a widespread pattern of abuse. He also asked more victims to come forward.

The victims’ rights attorney, Jeff Anderson, called it a system of denial and cover-ups. He claims the Boy Scouts have files on child abusers within their ranks dating back to the 1940s.

"For many, many years there's been an excavation of what are called the 'perversion files' ‐ those are files held and hoarded at the Boy Scouts of America headquarters," Anderson said during Tuesday's New York presser, adding that "those 'perversion files' that they've had reflect that they have removed thousands of offenders of childhood sexual abuse over the years and they've kept that in files secretly."
Hokay... So the Boy Scouts were bullied into accepting men who like boys as scout leaders. Now it comes out that (no surprise) undeclared pedos have been signing up as scoutmasters all these years and being quietly dumped. This is somehow a scandal.

Israeli troops accused of shooting at handcuffed Palestinian
[DAWN] A hospitalised Paleostinian teen said on Monday he was shot in his thighs by Israeli soldiers while he was handcuffed and blindfolded the latest in what a leading rights group portrayed as a series of unjustified shootings of Paleostinians by Israeli soldiers.

The military said it was investigating last week’s incident, which it said took place as Paleostinian youths were throwing stones at Israeli soldiers.

Osama Hajahjeh, 16, said he was trying to run from soldiers when he was shot Thursday. He said the incident began after a funeral for a school teacher in his village of Tekoa, who had been hit by a car driven by an Israeli while walking at a busy intersection.

Hajahjeh said school was let out early for students to attend the funeral. After the burial, he said he was tackled by a soldier who jumped out of an olive grove and forced him to the ground. He said his hands were cuffed and his eyes covered with a cloth blindfold.

Egypt's constitutional amendments passed by 88.83% in referendum - National Elections Authority
[AlAhram] Egypt's National Elections Authority (NEA) announced on Tuesday that Egyptians have voted to pass a number of constitutional amendments in a public referendum, with 88.83% voting in favour.

Head of the NEA Lashin Ibrahim told a presser that the turnout of voters stood at 27,193,593 -- including both expats and local voters -- constituting 44.33 percent of 61,344,503 eligible voters.

Ibrahim said there were 26,362,421 valid votes, standing at 96.94 percent, while 831,172 votes were void (3.06 percent).

Voters were asked to vote yes or no on a package of 14 amendments to the 2014 constitution.

The amendments had been overwhelmingly approved by parliament last week, with 531 out of 596 members voting in favour, 22 voting against and one abstention.

The amendments include changing the length of presidential terms from four to six years.

They also extend the second term of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, which is set to end in 2022, by two years, and allow him to run for office for another term in 2024.

The amendments also allocate a quarter of the seats in parliament to women.

They also give the president new powers to appoint members of the judiciary, and would create a second chamber of parliament (the Senate), with one-third of its members to be appointed by the president, and re-introduce the post of vice president.

El-Sisi was first elected president in 2014 and was re-elected last year in a landslide victory wherein he secured 97 percent of the vote.

FSA sleeper cell attacks Syrian Army troops inside northern Daraa
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] Intense festivities broke out this evening between the Free Syrian Army
... the more palatable version of the Syrian insurgency, heavily influenced by the Moslem Brüderbund...
(FSA) and Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the northern countryside of the Daraa Governorate.

According to a military report from Daraa, the Free Syrian Army’s sleeper cell attacked the Syrian Arab Army’s positions inside the town of al-Sanamayn; this culminated in a series of intense festivities that are still ongoing at the moment.

The reports said the Free Syrian Army was using light and medium weapons that they did not handover to the Russian forces during their surrender this past Summer.

The Free Syrian Army has attempted to wreak havoc on the Syrian military in the Daraa and al-Quneitra governorates by carrying out similar attacks on their checkpoints.

These attacks by the Free Syrian Army have prompted the Syrian military to reinforce Daraa and threaten to launch a new operation to clear the reconciled towns of the remaining rebels.

Syrian Army eliminates ISIS group attempting to escape Euphrates region

(ISIS/ISIS/IS/ISIS) bandidos turbans fled the Baghouz Mountain region of eastern Deir Ezzor last night and crossed the Euphrates River to reach the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) territories.

The Islamic State bandidos turbans attempted to evade the Syrian Army troops at al-Sayyal so that they could reach their comrades in the Badiya al-Sham region of western Deir Ezzor.

