Dutch Christians pick 13 tons of Jaffa oranges to sell at cost in the Netherlands
[IsraelTimes] Pro-Israel Christians pick Jaffa oranges in southern Israel, which their organization then buys from farmers to sell without profit in the Netherlands.

The action in recent weeks in southern Israel lands more than 13 tons of premium oranges bearing the iconic Jaffa brand in the warehouse of the Israel Product Center, which is the commercial arm of the Christians for Israel group, spokesperson Sara van Oordt tells The Times of Israel.

The oranges are preordered and sold out even before their arrival, and stay very briefly at the warehouse of the Israel Products Center inside the three-story headquarters of the Christians for Israel group in Nijkerek near Utrecht. Members and supporters of the group from across the kingdom pick up their Jaffa orders in Nijkerk, van Oordt says.

Each kilogram (2 lbs) costs 2 euros ($2.15), which is significantly cheaper than the standard price of oranges of comparable premium brands at non-discount supermarket chains.

"It’s as Israeli as any product can be, symbolizing Zionism and the establishment of statehood," van Oordt says.

The 13 tons in Nijkerek are a fraction of what Christians for Israel volunteers picked last month in a concentrated action to support Israeli agriculture, she adds. The fact the Jaffas are sold out "shows many Christians in the Netherlands stand squarely behind Israel, in prayer, in action — and also in enjoying the best Israel has to offer."

There’s also a Dutch connection, she notes. "Orange is the Netherlands’ national color. It’s only appropriate they are on offer here."

In Tel Aviv, hundreds protest near the Kirya military headquarters ahead of a war cabinet meeting, demanding that a truce deal be reached to release the hostages still being held in the Strip.

In Jerusalem, near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residence, hundreds take part in a protest calling for the war to continue until Hamas is destroyed, and opposing any ceasefire deal with the terror group.

, prosecutors say during his trial today.

Ahmed Alid, 45, also allegedly attacked his housemate, a Christian convert, and assaulted two coppers, during the incidents in Hartlepool, northeast England, last October.

Prosecutors said he murdered 70-year-old Terence Carney after a chance meeting in the street when he was carrying two knives. He stabbed housemate, Javed Nouri, as he slept in bed. Alid shouted "Allahu Akbar" as he repeatedly maimed the sleeping Nouri in the chest, Teesside Crown Court hears at the start of the trial.

The 31-year-old survived the assault, but Carney died after being stabbed six times in the chest, abdomen and back. Police arrested Alid nearby with a bloody knife in his waistband, and he later told officers that he had acted because of the Gaza war, the court hears.

"He said he had wanted to kill them because of the conflict in Gaza and to further his desire that Paleostine would be free from the Zionists, by which he meant Israel," prosecutor Jonathan Sandiford says. "The defendant said he would have killed more people if he had been able to do so."

‘No consensus’ in Security Council on full UN membership for Palestinians, says chair
[IsraelTimes] Members of the UN Security Council have failed to reach a consensus on a longshot bid by Paleostinians for full UN membership, according to the body’s chair.

"There was no consensus" during a closed-door meeting, says Maltese Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, who holds the council’s rotating presidency for April. "However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the majority were very clearly in favor to move on with membership."

The White House added that it warned Iran to not use that attack as a pretext to escalate further in the region.

Terrorists Release Video Showing Their Eid-El-Fitr Celebration Openly In Large Gathering At Zamfara Community
[SAHARAREPORTERS] Some bandidos in large numbers observed this year's Eid-El-Fitr prayers and other festivities in the open in Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.

The terrorists, who seem to be unperturbed, gathered at the Eid ground in Munhaye town in Zamfara on Wednesday to perform the two raka'at prayers to mark the end of Ramadan fast.

In a viral video posted by a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad basin, Zagazola Makama on his X handle, the bandidos calmly celebrated Eid-El-Fitr without any visible apprehension. The bandidos could be seen with their guns.

They reportedly took hours to recite the Koran and also engaged in wild jubilation.

"Bandits in Zamfara state have released a new video showing its members celebrating the recent Eid-el-Fitr festival in Munhaye community in Zamfara state," Zagazola said.

Some Nigerians have taken to their X handles to express displeasure with the terrorists' gathering without being arrested or challenged by police personnel or soldiers.

For instance, Blessed (@BlessedOdoba) tweeted, "There’s no way the community or government securities will no know that they’re gathering."

Japan's Kishida pleads with US to overcome 'self-doubt' of global role
[THEHILL] Japan’s leader on Thursday issued a passionate plea for Republicans in Congress not to turn away from America’s role as a leader on the world stage, in the face of anxiety over GOP stonewalling of aid for Ukraine and growing isolationism under the influence of former President Trump.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, addressing a joint meeting of Congress, was blunt in his criticism that politicians are suffering from "self-doubt" at a time when U.S. leadership is most needed.

"You believed that freedom is the oxygen of humanity. The world needs the United States to continue playing this pivotal role in the affairs of nations," Kishida said.

"And yet, as we meet here today, I detect an undercurrent of self-doubt among some Americans about what your role in the world should be."

It was the first speech by a foreign leader presided over by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who is overseeing a conference in chaos, with a small group of GOP politicians frequently blocking efforts to legislate based on their own criticisms.

At Kishida’s words, Vice President Harris, sitting next to Johnson, was seen picking up a copy of the prime minister’s speech and beginning to follow along.

Kishida’s government has drawn a direct line between supporting Ukraine in its defensive war against Russia as essential in deterring China from launching aggression against Taiwan and triggering a war in East Asia.

Al-Hakim denounced the assassination of Haniyeh's sons
[NINANEWS] The Head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, condemned the Zionist entity’s crime of assassinating 3 of the sons of the head of the Hamas

Al-Hakim said in a statement, "We condemn in the strongest terms the systematic targeting by the Zionist entity of the family of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, as three of his sons and a number of grandchildren were martyred as a result of this targeting."

He stated that "the crimes of the Zionist entity in targeting the Paleostinian human being without distinguishing between what is civilian and military are evidence of the bankruptcy and suffocation from the steadfastness of the resistance in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Al-Hakim added, "We seize the opportunity to renew our demand on the international community to assume its responsibilities in stopping the war, and implementing the UN Security Council resolution to stop the war, bring in aid, and rebuild the city."

If the purpose of the talks is to delay Israeli action until Iran attacks or the world applies enough pressure to get Israel to lay down her arms, of course it won’t.

'Dangerous' man with suspected Antifa sympathies indicted for terrorism for explosive device packed with nails
[FoxNews] An Alabama man with suspected Antifa sympathies was indicted for terrorism for his alleged role in detonating an explosive device filled with nails to maximize its destructive capability, according to the Department of Justice.

Law enforcement arrested Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert, 26, Wednesday on federal terrorism charges of malicious use of an explosive and possession of an unregistered destructive device. Calvert had previously posted Antifa content on social media and "expressed his belief that violence should be directed against the government," the DOJ said.

Furthermore, the DOJ's investigation found that Calvert had placed Antifa stickers near the scene of the crime, the press release said.

Court documents also said the man was "dangerous" as he had "described his inability to control his own violent, aggressive impulses."

Calvert detonated an explosive device outside of the Alabama Attorney General's Office
…in Montgomery
in February,
and "added a substantial number of nails and other shrapnel to increase [the explosive's] destructive capability," the DOJ alleged.

The stickers placed on state buildings included, "Support your local antifa."

"[Antifa is] a group that law enforcement has a singular focus on, particularly based on their core set of values and beliefs, individuals that are willing to engage in violent behavior, completely contrary to the structure of our Constitution," Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall told Fox News Digital. "It is a group that should be on the radar screen of law enforcement agencies across our state and as well as our nation, and are extremely disturbing and concerning to those of us who serve in public office."

He added that while Antifa is on the radar of law enforcement, there is "a lack of awareness" about the group among the American public.

Government Corruption
Biden cancels another round of student debt for over 200,000 more borrowers
[NY Post] Buying votes illegally with YOUR money
The Biden administration is canceling another $7.4 billion in student loans for 277,000 borrowers, amounting to $153 billion in total debt forgiveness approved by the president.

The Education Department announced Friday that it had approved the extra loan cancellations for almost 4.3 million student borrowers nationwide through its Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) plan.

“Today’s announcement shows — once again — that the Biden-Harris Administration is not letting up its efforts to give hardworking Americans some breathing room,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a statement.

“As long as there are people with overwhelming student loan debt competing with basic needs such as food and healthcare, we will remain relentless in our pursuit to bring relief to millions across the country.”

But critics of the move have often pointed out the financial burden is only being shifted to the majority of US taxpayers who do not have some sort of college degree.

“The administration is tone deaf. There’s no other way to put it,” said House Education and Workforce Committee chairwoman Virginia Foxx, who criticized the Education Department for botching its federal student aid programs while prioritizing the debt cancellation “scheme.”

“That has been frustrating, especially since it has jeopardized the academic journey of millions of students,” Foxx (R-NC) said. “But what is absolutely maddening is that the administration is STILL not doing its job and instead focusing on its student loan shenanigans.”

Under the Biden administration’s various student loan cancellation programs, at least 10% of borrowers have “now been approved for some debt relief,” according to the Education Department, making good on a 2020 campaign promise from the president.

“From day one of my Administration, I promised to fight to ensure higher education is a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity,” President Biden said in a statement. “I will never stop working to cancel student debt — no matter how many times Republican elected officials try to stop us.”

Biden, 81, began the income-driven repayment plan after the Supreme Court struck down his $430 billion student debt cancellation gambit for more than 40 million borrowers in June 2023 — but the SAVE plan is expected to cost US taxpayers even more.

According to a Penn Wharton Budget Model estimate, SAVE costs will soar to $475 billion over the next 10 years.

The Republican attorneys general of Kansas and Missouri are already challenging the plan with federal lawsuits that are backed by their opposite numbers in Alabama, Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas and Utah.
Good.
“Last time Defendants tried this the Supreme Court said that this action was illegal,” the lawsuit states. “Nothing since then has changed, other than introducing more legal errors into this Rule’s underlying analysis.”

A recent court filing by Kansas AG Kris Kobach added that it was “unrealistic to think that any loan forgiveness that occurs during this litigation will ever be clawed back.”

The SAVE plan is already serving at least 8 million student borrowers, allowing many to make lower payments and some to make no payments on their debt until their income rises above a certain threshold.

Under the plan, borrowers who originally borrowed $12,000 or less are eligible for forgiveness after 10 years. Those who took out more than $12,000 can get cancellation but on a longer timeline. For each $1,000 borrowed beyond $12,000, it adds an additional year of payments on top of 10 years.

On Friday the administration also said it’s canceling loans for 65,000 borrowers who are enrolled in older income-driven repayment plans and hit the finish line for forgiveness. It also announced cancellation for another 5,000 borrowers through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.

That’s on top of a pledge Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made to voters in the swing states of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania earlier this week to cancel up to $20,000 in accrued interest for more than 25 million debtors who went to college.

My son is in the process of being a first time buyer - the only reason he was able to pull it off at all is because he's a veteran who could go with a VA loan.

And the place still came in at just over $170K for 1100 sq. ft. Big yard though.

Back in 1982 the only reason we were able to pull it off was because the sellers were willing to let us have an FHA loan. We felt very lucky to only have to pay about 19.5% interest for a 30-year fixed with 2% down. But we were those cute youngsters eager to start married life in a home of our own, so they were willing to go through extra inspections and repairs to get the sale approved. When we sold, we did the same for the buyers who came after us.

Vice President J.D. Vance
[American Greatness] Donald Trump has locked up the necessary delegates for the Republican presidential nomination, which means it’s time for every political junkie’s favorite quadrennial game: Veepstakes!

Every four years, commentators, political consultants, and elected officials all chime in with their takes on who a presidential candidate’s running mate should be. Perhaps the candidate ought to select a veep from a swing state. Perhaps the candidate ought to select someone who fits a certain demographic box. Maybe the candidate ought to pick someone with a very similar political philosophy—or perhaps someone whose ideological bona fides assuage any lingering concerns that party loyalists might harbor about the man at the top of the ticket. Or maybe it’s really as easy as picking someone who the presidential nominee simply likes and vibes with on a personal level.

There is no shortage of factors to consider. In 2024, the conversation really only pertains to former (and perhaps future) President Donald Trump; Democrats and their doddering Delawarean dolt at the top of the ticket, President Joe Biden, are stuck with cackler-in-chief Kamala Harris. Democrats are hemorrhaging minority voter support at breakneck pace, and they cannot afford to risk a greater exodus of Black voters by unceremoniously dumping a Black woman from their ticket.

