'Being nice is not working!' Fed-up Denver business leaders slam Dem-run city for forcing them to shell out MILLIONS a year on security to protect their businesses, as homelessness and crime soars in Mile-High City
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Walter Isenberg, who owns properties across downtown Denver, spends $3million per year on private security to patrol his storefronts

  • Multiple property owners have reported losing tenants who are tired of going to work in fear of being harmed by drug-using homeless people and criminals

  • In the past two years crime in Denver has soared, with car break-ins doubling from 2020 to 2022, car theft tripling, assaults spiking 30 percent

#10  The crime waves and massive media coverage are precursors for the Puppet Show/Demokrat response, some form of national police force. Dressed up however they can focus-group it to seem as a fix, it will end up within DHS/DOJ/FBI control and edge out local control of policing over time. As that happens, the 2A is erased for all intents and purposes.
Like digital currency, the ulterior motive in the end is always power and control for the ruling class of the state.

Florida stripper arrested for throwing wad of money at man
[NYPOST] A disgruntled Florida stripper was arrested last month after she allegedly hurled a "large amount of rolled-up money" at her co-worker’s head.

Tierah Miller, 29, and her accuser, a 34-year-old man whom she had previously dated for six months, both work at the Baby Dolls strip club in Clearwater, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Smoking Gun.

The alleged cash attack happened inside the club at 11:55 a.m. Feb. 26 — a week after the couple had called it quits, the complaint said.

When the man "attempted to walk across the stage to speak to another co-worker," Miller purportedly hurled a "large" wad of cash at him, striking him in the back of the head, the report stated.

Miller was slapped with a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, according to the complaint — which noted that she appeared to be sober and the attack did not draw blood.

Terrifying moment United passenger threatens mass-murder, before trying to stab flight attendant in neck with broken spoon and attempting to open emergency exit in mid-air
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • Video footage sees Francisco Severo Torres, 33, terrifying fellow passengers on a flight from LA to Boston before threatening to kill everyone on board

  • He was charged with interference with flight crew members and using a dangerous weapon

  • A flight attendant claimed to have seen Torres fiddling with an emergency exit door before he stood up and ranted at terrified passengers

  • When confronted by an attendant, he attempted to attack them with a broken metal spoon but was restrained by the crew and other passengers
He was restrained by other passengers who rush forward from the rear of the plane along with other flight attendants.
A pack, not a herd.
A photo taken by another person on board shows six people in the galley of the plane attempting to restrain Torres as the aircraft descended.

'Torres told investigators he went into the bathroom on the plane and broke a spoon in half to make a weapon. When he came out of the bathroom Torres went into the galley, disarmed the door, and tried to open it unsuccessfully … Torres admitted to knowing that if he opened the door many people would die,' according to a criminal complaint as seen by WCVB.

United praised the quick-thinking of the crew and passengers.

'Thanks to the quick action of our crew and customers, one customer was restrained after becoming a security concern on a flight from Los Angeles to Boston,' United said in a statement.

'The flight landed safely and was met by law enforcement. No serious injuries were reported.'

The airline said that Torres was immediately banned from flying on their flights.

'We have zero tolerance for any type of violence on our flights, and this customer will be banned from flying on United pending an investigation. We are cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.'

One passenger told investigators that Torres had asked where on the safety card it showed where the door handle was located during the flight attendants' pre-takeoff safety briefing.

Another said Torres was seen pacing the plane before attacking the attendant.

The charge of interference and attempted interference with flight crew members and attendants using a dangerous weapon provides for a sentence of up to life in prison, up to five years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
MSN suggests that he is mentally unstable:
Torres is being held at the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island, where sources told ABC News that he tried to attack two guards. Torres is being detained pending a bail hearing expected on Thursday.

He has a history of outbursts and bizarre behavior, including a 2017 case in which Torres was accused of assaulting a family member while attempting to take a pair of car keys. Included in the associated case file was a rambling letter addressed to a Massachusetts judge in which Torres wrote about being watched and being the subject of false reports, time he spent on the streets of Los Angeles, his artwork and fear that a doctor was bribed to interfere with his wellbeing. The letter concluded with the accusation that a large part of his community "is keeping a secret."

"How do I get a restraining order against thousands of people?" the letter concluded. A handwritten comment pointing to that final question indicates it was a "rhetorical question."

