Fighting The 'Psyopcracy'
[ZeroHedge] Cathy Vogan, the executive producer of Consortium News’ webcast CN Live!, recently coined a new term to describe rule by psyops, or psychological operations: psyopcracy. According to Wikipedia:

"Psychological operations (PSYOP) are operations to convey selected information and indicators to audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of governments, organizations, groups, and individuals.

The purpose of United States psychological operations is to induce or reinforce behavior perceived to be favorable to U.S. objectives."

William Casey, C.I.A. director under Ronald Reagan, said: "We’ll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false."

Thus the American people are continuously subject to a number of psychological operations otherwise known as "the news."

U.S. intelligence officials feed journalists disinformation to create a false narrative that is intended to mislead the public and cover-up what is actually taking place. The constant reinforcement of these lies becomes entrenched in the public mind and after time comes to be accepted as unquestionable truth.

Here’s an explanation of how the C.I.A. did it in Vietnam:

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Why Do We Eat Black-Eyed Peas on New Year's Day?
[G&G] On New Year’s Day, millions of people will dutifully eat some amount of black-eyed peas with the hope that it will lead to prosperity throughout next year. This superstition has its strongest hold on people with some connection to the South, whether by birth, bloodlines, or current residency. For people who don’t fall into one of those categories, and even for many who do, the tradition is a bit of a head-scratcher. I know that I’m supposed to do it, but I’m not sure why. I’m here to provide answers, and those answers come from a layered culinary and cultural mashup of West Africa and Western Europe. Let’s break this culinary tradition down into its key ingredients.

Why on the First Day of January?

First of all, we can thank the Romans, specifically Julius Caesar, that our calendar begins in January. The Roman annual calendar used to begin in March, in honor of Mars, the god of war. Doing what dictators do, Caesar switched things up in 46 B.C.E and started the year in January. Not everyone was on board at first, and many European countries operated with different calendars until Pope Gregory XIII modified the Julian calendar in 1582.

Europeans fully embraced the idea that doing something, or having something happen, on the first day of the year would have year-long consequences. For our purposes, the most relevant example is Scotland’s "first footer," or "first foot," tradition. The Scots believed that on New Year’s Day, you’ll have good luck all year long if the first visitor you get, i.e. the "first foot" in your home, is a dark-haired or dark-complexioned man. Change anything up, like the hair color or the gender, and that’s bad luck, y’all. Sometimes that visitor brought gifts to enhance the prospect of prosperity in the new year, which could include food. Scots, one of the largest white ethnic immigrant groups to British North America, brought the first foot superstition with them to the South.

Thousands Of Spirit Airlines Passengers Disappointed Their Flights Weren't Canceled
[Bee] A harsh winter storm has swept the nation, disrupting travel plans, canceling flights, and leaving thousands disappointed and stranded at the airport. Passengers for Spirit Airlines on the other hand were disappointed to learn that their flights had not been canceled and were moving along as scheduled.

"Ahhhhh! You've got to be kidding me! Our Spirit Airlines flight has not been canceled or even delayed. Our plane has arrived on schedule!" complained Derick Johnson to his family. "Well, this is just great. Instead of being safely stuck in the airport for days like all these other folks, we have to actually board that thing and fly 1,000s of feet up the air!"

According to sources, once passengers boarded Spirit Airlines many asked the flight attendants several questions before takeoff. "Are you sure the inspection came back alright? Can we check it again? Is the pilot starting to feel ill? Are you sure we don't need to delay this thing another hour or 5?" said, multiple concerned passengers. "No really we don't mind, it's not too late to cancel this thing altogether."

At publishing time, people flying Southwest who had been stranded at the airport for days were told that there were finally dozens of flights available for departure, but unfortunately, they were all through Spirit Airlines.

Afghanistan
Pakistan faces disappointment on bilateral deals with the new regime in Afghanistan
[KhaamaPress] Recent events on the Afghanistan-Pakistain border make it clear that Pakistain’s decades old Afghanistan policy has failed. On 11 December 2022, Taliban
...Arabic for students...
forces in Afghanistan shelled a town just across the border in Pakistain, killing seven Pak civilians. Pakistain retaliated, killing one Taliban fighter and injuring ten Afghans. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the "unprovoked shelling" by Afghan forces. On 15 December, the two sides exchanged artillery fire across the border, killing at least one Pak civilian and wounding 15 others. Both countries are today on the verge of war! These developments signal a turn in ties between Pakistain and Afghanistan and signals Pakistain’s loss of control over the Afghan Taliban, which is today a government in power.
"On the verge of war!"? Oh no! Anyway....
While the world’s attention is on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, violence in the border region between Pakistain and Afghanistan has gone unnoticed, even though the potential for a serious catastrophe persists and grows by the day. Pakistain summoned an Afghan diplomat over "unprovoked" artillery fire at their border. "Afghan Chargé d’Affaires in Islamabad was called to the foreign ministry and Pakistain’s strong condemnation was conveyed over recent incidents of unprovoked cross-border shelling resulting in a loss of life, injuries and damage to property," the Pak Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement, as Aljazeera quoted. The shootout

Government Corruption
The End of Free Elections?
[American Thinker] This week, leftists and RINOs admitted, under oath, that they changed the print settings, on election morning, so Republican votes would not be tabulated, on the one day most Republicans vote -- and the Maricopa County judge said "...it wasn’t intentional."

