Netanyahu to address country with 'dramatic news about Iran' Monday night
The Ayatollah is dying of rabies?
[Jpost] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to give a speech disclosing "dramatic news about Iran" at 8pm on Monday, Israeli media reported Monday afternoon.

Media reports indicate Netanyahu will address the Iran nuclear deal and not the overnight strike in Syria. A large portion of his speech will be in English.

The speech is scheduled to be given from the Kirya military complex in Tel Aviv.

Seattle Community Fed Up After Homeless Turn Jewish Cemetery Into Dumping Ground
[Komo via Weasel Zippers] Jewish cemeteries in North Seattle have been marred with dirty drug needles, garbage and human waste.

The community is fed up with the campers who are moving in and they’re calling for the city to do something about it.

For families who’ve laid their loved ones to rest in a sacred, final resting place, the Bikur Cholim and Historic Sephardic Jewish cemeteries have turned into dumping grounds.

"That’s the only word you can use to it is ridiculous because this shouldn’t be happening in civilized society," said Bikur Cholim congregant Ari Hoffman. "This shouldn’t be happening to anybody and imagine it’s your loved ones there."

Headstones are marred with drug needles, trash and human waste.

Families with the synagogues associated with the cemeteries said they’ve spent $50,000 cleaning up the mess that continues.

"Prostitutes were working in the woods, drug addicts are working in the woods," said Hoffman. "Groundskeepers come in on Monday morning and they find everything from a weekend of fun ‐ which is needles on the ground, crystal meth on the tombstones."

They say people living in camps have overrun the private property and some RVs have been parked outside for years.

[FOX 8] CHARLOTTE, N.C. ‐ Jacqueline Murphy was working the drive-through Thursday at a Charlotte Chick-fil-A when she learned she had received a $25,000 scholarship.

Murphy was surprised when restaurant operator and company leaders pulled through with a giant check. After the presentation, her friends and family were waiting to surprise Murphy.

Murphy started working at Chick-fil-A on East Woodlawn Road to overcome her shyness and even went to work on her off-days to shadow team members to help her become more engaged with guests, the press release said.

Murphy is a seasonal manager at the restaurant while also attending Wingate University’s School of Pharmacy.

Chick-fil-A will award $14.5 million to team members nationwide through its scholarship program called "Remarkable Futures."

Afghanistan
9 journalists among dozens killed in twin Afghanistan blasts, ABC reports
A number of journalists, including a senior AFP photographer, have died in a suicide attack in Kabul as a bomber disguised as a fellow cameraman detonated a second bomb at the site of an earlier explosion.

At least 29 people died in the two explosions on Monday morning in the Afghan capital Kabul, according to government officials.

The first blast took place at around at 8 a.m. local time in the Shashdarak area of the city, where the US embassy and Afghan government buildings are located, prompting journalists to rush to the scene.

The second explosion came as the attacker, posing as a cameraman, detonated explosives as journalists huddled around the scene, Kabul City Police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told CNN.

Nine journalists, including at least one woman, from different news media outlets died in the attack, ABC News reported.

Sharifi had earlier reported that nine journalists had died, but later revised the figure. He did not elaborate on the number of injured press.

A further 45 people were injured in the two incidents, and have been taken to city hospitals, according to Ministry of Public Health spokesman Wahid Majroh.

French news agency Agence France Presse confirmed that its photographer Shah Marai was among the dead.

Dershowitz: Time to Investigate Mueller?
[PJ] Alan Dershowitz may be one of the last honest liberals: a man who doesn't adjust his principles depending on the politics of the situation. Like the journalists it corrupts and manipulates, however, the new Left has traduced every standard it used to profess to hold dear, including the sanctity of grand-jury testimony, the promiscuous use of anonymous sources, the attorney-client privilege itself, and civil liberties in general:
Just as the first casualty of war is truth, so, too, the first casualty of hyperpartisan politics is civil liberties. Many traditional civil libertarians have allowed their strong anti-Trump sentiments to erase their long-standing commitment to neutral civil liberties. They are now so desperate to get President Trump that they are prepared to compromise the most basic due process rights. They forget the lesson of history that such compromises made against one’s enemy are often used as precedents against one’s friends.

Dershowitz goes on to discuss the special counsel's somewhat checkered past involving the Whitey Bulger case in Boston:

Thanks, POTUS, For Breaking-Up The Annual Correspondents' Circle Jerk.
[Mercer] As a newly elected president, Donald Trump was quick to take one of Washington's institutional pillars down a peg. By snubbing the 2017 annual White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD), the president deflated what should have been more appropriately called the Sycophants' Supper. Would that it was the last such supper. For now, the POTUS's slap to this gathering of sycophants this past weekend will have to do.

Like nothing else, the annual Correspondents' Dinner is a mark of a corrupt politics. It's a sickening specter, where some of the most pretentious, worthless people in the country‐in politics, journalism and entertainment‐convene to revel in their ability to petition and curry favor with one another, usually to the detriment of the rest of us in Rome's provinces.

Those gathered at the Annual Correspondents' Dinner, or their Christmas party, are not the country's natural aristocracy, but its authentic Idiocracy. No matter how poor their predictive powers, no matter how many times they get it wrong‐in war and in peace‐the presstitutes always find time for this orgy of self-praise.

And they're all on the same circuit, beavering at sculpting celebrity personas. Anchors at major networks hangout on late-night shows, where presidents and first ladies hobnob, too. Jimmy Fallon's "Tonight Show" may be a vaudeville of giggles, goofiness, and mind-numbing banter. But providing bread and circuses for Booboisie comes with a "responsibility" the dancing, prancing, androgynous Mr. Fallon takes seriously. To his tomfoolery, Fallon once added a spot of promotion for ObamaCare (March, 2014), to honor Michelle Obama's visit to the set. Fallon's lead was a signal to Sister Act. FLOTUS launched into her own agitprop for her husband's healthcare juggernaut on that show.

Meanwhile, "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central is a professional Shangri-La for the cast of characters at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. This year, the downright mirthless "Daily Show" donated one Hasan Minhaj as its circus clown to amuse the sycophants. I hope he came for free, for Hasan is worthless as a funny man. Not a funny bone in his body.

Hasan's idea of verbal swordplay: calling The Donald "liar in chief." The quip has 9,650,000 results on Google, most of them unrelated to hackneyed Hasan. "Liar in chief" goes back to 2011 and before, and has been applied to every president and candidate since 2011.

Hasan's "originality" came together in lines as, "I would like to say it's an honor to be here, but that would be an alternative fact." He also invented a new form of satire: the sermon on The Hill. Interspersed with kvetching‐"No one wanted to do this so, of course, it landed in the hands of an immigrant, [t]hat's how it always goes down"‐was a string of clichés on the press' duty to do a better job. For "our democracy," you know.
Note: this was from 2017. Saturday's debacle with "comedian" Michelle Wolf was worse

Of Refugees, Borders, and Invaders
h.t Instapundit
[PJMedia] Apparently the "caravan" of Central and Middle Americans that was headed towards our Southern border, still is headed towards our Southern border.

Sure, Mexico has stopped openly lending support, and the lawyers accompanying the merry band have stopped telling them it’s a shoe in, but they’re still coming.