Ultimately, the vice presidential pick should be selected by paying some consideration to the above factors, but above all, it is imperative to assess the contenders a little less robotically. We’re talking about human beings, after all. As dumbed down as it may seem, it is actually crucial to select someone who has the right "vibe"—or, to put it a little more technically, best captures the prevailing zeitgeist.

All of that is why Trump should select as his running mate the precocious freshman U.S. senator from Ohio, J.D. Vance.
That lovable little scamp
Congressman Vance was born in 1984 — he is only precocious politically.

Government Corruption
Catherine Herridge Says It Was ‘Journalistic Rape' When CBS Locked Her Out of Office and Seized Her Files
[American Greatness] Investigative journalist Catherine Herridge testified Thursday that CBS News locked her out of her emails and her office when it seized her reporting files, which included confidential source information pertaining to an investigation into government corruption.

"I can only speak for myself. When my records were seized, I felt it was a journalistic rape," Herridge told House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) during a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government hearing.

The seizure of her files back in February alarmed many current and former CBS employees, as the move was said to be unheard of in the news business. SAG-AFTRA, the media’s largest labor union, immediately got involved, and several days after the news shocked the reporting world, Herridge’s materials were returned.

Herridge, formerly the Chief Intelligence correspondent for Fox News, was one of four witnesses testifying before the subcommittee hearing, titled "Fighting for a Free Press: Protecting Journalists and their Sources." The purpose of the hearing was "to examine the federal government’s infringement on the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of the press, as well as federal shield law proposals."

Also testifying Thursday were Mary Cavallaro, Chief Broadcast Officer of SAG-AFTRA News & Broadcast Department; Sharyl Attkisson, Investigative journalist and managing editor of "Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson;" and Nadine Farid Johnson, Policy Director for Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University.

All four witnesses strongly supported the Protect Reporters from Exploitative State Spying (PRESS) Act, which passed the unanimously in the House back in January and is currently being considered in the U.S. Senate.

The PRESS Act prohibits the federal government from compelling journalists and providers of telecommunications services to disclose "sources, records, contents of a communication, documents, and information obtained or created by journalists in the course of their work" except in limited circumstances involving terrorism or imminent violence. The legislation also prevents federal law enforcement from abusing its subpoena power.

"As you know, I was held in contempt of court for upholding the basic journalistic principle of maintaining the pledge of confidentiality to my sources," Herridge said in her opening statement. "I have complete respect for the district court and the judicial process and I am not here to litigate the merits of that case. It will play out before the appellate court in Washington D.C."

Emphasis added first para.

Antony Blinken's answer to Pulp Fiction 'cleaner': Winston Wolfe failed to answer questions 100 TIMES when quizzed about disastrous Afghanistan exit, damning transcripts reveal
It was perhaps the most consequential of President Joe Biden administration's foreign policy decisions: How to bring home American troops from Afghanistan while keeping diplomats, American citizens and Afghan allies safe.

Yet when one of the State Department's key officials was quizzed by congressional investigators on how the effort descended into chaos he could not remember the details.

Hours of closed-door testimony obtained by DailyMail.com reveal how Derek Chollet, the secretary of state's top troubleshooter who compared himself with Winston 'the Wolf' Wolfe in 'Pulp Fiction', answered 100 times that he did not remember, could not recall or did not know details that might illuminate what went wrong.

12 Reasons Carbines Are The Most Underrated Property Defense Firearm (slide show)
[Bodycams] When it comes to defending your home and property, the first options that usually come to mind are handguns and shotguns. But there’s a highly effective yet often overlooked contender: the carbine. Offering a unique blend of firepower, precision, and versatility, carbines stand out as an exceptional choice for those seeking to bolster their defensive capabilities in unexpected and highly efficient ways.

Carbines bridge the gap between the raw power of rifles and the close-quarters convenience of handguns, presenting a solution that combines the best of both worlds. With their compact size, they maneuver seamlessly through the tight corners of a home, while their accuracy and range give you an edge over intruders from a distance. This blend of attributes makes carbines not just a practical choice for home defense but a formidable one, challenging the traditional norms and offering a sophisticated yet accessible means to protect what matters most.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Violent home intruder handcuffs 85-year-old woman, but she grabs her .357 Magnum revolver and shoots him dead, Idaho police say
[Blaze] An 85-year-old woman in rural Idaho is being hailed for her heroic actions after she was the victim of a brutal home invasion.

The Bingham County Sheriff’s Office said officers were called to the home on March 13 and found a man deceased from gunshot wounds and the elderly homeowner also injured.

The home invasion began at about 2 a.m. when 39-year-old Derek Ephriam Condon parked a mile away and then broke into the home through a window with a screwdriver, according to Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley. He was wearing a military jacket and a black ski mask.

Condon awakened Christine Jenneiahn by bashing her in the head with his gun. Police said they found blood on her pillow to substantiate the claim.

The man then dragged Jenneiahn to the living room and handcuffed her to a wooden chair. He demanded that she tell him where her valuables were located and grew angry when she said she didn't have much. She said that he put his gun to her head at that point.

She told him that there were two safes downstairs, and Condon left her handcuffed to rummage around for the safes. That's when he discovered that her disabled son was also in the home, and he grew angry that she hadn't told him about the son.

When he left her again, Jenneiahn was able to drag her chair over to her pillow and retrieve a .357 Magnum revolver. She hid the gun and waited to see what Condon would do next.

Jolley said that Condon threatened to kill her while burglarizing the home, so, Jenneiahn decided to take a chance, and she shot at the man.

Condon was struck twice and was able to shoot back at the woman, striking her numerous times with a 9mm gun in the leg, arm, chest, and abdomen.

The man made his way to the kitchen, where he died of his wounds.

Jenneiahn was still handcuffed to the chair and remained on the floor for 10 hours before her son was able to bring her a phone so that she could call the police. She given life-saving treatment and taken to a hospital.

Jolley said that police found Condon's car near the home with footprints leading to the house. They also found a set of lock picks on Condon's body and a bag containing some of the woman's possessions.

The incident was determined to be a "justifiable homicide" under Idaho criminal code, according to Jolley.

He called the case "one of the most heroic acts of self-preservation" he had ever seen.

"Her grit, determination, and will to live appear to be what saved her that night," Jolley added. "Christine was justified in taking any and all means necessary to defend herself and her son that night."

Biden Isn't ‘Examining' A Border Shutdown. He's Buying Time Before November
[Federalist] Any news outlet supposedly taking it seriously that President Biden is "examining" his authority to protect U.S. territory from foreign invaders is immediately identifiable as a White House accomplice to buy Biden more time before the election. That’s all they’re doing for him, and it’s not up for debate.

Biden said in an interview this week that he’s "examining whether or not I have that power" to prevent migrants from illegally forcing themselves across the Southern border, a calamity he is directly responsible for and which he has done nothing of substance to mitigate.

During a 2020 Democrat primary debate, Biden said the United States "should immediately have the capacity to absorb" hordes of migrants making their way north from Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. In another debate, he said, "We’re a nation that says if you want to flee and you’re fleeing oppression, you should come."

They heard him. They came. Thus began Biden’s reign of border terror. In February 2021, the first full month of his presidency, there were just more than 100,000 illegal migrants apprehended at the border. By December last year, that number had tripled.

The public has gone from concerned to outraged, with immigration surpassing even the economy as Americans’ top concern. Biden hasn’t felt the urgency. To date, his most notable action has been to ask that Congress legalize up to 5,000 illegal border crossers per day. Before that, he asked his ever-competent vice president Kamala Harris to investigate the "root causes" of migration from Central America. (Her staff and activist allies reacted by running to the media complaining the job was too hard.)

After Promising Not To, The IRS Army Democrats Expanded Is Targeting The Middle Class
[Federalist] The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is deploying most of its expanded army of federal tax collectors against the middle class, contradicting Democrats’ promises when they hiked its budget by $80 billion over the next 10 years in 2022.

"President Joe Biden will seek $80 billion to fund enhanced Internal Revenue Service enforcement of high-earners," CNN claimed in 2021. NPR claimed in 2022 that the IRS would spend the money, among other things, on "hiring new enforcement agents" and "auditing the wealthiest Americans." Last month, Bloomberg kept the narrative up, claiming this year’s even higher IRS spending request from the Biden administration was meant to "build[] up its enforcement efforts on wealthy individuals and companies that aren’t paying what they owe."

The IRS last year claimed the extra $80 billion would help the IRS "restore fairness in tax compliance by shifting more attention onto high-income earners, partnerships, large corporations and promoters abusing the nation’s tax laws. The effort... will center on adding more attention on wealthy, partnerships and other high earners that have seen sharp drops in audit rates for these taxpayer segments during the past decade. "

According to a new audit of the agency, as of just less than a year ago, 63 percent of new IRS audit inquiries were to middle-income earners who made less than $200,000.

"Only a small overall share reached the very highest earners, while 80% of audits covered filers earning less than $1 million," the Wall Street Journal editorial board reported last week. "Don’t forget to save those charitable-giving receipts."

'Air Speed - Altitude' shortfall leads to death of Colorado Highway 40 skier
[Daily Caller] A 21-year-old man lost his life Tuesday after attempting to jump across a Colorado highway, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

An unidentified man died while attempting a high-risk ski jump across Colorado’s Highway 40, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. Responders received a call about an unconscious skier who was not breathing. Upon arrival, it was evident that the skier had tried to leap the width of the highway but failed to achieve the necessary speed and distance.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was attempting to perform a high-risk skiing stunt by trying to clear the width of Highway 40 and unfortunately lacked the necessary speed and distance and subsequently landed on the highway pavement," authorities wrote in a Facebook post. "The victim had been wearing a helmet and other protective gear."

Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful, and he was declared dead at the scene. "Emergency responders arrived on scene and determined that the male subject was deceased and the Grand County Coroner’s Office was notified to respond to the scene," the statement read.

Georgia lieutenant governor slams Fani Willis as new prosecutor enters fray: ‘Mockery of this legal process'
[Washington Examiner] A state prosecutor has been appointed in an investigation into Georiga Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones’s alleged role in attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the Peach State.

The Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia announced on Thursday that its executive director, Peter Skandalakis, has been appointed to investigate if Jones violated any criminal laws. No further comment was given on the investigation.

A judge in the state had previously disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from investigating Jones after she sponsored a fundraiser for his Democratic opponent in the lieutenant gubernatorial election in 2022. Willis indicted former President Donald Trump, among other co-conspirators, in a sweeping racketeering indictment last year on charges related to alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

In the sweeping indictment of Trump and others, Jones was referenced 11 times under the pseudonym "unindicted co-conspirator Individual 8." Jones was a state senator during the 2020 election and was elected lieutenant governor in November 2022.

ATF Wants Funding For Data Analysts To Gather Gun Trace Information
[ZERO] The agency included the wish list in Volume III of a four-part report, "National Firearms Commerce and Trafficking Assessment: Firearms Trafficking Investigations."

According to the report, the agency is hobbled by unwieldy databases, outdated processes, and a lack of full-time employees to track firearms from their first point of sale to the time they turn up at crime scenes.

Second Amendment advocates counter that the agency has restrictions on it that prevent it from building a registry of firearms. They say the ATF should be more focused on crime than politics.

"All the federal government needs to do is prosecute those who break these laws," Randy Kozuch, executive director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) said in an email to The Epoch Times.

An ATF spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

The report draws data from 9,708 ATF firearm trafficking investigations conducted between 2017 and 2021, according to a statement on the ATF webpage.

It found nearly 230,000 trafficked guns in 7,779 cases between 2017 and 2021. On average, 16 firearms were found per investigation—almost 60 percent of the cases involved five or fewer guns, gun parts, or regulated accessories.

Dealing firearms without a license was the most common trafficking-related crime reported. This has become something of a hot-button issue for Second Amendment advocates.

Gun rights advocates who spoke with The Epoch Times dismissed the report as evidence that the ATF has been weaponized. They claim that President Joe Biden is pushing an anti-gun agenda by using the ATF to bludgeon legal gun owners and federally licensed dealers (FFLs).

Aidan Johnston, Director of Federal Affairs for Gun Owners of America (GOA), said the ATF’s data belies the agency’s true intention. He pointed to the five or fewer firearms uncovered in the majority of the agency’s investigations.

Military expert Bild: Ukraine has run out of missiles for Patriot and Iris-T
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Ukraine has run out of missiles for Patriot, Iris-T and most other air defense systems, Bild military expert Julian Röpke said on the social network H.

“As I said a few weeks ago (and almost no one believed me): Ukraine is running out of Patriot and Iris-T missiles. Most other air defense stocks have also been depleted or destroyed. And this despite the fact that we have hundreds of systems and thousands of missiles in our warehouses. There are no words. Just anger,” he wrote.

