Harry and Meghan Markle are joining a growing anti-free speech movement in the US
[FOXNEWS] The media went into a frenzy this weekend when the bonny Prince Harry
gave a huge harrumph to the First Amendment.

On a show appropriately called the "Armchair Expert," Harry declared the First Amendment "bonkers" and expressed frustration about how it protects the media in its "feeding frenzy" over his life. Harry’s criticism of the First Amendment can be dismissed as the unfamiliarity of a royal refugee. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
it is actually far more serious than that.

Harry and his American wife Princess Meghan Markle
...unlikable American former starlet married to the formerly likable Prince Harry. Chock full of lefty political opinions, Markle's most important characteristic is that she is Black, even though she doesn't look it. Her mother, y'see, is half black and her father is white, which would make her a quarter Black. Her half brother described her (to her husband, before their marriage) as a jaded, shallow, conceited woman that will make a joke of you and the royal family heritage. Once married, she was too good for the Royals and she and Harry decamped to Beverly Hills, kind of like the Clampetts did, thus making a joke of Harry and the royal family heritage...
have attacked media rights in England and succeeded under the laws of the United Kingdom. They are now joining a growing anti-free speech movement in the United States.

It was a surprise for many to hear Harry lash out at the First Amendment. After all, Harry and Meghan are so woke, they are virtual insomniacs. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
that is the point. The First Amendment no longer holds the inviolate position it once did with the left.

Indeed, the First Amendment is now more often treated as a danger than a guarantee to a fair and just society. Experts have explained how to evade its limitations to silence others. They have found precisely what Harry discussed in the interview when he noted "you can find a loophole in anything."

Democratic leaders now openly call for corporate censorship and the banning of books and authors. Academics join in the canceling of colleagues who express dissenting views of subjects ranging from climate change to gender identification to racial justice. Thus, it is not as risky for the Harry to declare "I’ve got so much I want to say about the First Amendment as I sort of understand it, but it is bonkers." Rather, millions are likely to wait in rapt anticipation to hear more of what Prince Harry will say about correcting our Constitution.

What is missing in the coverage of this controversy is a far more serious context to Harry offering his "armchair expertise."

The United Kingdom has a strikingly different approach to free speech and particularly press rights. The British media are subject to harsh laws giving the government far greater powers to control or punish publications. Fortunately, the government has been largely benign in the use of such laws but there are far greater restrictions placed on British media than their American cousins. (For full disclosure, I was until a few months ago a legal analyst for the BBC.)

One American who seems to have embraced the more restrictive laws on expression and the media is Meghan Markle. Recently, Piers Morgan, the former co-host of ITV’s "Good Morning Britannia," was canned after he committed the unpardonable sin of declaring on air that he didn’t believe a word of what Markle told Oprah in her now famous interview.

Markle and others reported TIV and Morgan to United Kingdom’s "Ofcom," or Office of Communications, for violation of its "harm and offense rules." Ofcom enforces a chilling set of regulations that allows a severe penalties for expressing any views deemed "harmful or offensive" or assertions that could "materially mislead" others.

#9  While I don't care for Harry Markle and his views, I believe the right to expression for individuals must be unrestricted while for corporate entities tightly regulated. We shall all rue the liberties granted to an increasingly mercenary media. Social platforms have reserved the right to curb free speech, a power denied to even the State.

Burisma's Checks Clear: Biden to waive sanctions on company in charge of Nord Stream 2
[Axios] The Biden administration will waive sanctions on the corporate entity and CEO overseeing the construction of Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline into Germany, according to two sources briefed on the decision.
The usual corruption they're already on retainer for, or the "price" of the release of the "decryption key" for the Colonial Pipeline? We'll never know.
The State Department will also acknowledge that the corporate entity in charge of the project (Nord Stream 2 AG) and its CEO (Putin crony and former East German intelligence officer Matthias Warnig) are engaged in sanctionable activities.

However, the State Department will waive the applications of those sanctions, citing U.S. national interests.

This planned move seems at odds with Secretary of State Antony Blinken's statement, made during his confirmation hearing: "I am determined to do whatever we can to prevent that completion" of Nord Stream 2.