However,
the man who has no enemies isn't anybody and has never done anything...
the Islamic State’s fighters would ultimately be spotted by Syrian Army scouts, prompting a fierce engagement at the town of al-Sayyal.

The Syrian Arab Army was able to get the upper hand against the fleeing Islamic State fighters, killing and wounding nearly all of the bandidos turbans during the twilight hours last night.

This latest break out attempt by the Islamic State marks the second time in the last 24 hours that the terrorist group has sought to escape the Euphrates River Valley region for Badiya al-Sham.

During Sunday’s break out attempt from the Euphrates River Valley, the Islamic State forces suffered the same fate as their comrades on Monday.

ISIS has been conducting these break out attempts at night in order to better their chances of not being spotted by either the Syrian Arab Army and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Federal govt criticised for failing to check Hindu women’s abduction, conversion
[DAWN] Qaumi Awami Tehrik (QAT) president Ayaz Latif Palijo on Monday lashed out at the federal government for its failure to protect the women belonging to minorities, claiming that the cases of their abduction and forced conversion were on the rise in Sindh.

Mr Palijo, who is also the general secretary of the Grand Democratic Alliance, was speaking to local news hounds during a sit-in organised in Talhar town by his party against persisting water crisis and injustices with growers, minorities and people of drought-hit Thar region.

He said it was responsibility of both federal and provincial governments to take stern action against those influential figures who were involved in the abduction and forced conversions of Hindu women.

He held the federal and provincial governments equally responsible for the lack of food, water and health facilities in Thar where, according to him, children were dying of hunger and people were committing suicide due to abject poverty and helplessness.

New York faces fatbergs crisis as officials tell residents to stop throwing 'flushable wipes' down the toilet after 53,000 tons of refuse was found clogging the city's sewers in 2018

Perhaps NYC should tax wipes. I'm sure they could raise enough revenue to resolve the problem.

#4  OK, back when the kids still needed wiping, wife brought some of these home. I gave one test and pulled the auto-veto, these are not going through our toilet system.

That said, there are plenty of people who are: out of sight, not my problem - who is to say these are the 'flushable' kind and not regulary wipies - and will flush anything. You know, shithole people who grew up in shitholes and don't mind being in a shithole.

Then there are those who believe anything on the packaging - sunscreen says blocks sun's harmful rays - put sunscreen in the eyes to watch an eclipse.

And I'd suspect Bobby is right about the flow.

When I was a baby babysitting high-rises, most of the OEs had an irresistible need to discuss their upstairs toilet arrangements and outcomes: "First ya put down a splashpad..." and so forth. Used to creep me out; shoulda been scribbling notes for a novel. Anyways, it was never how many sheets of TP but how many pulls on the reel... or how many handtowels. Speaker Pelosi removed all other oversight responsibility and shifted the committee to a singular oversight role focused only on the White House.

Chairman Cummings is demanding the personal financial records of Donald Trump and all of his business interests around the Trump organization. The demand includes all personal and private financial records including tax filings from individuals, officers and corporate entities within the Trump organization. As a private, non-public corporation, this demand for financial records would encompass the entire Trump family.

US mother of 7 pleads guilty to ‘attempting to provide support to ISIS’
[ALMASDARNEWS] A mother of seven from the US state of Wisconsin faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of"attempting to provide material support to terrorists."

Prosecutors allege that Waheba Issa Dais
...the Arab-Israeli woman brought to the U.S. in 1992 by her American husband. A decade later she kept the kids and the legal residency in the divorce...
used social media accounts she "took over from unwitting victims" to share information about making poisons, boom jackets, biological weapons, and explosives, and suggested potential events and locations to target in terrorist attacks in conversations she had with self-proclaimed IS members and supporters.

According to prosecutors, Dais initially pleaded not guilty
"Wudn't me."
to two charges, yet a second one was dropped in exchange for her changing her plea to guilty.

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
authorities were unable to connect her to any attacks or plots in the real world and also said she has a history of mental illness.
How Islamic
The Daily Mail adds:
An FBI confidential informant told investigators that Dais is unemployed and that her 'Islamic husband' paid the bills.
...is an Islamic husband something like a baby daddy?
The informant also reported that Dais was 'constantly on social media promoting ISIS' and that her accounts were frequently shut down for that reason.