As Regnum news agency reported, on April 11, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, informed that the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive attack on the facilities of the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine, the objectives of the strike were achieved, all facilities were hit.

On April 11, Ukrainian media reported that critical infrastructure was struck in Kharkov, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Volyn regions of Ukraine. Before the explosions, an air raid alert was declared throughout Ukraine. Airborne warnings have been sounding in some areas since the evening of April 10.

Later on the same day, the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground, Sergei Lebedev, reported that the strikes were carried out on the Trypilska and Burshtynska thermal power plants, as well as in the village of Mikhailo-Larino, Nikolaev region; power supply disruptions were reported in two areas.

Since October 10, 2022, the Russian military has been attacking energy, defense industry, military command and communications facilities throughout Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov has repeatedly emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces do not strike residential buildings or social infrastructure.

Rep. Mike Garcia slams FBI director as being ineffective at his job: ‘I don't trust you'
[FoxNews] 'I don’t trust you to protect us,' congressman tells FBI's Christopher Wray

Rep. Mike Garcia, R-Calif., blatantly told FBI Director Christopher Wray that he does not trust him, while accusing him of not being transparent and standing "relatively silent" about the southern border instead of helping to shape policies on the matter, particularly regarding national security.

Wray met with the House Appropriations subcommittee on Thursday afternoon urging Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to be reauthorized by Congress and to discuss next year’s budget, and while some of the discussion involved dollar figures, the FBI director was there to defend efforts to fend off terrorist attacks and the infiltration of the U.S. by violent gangs through the southern border, many of which are connected to the fentanyl epidemic.

When it was time for Garcia to question Wray, the Congressional representative did not hold back.

Ryabkov: Russia fears that US plans to deploy missiles in the Asia-Pacific region are irreversible
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

DoD to Rossiya: they are.

[Regnum] Russia fears that Washington's decision to deploy medium-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region is irreversible. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov.

“ I think that the US’s determination to acquire such potential and use it within the framework of the concept of dual deterrence is irreversible,” RIA Novosti quotes Ryabkov as saying.

As Regnum reported, Washington intends to deploy medium-range missile systems in the Asia-Pacific region by 2024.

A representative of the US Army Pacific Command told RIA Novosti that “everything is going according to plan” to achieve its goals of marking the missiles by the end of the year. Such a step, according to experts, will be aimed at containing China.

The US is believed to be considering deploying the Typhon ground-launched medium-range missile system, which is being developed by the US Army and could be equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of more than 1,600 km and the new SM6 interceptor missile. They were successfully tested in 2023.

The installation of missiles in the region will be the first since the US and Russia signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty) in 1987. The INF Treaty previously prohibited the two countries from possessing ground-launched medium-range ballistic and cruise missiles with a range of 500 to 5,500 km.

American authorities intend to strengthen containment of China. To this end, they plan to deploy intermediate-range missiles to the Indo-Pacific region in 2024, US Army Pacific Command spokesman Rob Phillips said in December 2023.

Experts suggested that the missiles would be deployed primarily at American bases on the island of Guam. The media wrote that Japan and the Philippines, with which the United States is developing security cooperation, are reluctant to accept new American military capabilities on their territory for fear of becoming a target for China in the event of an armed conflict in the region.

SSNP ambulance torched in Bayssour after Jdita incident
[An Nahar] A parked ambulance belonging to the Syrian Social Nationalist Party has been torched in the Aley district town of Bayssour, a day after gunmen fired shots at the party’s office in Bekaa’s Jdita, where they also hung a Lebanese Forces flag.

The Progressive Socialist Party and other parties condemned the Bayssour incident and warned of attempts to stir strife in the country amid the tensions that followed the murder of LF official Pascal Sleiman in the Jbeil district.

The SSNP pointed the finger at the Lebanese Forces in the Jdita attack, but the LF denied its involvement in the incident and condemned it.

“Confronting the sedition that is moving from one Lebanese region to another has become the duty of us all. Our approach in political action does not involve the use of arms and we’re among the fiercest opponents of the approach of weapons,” the LF said in a statement.

California GOP leaders call for accountability after state can't account for $24B spent on homeless crisis
[FoxNews] The state auditor found that despite roughly $24 billion spent on homeless and housing programs during the 2018-2023 fiscal years, the problem didn’t improve in many cities.

California GOP leaders are calling for more accountability after an audit released earlier this week indicated that the state spent around $24 billion to tackle the homeless crisis over the past five years but did not consistently track whether the huge outlay of public money did anything to actually improve the problem.

The state auditor’s report found that despite roughly $24 billion spent on homeless and housing programs during the 2018-2023 fiscal years, the problem didn’t improve in many cities, according to the state auditor’s report.

Among other things, the report found that the California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), which is responsible for coordinating agencies and allocating resources for the homelessness programs, stopped tracking whether the programs were working in 2021.
To be fair, it’s kind of hard to track the homeless when you can’t leave home to see where the clients are.

#6  How much is the state budget deficit? Seems like audits are in order across the board.
Posted by: Super Hose || 04/12/2024 11:34 Comments || Top||

#7  My guess, having watched the way politicians operate in this state for decades, is that most of the money went to developers. The scam is: politicians scream about the need for more "affordable" housing for the homeless. Then they contract with developers to build "affordable" housing at half a million dollars or more per unit. Of course the units are not really affordable at all but no matter. The developers get rich and then contribute to the politicians' election campaigns.

It's all perfectly legal because the politicians write the law that way. It's been happening this way for decades. As long as I can remember, and that's a long time, they've been screaming about affordable housing. They've been building as many houses as they can as fast as they can, making a mess of this state and overloading the infrastructure, and yet housing costs continue to sky rocket. It's all a scam.

The pure folly of it is that the kind of people who become homeless are mentally ill drug addicts who are incapable of managing their own affairs. They need to be incarcerated and supervised in dormitories, barracks or tent cities out in the boondocks so they won't be a threat to normal citizens. If you leave them unsupervised in an apartment, condo or house they will destroy it and most likely damage neighboring properties in the process.

The truth is, the only way to make California affordable for all the people all over the world who want to live here is to turn it into the kind of slum where nobody wants to live. Newsom and his pals are dead set on doing just that.

'Ohio's Sherman House Museum displays humanity, artistry of fearsome Civil War general
[FoxNews] Gen. Sherman born in Ohio, lost father at age 9, patron of theater, 'Uncle Billy' to his men.

Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman lives on as a larger-than-life figure in the oft-told annals of American military history.

The most intimate and unknown details of the man behind the legend are uncovered at the Sherman House Museum in Lancaster, Ohio.

It opens for the season today, Wednesday, April 10.

"Sometimes we turn these heroes, like we’ve done with George Washington, almost into gods. I think that does a disservice to them," Michael Johnson, director of the Sherman House Museum, told Fox News Digital.

"I think it needs to be presented that these were ordinary people who did extraordinary things when the moment came, and that’s what set them apart."

Sherman was born in the home in 1820 and lived there until his father died when the future West Point cadet and U.S. Army legend, one of 11 children, was just 9 years old.

The general has long been remembered as a fearsome military commander, which included a notorious reputation in the American south.

But the legend of the warrior overshadows the thoughtful artist discovered at the Sherman House Museum: patron of the theater, Renaissance man and beloved old commander called "Uncle Billy" by his men long after the war.

The museum displays a copy of Sherman's brilliant illustration, "Death of Centaur," which he drew while a cadet at the United States Military Academy.

Quoting the words of my Southern side Grandfather.

"Nothing honoriable about the man."

Looking what he pack of animal did, one can easily see Sherman was the leader of an pack of Terrorists and should have been put on trial for war crimes.

His group killed 1000's of non-combatants / civilians during his march through GA.

His pack of animals stole food, straved civilians, conducted summary executions w/o a trial. Raped females of any age, color, free or slave.
Even at the Officer rank levels

His pack of Terrorists locked people in the barns and burned them alive.

Plus many of the slaves his pack of Terrorists claimed to have "freed", where then used by his own troops as slave labor to move supplies and then fed little and abandoned when they could no longer do the job. Yes many died.

#4  I'm sure Southerners look upon Sherman like Japanese look upon Curtis LaMay. Lesson here is don't bombard a federal military installation.

As for tax revenue, seems the national government keep rolling without collecting that revenue from 1861 on. As for slavery, the simple fact that the 13th Amendment could never pass in 1860 but did in 1865 says it all.

The problem for the south was that they had a ruling class much like that which we have today. They were not going to give up the power they had which was largely dependent upon that way of doing business. They were able to exploit local tribalism to sacrifice way too many of their brethren to keep that power. Sounds way too familiar to us from this perspective.

Ghost Amendment

US House and Senate plus President Buchanan approved it.
Purposed by Northerns, mainly NORTHERN STATES voted to and accept the amendment BEFORE the Civil War started. Then ONLY after the Union Army finally started winning some battles did a number vote to recind it?

Incoming Linclon even verbally stated his supported it.

Corwin Amendment Text
"No amendment shall be made to the Constitution which will authorize or give to Congress the power to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labor or service by the laws of said State."

Yes, you read it right, OK to keep slaves and indetured servants.
Why was it purposed by the Northern Politicians,?
Northern Elite & Businesses had a lot of indetured servants and several NORTHERN States allowed Slavery.

Summary: The Corwin Amendment is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution that has never finally adopted. However, owing to the absence of a ratification deadline, could still be adopted by the state legislatures.

Wondering Outloud
Could DC renew it maybe it for others reasons?

#11  Sherman said that if the U.S. had lost the war he would be prosecuted for war crimes. Union artillery had barely gotten into range of Atlanta when, on July 19, 1864, Sherman ordered a bombardment of the city's buildings: "No consideration must be paid to the fact they are occupied by families, but the place must be cannonaded." The Yankee guns fired their first shells on July 20, and within a few days, Confederate newspapers began reporting casualties.

#12  ...My current residence is almost within sight of where Sherman oversaw the bombardment of Columbia, and the hits on the State House are commemorated by bronze stars set into the structure (NOTE: Sherman had lousy gunners by that point of the war; they were firing over open sights from just over a mile away and barely nicked it.)

Had Sherman not taken Atlanta and began his march to the sea, the Civil War wouldn't have ended for at least another 18 months past when it did - October of 1866. The March tore out the heart of the Confederacy, and destroyed literal years worth of supplies and food, as well as the means to transport them to the troops. Had those supplies and support still been available, even Robert Lee might not have been able to convince his men not to melt into the hills and fight a guerilla war.

And who knows what the CSA would have done had they managed to drive the war into Union territory. Do you think they would have outlawed slaveholding as a matter of philosophy had they won the war? Or the North indentured servitude? States’ Rights or no, making people legally chattel is an abomination.

#15  The town of Lawrence, Kansas, was a center of anti-slavery sentiment. In August 1863, Quantrill led an attack on the town, killing more than 180 civilians.

The Confederate government, which had granted Quantrill a field commission under the Partisan Ranger Act, was outraged and withdrew support for such irregular forces. By 1864 Quantrill had lost control of the group, which split up into small bands.

#18  War is cruelty. You cannot refine it. Humanitarian catastrophe is not a recent invention of the Juice.

I can understand how some people might regard Sherman as a monster. He did harsh things but some insight into the man's character can be found in his letter to the Mayor of Atlanta where he lays out his case for making war. It is blunt, but the conclusion reads as follows:

I want peace, and believe it (can) only be reached through union and war, and I will ever conduct war with a view to perfect and early success.
But my dear sirs when Peace does come, you may call on me for any thing-Then I will share with you the last cracker, and watch with you to shield your homes and families against danger from every quarter.

Now you must go, and take with you the old and feeble, feed and nurse them, and build for them, in more quiet places, proper habitations to shield them against the (wea)ther until the mad passions of men cool down, and allow the Union and (pe)ace once more to settle over your old homes at Atlanta. Yrs., in haste,

W.T. Sherman

FSB prevents a terrorist attack at a Russian Armed Forces facility in Donetsk
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The FSB stopped the activities of a terrorist cell that was planning a terrorist attack on a Russian Armed Forces (AF) facility in Donetsk. The group included six citizens of one of the Central Asian states, the intelligence service’s public relations center reported on April 11.

“On April 11, 2024, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation suppressed the activities of a terrorist cell consisting of six citizens of one of the Central Asian states, whose members were planning to commit a terrorist act against a facility of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stationed in the city of Donetsk,” the statement said.

The FSB clarified that during operational search activities it was established that the coordination of the activities of the terrorist group was carried out from the territory of Ukraine.

As reported by IA Regnum, earlier on the same day, the Federal Security Service reported that it had stopped the activities of a native of one of the Central Asian countries who was planning a terrorist attack in a religious Jewish institution in Moscow.