Purge at the Pentagon: Outrage as Defense Secretary's woke race adviser plans trawl of military personnel's social media for 'extremist and concerning behavior' - using private company to circumvent the First Amendment

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • The Pentagon is planning to 'continuously' trawl the social media accounts of military personnel for extremist behavior and views under a pilot program

  • Details of the program haven't been made public but emerged from sources and internal documents obtained by The Intercept

  • The program is being spearheaded by Bishop Garrison, a senior advisor to President Biden's Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin

  • Garrison has previously said Trump and his supporters are racist and is an advocate for Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project

  • Officials say it'll use the services of a private surveillance company to try and circumvent or avoid any criticism regarding First Amendment protections

  • Babel Street, a company that sells social media monitoring software, is the front runner to carry out the surveillance

  • The program will likely use keyword searches on social media to identify military personnel with extremist political views or behaviors

  • Furious critics have been quick to slam news of the potential program, saying the keyword search strategy is flawed because it is an invasion of privacy

  • They also argue it will return 'false positives' and undermine morale if military personnel are constantly second guessing what they post on social media

Biden in Michigan Ignores Record Allowing China to Buy Up American Electric Vehicle Industry
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden, while touting his $174 billion electric vehicle (EV) plan, ignored his record of allowing Chinese investors with ties to the Chinese Communist Party to buy up key parts of the American EV industry.

During a speech at the Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, Michigan, Biden touted his record as vice president to former President Barack Obama in relation to the nation’s battery-powered EVs.

“Our own Department of Energy pioneered and transformed the battery industry when Barack and I were in office. And through the Recovery Act’s grants and loans, battery prices dropped 80 percent because we were looking forward,” Biden said.

Biden also said he would not allow “a single contract go to a single company that does not hire Americans, have all American parts, and has an American supply chain that is an American product supply chain.”

Unmentioned in the speech, though, was Biden’s record of allowing Chinese investors with Chinese Communist Party ties to acquire American companies with EV technology capabilities.

White House: Trump didn’t do ‘anything constructive’ to bring Mideast peace
Lying liars who lie.
[IsraelTimes] The White House dismisses the Abraham Accords brokered by the Trump administration that saw the establishment of diplomatic ties between Israel and several Arab states.
And then their lips fell off.
"Aside from putting forward a peace proposal that was dead on arrival, we don’t think they did anything constructive, really, to bring an end to the long-standing conflict in the Middle East," says Press Secretary Jen Psaki
...a valley girl who woke up one morning and found she was spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of State under Obama...
, when asked specifically about the normalization agreements.

It was not clear whether Psaki was referring to the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict in particular or broader Israel-Arab ties in the region, though she only referred to the former.

Arizona election auditors: Deleted database recovered, ballot chain-of-custody still missing, dup. ballot serial numbers missing
[Just the News] Maricopa County's explanation of refusal to share routers, passwords suggests voting machines were connected to internet.

Arizona Senate Republicans tried to ease tensions with Maricopa County officials angry about the ongoing election audit in a special hearing Tuesday.

"This has nothing to do with overturning the election" that Joe Biden won in the state's largest county, Senate President Karen Fann said in her opening statement. She claimed to have always said she doesn't expect to find "intentional wrongdoing" by county officials.

The Board of Supervisors said they wouldn't testify at Tuesday's hearing in their own Monday meeting and formal response to Fann's questions about irregularities and missing data discovered by Senate-hired auditors.

Those auditors updated Fann and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Warren Petersen on their efforts Tuesday. Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan said he expected to complete the audit by the end of June, blaming technical issues and insufficient staffing for the slow pace.

CyFIR founder Ben Cotton said he had resolved one of the most bitter disputes between Senate Republicans and county officials: the alleged deletion of the main database for the 2020 general election.

Despite finding a "master file table" confirming that a database directory was deleted from the server, Cotton has been able to recover the deleted files and does not need anything more from the county, he told lawmakers. "I think that's some good news," Petersen replied.
Recovered? How very interesting... for some, anyway.
The county does not want to let the issue go. "Maricopa County did not delete files when preparing the subpoenaed SQL server for delivery," it said in a tweet thread shortly after the hearing ended.

Senate Republicans emphasized they were making good-faith efforts to fix ongoing problems with Arizona elections revealed by the audit, including through legislative changes to chain-of-custody requirements.