Elizabeth Makowski, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in Milwaukee, declined to say whether authorities believe Dais has any connection to an alleged plot in Germany involving Tunisian Sief Allah H., who prosecutors say created Ricin using castor bean seeds.
It was a busy day. From the Chicago Tribune:
Also Monday in a separate case, prosecutors announced that a Milwaukee man pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting an attempt to provide material support to the IS. In that case, prosecutors said Yosvany Padilla-Conde, a Cuban national, made videos swearing allegiance to the IS and stating his intent to travel with another Wisconsin man to the Middle East.

Padilla-Conde thought he was sending the videos to an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. recruiter, but it was actually an undercover FBI agent.

Padilla-Conde's co-conspirator, Jason Ludke,
...in our our archives as Jason Michael Ludke, 35...
was convicted last year and is already incarcerated. Padilla-Conde faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 7.

"These cases demonstrate the continuing and evolving threat posed by foreign terrorist organizations," Krueger said.

Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. The campaign was suspended after a large number of people staged a protest demonstration and resorted to violence following reports that a large number of students had been brought to hospitals after they were administrated polio drops.

The EOC officials said that the campaign has been suspended keeping in mind the safety and security of polio workers.

Provincial Health Secretary Farooq Jameel held the parents of the two victims of the polio virus responsible for their ailment.

Talking about yesterday's events in Peshawar, he said that a fresh vaccination drive will be launched in the area once the situation improves and after parents' trust is regained.

"Those who talk about a [...] conspiracy [behind the polio vaccination] have no hesitation in providing imported milk and biscuits to their children," he regretted, adding that such type of events hurt the reputation of the country on the international level.

In September 2010, she was sentenced to 86 years in jug after a three-ring trial. Since her incarceration Paks have taken her to their heart and periodically erupt into demonstrations, while the government tries to find somebody to swap for her...
"does not want to come back to Pakistain" and reports of her possible repatriation are "mere chatter", according to Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal.

Dr Faisal, in an interview with Independent Urdu, said that "she (Dr Aafia) will not come back. She does not want to come back herself, as per the information I have."

The FO spokesperson said that the only way the possibility of Dr Aafia's return could arise is if Prime Minister Imran Khan

In that case, "the exchange of Aafia Siddiqui for Shakeel Afridi could come under discussion," he added.

Dr Aafia's sister Dr Fouzia contested the FO spokesperson statement, telling Independent Urdu that "if anyone says that Aafia herself does not want to come to Pakistain, it is completely untrue." She also confirmed that the consulate office in Houston had met Aafia last month.

Dr Fouzia further said that "at one point it had seemed as if Aafia was going to come to Pakistain any moment." She said that she had been reassured by the government that negotiations with the US were ongoing and that "there will be a good news between January and March, but now silence has set in again."

"Aafia told me on the phone that she is ready to sign any document, and that she only wants to get out of jail somehow," Dr Fouzia was quoted as saying.

It is pertinent to mention here that last year, Dr Aafia's sister, Dr Fouzia, had requested Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi to take up the matter with the US.

The foreign minister had said that the issue of Dr Aafia's repatriation was "being considered", following which Consul General in Houston Aisha Farooqui had met Dr Aafia and urged the US to "respect her human and legal rights".

In the video, Nazar alleges that administration of the vaccine causes children to fall unconscious. Then he turns to a group of children standing next to him and orders them to "fall asleep". They then lie down on the hospital bed behind them as if they were unconscious.

When a boy gets up, Nazar tells him to "fall asleep" again, after which he lies down on the bed again.

In another video, Nazar is speaking to news hounds outside, surrounded by a crowd of men. He alleges that some children in his video died after being administered the vaccine.

According to provincial officials and anti-polio campaign documents, suspicion about the vaccine stems from misconceptions about the oral polio vaccine (OPV) which have persisted since 2004, when obscurantist elements and bully boyz in the area spread rumours that certain hormones were deliberately added to the OPV to make Moslem children sterile.

Saudi Arabia beheads 37 prisoners for terrorism crimes

[DAWN] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
on Tuesday beheaded 37 Saudi citizens in a mass execution across the country for what it described as terrorism-related crimes, publicly pinning one of the bodies and its severed head to a pole as a warning to others.