A native of Central Asia who was preparing a terrorist attack in a synagogue in Moscow was killed during his arrest.

Also on April 11, it became known that the FSB and the Ministry of Defense stopped the landing of sabotage groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces special forces on the Tendrovskaya Spit in the Kherson region, planned by the British special services. The Ukrainian Armed Forces landing force was destroyed, one Ukrainian citizen, a senior soldier of the 73rd Naval Center of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was taken prisoner. According to the prisoner of war, British intelligence services provided the special forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with irrelevant information for the landing on the Tendrovskaya spit in the Kherson region.

FSB: those planning the terrorist attack in Donetsk wanted to go to Turkey, and then to Ukraine

The terrorists who planned to commit a crime in Donetsk then planned to travel to Turkey and from there to Ukraine. The plans of the detained members of the group were told at the FSB Public Relations Center (FSB TsOS).

Involvement in the planned terrorist attack is confirmed by the fact that two improvised explosive devices, ready for use, as well as hand grenades were discovered at the suspects’ place of residence.

“After committing a crime in the Russian Federation, the participants planned to travel to Turkey and then cross to Ukraine,” the law enforcement agency explained.

Mali bans political party activities as calls for elections grow
[AFRICANEWS] Malian authorities on Wednesday issued a decree banning political party activities amid calls on the ruling army junta to organize elections.

The announcement was made by the government spokesperson on state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
on Wednesday evening. Abdoulaye Maiga said the ban on political activities was made in the interest of maintaining public order.

The statement did not specify any threats to public order emanating from political parties.

There was no indication on when the suspension would be lifted.

Mali has been under army rule since August 2020. Last September, the junta indicated it would renege on a promise to organise elections meant to bring back civilian rule this past February citing technical reasons.

No new election promises have been made.

After the March transition deadline passed without a vote, many political parties and civil society organizations reacted by demanding elections.

Nunchuck-wielding maniac attacks podcaster, is promptly cut loose by NYC judge who also freed alleged subway assailant
[NY Post] A nunchuck-wielding nutjob with a lengthy rap sheet attacked a podcaster in Midtown — but was promptly cut loose with no bail by a Manhattan judge, The Post has learned.

Bryant Kenyatta, 50, apparently left podcaster Stevie Lew with a fractured arm in the unprovoked attack at Seventh Avenue and 35th Street around noon March 12 — after following Lew and screaming, “F–k you! I’m going to f–k you up,” the victim said on a podcast.

But Kenyatta — who has 12 prior arrests — was put back on the streets Tuesday on supervised release by Judge Marva Brown, the same judge who made headlines two months ago for setting another alleged violent attacker free.

Nobody cares what Yonkers thinks: Yonkers City Council drops ceasefire resolution opposed by pro- and anti-Israel groups
[IsraelTimes] Advocates from both sides threaten to protest the vote in the large NYC suburb after the council spent months trying to land on language both sides could agree on

After months of discussions and weeks of debate, the Yonkers City Council has shelved a Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
ceasefire resolution that aimed to thread a narrow needle — calling for an end to the Israel-Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
war while also defending Israel’s right to exist. The council announced that it would set aside the resolution at the start of the meeting Tuesday evening when it had been on the agenda. The move followed opposition from all sides in Yonkers.

Despite having called for months for a ceasefire, a coalition of pro-Paleostinian organizations, including an anti-Zionist Jewish group, protested the proposed resolution. The Yonkers Ceasefire Coalition called it a "Zionist resolution," condemned it as a "distorted version of the original resolution that appears to minimize the severity of the atrocities" and put forward its own draft that removes language recognizing Israel’s right to exist.
A definite sticking point for the pro-Israel side, except for those only pretending to be pro-Israel.
Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Don Smilzo looked for an avenue of escape. The only window opened a hundred feet above the moat. The nearest of the hired assassins hold a bloody axe.
The window was looking better all the time....

a deluge of emails from Jewish residents had also filled the council’s inbox protesting the move to call for a ceasefire at all.

Both groups announced their intention to protest during the meeting, leaving the council unwilling to proceed with the resolution.

"My position is, if the group that asked for the resolution does not support it because it doesn’t go as far as they want, and the Jewish community does not support it because they don’t want a ceasefire without the release of hostages, which is totally understandable, then why are we bringing this to a vote?" City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy told the New York Jewish Week before the meeting.

The dispute over the resolution in a large New York City suburb reflects shifting rhetoric surrounding the Israel-Hamas war six months after it began on October 7 with the Hamas-led invasion of Israel that saw 1,200 people in the country’s south butchered, and another 253 kidnapped to the Gaza Strip. A number of cities have passed ceasefire resolutions. But while competing texts have been put before some city councils, the debates until now have mainly focused on whether or not to call for a ceasefire.

The Yonkers debate, by contrast, comes at a time when calls to stop or at least immediately pause the fighting have gained increasing purchase among US politicians as well as left-wing pro-Israel groups. Jewish groups on the center and right have generally opposed ceasefire calls. Israel and Hamas have been engaging in indirect talks over a ceasefire for months; this week, Hamas again rejected an Israeli proposal for a pause in the fighting.

Collins-Bellamy said that in addition to the pro-Paleostinian protest, members of the Jewish community had sent around 1,000 emails to the city council opposing the measure. Thirty Yonkers community members signed up to speak at the council meeting and Collins-Bellamy believed all planned to oppose the resolution.

The draft that the council would have considered was in line with the stance of left-wing Jewish groups and many Democratic officials, who have stood behind Israel’s right to exist while increasingly opposing the continuation of the war.

The draft resolution holds Hamas responsible for the outbreak of the conflict due to its devastating October 7 massacre, decries the "unjust captivity" of 129 remaining Israeli hostages; mourns the killing of Israelis; and recognizes the right of Israelis to "live in Israel in peace and the existence of the democratic Jewish state."

The text also acknowledges the tens of thousands of Paleostinians killed and injured, enumerates a right to Paleostinian self-determination and calls for an end to the suffering and displacement in Gaza.

"The City Council of Yonkers believes that all human life is precious," the resolution says. "We acknowledge the immediate need for a ceasefire," it continues, adding calls to facilitate humanitarian aid, return the hostages, and halt the displacement and violence against Paleostinians.

Collins-Bellamy said "the tide has shifted" since the start of the war, when supporters of Israel were more firmly behind Israel’s effort to fight back. The mounting civilian corpse count "tugs at people’s heartstrings," she said, and a growing number of Democratic politicians have endorsed a ceasefire.

"They made it OK as opposed to taboo to say, ’Hey, Israel, maybe we even take a temporary break to get the hostages released and get some humanitarian aid in there,’" she said.

Collins-Bellamy said the council had been approached by the pro-Paleostinian activists about a ceasefire resolution in January. Collins-Bellamy said she had little knowledge of the conflict at that point and began to do research to formulate a resolution. But successive drafts floated by the council were rejected by the activist group.

"They still are opposing it because it is not the version that they drafted," Collins-Bellamy told the New York Jewish Week on Tuesday, adding that the alternate resolution the pro-Paleostinian coalition drafted would likely only receive two votes on the seven-seat council.

"I asked them, ’Do you want a resolution that says explicitly what you asked for but will be voted down?’" she said. "We are absolutely condemning Hamas and they don’t want us to go that route and they want us to use language that is more harsh toward Israel."

This week, the activists called to "flood" the city hall in protest ahead of the vote, using a term commonly employed by pro-Paleostinian activists that echoes Hamas’s name for the October 7 attack, "Al-Aqsa Flood."

The campaign is led by a group called the Yonkers Ceasefire Coalition that includes Jewish Voice for Peace Westchester, an anti-Zionist group; the local chapter of Democratic Socialists of America; Westchester for Paleostine; and WESPAC, a nonprofit that facilitates funding for prominent pro-Paleostinian groups around the United States.

Hadil Sam, an activist with the group, said the coalition had gone back and forth with the City Council over the resolution’s text for months and had offered alternatives.

"They went with one that is very biased and does not represent the community," Sam told the New York Jewish Week. "They don’t really want to work with us, they just want to put something out there that says ’ceasefire.’"

The activists took issue with the city council’s call to recognize Israel’s existence, saying the demand would "force Paleostinians to accept their status as non-citizens, second-class citizens, and refugees in their own land, with no national rights and no right of return." Arab citizens of Israel have equal rights under the law, though many have protested discrimination. Most Israelis view advocacy for a Paleostinian right of return as tantamount to calling for the end of Israel as a Jewish-majority state.

The pro-Paleostinian activists also objected to blaming Hamas for the outbreak of the conflict and not calling for the "release of Paleostinian hostages" — an apparent reference to prisoners detained by Israeli forces on security offenses. Sam said the group also objected to the draft’s leaving out an "explicit description of the violence that Israel has been committing."

Sam said the statement supporting Israel’s existence was outside the scope of the resolution, and that she felt the clause in support of Paleostinian self-determination was insufficient because it focused on only Gaza.

"This is a ceasefire resolution, we’re not talking about declaring states," Sam said.

The alternate resolution from the coalition, drafted last week, calls to "recognize the rights of Paleostinians and Israelis to live with respect, dignity, freedom, and self-determination"; focuses more extensively on Paleostinian casualties; condemns the killing of civilians and "collective punishment"; urges the release of hostages and Paleostinian political prisoners; and calls for a permanent ceasefire.

The Westchester Jewish Council issued a "call to action" urging followers to gather outside City Hall, around the same time pro-Paleostinian activists planned to at the same location.

One of the people who signed up to speak on behalf of the Jewish council was Rabbi Bini Krauss, principal of the Orthodox SAR Academy, located blocks outside of Yonkers’ borders in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. He planned to call attention to the hostages held by Hamas — including US citizens — in opposing the ceasefire resolution.

"How can we call for a ceasefire when our fellow Americans are being held and tortured?" Krauss said he planned to say in his remarks to the council. "This council, by rejecting a resolution being furthered by those who do not respect the right of Israel to exist, will stand on the right side of decency, of justice, and of history."

Phylisa Wisdom, the executive director of the New York Jewish Agenda liberal advocacy group, said she was dismayed by both sides’ opposition to the resolution. Wisdom’s group has advocated for a ceasefire that includes the release of hostages since early in the war.

"I am surprised and disappointed that anyone who wants peace and for this war to end would reject such a statement," she told the New York Jewish Week, adding that ceasefire resolutions earlier in the war had aimed to simply gather as much support for the measures as possible.

"I understand that there’s a lot of specifics around what a ceasefire could look like," she said, "but for those who are interested in freeing the hostages, in getting aid into Gaza, in stopping the hunger and death of Paleostinians in Gaza, I really don’t know how you could oppose a statement like this."

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 11, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:25 Putin said at a meeting with Lukashenko that Russia is ready for negotiations on Ukraine. At the same time, he criticized the format of the future conference in Switzerland: “The idea is being promoted to hold some kind of conference in Switzerland. We are not invited there. Moreover, they believe that we have nothing to do there. At the same time, they say that it is impossible to solve anything without us , and since we are not going there, this is already some kind of panopticon. They say that we refuse negotiations. They don’t invite us, but they say that we refuse. Once again I want to emphasize what we are for. But not in the format of imposing any "these are schemes that have nothing to do with reality."

21:34 The United States has allocated $138 million for the modernization of Ukrainian air defense systems, said the American Ambassador in Kiev Bridget Brink: “Today we signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with $138 million for the critical modernization of air defense systems. This funding will help maintain the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense in the face of Russia's relentless attacks on the energy grid and the Ukrainian people."

20:19 As a result of the attack on April 11, the Russians completely destroyed the Trypillya thermal power plant in the Kiev region - the largest in the region. Details and consequences are in the material Liquidation of the Trypillya Thermal Power Plant .

20:03 The editor of Radio Liberty in Brussels, Ricard Jozwiak, called the European Parliament’s refusal to approve funding for the Council of Europe until the EU countries transfer Patriot systems to Ukraine as “political theater.” According to him, at the meeting they talked about simply closing accounts, and the money itself has already been spent.

19:48 Ukraine has a critical situation - both with shells at the front and with air defense systems. Bild journalist Julian Röpke, who monitors military operations in our country, said that Ukraine has “practically run out” of missiles for the Patriot and Iris-T air defense systems. Meanwhile, EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell called on EU countries to find available air defense systems and ammunition as soon as possible and transfer them to Ukraine. Read more in the material Critical situation .

19:37 Russia used its new X-69 cruise missiles to attack the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant in the Kiev region, writes the specialized publication Defense Express, citing sources. The launch range of these missiles is about 400 km. This is a subsonic cruise missile for tactical aircraft. It can be launched from Su-34 and Su-35 aircraft, and it is the Kh-69 that should become the main cruise missile for the Su-57.

