Soviet Union had fatalities of a total of between 15K and 25k in Afghanistan in ten years of conflict.

The USA about 58k in Vietnam in about 10 years of conflict.

Russia between 100k and 150k in one year of conflict in Ukraine.

#2 Afghanistan was a light infantry fight.

Viet Nam was a light infantry fight.

Ukraine is an armored infantry knife fight with extensive use of heavy artillery. Every fighter has a machine gun.

#3 If I can say one good thing about US involvement in this "conflict," it's that the Pentagone seems to have limited say in the ROE.
