36 members of Congress sign letter calling for Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller's immediate release
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Fat chance of that. They spent four years calling Trump a fascist. Now they're openly wearing their black shirts. Their motto is Semper tyrannus.

Even worse: Black shirts with red arm bands.

"First they came for the dipshits, and I didn't care, 'cuz I'm not a dipshit.

"Then they came for the stoopid, and I didn't care. I didn't realize how stoopid I was..." You know the rest.

#1  US CODE:
Original appointments in the grades of major, lieutenant colonel, and colonel in the Regular Army, Regular Air Force, and Regular Marine Corps in the grades of lieutenant commander, commander, and captain in the Regular Navy, and in the equivalent grades in the Regular Space Force shall be made by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.

Perhaps 50 senators could agree on no further appointments at this level will be approved unless & until Scheller is released. As if!

#7  even the UCMJ is not immune to the American prohibition against "Selective Prosecution". Lt.Col. Scheller lawyer will no doubt bring this up.
"Colonel" Vindman, "General" Milley and many other PRO-Leftist military get free-passes for criticizing their superiors, but they throw Scheller in prison...in solitary confinement!

Lt.Col. Scheller TRIED to resign his commission...they refused so they could make an example of him. AND degrade morale in the USMC at the same time. A TWO-FER!

For 42 years (since 1979) I have been a "Former Marine"...short for "Former Active Duty Marine". The feeling most of us had was: "Once a Marine, always a Marine".

I am now an EX-Marine. I have worn a Marine Corps ballcap pretty much every day, as a way to show my support...and received hundreds of "Semper Fi" responses from my fellow "Former Marines" over the years. NO MORE.

No one but me will care, but on Monday I am boxing up collection of Marine Corps ballcaps, t-shirts, etc, and mailing them to the Commandant with a (believe it or not) respectful letter explaining why. He will NOT give a damn, but it will make ME feel better.

Signed, an EX-Marine

Afghanistan
Round-up: Life in Afghanistan under the Taliban
[DW] A collection of photos.

Airspace Revenue Drops, Airline Industry Struggling
[ToloNws] The suspension of airline flights has harmed the airline industry and the closing of Afghan airspace has caused revenue to plummet, industry analysts said.

The estimated revenue loss from the closed Afghan airspace since the fall of the former government is around $7 million, said analysts.

Airlines that stopped or changed their offered flight routes have lost around $20 million, say airline officials.

Airline companies expressed concern over the closed airspace and the reduction of flights, saying that the airlines should immediately resume operations.

Officials at Kabul Airport said all types of flights will resume in the future.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Afghanistan, the country was receiving over five billion Afs in revenue for the use of its airspace annually.

Afghans Complain of Delays in Iran Visa Process
[ToloNews] A number of people who were gathered in front of the Iranian embassy in Kabul complained of the lack of transparency in the visa-issuing process.

They said the official process was slow and some people on the side were offering visa services for around $2,000.

The embassy of Iran resumed its consulate service three days ago after a longtime suspension of the visa process as a result of fall of the former government.

Herat Family Asks Emirate to Release Photojournalist
[ToloNews] The family of Murteza Samadi, a photojournalist who was detained in Herat province, called on the Taliban to release him from detention.

Freelance photojournalist Murteza Samadi was detained by the Taliban about three weeks ago in western Herat province while covering a women's protest held in front of the governor’s office.

Public Universities to Reopen After New Hires: Ministry
[ToloNews] After the Taliban’s takeover, Afghanistan’s public universities have remain closed across the country, as the Taliban called for the segregation of genders in classrooms.

Sabera Saayedi is in her last year of studying journalism, and she is calling for the urgent resumption of lessons at the universities. She said: “Universities stopped many times--due to COVID-19 and then the government collapse--students are getting exhausted.”

Private universities opened about one month ago in Afghanistan.

Based on available numbers, there are 32 state universities across Afghanistan.

Red Cross Says Over 2,000 Health Facilities Shuttered in Afghanistan
[AnNahar] The World Health Organization warned last week that less than a fifth of the country's health facilities remained fully functional, with two-thirds having run out of essential medicines.

This could have dire consequences, including for the response to the Covid-19 pandemic. In a country where only around one percent of people have received a vaccine, more than one million doses are waiting to be distributed. They will expire by the end of the year, Matheou said.

The international community has pledged $1.2 billion in humanitarian aid, but it takes time for the funds to flow.