This is not the first time the X-69 has been used to strike Ukraine. The first mention of their use appeared in February 2024, and there were isolated cases as early as 2023. The main feature of the rocket is the possibility of ultra-low flight at an altitude of 20 meters, which is lower than the capabilities of the X-101. Despite the fact that this missile is subsonic and has a smaller warhead than the Kinzhal, its use by the enemy could have worse consequences, analysts say.

Indonesia ready to normalize ties with Israel as part of bid to join OECD – official
[IsraelTimes] Head of economic forum said to broker deal that could see world’s largest Moslem nation establish relationship in exchange for Jerusalem smoothing way into developed countries club
Does that mean Indonesia would be kicked out again when they return to being horrible?
Indonesia could normalize ties with Israel as part of a deal to smooth the entry of the world’s most populous Moslem nation into a global forum for developed countries, an Israeli official said Thursday.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed a report in Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth detailing months of hush-hush talks between Jerusalem, Jakarta, and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.

Normalization would mark a stunning about-face for Indonesia at a time when anti-Israel sentiment in the Moslem world is running higher than it has in years due to the war in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip.

But establishing ties would also spell an end to Israeli opposition to Indonesia joining the OECD, according to the report.

The OECD began the process of adding Jakarta to the 38-nation forum in February, but Israel had reportedly objected to its accession due to the lack of diplomatic relations. Countries must receive unanimous support to join the bloc, which is dedicated to advancing economic growth via neo-liberal fiscal policies.

Cormann initially secured a promise from Indonesia to shift its critical stance toward Israel, but Foreign Minister Israel Katz balked at pulling Jerusalem’s opposition, saying normalization would be needed, Yedioth reported.

After several weeks of negotiations, Cormann sent a letter to Katz two weeks ago in which he said he had brokered an agreement according to which Indonesia will not be allowed to join the bloc until it has normalized ties, the paper said. The wording of the letter was approved by Indonesia, according to Yedioth.

An OECD spokesperson noted the adoption of a multi-year accession roadmap for Indonesia by the OECD Council on March 29. The roadmap includes the requirement that candidates "demonstrate ... like-mindedness in their statements and actions in their relations with the Organisation and its Members."

"Any decision to invite Indonesia to become an OECD Member would need to be taken by unanimity of all OECD Members," the spokesperson said.

There was no comment on the report from authorities in Indonesia.

On Tuesday, Israel allowed Indonesia to participate in an airdrop relief mission over Gaza for the first time, a possible signal of burgeoning ties.

Under outgoing Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Indonesia tolerated low-level, quiet contacts with Israel, mainly on trade, but largely shunned open ties with the Jewish state.

In March, Widodo’s office denied a report
No, no! Certainly not!
that Jakarta and Jerusalem had intended to normalize relations in October 2023 before the October 7 Hamas
...a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
attack in Israel and the resulting war caused the plan to be shelved, the Jakarta Post reported.

Moves toward normalization between the countries have been rumored for years, but Indonesia has refused to cement ties until an independent Paleostinian state is established and has been a staunch supporter of the Paleostinians. The country has a tiny Jewish community.

Anti-Israel protests are common in Indonesia, where support for the Paleostinians runs high.

In March last year, the country was stripped of its role as host of the men’s Under-20 World Cup amid massive domestic opposition to the participation of an Israeli soccer team in the tourney.

Even without official ties, direct and indirect Israel-Indonesia trade comes to about $500 million per year, Israel-Asia Center executive director Rebecca Zeffert told The Times of Israel in 2022.

Widodo has repeatedly condemned the violence in Gaza and has urged parties to "stop the escalation, to stop the use of violence, to focus on humanitarian issues, and to solve the root of the problem, namely the Israeli occupation of Paleostine."

In January, Jakarta filed a case against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. It has also backed South Africa’s genocide accusation at that court over Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza.

IDF launches ‘targeted operation’ in central Gaza’s Nuseirat after heavy bombardment
[IsraelTimes] Military: Strikes on dozens of targets based on intelligence of ’terror infrastructure’ in area largely passed over by soldiers until now; troops also find several rocket launchers

Strip overnight, pushing into an area on the outskirts of the Nuseirat refugee camp largely left untouched by troops until now.

Heavy Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s and artillery shelling pounded parts of the camp before troops moved into the area, which sits adjacent to the lone corridor where Israeli soldiers remain in Gaza.

Paleostinians said a strike on a residential building killed at least five people, and other apartment towers were also struck.

The Israel Defense Forces said the air force and artillery troops carried out strikes against dozens of Hamas targets, including tunnel infrastructure. The navy also carried out artillery strikes near the coast to support ground troops, the IDF said.

The operation followed intelligence indicating "the presence of terror infrastructure and many bandidos gunnies in the area," the army said.

Soldiers engaged with armed fighters during the night, including a gunman who emerged from a tunnel and was hit with an airstrike, according to the IDF. Troops also located several rocket launchers in the area.

Hamas-linked media reported heavy fighting in the area was continuing Thursday.

There were also reports of airstrikes in other parts of the Strip, particularly the south, with the Paleostinian Maan News Agency reporting that 122 people were killed in Gaza over the previous 24 hours.

Israel has not previously operated on the ground in Nuseirat, though last month Hamas’s third-in-command, Marwan Issa, was killed in an airstrike in the area.

The operation occurred as Israel has appeared to dial back the use of ground troops and shift from a wide-scale offensive to pinpoint operations. This was in line with US demands for changes to the way fighting is taking place amid international concern over the deaths of civilians in the Strip and claims of near-famine conditions.

Just one brigade — comprising several thousand troops — remains in the Strip, where it is holding an east-west corridor that essentially splits the enclave into two.

At the height of the IDF’s offensive against Hamas, it had multiple divisions — with roughly 30,000-40,000 troops — in the Strip.

Israeli officials have said that 18 of Hamas’s 24 original battalions in the Gaza Strip have been dismantled, meaning they do not function as an organized military unit, although smaller cells still exist.

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

, Israel has repeatedly said it was also ready to confront Hezbollah and has stepped up strikes, including in Syria, in recent weeks.

An Israeli army statement said the army had "struck military infrastructure that based on precise intelligence was used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization on the Syrian front."

The military released a video of a strike against a building.

Israel has been waging one major campaign against Hamas in Gaza since the October 7 attacks by the group last year and international concern has been expressed about the possible spread of the conflict.

The Israeli army said it "holds the Syrian regime accountable for all activities which take place within its territory and will not allow for any attempted actions which could lead to the entrenchment of Hezbollah on the Syrian front."

"In parallel, in the past hours, the IDF (Israeli army) struck a number of Hezbollah observation posts and terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon," the statement added.

"Throughout the day, IDF artillery struck to remove threats in the areas of Dhayra and Tayr Harfa in southern Lebanon," the statement said.

On Tuesday, Israel said its warplanes had hit a Syrian military position in response to rocket fire from southern Syria on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britannia, said Israeli jets staged raids in Syria on Tuesday and late Monday.

and Hezbollah to fire rockets onto the Golan Heights, the observatory said.

The Israeli army has staged hundreds of strikes inside Syria since the country's civil war started in 2011, notably hitting pro-Iranian targets.

On April 1, an Israeli strike on an Iranian embassy consular building in Damascus killed 16 people including seven members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, according to the observatory. Israel has not commented on the attack.
The Times of Israel adds:
The IDF says it struck three buildings used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon’s Mays al-Jabal, Yarine and Khiam a short while ago.

Another Hezbollah observation post was struck in Marwahin, the IDF says.

Troops also shelled areas near Abou Chach with artillery to “remove threats,” the IDF adds.

Africa Horn
Burhan excludes unsupportive political forces from future Sudanese government
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said on Wednesday that those who did not support Sudan during the current conflict with an armed opposition group will have no role in the country’s future leadership.

Addressing worshippers at a Gedaref mosque, al-Burhan stressed that "the state will only be run by those who have withstood the injustice and violations."

He stated that there would be no discussion about the return of democratic rule until the conflict ended. He said the conflict had exposed who truly supported Sudan, both domestically and internationally.

The military leader performed Eid al-Fitr prayers in Um Shajara, Gedaref, following a recent drone attack on the city.

Al-Burhan’s remarks suggest the military’s continued opposition to including civilian forces from the previous transitional government. They had previously proposed a technocratic government to be followed by elections.

Al-Burhan’s remarks confirm the military’s stance against further participation by civilian forces that signed the Political Framework Agreement in December 2022. The military previously proposed a technocratic government followed by an elected one.

The military accuses the Forces for Freedom and Change coalition of backing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the Sudanese army. The military views itself as the defender of national illusory sovereignty.

Al-Burhan said, "Everyone now understands that this armed opposition group must be completely defeated." He added, "The people deserve reassurance that the armed forces, with the support of civilian backers and local communities, can end the conflict and defeat this group."

He continued, expressing confidence in a swift victory, indicating the conflict with the RSF would end with the military’s triumph.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] The FSB in the Smolensk region released an archive about the executions of Poles by the Nazis and the falsification of the Katyn case. Copies of unique historical documents were transferred to the OGKU "State Archive of Contemporary History of the Smolensk Region" as part of the project "Without a Statute of Limitations"

Start. Part 1.

This declassified archive includes working documents from 1944-1945 of the Smersh counterintelligence departments - certificates, interrogation reports, intelligence data, special messages to the Center.
The most interesting part of the declassified archive is the protocol of interrogations of Poles🇵🇱 who served in the Wehrmacht in auxiliary and construction military units of Smolensk and the Smolensk region.

For example, a native of Poland, ethnic Pole Eduard Potkansky, who served at the Krasny Bor station in the Smolensk region, in a separate labor battalion, testified as follows during interrogations.

“In the summer of 1943, the Germans decided to show the participants of the working battalion the graves of Polish officers in the Katyn Forest. According to the Germans, up to 12 thousand executed Polish officers lay in these graves, and up to 3 thousand more people are in another place, and these graves have not yet been opened “

What struck him,” Potkansky recalled, was that near the graves lay officer belongings, personal letters and documents of officers, as well as Polish cash. Moreover, what most struck those who examined these “evidence” was that the cash was brand new, absolutely not from everyday circulation. And even more so - not after being in the ground for 4 years, since 1939, when, according to the Germans, the NKVD officers shot Polish officers.

Another prisoner of war, Roman Kowalski, who also inspected this mass grave in the Katyn forest, testified that “from the majority of the corpses of those executed [it was] clear that these were very recent victims. In the published lists of executed Polish officers in Katyn, many of our working battalion found their own among the names of the dead acquaintances arrested even earlier by the Gestapo and sent to concentration camps in Germany."

The administrator of Russian workers at the Focke-Wulf plant, a certain Smektal, testified that in April 1943 he was appointed as a delegate of the commission to investigate the massacre of Polish soldiers and officers in Katyn forest.

“One of the leaders of the Pozno SD (security service of the Reichsführer SS - TASS note), Sturmbannführer Gepner, had a conversation with the commission in which he warned that their trip to Katyn had propaganda purposes and that upon returning from there they should declare that they had personally seen 12 thousand corpses of Polish officers. <...> [After returning] the SD obliged the members of the commission to speak before meetings of Polish workers with propaganda reports about the trip to Katyn. The abstracts of the reports were previously edited by the SD"

Also, from Smektal's testimony:

"As a former judicial worker, I was it is clear from the behavior of these “witnesses” that they were specially prepared by the SD... The corpses shown to the commission did not look as if they had lain in the ground for several years... The clothes had not decayed, but on the corpse [of the Polish military leader,General of the Brigade Bronislav] Bogatyrevich, the lower part of his face with a mustache and goatee has been preserved"

The truth is slowly but surely making its way.

FSB declassifies the archive on the Nazi falsification of the Katyn Affair
The Directorate of the Federal Security Service for the Smolensk Region has declassified archival documents about crimes committed by the Nazis in the region during the Great Patriotic War, including materials about the executions of Poles and the falsification of the Katyn Affair by the secret services of the Third Reich.

The documents were transferred to the OGKU “State Archive of Contemporary History of the Smolensk Region” as part of the project “Without a Statute of Limitations,” TASS reports.

The archive includes certificates, intelligence data and special messages from the Smersh counterintelligence agency, which date back to 1944–1945. Most of the documents consist of protocols of interrogations of Poles who served with the Nazis in the Smolensk region, as well as forensic expert of the Budapest City Royal Court Imre Sechodi and a member of the commission investigating the murder of Polish officers in the Katyn Forest Boleslav Smektal and other involved.

...

