began on the morning of December 12. It is planned to cut the bronze figures standing on the pedestal into pieces weighing no more than four tons each.
It is clarified that the governor of the Sofia region, Vyara Todeva, signed a decree on the demolition of the monument based on the latest inspection of its condition. Allegedly, as a result of an inspection, cracks and erosion were found on the monument, posing a danger to people. According to Todeva, after dismantling the figures will be transferred to the ownership of the state.
Partially melt the pieces together, then put the whole thing back on its pedestal, now titled “Bulgaria rejects Russian conquest”.
When dismantling began, a police cordon was deployed around the place where the monument was erected.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing pointed out the inexcusable actions of the Bulgarian authorities to dismantle the monument to the Soviet army. Zakharova emphasized that the Bulgarian authorities “without any shyness” ignored Russia’s proposals to hold consultations on the future fate of the monument.
Did Russia plan to buy the thing and move it out of the country? No? Then shut up.
The Soviet Army Monument in Sofia is the most impressive of the many memorials located throughout Bulgaria. Disputes about its dismantling and relocation have been going on for a long time, but thanks to the resistance of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and its supporters, the dismantling work was constantly postponed. In March of this year, deputies of the Sofia City Council by a majority of votes supported the initiative of right-wing political associations to dismantle and relocate the monument to the Soviet Army.
Is that actual rightwing or to the right of Stalin, like the Nazis?

In turn, the acting director of the Russian Ministry of Defense department for perpetuating the memory of those who died defending the Fatherland, Andrei Taranov , clarified on December 5 that to date, over 3,000 monuments to Soviet liberating soldiers have been dismantled in Europe.
Europe, contrary to opinion popular in certain quarters, has never been part of the Russian Fatherland. Nor the Russian Motherland, either.
German troops never occupied Bulgaria. There were some (because of Greece), but they were not occupiers. Bulgaria was an ally.
When all German troops had left the country on the afternoon of 7 September 1944, Bulgaria declared war on Germany. Yet, earlier on the same day the Soviet Union declared war on Bulgaria, without consultation with either the USA or Britain, in order "to liberate Bulgaria".
History is complicated.

[RIA] The monthly summary of the Estonian Information System Authority (RIA) reveals that the services of the Health Insurance Fund were interrupted repeatedly due to technical reasons in November and district heating and water supply companies were targeted by a cyber attack.
The Incident Response Department of RIA (CERT-EE) registered 378 cyber incidents with an impact in November. The majority of the incidents, as usual, were phishing sites, with 233 detected and blocked....
On 30 November, the programmable logic controllers (PLCs) of at least three Estonian companies were hit by cyber attacks. One of the attacks involved a district heating company and resulted in an interruption in the functioning of the control devices of eight boiler plants. The affected boiler plants were switched to manual control and the heat generation process was never at risk.
The other attack hit a water supply company of a rural municipality and resulted in a stoppage of the control devices of nine waste water pump stations and one potable water pump station, but the pump stations continued to operate. A third similar attack was targeted against a manufacturer of construction materials.
CERT-EE detected several dozen similar controllers accessible via the Internet in Estonia. The owners of the controllers or the service providers were notified of the wave of attacks and advised on how to protect themselves.
