PAKISTAN TERROR GROUPS BECOMING MORE ACTIVE – Taking advantage of the political turmoil between the political parties in the country, terror groups have launched a series of attacks and bombings in recent days. The brazen attack on an oil facility in North Waziristan was carried out by a force numbering approximately 50 men. A subsequent attack against an Iranian border installation was reputed to be initiated by a force of over 20 men. While terrorist actions have been a daily way of life in Pakistan, the numbers reported could signify a change in strategy and a decision to force more direct action. For months, TTP fighters were said to be returning to Pakistan from Afghanistan hoping to take advantage of a weakened state to press for an emirate-style Islamic system at home. While the incident on the border with Iran was not related to the TTP, it is possible that coordination between the disparate groups is taking place. Observers are closely scrutinizing the situation to see if the latest attacks have become a trend.
DEFENSE MINISTER IN PAKISTAN SAYS GOV MAY BAN PTI PARTY – Political analysts in Pakistan say they were not surprised by the Defense Minister’s revelation and most believe the former Prime Minister’s party may have made a fatal error when it chose to launch country-wide protests earlier in May. Khan’s party has seen many defections of high-ranking leaders since the 9th of May with the vice president of the party, Fawad Chaudhry, announcing that he too has severed ties with Khan. If the ban goes ahead, many believe it will be immediately nullified by the Supreme Court, setting the stage for another battle between the judicial system and lawmakers.
CLASHES ON BORDER WITH IRAN – A protracted firefight took place on the border with Iran yesterday near Dost Muhammad. The conflict lasted over four hours as border security forces exchanged small arms fire. It is not clear what led to the fighting and there have been no reports of casualties yet. In another incident in Nimroz Province, an Afghan boy was killed after Iranian border elements opened fire on a group of Afghans who attempted to cross into Iran.
FLIGHTS RESUME BETWEEN CHINA AND AFGHANISTAN – Ariana Airlines is now operating a direct flight to Urumqi, China after a three-year hiatus. The first flight departed yesterday and Ariana announced it had plans to purchase more planes in the near future.

[Garowe] Security forces in Kenya foiled a deadly al-Shabaab ...... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa... raid, authorities confirmed, just a few days after brass hats from Kenya and Somalia signed a joint agreement that would foster the opening of the mostly non-existent border between the two countries, which had been closed for several years.
According to police in Kenya, the security forces have been carrying out operations in northeastern Kenya where the gunnies often carry out attacks, in what is definitely geared towards stabilizing the region. al-Shabaab has been a menace to the people of northern Kenya.
A security team seized six AK47 rifles, two Rocket Propelled Grenades, two grenades, and other items during an operation on Monday in Garissa County, police spokesperson Resila Onyango said.
The security team consequently, raided an al-Shabaab camp in the wake of reports that the terrorist group has been sending their members to Kenya over the past month to launch attacks. The coordination is done in neighboring Somalia before attackers are dispatched across the border to target innocent civilians.
The victory "is coming at a time when we are facing threats by the terrorists. The operation is ongoing," Onyango said.
The Somalia-based al-Shabaab hard boyz have been attacking places in the region, especially in Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties in eastern Kenya, after breaching security zones, which has left dozens of civilians and security officials dead and maimed.
Interestingly, the incident comes just a few hours after the US Africa Command team launched an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... in the Middle Juba region, injuring a seasoned al-Shabaab operative. Somalia's Ministry of Information would later confirm that the person targeted was Osman Mohammed Abdi alias, Moallim Osman.
Moalim Osman, sources say, is the current head of al-Shabaab external operations and is linked to numerous attacks in Kenya and the attempted raid in Eastern Æthiopia. He recruits imported muscle and is said to have been critically injured in the airstrike which was conducted on Saturday in Jilib town.
[Goobjoog] A Senior al-Shabaab ...... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... leader was injured during a joint operation by the Somali National Army and its international allies in Jilib, middle Jubba region.