The truth of the matter is that Mexico might not be lending open support to this attempt to test US borders, but they are in fact lending it their support, by not arresting these illegal aliens on their soil (Mexico has much tougher immigration laws than ours) and not offering them asylum there. Instead, they let what must be a significant and large multitude continue towards the US border.

Why are they doing it? The answer is fairly obvious.

...They’re coming to test the "Trump administration’s tough rhetoric". In effect, they’re coming to test our borders and our decision to uphold their integrity.

It shouldn’t need to be said, but I’ll say it: I am not against immigration. It would be stupid and weird for me to be against immigration, given that I’m an immigrant myself.

...Because I am quite devoted to our founding principles and the liberty which they secure us, I don’t believe in immigration simply for economic necessity or to escape this or that. While those are valid motives to immigrate anywhere ‐ including here ‐ you should come here with the intention of becoming an American, or as my friend, Dave Freer, himself an immigrant to Australia, puts it, FIFO: Fit in or F**k off.

...None of this makes any sense from the point of view of "refugees." Frankly, none of this makes any sense from the point of view of a private, ad-hoc assemblage of immigrants. Doubtless with the cooperation of local governments this was assembled by some international organization, like one of George Soros’ open borders fronts.

Innocent or not, these people were weaponized by other interests and told they could surely make it in, past our weak borders and into the country where they could collect welfare and aid of all sorts. (We know that Obama advertised how much our welfare would give immigrants in Latin American countries.)

There is no other reason for them to, determinedly and as a group, make to our border, past all the other countries they pass on the way. If their goal was simply to rebuild their lives anew, they could easily do so in Guatemala, or Mexico, countries where their native language is spoken, and where the culture is much easier for them to integrate into. And there is no way if someone weren’t paying for their expenses, they would be allowed to continue as a multitude, through places in Mexico that they must be eating out of all provisions and where they must be taking up every free room.

These are not desperate refugees, making for our border past all the other countries, looking for a place of safety. These are at best economic immigrants who have heard the streets are paved with gold here, and who don’t understand that our wealth comes from freedom and hard work. (To be fair, neither do our native leftists.) At worst, they’re people with shady pasts, recruited, encouraged and pushed by governments and organizations that don’t mean us well, to show that our borders are weak and that we’re ripe for increased invasion.

Mary Berry slams schools for failing to teach children simple cooking skills and says every pupil should learn 10 healthy recipes
[MAIL] Mary Berry puts her success as a cooking phenomenon down to learning the basics from her home economics teacher as a schoolgirl.

But she has slammed today’s schools for failing to teach children simple cooking skills and cutting resources.

Miss Berry, 83, said: ’Every child, when they leave school, should be able to create ten dishes that they really enjoy themselves, that are healthy, that aren’t expensive, that are nutritionally good.

’When they leave school and they’re living in a rented room with one ring, they should be able to create a meal quickly from a few ingredients ‐ and enjoy them.

’But the problem is that the schools have let go of their home economics departments. They’ve sold off the equipment and made them into other rooms.’

Miss Berry, pictured, also told The Sunday Times Magazine that she would have all children taught how to ’make gravy sauce, how to cook vegetables, how to cook cheaper cuts, and so forth’.

The former Great British Bake Off judge said she first learnt to cook from her domestic science teacher, Miss Date.

My father was an organic chemist. He started with the end result he desired nutritionally, then worked his way backward to develop the recipe. His crepes were acceptable, tastewise, but contained a full day’s key nutrients for a child in each one — my baby brother was very picky, needed to be fed, and loved maple syrup on pancakes.

Admiral Ronny Jackson: You can stick a fork in me, I'm DONE !
[WAPO via Chicago Tribune] Ronny Jackson, a Navy rear admiral whom President Donald Trump unsuccessfully nominated to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs, will not return to his previous role as the president's personal physician, a White House official said Sunday.

Jackson, who withdrew as Trump's VA pick last week, will remain on as part of the White House medical unit, the official added. Sean Conley, a Navy veteran who took over Jackson's responsibilities after his nomination, will remain in the role as Trump's personal doctor.

Jackson, a former combat physician who faced criticism almost immediately that he was not qualified to oversee VA, withdrew his nomination Thursday, after the office of Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., released allegations against Jackson that he drank on the job, overprescribed medication and presided over a toxic work environment.

Jackson's new role was first reported by Politico.

Brooks Suggests Republicans Are Retiring Because of Assassination Fears
[Roll Call] Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks suggested in a radio interview that Republicans are retiring en masse because of assassination fears.

Brooks was speaking on "The Dale Jackson Show" about the first Republican practice the Congressional Baseball Game after last year’s shooting that left Majority Whip Steve Scalise severely injured.

"We have multiple rings of security, plainclothes, uniform, Capitol Police, other police," he said. "There was a medical vehicle nearby just in case there was a copycat."

But Brooks said while there were multiple factors that contributed to a slew of Republicans leaving the House, he suggested fears of violence was a major one.

"One of the things that’s concerning me is the assassination risk may become a factor," he said.

Brooks referred to the fact many members of the Republican baseball team are retiring, including Sen. Jeff Flake and Reps. Ryan Costello, Pat Meehan, Dennis Ross and Tom Rooney.

"You have to wonder with that kind of disproportionate retirement number whether what happened in June played a factor," he said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Losing Patience with the Rollup of the Rogue Ruling Class
[American Thinker] More information came to light this week about the extensive, illegal operations of Obama’s rogue bureaucratic corps. Like the Attorney General, the President, Professor Alan Dershowitz, Joe DiGenova, former Clinton pollster Mark Penn and millions of others, we think this is taking far too long, and the Mueller investigation needs to close its bunker door and fade away. I’m with them. Moreover, if indictments of the Obama Bureaucrats who confected this nonsense and tried to cover it up don’t follow quickly on the release of the Inspector General’s report -- now due May 8 -- it is hard to imagine how much more contempt we will have for claims that we must respect the judicial system. Having seen the criminal justice system misused as a vicious political weapon against Lewis Libby, Ted Stevens, and now General Michael Flynn while manifest lawbreakers, including both the Clintons, McCabe, and Comey waltz home free, inspires depths of distrust that only the enemies of a democratic state could hope to accomplish,

Here are some of the highlights of this week’s many disclosures.

President Trump expected to speak at NRA meeting in Dallas
[The Hill] President Trump is expected to speak at the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) annual meeting this week, a White House official confirmed Sunday.

The NRA’s annual meeting will take place May 3-6 in Dallas. Vice President Pence is scheduled to speak there on Friday.

Trump has delivered remarks at each of the past two annual meetings for the gun rights group.

CNN first reported on Trump's planned appearance at the annual meeting.
This speech would come nearly two months after the Trump administration unveiled a series of proposals on school safety and gun restrictions in response to a Feb. 14 shooting at a Parkland, Fla., high school.

Politix Subcontinental-style...
[Dhaka Tribune] Monti Chakma, general secretary of central Hill Women’s Federation, who was kidnapped along with one of her colleagues on March 18 by a group of gunnies, addressed a presser at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Sunday morning where she described the abduction in detail and named several of her abductors.

Surrounded by her friends and well-wishers, Monti said the abduction was carried out by people she knew, and accused the administration and law enforcement agencies of being aware of the incident.

Illegals Say They Will Overwhelm Our System, Destroy Our Borders
[IndependentSentinal] Hundreds of leftists are on both sides of the border supporting the soon-to-be illegal aliens who are climbing the fence dividing Tijuana, Mexico from Friendship, California. Lines of leftists are also on the U.S. side, waiting to greet them.

