Elite Opinion Is Never Wrong
[CityJournal] Reality may fail to measure up to cocktail party assumptions, but the chit-chat of the better people rings on, unchanged.

During the thirties, in the period when Nazism was rising and the conditions of a second world war coalesced, fashionable opinion in Great Britain regarded Winston Churchill as a crackpot and extremist. He was deplorable.

One learns to distrust fashionable opinion. When I was a boy in Washington, D.C., the best people said that Whittaker Chambers was a dreadful fellow—a sinister little fat man with bad teeth, a strange and neurotic ex-Communist, not to be trusted. Ideologically fashionable people have their standard of Not Our Class, Dear. Chambers was N.O.C.D. Alger Hiss, on the other hand, was very much Our Class—slim, urbane, the Fred Astaire of the American establishment.

#1  Not gonna happen. Democrats spent the last four years playing every dirty, dishonest ploy they could imagine trying to get rid of Donald Trump but now they call for unity. There will be no unity under Joe Biden.

#2  There will be no unity under Joe Biden. Events, my good man, events will occur. Some of those events may be severe enough to provoke unity of a very painful kind. Recall when FDR was sworn in 4 March 1933, not a single bank in the USA was open. That was the kind of unity Creepy Joe may be faced with.

#4  Seen on a neighbor's house and property:

Pre-election: no patriotic symbols; a BLM sign on lawn; left-wing university sticker in rear wi dis of his SUV. The only red-white-and-blue to be seen anywhere is a r-w-b bumper sticker with "2020" above a guillotine.

Post-election: all of the above plus a gigantic Star-Spangled Banner covering most of his garage. First time I've ever seen the flag flown at that house.

Another neighbor, pre-election: BLM etc, plus rainbow-colored slogans re POCs, gays, women, "SCIENCE IS REAL" (wtf??) etc.

Post-election: neighbor now walking his little dog who now wears an American flag doggie-sweater. (Gigantic US flag on new flagpole no doubt soon to come.)

Yeah, sure, we got your message: Vote against us and we'll trash your city and grease up the guillotine. If we win, you'll obey us and salute when we tell you to.

#5  Extortion Day: How the Democratic Party and its allies used the threat of violence as a campaign tactic

"the activist Left’s campaign of violent protest provided a convenient foil for the Biden campaign. Biden adopted the high-minded language of racial justice, promising to combat 'systemic racism,' while benefiting from the implicit threat of violence from far-left shock troops on the ground. It’s the same logic of extortion that any thug would use—vote for us and things will return to normal; vote for Trump and your cities will burn...."

In praise of slow democracy
[JohnCochrane] Steve Landsburg wrote a excellent short WSJ oped adding one more good reason for our apparently cumbersome electoral practices:

Imagine a future presidential election in which the incumbent refuses to concede and enlists the full power of the federal government to overturn the apparent democratic outcome.

Now imagine that the election in question is actually run by a federal agency or by some nationwide quasigovernmental authority charged with collecting and aggregating the results from all 50 states.

Did the US Raid European Software Company Scytl and Seize their Servers in Germany? ‐ Our Intel Source Says YES, IT HAPPENED!
[GatewayPundit] Earlier today Rep. Louie Gohmert told Chris Salcedo on Newsmax that people on the ground in Germany report that Scytl, which hosted elections data improperly through Spain, was raided by a large US ARMY force and their servers were seized in Frankfurt.

The video went viral.

Andrea Widburg at American Thinker earlier reported that Scytl is a Barcelona-based company that provides electronic voting systems worldwide, many of which have proven vulnerable to electronic manipulation. Scytl has (or had) Soros and Democrat party connections. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital has invested $40 million in Scytl.

Tonight we learned from our source that Bill Gates also owns stock in Scytl.

Here is what Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) had to say about this alleged raid earlier today.

Tonight we heard more from our source on this raid in Germany.

From our source: The US government, once they determined that this Dominion server was involved in switching votes, then the intelligence community began a search for the server and discovered that the server was in Germany. In order to get access to that server and have it available for use in a legal manner they had to have the State Department work in tandem with the Department of Justice. They had to request that the government of Germany cooperate in allowing this seizure of this server.

The appropriate documents required to affect that kind of seizure were put in place, signed off on, and it appears there was also US military support in this operation. The US military was not in the lead. But this helps explain why Esper was fired and Miller and Kash Patel were put in place — so that the military would not interfere with the operation in any way.

By getting ahold of the server they now are going to have the direct evidence of when they were instructed to stop counting. They will also discover who gave the direction to stop counting and who initiated the algorithm that started switching votes. The CIA was completely excluded from this operation.

Trump Attorney Lin Wood weighed in on this report today.

Biden & his criminal cronies are not going to sleep well tonight. Well, Biden might because he probably forgot the name Scytl.