Bennett was similarly flummoxed by conversations with his county counterpart over the transfer of routers involved in the election, now the subject of a stalemate with Sheriff Paul Penzone.

He offered to send the contractor to Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) to inspect the routers "while they were still installed and in place," but his counterpart told Bennett the next day the equipment had already been removed and replaced "at great expense."
And who signed off for that great expense, pray tell?

Serial numbers missing between original, duplicate ballots in Arizona election audit: official

[Just the News] The Arizona Senate's audit of Maricopa County's general election has hit a new snag: verifying whether some ballots may have been counted twice.

The liaison between Senate Republicans who authorized the audit and county officials told a hearing Tuesday that serial numbers were missing on damaged ballots that were duplicated so they could be read by vote tabulation machines.

Former Secretary of State Ken Bennett's team uncovered the error just a few days ago, he told Senate President Karen Fann and Judicial Committee Chair Warren Petersen. Each damaged ballot and its associated duplicate ballot are supposed to have the same serial number to ensure they are only counted once.

But he has found many batches of damaged ballots without the serial numbers that are on the duplicates, violating state law. "We are struggling as to how we're going to be able to match up" those damaged and duplicated ballots, Bennett said.

Deleted data can be recovered in too many cases.

The DOD 7 and others that do multiple write-overs are as close as it gets to a warm and fuzzy and still using it later feeling.

Examples:
BleachBit & Darik's Boot and Nuke
or the old DOS DEBUG command to low level a hard drive.

Note: There Electron Microscopes and Super Sensitive Magnetic field recorders that can reconstruct multiple layers of data toss, to something looking like a typical SOS Hillary retracted doc.

The only process I feel safe with concerning hard drives, is to disassemble them, sand down the platters with a table sander and tossed whats left in the Fire Pit to melt.

Rage of the NeverTrumpers
[AMGREATNESS] The apparent suicide plunge of U.S. Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) appears to be the psychopathic backlash of NeverTrumpers who are starting to realize Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s defeat in November and the allegations he was attempting to overturn the election by provoking an "insurrection" at the Capitol on January 6 do not bring back the Republican Party of the Bushes and McCain and Romney, as those families seem to imagine. This is only the first shoe dropping. It will soon be followed by the realization of the role the NeverTrumpers have played in shackling the country and the Western world to the unfolding disaster of the Biden presidency.

Like Brutus charging out of the Roman Senate on the Ides of March, 44 B.C., holding up two bloodied knives and expecting to be applauded after proudly shouting to a distracted group of observers that they had assassinated the tyrant, Cheney acknowledges she voted in support of the Trump Administration over 90 percent of the time, but that her reverence for the rule of law requires her to oppose the "Big Lie." This lie, she insists, is that there is some question about the legitimacy of the election result. She also holds that there can be no question that Trump attempted to launch a violent mostly peaceful assault on the vital processes of the U.S. electoral process by inciting the invasion and vandalization of the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

My road trip back to reality
[AMERICANTHINKER] Road trips often elicit thoughts and memories of quirky roadside attractions, local food, postcards, and long hours behind the wheel. A recent trip from my home in Maryland to Texas, for a nephew's wedding, was just the excuse my wife and I needed to create some of these road trip memories for our family of five. Our trip didn't disappoint as we visited family and famous attractions: the Parthenon in Nashville; a Civil War museum and battlefield in New Market, Va.; and Buc-ee's in Texas.

I couldn't help but notice the striking difference between the two different worlds we encountered along the way.

Unlike the state of Maryland, Texas has many citizens focused on freedom of action and thought. Everyone we encountered at the wedding was unafraid of COVID and exhibited independence and self-reliance in personal matters. These people were staunchly against the government telling them what they could and couldn't do.

Andrew Giuliani announces 2022 bid for New York governor
[NYPOST] Andrew Giuliani has dreams of turning next year’s gubernatorial race into another "Fight of the Century."