According to an official statement released by the Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Information, Osman Mohammed Abdi was the head of external operations responsible for recruiting and smuggling imported muscle to Somalia to help al-Shabaab and spreading propaganda.
AFRICOM front man Lieutenant Commander Timothy S. Pietrack said the US Army targeted a locating where Abdi was hiding but he is believed to have survived the Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... "Following a comprehensive battle damage assessment, U.S.-AFRICOM has determined that one al-Shabaab leader was injured as a result of the operation," the front man told journalists Tuesday.
Government officials said the targeting of top al-Shabaab leaders was an indication that the Death Eaters will not find a safe place to hide in the country as the National Army steps up efforts to completely push the snuffies out of the country.
Somalia's Ministry of Information confirmed that the injured leader was Osman Mohammed Abdi, known as Moallim Osman who was the target. The government accused him of being in charge of recruitment of imported muscle to the group.
"Osman Mohammed Abdi, a big shot of the terrorist group al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... , was maimed in a joint operation carried out by the National Army and international allies in Jilib. Abdi was responsible for smuggling foreign turbans into the country and spreading propaganda to recruit fighters," state media noted.
Also, former al-Shabaab official Omar Mohammed Abu Ayan told VOA that veteran military commander Osman Mohammed Abdi was injured in the strike, adding that he is the head of external operations. He has also been authorizing attacks in foreign nations, the statement read.
On Saturday, the US activated the Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... in Jilib town, the headquarters of al-Shabaab holy warriors, which is located about 385 kilometers Southwest of Mogadishu. "The command's initial assessment is that no civilians were maimed or killed," an AFRICOM statement said.
Before being appointed as al-Shabaab's head of external operations, Abdi served as defense chief of the group according to several sources. He has been on the target for a number of months, the US Africa Command said.
Somali officials also say he was involved in planning the group's January 2016 attack against an African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... military base manned by Kenyan forces in El Adde. It remains the deadliest holy warrior attack on peacekeepers in Somalia and is the hometown of Moallim Osman, according to Somali security sources.
The El-Adde attack left at least 200 Kenya Defense Forces [KDF] soldiers serving in Sector II of ATMIS, then known as AMISOM, dead. The attack in 2016 would later be followed by another attack at Kulbiyow which left at least 90 KDF soldiers dead.
Somali officials say Moallim Osman's current role includes supervising al-Shabaab attacks in Kenya, where for years the group has carried out strikes against security forces, and he directed al-Shabaab's opportunistic incursion into eastern Æthiopia last July.
Kenya recently signed a pact with Somalia which will see KDF carry joint operations against al-Shabaab along the border. For a long time, Kenya has been the target of the Death Eaters since the activation of Operation Linda Nchi in 2011, leading to al-Shabaab's frequent retaliatory attacks.
[AnNahar] Algerian opposition figure Karim Tabbou has been taken into custody for unknown reasons, reports said Wednesday, with his brother saying plainclothes coppers had detained him at his home.
Tabbou, 48, was one of the most recognisable faces during mass rallies, led by the Hirak pro-democracy movement, that began in February 2019.
The protests demanded a sweeping overhaul of the ruling system in place since the North African country's independence from La Belle France in 1962.
Tabbou "was arrested in Dely Ibrahim", a suburb of the capital Algiers, "by plainclothes police", his brother Djaffar said in a Facebook post late Tuesday, citing lawyer Toufik Belala.
The brother added that Tabbou had not been informed of when he would appear before prosecutors or the charges he might face.
Tabbou's lawyer Belala was unavailable for comment.
Tabbou leads a small, unregistered opposition party, the Democratic and Social Union (UDS).
He was sentenced in March 2020 to one year in jail for "undermining national security" over his criticism of the army's involvement in politics.
After his release from prison, he was detained again in April 2022 for 24 hours for unknown reasons.
The Hirak protests had forced longtime president Abdelaziz Bouteflika ...10th president-for-life of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and served on his third or four terms. The NIA took over the probe fro, the Delhi Police after the Ministry of Home Affairs had met with the UK Home Office representatives in April.
