Five men linked to a deadly gang-related shootout Friday in Austin were released from custody after prosecutors declined to charge each of them with a pair of felonies, including first-degree murder, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
The brazen mid-morning shootout, which left one shooter dead and two of the suspects maimed, stemmed from an internal dispute between two factions of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang, according to an internal police report and a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation.
The source said police sought to charge all five suspects with murder and aggravated battery. By Sunday morning, a Chicago police spokeswoman acknowledged the suspects had "been released without charges."
In a statement later Sunday, Cristina Villareal, a spokeswoman for the Cook County state’s attorney’s office, explained that prosecutors had "determined that the evidence was insufficient to meet our burden of proof to approve felony charges." Police officials agreed with the decision, Villareal added.
While she wouldn’t specify what other evidence prosecutors needed to file charges, the police report acknowledged that victims of the shootout weren’t cooperating with Sherlocks.
But the report also framed the state’s attorney’s office’s decision to decline charges in a different light: "Mutual combatants was cited as the reason for the rejection." Mutual combat is a legal term used to define a fight or struggle that two parties willingly engage in.

After repeating the message in Spanish, Fried fired off a preemptive warning to would-be trolls.
"If you choose to reply to this tweet, please show some empathy," she said. "Casey is a mother of three and deserves our support in this difficult fight."
Her warning appeared to come in response to several politically motivated nasty tweets about the Florida first lady’s battle.
"I feel sorry for Casey DeSantis, not only to get such a horrible diagnosis but also face the prospect of Ron DeSantis choosing between (a) helping protect his wife’s immune system by wearing a mask; and (b) pandering to anti-maskers for his voracious political ambitions," tweeted Canadian comedian Deven Green, who often performs as the character Mrs. Betty Bowers, "America’s Best Christian."
"I wish Casey DeSantis well," wrote another Twitter user claiming to be a "Front line ICU MP." "I hope she is smart enough not to allow her husband treat her breast cancer with Ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine."

"As such," it continues, "NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the appropriate training, coordination, investigations, and enforcement mechanisms from the FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time... , including any technical assistance necessary from, and state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight."

If unruly parents at a school board meeting do anything unlawful, isn't that a matter for local law enforcement? And if such events have occurred, have any school board members called on local law enforcement to enforce the law? Have any charges actually been made? Do we have any examples, anything at all, of threats or violence or intimidation? Where and when? What evidence is there? I ask these questions because I smell steer manure being used to stifle legitimate dissent.

[FOXNEWS] The Justice Department (DOJ) is facing a wave of backlash as parents criticize its recent decision to investigate potential acts of violence against school boards across the country.
It came after the National School Boards Association (NSBA) asked the Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft ...the collection of boodlers, grifters, hangers-on, and self-proclaimed experts affiliated with the Biden Crime Family. Entrusted with an entire nation as the result of a suspicious election, they set about happily implementing stuff they absorbed in college, all of which blew up and splattered the rest of us... for assistance, suggesting that the threats and acts of violence were similar to domestic terrorism.
"I am what a domestic terrorist looks like?" asked Asra Nomani, vice president of investigations and strategy at Parents Defending Education. "You owe parents an apology!" Nomani's group has been conducting deep research into how school boards across the country are implementing so-called "woke" ideas in their curricula.
Nomani's group has launched a forum on their website that purportedly sends emails to DOJ. The draft email reads: "I urge you to reconsider mobilizing the U.S. Department of Justice against concerned parents who are exercising their First Amendment rights at school board meetings across the country."
"Our country’s children deserve a high-quality education. Please do not criminalize the American citizens that advocate on their behalf."
On Tuesday, Nomani changed her Twitter display name to "Asra Q. Nomani ’Domestic Terrorist’" in an apparent attempt to mock the suspicion of parents like herself. In another tweet, she said Attorney General Merrick Garland had issued a "declaration of war" against parents.
[Western Journal] Amid much opposition, President Joe Biden continues to champion his $1 trillion infrastructure plan. His latest pitch took place in Michigan on Tuesday.
Biden won the state in the 2020 election, thanks mostly to large numbers of Democratic voters in Detroit and the surrounding area. But a large majority of counties in Michigan voted for then-President Donald Trump.
When Biden visited to make his questionable infrastructure pitch, he went to one of those pro-Trump counties. Specifically, the president visited the city of Howell in Livingston County, WXYZ-TV reported.
Biden won just 38 percent of the vote in Livingston County, compared with 61 percent for Trump.
If Howell resident Leonard Petty is any indication, the president has not won widespread support in the area during his eight-plus months in office.