The Geneva-based IFRC appealed Thursday for 36 million Swiss francs ($38.5 million, 33 million euros) to deliver emergency relief and recovery assistance to more than half a million people in the provinces worst affected by severe drought and displacement.

EU allocated over $300 million in humanitarian aid for Afghan people
[KhaamaPress] President of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Ursula Von der Leyen on Wednesday, September 29 said that they have allocated US$ 348.2 million in humanitarian aid for the people of Afghanistan.

Leyen on her Twitter post wrote that the EU is standing by the people of Afghanistan and added that the EU’s flight brought aids to Afghanistan.

In the meantime, the EU commissioner for crisis management Janez Lenarcic has said that they have delivered 32 tonnes of humanitarian aids to Afghanistan.

Lenarcic has added that the aid will be distributed by UNICEF and WHO to the people who are most affected by conflicts and cholera in Afghanistan.

Prior to that, the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund released US$45 million to help prevent the collapse of Afghanistan’s health sector.

The humanitarian aid comes at a time when the people of Afghanistan are grappling with a looming humanitarian crisis and they are in desperate need of relief assistance.

Yesterday, China’s first consignment of humanitarian aid arrived in Kabul and is intended to be distributed by the ministry of refugees and repatriates in Afghanistan.
The aids include blankets and warm clothes that will be distributed to IDPs as the winter season is approaching.

Earlier, China had pledged to provide the people of Afghanistan with $1.5 million unconditional aid and one million doses of the Corona vaccine.

Chinese ambassador to Kabul Wang Yu in his meeting with Khalil-ur Rahman Haqqani said that his country will supply humanitarian aid to Afghan people before the winter season arrives.

Pakistan eliminates gate pass at Torkham crossing point
[KhaamaPress] Pakistain’s ambassador to Kabul Mansoor Ahamd Khan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality disorders...
has ordered the elimination of gate pass at the Torkham border to facilitate the movement of Afghan people to Pakistain.

Mansoor Ahmed Khan has cited PM Imran Khan’s special assistant in establishment Shehzab Arbab saying as the cabinet made the decision after mass complaints about extortion at Torkham passing point.

"Federal cabinet took notice of complaints of illegal extortion of money from incoming Afghans on Torkham border." Says Arbab in his Twitter post.

The special assistants wrote the PM Khan has directed smooth crossing only through permission letters and valid visas.

The decision comes as Pakistain closed the Chaman crossing point in the south of Afghanistan on Thursday, September 30.

Local residents say that the crossing point was closed after a verbal conflict between border guards of Pakistain and Afghanistan.

Pak officials have commented on the Issue yet.

took control of the country, according to an assessment prepared for Afghanistan's international donors, exacerbating the current economic crisis.

The confidential, two-page brief, written early this month by senior international economic officials for institutions including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, said the country's severe cash shortage began before the Taliban took control of Kabul.

125K More Haitian Migrants Expected in Mexico by December
[Breitbart] Mexican officials are concerned that more than 125,000 Haitian migrants are expected to be in their country by the end of 2021 with the majority trying to reach the U.S. border. However, the figure could be much higher due to migrants who enter Mexico without notifying authorities. The concerns expressed by officials range from law enforcement to humanitarian and sanitary issues since Mexico does not have the resources to absorb the influx.

Breitbart Texas obtained exclusive access to a confidential report prepared by Mexico’s National Immigration Institute (INM) for Commissioner Francisco Garduno Yanez and his top aides. Officials warn more than 85,000 Haitian migrants are currently in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panamá, and Guatemala and most have the expectation of reaching the U.S.-Mexico Border.

The report projects most of those migrants reaching Mexico by December, where they would join 40,000 Haitian migrants already in the country. This week, Breitbart Texas reported exclusively on that figure. Also this week, the government of Panama warned about 60,000 migrants in their country whom are expected to travel north.

Breitbart Texas consulted with high-level Mexican officials who expressed concerns due to the lack of funding faced by INM in the southern state of Chiapas, where most migrants enter the country. The situation has worsened as more migrants continue to arrive requiring basic necessities.

This week, Haitian Ambassador Hugues Momplaisir Féquiére announced that they would be working with Mexico’s government to implement a program called “Sembrando Vida” or Planting Life, where Haitians who voluntarily go home and help plant trees would receive $3,000 pesos or $150 USD from Mexico’s government. Mexico’s Foreign Relations Minister and presidential hopeful Marcelo Ebrard has publicly confirmed that negotiations are underway to bring the Mexican program to Haiti but has refused to talk about Mexico having to pay for the program. Ebrard also confirmed before Mexico’s Senate that a new wave of migrants from various countries could arrive in Mexico.

