#3  The only reason I care about Bud is that they sponsor Kenny Bernstein. I'd rather drink dog piss. But if they start f**kin' with my Miller's there'll be hell to pay.

#5  We would never sell Budweiser. Why, it's as American as apple pie and a cornerstone of our civilization. And the Busch family has owned it for generations and generations and....wait, how much did you say?

Well, it's just carbonated malt pop, anyway. Personally, I drink Tuckerman's Headwall.

Porn appears on rugby programme
New Zealand rugby fans watching a regular sports programme found themselves viewing hardcore pornography instead on Sunday afternoon. Four minutes of pornography interrupted sports coverage on the Prime Television channel, after what a spokesman described as a distribution mix up.

The pornographic footage was meant for an adult pay-per-view channel. Instead, it found its way onto a regular free-to-air programme called Grassroots Rugby.

Rival television channels reported that some viewers were angry about the broadcast, which may have been seen by children.

‘Jaws’-size fear sweeps Vineyard

And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like Nancy Pelosi eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'...
A Marthas Vineyard harbor master raised the alarming prospect of “Jaws returning” after a large shark was spotted cutting through the waves just 70 yards off South Beach yesterday. An eagle-eyed lifeguard spotted the menacing fin off the Edgartown strand and ordered everyone out of the water yesterday morning, moments before a sightseeing plane overhead spotted the monster gliding just below the surface.
But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, the beaches are open and people are having a wonderful time. Edgartown Amity, as you know, means "friendship" "town of Edgar".
This is a large shark,” said Edgartown Harbor Master Charles Blair. “We dont know the species. It was a pretty big fin spotted about 70 yards from the beach. Its close enough for me. We got like Jaws returning over here.” Blair spent hours yesterday in a fruitless hunt for the toothsome sea beast. But it managed to elude any further sightings, including an all-out aerial hunt waged by the state, which paid a pilot to search waters off the beach for two hours after the initial sightings.
Mr. Vaughn, what we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks, and that's all.
Blair said there were a total of three possible shark sightings yesterday, but no one could determine the species of shark spotted and whether it was the much-feared great white of “Jaws” movie fame.“I got a feeling we gotta be vigilant,” Blair said. “The same goes for our sister island, Nantucket. If you see them, you just try to see what direction theyre swimming.”
I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down to the pond and chasing bluegills and tommycocks. This shark, swallow you whole. No shakin', no tenderizin', down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.
Blair said none of the beaches were closed, but shark warnings have been posted at both South Beach and Sylvia Beach.
Larry, the summer is over. You're the mayor of "shark city". These people think you want the beaches open.
Department of Conservation and Recreation spokeswoman Wendy Fox said the state cannot shut down the beaches, since it is public land that stretches for miles.“We cant tell people they can't swim there,” she said. “But we can recommend against it.”
I'd tell 'em, "Sure, go ahead and swim. Lemme get my camera first."
Blair said yesterdays shark sighting comes weeks after island fishermen reported seeing a rare great white breach - when the antediluvian horror burst through the waters surface.
Now this guy knows how to write a shark story...
The uptick in shark sightings not surprisingly coincides with a seal population explosion, Blair said. The cute, playful animals are actually harbingers of doom for casual swimmers, drawing predatory sharks from thousands of miles in search of their favorite meal.
Harbingers of doom, I tells ya!!!
“Vigilance is the word,” Blair said about any threat the menace of movie fame may pose to humans.
My wife's going down this weekend. Told her no getting drunk and takin a midnight swim. And be vigilant...

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Is Pollution Slowing Global Warming?

Wait, now pollution is preventing global warming? That’s the conclusion of a recent study in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, which says rising temperatures seen in Europe over the last few years result as much from the reduction of air pollution as from the creation of it. The research, which looked at the effects of aerosols on climate, confirms an older concept known as global dimming, and complicates our understanding of how mankind affects the climate.

According to the study, temperatures in Europe have risen over the past 28 years far faster than could be explained by the greenhouse effect alone. After looking at the aerosol concentrations in the atmosphere in six spots, the authors of the paper realized the temperature rise was assisted by more sunlight penetrating the newly pollution free skies. It seems that the stricter pollution standards, adopted in part to slow global warming, may have sped it up.

The idea that pollution may be reflecting some of the sun’s energy is not new. The term global dimming is decades old, and some believed that the reduction in pollution was the cause global warming. But now, with the link between greenhouse gas pollution and global warming firmly established, papers like this one highlight how complex the situation is, and how solutions like simply cutting air pollution may have a range of unintended and counterintuitive consequences.

#6  FYI, Rantburgers. Global ice coverage is currently 1.5 million km**2 more than last year at this time. We are about 600K km**2 ahead in the Northern Hemisphere.

Bogus news story out on Wilkins ice shelf. Story is that GW is leading to breakdown of ice shelf. Fact: Antarctic ice is further north, and the SH is at about 800 km**2 above the 30 year mean. Last winter set a record for coverage and 2009 will likely break that record.

Doomed to a fatal delusion over climate change
PSYCHIATRISTS have detected the first case of "climate change delusion". Writing in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry, Joshua Wolf and Robert Salo of our Royal Children's Hospital say this delusion was a "previously unreported phenomenon. A 17-year-old man was referred to the inpatient psychiatric unit at Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne with an eight-month history of depressed mood . . . He also . . . had visions of apocalyptic events."
I saw that movie. I think Christopher Walken wuz in it...
(So have Alarmist of the Year Tim Flannery, Profit of Doom Al Gore and Sir Richard Brazen, but I digress.)

"The patient had also developed the belief that, due to climate change, his own water consumption could lead within days to the deaths of millions of people through exhaustion of water supplies."
Well...doesn't he have a high opinion of himself...

#1  Not really. The series of decades ago Earth-visible solar explosions and related known as the SIRIUS EVENT/EFFECT did take place - THE PROB IS THE SUM OF WRITTEN/RECORDED HUMAN HISTORY IS ONLY APPROXI 5000 YEARS OLD AND COUNTING ACCORDING TO PERTS, minutae Time in the known andor estimated Human-Geologic Timeline since the "Big Bang" [Ice Ages, Great Extinction Epochs, etc.].

IOW, US-WORLD PERTS ARE UNCERTAIN WHAT THE SIRIUS PHENOMENA MEANS IN RELATION TO HUMANITY'S EXISTENCE = LT SURVIVAL, AS MODERN ACADEMIA = MODERN EMPIRICAL METHODS WEREN'T AROUND AT THE TIME OF PAST EVENTS OR GEOLOGIC PHASES, ETC.

"Tis why most modern "THEORIES" OF SCIENCE(S) ARE STILL ONLY THEORIES, OR LESSOR HYPOTHESAE, NOT "LAWS" OF SCIENCE(S).