The NIA would be looking into the role by Pakistain into the incident. The NIA is also looking into a larger gangster-terror nexus. It has been probing the role of local gangsters who at the behest of those hiding in Canada are staging attacks in India.
In the Mohali RPG attack case, the NIA had learnt that gangsters from Canada a the behest of the ISI were directing locals to stage attacks in Punjab.
Furthermore the NIA is also probing gangsters operating from the jails in India. Recently the agency learnt that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi had drawn up a hit-lit in which actor Salman Khan was on the top. He is being probed in connection with the murder of singer Siddhu Moosewala.
[AnNahar] A New Jersey software developer who prosecutors say once photographed landmarks in New York, Boston and Washington, D.C., for possible terrorist attacks has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by a federal judge who said it seemed he no longer was a danger.
In fact, Judge Paul G. Gardephe noted, Alexei Saab,
...also known as Ali Hassan Saab, Alex Saab, and Rachid. Until his 2019 arrest he worked as director of information technology for a Morristown, New Jersey energy company, supplementing his income as an adjunct lecturer at Baruch College. He joined Hezbollah in 1996, soaked up all sorts of advanced spy & sabotage training, and by 2003 was collecting information about potential targets in the US, which proved no barrier to his naturalization in the fateful year of 2008. There is also the small matter of marriage fraud because he married a fellow agent...
46, has become a model prisoner since his 2019 arrest, helping others incarcerated at New York City's federal jails to get high school equivalency certificates, learn English and find relief from psychological problems.
He does so hate to be bored...
Gardephe called Saab's 2005 exit from his relationship with Hezbollah and the "peaceful and productive" life he lived in the New York City area afterward among "inconvenient facts" that made it impossible to grant the government's request that Saab be incarcerated for 20 years.

[IsraelTimes] Gunfire exchanges reported in refugee camp close to West Bank city; Paleostinian media says one person critically injured
At least six Paleostinians were said to be maimed in an Israeli military raid in the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp near the West Bank city of Jericho late Wednesday, Paleostinian health officials said.
Paleostinian sources cited by Ynet said some 50 military vehicles entered the camp, blocking entries and exits, as Israeli troops began raiding homes.
A number of gunfire exchanges were heard. Paleostinian media reported that at least one of the casualties sustained a critical injury.
There was no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces.
Earlier this month, a Paleostinian teenager affiliated with the Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, terror group was killed during an Israeli military raid in the camp.
The IDF said at the time that troops had entered the refugee camp to arrest two wanted Paleostinians. The military operation came amid a rise in intelligence alerts of potential terror attacks by Paleostinians in the Jericho area.
The IDF had imposed heavy restrictions on movement in and out of the West Bank city amid those concerns as several Paleostinians set out from Jericho and the surrounding area to carry out attacks against Israeli civilians and security forces.
Last Monday, military prosecutors filed indictments against two Paleostinian men accused of carrying out a terror shooting attack near Jericho this year, killing dual American-Israeli citizen Elan Ganeles. The two suspects, residents of the Aqbat Jabr refugee camp, were detained by troops during a raid on March 1, just days after the deadly highway attack on February 27.
The Israeli military also raided the camp last week, detaining two suspects, days after agreed to a ceasefire with the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... following almost a week of violence.
Jericho and the adjacent Aqabat Jabr refugee camp are part of Area A of the West Bank — officially under complete Paleostinian Authority control, though the Israeli military conducts activities there.
Recent months have seen deadly festivities in Aqabat Jabr. Among the casualties were a 20-year-old Paleostinian who was rubbed out after fleeing from Israeli troops on April 24, and a 15-year-old Paleostinian who allegedly hurled Molotov cocktails at IDF forces.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says troops located a "mock" rocket launcher in the northern West Bank, after footage showed Paleostinians apparently attempting to launch a homemade projectile at a nearby settlement.
The IDF says the launcher was found in the town of Nazlet Zeid, close to the settlement of Shaked.
The clip circulating online ostensibly shows a single rocket being launched, although it is likely the attempt was unsuccessful.