It marked the largest number of executions in a single day in Saudi Arabia since January 2, 2016, when the kingdom executed 47 individuals in what was the largest mass execution carried out by Saudi Arabia since 1980.

Among those executed three years ago was prominent Shiite holy man Nimr al-Nimr, whose death sparked protests from Pakistain to Iran and the ransacking of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. Saudi-Iran ties have not recovered and the embassy remains shuttered.

King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Lord of Most of the Arabians....
ratified by royal decree Tuesday's mass execution and that of 2016. The king, who has empowered his son Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....
, has asserted a bolder and more decisive leadership style than previous monarchs since ascending to the throne four years ago.

This latest mass execution comes on the heels of Sri Lanka's Easter Day attacks that killed over 300 people, including two Saudi nationals. The attack was claimed by the bully boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group.

Also, on Sunday four Islamic State button men were killed by Saudi security forces while trying to attack a security building north of the capital, Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry said Tuesday's executions were carried out in accordance with Islamic law, using language that indicated they were all beheadings. Saudi Arabia's supreme council of Moslem scholars also issued a statement saying the executions were carried out in accordance with Islamic law.

The Interior Ministry said the body of one of the men Khaled bin Abdel Karim al-Tuwaijri was publicly pinned to a pole for several hours in a process that is not frequently used by the kingdom and has sparked controversy for its grisly display.

The statement did not say in which city of Saudi Arabia the public display took place.

The government defends such executions as a powerful tool for deterrence.

The Interior Ministry statement said those executed had adopted turban ideologies and formed terrorist cells with the aim of spreading chaos and provoking sectarian strife.

It said the individuals had been found guilty according to the law and ordered executed by the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh, which specializes in terrorism trials, and the country's high court.

The individuals were found guilty of attacking security installations with explosives, killing a number of security officers and cooperating with enemy organizations against the interests of the country, the Interior Ministry said.

The statement was carried across state-run media, including the Saudi news channel al-Ekhbariya. The statement read on the state-run news channel opened with a verse from the Koran that condemns attacks that aim to create strife and disharmony and warns of great punishment for those who carry out such attacks.
Update from Iraqi News at 2:45 pm EDT:
The executed persons include 11 men who were convicted of spying for Iran, while at least 14 others were convicted of violent offences and participation in anti-government demonstrations between 2011 and 2012.

Sri Lanka
Day 4: Sri Lanka arrests 40 suspects after bombings, toll up to 310
Day 3 posts can be seen here and here.
[DAWN] As a state of emergency took effect on Tuesday giving the Sri Lankan military war-time powers, police tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
40 suspects, including the driver of a van allegedly used by jacket wallahs involved in deadly Easter bombings and the owner of a house where some of them lived, officials said.

Sri Lanka's president gave the military a wider berth to detain and arrest suspects powers that were used during the 26-year civil war but withdrawn when it ended in 2009.

The corpse count from Sunday's attacks rose to 310, police front man Ruwan Gunasekara said.

On Tuesday, which President Maithripala Sirisena declared a day of mourning, Sri Lankan authorities planned to brief foreign diplomats and receive assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other foreign intelligence-gathering agencies after officials disclosed Monday that warnings had been received weeks ago of the possibility of an attack by the radical group blamed for the bloodshed.

The six near-simultaneous attacks on three churches and three luxury hotels and three related blasts later on Sunday were the South Asian island nation's deadliest violence in a decade.

The government blocked most social media to curtail false information. Even after an overnight, nationwide curfew was lifted, the streets of central Colombo remained mostly deserted and shops closed as armed soldiers stood guard.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said he feared the massacre could unleash instability and he vowed to "vest all necessary powers with the defense forces" to act against those responsible.

In an indication of the tensions, three kabooms caused panic but apparently no injuries on Monday as police were defusing bombs inside a van parked near one of the stricken churches. Dozens of detonators were discovered near Colombo's main bus depot, but officials declined to say whether they were linked to the attacks.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russian-Turkish demilitarized zone has only strengthened the jihadists
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian and Ottoman Turkish presidents reached an agreement on September 17th, 2018 to implement a 20km-deep "demilitarized zone" along the Syrian Arab Army-jihadist front-lines in the Idlib, Hama, Latakia, and Aleppo governorates.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
despite claims of successfully implementing the Sochi Agreement by both Russia and and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the most dubious NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
ally....