The son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will announce Tuesday that he’s officially running for the Republican primary in 2022 — and is confident he can not only knock out veteran GOP competition but then go on to take out scandal-ridden Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo
...Dem dynastic governor of Noo Yawk, the son and heir of the late Mario Cuoma and formerly married to a Kennedy. Acclaimed for his leadership during the COVID epidemic, he managed the nation's highest corpse count while successfully hiding the returns. Among the nation's horniest politicians, he has about a dozen allegations of sexual harrassment and groping against him. Noo Yawk's politix being what they are, he is still hanging tough, waiting to ride it out....
"I’m a politician out of the womb. It’s in my DNA," Giuliani, 35, told The Post, referring to his childhood as the son of a larger than life Big Apple mayor.

"Giuliani vs. Cuomo. Holy smokes. Its Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier. We can sell tickets at Madison Square Garden," he said, referring to the famous 1971 heavyweight title prizefight.

Giuliani, 35, who served for four years as a White House aide to former President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons......
, insisted he is qualified to run — despite having never before run for a public office — and that he has the best chance to topple embattled three-term incumbent Cuomo.
PJ Media adds:
New York GOP Chairman Nick Langworthy responded to Andrew Giuliani’s announcement in a statement. "Rudy will forever be known as the man who transformed New York City and Andrew can be the one to do it statewide," Langworthy said. "New York is broken and in need of the type of overhaul that the Giuliani Administration ushered in during the 1990s. The corruption, deadly mismanagement, and incompetence of the Cuomo Administration has energized our Party from the ground up, as evidenced by the number of accomplished New Yorkers who have stepped forward to run."

Langworthy stopped short of a full-fledged endorsement. "We look forward to a spirited discussion about who can best move our state forward," he said. "But one thing is certain: we are united in our shared mission to save our state."

Before the young politician can face Andrew Sonny Cuomo, he must survive the GOP primary. Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.)
...Member of House Financial Services & Foreign Affairs Committees. Lieutenant Colonel in Army Reserve...
of Long Island declared his candidacy last month.

The big question in this stand-off is which candidate might earn the coveted endorsement of Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
. Andrew Giuliani worked in the Trump White House as a special assistant to the president and associate director of the Office of Public Liaison. Lee Zeldin was a stalwart supporter of Trump throughout his presidency.

While Cuomo still faces potential impeachment, both candidates seem convinced that the winner of the GOP primary will ultimately face the scandal-plagued governor. In fact, this may actually be the Republican Party’s best chance to win the governorship.

Jayapal: Republicans Denying Capitol Riot Is 'Biggest Threat to Our National Security'
[BREITBART] Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) said on this week’s broadcast of MSNBC’s "The Sunday Show" that Republicans who deny the severity of the riot inside the U.S. Capitol building on January 6 was "the biggest threat to our national security and our democracy that we’re facing now."
What a lovely world she must live in, if that is the biggest threat in it.
Capehart said, "Your reaction to statements that were made durning hearings early last week about the January 6 insurrection?"

Referencing Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) saying last week at a House Oversight Committee hearing that some people inside the Capitol behaved as if they were on "a normal tourist visit," Capehart said, "I can’t remember a particular member of Congress who said it was no big deal, it was like any old other day of people taking tours of the Capitol."

Jayapal said, "I think that’s the biggest threat to our national security and our democracy that we’re facing now."

She continued, "The way in which Republicans are not all but the vast majority of Republicans are refusing to even admit that the insurrection was real and they truly are a one-man cult. The only thing required to be in the Republican Party today is whether or not you swear to Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
and the big lie that the election was stolen, extremely dangerous."

#1  The Capitol Hill thingy was the biggest threat to the libDem idea of Democracy. It implied that common citizens own the edifices of government and not the elite. That is an idea people like them cannot allow to gestate. It needs be crushed totally. And what better way but to call it domestic terror.

#2  "the biggest threat to our national security and our democracy that we’re facing now."

The democracy died a long time ago. The danger to her 'security' is that the actors are now unmasked and naked before too many people to ignor.

Minneapolis mayor introduces plan for dealing with uptick in violence
[KSTP] Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey introduced his plan for dealing with a significant uptick in violence in the city during a news conference Monday.

"We're standing here with a very clear message and that message is: the status quo cannot prevail," Frey said.

The announcement came after a deadly weekend in Minneapolis. Police said one person was killed and 12 others were hurt in multiple shootings. A 9-year-old girl was among the victims hospitalized at death's door.