As reported by IA Regnum, the FSB regularly publishes archival documents about the events of the Great Patriotic War. Thus, in February, materials about the brutal execution of underground members of the Young Guard by the Nazis in the winter of 1943 were declassified. In particular, copies of interrogation protocols of participants in the execution of Oleg Koshevoy, Lyubov Shevtsova and other Young Guards were made public.

On April 11, the FSB declassified documents according to which the German punitive detachments, which the Nazis formed after the occupation of the Smolensk region during the Great Patriotic War, massacred civilians. In particular, more than 1 thousand people were shot in Smolensk, as follows from declassified archival documents.

On January 19, the Russian FSB directorate for the Arkhangelsk region declassified the archival file against a participant in Nazi punitive operations, a native of the Kherson region, Edgard Zeel. He and his accomplices spent them during the Great Patriotic War in the Kamenets-Podolsk region of Ukraine.

According to documents, in January 1944, policeman Seel, together with an SS detachment, took part in a punitive operation against Soviet partisans and civilians in the village of Konevka.

On October 4, 2023, the FSB declassified an archive about the cooperation of the Poles with the Germans in the Stalag-1A concentration camp. According to the documents, the Poles in the Nazi concentration camp earned the right from the Germans to occupy the best places. They were appointed to manage areas - the dining room, bathhouse, warehouse. By currying favor, the Poles received good positions.

FSB declassified documents on mass executions of residents of the Smolensk region by the Nazis
The German punitive detachments that the Nazis formed after the occupation of the Smolensk region during the Great Patriotic War massacred civilians. In particular, more than 1 thousand people were shot in Smolensk, as follows from declassified archival documents.

The regional FSB department declassified the materials and transferred them to the State Archive of Contemporary History of the Smolensk Region as part of the project “Without a Statute of Limitations.” Among them there are testimonies of German tankman Karl Schneider and prisoner of war Heinz Winkler.

“In 1941, our regiment gathered more than one thousand local residents on the outskirts of Smolensk <...> [They] were stripped and took off their shoes, then shot with automatic weapons. Among those shot were women and children,” TASS quotes Schneider as saying.

According to Winkler's testimony, the Wehrmacht military massacred the inhabitants after occupying Smolensk. Gestapo officials and SS troops passing through the city were especially atrocious. At the slightest suspicion, they took entire families out of town and shot them, as stated in a special message from the counterintelligence agency SMERSH.

Several thousand prisoners of war died in the winter of 1941–1942 in the Smolensk camp from cold and hunger.

Captured corporal Hans Farber, who served in a punitive company, spoke about the massacre of residents of one of the villages near Yelnya. In March 1942, partisans settled in the village. The Nazis boarded up houses and set them on fire, resulting in the deaths of residents and 15 partisans who did not have time to hide in the forest. Farber admitted that he was unable to name the number of Soviet citizens killed by the “firing squad,” since “it is significant.”

German units entered Smolensk on July 16, 1941. Soviet troops liberated the region in early October 1943.

As Regnum reported, the FSB regularly publishes archival documents about the events of the Great Patriotic War. In February, materials about the brutal execution of underground members of the Young Guard by the Nazis in the winter of 1943 were declassified. In particular, copies of interrogation protocols of participants in the execution of Oleg Koshevoy, Lyubov Shevtsova and other Young Guards were made public.

'Simple contract' and its consequences. Ukraine could have joined NATO in 1954
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Andrey Zvorykin

[REGNUM] In April, officials at the Brussels headquarters of the North Atlantic Alliance have many reasons for corporate events and mutual congratulations. One after another follows the anniversary of the founding of NATO's European Command and the return of France to the military structure of the bloc, the fifteenth anniversary of the fourth expansion to the east (with the admission of Croatia and Albania to the alliance). But the main, “semicircular” date in Brussels and NATO capitals from Washington to Skopje was celebrated at the beginning of the month. 75 years ago, the North Atlantic Treaty was signed in Washington, marking the beginning of what current NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called “the strongest, most resilient and most successful” military bloc in history.

The treaty for which the organization is named was signed on April 4, 1949, in the giant neoclassical hall of Washington's Departmental Auditorium on Constitution Avenue (now the building bears the name of billionaire Andrew Mellon ) in front of a large crowd of elite guests and in the presence of President Harry Truman.

Conspiracy theorists like to point out the symbolic significance of the site of the Atlantic Pact. When the building was laid in 1932, the cornerstone was presented to then-President Herbert Hoover by the Masters of the Masonic Lodge. But in fact, if the 1949 treaty symbolized anything, it was another milestone in the unfolding Cold War.

The pact of 12 Atlantic powers became a logical continuation of Winston Churchill’s Fulton speech about the Iron Curtain from the Baltic to the Adriatic, the refusal to include the USSR and Eastern Europe in the “Marshall Plan”, the thermonuclear and hydrogen race, plans for war with the USSR (the American “Totality” and the British “Unthinkable” plan "), the first Berlin crisis and the first proxy clash between the Western and Soviet blocs - the Greek Civil War.

The document was signed by Secretary of State Dean Acheson (soon to be one of the “fathers” of the Korean War) and eleven of his colleagues - the foreign ministers of Canada and a dozen Western European states, from pacifist Iceland without an army to semi-fascist Portugal.

The main allies of the United States in the recent anti-Hitler coalition were represented by politicians with a positive “background”: an opponent of the Munich agreement, a man from Churchill’s team, Ernest Bevin, and the chief of French diplomacy, Robert Schumann - who, however, managed to vote for the dictatorial powers of Marshal Philippe Petain, but miraculously avoided being sent to Dachau for connections with the Resistance.

Truman, presenting the text of the treaty, poured out peace-loving rhetoric: “This treaty is a simple document. The nations that signed it undertake to comply with the peace-loving principles of the UN and maintain friendly relations.”

But, as Joseph Stalin noted a little later (responding to the head of the British Foreign Office on the pages of Pravda ), if “the North Atlantic Pact is a defensive pact” and is directed against aggression, then “why didn’t the initiators of this pact invite the Soviet Union to take part in this pact?”
So adorably disingenuous.
The rhetorical question of the Soviet Secretary General was essentially answered by the first Secretary General of NATO, Baron Hastings Lionel Ismay (this British representative headed the alliance until 1957): the goal of the bloc is “to prevent the USSR from entering Europe, to ensure an American presence in it and to contain Germany.”

The “containment” of the Germans, we note, was expressed in the admission of West Germany to the alliance in 1955. This was already the second expansion to the East after the inclusion of Greece and Turkey bordering the USSR (in 1952).

Moreover, a year after Stalin’s death, in March 1954, the Soviet government sent an unexpected note to the United States, Great Britain and France with a request... for the admission of the Soviet Union to NATO.
Still disingenuous. And still aggressive.
This application, submitted on behalf of three UN members - the USSR, the Ukrainian SSR and the Byelorussian SSR, however, could hardly be considered a consequence of the beginning “de-Stalinization”.

At the beginning of 1949, the head of the Soviet Foreign Ministry, Andrei Vyshinsky, through the leadership of the British Communist Party, sent a proposal to the cabinet of Labor member Clement Attlee to discuss Moscow’s participation in NATO’s predecessor, the Western European Union. London's expected refusal gave Stalin a reason to call the Atlantic blocs a “undermining of the UN.”

It seems that the same Vyshinsky (or rather Nikita Khrushchev and Vyacheslav Molotov ) pursued the same goal in 1954. The USSR's gesture demonstrated to the whole world that behind the talk and construction of a security architecture, a military machine is actually being built, in which there is only room for supporters of redividing the world according to their vision.

The point of no return was the inclusion of Germany in the alliance - which crossed out the provision of the Potsdam Treaty on a non-aligned post-war Germany. Already in response to this, the Warsaw Pact Organization was created, and the bipolar split of the world finally took shape.

Formally, the first military action of the alliance was Operation Maritime Monitor in 1992 - the deployment of a NATO naval group led by the American aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt to the Adriatic to enforce the blockade of Yugoslavia.

But in fact, the participation of the European allies and Canada in the Korean War (formally a military action of the UN), and the support that Britain, France, Germany and Italy provided to the United States during the Vietnam War - all this was due, among other things, to obligations under the alliance.

What an attempt to bring the country out of strict subordination to the alliance (theoretically, this is possible thanks to Article 13 of the North Atlantic Treaty) may turn out to be can be clearly seen in France. Charles de Gaulle, who had long sought the same powers that the United States and Great Britain had, became disillusioned and in 1966 announced the withdrawal of the Fifth Republic from the military organization of the alliance, retaining membership only in the political structures of NATO.

De Gaulle lost his post two years later - after ultra-left protests (ironically, many of the leaders of “Red May 1968” would later become systemic Atlanticist politicians and ideologists), and France began to drift back to the alliance. In 1995, Socialist President François Mitterrand returned the country to participation in the development of NATO military plans. In 1997, Gaullist Jacques Chirac made an attempt to bring France back into the military organization of the alliance - but could not agree with Bill Clinton on the division of powers on the southern flank of NATO.

And in 1999, France already fully participated in the aggression against Yugoslavia unleashed by the same Clinton : NATO planes that attacked the defenseless European country took off from both the American aircraft carrier Enterprise and the French Foch.

“Without any resolution of the UN Security Council, they directly began military operations, a war, in fact, in the center of Europe,” noted Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 25th anniversary of the NATO strike on Yugoslavia.

Only in 2009, another Gaullist, Nicolas Sarkozy, de jure approved the return of France to NATO military structures. But to join the “action”, which claimed the lives of 2.5 thousand peaceful Serbs and Montenegrins, no formal decision was required.

Just like Romania - which, without waiting for formal inclusion in the alliance, provided its territory for NATO attacks on Yugoslavia.

Such a development would hardly have been possible if it had not been for the end of the Cold War on Western terms. Let us recall that in 1990, an agreement was concluded between representatives of the USSR, the USA and the Federal Republic of Germany (without the participation of representatives of the GDR) on the unification of Germany under the leadership of the Federal Republic of Germany - that is, in fact, on the annexation of the GDR by West Germany.

Led by Mikhail Gorbachev, the USSR pledged to withdraw troops from East Germany in exchange for a verbal promise from NATO representatives not to expand the alliance’s borders further to the east.

For a long time, the leadership of the alliance completely denied the fact of oral agreements with the head of the USSR. Only in 2018 were documents declassified that contained information that there was an agreement. “We deceived him,” as the theorist of Western geopolitics Zbigniew Brzezinski said about Gorbachev.

As a result, first in 1990, the NATO border moved east to the Oder-Neisse line, the former border of the GDR. And then the alliance began to pick up the legacy of the Warsaw Pact dissolved in July 1991.

To all Russia’s attempts (its applications to join NATO were rejected in 1993 and 2000) to come to an agreement on security issues, the alliance responds with hysterical cries about Russian aggression (exactly repeating NATO’s rhetoric towards the USSR).

In 1999, after the required transition procedures, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic joined NATO, and in 2004 seven more countries, including three former Soviet republics - Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The Kaliningrad region became an enclave surrounded by NATO countries; the border of the alliance with Russia ran along the Narva River, 130 km from St. Petersburg.

Throughout the 90s, zeros and tens, the alliance “digested” the Balkans. In 1995, NATO countries carried out the “Considerate Force” action - aerial bombing of the Bosnian Serbs (152 civilians were killed, 273 were injured). Four years later, the above-mentioned aggression against Yugoslavia followed - Operation Allied Force.

Let us add that during this “action to protect Kosovo Albanians,” which had no military-strategic significance, NATO used prohibited weapons, including shells with depleted uranium.

At the same time, the alliance absorbed the loyal republics of the former Yugoslavia - in 2004, the process of admitting Slovenia ended, in 2009, Croatia was included in NATO (along with Albania, a former neighbor and mortal enemy of Yugoslavia), in 2017, the “master” of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, for his accommodation were rewarded with the inclusion of the republic in the alliance. And finally, in 2020, North Macedonia was admitted to NATO.

Now almost all fragments of dismembered Yugoslavia have the opportunity, as junior partners, to participate in actions to introduce democracy in third world countries. Three such actions can be distinguished since the beginning of the century.

Firstly, this is the Afghan campaign. If we do not count the assistance of NATO countries to the “freedom fighters” - the Mujahideen during the war of 1979–1989 (thanks to which the military-political career of Osama bin Laden was successfully launched ), then October 2001 should be considered the starting point.

During the American Operation Enduring Freedom (2001–2021) and the “work” of NATO members of the International Security Assistance Force, 46,300 civilians were killed. The production of methamphetamine in democratized Afghanistan increased 10-fold in 2017–2021 alone, and by 2018 the share of the Afghan “product” in the global heroin market was 92%.

The ending of the American and NATO operation in Afghanistan is well known. The world will long remember people falling from great heights, trying to cling to taking off planes and service dogs, who were several positions higher on the American evacuation lists than even the British allies.

