Texas National Guard Builds 2 Miles of Razor Wire Border Fencing near El Paso
[Breitbart] While most families across the country celebrated the extended Christmas holiday weekend, members of the Texas National Guard built more than two miles of razor-wire border fencing near El Paso. Texas Governor Greg Abbott deployed the Guardsmen under Operation Lone Star to build the barriers after the City of El Paso declared a disaster as migrants surged across the border.

The Texas Military Department tweeted a video on Christmas Day showing the National Guard building a triple-strand concertina barrier “to secure the area from illegal crossings.”

Major General Ronald “Win” Burkett described the 72-hour mission for the Guardsmen.

“They’re focused on deterrence, they’re focused on sending a message that unlawful crossings is not an option,” General Burkett stated. “You’ve got to go to the POE (Port of Entry).”

The general described the logistics of the operation with the Texas Air National Guard airlifting 400 soldiers and equipment to El Paso in four C-130 aircraft on Saturday morning.

The soldiers went to work at 4 a.m. to string the triple-level wire along the riverbank in El Paso. By Tuesday morning, the soldiers erected more than two miles of the barrier, CNN reported. Texas Military Department officials told the news outlet they will build more in the coming days.

During the past week, Border Patrol officials released nearly 6,000 migrants to NGO’s in El Paso or onto the city’s streets, according to the city’s Migrant Situational Awareness Dashboard. More than 10,000 were released the week before.

At the other end of the Texas border with Mexico, National Guard soldiers placed addition razor-wire border fending in strategic areas, Breitbart Texas reported.

In other locations along the border, the state expanded its use of shipping containers to extend border barriers.

Afghanistan
Humanitarian Aid for Afghanistan to be Suspended: Germany
[KhaamaPress] Following the ban on women working with NGOs, German non-profit organizations have joined the list of many other humanitarian organizations in suspending their operations in Afghanistan.

The German government is planning to suspend financial aid for Afghanistan after the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
banned women from working for NGOs in the country on December 24.

This is a big blow for Afghanistan’s de facto authorities as more and more aid organizations started suspending their work in response to the latest decree of the ruling regime baring women from working with private or international organizations.

"By banning the employment of female staff of non-governmental organizations, the Taliban in Afghanistan have struck an irresponsible blow against aid to the Afghan people," Development Minister Svenja Schulze said in a statement. "Without female employees, organizations cannot continue their work in many areas for half the population."

As a friendly partner of Afghanistan, Germany has long been helping the Afghan people across different areas be it education, life-saving support, humanitarian aid, relief work, training, and more under different regimes for decades. Millions of vulnerable people in different parts of the country benefit from the German-run aid programs.

According to the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany has long been the second largest donor, after the United States, contributing up to €430 million to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his leg. Son of a Breech! he exclaimed with feeling......
the economic and humanitarian in Afghanistan remains disastrous. According to the WHH, a German Aid Group, 28.3 million people in the country, over two-thirds of the population, are dependent on humanitarian aid. At least 20 million are threatened with starvation.

Considering the dire humanitarian situation, the people of Afghanistan are going through at the moment, losing the support of such major aid organizations is catastrophic.

Al-Shabaab has brought dishonor to Somalia and Islam, says IIhan Omar
[Garowe] Congresswoman Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She was apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
has once again lambasted the al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
bully boyz for bringing dishonor to Moslems and the people of Somalia given their cowardly attacks usually targeting innocent civilians and members of the security forces.

Ms. Omar, who has been touring the Horn of Africa, noted the progress made by the Somali National Army [SNA], the US Africa Command, and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] in the fight against al-Shabaab bad boys.

The Somali-born politician has already met President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and the cabinet. She has now embarked on the trip to Djibouti where she is set to meet a host of top government officials for engagement.

While noting the successes made against the bad boys, Ms. Omar also asked locals to collaborate with the government in defeating the group she accused of "dishonoring" Islam.

"Our country and our religion have been associated with terrorism [because] of the dishonor they brought on us," she said. "We have to get rid of them as Somalis and as Moslems and pray and support each other in that work."

With assistance from local militia, the government of Somalia has managed to flush out the bully boyz from strategic areas where they have been using to unleash attacks. Most of these towns are under full custody of Somalia security forces according to the government.

On Tuesday, it emerged that the bully boyz had now imposed restrictions on the largest telecommunication company Hormuud for unknown reasons. Brigadier General Abdullahi Ali Anod, the spokesperson of the Somali National Army confirmed the restrictions.

"We heard that we have received it," he said in an interview as reported by the Voice of America.

He said Hormuud has been repairing telecommunication centers, and masts and restoring services in newly recaptured territories. "They are on standby, wherever the army arrives," he said.

Al-Shabaab has been losing ground across the country due to multidisciplinary engagement which has been getting support across the world. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud insisted that most areas in Galmadug and HirShabelle states would be liberated by the end of this year.

Somalia: Southwest blames Mogadishu for chaos in Baidoa
[Garowe] A section of politicians from Southwest have insisted that the Baidoa chaos which took place last week was instigated by Villa Somalia, following heavy festivities between state security and militia who have been religiously supporting the opposition.

In what could trigger a political storm between the two levels of government, politicians from Southwest now say the National Army was been used to settle political scores in the state which has traditionally leaned towards the former administration of Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo.

While addressing the media, the state politicians demanded that the national troops be withdrawn and redirected to the fight against al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
murderous Moslems who are still present in several parts of the country. al-Shabaab still controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia.

Southwest, they said, has never extended the term of Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen but the politician only harmonized its lifespan together with that of the president in line with the law. They now blame the federal government for triggering political disharmony in the state.

Reports filed by the police indicate that over 10 people were killed in Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of Southwest following festivities on Friday which were triggered by security forces. Lafta-Gareen has been at loggerheads with various opposition leaders.

Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen is not a stranger to controversy given that in 2018, troops loyal to Farmajo flushed out the current Religious Affairs and Endowment Minister Mukhtar Robow, the former al-Shabaab deputy leader, who was running for the presidency in the region. The authorities went on to detain him without trial.

Southwest regional state has been struggling to contain both al-Shabaab and political intolerance which now risks ushering instability in the region. Abdiaziz Lafta-Gareen is likely to continue serving following the harmonization of his term.

Arabia
Southern Movement reveal plans to fight Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The so-called "Southern Movement" on Wednesday revealed arrangements to spark a civil war in southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
This coincides with Saudi threats to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Abdurahman al-Wali, head of what was known as the "Southern Parliament", said in a post on his official page on social media that "the south is being pushed against its will towards rupture and disintegration, and deepening tribal and regional alignment."

Al-Wali considered this alignment as a result of regional and international feeding in favor of external agendas, and not due to deep roots internally.

Al-Wali’s statements coincide with calls in Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province, which throughout history constituted turning points in the south’s path, for a wide tribal meeting aimed at expelling the STC, in parallel with a Saudi threat to spark a civil war in the south in response to the STC’s efforts to control the oil plateau of Hadhramaut.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Jordan’s King Abdullah warns of fresh Palestinian intifada, warns new Netanyahu govt not to cross red lines
[IsraelTimes] Jordanian King Abdullah II warns that there could be a new Paleostinian intifada, or uprising.

"We have to be concerned about the next intifada," Abdullah tells CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
in an excerpt from an interview with the channel.

"And if that happens that’s a complete breakdown of law and order and one that neither the Israelis nor Paleostinians will benefit from," he says.

The clip did not provide the context for the assessment, which comes after a year of spiraling violence in the West Bank and a day before the swearing-in of a hardline Israeli government.
The current excitements in Israel and the West Bank are being fairly well contained, it seems to me. But of course the Kingdom of Jordan needs to be concerned that their own non-Bedouin Arabs will be less easy for the Jordanian authorities to control.

King Abdullah warns incoming Israeli government not to cross Jordan’s ‘red lines’
The king doesn’t often go in front of the camera, so when he does he spouts the usual line of posturing nonsense.
[IsraelTimes] Jordan’s King Abdullah II warns the incoming Israeli government not to cross Jordan’s red lines with regard to Jerusalem’s holy sites.

In an interview with CNN, Abdullah is asked if he believes that the status quo in Jerusalem and Jordan’s role was threatened.

There is particular sensitivity around Israel’s ties with neighbor Jordan, which is a custodian of the Temple Mount, setting up a potential clash with hardline lawmakers from Netanyahu’s coalition like Otzmah Yehudit chair Itamar Ben Gvir who has pushed for Israel to assert its sovereignty over the Jerusalem holy site and allow Jewish worship at the site.

“You always have those people that will try and push that and that is a concern,” says Abdullah without mentioning names.

“If people want to get into a conflict with us, we are quite prepared. I always like to believe that let’s look at the glass half full, but we have set red lines and if people want to push those red lines then we will deal with that,” he says.

Abdullah notes that “there are a lot of people in Israel concerned as much as we are.”
Mostly Netanyahu-haters, reporters and other bien pensants, and various flavours of socialists — the latter an ever shrinking group.
Under their 1994 peace treaty, Israel recognizes Jordan as the custodian of the Temple Mount, which houses the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Temple Mount is the holiest place in Judaism and the site of the third holiest shrine in Islam.

Israel captured the Temple Mount and Jerusalem’s Old City from Jordan in the 1967 Six Day War. However, it allowed the Jordanian Waqf to continue to maintain religious authority atop the mount.

Small changes at the site or to that arrangement are liable to spark protests which could snowball beyond Jordan or the Palestinians to the wider Muslim world.

Ben Gvir and others in the Religious Zionism-Otzma Yehudit alliance have long pushed for changes to the status quo, under which only Muslims are allowed to worship within the compound while Jews may visit Judaism’s holiest site, but not pray there.

Gantz tells graduating pilots they could be flying to attack Iran in 2-3 years

Outgoing Defense Minister Benny Gantz told graduating air force pilots on Wednesday that they may participate in a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities in the coming years.

"Israel has significantly increased its preparedness in recent years and is preparing for the possibility of an attack on Iran," Gantz said at the Israeli Air Force’s Hatzerim Airbase in southern Israel, in what was set to be his final address as defense minister.

Geagea slams 'attempt to impose' president, urges 'real' head of state

leader Samir Geagea
...Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005...
has slammed what he described as an "attempt to impose a president" by the Hezbollah-led camp, as he stressed that the country needs a "real" head of state.

"What is happening today is not due to the might of the Axis of Defiance, but rather due to the weakness of those who should have shouldered their responsibilities and are still refusing to do so," Geagea said at an LF dinner.

"The Axis of Defiance has not been able to secure the election of the candidate it wants, and accordingly it is blocking the election. This honestly is not a democratic nor a political, honorable or a patriotic act. It is rather an extremely despicable act that undermines democracy, patriotism and Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
," the LF leader added.

"They are saying that they want a president who protect the back of the resistance, but do we need a president who would protect Hezbollah’s back or do we need him to protect the back of the Lebanese?" Geagea wondered.

Lamenting that the other camp wants a president who would "implement their schemes and join them in what they are doing," the LF leader decried a perceived attempt to "impose" such a president.

Addressing those saying that they don’t want a "provocative president," Geagea said: "What we’re demanding is not at all aimed at provocation; we’re rather seeking a real president who would be at the same distance from everyone."

"His only concern should be the implementation of the constitution and restoring the state’s decision," Geagea stressed.
