[MAIL] Bill de Blasio's wife Chirlane McCray cannot explain where $850million given to the mental health program she champions has gone, according to reports.
In the three years it has been running, organizers at ThriveNYC have largely failed to keep records of the initiative's achievements - and data that has been collected shows it lagging well behind targets.
Despite that, the program has been granted an even bigger budget going forward and is now on track to spend $1billion over five years.
The data comes from a Politico report that shows those running the scheme have largely failed to measure its impact or keep track of spending.
Thrive said it has developed a list of 417 metrics to measure how effective the program is moving forward, but asked to assess its impact so far, Politico said the data was piecemeal and showed a largely failing picture.
For example, 29 hospitals had agreed to screen almost 78,000 new mothers for post-natal depression each year as part of the scheme.

She has the trifecta gold card to ward off prosecution, she's black, she's a former(?) gay, and she's connected to the progressive aristocracy, so she gets the special law enforcement rules.....oh, and she stole big, massively big, like the Hildabeest and the milling billions at State, so no one wants to open the can or worms to find all the connections to the corruption, all of it one party.
[Twitter] Trevor Noah faces criticism for making light of India-Pakistan tensions
The Daily Show host is being called out after he said a war between India and Pakistan would "probably be the most entertaining war of all time" amid military tensions between the two countries

Say what you will about the entertainment factor, but at least they will have actual sides, not like that free-for-all Calvinball business in Syria.

We'll see how entertaining he finds it when the fallout either drifts eastward toward China or westward toward Europe. Not to mention video footage of human suffering that makes Hiroshima look like a Super 8 recording of a children's birthday party.

Just guessing, but I don't think they'll go nuclear this go-round. But unless the Chechens get ahold of a nuke, I suspect this region will be where the next nuke gets used in anger.

The depth of their hatred has roots, At least in part to the horrible slaughter after the British announced partition at the end of the Raj. These people hate each other on many levels.
[USA Today] A display in the West Virginia statehouse equating Rep. Ilhan Omar to al-Qaida terrorists behind the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, sparked a confrontation between Republican and Democratic lawmakers on Friday, according to NBC News.
One person was physically injured and another resigned as a result of the incident that centered on the freshman Minnesota Democrat, NBC reported.
An image of the poster that caused the confrontation was shared on social media by Democratic Del. Mike Pushkin. It shows an image of the World Trade Center just after terrorists hit the second tower with a civilian airliner.
"'Never forget' ‐ you said ... " reads the caption above the image of the burning towers.
"I am the proof ‐ you have forgotten" reads the next caption below an image of Omar, who is Muslim.

Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen (HSM; Arabic: حركة الشباب المجاهدين, Ḥarakat ash-Shabāb al-Mujāhidīn; Somali: Xarakada Mujaahidiinta Alshabaab, lit. "Mujahideen Youth Movement" or "Movement of Striving Youth"), more commonly known as al-Shabaab (/ælʃəˈbɑːb/; Arabic: الشباب, lit. '"The Youth" or "The Youngsters", but can be translated as "The Guys"'), is a jihadist fundamentalist group based in East Africa. In 2012, it pledged allegiance to the militant Islamist organization Al-Qaeda.[11] In February 2012, some of the group's leaders quarreled with Al-Qaeda over the union,[12][13] and quickly lost ground.[14] Al-Shabaab's troop strength was estimated at 7,000 to 9,000 militants in 2014.[6] As of 2015, the group has retreated from the major cities, however al-Shabaab still controls large parts of the rural areas.[15]
Al-Shabaab began as the armed wing[16] of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU), which later splintered into several smaller factions after its defeat in 2006 by Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the TFG's Ethiopian military allies.[17] The group describes itself as waging jihad against "enemies of Islam", and is engaged in combat against the Federal Government of Somalia and the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM). Al-Shabaab has been designated as a terrorist organization by Australia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States.[18][19] As of June 2012, the US State Department has open bounties on several of the group's senior commanders.[20]
In early August 2011, the Transitional Federal Government's troops and their AMISOM allies managed to capture all of Mogadishu from the al-Shabaab militants.[21] An ideological rift within the group's leadership also emerged, and several of the organization's senior commanders were assassinated.[22] Due to its Wahhabi roots, al-Shabaab is hostile to Sufi traditions[23] and has often clashed with the militant Sufi group Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a.[24] The group has also been suspected of having links with Al-Qaeda in Islamic Maghreb and Boko Haram. It attracted some members from western countries, including Samantha Lewthwaite and Abu Mansoor Al-Amriki.