Federal Judge Sides with Biden Admin, Ruling Missouri 2A Law ‘Unconstitutional'
[Epoch Times] A Missouri law that would have penalized police for enforcing federal gun laws was ruled unconstitutional by a federal judge Tuesday, handing a win to the Biden administration Department of Justice that filed suit against the law last year.

The DOJ alleged the law was undermining federal drug and weapons investigators by placing heavy fines of up to $50,000 on police departments if they "infringed" on Missourians’ Second Amendment rights by following any federal laws.
Infringe away!
The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) was ruled "invalid, null, void and of no effect" by U.S. District Court Judge Brian Wimes, an Obama appointee.

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a statement on social media he plans to appeal the court’s ruling at the Eighth Circuit Court and expects a "better result" there.

#2  Even the lefty judges HAVE to smack it down or every sanctuary city for illegals is in big trouble.
Posted by: Silentbrick || 03/08/2023 12:00 Comments || Top||

#3  If I read it correctly, this ruling does present a thorny issue, namely the supremacy clause. It becomes tortuous in this case since the Missouri law essentially permits disobedience to federal law when that law restricts the constitutional rights of the Second Amendment. So the crux seems to be dealing with local interpretation of a federal statute as being unconstitutional before it is adjudicated by the federal appeal process. Arguments on both sides carry weight, particularly if one believes the federal DoJ, federal judiciary et al have their thumb on the scale to subvert constitutional rights.

Trump Jr. Calls for ‘Hardcore' Anti-China Rules for All Social Platforms
[Breitbart] Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday called for anti-China regulations for all social platforms to ensure that Americans’ private data does not end up in the hands of the Chinese government.

Trump Jr. said in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News that any solution seeking to address privacy concerns surrounding TikTok should also "address national security issues with all of these social media companies who let their data flow through China."

"Data security and privacy laws in the U.S. aren’t cutting it right now," Trump Jr. continued. "I’m all for addressing those issues with TikTok, but we’ve also got to look at some of these other companies who are very happy to let TikTok be the punching bag to keep themselves out of the line of fire. So members of Congress need to broaden the way they’re looking at this stuff if we’re going to really solve the problem."

"While we’re going hardcore on TikTok regulations, how about NO American data flowing through China for ANY social media company?! No letting Facebook, IG, Twitter or anyone else off the hook for data security and privacy in whatever ends up happening," Trump Jr. wrote.

Georgia passes IHRA bill defining antisemitism, anti-Jewish hate crime
[Jerusalem Post] A bill officially defining antisemitism, which can be used by authorities when identifying anti-Jewish hate crime, was passed in the US state of Georgia’s General Assembly on Tuesday.

House Bill (HB) 30 passed 136-22 with bipartisan support. Democrat Esther Panitch, the only Jewish American representative in the state house, submitted and presented the bill with the support of several other members including Republicans like John Carson.
Cynthia "Crazeee eyes" McKinney hardest hit
Panitch noted on Monday that the bill was assessed by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution of having a 26% chance of passing. The Jewish representative said that she would "channel my inner Queen Esther and beat the odds," in honor of Purim.

"Hate has no place in Georgia," said the Georgia House Republicans. "The House stands in solidarity with our state’s Jewish community."

ANTISEMITISM: A PERVASIVE PROBLEM IN AMERICAN SOCIETY
The law contends that antisemitism is a pervasive problem in American society that needs to be addressed, with data showing that Jews are often the religious group most targeted by hate crime. Consequently, Georgia has a responsibility to protect Jewish citizens.

Fighting in Las Anod in northern Somalia leaves over 200 people dead
[Garowe] Over 200 people mainly innocent civilians have been killed in the troubled town of Las Anod city, a senior director of the hospital handling cases has said, noting that hundreds have been maimed in the process, bringing about congestion in local health facilities.

The intense fighting between Somaliland security forces and SSC-Khatumo forces was triggered by the urge by locals to be administered from Mogadishu instead of Hargeisa. Somaliland claimed self-independence from Somalia in 1991 and has been controlling the Sool region of Somaliland.

There have been calls for a ceasefire by the international community but both sides are yet to agree on the process. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud asked the rival parties to embrace dialogue while insisting that Somaliland is part of Somalia.

Dr. Ismail Mohamoud, director of Gargaar Hospital in Las Anod, said the number of maimed patients is close to 1,000, while more than 200 people have been killed in the fighting. Most of the victims are civilians, he added.