Earlier this month, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar said security forces had foiled attempts by Paleostinians in the northern West Bank to manufacture rockets to be launched at Israel.
[IsraelTimes] Agency alleges Muhammed Nadir Mahajneh was suffering financial pressure and mental distress before he was directed by Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... -ruling terror group to carry out attack
The Shin Bet security agency on Wednesday said it had foiled an attempt by the Gaza Strip-ruling Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, terror group to carry out a bombing attack on a bus in the north, using an Israeli man to plant the device.
In the early hours of April 2, Muhammed Nadir Mahajneh, 20, a resident of the Arab city of Umm al-Fahm,
...home of the militant arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Israel, which calls itself the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement...
was detained by the elite police Unit 33, also known as Gideonim, over his alleged involvement in the plot.
According to the Shin Bet, Mahajneh was recruited by the military wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, several months ago, to carry out a bombing against civilians on a bus in Hadera.
The agency said the suspect, due to financial pressure and mental distress, began to "adopt the ideology of the Moslem Brüderbund, and later decided that he wanted to commit jihad."
Mahajneh was found to be in possession of "media used to communicate with Hamas in the Gaza Strip," the Shin Bet and police said.
The Shin Bet investigation revealed that Mahajneh scouted out a number of locations in Israel for the bombing attack, "with an emphasis on security sites and crowded places, and sent the information he gathered to Hamas in the Gaza Strip," the agency said.
Ultimately, according to instructions he received from Hamas, he chose his target: bus line 921 — from Haifa to Petah Tikva — as it passes Hadera.
The Shin Bet published Google Maps screenshots taken by Mahajneh, which ostensibly shows he marked possible locations to plant a bomb — outside Afula Municipal Stadium and several nearby bus stops, or Hadera’s central bus station, and several other bus stops in the city.
An indictment charging Mahajneh with "serious security offenses" was filed on May 9, the Shin Bet said.
The agency warned that Hamas was increasingly trying to carry out attacks in Israel. The Shin Bet noted that two Arab Israeli men arrested in January for a similar bombing plot were likely recruited by "the same infrastructure."
"The investigation of the affair once again reveals the efforts of Hamas to advance terror activity in Israeli territory, while trying to publicly distance itself from involvement, at the same time it falsely presents itself as wanting to advance the [long-term] arrangements in the Gaza Strip. This, while cynically exploiting Israeli citizens and recruiting them for terror activity," a Shin Bet source said.
The Shin Bet warned that the "responsibility for such activities lies with the leadership of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, headed by Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip."
[IsraelTimes] Tanks return machine gun fire at source of shooting, a week after army dropped threatening flyers in area
Gunfire from southern Syria was directed at an Israeli military drone operating above the border in the Golan Heights on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said.
According to the IDF, the drone was conducting “routine surveillance activity” and landed safely, without any damage being caused by the light arms fire.
The IDF said tanks returned machine gun fire at the area in southern Syria where the gunfire was detected.
Syrian media did not immediately comment on the incident.
Last week, the Israeli military dropped flyers in southern Syria, warning Syrian soldiers against cooperating with the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group in the area.
The IDF has repeatedly accused Syrian dictator Bashar Assad’s military of actively assisting Hezbollah and warned it against this, both through flyers dropped along the border and through overt, public appeals.
Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes in Syria in recent years, saying it attacks arms shipments believed to be bound for Iran-backed groups, chief among them Hezbollah. Additionally, airstrikes attributed to Israel have repeatedly targeted Syrian air defense systems.
Israel has also carried out several strikes along the border targeting Hezbollah and Iranian efforts to entrench themselves in the country.
Israel says it is trying to prevent Iran, one of the Syrian government’s key allies in the 12-year-old civil war, from gaining a permanent military foothold on its doorstep.
During a conference on Monday, the head of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate warned that Hezbollah’s leader was “close to making a mistake” that could spark a regional war, while warning that the conflict between Israel and Iran was becoming increasingly direct.