U.S. intensifies talks to use Russian bases for Afghan counterterrorism ops
[Politico] The U.S. is in talks with countries that border Afghanistan about housing "over the horizon" counterterrorism operations that would allow the U.S. military to more easily surveil and strike targets in the Taliban-controlled nation, according to senators who attended a classified hearing with Pentagon leaders this week. Those sites could include bases run by Russia in those countries, they said.

After testifying publicly before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, a trio of the military's top officials briefed lawmakers behind closed doors about the discussions, which are taking place with the governments of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and others, the senators said.

The disclosure to lawmakers on Tuesday came just hours after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin acknowledged that the U.S. has asked Russia for "clarification" about an offer from President Vladimir Putin to host the U.S. counterterrorism operations on Russian military bases in central Asia.

During the classified session, senators were told that that option is being seriously considered, the lawmakers added. Gen. Kenneth "Frank" McKenzie, the U.S. Central Command chief, went into detail about specific types of aircraft and launching points that could be used to strike terrorist targets in Afghanistan.

Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, also described to senators the nature of his conversations with his Russian counterpart, Valery Gerasimov, the senators added. The Wall Street Journal first reported that Milley raised the issue with Gerasimov, but the further details of the talks have not been previously reported.

"It's their territory. But I think, realistically, Russia has influence there," Senate Armed Services Chair Jack Reed (D-R.I.) said of the neighboring countries. "And so [Russia] may not have a veto, but they certainly have an influence. So you have to talk to them."

Representatives for the Pentagon and U.S. Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Some Afghan evacuees leaving military bases in U.S. before resettlement
[Reuters] Something unexpected is happening at U.S. military bases hosting Afghan evacuees: Many hundreds of them are simply leaving before receiving U.S. resettlement services, two sources familiar with the data told Reuters.

The number of "independent departures," which top 700 and could be higher, has not been previously reported. But the phenomenon is raising alarms among immigration advocates concerned about the risks to Afghans who give up on what is now an open-ended, complex and completely voluntary resettlement process.

India-Pakistan
ISI, Khalistan forces will try taking advantage of instability in Punjab
[OneIndia] Pakistan is known to use to its advantage any instability in India. Be it protests or political issues, the ISI has known to engineer trouble and take advantage.

In Punjab, the situation is volatile courtesy the political circus following the ouster of Captain Amarinder Singh and later on the resignation of. Navjot Singh Sidhu. It is a well known fact that the ISI has been trying to bolster the Khalistan movement in Punjab.

While the Khalistan movement has not been re-kindled the way the ISI would have wanted, the fact remains that the activities of these groups have only been on the rise off late. The stability in the politics of Punjab has been one reason why the democratic set up could not be shaken in the state.

In this backdrop, senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal said what does it mean when this is happening in a border state to the Congress party. It is an advantage for the ISI in Pakistan. We know the history and the rise of extremism in the state. We know that the forces across the border exploit the situation to create unrest. It is these forces that are a threat to our country Sibal also said.

Zulfikar Bhutto had once said that Pakistan will also have a Bangladesh carved out of India, but it would be on the Pakistan border. This was a reference that he made to Khalistan.

The ongoing farmer protests have gained support from the global Khalistan movement. Thousands of protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom and displayed Khalistan flags. Paramjeet Pannun, closely associated with the ISI funded Sikhs For Justice and members of the Sikh Federation, UK, which is associated with the Khalistan movement were part of the protests.

The ISI has for the past two decades made attempts to revive the Khalistan movement in India.

Intelligence reports amidst the farmer protests also indicated that Pakistan based Khalistan groups are being pushed by their handlers to exploit the farmers' agitation in a bid to revive militancy in the state.

Since the early part of this decade, Pakistan has been funding the SJF launched Referendum 2020 movement. In 2018 a module was busted in Punjab. It was found that this group was promoting Referendum 2020 and had planned on mass targeting. They even had their eyes set on an IPL game in Mohali.

Senior officials tell OneIndia that while the Khalistan movement has not gained the traction that Pakistan would have desired, the issue however continues to persist. The ISI will continue to fund the movement and will look for fragile situations and make use of it.

In the past few months several outfits such as the Babbar Khalsa, Khalistan Liberation Force, Khalistan Zindabad Force, ISYF and Khalistan Commando Force have come under the scanner. A meeting at the Nankana Sahib in Pakistan between these elements and the ISI also came under the scanner.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas operative killed in IDF shootout was brother of slain soldier’s kidnapper
[IsraelTimes] One of the Paleostinian button men who was killed in a West Bank shootout with Israel Defense Force troops earlier this week was the brother of one of the Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, fighters involved in the 1994 kidnapping and murder of Israeli soldier Nachshon Wachsman.