With the appearance of Lynne Patton during the Michael Cohen hearing, questions have been raised about why Cohen flipped to turn on President Trump.
It’s odd that Cohen had previously defended President Trump. He had written to defend the president against those who were claiming he’s a racist. Cohen was 100% in the Trump camp. So what happened?
...Lynne Patton:
What many of you may not be aware of is the fact that I can personally confirm that the ONLY reason Michael Cohen "turned on" the President of the United States is that Mueller threatened to throw his wife in jail for up to 30 years. Period. She is the co-guarantor of a $20M personal loan that Mueller discovered Michael secured back in 2015 by falsely inflating the value of his taxi medallions ‐ effectively making her part & parcel to the federal charge of "Making False Statements to a Financial Institution," to which Cohen ultimately plead guilty. This is also the reason why Cohen’s longtime taxi medallion partner, Evgeny "Gene" Freidman, was granted immunity. (read more)
Cohen went from saying he’d be willing to "take a bullet" for Trump to being willing to "take a bullet" for his wife.

This really, really stinks. But now that it’s out, and I read that there is a book manuscript floating out there by Mr. Cohen saying wonderful things about President Trump, completely contradicting the nasty things he said under duress, the situation becomes much more interesting for all involved.
Unfortunately, I find this explanation entirely believable. I know of too many prosecutors who bring up matters unrelated to a case in order to coerce a witness to provide false evidence in a case.
This happens with both Republican and Democratic prosecutors - especially if the lawyer thinks their career will be enhanced with this case.
God help you if the prosecutor loses the case and God help you if you can't give them what they want (because you're innocent).
Back in the Whitewater affair one of the small fry wanted to plead innocent to the charges against him. His lawyer told him: "You don't have enough money to be innocent." He meant the prosecution had an unlimited budget and could grind him and his assets into dust. Remember this when you read about these political charges.

Then Cohen had his opportunity to explain that in front of America. He is a POS.
[Yahoo] The American Family Association is taking aim at Walmart after the superstore released a promotional video featuring two gay men. "You come here often? No, only when thongs are on sale."
After the company produced the second episode of a series called “Love is in the aisle: A dating show at Walmart,” which follows couples going on blind dates through Walmarts across the country, AFA president Tim Wildmon called on people to ask Walmart to remove it.
“It’s clear that Walmart is on the path of elevating homosexual relationships to the same level as the male-female model of marriage,” a post on the AFA site reads. “We have no choice but to ask our supporters to let the company know how they, the customers, feel about Walmart’s shift away from neutrality on this controversial issue to full support for same sex relationships.”
The post goes on to explain the “betrayal” that the AFA feels, saying it would expect this from a company like Amazon that has been “liberal from the outset.”
“This seems more like a betrayal from a well-known friend. Sam Walton is probably turning over in his grave,” the post reads.
The AFA included a petition asking Walmart to go “back to its founding principles” and “remain neutral on the controversial issue of homosexuality.”
Many of the comments on Walmart’s Facebook video, however, are from people praising the store for the representation of a gay couple.
[Huffpoo] WASHINGTON ― Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) strongly suggested on Thursday that he would not support President Donald Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to fund construction of a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
"I support what the president wants to do on border security, but I do not support the way he has been advised to do it," Alexander said in a speech on the Senate floor. "It is unnecessary and unwise to turn a border crisis into a constitutional crisis."
Trump declared a national emergency two weeks ago, after failing to convince Congress to give him more than $5 billion to build his promised border wall. The declaration would allow Trump to use money Congress specifically appropriated for military projects to begin wall construction.
Alexander’s opposition to the declaration would be significant. Three of his fellow Republicans have said they would join with Democrats and vote to disapprove of the declaration. Only four Republicans are needed to pass the measure, because Democrats control 47 seats, and the resolution requires a simple majority of 51 votes.
Alexander did not specifically say whether he would support the disapproval resolution. Instead, he urged the administration to take other funds Congress has authorized for Department of Defense drug interdiction efforts as well as the Treasury Department to build the proposed border wall.

Trump is the chief executive of the nation. It's not clear to me how states would have standing to sue over this. Except in the 9th Circus Court where anything goes.