So far, it is more of a stunt promoting the foreigners who are lying and gaming the system to get into the U.S. seeking jobs or welfare or both. Many of the jobs they do get hired for are off the books so they don’t pay taxes, get welfare, and they send the money they make back to their home countries.

There are whole towns being supported by Mexicans working illegally in the U.S.

These illegal foreigners are people who violate our laws. This is what many politicians want for our country.
Continues.

Saudi to host Ulemas meeting to discuss Taliban-led insurgency
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Kingdom of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. -led insurgency against the Afghan government, it has been reported.

The decision to hold a meeting of the World Ulemas was reportedly taken during the visit of the Afghan High Peace Council Secretariat Chief Mohammad Akram Khpolwak to Saudi Arabia this week.

The Ulemas from different part of the world will participate in the summit and are expected to announce their stance regarding the Taliban-insurgency and the justification the group gives to the ongoing war.

According to the officials, the Ulemas will also hold talks regarding the presence of the foreign troops in Afghanistan.

The meeting will be organized months after the Afghan government shared its offers with the Taliban to encourage the group for peace talks.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the Taliban group has so far rejected to participate in any form of dialogue for grinding of the peace processor.

"The meeting in Jeddah will have high impact since in the past Pak Learned Elders of Islam have repeatedly termed the war here as jihad and a righteous act," Afghan High Peace Council front man Ehsanullah Tahiri told Arab News.

Tahiri further added that the upcoming moot will decide that the Afghan war has no legality.

Sudan: Opposition Repeats Call for Intifada
[All Africa] The National Consensus Forces (NCF) alliance of opposition parties has called on the Sudanese people to stand up against the "oppressive Khartoum regime". According to the National Umma Party (NUP), Sudan has reached "a state of complete bankruptcy".

In a statement on Thursday, the NCF pointed to the ongoing deterioration of the situation in the country. "It is going from bad to worse because of the failing government and its clumsy policies on all levels."

According to allied opposition, "the only option" to save Sudan is "to take to the streets, embark on a political strike, and carry out various forms of civil disobedience in order to bring down the oppressive Khartoum regime".

The NCF urged the people to establish district or village committees to organise the uprising.

The statement pointed to the public protests in January, against renewed austerity measures that led to the doubling and in some cases tripling of the prices of basic consumer goods. The authorities reacted by detaining not only demonstrators, but also dozens of opposition leaders. A number of journalists, including correspondents of foreign press agencies, were held as well.

Islamabad police take US diplomat into custody for injuring two motorcyclists in road accident
[DAWN] A US diplomat stationed in Islamabad was taken into police custody after he rammed his vehicle into two motorcyclists in the federal capital, DawnNewsTV reported.

Second Secretary Chad Rex Ausburn hit the bike rider and his pillion passenger in a hit-and-run on Sunday in the premises of Secretariat cop shoppe. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition is said to be stable.

Following the incident, the diplomat refused to step out of the vehicle. However,

he stepped out and identified himself when police reached the site of incident.

The US diplomat was later taken into police custody and shifted to Secretariat cop shoppe. Police have impounded the vehicle and taken the diplomat’s cards for verification.

The US diplomat was in police custody till the filing of this report, awaiting verification and confirmation of diplomatic immunity.

Earlier this month, a motorcyclist in Islamabad was killed after being hit by a vehicle driven by the military attaché of United States.

Defence and air attaché at the US embassy Col Joseph Emanuel was driving a white SUV when he hit Ateeq and Raheel travelling on a cycle of violence. Resultantly, Ateeq went titzup while Raheel suffered serious injuries and has been shifted to nearby hospital.

Iraq
Trump Approves Sending Dual-Citizenship ISIS Fighter to First Country
[AAWSAT] A federal appeals court on Friday held its first session to consider whether to allow the involuntary transfer of a dual-citizenship suspected member of ISIS from US military custody in Iraq to a third country. The court refused to disclose the name or the first-country of the ISIS fighter, but according to US media sources, he is from the Middle East and had attained the US citizenship.

US sources reported on Saturday, that President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
wants to send the ISIS member back to his first country. Trump also contacted leaders in his homeland and indicated that he received assurances that the man will receive a fair trial when he returns home.

The Washington Post indicated on Saturday that this is an unusual case before the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit and it raises significant questions about how the courts balance national security interests with the constitutional rights of citizens.

Judge Sri Srinivasan asked the attorney representing the Justice department whether he could name another case in which a US citizen held in one country was forcibly transferred to another.

Justice Department representative James Burnham responded that: "No, not as I stand here."

He urged the court to defer to the executive branch on matters involving military operations and diplomatic relations.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy was furiously chewing her cud and thinking...
Attorney Jonathan Hafetz of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) told the court there must be a legal basis for such a hand-off based on a treaty or statute and not "an ad hoc executive deal."

Mayo Clinic: McCain asks son-in-law to 'to take care of Meghan' (opens to video)
[USA Today] John McCain's son-in-law, conservative pundit Ben Domenech, tweeted Saturday night that the senator, who is battling a deadly form of brain cancer, asked him to take care of his daughter, Meghan.
Yes, she is thirty-three, but he married her last November, so taking care of her is part of the job, as taking care of him is part of hers.
McCain, a six-term Arizona Republican, was released from the hospital last week. He had been in stable condition at the Mayo Clinic, according to his family and Senate office, following surgery for an intestinal infection related to diverticulitis.

McCain, 81, has been recovering at his family's retreat near Sedona, a tweet from his wife, Cindy, suggests.

Ben Domenech's tweet was posted at 8:16 p.m. Arizona time. It is unclear what prompted the message. He subsequently deleted the tweet sometime before 10 p.m.

"John hugged me tonight. He asked me to take care of Meghan. I said I would," Domenech wrote. "F--k you soulless crazies. F--k you all the way to hell."

Syrian Army retreats from all new gains in Deir Ezzor following counter-attack by US-backed forces
[ALMASDARNEWS] Earlier on Sunday, the Syrian Army and allied paramilitary groups launched a surprise attack against US-backed forces along the eastern shore of the Euphrates.

According to reports, the government assault resulted in at least five towns and villages ‐ Junaynah, Jayah, Shamrt Hossan, Huwayjat Ma’ishyah and Shaqrah ‐ coming under Syrian Army control, at least so for several hours.

New information from official sources suggests that government troops have since retreated from all five settlements following a counter-attack by US-backed forces ‐ whether or not American airpower was involved in the engagement remains unclear.

According to various sources, anywhere between six to nine US-backed fighters and possibly a top commander were killed in the festivities that took place; government losses are unknown.

It is still unclear why Syrian pro-government forces attacked US-backed factions today.

Oregonian confesses to using bucket to conduct improper relations with Ellie
[NY Post] A "homeless-looking" man in Oregon has confessed to sexually assaulting a horse after its owner found the animal "tied up in an unusual way" inside its stable, police and court documents say.

Kenneth Lijah Duyck, 20, is in Washington County Jail Thursday on suspicion of sexual assault of an animal and second-degree burglary stemming from the incident last week on a rural property in Hillsboro.

Duyck broke into the stable and went after a black mare named Ellie, The Oregonian reported, citing court records and police statements.