Ahmad Zahran’s brother Zahran Zahran was killed by Israeli security forces — reportedly using a booby-trapped suitcase — four years after he participated in the abduction that shook the entire country.

On October 9, 1994, Wachsman, 19, a soldier in the Golani infantry brigade, left a base in northern Israel and disappeared after trying to hitch a ride at the Bnei Atarot junction in central Israel. Two days after his disappearance, the Hamas faceless myrmidons who kidnapped him released a video demanding the release of hundreds of Paleostinian prisoners in exchange for his freedom. If Israel did not comply, they vowed to kill Wachsman the following Friday at 8 p.m.

A team from the elite Sayeret Matkal special forces unit tried to rescue Wachsman from the Paleostinian village north of Jerusalem where he was held, but his Hamas captors killed him as the soldiers closed in.

In addition to his brother, Ahmad Zahran’s grandfather Musa was killed in the 1948 War of Independence and his uncle Muhammad was killed in the 1967 Six-Day War, Haaretz reported Thursday.

Ahmad Zahran, 31, was killed along with two other Hamas operatives during a raid by Israeli security forces on the Paleostinian villages of Bidu and Beit Anan near Ramallah early Sunday morning. According to the army, the Hamas operatives shot up the Israeli troops, initiating the shootout. The three had also been meeting in order to carry out an imminent attack against Israel, the IDF said.

Zahran lived in Bidu and was heralded in Hamas-affiliated media as a prominent field commander in the terror group’s military wing. He had been imprisoned in Israel for a total of six years on terror-related offenses. The most recent sentence he served was for three years, exiting jail just seven months ago.

Zahran’s mother told the Safa news site that "the one who sent the Jews to me and my children is the Paleostinian Authority," claiming the IDF managed to track her son down through its security coordination with the PA.

Bidu is one of eight Paleostinian villages that found themselves surrounded by Israel’s West Bank security barrier, which was erected after the Second Intifada. The wall cut off the villages from some of their agricultural lands, leading to mass protests from the Paleostinian locals while it was being built.

Recent months have seen a spike in violence in the West Bank, with more frequent attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers, as well as gunfire exchanges between Israeli troops and Paleostinian Death Eaters.

A Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran warns 'war with Israel has already begun' and says 'the entire crisis in the region is Israel's fault'
Question: Is Iran massing tanks on the border with Azerbaijan because they used some Israeli weapons in their war with Armenia?
[Daily Mail] An Iranian spokesman has declared that 'war has already begun' with Israel as tensions between the two nations reach a boiling point.

Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, made the statement to the Maariv newspaper before going on to place the blame for the crisis in the Middle East squarely at the feet of Israel.

Khatibzadeh claimed that Israel 'has murdered nuclear scientists and harmed the Iranian people'.

Iran is blamed for terrorism, but there is no good or bad terrorist. The entire crisis in the region is the fault of Israel,' he said.

His comments come just days after Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett appealed to the international community for support in confronting Iran over their nuclear programme.

In his maiden speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Bennett said Iran had breached all the 'red lines' aimed at curbing its nuclear weapons programme but that Israel 'will not allow' Tehran to get the bomb.

After claiming that an Iran-Israel war was already underway, the Iranian spokesman added that Israel 'had done everything' in an attempt to scupper nuclear talks with the UN in Vienna, and sought to drive a wedge between Iran and world powers.

Khatibzadeh continued: 'Israel severely harmed our civilians and research system.

'They speak about the Iranian nuclear threat, but Israel has hundreds of bombs, and it never signed the non-proliferation treaty for nuclear weapons.'

Meanwhile, Bennett has openly condemned Iran's perceived plans for the region and stands steadfastly against Iran's development of their nuclear programme, which Israel believes is gearing towards the development of warheads.

'Iran´s great goal is crystal clear to anybody who cares to open their eyes: Iran seeks to dominate the region - and seeks to do so under a nuclear umbrella,' Bennett said on Monday.

He called Iran´s new president, Ebrahim Raisi, the 'butcher of Tehran' for his past role in suppressing political dissent and accused Iran of arming, funding and training Israel´s enemies across the region.

He also suggested that Iranian meddling had brought disaster to countries like Lebanon, Syria and Yemen.