A Republican governor candidate who easily won by multiple points was denied her rightful election. Several million Arizona voters were disenfranchised.

Not a word from Republican leaders!

Wake up, America.

Leftists and RINOs have spent the last 40 years transforming election machinery to end your right to vote -- and they are about to finish the job.

This week, the governor of Minnesota took the lead by planning to register, automatically, teenagers not old enough to vote. On election day, there will be tens of thousands of names, with little history, who can be voted by election commissions when needed.

Democrats are proposing laws making it a felony to question an election. Of course they are!

Breitbart, Fox News, and about every other mainstream controlled opposition are cowed into submission.

Election commissions regularly add to election rolls, automatically, every person using any state service — even if that person has not requested to be an elector. Your illegal migrant, getting welfare or a driver’s license can be automatically added to the state rolls. What could go wrong?

While this is happening, hapless Republicans claim to have found the secret to election victory -- get better at ballot harvesting or gathering.

This is the Republican Party that should provide pushback against industrial-scale, sovereign voter fraud. Unfortunately, they see the problem of floating ballots; they do not see, or do not choose to see, the problem of ever-expanding voter rolls with people who never chose to vote.

Working with Mike Lindell, we currently run the voter rolls for a dozen states and have the data for several more. In every case, the number of "voter registration anomalies" is from 5% to 18% of the voter roll.

A voter anomaly?

Registering voters that have not expressed an intention of voting is a problem especially in states where absentee ballots are distributed to all via the tee shirt cannon that is the USPS.

Farming out voter role maintenance to an NGO of any sort but especially to ERIC is an abdication that we should not accept.

Western Mainstream Media and the Ukraine Crisis: A Study in Conflict Propaganda
[Routledge] 2017 book about the 2014 CIA coup to smash the state for free markets.

Western Mainstream Media and the Ukraine Crisis
A Study in Conflict Propaganda
By Oliver Boyd-Barrett
Copyright Year 2017

This book explores contemporary propaganda and mainstream Western news media, with reference to the Ukraine crisis.

It examines Western media narratives of the immediate causes of the crisis, the respective roles of those who participated in or otherwise supported the demonstrations of 2013—2014 — including US-backed NGOs and rightist militia — and the legitimacy, or otherwise, of the destabilization of the democratically elected Yanukovych government. It considers how the crisis was contextualized with reference to broader themes of competition for power over Eurasia and the Washington Consensus. It assesses accounts of the role of Russia and of ethnic Russian Ukrainians in Crimea, Odessa and the Donbass and traces how Western mainstream media went out of their way to demonize Vladimir Putin. The book deconstructs prevailing Western narratives as to the reasons for the shooting down of Malaysian Airways flight MH17 in July 2014, and counters Western media concentration on the issue of culpability for the attack with an alternative narrative of egregious failure to close down civilian air space over war zones. From analysis of these discourses, the book identifies principles of post-2001 Western conflict propaganda as these appeared to play out in Ukraine.

This book will be of much interest to students of propaganda, media and communication studies, Russian and Eastern European politics, security studies and IR.

Oliver Boyd-Barrett was formerly Director of the School of Media and Communications at Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA, and now lectures at California State University. He is author of several books, including Hollywood and the CIA: Cinema, Defense and Subversion (Routledge 2011).

5 Real Things More Appalling Than George Santos' Fake Resume
[Federalist] few nerds (sometimes referred to as "journalists") were on standby over the past few days, waiting for New York Republican Representative-elect George Santos to explain why there was no evidence of the sterling educational background and work history that he professed to have during his 2022 campaign for Congress. The predictable and underwhelming answer is that he lied about it and no, he doesn’t plan to resign.

Where is there a person in America who still cares about the personal biographies of the people they elect? None of it — literally none of it — matters. Being a U.S. veteran doesn’t necessarily indicate that a person is smart or good. If it did, Democrat Army vet Rep. Bobby Rush would be a role model for children rather than a race hustler who funneled tens of thousands of dollars in campaign funds to his criminal son. (It was for "field" work.)