The owner of the property later discovered a bucket overturned, and in a call to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, said the animal was "tied up in an unusual way," FOX12 Oregon reported.

Taliban seize Afghan district centre, attack army base
[DAWN] Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters seized a district centre in northern Afghanistan on Saturday, while a bomb at an army base in the southern province of Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
killed at least five people. The latest violence came as snuffies pushed ahead with a spring offensive.

Fighters captured the governor’s house and police headquarters in Aq Tapa, in the Qala-e Zal district of Kunduz province and Afghan government forces were fighting to drive them out, said Sayed Assadullah Sadat, a provincial council member.

The Taliban’s main front man Zabihullah Mujahid said fighters had captured a police headquarters, 10 security check posts and a market in Qala-e Zal, north of Kunduz city.

At the other end of the country, in Helmand, snuffies launched a vehicle kaboom on a military base in Nad-e-Ali district, killing four civilians and a soldier, according to a statement from the provincial governor’s office.

The Taliban announced the official start of their annual spring offensive this week, continuing the heavy fighting seen across Afghanistan recently as warmer weather has set in.

In the eastern province of Nangarhar

, a rocket fired by Taliban fighters hit a house in the Hoodi area of Goshta district on Friday night. Five non-combatants were killed and three were maimed.

The fighting may threaten preparations for parliamentary and district council elections planned in October.

Shocking! James Clapper Lied To Congress About Discussing The Trump Dossier With Jake Tapper
[Red State] If one were to look for a cause for the anger and bitterness in American politics right now...other than sore-loserness on the part of Democrats and Never Trump people that rivals anything we saw in the aftermath of the 2000 election of George W. Bush...it would have to be the perpetual investigation of the Trump administration for alleged "collusion" with Russia. And that investigation is driven not by some bullsh** alcohol-fueled conversation between a minor campaign hanger-on, George Papadopoulos, and an Australian diplomat, but by a piece of opposition research paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

I’ve previously posted on how this document got into play. Basically, it had been kicking around Washington for a few months. Several news organizations and BuzzFeed had copies but all were afraid to do anything with it because there was zero verification of the allegations. At some point in December 2016, DNI director James Clapper suggested that James Comey brief president-elect Trump on the dossier. That briefing took place on January 6, 2017, at Trump Tower.

The meeting was notable for three things. First, Trump was only briefed on the "salacious" parts of the dossier. If you’ve read the dossier you know that those parts are only a small fraction of what Steele reported to his paymasters. Second, Reince Priebus specifically asked Comey if there was anything else the administration should be aware of (like, maybe, allegations that they were pawns of Russia) and Comey said no. Third, James Comey told Trump that the media had the document and were looking for a news hook to justify publishing it. Oh, and fourth, Comey did not tell Trump that the dossier was paid oppo from the Hillary campaign. It is hard to paint this in any other way other than Comey trying to wind Trump up and get him looking in one direction while the real attack came from a different direction.

Shortly after Comey’s briefing, CNN reported on the existence of the dossier. What did they use as a news hook?

[IsraelTimes] A French consulate worker charged with smuggling arms from Gazoo to the West Bank will remain in jug throughout his trial, an Israeli court rules Sunday.

Romain Franck, a French citizen, was charged last month along with several Paleostinian suspects with belonging to a gun-running network that sold the weapons to arms dealers between November and February.

According to prosecutors, Franck took advantage of reduced security checks for consular vehicles to transport the weapons out of the Paleostinian enclave.

Israel’s Shin Bet internal security service said Franck was motivated by money, with the indictment alleging he was paid a total of around $5,500.

At the Beersheba district court on Sunday, Judge Nasir Abu Taha orders that Franck remain in jug for the duration of his trial, after his attorney Abed Abu Amir agrees there was "alleged evidence" against his client, court documents read.

Speaking with news hounds after the hearing, Abu Amir says Franck was being kept in jug because he could not meet the conditions for house arrest: two guarantors staying with him around the clock.

"We have one person and he can’t stay with him all the time," he says. "We hope soon to find another guarantor and we can bail him out."

group, the latest in a series of heavy verdicts against foreign women linked to the krazed killers.

The head of Baghdad's Central Criminal Court, which deals with terrorism cases, said the women were found guilty of "joining and supporting IS", according to an AFP journalist at the hearing.

Six women from Azerbaijan and four from Tajikistan were also condemned to life in prison on Sunday on the same charge.

The women, who have the right to appeal against the sentences, entered the court one-by-one dressed in black headscarves and pink blouses, most of them accompanied by their children.

They addressed the court through a translator, a Russian-language professor at Baghdad University hired by their embassy for the trial.

"We will contact the parents to inform them of the verdict," a Russian diplomat at the hearing told AFP.

IS took over nearly one-third of Iraq in a blistering 2014 offensive, seizing control of the country's second-largest city, djinn-infested Mosul

, among others.

Baghdad declared military victory over the faceless myrmidons in December, after expelling them from all urban centres.

It has detained at least 560 women and 600 children identified as faceless myrmidons or relatives of suspected IS fighters, and is wasting no time in putting them on trial.

krazed killers, said a member of the Russian Federation Council.

Ziyad Sabsabi, the representative of Chechnya in the council, was quoted by Russia Today saying that though most of the suspects deny the charges, they could face sentences that amount to death.

He pointed that 11 of those will stand trial on April 29th, according to the channel’s website.

He complained that local lawyers abstain from defending those suspects citing ethical reasons, decrying also a lack of interest from Russian lawyers.

Sabsabi pointed that there are children less than three years of age staying in jail with their mothers, while older ones are put into juvenile mansions since it is difficult to repatriate them before deciding on the fate of their mothers.

The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militias buried on Saturday leader of its council Saleh al-Sammad in the Sabeen Square, near the memorial of the unknown soldier and facing al-Saleh Mosque.

The Iran-backed group sought to organize a massive funeral for its leader, who was killed by a Saudi-led coalition air raid some ten days ago, in an effort to portray him before the public as a legitimate leader instead of a figure in a militia, which is not internationally recognized.

The location of the burial sparked widespread anger among the Yemenis, who viewed it as a "Houthi violation of the symbolism of the place Yemenis had chosen decades ago as a memorial for Yemen's unknown soldiers, who took part in the 1962 revolution that overthrew the Imam rule."

Despite the large funds paid by the Houthi to their followers to participate in the funeral and the forced attendance of employees and students, the turn out was unusually slow because the majority of Sanaa residents, except those loyal to the militia, refused to obey their orders.

Mahdi al-Mashat, who was appointed as Sammad’s replacement as the head of the Supreme Political Council, was present at the funeral along with other big shots, such as the cousin of its leader, Mohammed Ali al-Houthi.

Houthi delivered a speech at al-Saleh Mosque before Sammad’s corpse was buried in a nearby location west of the mosque.

In addition to the militias' violation of the symbolism of the location, activists in the General People's Congress (GPC) noted that this same area was where the first shot was fired against former President former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh

Confidential Meeting Reveals NFL Owners' Fear of Donald Trump
[PJMedia] It hasn't been a banner year for the NFL. In fact, it's been a bad year for Roger Goodell and company. This past October, league officials, players, and owners met to discuss the growing problems within the league, specifically players kneeling during the National Anthem. An audio recording of that meeting obtained by the New York Times reveals that the mounting pressure put on the NFL by President Donald Trump has had an effect.

At the start of the meeting, NFL Commissioner Goodell implored everyone in attendance to keep the contents of the meeting a secret. In the technology age, he was tilting at windmills. Of course, the meeting was recorded and the tape leaked.

The NYT explains that as the meeting began,

The players sounded aggrieved. After discussing a proposal to finance nonprofit groups to address player concerns, they wanted to talk about why Colin Kaepernick, the quarterback who started the anthem protests to highlight social injustice and police brutality against African-Americans, was, they believed, being blackballed by the owners. The owners sounded panicked about their business under attack, and wanted to focus on damage control.

With slumping TV ratings, the owners realized what the players have the luxury of ignoring -- all of the protesting and the connection to SJW causes was killing the goose that had laid everyone in that room's golden egg. Owner of the New England Patriots Robert Kraft put his finger on the problem as he spoke about the players kneeling during the National Anthem, "[W]e have a president who will use that as fodder to do his mission."

Kraft was speaking for the owners as a group, because as the NYT points out,

The owners were intent on finding a way to avoid Trump’s continued criticism. The president’s persistent jabs on Twitter had turned many fans against the league. Lurie, who called Trump’s presidency "disastrous," cautioned against players getting drawn into the president’s tactics.

"We’ve got to be careful not to be baited by Trump or whomever else," Lurie said. "We have to find a way to not be divided and not get baited."

The Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula sounded anguished over the uncertainty of when Trump would take another shot at the league. "All Donald needs to do is to start to do this again," Pegula said. "We need some kind of immediate plan because of what’s going on in society. All of us now, we need to put a Band-Aid on what’s going on in the country."

Throughout the meeting the NFL owners kept reiterating the need to protect the bottom line and that the protests were hurting attendance and TV ratings. Boycotts and angry sponsors were new headaches for the owners. President Trump's tweeting about the NFL had stirred up his base and was threatening the growth of the NFL.

After the meeting was over, the players and owners released a joint statement insisting that the meeting was productive and that everything was fine with the NFL. Except the recording reveals a group of players oblivious to the damage their virtue signaling was doing to the league and a group of owners all too aware of the damage being done to their bottom line by President Trump.
Too little, too late. Red America, the place where the vast majority of your viewers are have seen your character, and they don't like it. Younger people are not watching the NFL like they used to, so when you have fully pissed off the 30-60 crowd you will be left with few viewers and empty stadiums (more than what you have now) and no one willing to give you tax breaks for new stadiums.

Enjoy the bed of bankruptcy you have made for yourselves.

In summary: play stupid politics, lose.

#1  Kaepernick killed the NFL for me. The first year, even before his protest was copied by all the other players. It was a big "FUCK YOU" to fans like me, and I got the message loud and clear. You hate us. You hold us responsible for all your problems, and you will happily divide us into warring camps who can't even agree on things like "We are all Americans here". So be it.

Now I'm just someone who used to watch football. And I'm OK with that.

The Kaepernick crap started while Obama was in office. Owners could if addressed before it got out of hand. That is a mistake that Trump highlighted.

The SJW have taken their message to sports fans because that is where the audience was. Only the converted watch the main stream media. The SJW elite decided to send their message to sports fans and they would rather not watch. Again a mistake in the owners and elites.

The owners even resigned the commissioner at 50 mil a year. Yet another mistake.

Let the league rot.

As Death Toll Mounts, Nicaraguans Rally for Justice
[AAWSAT] Thousands of Nicaraguans staged peaceful rallies on Saturday, demanding justice for 43 people who were killed in a wave of protests that were suppressed by the authorities.

There was a sea of blue and white flags as the crowds massed outside the city's cathedral, among them young people, the elderly and farmers protesting against plans to construct a canal linking the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific.

The rally took place just hours after university students at the forefront of anti-government unrest issued conditions for talks with the government of embattled President Daniel Ortega.

Cardinal Leopoldo Brenes, the city's archbishop, said he would act as a witness and mediator in the dialogue called for by Ortega, adding he would impose a deadline of one month to see "if a real commitment exists" to carry out the agreements reached.

"If we see that they are not taking these steps, we will call a halt and we will tell the people of God that we cannot carry on," he said to widespread applause and chants of "Make them go!" in reference to Ortega and his wife, vice-president Rosario Murillo.

"We are no longer afraid, we want a free Nicaragua," a demonstrator called Rosa Herrera, 65, told AFP.

"Nicaragua wants peace so that there is no more bloodshed," said Maria Flores, a 40-year-old lawyer, while insisting: "There has to be justice for the dead and the disappeared."

"I came because the young people who died deserve a tribute, that we march for the peace in the country, for justice and for the return of the democracy that has been kidnapped by this government," said Marlene Alvarez, 26, who works in a laboratory in the capital.

Although Ortega has agreed to hold talks, the framework has yet to be defined, with the students on Saturday laying down their conditions for the dialogue to take place.

group fighters from the capital's southern suburbs, including the Paleostinian refugee camp of Yarmuk.

On Sunday, state news agency SANA said a deal had been reached to evacuate opposition fighters and members of their families from rebel-held areas east of Yarmuk.

SANA reported "an agreement reached between the Syrian government and terrorist groups in southern Damascus, in the areas of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahem," using its usual term for all rebels.

The deal gives fighters the choice between leaving the area with their families or handing over their weapons and staying, SANA said.

The reported deal is the latest in a string of such agreements that have seen the regime retake areas near the capital after rebel withdrawals.

Such a deal around Yalda could allow the regime to deploy forces on the eastern edges of Yarmuk after other units advanced towards the camp from the west, a Britannia-based war monitor said.

Over the past two days, the army has retaken large parts of the district of Qadam on Yarmuk's western flank, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added.

On Saturday, IS seized a hospital and surrounding buildings on the eastern edges of Yarmuk as it tried to push towards Yalda, the Observatory said.

On Sunday, regime war planes pounded Yarmuk and the neighboring district of Hajar al-Aswad, it said.

Yarmuk and its surroundings are now the jihadist group's largest urban redoubt in Syria and neighboring Iraq, after IS lost most of the swathes of territory it once held in both countries.

The jihadists have held parts of Yarmuk and Hajar al-Aswad since 2015, and overran Qadam in a surprise assault last month.

At least 85 regime fighters and 74 IS jihadists have been killed in ten days of fighting in southern Damascus, the Observatory says.

The announcement of an evacuation deal on Yalda and nearby areas comes after the regime reconquered what was once a key rebel bastion east of Damascus earlier this month.

Eastern Ghouta fell after a brutal military operation and a series of similar evacuation deals brokered by regime ally Russia that saw tens of thousands of residents bused to northern Syria.

More than 350,000 people have been killed and millions displaced since the start of Syria's civil war in 2011 with a deadly crackdown on anti-government protests.

Deal agreed to evacuate Syria's Yarmuk Palestinian refugee camp: state media

[AlAhram] A deal has been reached for the evacuation of the Paleostinian refugee camp of Yarmuk where Islamic State group fighters have been holed up in southern Damascus, state media reported Sunday.

The transfer of "terrorist groups" to rebel-held areas of northwestern Syria would begin on Monday, said the official SANA news agency, which did not name IS jihadists.

It comes hours after the Syrian government and rebels agreed to evacuate opposition fighters from the areas of Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahem, also in southern Damascus, according to SANA.

Palestinians Attack Nikki Haley, Accuse her of Falsifying Facts
[AAWSAT] Paleostinian officials have launched an unprecedented attack against the US permanent representative to the United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
, Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
, accusing her of "lying and falsifying facts."

The Permanent Observer of Paleostine to the United Nations, Ambassador Riad Mansour, told the press at the UN headquarters in New York: "The statement that Haley delivered in the UN Security Council room... lacked credibility and created a wave of great discontent among the Paleostinians."

He added: "Nikki Haley did not mention a single word regarding the suffering and death inflicted by the children and the Paleostinian people at the hands of the occupation forces; if her words are true about Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", using children as human shields, she must agree to form a fact-finding committee to know who is the offender and who is the victim."

As for his country’s options in the current situation, Mansour pointed out that these would include resorting to the UN General Assembly or the International Criminal Court, without elaborating.

On Friday, Mansour revealed that he sent three separate letters to UN Security Council President Gustavo Meza-Cuadra, UN General Assembly President Miroslav Lajcak and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, which included data on the number of people killed and the new Paleostinian casualties by Israeli fire in Gazoo.

Israel killed 44 Paleostinians up to Friday and maimed some 5,000 during Paleostinian demonstrations near the Gazoo border.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
Haley accused Hamas of "using children as cannon fodder."

"Anyone who truly cares about children in Gazoo should insist that Hamas immediately stop using children as cannon fodder in its conflict with Israel," she said at the Security Council.

Paleostinian and Israeli medical and rights reports have shown excessive use of fire by Israeli forces against isolated demonstrators, deliberately killing or damaging their bodies. In specific cases, the Israeli forces opened an investigation.

Two Safoora carnage convicts acquitted in school attack case
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court on Saturday acquitted two suspects, who have been sentenced to death in the Safoora bus carnage case, in a case related to an attack on a private school in 2013.

Saad Aziz, alias Tin Tin alias John, and Tahir Hussain Minhas, alias Saeen, were booked for allegedly hurling a hand grenade at the school in North Nazimabad in March 2013.

, announced the order after recording evidence of the witnesses and hearing concluding arguments from both sides.

During a cross examination, defence counsel Mohammad Jiwani argued that the prosecution had examined four witnesses, who were all coppers. He further argued that there was not a single independent witness in the case, filed on behalf of the state.

He contended that the investigating officer produced CCTV footage, showing two pillion-riding attackers hurling a hand grenade that damaged the boundary wall of the school, but none of them could be clearly identified to determine that they were his clients.

The defence counsel argued that there was no evidence to connect his clients to the commission of the alleged offence and pleaded to the court to acquit them of all charges levelled against them on the basis of mala fide intentions on behalf of the police.

The special public prosecutor claimed that there was ample evidence available on record to establish the role of the suspects in the attack on the school building, which had spread panic and terror. He pleaded to the court to convict them in accordance with the law.

Thousands protest in Spain over gang rape acquittal
The reports do not reveal whether these were native rapists, migrants from elsewhere, or Moslem colonists...
[DAWN] Tens of thousands of Spaniards erupted into the streets of Pamplona on Saturday to protest against the acquittal of five men accused of gang raping an 18-year-old woman at the city’s bull-running festival.

Demonstrators have filled streets across the country since the court ruling on Thursday, leading Spain’s conservative government to say it will consider changing rape laws.

The men were acquitted of sexual assault, which includes rape, and sentenced to nine years for the lesser offence of sexual abuse.

In Pamplona itself, police said that "between 32,000 and 35,000 people" took part in a demonstration on Saturday, rallying under the slogan "it’s not sexual abuse, it’s rape".

The protest passed off without incident, a police front man said. It marks the third day of protests.

Ana Botin, the influential head of Santander, one of Spain’s biggest banks, tweeted that the ruling was "a step back for women’s security" while former judge Manuela Carmena, now Madrid mayor, said it "does not meet women’s demand for justice".

The men, aged 27 to 29, had been accused of raping the woman at the entrance to an apartment building in Pamplona on July 7, 2016, at the start of the week-long San Fermin festival, which draws tens of thousands of visitors.

The five, all from the southern city of Seville, filmed the incident with their smartphones and then bragged about it on a WhatsApp messaging group where they referred to themselves as "La Manada", or "The Pack" in English.

An online petition calling for the disqualification of the judges who passed the sentence gathered more than 1.2 million signatures by Saturday.

Under Spain’s criminal code, evidence of violence or intimidation must exist for the offence of rape to be proved.

But that was a legal nuance that was "not always easy to establish," top-selling daily El Pais wrote in an editorial.

It "leads to the painful question of just how much a person needs to fight to avoid being raped without risking getting killed, and still get recognised as a victim of a serious attack against sexual freedom while ensuring that the perpetrators do not enjoy impunity," the newspaper said.

In their ruling, the judges said that "it is indisputable that the plaintiff suddenly found herself in a narrow and hidden place, surrounded by five older, thick-bodied males who left her overwhelmed and unresponsive.

"The videos show the plaintiff surrounded and stuck against the wall by two of the accused... she has an absent grimace, and keeps her eyes closed," they added.

Possible missile strike causes massive explosion in Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] Several Syrian military bases have been struck by a missile strike in Hama and Allepo provinces, according to a report by local television.

The Syrian Sana news agency has reported earlier that kabooms had been heard near the cities of Hama and Aleppo.

"The arms depot of the 47th brigade of the Syrian army was attacked near Hama. Powerful kabooms and major fire have occurred as a result," a source in Syria’s law enforcement told Sputnik.

According to Surya TV Channel, the syrian army positions have been attacked by a missile strike. According to the channel, the missile strike was conducted at 19:30 GMT.

Earlier, state television
... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
said successive blasts were heard in rural Hama province and that authorities were investigating the cause.

Israel might be responsible for the attack, according to Haaretz.
Haaretz is proud to be known as the New York Times of Israel, with all that entails. Hardly anyone reads it anymore, which is a bad omen for the American New York Times...
Earlier Sunday, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Israel will maintain freedom of operation in Syria, the website reports.

"We have no intention to attack Russia or to interfere in domestic Syrian issues," Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said at the annual Jerusalem Post conference. "But if somebody thinks that it is possible to launch missiles or to attack Israel or even our aircraft, no doubt we will respond and we will respond very forcefully."
The Times of Israel adds:
According to the Orient news outlet, which is affiliated with the Syrian rebels, the blasts occurred in a base belonging to the Syrian army’s 47th Brigade, which is being used by Iran-backed Shiite militias.

The base is located just south of Hama. The facility was said to house a weapons depot, which accounted for the size and intensity of the blast, which could be seen from kilomters away and reportedly registered one seismographs in the area.

The Orient news outlet noted that the base was known to be the headquarters of Iranian bandidos forces of Evil and had been "heavily involved" in attacks against rebel forces in the area.
The naive might suppose those rebels are upset about being attacked...

I'd also look at sticking an engine on one and turn it into a cruise missile.

It's probably overkill for Israel's purposes... but if you could use off-the-shelf components from other weapons to make something that could "plink" artillery weapons from a hundred miles away without needing an airplane.

Ex-US ambassador: Netanyahu announcement on Iran ‘fully coordinated’ with US

Former US ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “significant development” regarding the Iran nuclear deal that he will reveal in a speech this evening has been coordinated with the US.

“Obviously, Netanyahu’s announcement tonight on the Iranian nuclear program is fully coordinated with the US side. The call with Trump yesterday and Pompeo’s visit would have locked it in,” he posts on Twitter.

According Israeli news reports, Netanyahu will reveal intelligence information, based on a large cache of documents recently obtained by Israel, which he believes proves Iran has duped the world regarding the state of its nuclear program.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed a cache of documents he says proves Iran lied to the world about its nuclear program, even after the nuclear deal with the world. "Iran did not come clean about its nuclear program," Netanyahu said in a prime time address in English.

Presenting 55,000 pages of documents and 183 CDs, Netanyahu said Iran hid an "atomic archive" of documents that on its nuclear program.

Iran is "blatantly lying" when it says it doesn't have a nuclear program, Netanyahu claimed, laying out what he claimed was proof Iran had developed and continued to develop its nuclear program.

Netanyahu concluded by saying "Iran lied about never having a secret nuclear program. Secondly, even after the deal, it continued to expand its nuclear program for future use. Thirdly, Iran lied by not coming clean to the IAEA," he said, adding that, "the nuclear deal is based on lies based on Iranian deception."

Trump spoke with Netanyahu over the phone on Sunday to discuss the current situation in the Middle East, the White House said. The readout of their phone conversation stated that they "discussed the continuing threats and challenges facing the Middle East region, especially the problems posed by the Iranian regime’s destabilizing activities."

In a rare move, Netanyahu called the heads of Israel's two news broadcasts and updated them with the content of his planned statement.

Javad Zarif, Iran's foreign minister, said before Netanyahu's speech that the prime minister is just "the boy who can't stop crying wolf at it again."

Three Islamist insurgents surrender in Mindanao
[Mindanao Examiner] The Philippine Army said it has three Islamist insurgents in custody after they surrendered to troops in Lanao del Sur province in Mindanao.

Military spokesman Clint Antipala said the three are members of the so-called Dawlah Islamiah and the Maute group which besieged Marawi City last year and left hundreds of people dead. He said the rebels surrendered in the village of Pawak in Saguiaran town on Friday afternoon.

Regional army commander Roseller Murillo urged other rebels to surrender peacefully. He said, "We are willing to accept surenderees and encourage others to return to the mainstream society. Their surrender is significant and we hope this would inspire other members to do so. Rest assured that we will take care of their welfare."

Britain
Dozens of elite firearms officers who guard Britain's nuclear weapons can't carry guns because they are too UNFIT
[DailyMail] The crisis has emerged after the introduction of more gruelling fitness tests equal to those taken by other armed officers in the UK.

Some MoD police – who protect the nuclear submarine fleet at Faslane, GCHQ’s iconic base in Gloucestershire and Devonport’s historic naval dockyards – have failed the new tests, while others have simply refused to take part.

Last night, former Army officer Leo Docherty MP, who sits on the Defence Select Committee, said: ‘There is absolutely no reason why those serving in the MoD Police should not observe the same high standards of those in the Armed Forces.

The MoD Police protect the country’s nuclear weapons facilities, military bases and intelligence headquarters, while its armed officers have also been deployed on the streets of Britain in the aftermath of terror attacks.

But official documents reveal huge problems within the 2,500-strong force, where more than 30 officers were either sacked or allowed to quit for not patrolling top- security sites properly in a scandal revealed by the MoS last year.
That’s 1.2%, I believe.
The force is 200 officers short,
That’s 7.4% of the target 2,700.
yet faces huge budget cuts that could risk national security, while the new fitness tests have left many officers unable to perform their duties.

David Riddle, chairman of the MoD Police Committee, an independent body which oversees the force, wrote in its annual report: ‘The gap [in officers] is exacerbated by rising levels of sickness absence and officers unfit to perform the full range of duties.

‘In the short term, the problems are likely to get worse because of the number of officers who may fail the fitness standard or health check.’
No doubt.
Until last year, officers – ‘still heavily weighted towards over 50s’ according to the annual report – had to pass a shuttle run test set by the Institute of Naval Medicine and faced no sanction if they failed.

But now they have to complete the test to the more stringent standard expected of firearms officers in other police forces, and will face disciplinary procedures if they fail another three times.
So some have failed a test they were never before asked to pass, but they are given the opportunity to improve.
The annual report warns that the stricter rules ‘could initially produce more officers judged non-capable of carrying out armed duties (by reason of fitness or health)’.
Surely that was expected.
In the first year of the tests, the report said, ‘over 600 officers (around 25 per cent of the force) have not yet come forward to test themselves’.
Possibly they’ve been busy, or they are still in the queue, waiting their turn to be tested.
Another three per cent failed the test,
...that is to say, 75 failed first time. But they have two more chances to try...
while five per cent could not take it for health reasons.

Figures up to March 2017 showed that nine per cent of the workforce is currently assessed as not being capable to carry a firearm, with 60 officers on long-term sick leave, 152 deemed ‘temporarily non-capable’ due to illness, injury or lack of fitness, and another 19 suffering long-term medical conditions.
That’s a total of 231, but 9% of 2,500 is 225.
Eamon Keating, national chairman of the Defence Police Federation, said: ‘Given fitness testing was only introduced two years ago, it should not be a surprise that some officers have struggled to meet these requirements in the absence of any prior assessment.’

The ‘health and capability’ of the officers was described as among the most significant risks facing the force, said the annual report.

But it added that the ‘key issue’ facing the MoD Police was its lack of money. It faced a £15 million cut to its £130 million budget in the past year – ‘delivered at the expense of policing and security services’.

‘The spending cuts mean there is a large gap between resources currently available and the established level of customer requirements,’ the report stated.

WTF??? I understand that introducing a new test will probably lead to failure the first time, but, refuse to take part?

I think we may have found the problem of Merry Old England right here.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian Congress to Convene as Abbas Seeks to Strengthen Hand
[AnNahar] The parliament of the Paleostine Liberation Organization convenes for the first time in decades Monday, as aging President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
seeks to strengthen his hand ahead of the U.S. embassy move to Jerusalem.

Analysts said the three-day meeting of the Paleostinian National Council (PNC) in the West Bank city of Ramallah is unlikely to produce major policy shifts, but it will elect the 18 members of the PLO's executive committee that effectively forms Abbas's cabinet.

More than 100 of the 740-member body will be absent, including dozens allied to Islamists Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", -- the largest Paleostinian party behind Abbas's Fatah -- who have signed a letter opposing the meeting.

On Saturday Hamas called on Abbas to postpone the assembly until unity was reached between rival factions.

The meeting comes as relations between Abbas and U.S. President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's administration have broken down ahead of the controversial relocation of the U.S. embassy, which is set to open in the divided holy city of Jerusalem on May 14.

The PNC has not held a regular session since 1996, and last held an special session in 2009.

- 'Consolidation of power' -
The session is expected to begin Monday night with a lengthy speech from Abbas in which the 82-year-old is likely to address the embassy move, among other topics. His rhetoric has become more agitated as relations with the U.S. have worsened since Trump's December 6 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

That move broke with a decades-old international consensus that the holy city's status should only be determined in negotiations between Israel and the Paleostinians. Paleostinians see annexed east Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. In March, Abbas called U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, a Trump appointee and long-time supporter of Israeli settlements, a "son of a dog."

His position is weakened by the ongoing split with Hamas, which rules Gazoo, after a reconciliation deal collapsed.