"Enough is enough. Something has to give and we're not going to get anything done unless we do it together," said Jalilia Brown, a pastor at Shiloh Temple who also spoke during Monday's news conference.

Minneapolis Police Department said there have been 27 homicides in the city so far in 2021, the highest number in more than a decade for this point in the year.

Frey said his new model for community safety would focus on four priorities: a summer safety response, targeted resources and investment, an accountability and culture shift within Minneapolis Police Department, and 'safety beyond policing,' which he said would include alternative responses to violence.

The plan involves bringing in federal partners to help investigate gun crimes, creating a task force to focus on violent mostly peaceful "hot spots" and putting millions of dollars into a "safety fund" for community partners.

What on earth does this gibberish even mean? Not that I think Jacob Frey has any idea, either, but I guess it sounds good on sound bites on uncritical TV "news" programs.

#7  a summer safety response, targeted resources and investment, an accountability and culture shift... 'safety beyond policing,' ... alternative responses to violence.

This is authentic urban gibberish. Being meaningless is the point, since it allows the listener to project their desires and politics onto whatever they think the message was. It's all BOMFOG.

De Blasio adding 250 police patrols to NYC subway system amid MTA pressure
[NYPOST] Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him...
’s promise to temporarily add 250 more police patrols to Big Apple subways won’t be enough to tackle the surge in transit crimes, transit officials and police sources said Monday.
But without a change in the Rules of Engagement, having more bodies won’t change anything.
De Blasio, bowing to months of pressure from transit leaders, said the move will bring the number of cops patrolling the underground to 3,250.

The 250 cops will extend their shifts and work overtime to cover the transit system during the morning and evening rush hours.

Transit officials said it’s just not enough.

"I think we need more beyond that, but the dialogue between the MTA and the state and the city should continue and I thank the mayor for the additional coppers," MTA Chairman Pat Foye said at a briefing.

"We need a commitment from City Hall that these patrols will remain dedicated to the transit system as we recover."

No, US policing doesn't trace its roots to heinous slave patrols
[NYPOST] There’s a storyline in vogue among those who would defund the cops that claims that modern policing grew out of the vile squads that hunted runaway slaves. "From slave patrols to traffic stops. We can’t reform this," Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) recently admonished.

It’s a slur, and a dangerous one: Modern police didn’t get their start as slave patrols, and saying so is just one more way activists stir up anger against law enforcement. Such ahistorical statements silence vital dialogue about police reform and decrease trust.

Most of the 18,000 US police agencies were founded after abolition, and many were explicitly modeled on modern concepts of policing invented by the British. And the officers in many major cities — including LA, Houston and Atlanta — are mainly minorities. To call the increasingly diverse ranks of the police some kind of modern slave-driving force is offensive and obscene.

Such falsehoods distract from a much more important — and daunting — challenge. In many US cities in 2021, there is an inherent tension between police and black citizens. In 2020, in New York City, over 63 percent of homicide suspects were black, as were 65 percent of homicide victims. Over 49 percent of rape suspects were black, as were over 40 percent of rape victims.

Over 53 percent of felonious-assault suspects were black, as were over 46 percent of the victims. Almost 66 percent of robbery suspects and 61 percent of grand-larceny suspects were black. Over half the suspects for petit larceny, misdemeanor criminal mischief, possession of stolen property, juvenile felony and misdemeanor offenses were black. Most staggering: Over 72 percent of shooting suspects and nearly 74 percent of victims were black.

Gotham’s population is 21.7 percent black.

A quick look at the numbers above makes clear that NYPD will be interacting with black citizens under tense conditions a massively disproportionate amount of time. Not because of history, but because of crime rates.

We may not have an explanation for why crime commission is so unequal among New Yorkers of different races. But one thing is clear: To combat a very real and very understandable perception that police are targeting blacks, police need to interact with minority New Yorkers in non-tense situations. Community policing in the past few decades was such a positive revolution partly because it pushed officers to be fixtures in the community, to know a neighborhood and its residents, to be familiar and trusted.

#1  Of course US policing traces to slave patrols. And USA was founded on slave labor.
Similarly, Jews crucified Jesus. And they use blood of virgins in religious rituals.

And if you think that these two sets of statements have different psychological basis, I can offer you a very good deal on Brooklyn Bridge.