His co-conspirators know name well. They also know the name Paragon, company which purchased Scytl in 10/20.

UPDATE: Scytl reportedly refuted the claims on Saturday morning.

Then their website crashed.

Pollster: It's Curious How Biden Underperformed Hillary Clinton In Every City...Except These Four.
[Townhall] Until all the votes are counted and all the allegations of voter fraud are investigated, I think it’s too early to declare a winner in the 2020 race. You keep fighting. For now, the legal challenges are hitting snags in the courts. Still, President Trump should keep fighting to the end. We have dead people voting. We have allegations of ballots being illegally backdated. Everything should be looked at right now.

Was this election stolen? Well, millions feel that way. The turnout numbers are odd in some states, like Wisconsin, which hit 89 percent. Now, is that figure impossible? No. Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel did the math, but it’s highly improbable given the turnout rates in the surrounding areas. It would require 900,000 people showing up for same-day registrations. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was blunter last Sunday, when he said, "I think he would have to do a lot to convince Republicans that this is anything except a left-wing power grab, financed by people like George Soros, deeply laid in at the local level, and, frankly, I think that it is a corrupt, stolen election." He was commenting on Biden’s call for unity. Yet, he also gave a hat-tip to someone we have written about here: Democracy Institute’s Patrick Basham.

#2  Biden's call for unity

Fuck off.

Here's a clue for you: all the religious traditions teach that forgiveness requires sincere penance. For Catholics penance is a holy sacrament; the Jewish tradition requires the sinner to confess and ask forgiveness at least three times.

Before we can even think of forgiving you wretched, contemptuous and contemptible shits, we need to hear you say the words that have never passed your lips:

"We did terrible things, and we're sorry for what we've done.

"We lied.

"We lied (and are still lying) when for over three years we fabricated evidence to try to convince the public that the most anti-Russian president in America's history is a Russian spy.

"We lied when we called one of America's most admired jurists a gang rapist.

"We cheated. We cheated when we suppressed all news and evidence that Biden is a liar and that his family is corrupt; that they are tied by graft and crime to foreign thieves and to the to the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese intelligence; that there is extensive evidence that Hunter Biden's unbelievable stupidity and depravity have allowed foreign intelligence to compromise his addled and corrupt father.

"We cheated. By suppressing this vitally important story and dismissing all the mountains of eyewitness and documentary evidence, we perpetrated great harm: We rigged an election, and destroyed forever our credibility.

"Forgive us, for we have sinned grievously."

Until and unless we hear these words, our response to these BS overtures to "come together" can only be, Go fuck yourselves

Jim Clyburn (D) Says Trump Refusing To Concede Like Hitler
[Cove] Was Gore refusing to concede for 37 days like Hitler? How about Stacy Abrams, who still hasn’t conceded the Georgia governor’s race?

A top Democrat on Capitol Hill has compared President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede to "what Hitler did in Germany" during a new interview as criticism grows over the president’s anti-Democratic attacks on the electoral process.

Rep. Jim Clyburn (D—SC) said on Tuesday night he was concerned the president was attempting to take on an authoritarian role despite losing to President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 US elections and urged Americans to defend the results of the election.

Speaking to CNN’s Chris Cuomo, the House majority whip said: "I’m beginning to see what happened in Germany back in the 1930s. I never thought that could happen in this country."

"How do you elect a person president, then all of a sudden you’re going to give him the authority to be dictator?" He continued. "That’s what Hitler did in Germany."

Adolf Hitler was elected chancellor in Germany, as Mr Clyburn said on Tuesday, noting how he "successfully discredited the news media" in his quest to hold onto power and become a dictator.

"I cannot see that happening here," the Democrat said. "If it did, that means that the American people are much more — or less, I should say, intelligent than I think they are."

Does that make all of us who support making sure there’s as little election fraud as possible and wanting recounts to only count legally cast votes Brownshirts? And being mean to a news media who is hostile to Republicans is like Hitler?

I’m still waiting for Democrats to tell us what freedoms Trump has taken away them. How he’s put the Government’s foot on their neck. Has he sicced the IRS on anyone like Obama did? Democrats say they want to "save Democracy" (yeah, I know), so, why not allow recounts to make sure things were on the up and up? Nothing is certified till the Electoral College meets in December.

Progressives blame 'divide-and-conquer racism' for Democrats' House losses
[The Week via Cove] Progressive House Democrats are shifting the blame for last week's dismal House showing.