, the reality is that there is no demilitarized zone and there is no ceasefire.

In fact, the Sochi Agreement has done little to end the violence that is plaguing northwestern Syria.

The agreement itself is nothing more than Turkey protecting their interests in Idlib while they send their allied rebel forces (National Liberation Front
...the Turkic paramilitaries intended to replace with their native jihadi ferocity all the highly trained Turkish soldiers Sultan Erdogan I the much beloved has jailed in the last few years for not worshipping the ground he walks upon. The Uighurs and so forth who did not join Al Nusra or ISIS seem to have ended up here...
) to the front-lines with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Furthermore, as a result of this rebel redeployment, the jihadists from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham
have taken over several areas in northwestern Syria, including most of western Aleppo.

With Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham now deeply embedded in western Aleppo, the total number of attacks on the quiet provincial capital have increased exponentially over the last two months.

The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the terrorist groups in the Aleppo and Idlib governorates must be eliminated, but there has been little movement on the ground and heavy resistance from their Ottoman Turkish partners, who maintain several observation posts in northwestern Syria.

Prior to this agreement, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham had suffered several devastating losses at the hands of the Syrian military; however, since September 2018, the jihadist group has been able to regroup and carry out many attacks against the government forces.

Justice sought for woman allegedly raped, murdered in govt hospital
[DAWN] Relatives of a young woman allegedly raped and murdered by staffers of a government hospital called for justice for the victim at a presser held at the Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
Press Club on Monday, while Sindh’s chief minister called for a detailed probe into the matter.

The victim was found dead by her mother at the Sindh Government Hospital in Korangi on April 18.

The victim’s aunt was addressing a presser called by members of civil society together with the National Human Rights Commission-Pakistain and the Sindh Human Rights Commission.

With the victim’s parents overwhelmed by grief it was her aunt and friends who came forward to demand justice.

"On hearing that [the victim’s] condition was not good from someone at the hospital, my sister rushed there but on reaching there she was informed that she had to be moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre after which she rushed there only to find out that her daughter wasn’t there. Then when she returned to the Sindh Government Hospital again they again told her to go to JPMC," the aunt narrated her sister’s ordeal.

"That was when, suspecting something fishy, she started looking for her daughter at the hospital herself. When she finally found her lifeless form lying on a stretcher in one of the back rooms she at first thought that she was unconscious but she was gone," she added.

"My sister was then told that she had died due to a reaction by an antibiotic injection and that she should accept God’s will," the aunt said. "But we thought that [the victim], who had only gone to the hospital complaining of toothache, was a victim of medical negligence or malpractice. Then to our horror it turned out to be something even worse," she said. After the post-mortem it turned out to be a case of sexual assault and murder.

According to some reports, the 22-year-old woman was drugged and raped during her visit to the hospital.

According to the family of the victim, she was a bright, independent and fiercely committed young woman who also was emerging as a prominent community leader in the area.

Anis Haroon of NHRC-Pakistain said that it was the government’s responsibility to find out what really happened and to punish the culprits. "We demand an inquiry from the government. We also ask the Pakistain Medical Association to look into this matter as the doctors accused and involved in the crime take oaths to save lives, not take lives," she said.

At least 264 dead in battle for Libya capital: WHO
[AlAhram] At least 264 people have been killed and 1,266 maimed, including civilians, in an offensive by military strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. The UN agency called on Twitter for "a temporary cessation of hostilities" between Haftar's self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) and forces loyal to the internationally-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA).

It urged "all parties to respect international humanitarian law".

Fighting since April 4 in the southern suburbs of Tripoli has displaced 35,000, UN humanitarian coordinator for Libya Maria do Valle Ribeiro said on Monday.

US vows to keep using Strait of Hormuz despite IRGC threats
[MOBILE.ALMASDARNEWS] The United States has pledged that its military will fly and sail wherever the international law allows ensuring the safety of commercial and non-commercial traffic in response to Tehran’s warning to close the Strait of Hormuz, US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said in a press briefing on Tuesday.

"Iran on a fairly regular basis makes sort of extortionist threats and blackmail demands. This is part of the regular course of their business," Hook said. "They’ve threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz more times than I can count. The United States military will fly, sail and operate wherever international law allows, that’s partly to ensure protection of the global commons so that it can be safe for commercial and noncommercial traffic."

