[BLAZE] The scene is from Netflix's apocalyptic film "Leave the World Behind," which the Obamas co-produced through their Higher Ground company — an outfit that focuses on projects about race, class, democracy, and civil rights, Newsweek said.
The movie shows a mixed-race daughter telling her black father, "I'm asking you to remember that if the world falls apart, trust should not be doled out easily to anyone, especially white people — even mom would agree with me on that."
The deal is that a cyberattack has driven the world into chaos. A white family is renting a home on Long Island — and the father and daughter from the above scene show up to the house after a power outage in New York City, tell the white family they're the owners of the home they're renting, and ask if they can work out a deal to take refuge in the house as well.
The social commentary aspect is that Julia Roberts — who plays the wife and mother of the renters — comes across as racist for seeming surprised that black people could own such a stunning home.
It's not as though the Obamas weren't aware of the racism element or the scene in which the daughter tells her father that white people shouldn't be trusted too easily. In fact, Barack Obama gave notes to director Sam Esmail on his adapted screenplay, according to Vanity Fair.

Insert the Monty Python skit "What have the Romans ever given us". It's amazing how people who basically denounce Western Civilization seem to not want to leave it.

For man 5/8's WHITE, he sure is playing the 3/8's hard.
"Is he descended from slaves in the United States?" The answer is "No." No ancestry either, as his dad was of Kenyan and Arab blood, and NOT Western Africa (slave trade) descent.
[NYP] Harvard University covered up a high-level investigation into whether its controversial president was a plagiarist — and used an expensive law firm to threaten The Post over our own probe.
The college announced Tuesday morning that it had investigated Claudine Gay over whether some of her academic work was plagiarized and had cleared her of breaching the college’s "standards for research misconduct."
Instead, it said that she would request four corrections in two publications to insert citations and quotation marks that were originally "omitted."
But The Post can disclose that Harvard spent weeks failing to come clean about Gay being under investigation — staying quiet even when she was hauled in front of Congress for disastrous testimony on how the Ivy League college is dealing with antisemitism on campus.
Harvard only disclosed the investigation when the university’s governing body, Harvard Corporation, said it unanimously stood behind her despite a firestorm of criticism for her evidence to Congress.
Harvard’s public statement on the allegations of plagiarism came a day after a conservative activist posted questions on X about citations in Gay’s 1997 PhD dissertation.

Seems like anyone who was disciplined for plagiarism at Harvard will be making bank. Talk about deep pockets. This could make the Oberlin College payout look like walking around money.

I don't think announcing you know plagiarism when you see it is a good look, Anne...

This seems screwy that this would come to light now. Did her whacked testimony before Congress cause everyone to curiously read her pepper? This seems to have been locked and loaded.

Claudine is safe. (1) She is a woman. (2) She is black. (3) Harvard has a sense of pride and arrogance that is unmatched and will never admit they made a mistake.

"Inadequate citation", academic codswallop for "I got caught", but you haven't got the balls to fire me!
[Vigilant] "Former Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza is under investigation for homicide after emails reveal that from the very start of the vaccinations, he knew the shots were killing people and gave orders to local health authorities to conceal deaths and serious side effects in order to reassure Italian citizens of their safety and to not jeopardize the vaccination campaign," reported InfoWars contributor Greg Reese in viral X post shared by Alex Jones.
[IsraelTimes] German federal prosecutors say they charged 27 suspected members of a far-right "terror group" arrested last year with involvement in a plot to attack parliament and overthrow the government.
"The accused are strongly suspected of membership of a terrorist organization as well as preparation of a treasonous undertaking," prosecutors say in a statement on the so-called Reichsbuerger group (Citizens of the Reich).
Chief federal prosecutor Peter Frank says some members of the "terrorist organization" intended to use force to enter the German Bundestag (lower house of parliament) and that the group’s preparations were "already at an advanced stage."

Fedsurrection for all my friends. Did anyone really think that Jacob Chansley was going to start introducing legislation? This is just more stoned losers being used by Feds to justify measures against populist opposition.

[Federalist] Hunter Biden’s lawyers filed four separate motions to dismiss with the Delaware federal court Monday, asking the judge to toss the three felony gun charges brought by Special Counsel David Weiss following the collapse of the sweetheart plea deal gifted to the president’s son. While the Delaware case is distinct from the nine-count indictment charging tax offenses, which was recently returned by a California federal grand jury, Hunter Biden’s motion to dismiss based on the pretrial diversion agreement could well doom the California tax charges too. Here’s why.
In his motion to dismiss the three felony gun charges based on the pretrial diversion agreement, Hunter Biden argues that agreement contractually binds the government to the terms, as detailed in the agreement. According to Hunter’s lawyers, the pretrial diversion agreement was a wholly distinct contract from the plea agreement that fell apart when the president’s son appeared before federal Judge Maryellen Noreika in July of 2023 to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax offenses. Thus, Hunter posits in his Monday motion, the government is bound by the terms of the pretrial diversion agreement and specifically the government’s "agreement not to prosecute," even though he never pleaded guilty to the tax offenses.
The pretrial diversion agreement focused solely on Hunter Biden’s knowing possession of a firearm as an unlawful user or addict of a controlled substance, with the government committing not to prosecute the president’s son if he complied with the terms of the agreement for 24 months, which basically required Hunter Biden to remain sober and drug-free and not to purchase any firearms. But the government’s agreement not to prosecute extended much beyond any potential gun charges, including "any federal crimes encompassed" in two attachments, one a statement of facts related to the gun charges and a second a statement of facts concerning Hunter Biden’s business operations and tax offenses.
Thus, if the pretrial diversion agreement is valid and enforceable, as Hunter Biden argues, then not only will Weiss be barred from prosecuting the gun charges in Delaware, but the tax charges in California will also be off-limits to the government.
So will Judge Noreika hold that the pretrial diversion agreement is a valid and enforceable contract? That’s the $1 million question.

Weiss is making a name for himself. I wonder what they have offered him.