If NATO entered Afghanistan under the guise of a UN Security Council resolution (adopted, however, only two months after the invasion), then the Americans and their alliance colleagues began the war in Iraq of 2003–2011 without any regard for international law.

Iraq’s “punishment” for the mythical development of weapons of mass destruction (remember Secretary of State Colin Powell ’s test tube that became a meme ) turned into a humanitarian disaster. According to a report from the Iraqi Ministry of Health to WHO alone, up to 203 thousand civilians died during the first stage of “democratization” (2003–2006). According to the non-governmental project Iraq Body Count, by 2011, 1 million 620 thousand people were killed, died from wounds and diseases caused by the war, of which 72% were civilians.

After the bombing, more than 750 hospitals, 3,970 clinics and 5,700 educational institutions were destroyed.

If not all NATO partners took part in the aggression against Iraq (Britain, Turkey, Italy distinguished themselves, including the “newcomer” Poland), then the intervention in Libya of March - October 2011 was already a joint action of the majority of the alliance members. Except perhaps for Germany, which allowed itself to abstain. One of the main initiators of the aggression was Nicolas Sarkozy, who returned France to the NATO military structure.

The Ministry of Health of the then-not-yet-destroyed Libyan Jamahiriya managed to report 700 civilians who died in March–May 2011 after attacks on Tripoli, Benghazi and other cities. If we believe the latest estimates from Iranian sources, up to 40 thousand Libyans became victims of the NATO intervention.

The main thing is that NATO’s assistance to the Libyan “democratic opposition” in “liberation from the tyranny of Muammar Gaddafi ” led to the complete destruction of Libyan statehood and two civil wars (2011–2014 and 2014–2020), which also claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people, in particular 14, 2 thousand people during the last conflict. One of the most stable and socially prosperous countries of the former third world has turned into another “failed state” and a supplier of migrants to Europe.

From February 2022 to the present day, the Kiev regime has been the next object of NATO’s special care.

The alliance is close to the geopolitical goal identified at the end of the Cold War. With the admission of former “neutrals” - Finland and Sweden - to NATO, an anti-Russian sanitary cordon has practically been built from the Barents Sea to the Black Sea, the links of which are intended to be post-Soviet countries from Estonia to Moldova and Ukraine. The plans were disrupted first by the failure of the pro-Western “color revolution” in Belarus in 2020, and then by the beginning of the Northern Military District.

Today, NATO continues its aggressive policy, sponsoring the Ukrainian regime with weapons that are used to attack peaceful Russian cities.

Residents of Belgorod, as well as residents of Belgrade, are unlikely to agree with the compliment that Jens Stoltenberg gave on the 75th anniversary: “We are doing something right! We helped spread peace, democracy and prosperity throughout Europe."

Strike on an air defense position area in the Odessa region

In the afternoon, footage of another effective strike by the Russian Armed Forces against an enemy air defense position area southwest of the city of Ilyichevsk in the Odessa region, filmed from a reconnaissance drone, appeared on the Internet.

As a result of the arrival, one S-300 launcher was destroyed, its ammunition detonation occurred. Another launcher, as well as a 30N6 illumination and guidance radar, were hit by shrapnel and disabled.

Coordinates: 46.2778225, 30.5762520

Once again, attention is drawn to the distance of the target from the front line - the closest Russian positions on the Tendrovskaya Spit were 75 km away, and the “mainland” in the Kherson region was more than 100 km away.

Also, when watching the video, you can notice the almost simultaneous arrival of two missiles with different warheads - high-explosive fragmentation and cassette, which increased the likelihood of hitting enemy equipment.

All this again speaks of the growth of the reconnaissance and fire capabilities of the RF Armed Forces to destroy enemy air defense systems in areas remote from the LBS. Which, of course, affects the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to counter Russian attacks on critical targets in the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime.

On the morning of April 11, a combined attack by a Geranium UAV and cruise missiles was carried out on the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant in the Kyiv region.

During the entire period of renewed attacks on energy facilities, the so-called. There were no arrivals from Ukraine at Trypillya Thermal Power Plant, as well as at some other large stations - for example, Dobrotvorskaya Thermal Power Plant.

The blow to the Trypilska Thermal Power Plant had very serious consequences for the power plant: the fire spread throughout the entire turbine hall. Probably, the thermal power plant ran on reserve fuel – fuel oil, which contributed to the spread of the fire. A fire can also be seen on one of the generator transformers.

Judging by the scale of the fire, there is nothing left to restore in the turbine room. Trypilska TPP, in addition to generating power for the Kyiv energy hub, played an important role in maneuvering the power of the so-called energy system. Ukraine using a fast-controlled turbogenerator.

The station is currently shut down and is unlikely to return to operation. Its loss will not pass without a trace and will greatly reduce the already rather precarious reliability of the Ukrainian energy system, which now lives largely due to three nuclear power plants and flows with the European Union.

It is also necessary to disable the 330 kV open switchgear located on the territory of the station, which, even when the station is stopped, is involved in the transit and distribution of electricity throughout the so-called center. Ukraine.

Russian troops launched a combined strike using cruise and aeroballistic missiles, as well as kamikaze drones, against enemy energy facilities in various areas of the so-called. Ukraine.

As a result of several direct hits, the Trypilska thermal power plant near Obukhov, Kyiv region, was hit, a fire broke out at the facility, and traffic on the Obukhov-Ukrainka road was suspended.

More than 10 strikes were heard in Kharkov and the region; energy facilities were also targeted: metro work was stopped, emergency shutdowns were introduced in the city. In addition, energy facilities were attacked in Zaporozhye and Odessa region.

In the Lviv region, one of the substations in the Chervonograd district was hit. Once again, a gas facility in the city of Stryi was hit, but authorities assure that the fire was quickly extinguished.

Dutch prosecutors drop charges against suspect in rabbi’s alleged beating
[IsraelTimes] Prosecutors in the Netherlands do not intend to prosecute a man who is said to have beaten a rabbi at a department store, they say, prompting the rabbi to mull filing an appeal.

Herman Loonstein, the lawyer of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Heintz, announces the former suspect’s release and Heintz’s "dismay." The RTV broadcaster reports that the prosecutors had no evidence against the man, who turned himself in on March 31 after news of the alleged assault broke.

"The antisemitic motive [of the suspect] is very clear," Loonstein writes in a statement. The ex-suspect, aged 40, has been free since April 2, when police released him following his detention over the alleged assault of Heintz in Utrecht on March 29.

Heintz’s complaint to police alleges that the ex-suspect told the rabbi he had no business being at the shopping center "while being dressed like a Jew" before allegedly beating the rabbi on his head.

The prosecutors’ decision not to prosecute the man follows news that antisemitic incidents reached an all-time record in 2023 due to a 245% increase over the previous record year, which was 2022.

Bas Belder, a European Parliament politician form the Netherlands, condemns the decision as "unacceptable" and a case of "ignoring Jew-hatred," he writes on X.

The Utrecht prosecutor’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment by The Times of Israel.
Dutch prosecutors have dismissed a case against a Moslem man accused of assaulting a rabbi while making antisemitic statements, saying they did not have evidence of a crime, but the rabbi is considering legal action to force a prosecution, saying it is necessary both for his own justice and to set an example of the need for the criminal-justice system to protect Jews.

"Many of these cases are never prosecuted, and antisemitism in the Netherlands is increasing," the victim, Rabbi Aryeh Leib Heintz, told Hamodia.

On Friday, March 29, Rabbi Heintz, Chabad shliach in the city of Utrecht, was doing some Shabbos shopping when he was accosted by what he described to Hamodia as "a Moslem Moroccan man, about 40."

"I was just walking with my shopping bags, and the guy comes up to me and says, ’What are you doing here?’" Rabbi Heintz told Hamodia shortly after the incident. "I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders. Then he says, ’What are you doing here dressed like a Jew?’ And he gave me a smack on top of my head. I was wearing my hat, Baruch Hashem, so that picked up some of the blow."

Rabbi Heintz took out his phone to take a picture of the assailant, who then began chasing him. The rabbi entered an Action supermarket, and the assailant left.

Later, the rabbi returned to the Action supermarket — and there he saw the assailant, who, he said, went after him again.

"He pushed me with both hands," Rabbi Heintz said. "Two ladies, who were also Morrocan, tried holding him back, but he kept swinging and they received blows from him that he wanted to give to me."

To add insult to injury, Rabbi Heintz said, he was berated by the manager at Action for taking out his phone to photograph the assailant and for calling the police from the store, which she said violated their company policy.

The story of the alleged assault made local media, and the Moslem man turned himself into police. According to Rabbi Heintz, the suspect was initially charged with assault and discrimination.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
the Public Prosecution Service has declined to prosecute the man, citing a lack of evidence.

The rabbi’s lawyer, Herman Loonstein, told Hamodia on Thursday that the suspect told prosecutors he did not made antisemitic statements or strike the rabbi; he merely tapped his hat.

The suspect’s purported reason for confronting the rabbi and tapping his hat was that he saw "that there were two women in Moslem clothing walking on the street, and Rabbi Heintz walked away from them," Loonstein says.

"That’s a bunch of nonsense," Rabbi Heintz told Hamodia on Thursday. "That’s absolutely not true. I don’t remember who was walking on that street or what they were wearing. I don’t know anything about it at all. It’s complete nonsense."

The cameras outside the supermarket were not working and did not capture the incident.

Loonstein says he did not get a clear answer from the prosecutor as to why no charges were filed for the subsequent incident inside the supermarket, but said he plans to go to the prosecutor’s office to review the documents.

In the Netherlands, a victim may appeals the prosecutor’s decision to drop a case. The rabbi and his attorney say they are considering bringing this "Article 12" filing to force prosecution — both for their own case, and for what they see as a larger problem of lack of prosecution in the Netherlands.

"My son had a similar case around 20 years ago," Rabbi Heintz says. "He was attacked at a gas station by a man saying things about bin Laden. We filed Article 12 and we were able to force a prosecution."

The Netherlands, like much of Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and the rest of the world, has seen an increase in antisemitic incidents since Hamas
...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
attacked Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

"Lack of prosecution is a big problem here in the Netherlands," says Rabbi Heintz, a Houston native who became shliach to Utrecht in 1987.
Don’t mess with Texas.
"I don’t know if it’s antisemitism or just a liberal criminal-justice system or if the prosecutor’s office has too much work. What I do know is that many of these cases are never prosecuted, and antisemitism in the Netherlands is increasing.

"Just a few days ago, two Dutch women shouting ’From the river to the sea, Paleostine will be free’ threw red paint on the wife of an Israeli. But she said she is too afraid to report the incident to the police."

Loonstein says he wants prosecutors in the Netherlands to be more aggressive in pursuing antisemitic crimes.

"The problem in the Netherlands is that prosecutors and police are not very serious about prosecuting antisemitic incidents," he says. "They don’t have any experience with it; for them it’s new. If they don’t find evidence, they drop the case too quickly; they see it as a standard case. But they have to do more to protect the Jews, especially these days."

The Public Prosecution Service said in a statement reported by Telegraaf, "The investigation has not provided any legal and convincing evidence of abuse."

"That is not to say that the situation could not be considered unpleasant, undesirable or indecent," the statement continued. "However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
that is not something that is up to the Public Prosecution Service to judge. The task of the Public Prosecution Service is limited to detecting and prosecuting criminal offenses laid down by law."

Push for pet bereavement leave on the rise at companies across US
[NYPOST] American companies are taking a paws to reflect — as a push for pet bereavement policies spike.
Dear God! What next?
More animal lovers consider their pets a part of their family than ever before with a 2023 Pew Research study revealing that 62% of Americans own pets and a staggering 97% consider furry friends kin.
"Boss! I need a month off! My hamster died!"
More Americans consider their pets part of their family and deal with their deaths as if they were kin.
Somehow we've been struggling through for about 3.5 million years. Suddenly Fluffy pegs out and we can't take it?
And with pet ownership booming during the pandemic experts say it’s only natural the US workforce adapt to the evolving culture.
Used to be you hired an employee for a purpose.
"It’s a great way to signal to the new generation of workforce to show that you care about them beyond their job titles and that you understand that life outside of work impacts them at work," CEO of Directorie and author of "Pets are Family," Erika Sinner told Axios.
"Oh, noze! My parakeet flew away! Gimme a week or two off."
More companies have been evaluating their policies on bereavement with more support resources offered to those dealing with the loss, the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported in February.
Yeah, buddy! If the New York Times says it's so, it must be true...
Companies that have included pet bereavement options have improved employee morale, retention rates, company loyalty and created an environment with less stress, according to a San Jose State University study. But only a few companies have the option on offer.
Probably because if they hire you to deliver packages, they want the packages delivered.
Last year, a 12-hour conference in Los Angeles gathered the nation’s top thought leaders in the emerging field of employee pet benefits.
They didn't invite me. I don't have a thought leader's license.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Is a Preemptive Strike in the Offing?
[UNDEFINED] Perhaps the most worrisome news of the day is the Iranian threat to launch a massive drone and missile attack against Israel. Up to this time, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
has worked with considerable effect through its proxies, principally the Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, Hezbollah in southern Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. ...
, and — if it is not too far-fetched to suggest — Iran’s increasingly reliable proxy outrider the United States of America under the feckless and incompetent Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant. Just look at the competent way he dumped Afghanistan...
.