In any event, what Santos lied about — that he went to an exclusive college and worked in Wall Street financing — is nothing compared to some of the true things that have happened in Congress lately. Here are five of them:
1. The Speaker of the House, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, told everyone to indefinitely lock themselves in their homes with a mask strapped to their faces. Then she paid a visit to a hair salon for a private primping while wearing no mask, a violation of San Francisco ordinances requiring that such businesses be closed to the public and that residents wear a mask when outside the home. When her illegal jaunt to the salon was found out, she made up a story about it being a "setup" intended to embarrass her.

2. Far-left Sen. Bernie Sanders, who came very close to becoming the Democrat Party’s presidential nominee, declared America to be "a racist society from top to bottom." A sitting senator can condemn the entire country and its people to hell as hateful, prejudiced bigots, and be applauded for it. But an incoming House member is expected to resign because he lied about going to college. Hilarious.

3. Cori Bush, Democrat of Missouri and all-around waste of a human, can barely string a sentence together but advocates for the abolition of police departments. When the congresswoman was asked to answer why she retains private security while demanding that others give up their right to safety, this was her full answer: "I have private security because my body is worth being on this planet right now. I have private security because they, the white supremacist, racist narrative that they drive into this country — the fact that they don’t care that this black woman that has put her life on the line — they can’t match my energy, first of all. This black woman who puts her life on the line. They don’t care that I could be taken out of here. They actually are probably okay with that. But this is the thing, I won’t let them get that off. You can’t get that off." If anyone should be asked to resign, it’s the illiterate Cori Bush.

4. To this day, there exists a leading Democrat who said that some minorities have no claim to their ethnicities if they have a different opinion than hers. "We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice," Rep. Ayanna Pressley said at a conference in 2019. "We don’t need any more black faces that don’t want to be a black voice." That’s an accepted, mainstream view within the Democrat Party. Indeed, within Congress itself. (But aren’t you bothered that George Santos never really worked at Goldman Sachs?!)

5. Rosa DeLauro, who looks like a homeless transvestite, on purpose, walks the halls of Congress with confidence as an elected representative.
It doesn’t matter if George Santos is the lowliest of low-lifes. And the people who elected and warmly welcomed to the Senate John Fetterman, a man who received an allowance from his parents through his 40s, certainly don’t get to act like it does.

AI Chat: Coming for a Brain Near You. Possibly Yours.
[PJ] It is the end of the year, and as much as 2022 has stunk to high heaven, 2023 may not be much better. Of course, there is always the possibility that the Russia/Ukraine conflict will go nuclear, in which case we’re done. But if we somehow manage to continue as a species, will we be worth anything in another 50 years? Maybe not.

PR Newswire had a press release from Jasper, the developer of a Chrome browser extension for an AI writing program:

Jasper makes generative artificial intelligence accessible to businesses and individual creators alike, enabling them to break through writer’s block, create original art, and repackage content for format, language, and tone. The reach and use cases of Jasper are wide and span from individual creatives to large teams at content forward companies. Jasper has been used to help enterprises scale their content strategies, write and illustrate children’s books, help non-native speakers communicate their ideas more effectively, and enable people to develop daily writing habits.

Jasper’s new browser extension, released for Chrome, enables users to take generative AI with them across the full range of websites and content platforms they use. With the extension, content creators who find themselves stuck can call up Jasper with a single click or keystroke and get contextual recommendations for original content whenever writer’s block strikes. The extension can be found at Jasper.ai and works across Google Docs, Gmail, Notion, HubSpot, Shopify, social media platforms, content management systems and many more content destinations.

In an article on Campus Reform, University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business professor Ethan Mollick was quoted as saying that "AI has basically ruined homework." Furthermore, because AI essentially learns as it goes, it will make plagiarism a thing of the past. The content will be generated, not stolen.

Mike Sharples, Emeritus Professor of Educational Technology at The Open University in the UK, wrote in an essay, "Students will employ AI to write assignments. Teachers will use AI to assess them. Nobody learns, nobody gains. If ever there were a time to rethink assessment, it’s now. Instead of educators trying to outwit AI Transformers, let’s harness them for learning."

Sure, right now it is being touted as a helpful tool, just in case you find yourself in a rut. And AI will relieve students of the burden of researching and writing essays or term papers, and give them more time to do important things, like play online games, and dance and pose on Instagram and TikTok. Which ultimately is not freedom at all. And it has the potential to relieve them of the ability or even the right to think. What the advent of AI could mean to many is that they are now superfluous. Students may not learn anything about the subject at hand, but will they need to learn anything? People will no longer be required to be creative and innovative because there will be no need for them to be either. There may not be much need for people.

During the Space Race in 1962 President John F. Kennedy gave this speech:
