Eric Reid (Kapernick's Kneeling Buddy) Still Unsigned
Lots of hot NFL free agent action going on this week, except for one guy...
[ESPN] - SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Two days into free agency, many players have signed with new teams or re-signed with their current ones. Safety Eric Reid isn't one of them.

Reid, who was the first player to kneel alongside Colin Kaepernick during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality and systemic oppression, took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to state his feelings on how his protests might be affecting his job search.

Two IDF soldiers killed, two injured after West Bank ramming attack
Two IDF soldiers were killed and two injured after a Palestinian drove his vehicle into them outside the Mevo Dotan settlement in the northern West Bank on Friday in a terror attack.

The ZAKA emergency response organization reported that one of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and according to Magen David Adom, paramedics were treating two victims in moderate to serious condition. All of the victims were in their 20s and evacuated by helicopter to the Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva.

The attack occurred on the 585 highway near the entrance to the West Bank settlement of Mevo Dotan some 10 kilometers southwest of Jenin. The driver, who fled from the scene, was captured by Israeli security forces shortly after the attack and was lightly injured, he was evacuated to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.

The terrorist is 26 years old Allah Kabhha from the village of Barta'a in the West Bank, Israeli security services stated.

Hillay Fractures Her Wrist In The Bathtub
Setting a fine example of potential American leadership, isn't she? I swear she's doing this stuff on purpose just to make Americans look like idiots. With Justin Trudeau looking like a six year-old flinging spaghetti on his tour of India a few weeks ago, I'm sure they have quite the impression of Western political 'leadership'.
[News Weak] - Hillary Clinton has injured her wrist on a book tour of India in another fall while on official duty.

The former US presidential candidate was staying at Umaid Bhawan Palace, the one-time residence of the former royal family of Jodhpur, when she slipped in the bath, DNA India reported.

The former first lady was taken to the private Goyal Hospital at around 5am Wednesday.

#3  The short answer is yes.

The natural instinct is to save the drink at the expense of the fall. The expert, however, is ambidextrous. Furthermore, the professional is simultaneous in skill.

Seeing how she is on 'official duty' and in the bathtub at 4 am, she was likely still trying to sober up when she reached for the bottle for a second glass of wine she lost traction and saved the bottle at the expense of her default pouring limb.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Strategypage: Warplanes: Mysteries Within Mysteries Within Iran
Your Tax Dollars At Work
On February 10th Israel shot down an Iranian Shahed 171 jet powered UAV after it crossed the Israeli-Jordanian border flying at a very low altitude. The Israelis say they tracked the Shahed 171 as it left an Iranian base in central Syria and were able to intercept and shoot it down using an AH-64 helicopter gunship. Israel provided video of the missile hitting the Shahed 171 and later displayed pieces of the wreckage on TV. Before this Iran had never put UAVs like this into a combat zone, much used them to try and fly over Israel. Previously it was unclear if UAVs like this actually existed outside of mockups or altered digital photos.

The last time the Shahed 171 was seen was in late 2016 when Iranian TV showed video of a factory producing clones of the American RQ-170 UAV that crash-landed in Iran during 2011. The video showed 13 of the Iranian clones in a factory-type building. But the 13 UAVs represented three different variations on the original. Two of these appeared to be prototypes of a jet powered RQ-170 (Shahed 171). The other eleven UAVs had the distinctive shape of the RQ-170 but appeared to be designed to use a pusher type propeller in the rear. All this appeared to be another propaganda event, for domestic consumption and to confuse or simply annoy foreigners. Now Israel has one of these Shahed 171s, although not intact. But the way these situations are handled Israeli and American technical personnel are reassembling the Shahed 171 and comparing notes on what the RQ-170 can actually do and what the Shahed 171 appears capable of. The Israeli’s probably already knows a lot about the Shahed 171 and admitted they were able to track this "stealthy" UAV over Syria but won’t say how or how well. Iran has no comment.

While UN tries to get donations for "Palestine"
With the US announcing cuts in aid money to the Palestinians, one might think the Palestinian Authority would try to cut expenses, but an invoice from a hotel stay by top Palestinian officials this month indicates the exact opposite.

The document, obtained by The Jerusalem Post, shows that PA Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and General Intelligence Service chief Majed Faraj, as well as two lower-level officials, stayed at the five-star Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore, racking up a $14,250.20 bill, including room service and minibar purchases such as $42 on champagne, and a $4 Snickers bar.

The entire bill was covered by the PLO Delegation to the US.

The luxury hotel stay came not long after President Donald Trump said the US will no longer send aid money to Ramallah until the Palestinian leadership negotiates with Israel, and after the State Department cut $110 million of aid money to UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees and their descendants. The US is UNRWA’s largest donor. On Thursday, a dozen countries pledged a total of $100m. to UNRWA.

Among Farag’s expenses was a $900 "miscellaneous charges" fee, plus several room service meals, including a $140.09 breakfast, and a late-night room service snack costing $91.31. He also raided the minibar, spending $32 on snacks in one day, including $8 each for some cashews and cookies, and racked up $120 in laundry charges.

Why Won't Barack Obama Go Away?
[American Thinker] Why do those who criticize Donald Trump for not being a "traditional" president fawn over President Obama not being a "traditional" post-presidential citizen?

I would say Michelle and Barack Obama are back in the news, but they've never left the news since the 22nd Amendment mercifully exiled them from the Oval Office last year. When President Clinton took the oath of office in 1992, President George H.W. Bush went away. When President George W. Bush assumed power in 2000, President Clinton went away (until the prospect of being the first gentleman came a-knockin'). When President Obama placed his hand on President Lincoln's Bible in 2008, President Bush went away.

When President Trump made his miraculous win constitutionally official last year, President Obama went away, back to Chicago, to administer the death and destruction left in the wake of 30,000 consecutive days of Democrat rule over the Windy City.

Just kidding: Obama moved into a $5-million D.C. mansion ‐ but only after the wall surrounding the 8,000-square-foot mansion was completely erected. Oh, and Obama's former senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, moved in with the Obamas, which is just bizarrely weird. It's like House of Cards meets Three's Company; rumor has it that Val makes a mean Belgian waffle with an Iranian secret touch.

#13  It's not any kind of surprise. Obama needs a high profile to keep on raking in money for his political sermons, which are heavy on inspiration and light on substance. That money keeps him in the style to which he has become accustomed. Politics has taken the place of traditional religion in modern life.

As Pope of the far left, but without the vow of poverty, he gets to make speeches for mucho dinero as long as he keeps his name in the news. For people who fund his musings before large audiences, it's the equivalent of religious tithing, except it's done with corporate or non-profit money, which is the best way (from a personal financial perspective) to tithe. It's not so much that Obama is a narcissist, as liberals and far leftists alike have anointed him a saint. All Obama is doing is cashing in.

Dem Senator On When Hillary Will Quit Politics:
[Hot Air] Go figure that Heidi Heitkamp, who’s fighting for her political life in the very red state of North Dakota, isn’t keen on Her Majesty’s theory that Trump won all of America’s most racist, backwards-looking places.

Senator to CNN: Are we going to see some Hillary-related attacks ads from the GOP this fall? In a vacuum that would seem pathetic (and will be attacked as pathetic by Democrats, of course), as there’s no sense kicking a presidential loser. Sean Hannity’s nightly fixation on Hillary scandals has become a punchline for liberals on political Twitter, in the belief that she stopped mattering to everyone early on the morning of November 9, 2016. Various elements of her defeat suggested she might receive more than the usual amount of public sympathy for a losing candidate, too. She won the popular vote; she very nearly made history by becoming the first woman president; she endured the heartbreak of losing an election that the whole world expected her to win; and the guy who ended up beating her ain’t real popular these days. After the left’s anger at her for blowing a winnable race subsided, she might have enjoyed a boost in popularity. She could have been a somewhat effective figure for Democrats this year. In theory.

But in practice, Hillary is Hillary. Remember this poll from December?

US military partnering with the Afghan forces to bolster Kabul security
[KhaamaPress] The US military is partnering with the Afghan national defense and security forces to bolster the security of capital Kabul.

The commander of the US Forces in Afghanistan and the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
-led Resolute Support Mission Gen. John Nicholson has said efforts are underway to harden the security of Kabul in a bid to protect the people and international community in the capital city.

"The goal was to establish an inner-ring of security along with an outer-ring of security, and clear everything in between," Gen. Nicholson was quoted as saying in a report by Rooters.

He also added that a group of newly arriving U.S. Army advisers would partner with some of the Afghan troops securing Kabul. Commandos would carry out intelligence-driven raids throughout the city.

Humans bred with this mysterious species more than once, new study shows
[WAPO] We rarely portray Neanderthals, our close relatives, as telegenic. Museum exhibits give them wild tangles of hair, and Hollywood reduces them to grunting unsophisticates. Their skulls suggest broad faces, tiny chins and jutting brows. But to mock Neanderthals is to mock ourselves: Homo sapiens had lots of sex with Homo neanderthalensis. Neanderthal genes supply between 1 percent and 4 percent of the genome in people from homelands on several continents, from Britain to Japan to Colombia.

DNA from another human-like primate, the Denisovans, lurks in modern genomes, too. A molar and a chip of pinkie bone found in a Siberian cave provide what little information we have about this species. DNA extracted from the fragments previously revealed cross-species breeding. Yet a new study in the journal Cell shows the ancient hanky-panky did not stop in Siberia: Humans who traveled across South Asia mated with a separate group of Denisovans as well.

"This is a breakthrough paper," said David Reich, who studies ancient DNA at Harvard University and was not involved with the study. "It's a definite third interbreeding event," one that adds to the previously known Denisovan and Neanderthal mixtures.

#1  Since we're here and they're not, the half-breeds must necessarily have been in H. Sap bands. So either H. Sap went on spring break messing about with H. Nean girls and then returning to kidnap the result, or H. Nean girls were kidnapped into the H. Sap band, or H. Sap girls were impregnated by H. Nean men (and still remain in the H. Sap band). Which brings up the possibility that a H. Nean type, male or female, might have been in a H. Sap band. Needs must when the devil drives and Nean may have had to swallow his social standards.

Huffington Post editor wants to publish fewer ‘white authors'
[Wash Times] White writers need not send their submissions to the Huffington Post.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Chloe Angyal, the popular site’s deputy opinion editor, said one of her goals this month was to ensure less than 50 percent of content was published by "white authors."

Ms. Angyal said she keeps close tabs on the races and genders of contributors to the opinion page and would like to publish more transgender and Hispanic authors.

I check our numbers at the end of every week, because it’s easy to lose track or imagine you’re doing better than you really are, and the numbers don’t lie.

Ga. parents furious after 7-year-old, ‘the only white girl in her class,' cast to play supremacist
[Wash Times] A Georgia school district is investigating after a 7-year-old student, "the only white girl in her class," according to her father, was cast to play a segregationist in a school play.

In a video of the play, 7-year-old Anastasia Bertram, playing the part of a segregationist, yelled at a group of black children to "go away, you don’t belong here!" She then marched with a sign that read, "Go home," on one side and "Cursed is the man who integrates" on the other, ABC-affiliated WSB-TV reported.

Douglas County School District said it is investigating the March 2 incident at Burnett Elementary School in Douglasville, after the girl’s parents complained that they were never notified about their daughter’s involvement in the play, and that they had no idea the nature of her role until they were sitting in the audience.

Europe
Police swoop on Turkish biker gang in nationwide raids
[TheLocal.de] On Tuesday morning, officers in three German states raided properties belonging to "Osmanen Germania" - a Ottoman Turkish nationalist biker gang with suspected links to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey’s President.

The early morning searches were centred around the western state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where police raided 41 different properties. In some instances special forces led the operations, as the bikers are considered potentially dangerous.

Police in Hesse also swooped on ten of the gang's properties, while the Stuttgarter Zeitung has reported that police in Baden-Wurttemberg were involved in raids in four towns and at a prison where some of the gang's leaders are serving time.

The Interior Ministry said that they had the strong suspicion that the gang’s activities and aims were illegal.

"The federal government and the states showed with these operations that we don’t tolerate criminality, regardless of what part of society it comes from," said acting Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière.

The interior minisrty in NRW has previously alleged that the "Osmanen Germania" have links to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
’s ruling AKP party and to people in Ottoman Turkish President Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey...
’s inner circle.

Osmanen Germania are registered as a Verein (club) with the stated purpose of providing boxing training to vulnerable young people. But the Interior Ministry claims that their real purpose is to control the streets through violence and to grow their power against other biker gangs.

The Interior Ministry said that Tuesday’s measures were not aimed at a ban on the "Osmanen Germania", but at this stage it is hoped that evidence collected during the raids will provide more clarity on their activities.

Cossack Fighter Laments Russian 'Utilization' Of Mercenaries In Syria
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty interview with Russian Cossack ataman (head man) and sometime mercenary Yevgeny Shabayev.
ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- Russia is abuzz with media reports that dozens -- perhaps hundreds, by some accounts -- of Russian mercenaries were killed or wounded in the eastern Syrian city of Deir al-Zor on February 7-8 in fighting with the U.S. military and its Syrian-rebel allies.

The Russian government has been reluctant to talk about the incident, saying on February 15 that "about five" Russians "may have been killed" and, on February 20, that "several dozen" Russian and other former Soviet citizens were injured. The United States has estimated that about 100 fighters were killed in the incident, without specifying their nationalities.

Many of the wounded mercenaries from the Vagner commercial security firm have been evacuated to Russia and are being treated in military hospitals. RFE/RL Russian Service correspondent Yelizaveta Mayetnaya visited one such hospital outside St. Petersburg, where she spoke with Yevgeny Shabayev, the ataman of the Khovrino Cossack organization and a sometime mercenary.

Shabayev had just finished visiting eight of the wounded mercenaries. He agreed to talk with RFE/RL about the fighting in Syria and about how and why Russians end up going there. His assertions -- including about burials and casualties, remuneration and compensation, deployments, or purported meetings in the Kremlin -- have not been corroborated by RFE/RL.

RFE/RL: You've just finished visiting the wounded soldiers. What did they tell you about the night they were injured?

#1  Shabayev: The main reason why they go there is that they have no life here. No work and no social or economic status, neither as former military with specific experience nor as simple citizens. They went as hired soldiers to protect [oligarch] Yevgeny Prigozhin's pipeline, since they were guarding the oil fields around Palmyra.

Some here might be able to relate.

More on The Hill story: Inside the shady private equity firm run by Kerry and Biden's sons
[NY Post] “My frustration,” writes Peter Schweizer in his new book, “Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends,” “is not that the solid reporting on Trump has been too tough, but that the reporting on the Obama administration has been way too soft or in some cases nonexistent.” The author of the 2016 sensation “Clinton Cash” says Trump and his children didn’t invent the blurring of government and business, and details a number of ethical violations on both sides of the political aisle. One example: the little-noticed private equity firm run by the sons of Democrats Joe Biden and John Kerry, as detailed in this exclusive first excerpt.

Joe Biden and John Kerry have been pillars of the Washington establishment for more than 30 years. Biden is one of the most popular politicians in our nation’s capital.

His demeanor, sense of humor, and even his friendly gaffes have allowed him to form close relationships with both Democrats and Republicans. His public image is built around his “Lunch Bucket Joe” persona. As he reminds the American people on regular occasions, he has little wealth to show for his career, despite having reached the vice presidency.

One of his closest political allies in Washington is former senator and former Secretary of State John Kerry. “Lunch Bucket Joe” he ain’t; Kerry is more patrician than earthy. But the two men became close while serving for several decades together in the US Senate. The two “often talked on matters of foreign policy,” says Jules Witcover in his Biden biography.

So their sons going into business together in June 2009 was not exactly a bolt out of the blue.

But with whom their sons cut lucrative deals while the elder two were steering the ship of state is more of a surprise.

French ‘Islamic State executioner’ killed: sources
[IsraelTimes] Born a Catholic, Maxime Hauchard, who was radicalized online before joining terrorist group, is believed to have died last summer

Maxime Hauchard, a French jihadist sought by French and US authorities since appearing in an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. execution video in Syria, has been killed, sources close to the inquiry told AFP on Thursday.

"The date and circumstances of his death aren’t yet known, but it appears he died in the summer of 2017," one of the sources said.

Hauchard, who grew up in a village in Normandy before converting from Catholicism to Islam, was just 22 when he was seen holding a knife to the neck of US aid worker Peter Kassig in a gruesome video from November 2014.

The video also showed the execution of 18 Syrians identified as military personnel.

La Belle France soon issued an international arrest warrant, and the US State Department added Hauchard to its black list of "specially designated global terrorists."

Investigators later found that Hauchard became radicalized online, joining jihadist forums under the moniker Abu Abdullah al-Faransi ("the Frenchie").

He twice travelled to Mauritania between October 2012 and May 2013 for studies in Salafism, the radical branch of Islam.

In August 2013 he left for Syria via The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund....
, telling his family he wanted to "help the maimed" in the country’s civil war, but in fact he was taken under the wing of IS recruiters.

"To show allegiance, you must first go to a training camp. The first stage lasts around a month. We do some training, we go on operations and after that we return to training. It’s not just theory," he told a French TV station in July 2014.

A few months later IS released the video showing the execution of Kassig and the Syrian soldiers, in which Hauchard was shown with his face uncovered.

He emerged again in November 2015, a few days after the Gay Paree terror attacks that killed 130 people, warning on Twitter: "Brazil, you’re our next target," a reference to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

The French government says about 1,700 Frenchies have left to fight alongside IS in Iraq and Syria since 2014.

More than 300 French jihadists, including 12 women, have been killed during the fight against IS in Iraq and Syria since then, while about 730 adults and 500 children are still there.

The interior ministry says 256 French jihadists have returned to La Belle France, along with 78 minors.

IDF suspects anti-tank missile also fired at troops in morning IED attack along Gaza fence
[IsraelTimes] Army describes early-morning assault as 'very serious' despite lack of Israeli casualties; military still unsure who's behind it, but attacks Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",, Islamic Jihad positions

An initial investigation of Thursday morning’s attack on a military patrol outside the Gazoo Strip revealed that in addition to the two improvised bombs detonated along the security fence, an anti-tank missile was also apparently fired at the troops, the army said.

The army described the early-morning attack as "very serious," despite the fact that no soldiers were maimed and no significant damage was caused to the vehicle.

Meredith moves to sell Time, Fortune and Sports Illustrated titles
[ARABNEWS] US media company Meredith Corp. has hired advisers to explore a sale of its Time, Fortune, Money and Sports Illustrated magazines following its $1.84 billion acquisition of Time Inc. in January, people familiar with the matter said.

The move illustrates how Meredith sees some of Time Inc’s titles that attract primarily male readership as not playing to its core strength in women’s magazines, which include Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle and Martha Stewart Living.

The Des Moines, Iowa-based company has tapped investment banks Citigroup Inc. and Houlihan Lokey Inc. to find potential buyers for the magazines, the sources said this week. There is no certainty that a divestiture will occur, the sources added.

While it’s possible that media, telecommunications or technology companies could express an interest in the magazines, a sale to wealthy individuals, such as philanthropists or billionaires, is viewed by Meredith as more likely, according to one of the sources.

The sources asked not to be identified because details of the sale process are confidential. Citigroup declined to comment, while Houlihan Lokey did not immediately return a request for comment.

“We are in fact exploring a number of additional changes to the (magazine) portfolio, including divestitures of brands and businesses that might perform better under a different owner,” Meredith CEO Steven Lacy told investors at a Deutsche Bank conference earlier this month.

Afghanistan
Afghan baby named Donald Trump proves divisive
[ARABNEWS] When Asadullah Poya’s wife gave birth to their third child in a tiny village in rural Afghanistan, he immediately thought of Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
Not Donald Trump the upstart politician, who at that time was in the thick of the 2016 presidential campaign, but Donald Trump the celebrity businessman. He had just recently read a Dari translation of what appears to be "Trump: How to Get Rich," published in 2004 by the then-star of "The Apprentice," and was transfixed.

"I loved his personality. I thought he is the best at economics and he is great at politics," Poya said. "I thought ’This is a great man.’ I liked the way he decides he wants something and then he goes and gets it."

So when his baby came into the world in August 2016, and he saw that the boy had an unusual shock of blond hair, he named him Donald Trump, hoping it would bring him good fortune.

It hasn’t.

Poya’s own parents were furious that he had given their grandchild a non-Moslem name. The imam of the village mosque devoted an entire Friday sermon to the matter, calling the name an insult. The opposition doesn’t have much to do with President Trump’s politics, but with the decision to break with tradition and name the boy for a non-Moslem.

"Every day the situation got worse," Poya said. "Every day in the house, when I was calling my son Trump, my father got angrier and angrier, until finally my father couldn’t tolerate it anymore."

Oklahoma to use nitrogen gas for executions
Oklahoma plans to use nitrogen gas as its preferred method of execution when it resumes using the death penalty, the first US state to do so.

The announcement was made by State Attorney General Mike Hunter and Corrections Director Joe Allbaugh.

Capital punishment has been on hold in Oklahoma for three years amid problems with the lethal injection method.

Mr Hunter told a news conference on Wednesday that nitrogen was easy to obtain and led to a painless death.

Authorities will work together over the coming months to develop new protocols, the two men added. It is not clear exactly how soon executions will resume.

#16  killing them the way they killed others

Precisely. Years ago in Pittsburgh, a couple gangbangers were shooting it out. A little kid in the back seat of a car at a gas station was killed by a stray bullet.

1) Not premeditated, so death penalty not even in play. Stupid.

2) The way to handle that incident (in my mind) would be to bring the shooter back to the scene of the crime, handcuff him to a street sign, bring every gangbanger from every lockup and jail around, say "You know why we are all here," and then shoot him in the head. I'm betting there'd be some deterrent value in that.

Peter Thiel: Europe is cracking down on Silicon Valley out of 'jealousy'
[TheGuardian] PayPal co-founder says regulators envy industry’s success in US: ‘There are no successful tech companies in Europe’.

European regulators are clamping down on Silicon Valley companies because they are “jealous” of the success of the technology industry in the US, according to PayPal co-founder and investor Peter Thiel.

Speaking about the looming threat of regulation for these companies, Thiel said that the “threat is probably greater in Europe” and there are “good reasons and bad reasons”.

“The good reasons are these privacy concerns and the bad reasons are there are no successful tech companies in Europe and they are jealous of the US so they are punishing us,” he said at the Economic Club of New York on Thursday.

And now they're going to be so shocked that China and the EU will be (or in the case of China, already has) erected barriers designed to make sure they control the software industry instead.

Scientists Finally Observed Time Crystals‐But What the Hell Are They?
“The experiments are beautiful and open up a new class of states of matter that really qualitatively are new and fascinating in their own right,” MIT theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate Frank Wilczek told Gizmodo. Wilczek proposed time crystals in 2012, while wondering whether certain properties changing in time, rather than in space, could yield new phases of matter. He said “the new discoveries... are certainly a recognizable descendant of the original vision and have retained the name.”

Physical laws are laden with symmetries—instances where an action produces the same reaction in a different environment. If you punch a solid wall with the same force, it will hurt equally no matter where along the length of the wall you punch it or what time of day it is—those are spatial and time translation symmetries. Some symmetries can break. Crystals, solids where particles arrange themselves in a lattice, break a so-called spatial translational symmetry, since the molecules prefer a specific place in space. If you had a picket fence instead of a solid wall, that might break a spatial translational symmetry, since punching a picket feels different than punching the space between planks.

Wilczek’s idea was simple: Can molecules break time translational symmetry? Can certain solids crystallize in time, preferring different states at different time intervals? That question became: Do certain periodic behaviors of a collection of atoms have preferred tempos? This would kind of be like 17-year cicadas—they could come every year, but instead they break a time translational symmetry, since they clump on the 17th year rather than appearing evenly every year.

French police issue arrest warrant for Saudi princess
[TheGuardian] Princess Hassa bint Salman, sister of crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, sought on suspicion of ordering bodyguard to beat up man.

The arrest warrant which names princess Hassa bint Salman using a French spelling of her name, Hussat ben Salmane, was issued in late December, a source said, confirming a report by Le Point magazine.

The alleged victim was hired to carry out some refurbishment work at the princess’s apartment, located on the ultra-expensive Avenue Foch in western Paris, in September 2016.

He maintains that he took a photograph of the room that he was set to work on and was accused of taking pictures to sell them to the media.

The worker alleges that the princess then ordered her bodyguard to beat him up.

He says he was punched in the face, his hands were tied and he was then forced to kiss the princess’s feet.

The bodyguard was charged on 1 October 2016 with armed violence, theft, issuing death threats and holding someone against their will.

Lions of Islam during the last three weeks as operations continue to clear Kirkuk from remnant Death Eaters, a commander was quoted saying in a statement on Thursday.

Abu Hossam al-Sahlani, commander of Kirkuk operations at the Popular Mobilization Forces, said troops killed 80 members of the krazed killer group over the past 20 days.

He said the troops have also managed to seize large quantities of ammunition the group was using for terrorist plots.

Iraqi troops reinforced their presence in Kirkuk and launched operations to purge the province from remaining Death Eater cells following an ambush set up by the Lions of Islam in mid February left 27 mobilization members dead mid February.

Iraq declared victory over Islamic State Lions of Islam and the recapture of all of the group’s strongholds in December, but forces continue to hunt for remnant Lions of Islam hiding at desert areas. IS Lions of Islam have also staged occasional attacks against civilians and security forces, which stoked fears that the group my still pose a coppersace even after security forces had retaken all of its strongholds.

In October, Iraqi forces took over Kirkuk from Kurdish Peshmerga groups which held the province since the emergence of IS Lions of Islam in 2014.

Syria regime controls 70 percent of Ghouta enclave: monitor
[DAWN] The Syrian regime and allied forces have taken control of more than two-thirds of the rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta on the outskirts of Damascus, a monitor said on Thursday.

"The regime controls more than 70 per cent of besieged Eastern Ghouta," Rami Abdel Rahman, the head of the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP.

Earlier, Syria's army had captured the key town of Hammuriyeh in a southern pocket of Eastern Ghouta after rebels pulled back and thousands of residents fled.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Hammuriyeh fell to regime forces after rebels from Faylaq al-Rahman withdrew.

More than 12,000 Syrians flee opposition-held eastern Ghouta

[IsraelTimes] More than 12,000 people poured out of Syria’s Eastern Ghouta, a monitor says, calling it the "largest displacement" since government troops launched their assault on the rebel enclave.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says residents were fleeing battlefront towns in a southern pocket of Eastern Ghouta after regime forces opened up a corridor into loyalist territory.

The mass exit comes hours after Syrian government forces blanketed the town with Arclight airstrikes and rocket fire.

Afghan hostage escapes after killing seven Taliban captors in Paktika
[DAWN] An Afghan man taken hostage by the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
made a dramatic escape by stealing a gun while his captors were praying and shooting dead seven of them and wounding 18 others, officials said Thursday.
Ooh! Ooh! We seen dis movie! It had Bruce Stallone in it, or somebody!
Awal Khan and a local police officer were kidnapped on Wednesday as they were driving in the eastern province of Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
, provincial deputy security chief Abdul Rauf Masood told AFP.

Paktika is a Taliban stronghold bordering Pakistain.

The officer was killed and 36-year-old Awal taken to a Taliban compound in Gomal district where he was held for hours.

During afternoon prayers, Awal, who Masood said was handcuffed at the time, grabbed a weapon belonging to one of his captors and opened fire.

"Awal Khan sprayed bullets on all of them, killing seven and wounding 18 others," provincial governor front man Mohammad Rahman Ayaz told AFP.

Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed to AFP that the group had kidnapped the two men and that Awal had opened fire on the bully boys, killing three of them.

Awal then fled in a pickup truck belonging to his kidnappers, Ayaz said.

His brother, a local police commander, shared details of the incident with authorities.

US military helicopter crashes in Iraq near Syrian border, fatalities feared
[TheGuardian] A HH-60 helicopter crashed near al-Qaim, a town in Anbar province, according to a US official

A US military aircraft carrying US service members crashed in western Iraq, US Central Command said in a statement late on Thursday.

“Rescue teams are responding to the scene of the downed aircraft at this time,” the statement said.

The aircraft is thought to be a HH-60 helicopter, which crashed near al-Qaim, a town in Anbar province close to the Syrian border, according to a US official citing initial reports.

The helicopter was carrying seven people and fatalities were “likely”, the official told Reuters.

The mayor of al-Qaim, Ahmed al-Mahlawi, also told Reuters there were seven people on board.
Update from An Nahar at 2:15 p.m. ET:
Seven US Troops Killed in Iraq Helicopter Crash

Seven US troops were killed when the helicopter carrying them crashed in western Iraq, a US defense official said Friday.

"There were seven people aboard, they are all believed to be dead," the official said, adding they were US service members.

"It was a routine troop transport operation going from Iraq to Syria, nothing out of the ordinary."

A Pentagon statement said the crash involved a Sikorsky HH-60 Pave Hawk and did not appear to be a result of enemy activity.

An accompanying US helicopter reported the crash and a quick reaction force comprised of Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition members secured the scene.

"This tragedy reminds us of the risks our men and women face every day in service of our nations. We are thinking of the loved ones of these service members today," Brigadier General Jonathan Braga said.

"We are grateful to the Iraqi Security Forces for their immediate assistance in response to this tragic incident."

The identities of those killed will be released after next of kin are notified.

CNN: US military reveals new firefight in Niger
[CNN] The US military revealed for the first time Wednesday that US troops were involved in a firefight in Niger in December, just months after a Green Beret-led team was ambushed by ISIS militants in October, an attack that left four US soldiers dead.

In a statement provided to CNN by Pentagon spokeswoman Maj. Sheryll Klinkel, the US military said that "during a mission in the Lake Chad Basin region the morning of Dec. 6, a combined force of Nigerien and US military members came under fire from a formation of violent extremists."

The military stressed that US troops were not seeking combat and that the joint US-Nigerien mission was aimed at setting "the conditions for future partner-led operations against violent extremist organizations in the region," adding that "no aspect of this mission focused on pursuing enemy militants."

"With that said, our forces do operate in unstable areas and are occasionally exposed to danger from enemy forces. When such a situation occurs, our personnel are authorized to respond to threats and violence appropriately," the statement added.

Turkish-led assault on Syria's Afrin displaced 30,000 in a day
[DAWN] A Ottoman Turkish-led offensive to capture the Kurdish-majority enclave of Afrin in northern Syria has forced 30,000 civilians from its main city in 24 hours, a monitor said on Thursday.

"More than 30,000 people were displaced since yesterday (Wednesday) as a result of Ottoman Turkish bombardment against the city," the Britannia-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

"They went to areas controlled by the Syrian regime and to the outskirts of the city" under the control of Kurdish militia, the monitoring group said.

On January 20, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
launched a major ground and air offensive on the Afrin enclave, with the support of Syrian Arab rebel proxies.

It claims to have now almost completely encircled the region's main city of Afrin.

An AFP correspondent inside the city saw hundreds of families cramming into the back of pick-up trucks and onto tractor-drawn carts as they prepared to leave the city via the only remaining exit.

Those who stayed behind formed long queues outside shops to buy bread and various food goods in preparation for a fully fledged siege by Ottoman Turkish and allied forces.

Sialkot police officer suspended after being filmed manhandling girl
[DAWN] A police officer in Sialkot who was caught on video manhandling a child during a raid on a residence in the Dhera Sindha area was suspended from active duty on Thursday.

The video, which went viral on social media, shows a police officer identified as Sadar Police Station's Sub-Inspector Tahir grabbing a girl sitting on a cycle of violence ─ believed to be between 4-7 years old ─ by her arm and tossing her harshly onto the ground at her family's home on Wednesday.

The girl's father, who is currently embroiled in an ongoing dispute with relatives, told DawnNewsTV that despite securing interim bail in the case, coppers had raided his home and misbehaved with his family, including the person shooting the video, who was allegedly subjected to physical violence and abusive language.

District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Asad Sarfaraz took notice of the incident and also condemned it.

"The police officer in question has been suspended," he said, adding: "Disrespect shown by any person in uniform towards the public will not be tolerated."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
U.S. Sanctions Russian Intelligence Services
[Free Beacon] The Trump administration on Thursday imposed economic sanctions on 19 Russians and two Russian intelligence agencies for their role in the 2016 election meddling and costly cyber attacks and penetrations.

The Russian spy agencies included the Federal Security Service and the GRU military intelligence service, along with six GRU officers.

No FSB officers were named in the Treasury Department list of sanctioned Russians, although 13 Russians indicted last month in a separate action, were named.

The Russians are linked to the Internet Research Agency, a St. Petersburg operation that used social media to interfere with the presidential election.

Government officials did not say whether the Internet Research Agency was a front organization for the Russian government.

Officials also revealed that Russian cyber actors conducted reconnaissance into industrial control systems related to the U.S. electrical grid in a bid to obtain sensitive information that could be used in future attacks aimed at shutting down power networks.

"The administration is confronting and countering malign Russian cyber activity, including their attempted interference in U.S. elections, destructive cyber-attacks, and intrusions targeting critical infrastructure," Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin said in announcing the sanctions.

"These targeted sanctions are a part of a broader effort to address the ongoing nefarious attacks emanating from Russia," he stated.

Additional action will be taken under new legislation known as the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, Mnuchin said, "to hold Russian government officials and oligarchs accountable for their destabilizing activities by severing their access to the U.S. financial system."

The sanctions were the first to be imposed under the new law, as well as an executive order related to cyber security.

On the election meddling, the officials said the Russians used false online personas to conduct influence operations that they said affected millions of Americans during the election.

Regarding the infrastructure cyber attacks, officials said since at least March 2016 Russian government cyber attacks were carried out on multiple U.S. critical infrastructures, including energy, nuclear, commercial facilities, water, aviation, and critical manufacturing networks.

Mystery shrouds disappearance of gold crown gifted to Maryam Nawaz in Sargodha
[DAWN] The ’disappearance’ of gold crown worth Rs2 million offered by Mayor Malik Aslam Naveed to Maryam Nawaz during her address to social media convention here on Feb 24 is shrouded in mystery.

Reports said the mayor had gifted the crown to Maryam Nawaz who directed that it should be donated to any local orphanage. The mayor said he didn’t know about the crown [now].

Muhammad Latif, a philanthropist affiliated with Allah Tawakli, a local charity, said this institution is located adjacent to the residence of MNA Chaudhry Hamid Hameed who had arranged the social media convention.

He said the MNA should have delivered the gift to it or the orphanage. "So far as I know no institution has received the gift."

When asked, the MNA was also ignorant about the issue.

Inside the Ring: Pakistani Covert Support for Taliban Revealed
[Wash Times via Free Beacon] Gen. Joseph L. Votel, commander of the Central Command, disclosed in congressional testimony this week that despite a new U.S. policy of pressuring Pakistan, the Islamabad government is still supporting the Taliban terrorist group in the border region with Afghanistan.

Asked during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing Tuesday if Pakistan is continuing to back terrorist activity in Afghanistan, Gen. Votel said the U.S. pressure campaign has produced some "positive indicators" of a shift.

However, on the question of continued Pakistani support, Gen. Votel noted: "I cannot tell you that we have seen decisive changes in the areas in which we’re working, but I remain very well-engaged with my partner to ensure that we are moving forward on this."

UAE used Libya frozen assets in its banks to boost military grip of warlord Haftar
[Libya Observer] A Libyan high ranking official disclosed that the UAE used Libya’s frozen assets in its banks to back up the military operations of Libyan eastern warlord, Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, as well as other allies in Libya, pointing out that it also used the money to fund the building of its military base in Libya, besides the funding of Libyan media outlets in Jordan.

The New Arab reported the Libyan official as saying that Libyan parties are part of the "theft" of the Libyan frozen assets in coordination with UAE.

"The funding of the Kharouba ‐ Khadim ‐ military base in eastern Libya is mysterious and there are other countries taking part in it. US, Europe
...also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and Russia all gave the green light for the funding as they have interests in the UAE, not to mention the political complexities related to the building of such a military base." The official told The New Arab.

He added, that the UAE is using the 50 billion dollars frozen in its banks to fund operations in support of Haftar, including two Libyan TV channels in Amman, Jordan.

"There is also training of armed fighters of Haftar’s forces in countries like Jordan and buying weapons and military equipment from Russia, Ukraine and Canada to support Haftar’s operations and send them via Tobruk port. Then Kharouba military base was expanded to facilitate the incoming weapons to Haftar." The source added.

Last Saturday, the second deputy head of the High Council of State (HCS) Mohammed Emazib said the United Arab Emirates sent Libyan eastern warlord Haftar money from the Libyan frozen assets in Abu Dhabi, calling on the UAE to reveal the details for such actions.

The UN froze Libyan assets in 2011 so that it prevented Moamar Qadaffy from seizing Libya’s assets ‐ tens of billions around the world.

Bodies of Copts killed by Daesh on Libyan beach ‘will be returned to Egypt’
[ARABNEWS] The remains of 20 Egyptian Coptic Christians beheaded by ISIS bandidos turbans on a beach in Libya three years ago will be repatriated, local media has reported.

Egypt’s state-run al-Ahram newspaper quoted a senior Libyan official as saying that DNA taken from the bodies of the victims had been handed over to Egypt’s top prosecutor so they could be matched with samples from the victims’ families.

Al-Seddik al-Sur, director of the attorney general’s office, reportedly told a presser: "Libyan authorities will repatriate the remains of the martyred Copts to Egypt." He did not specify a date for their repatriation.

Twenty-one Coptic Christians working in Libya had their heads chopped off by ISIS bandidos turbans on a beach near the city of Sirte, then a murderous Moslem stronghold, in February 2015. Their bodies were found more than a year later.

The case shocked Egypt and underlined the turbans’ growing reach across the Middle East and North Africa.

Twenty of the victims were found to be Egyptian, while one of them was of unknown African nationality. Reports said he was Ghanaian.

Soon after carrying out the killings ISIS posted a graphic video of the incident, vowing to fight those they described as "crusaders."

Dressed in orange overalls, the Copts were forced to the ground and then decapitated by the masked, knife-wielding murderous Moslems.

The horrific footage prompted Egypt to launch retaliatory Arclight airstrikes against ISIS affiliates in Libya, a country that has been mired in turmoil since a popular uprising backed by a NATO

ATC hands life sentence to man in Kasur child abuse case
[DAWN] An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty in the Kasur child abuse scandal.

ATC judge Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas announced the verdict against Haseem Amir in one of the 29 cases police had registered since the child abuse ring was uncovered in 2015.

Other suspects, including Aleem Asif, Naseem Shahzad and Maqsood Sindhi, were acquitted by the court over lack of evidence.

Amir was punished in FIR number 248/15 registered by Ganda Singhwala police. He has already been sentenced to life in prison in at least two other cases after the prosecution accused Amir and others of sexually assaulting young boys and filming the act to blackmail their families.

In Hussain Khanwala village in Kasur, videos were made of at least 280 children being sexually abused by a gang who later blackmailed their parents by threatening to leak the videos and received money from them.

The police, who had conspicuously failed to act despite pleas from some parents, eventually made dozens of arrests after festivities between relatives and authorities brought the issue into the media spotlight.

In March 2016, the Senate also passed a bill that criminalised sexual assault against minors, child pornography and trafficking for the first time ‐ previously only the acts of rape and sodomy were punishable by law.

Police had registered a total of 34 cases regarding the Kasur child abuse scandal. However,
corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds...
a joint investigation team had dismissed five cases as fake.

Last month, the ATC had awarded life sentence to three people, including Amir, that were nominated in one of the cases regarding the scandal. The three convicts were also slapped with a fine of Rs500,000 each.

Kasur has been in the limelight for recurring cases of child abuse in the area. Earlier in February, an ATC had awarded death sentence to the rapist and murderer of six-year-old Zainab in a high profile case that had sparked anger across the country with #JusticeForZainab becoming a rallying cry for an end to violence against children.

Erhouma is from al-Rajban, which is a western district that is known for supporting Dignity Operation of Khalifa Haftar

Iran has mostly halted harassing US ships in Persian Gulf — Pentagon chief
[IsraelTimes] Vessels mostly staying away from American ships, though unclear why behavior changed, Mattis says; Yemen coast being used as weapons proving ground

Iranian naval vessels in the Persian Gulf have become less provocative toward US ships, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Thursday, even as he blasted Tehran’s behavior elsewhere in the region.

Mattis said ships from both the regular Iranian navy and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps have curtailed the sorts of incidents that had become almost routine over the past few years, and are now staying away from American ships.

"In the Gulf itself, they are not coming in as close to our ships, the provocative actions in the Gulf seem to have relented somewhat," Mattis said.

"They are not doing as many bellicose confrontations and that sort of thing."

The change comes despite increased rhetoric from Washington about Iran’s "malign influence" in the region and US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
’s continual railing against the Iran nuclear deal.

Earlier, Commander Bill Urban, front man for the Navy’s Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet, said there had been no "unsafe or unprofessional" interactions with the Iranians at sea since August 14, 2017 when an Iranian drone with no lights on flew close to US aircraft operating in the Gulf.

It "is a substantial period time since then, and something that we think is great," Urban told news hounds.

"We have seen an across-the-board change in behavior."

Last year and in 2016, the US Navy frequently complained about the behavior of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels, which would often shadow and steer toward American ships.

In at least one incident, US sailors had to fire flares and warning shots before the Iranians turned away.

Urban said that since then, the Iranians have stopped approaching so closely.

Mattis, a longtime Iran hawk, accused Tehran of "destabilizing" behavior across the region and said that off the Yemen coast around the Bab-al-Mandab strait, the Islamic Theocratic Republic is testing a number of offensive capabilities.

"It’s where you find (Iran’s) radars, their ballistic missiles, anti-ship cruise missiles," Mattis said.

"We’ve found their mines, their explosive boats all being tested, increased capability being demonstrated down there."

Fifth Fleet and its associated task forces continually patrol the Gulf and inspect some of the ships passing through the region.

In 2016, sailors seized weapons apparently headed from Iran to Yemen, including machine guns and rocket launchers.

Urban said task forces this year have seized record amounts of heroin, much of which may have been grown in Afghanistan to fund the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
For the first eight months of 2017, the Navy recorded 14 instances of what it describes as "unsafe and/or unprofessional" interactions with Iranian forces. It recorded 35 in 2016 and 23 in 2015.

The incidents at sea almost always involved the Revolutionary Guard, a paramilitary force that reports only to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some analysts believe the incidents are meant in part to squeeze moderate President Hassan Rouhani’s administration after the 2015 nuclear deal.

Of the incidents at sea last year, the worst involved Iranian forces capturing and holding overnight 10 US sailors who strayed into the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s territorial waters.

Iranian forces in turn accuse the US Navy of unprofessional behavior, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, the mouth of the Persian Gulf, through which a third of all oil traded by sea passes.

"Despite" is the wrong word for this sentence. The appropriate expression is "due to".

Here's an illuminating passage from Wikipedia:

Butterfield is the eponym for "The Butterfield Effect", used to refer to a person who "makes a statement that is ludicrous on its face, yet it reveals what the speaker truly believes", especially if expressing a supposed paradox when a causal relationship should be obvious.[5][6] The particular article that sparked this was titled "More Inmates, Despite Drop In Crime" by Butterfield in the New York Times on November 8, 2004.[7]

PLA website confirms sea trial of shipborne railgun
[ATimes]Recent reports by Chinese media confirm previous rumors that the PLA had mounted a railgun on a landing ship.

China is also set to be the first country to mount a railgun on a warship. The PLA landing ship Haiyang Shan, carrying what appeared to be a shipborne railgun, was seen undergoing tests at a dock in Wuhan before its reported sea trail this year.

Zhang Xiao, associate research fellow at the Wuhan-based PLA Naval University of Engineering, said the breakthrough was a hard-won result after hundreds of failures and more than 50,000 tests.

She also led a team that scaled the technical hurdles of installing shipborne electromagnetic launching systems, believed to be planned for use in future Chinese aircraft carriers.

Exclusive: Trump finalizing opioid plan that includes death penalty for dealers
CDC says there were 64,000 U.S. drug overdose deaths in 2016, mostly involving opioids, a 28 per cent jump from 2015

Trump suggested Saturday in Pennsylvania that drug dealers who broadly push lethal narcotics should be treated like any other mass killer in federal courts

Plan expected to be rolled out Monday in New Hampshire also will make it easier for Medicaid to pay for inpatient drug rehab

And it will tell the DOJ to seek mandatory-minimum sentences in more drug trafficking cases that involve opioids like the synthetic drug Fentanyl

#12  Because banning things always works so well.

It works pretty well in the places where it's been instituted. But it will require funding to expedite trials. If arrest to exhaustion of appeals followed by execution (or acquittal) can be reduced to 5 years, I expect we will see a general fall in supply. The moment a single pill mill doctor is given the needle is probably the last you'll ever hear of pill mill doctors.

Note that I am for complete legalization of drugs. But the way I see it, drugs either need to be completely legal or completely illegal. Completely illegal means a noose as the end point for purveyors of the product. What we have now is neither fish nor fowl.

The Singapore penal code for drug possession is probably a good initial start for planning on the subject:

#13  Fentanyl and its analogies ARE the main problem in overdose deaths. From the CDC "Approximately 90% of unintentional overdose deaths in 24 Ohio counties that occurred during January and February 2017 involved fentanyl, fentanyl analogs, or both. "

Breitbart editor: Biden's and Kerry's sons inked deal with Chinese government after vice president's trip
A private equity firm managed by the sons of former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
and former Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, unsuccessful presidential candidate, and utterly failed Secretary of State...
struck a deal with China's state-owned bank in 2013 at the same time that Biden was in the country to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Hunter Biden, who arrived in China aboard Air Force Two alongside the vice president and the rest of the U.S. delegation, was at the time in control of Rosemont Seneca Partners LLC., a private equity firm that would go on to strike a deal with the state-owned Bank of China to create a $1 billion joint investment fund.

In excerpts from his upcoming book, "Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends," Breitbart News senior editor-at-large Peter Schweizer writes that the China deal was part of a trend of high-stakes deals between the sons' investment firm ‐ under the Rosemont entities umbrella ‐ and foreign governments that were also in the middle of striking deals with the B.O. regime.

Hunter Biden, along with Kerry's son by marriage Chris Heinz, control the Rosemont entities, which describes itself as "a $2.4 billion private equity firm."

In December 2013, Hunter Biden met with top Chinese government fund leaders alongside managing partner Devon Archer and James Bulger, the nephew of notorious mobster Whitey Bulger, who controls a Massachusetts-based consultancy firm. The meeting took place just hours before the vice president met with senior Chinese officials.

Ten days later, Rosemont entities inked a $1 billion deal with the bank of China. The deal was eventually increased to $1.5 billion.

Deals made by the firm ‐ co-owned by the government of China and the two sons of top American officials ‐ would go on to have serious national security implications for the United States. One such deal was with the automotive subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a major Chinese military contractor accused of frequently stealing U.S. military technology.

German prosecutors indict Syrian migrant over alleged bomb plot
[ARABNEWS] German prosecutors have indicted a 20-year-old Syrian migrant for plotting a bombing in which they say he hoped to kill at least 200 people.

Federal prosecutors said Thursday the suspect, identified only as Yamen A. in line with German privacy rules, was charged with preparing a serious act of violence.

They said he wanted to emulate attacks by the ISIS group, and decided by last summer to set off a bomb in a crowd. It was unclear where and when the attack was to take place. He was jugged

in October.

Authorities say he had procured chemicals used to make the explosive TATP and other bomb-making materials usually used to build a remote-controlled bomb. They have said they see no evidence he was part of a terror group.

‘Human error’ caused children’s death in Benazirabad, says health ministry
[DAWN] Terming the death of four children in Benazirabad district a ’human error’ and not the result of unsafe measles vaccine, the Sindh health ministry has said the matter had been taken up at the highest level and "strict disciplinary action" is being carried out against those involved in the sad episode.

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy had come up with a new idea, one that didn't involve kerosene...
Health Secretary Fazlullah Pechuho told a presser on Wednesday that the incident occurred because of transfer of bacteria in a vial owing to erroneous administering of vaccine.

"An unfortunate incident occurred in Nawabshah (Benazirabad) on March 1 where three infants died during the mother and child week. We are all saddened by this event. We offer our heartfelt condolence to the families and relatives who lost their loved ones," said a statement issued by the health ministry on Wednesday.

Upon receiving the report of that tragic incident, it said, the Sindh government’s health ministry immediately formed an investigation committee comprised of government officers, paediatricians and technical partners and "the committee has established what went wrong".

"The Sindh government would like to inform the public and the media that these deaths did not take place because of the measles vaccine and that the vaccine being given to children was not expired. It is perfectly safe. It is the same vaccine being administered throughout the world and subscribes to international standards," claimed the health ministry.

Fourteen Iraqi soldiers killed, injured in armed attack, west of Anbar
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) Seven Iraqi soldiers were killed, while seven others were maimed in an armed attack, carried out by unidentified button men, west of Anbar, news agencies quoted a security source from the province as saying on Thursday.

"Army troops carried out a wide-scale operation in the desert, southeast of Rutba, when Islamic State

gunnies attacked them," the source said.

The army, according to the source, who asked to remain anonymous, "killed several gunnies during the confrontations."

Earlier today, six IS members were killed in Arclight airstrike launched by the Iraqi jets in west of Anbar, the Iraqi News Agency reported.

"Iraqi military jets shelled a secret tunnel of IS in al-Kaara region in Qaim town, leaving six gunnies killed and two vehicles destroyed," a source from al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said.

The shelling took place during an operation to comb border exits, he added.

#1  After whorebama, go ahead. But never on Kim's turf
This is a one time thing or an all time thing.
Up to you Kim. You would look as a great leader one day when your people do not have to eat tree bark and their own new born to survive. It is my suggestion you take this opportunity.
Right now.
You have it right now and if you close it off, there will be a different end to this.

#2  Talk to him on Kim's turf and Kim pulls anything and you can be pretty sure the US will rally around Trump (or Pence) the way the US rallied around W after Sept 11 and North Korea will not survive. I'm sure lefties are whispering as much to Kim.

Going to North Korea will be seen in the region as 'giving Face' with Trump(USA) as the inferior party. Why bother when the North Koreans have already proven again and again that they are perfidious negotiators?