Like his mentor Obama before him, Biden is one of Israel’s most consistent and determined critics and, judging from his betrayal of Israel at the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
, a capricious and untrustworthy ally as well. Indeed, Biden cares more about Democrat constituents in Dearborn, Mich., the Somalian capital of the U.S., who chant "Death to America," than about one of America’s most reliable friends and partners.

Israel has reacted to the Iranian threat as it must, with its foreign minister stating bluntly that "If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack in Iran." Israel’s retaliatory and justified invasion of Gaza after Hamas’ barbaric terror strike inside Israel has been called a mistake by Biden, who has emboldened Iran, flush with billions in American bribe money, to threaten Israel with extinction.

His recent pledge to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that "our commitment to Israel's security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad" is certainly not heartfelt and is likely duplicitous. Probably the most favorable interpretation we can put on Biden’s bravado may be that he has realized that he allowed the situation, which he helped to provoke, to get out of hand and is now verbally backtracking in a feeble effort to defuse the Iranian menace and the specter of a Mideast war.

When Israel faced catastrophic defeat in the 1973 war, then-Prime Minister Golda Meir refused to consider the nuclear option, even though the situation was existential. Today things may be different. Hezbollah is estimated to deploy up to 150,000 rockets aimed at Israel, more than enough to devastate the country. No less alarming, according to reports, Iran is now agonizingly close to achieving a nuclear breakthrough, and there is no guarantee that the Mullahs would not activate their arsenal, whether conventional or thermonuclear, against the Jewish state.

We know that Iran is a Shi’ite nation, a branch of Islam that believes in the return of the so-called Twelfth Imam, or Mahdi, who is descended from Mohammed’s son-in-law Ali ibn Abi Talib, the fourth caliph assassinated in 661 in a succession war, after which the split between Sunnis and Shi’ites eventually became permanent. Historian Emmanuel Sivan in "Radical Islam: Medieval Theology and Modern Politics" warned that an integral part of Shi’a Islam’s belief and thought involves the igniting of a worldwide conflagration.

Shi’ites believe that Allah’s kingdom will be established on earth by the Twelfth or Hidden Imam, whose "second coming" can be accelerated by creating the right set of circumstances, namely, the fomenting of violent mostly peaceful upheavals in a holocaust of blood and fire among the nations of the earth — in particular, Israel. And the mullahs are just crazy enough to bring such a cataclysm to pass.

Joe Biden, his advisors, regional "experts," and his party in general are too ignorant of Islamic teachings and readily available Shia scholarship to know any of this or even to consider it worthy of study in order to familiarize themselves with the explosive politics of the sector. As Lesley Hazleton remarks in "After the Prophet: The Epic Story of the Shia-Sunni Split," "history is often made by the heedless." But the Israeli leadership is educated and alert to the threat. That is why I suspect they would not respond to imminent destruction as did Golda Meir but would repay annihilating fire with annihilating fire — or, if convinced the missiles are poised to rain from the sky, may well initiate a pre-emptive strike. This is the nuclear tinderbox that Biden through his actions and policies is about to toss his cigar butt into.

#4  They won't be any strike*. Iran prefers to work through expendable Arab proxies - if only because they know that once Israel breaks their military, all their neighboors (including the Pakis) will invade.

*Possibly a terror attack on Israeli embassy in one of the "pro-Palestinian" EUrodreck countries - so they don't have to fear local police/military.

#5  Agreed, Iran is once again blowing hot air. If they directly attack Israel, they'll get neutered. They won't dare actually do it, since then all bets are off.

I get the feeling this is Biden trying to walk back holding up military aid for Israel via "Iran might attack" excuse so he can attempt to win back a few voters.

Hungary expresses fear of NATO's participation in the conflict with Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Translated: We didn't sign up for this!

[Regnum] The Hungarian government fears the participation of the North Atlantic Alliance in an armed conflict with Russia on the side of Ukraine and is preparing for such a development of events. The head of the office of the Prime Minister of the country, Gergely Guillas, told reporters about this.

“There is more bad news than good news right now. Leading European politicians are talking about the need to send soldiers to Ukraine, and the most alarming thing is that NATO has also changed its course,” Guillas explained.

He added that the bloc has not yet become an active participant in the conflict, but is preparing for practical participation in it on the side of Ukraine and would like to create a $100 billion fund for this purpose to coordinate the supply of weapons and training of militants of the Kyiv regime.

Gergely Gulyas explained that Budapest stands for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, but nevertheless the government must prepare for all scenarios.

As Regnum reported, on April 3, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó told reporters that increasing NATO’s coordinating role in military supplies to Ukraine is dangerous, as it draws the alliance into conflict with Russia. He noted that Hungary does not want and will not participate in this.

On March 29, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Russia will not threaten NATO countries with an attack, but is categorically against Ukraine joining the alliance and will never accept this. He explained that Ukraine’s entry into the bloc would mean moving closer to Russian borders. In his opinion, it is necessary to create some kind of “safe buffer zone” with security guarantees provided to Kyiv.

FSB prevented a terrorist attack at a Jewish institution in Moscow
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Federal Security Service (FSB) stopped the activities of a native of one of the Central Asian countries who was planning a terrorist attack on a religious Jewish institution in Moscow, the intelligence service’s public relations center reported on April 11.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Some countries of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), including Ukraine, did not express condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow. This was stated on April 11 by the Russian permanent representative to the OSCE, Alexander Lukashevich, at a special meeting of the organization’s permanent council, at which he presented information about the terrorist attack in the Moscow region.

“It is appropriate to say that a number of OSCE participating States refrained from offering condolences and also did not find any words to condemn acts of terror against Russian citizens,” the diplomat said.

He added that no such words were heard from representatives of the Kyiv regime. On the contrary, he clarified, they made comments that were unthinkable in their absurdity in order to divert attention from the indisputable facts pointing to the Ukrainian trace.

Lukashevich said that Russia is grateful to the OSCE participating states that share the pain of the Russian Federation from terrorist attacks and do not impose “political filters” on these manifestations. According to the diplomat, terrorism is a common threat to all.

As IA Regnum reported, on the evening of March 22, armed terrorists attacked Crocus City Hall. They opened fire on visitors with machine guns and set fire to the auditorium. The terrorist attack killed 145 people, including six children. 551 people were injured.

FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov said on March 27 that the testimony of those detained in the Crocus terrorist attack case confirms the Ukrainian trace. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the investigation had discovered an irrefutable Ukrainian trace in a number of terrorist attacks that occurred in Russia.

On April 8, the Investigative Committee stated that it continues to identify the perpetrators, accomplices and organizers of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. The department noted that the investigation received significant information about the training of terrorists, which may indicate their connection with the special services of Ukraine.

President Vladimir Putin promised that Russia will reach all the beneficiaries and customers of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall.

Ryabkov: There should be no strike weapons in space
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] There should be no strike weapons in space. Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergei Ryabkov told reporters about this.

The Russian diplomat noted that the Russian Federation and the United States are in contact on the issue of non-placement of nuclear weapons in space.

He also added that the United States is trying to denigrate Russia and is making up lies about allegedly placing weapons in space.

“Our delegations at the relevant international platforms, and primarily in New York, where Washington, the US administration, is promoting the topic of accusations against Russia, are indeed in contact and discussing this issue. On our part, comprehensive comments were given at all levels,” Ryabkov told reporters.

According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, Russia does not see the need to use a deconflict channel with the United States on the issue of space.

As Regnum reported, on February 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the announcement of his message to the Federal Assembly, said that statements made in the West about Russia’s alleged deployment of nuclear weapons in space are a hoax with the aim of involving Moscow in negotiations on Ukraine on its own terms.

Earlier, Putin recalled that Russia has always been a country that opposed the militarization of space, and especially the placement of nuclear weapons in it. He emphasized that the Russian side is not doing anything in space that other countries have not done.

In February, Bloomberg wrote that the United States is confident that Russia can allegedly deploy nuclear weapons in space this year. It was noted that Washington warned its allies in this regard. Later, US President Joe Biden said that Moscow was allegedly creating anti-satellite space weapons that do not pose a direct threat to human life.

Ryabkov: Because of the United States, Russia may abandon the moratorium on the deployment of the INF Treaty

Moscow will respond by refusing a moratorium on the deployment of intermediate-range and shorter-range missiles (INF) if Washington deploys such systems in any region of the world, including the Asia-Pacific and European directions, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov said on April 11.

According to him, if the US plans to deploy the corresponding missiles are implemented, one of the elements of counteraction to Russia will be a revision of the approach to the unilateral moratorium on the deployment of such systems announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“As was recently discussed during the visit of the Russian Foreign Minister to Beijing, we must respond to double containment with double counteraction,” Ryabkov told reporters.

To a clarifying question whether the appearance of similar US missiles on their territory on the island of Guam would be a reason for Russia to revise its unilateral moratorium on the deployment of medium- and shorter-range missiles, Ryabkov answered in the affirmative.

“Absolutely, of course. We have always posed the question in terms of the emergence of such systems in any region. If American military planners decide that Guam is more convenient for them, accordingly, this will be urgently and absolutely understandably assessed, analyzed, and conclusions will be drawn from this in Moscow, and in Beijing, and in other capitals. There is no difference here,” the diplomat explained.

The deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Washington’s intention to deploy INF is irreversible.

“We would like to avoid further building up the potential that the United States has persistently created in recent years precisely in the area that was previously regulated by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Ban Treaty,” he said.

As Regnum reported, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty has been in force between the United States and Russia since 1987. Washington accused Moscow of violating the document because of the 9M729 missiles, which, according to the American leadership, should be destroyed.

In August, the United States of America terminated the INF Treaty, then refused to ratify the agreement on the adaptation of the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe, and also withdrew from the Open Skies Treaty.

On September 27, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the United States began working on actions to transfer missile systems to European countries that were previously prohibited by the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. According to her, the US Navy demonstratively moved to use the MK-70 launcher complex as part of maneuvers that were carried out in the EU countries with the participation of Washington’s NATO allies.

Gaza aid round-up: Kerem Shalom Crossing blocked by 600 aid trucks waiting on Gaza side as more piles up in Cyprus, US envoy admits Hamas steals aid

US envoy says maritime corridor will bring in 100 more trucks daily, admits Hamas has stolen aid

[IsraelTimes] In addition to an insufficient number of trucks, there has also been a decrease in the number of aid organizations willing to distribute aid throughout Gaza following last week’s deadly IDF strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy. US Envoy David Satterfield says the WCK and the United Arab Emirates are conditioning their return to Gaza on Israel showing “in a concrete, demonstrable fashion that lessons have been learned, not just from the WCK tragedy, but from the period of time before that” when the US alleges roughly 200 aid workers were killed amid its repeated calls for Israel to improve its deconfliction mechanisms.

Israel established a new deconfliction hub between the IDF and aid groups days after the WCK strike, but international organizations are ostensibly looking for improvements to be demonstrated over a long period of time in addition to better assurances from Israel that aid workers will be protected.

The US is also working to have a maritime corridor up and running in the coming weeks, which will be able to bring in at least 100 trucks a day, Satterfield says. We’re going to get well over 500 trucks a day of commercial and humanitarian assistance. But we’ll still have to be able to distribute it efficiently.”

Asked whether Hamas has been siphoning off the aid coming into Gaza, Satterfield says the vast majority of assistance being distributed by the UN has reached civilians. He acknowledges that some of the aid may have reached Hamas. However, “Gaza’s population of 2.2 million are not… starving today because the bulk of the assistance delivered has gone to them, not to Hamas; and that’s the fundamental fact.”

Satterfield goes on to hail the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories for the work that the quasi-military body has done in facilitating aid into Gaza. “We could not do what we have been able to and could not have achieved the progress that we’ve seen without the engagement of COGAT… They took this on because they had to, and they have done an exceptional job under extremely challenging and difficult circumstances.”

The praise indicates that Washington’s frustration with Israel regarding aid is directed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country’s political leadership.