Analysts say Abbas, elected to a four-year term in 2005, is seeking to further centralize power within the institutions he controls.

Hugh Lovatt, a regional expert at the European Council for Foreign Relations, said he expected the meeting to "mark a further milestone in Abbas's consolidation of power and marginalization of political rivals."

The names selected for the executive committee will be seen as a key indicator of who is in favor in moderate Paleostinian politics, Lovatt added, and even "provide an indicator of frontrunners in the race to succeed Abbas."

Abbas will be one of three representatives of Fatah, along with long-time chief negotiator Saeb Erekat
...negotiated the Oslo Accords with Israel. He has been chief Paleostinian negotiator since 1995. He is currently negotiating with Israel to establish a de jure Paleostinian state...
and Azzam al-Ahmed, negotiator of the failed reconciliation agreement with Hamas.

Seven smaller parties, excluding Hamas, will each nominate a candidate, while eight independents will also be selected.

At least 10 of the current 18 committee members are expected to be replaced.

"The mere fact that he is looking to an institution that has not met for 20 years just shows how illegitimate he is," said Diana Buttu, a former Abbas employee and now fierce critic.

The split with Hamas has made elections impossible, so he has remained in power without a mandate. She said she was not expecting any serious challenges to his rule, though candidates are seemingly jostling behind the scenes for the post Abbas era.

"They know in this environment not to indicate in any way they want to run against Abbas or seek to position themselves as successor as that is enough to provoke his wrath," she said.

The Times of Israel has a good deal more here, for those interested.

Jamiatul Ulama chief urges Tabligh Jamaat to resolve conflicts
[Dhaka Tribune] Bangladesh Jamaatul Ulama Chairman and imam of Bangladesh’s largest Eid congregation in Sholakia, Kishoreganj Sheikhul Hadis Farid Uddin Masuud has expressed deep concern about the ongoing internal crisis in Tabligh Jamaat.

If the situation is not resolved soon, it will cause irrevocable damage to the Ummah, he said in a statement issued on Sunday.

"Everyone needs to come forward to solve the crisis and maintain unity among Tabligh Jamaat. It is necessary for the Ulama-e-Kiram to sustain a good relationship between themselves," Farid Uddin said.

"Everyone will need to maintain peace and order to keep the works of Tabligh active."

Urging all to solve the crises sensibly, the imam further said: "General people and the Ulama-e-Kiram have always helped each other. They cannot be competitors to each other. It is to be noted that the fatwa declared by Darul Uloom Deoband does not permit anyone to create chaos.

"In this case, we should limit our activities according to the statements made by Darul Uloom Deoband. Maintaining a strict position will not bring good results for anyone; rather, it will impede the works of Tabligh and Islam."

Three infiltration attempts in one evening: 6 Gazans try to cross fence into Israel; 3 shot dead, 3 arrested
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinians attack troops with bombs; separately, others try to damage security fence, enter Israeli territory; 3 locked away

In two separate incidents, one of which included an attack on Israeli forces, troops opened fire on four Paleostinians who tried to enter Israeli territory from the southern Gazoo Strip on Sunday evening, killing three of them, the army said.

In a third case, also in the southern Gazoo Strip, two Paleostinian suspects were jugged
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
after they crossed into Israeli territory, the military said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, in the first incident, two of the Paleostinians were spotted trying to damage the security fence and infiltrate into Israel. IDF soldiers opened fire, killing one of them, and took the second into custody.

"Two suspects tried to cross the border into Israel and damage the security fence in the southern [Gazoo] Strip. One suspect was killed, the other apprehended for questioning," the army said.

Minutes later, the army reported that a second pair of Paleostinian suspects had broken through the security fence and hurled improvised bombs at IDF soldiers.

The troops fired at them, killing the two attackers, the army said.

In the third incident, the two Paleostinians were spotted as they tried to cross the security fence. They were detained, shortly after they made it across the border. The men were found to be in possession of wire-cutters and knives, the army said.

The two men, along with the surviving suspect from the first breach, were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.

The army refused to specify what type of munitions it used against the Paleostinians in the first two incidents, but residents in the area reported hearing loud kabooms, indicating a tank may have been used in at least one of the incidents.

There were no special instructions given to residents of the Israeli communities near Gazoo, despite the multiple security incidents along the border.

Earlier on Sunday, the IDF said it arrested an alleged Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", operative who was attempting to sabotage a security camera near the defunct Karni crossing on the Gazoo border under cover of a dense early morning fog.

Despite the weather, the soldiers tracked the saboteur’s movements and arrested him after he broke the pole on which the camera rested.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit released video footage of the attempted sabotage of the border fence.

"This is yet another terrorist action," the IDF said, accusing Hamas of "taking [such actions] in an attempt to infiltrate into Israeli territory and hurt Israel’s citizens. This is part of a broader effort by Hamas to give its terror efforts a civilian cover and turn the border fence area into a battle zone."

The statement added: "The IDF is determined to carry out its responsibility to defend Israel’s citizens, and won’t allow the security infrastructure that protects them to come to harm."

Sunday night’s festivities brought to 47 the Gazoo corpse count since the start of the riots on March 30, according to statistics from the Strip’s Hamas-run health ministry.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Judge Jeanine to Anybody Not Convinced Comey Was Involved in a Coup: ‘Are You Stupid?'
[Breitbart] During her Saturday opening statement on Fox News Channel’s "Justice," Jeanine Pirro had a question for anyone who was not convinced former FBI Director Jim Comey was involved in an attempted coup to take down President Donald Trump.

"He’s a liar. He’s a leaker. And he’s a leftist liberal. If anyone was not convinced of former FBI Director Jim Comey’s involvement in the attempted coup from within our own government of the duly elected winner of the 2016 presidential election, I have just one question for you ‐ are you stupid?" Pirro asked.

She continued, "Comey’s book tour was supposed to convince us that he was an honorable, likable, decent man doing his darndest to protect the American people and the Constitution. ... Unfortunately for Jim, it didn’t quite work out as planned. In fact, the man is in real legal jeopardy with his leaks being investigated by the Justice Department."

Suspected jihadists kill over 30 Tuaregs in Mali
More on this report from yesterday, but we still do not know which jihadis dunnit.
[DAWN] Suspected jihadists killed more than 30 Tuaregs, including women and kiddies, on Mali’s northeastern border with Niger, several sources said on Saturday as the second such attack in two days stoked fears of widespread unrest.

The former Tuareg rebel group MSA and tribal leaders said the massacre occurred on Friday, a day after another attack by button men on cycle of violences had left 12 people dead outside the town of Anderamboukane, which is also in the same area.

"There have been 43 deaths in two days, all civilians, from the same community," tribal leader Sidigui Ag Hamadi told AFP from the regional capital Menaka.

"Our fighters are destroying their bases and wiping them out. They are targeting innocent civilians," he added, saying he viewed the bloodletting as a reprisal for attacks on jihadists by armed Tuareg groups.

The group urged the governments of Mali and Niger to take steps to ensure that "an immediate end is put to these abominable crimes" and added that it would "not give in to any intimidation."

Two weeks ago, the UN’s MINUSMA peacekeeping operation said they had received "very serious" information that "summary executions of at least 95 people" had occurred during anti-jihadist operations in the northeastern Menaka region carried out by "a coalition of gangs" including MSA and Gatia.