The director noted that the situation has substantially deteriorated due to "unnecessary" shelling of the hospital, noting that a number of buildings hosting critical departments have been destroyed, triggering a possible humanitarian conflict in the town.

About 1,000 people have been injured on the battlefield according to the director, noting that the numbers could rise if an urgent solution is not made. Somaliland has insisted that the military will continue staying in the outskirts of Las Anod until law and order are restored.

Economy
Used-Car Prices Reaccelerate With Biggest February Gain Since 2009
[ZERO] The decline in wholesale used-car prices appears temporary as the spring market shifts into gear amid supply woes.

Cox Automotive reported that its Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index (MUVVI), which tracks the auction prices of used cars, increased 4.3% in February from January, the largest increase for the full month of February since 2009's 4.4% rise.

Used-car prices peaked around April 2022 and have been trending slightly lower. But the latest year-over-year change in the data shows a slowing decline and monthly reacceleration in prices -- all of this is a troubling sign for the Federal Reserve as January's economic data was hotter than expected.

Federal Reserve: Rates to Increase Some More
[FinanceYahoo] Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell told lawmakers on Tuesday interest rates are likely to rise more than previously expected as the central bank works to bring down inflation, which remains stubbornly above the central bank's 2% target.

.... Powell told the Senate Banking Committee in prepared remarks. "If the totality of the data were to indicate that faster tightening is warranted, we would be prepared to increase the pace of rate hikes."

"Although inflation has been moderating in recent months, the process of getting inflation back down to 2 percent has a long way to go and is likely to be bumpy," Powell added.
the word 'bumpy' may mean the next raise will be 50 basis points

#2  The Fed is theoretically independent. If they really were, they could announce that for every new spending by Congress that they'd raise interest rates a half a point. That would be 'interesting'.

#3  Three January inflation numbers--CPI, PPI, and PCE deflator--were all nasty surprises. This is no time to let up.

The Fed has actually been pretty tight on money supply in the last year. But they have yet to make a meaningful dent in the $3 trillion they threw into the economy in 2020. It's still there, sloshing around and pumping up prices.

Europe
Demonstrators set to paralyse France in massive pension reform protests
Strikes and protests are as much the national culture as drinking wine and eating cheese.
[France24] Unions have vowed to bring the country to a standstill over the proposed changes, which include raising the retirement age from 62 to 64 and increasing the number of years workers have to make contributions for a full pension.

"I call on all the country’s employees, citizens and retirees who are against the pensions reform to come out and protest en masse," the head of the CFDT union Laurent Berger told the France Inter radio station Monday.

"The president cannot remain deaf" to the protests, he added.

"There is today a huge social movement... and it will need a political response."

Earthquake impact on Turkish economy larger than expected – UN
[NPASyria] According to Rooters, the UN Development Programme announced today on Tuesday that the damage to the economy caused by the February 6 earthquakes would likely exceed $100 billion.

Previous calculations by the World Bank put the damage at around $34.2 billion. Either figures would likely have a major impact on the Ottoman Turkish economy and its people, who are already experiencing a dramatic currency devaluation.

More than 52.000 people were killed and millions were left homeless by the February 6 earthquake in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
. The economic fallout will impact this population particularly hard.

Previously, the World Bank estimated that the damage in Syria lay at around $5.1 billion. However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
much of Syria’s northwest already lay in shatters before earthquake, having gone through 12 years of war.

US Special Forces to use 'deep fake' disinformation propaganda to 'influence operations'
[BLAZE] The U.S. Special Operations Command plans to develop and use deepfake technology to generate disinformation and propaganda campaigns that "influence operations," according to federal contracting documents that include a wish list of future technologies.

The documents, obtained by the Intercept, revealed that the military is seeking to develop next-generation technologies to hack and "takeover" [sic] foreign populations' internet-connected devices to gather data and information that would "enable breakdown of what messaging might be popular and accepted."

This strategy would enable the SOCOM to "craft and promote messages that may be more readily received by local populace in relevant peer/near peer environments."

The SOCOM document noted that it seeks to develop the next generation of "deep fake" technology that could "generate messages and influence operations via non-traditional channels."

The pitch document also listed other future technology developments, including lasers, robots, and holographs. SOCOM is accepting proposals for these next-generation advancements through 2025.