[NYPOST] Sen. Kyrsten Sinema was confronted by another group of activists on Monday during her trip back to Washington, DC, one day after she was accosted while teaching a class at Arizona State University.
During and after her flight to Reagan National Airport, the Arizona Democrat was filmed by protesters who pressed her on her resistance to voting for the $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation bill.
Video footage uploaded to Twitter showed Sinema walking through the airport and talking on her cellphone as several protesters gathered around her, filming on their phones. One protester could be seen holding a sign that read, "Don’t sink our bill."
As a TSA agent walked behind the senator, another protester could be heard asking, "Hi, Senator Sinema, I want to ask if you can explain to the American people what you’re planning on cutting from Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. "I dedicated my life as a police officer for 22 years [to] fighting against the systemic racism ...the idea that the nation is racist to the core, always was, and always will be. 330 million Americans live in Selma, Alabama in 1965, and we're never, ever leaving... that exists, and just really how we perceive everyday New Yorkers. And so, it’s difficult for Curtis to talk about systemic racism, because he has been a leading voice of being a racist," the former NYPD captain said on "The Brian Lehrer Show," when asked about his perspective on nine FDNY members who were suspended for sending racist messages.
"It’s hard for him to address something that’s systemic, and I’m not afraid to point out where systemic racism exists."
His answer came after Lehrer noted that Sliwa on the same radio show a day earlier characterized the FDNY members as a few bad apples rather than part of a pattern of bigotry.
In response to Adams’ comments, Sliwa fired back with his own allegation Tuesday, saying Adams has a habit of accusing people with whom he has a difference of opinion of being racist.
"This is always his fallback position when he has a disagreement with you: He calls people racist," Sliwa told The Post. "This is all part of the tradition of Eric Adams. If you disagree with Eric Adams, you’re a racist.
"When his back is against the wall, he’s always calling his adversaries racist."

I am certain you have noticed that Fox News teevee advertising has suddenly gone totally woke. At least 70% of all Fox commercials now feature African American people. Strangely however, the people featured all dress and speak like mid-western white people and possess supervisory or business owner positions. The 'teevee land' houses they live in are single family, upper middle-class in style and neighborhood. The automobiles they drive also reflect white American tastes.

Wolfe uses a statement from Grass as a springboard for the saying he helped enter into widespread distribution: “The dark night of fascism is always descending in the United States and yet lands only in Europe.” The two men shared the stage at a ruckus 1965 panel at Princeton University, dominated both on the panel and in the audience by paranoid lefties convinced that fellow Democrat Lyndon Johnson was the new fascistic boogieman*, including Allen Ginsberg and Merry Prankster Paul Krassner, about whom Wolfe notes:
The next thing I knew, the discussion was onto the subject of fascism in America. Back during the GWBush era, the Federal Govt was working on proving emergency aid to people who had lost their income because of Hurricane Katrina.
Many people provided rudimentary financial records of their income but when the FEMA folks went to verify income in the IRS records they found that a fair number of businesses, typically sole propriatorships, did not file a tax return. They were paid in cash or by check.

Banks have essentially become virtual reporting agents of the IRS. They are no longer private entities. A growing number of people have been avoiding banks and traceable check transactions. Bartering, or conducting business via cash has been going on for years. These 'non-taxable' transactions are the actual target of the government.
The reporting of $600. withdrawals is a method of identifying potential larger purchases or services being conducted by cash.
The goal is of course to capture or make visible, bartering, cash payments, and non-reported income. None of these reporting schemes effect the very wealthy who employ tax attorney's, foundations, and overseas banking and investment vehicles to avoid taxes.

Clearly they are attacking the poor. The poor are also uneducated and don't understand what is happening. They will get it if they actually have to pay taxes on unreported income. As far as cash is concerned, there is only so much in circulation. As I understand it only about a trillion. They want to go to a gov't controlled crypto as well. I mean, eventually the $ will be worth less than the paper it's printed on. Billionaires and millionaires will pay taxes if they want to. Generally, taxes are avoidable, legally, for the most part. Sometimes they clip you. The bastards!
The bank reporting of deposits is going to catch a lot of the working poor. These are people who do gig work and are paid in cash or by check. Dishwashers, landscape workers, etc.
What people haven't really addressed yet is that a lot of the working poor don't have federal tax liability ($24k for a couple). So they would be guilty of non reporting but not to owe taxes. This is really awful for anyone who thinks through the issue.

Gosh, could that be a reason why governments south of our border have little interest in stopping the flow of illegals into the US? I mean, it beats the heck out of trying to build an economy of your own and it's easy to skim a percentage of each transaction.
[FOXNEWS] Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., on Tuesday confronted U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco over the Justice Department’s new crackdown on the alleged harassment of school officials, saying it will unfairly target parents who oppose the progressive agenda.
Blackburn caught up with Monaco as she was leaving a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee and asked about the DOJ’s memo. The memo directed the FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time... and U.S. attorney offices to hold meetings with federal, state and local law enforcement leaders within 30 days to discuss ways to combat what the DOJ described as an "increase in harassment, intimidation and threats of violence against school board members, teachers and workers in our nation’s public schools." C-SPAN cameras captured the confrontation between Blackburn and Monaco.
The senator said the "implication" of the memo was that parents who do not adhere to the progressive agenda are to be considered by the state as "violent mostly peaceful."
Monaco attempted to protest, but Blackburn continued, "It’s not always what you say, it’s what people perceive that you are saying. So, I think this is an incredibly dangerous precedent.
"And this coupled with the lack of respect for these young women that came for the Larry Nassar hearing is something that’s not very good for the DOJ right now," Blackburn added, referring to the FBI's mishandling of the sexual abuse of Olympic gymnasts.
"The message that you are sending to parents, to individuals, is, ’You take everything that we say or we’re not going to be there to protect you.’ And I think that’s a very dangerous place to be," the senator continued. "This memo last night looks as if you are second-guessing every parent who is asking the question about what is being taught."