The comment referred to the Monday’s statement by the head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps navy force, Alireza Tangsiri, who said that Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz if the country is unable to use it, according to Fars News Agency.

The Strait of Hormuz, a narrow stretch of water between the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, is considered one of the world’s most important choke points for world oil supplies. More than 18 million barrels of oil pass through the narrow waterway each day, accounting for 30 percent of the world’s oil shipments by sea, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

Iran’s statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz came in response to the US decision to end its sanctions waivers for importers of Iranian oil starting on 2 May. Washington’s aim is to eventually cut Iranian oil imports to zero, which is likely to have a significant impact on the country, where oil exports serve as one of the main sources of revenue.

Previously, US economic sanctions on Iran had been lifted as part of the nuclear agreement. But in May 2018 US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...

Pamphlet warns police to leave S. Waziristan in three days
[DAWN] The proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain has allegedly warned police through pamphlets to leave South Wazoo tribal district within three days.
"Or else! You're sooooo gonna get it!"
The pamphlets also asked local people sever relations with government officials.

The leaflets were distributed in the town two days ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
to the tribal district where he is scheduled to address a public meeting.

The pamphlets were distributed in Wana, the district headquarters of South Waziristan, on Sunday night. "Police should leave Wana subdivision and Mehsud area forthwith otherwise we (TTP) will force them out," reads the pamphlet written in Urdu. It said that vehicles used by police in Wana had been identified.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Police started performing duty in the seven tribal districts after merger of Fata with the province. Unlike other districts of the province, the commandants of Levies and Khasadars forces have been designated as district coppers in the merged areas.

The pamphlet said that coppers were allowed to stay in Wana for few days as a gesture of hospitality. "We kidnapped a police officer from Islamabad because he ignored our warnings," it said, adding that Tahir Dawar was warned several times but he did not take the warnings seriously.

Unidentified persons had kidnapped SP Tahir Dawar from Islamabad in October 2018 and his tortured body was found near the border in Afghanistan.

The pamphlet expressed serious reservations over the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Wana. He is likely to address public meeting at a local football ground on Wednesday.

The pamphlet warned the elders and other locals not to attend the public meeting of the prime minister.

Condemning recent cultural festival organised by the district administration in Wana, the pamphlet said that administration, Levies and Khasadar were trying to promote indecency and vulgarity in the area. The pamphlet also carries warning for the local journalists and polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. workers.

Adviser to Chief Minister Ajmal Khan Wazir, however, downplayed the threat, saying vested interests attempted to create fear among people through pamphlets.

Hillary Clinton: Anyone other than Trump would have been indicted for obstruction
[Fox News] Hillary Clinton said Tuesday she believes Donald Trump would have been indicted in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe if he weren't president, though stopped short of calling for his impeachment.

Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president in 2016, argued during a Q&A session in New York that Mueller's report "could not be clearer" in making the case Trump tried to obstruct the Russia investigation -- even though Mueller did not come to an explicit conclusion on that question.

"I think there's enough there that any other person who had engaged in those acts would certainly have been indicted," Clinton said at the "Time 100 Summit." "But because of the rule in the Justice Department that you can't indict a sitting president, the whole matter of obstruction was very directly sent to the Congress."
Someone left the irony on
Clinton, who was defeated by Trump in the election, said it's too early to call for Trump's impeachment. She said she supports Congress investigating Mueller's findings "based on evidence" and without a "preordained conclusion."

After a thorough examination in Congress, Clinton said, "If at that point they believe high crimes and misdemeanors have been committed, then I think it is the obligation of the Congress to put forward articles of impeachment."

"I'm really of the mind that the Mueller report is part of the beginning," Clinton said. "It's not the end."

Earlier Tuesday, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner ripped into the Russia investigations, saying the probes have been "way more harmful" than Russia's election meddling.

The comments were made in the wake of Mueller's report saying investigators found no evidence the Trump campaign illegally conspired with Russia in election meddling.

"When you look at what Russia did, buying some Facebook ads and trying to sow dissent, it's a terrible thing," Kushner said at the Time event. "But I think the investigations and all of the speculation that's happened for the last two years has a much harsher impact on our democracy than a couple Facebook ads."
Yea, look in the mirror!