As it became clear Democrats wouldn't expand their majority in the House this year, moderate Democrats began blaming their party's left wing, including in a testy post-election caucus call where Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) profanely decried any mention of "socialism" within the party. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) quickly told the party to stop "pointing fingers," and on Tuesday, a memo began circulating among progressive representatives that tried to break down just went wrong.
"Wudn't us!" She yelled explained
While the memo did reflect Ocasio-Cortez's plea to stop "placing blame" before a campaign post-mortem was conducted, it did lay out progressive strategies to drive future House gains. Instead of playing into President Trump's "racist appeals against immigrants and Black Lives Matter," Democrats should "take on the Republican party's divide-and-conquer racism head-on," the memo says. Democrats should "invest in organizing the base," "connect economic justice to racial justice," and "drive an economic message that connects with all working people" as well, the memo details. As Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) put it, Democrats need to "really respect every single voice," namely those of marginalized people, instead of "silencing" them like Spanberger suggested.

Part of that economic message is clear in the suggested Biden Cabinet picks the progressive Justice Democrats and Sunrise Movement unveiled Wednesday. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as Labor Secretary and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as Treasury Secretary top their list. Tlaib would be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) would be secretary of state, and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison would be attorney general, among their other choices.

President Trump's Pennsylvania complaint is brilliant
[American Thinker] The complaint filed in Pennsylvania by the Trump campaign is a superb piece of legal craftsmanship.

It was filed in federal court, not state. The gist is that some of the state's actions, and particularly the exclusion of Republican poll-watchers during the counting of hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots, violated federal constitutional requirements.

The point is obvious enough once one thinks of it, but it's brilliant all the same. It shifts the focus from state law, where a politicized Pennsylvania court has the last word, to federal law, where the U.S. Supreme Court rules.

As for the obviousness of the point, consider as a thought experiment a state law requiring that all votes be counted in secret by an unelected board named by the party in power. Could it survive a constitutional challenge?

As my old Harvard constitutional law professors would have said, "to ask the question is to answer it." It is hard to count all the constitutional guarantees violated here: Equal Protection, Due Process, Privileges and Immunities. Indeed, the complaint stacks up the Supreme Court precedents supporting its arguments, including the long line of ringing statements in the chain of one-person-one-vote decisions.

Even the late Justice Ginsburg, who never met a progressive argument she could not support, would have trouble upholding such a law.

Given this framework, the historic decision in Bush v. Gore becomes useful but unimportant. The problem there was that the Florida Supreme Court pretended to be interpreting state law, and the legal convention is that the U.S. Supreme Court must defer on state issues, even though the Florida court was making up new law as it went along and changing its mind shamelessly.

The U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Bush v. Gore was muddled by the need to wiggle around this problem without addressing it head-on, because it would not do to cast doubt on the integrity of fellow judges. (The union is strong.) Only a three-justice concurrence said flatly that the Florida Court was contradicting the Legislature, and that would not do. Four justices went off on an opaque Equal Protection argument.

John Brennan: ‘Nativist, Xenophobic' Americans Are Suppressing Other Views
[Breitbart] Appearing Friday on CNN, former CIA Director John Brennan said the United States is comprised of "nativist, xenophobic" elements exhibited abroad in the last century.

A transcript is as follows:

BRIANNA KEILAR:
We’ve heard that phrase, "If you don’t know history, you could be condemned to repeat it," which is part of the reason why it’s so important to understand different things whether it’s about the Cold War or World War II, and the fact that it was the fight again Fascism. Why is that so important for Americans writ large or for elected officials to understand that it was actually a fight against Fascism?

JOHN BRENNAN: I think we’re right now battling some fascist tendencies amongst some people in terms of highly nativist tendencies and instincts that I think Donald Trump harbors and has shown. What we have seen happen around the globe over the last hundred years or so, I think we see elements of it here in the states, which is a very nativist, xenophobic, and in some respects movements that are prone to lashing out and suppressing the views, the interests, of others in their country. It’s very unfortunate what we’ve seen in the last four years. I am very confident that Joe Biden brings to the office of the presidency the character, dignity, experience, and an understanding of the history, law and Constitution that Americans have been desperately looking for over the last several years.

Excerpts from former President Barack Obama’s forthcoming memoir “A Promised Land” trashes conservatives as intellectually inferior xenophobes filled with “racial anxieties,” and blames former vice presidential candidate Sarah Plain for the supposedly mainstreaming bigotry.

“Through Palin, it seemed as if the dark spirits that had long been lurking on the edges of the modern Republican Party — xenophobia, anti intellectualism, paranoid conspiracy theories, an antipathy toward Black and brown folks — were finding their way to center stage,” Obama accuses in the memoir, as noted by The Blaze.

A Biden Presidency Would Be A Dream Scenario For Our Corporate Overlords
[TheMostImportantThing via ZH] One of the biggest reasons why the elite hate Donald Trump so much is because they can't control him.
[read: Trump can't be bought.]
But if Joe Biden ends up in the White House, that won't be a problem. Our corporate overlords know exactly what they are getting with Biden, and that is why they backed him so strongly during the campaign. In fact, if our corporate overlords could create a perfect president from scratch, they would end up with someone that looks very similar to Joe Biden.

Let me explain what I mean. One thing that the elite value in any politician is weakness, and today Joe Biden is very weak. At one time he had a little bit more of a backbone, but at this point he has deteriorated very badly and his physical, mental and emotional weaknesses are apparent to everyone.

I asked one simple question to people who work with fraud
By Larry Correia
Scathing assessments by people whose business it is to recognize such things.
[MonsterHunterInternational] I noticed yesterday that I was having lots of strangers show up to scream at me whenever I posted any information about election fraud, but they were all low information types just barfing up "fact checks" which was basically whatever the news had just told them, but none of them had the basic knowledge of how fraud works to even sorta discuss any of the actual data. So I got curious and posted the following on facebook:

One quick question, only answer if you have worked in auditing/stats/fraud/investigations/or other data analysis type fields. In your entire career, have you ever seen a case that threw up this many flags that DID NOT turn out to be fraud?

Again, flags are not proof. They are merely anomalies which would cause an auditor to check. Nor am I claiming this is a scientific poll (though I’d bet I’m still more accurate than Nate Silver!). There is of course a sampling bias as I know many of these people in meat space (and their resumes on this topic are killer) but it was also open to the public so anyone could comment and it got shared a hundred times.

The consensus thus far is overwhelming. No. Not only no but hell no. There have been a few hedging their bets (but they are still suspicious) and zero saying that there is nothing wrong (like in every single other thread, where I get screamed at by Dunning-Krugerands). I’m not claiming this is an accurate sampling of every professional of this type in America, but it is pretty telling.

#1  Since Flu/COLD and etc... season are generally in the fall.

Move national voting up to the 1st Tuesday in July around Independence Day or 1st Tuesday in Sept. around Labor Day.

It would allow plenty of time for court challenges, recounts before the Electoral College meets.

Cut down on the need for Absentee Ballots and greatly reduce the risk of Illness related voting impediments.

Home Front: WoT
Deep State Diplomat Lied To Trump About Syria On Behalf Of Military-Industrial Complex
[The Federalist] Senior U.S. Diplomat and special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey repeatedly lied to the Trump administration about how many troops were stationed in Syria over the last four years.

"We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there," Jeffrey said in an interview.

While President Donald Trump announced late in 2018 that he would be withdrawing troops from Syria following the defeat of the Islamic State, Jeffrey, whose term ended on Sunday, and his team continually found reasons to prevent total removal from the region.

"What Syria withdrawal? There was never a Syria withdrawal," Jeffrey said. "When the situation in northeast Syria had been fairly stable after we defeated ISIS, [Trump] was inclined to pull out. In each case, we then decided to come up with five better arguments for why we needed to stay, and we succeeded both times. That’s the story."

While Trump eventually approved stationing between 200 and 400 U.S. troops in Syria to assist the U.S.’s Kurdish allies, officials estimate there are at least 900 troops there today.

Jeffrey, who previously served as deputy national security adviser under George W. Bush, signed a 2016 "NeverTrump" letter, along with dozens of other national security and foreign policy officials who worked under Bush, pledging he would never vote for the then-Republican presidential nominee.

"From a foreign policy perspective, Donald Trump is not qualified to be President and Commander-in-Chief," the letter read. "Indeed we are convinced that he would be a dangerous President and would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being."

Jeffrey shows no remorse for signing the letter, saying, "I know what I did in 2016. I do not disagree with that."

Car & Driver - Most Reliable Used Cars
[Car & Driver] Sales of used cars and the popularity of "certified pre-owned" (CPO) programs continue to increase as millions of Americans realize an affordable used car doesn't have to be a clunker. Reliability is available on a tight budget. You just have to choose the right car.

According to owners surveyed by J.D. Power, these nine models from 2017 are the most dependable. They're also new enough to be purchased from a CPO program, which usually includes extended warranties. Many offer modern in-cabin tech features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. This list includes a wide range of vehicles, from large sedans to sports cars, subcompacts to luxury models. There's even an EV in the pack. Here they are in alphabetical order.

#1  J.D. Power, huh?

I remember in the early '90s we bought a Buick partly because J.D. Power reported it had the fewest problems after the first 90 days, or something like that. The Buick LeSabre was number one in owner satisfaction, they said.

I remember my Dad telling me, "You don't know J.D. Power from Adam."

That Buick was a lemon.

Drive the car before you buy it. If it feels good, if you like it and you can afford it then buy it.

For the record, I didn't particularly care for that car when we test drove it. It was too heavy and clunky. But Mrs. Uluque liked it.

#2  I looked at that list. Those cars , for the most part , fail the cost of ownership stats. A luxury car may be reliable but when it does fail the parts are way expensive and often require special tool to repair. You may be better off with a Toyota Corolla .