New Jersey governor wants to increase price for buying and carrying a gun by 2,000%
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] New Jersey Gov. Philip Murphy, a Democrat, wants to dramatically increase the permits and licenses needed to buy and carry a firearm in his state.
You vote for them, you deserve them.
The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reports it costs $5 to get a firearm identification card, $2 for the permit to own a firearm, and $20 for the permit to carry.

Under Murphy's budget proposal, the firearm identification card will jump from $5 to $100, the owner’s permit will go up from $2 to $40, and the permit to carry, the largest increase, will go from $20 to $400. For all three licenses and permits, the price would increase by 2,000%.

"There’s no war on responsible gun owners," Mr. Murphy said in an interview. "We can support the efforts of the attorney general, state troopers, county and local law enforcement, to do the stuff we need to do: track crime, track gun violence, combat trafficking of illegal guns," he told the Times.

"I was in Jersey City," he said. "It’s at least $10 to get a dog license in Jersey City. It’s still $2 to get a permit to purchase a firearm in New Jersey," he added. He also wants a "ammunition excise tax of 10% and a firearms excise tax of 2.5%."

The governor's proposal will further increase retail gun dealer licenses from $50 to $500, NJ.com reported in March.

#5  So criminals and cops will be the only ones with firearms. What do criminals care about permits, fees and legal carry, they are after all criminals.

Stupidity trumps common sense. This is a twofer for New Jersey govmint. They are creating a stream of revenue for crooked politicians and about punishing law-abiding citizens who legally carry a firearm for protection.

How you gonna enforce it, Gov? Virtue signals, perhaps?

#11  I really think it's a shame these assholes, as well as the ones in Californica, only pay four dollars a gallon per gas. It's war on the working class that the glorified perl script weenies that run the state don't have to pay thirty bucks a gallon.

#12  How do the old and new fees compare to other states? I tried to look up what it costs here in Ohio, but couldn’t find anything recent except that some years ago a concealed carry license cost $67 plus a mandatory training course,

-Lurid Crime Tales-
"Nigerian brothers" sue Smollett attorneys for defamation
[CWBCHICAGO] Two Lakeview men who police and prosecutors said helped TV star Jussie Smollett stage a bogus hate crime on Jan. 29th have filed a defamation suit against the actor’s Hollywood-based attorneys.

The complaint filed this morning in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
... home of Al Capone, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel,...
’s federal courthouse seeks more than $75,000 each for Olabinjo "Ola" Osundairo and Abimbola "Bola" Osundairo from attorneys Mark Geragos and Tina Glandian as well as the Geragos & Geragos Law Firm.

Geragos and Glandian are accused of making defamatory public statements against the brothers that were published by local media outlets. Throughout the 16-page filing, lawyers for the Osundairos allege that the comments made by Geragos and Glandian went beyond legal representation as the criminal case against Smollett had been resolved when the actor's attorneys made the allegedly defamatory claims.

The suit focuses on statements made by Smollett’s legal team after criminal charges were wrapped up in a secretive and controversial emergency court hearing on March 26th.

"Face with an outraged public," the suit claims, Geragos and Glandian "doubled down" by accusing the Osundairos of leading "a criminally homophobic, racist and violent attack" against Smollett.

Geragos and Glandian "made these comments knowing they were untrue to distract from Mr. Smollett’s farce and to promote themselves and the Geragos & Geragos Law Firm," the suit alleges.

The suit states explicitly that Glandian told a national TV audience that the Osundairos "criminally attacked" Smollett and "may have been wearing ’whiteface’" during the purported attack that was implied to be a hate crime.

India-Pakistan
Boy remanded into police custody for alleged sexual assault of 8-year-old Muzaffargarh girl
[DAWN] A boy in Muzaffargarh was handed over to police on four-day physical remand on Monday for allegedly sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl a week ago.

According to a first information report registered by the girl's father on April 16, his wife had sent their daughter to a nearby store to buy vegetables around 4pm.

After some time passed, she became concerned when their daughter did not return. The man said that as he returned home from work, his daughter appeared, crying, and fell to the ground unconscious.

The FIR said that he noticed she had blood stains on her clothes and he called for help, after which a few witnesses appeared and helped him revive the girl. When she regained consciousness, she told them that the vegetable shop had been closed when she approached it. The suspect, who ─ the FIR claimed was 13-14-years-old ─ was in the vicinity, told her he would give her toffees if she came with him.
