Splitters! Cracks are becoming fissures in Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez's self-declared revolution, as armed groups of leftist supporters clashed in recent weeks in a rough and poor barrio in skirmishes that left at least four dead.
The gunfights are the first between Chávez supporters in public and seem to illustrate the rough scramble over the benefits from Chávez's oil-fueled government as well as bitter jealousies among leaders of Chavista groups. ''Wherever you go in this country, you'll find a [poor neighborhood] . . . where there are internal fights,'' said Alberto Garrido, a longtime Chávez watcher and author of several books on the man and his ideology.

Some Tupamaros maintain their vigilante role and run government literacy and after-school programs, while others engage in criminal activities. But all are armed and seem to have benefited financially and socially from Chávez's rise to power. Some have government jobs, while others are living off the leftovers from the government's increased social spending.
Sounds like Massachusetts...except everybody's got automatic weapons.

In some ways, Chavez reminds me of Alexander Kerensky, best known as being the president of the short-lived democratic Soviet Union, and having the personality of John Kerry mixed with Pee Wee Herman, alternatively boring and bureaucratic, and paranoid and panic-stricken.
He issued guns to the peasants, too. Guns that were used to overthrow his government a short time later.

Negotiations are being held with Russia for moving the first President of Georgia Zviad Gamsakhurdia's tomb to the Georgian capital of Tbilisi from the Chechen capital of Grozny.

Georgia's foreign ministry spokesman Nato Chikovani told the APA's Georgia bureau that the first president's spouse Manana Archvadze-Gamsakhurdia and his sons appealed to the Ministry for moving the grave to Tbilisi. The reason why is because Russian representative office in Chechnya warned about building of a government residence in the place where the grave is. Chikovani said Georgian Foreign Ministry sent a note to Russian Foreign Ministry for delaying the construction of the government residence in Grozny in the period of negotiating and until the place of Gamsakhurdia's grave is determined in Tbilisi. "But we have not yet received any reply from Russia," the spokesman said.
Georgian Patriarch has also joined the process of moving the first President's tomb to Tbilisi. The then President Gamsakhurdia was buried in Chikashkari as he was born in Georgia but his spouse MananaArchvadze-Gamsakhurdia insisted on moving his tomb to Grozny later on.

One couple who moved to Florida told Die Welt: Here our children have a future in which they will not have to fear unemployment and social decline. Perhaps moving to America will be a better fertility boost for young couples than using Femi-X. The best aphrodisiac may be to leave the welfare state.

Well the problem is, they tend to bring their socialist tendencies as well. Just like Californians and Urbanites that move someplace to get away from the destruction they caused, only to begin the process all over.
Lets see...I do believe that it is called gentrification, only without the good aspects.
But, I guess we could always look at them as good breeding stock for when we can re-introduce them to their native range. You know, after we exterminate the Arabs/Mohammedans. God willing of course.

Space shuttle Discovery and its crew of six returned to Earth through overcast skies Monday, ending a successful mission that put NASA back in the space station construction business. Discovery glided down through an overcast sky onto the Kennedy Space Center runway at 9:14 a.m., allowing NASA to declare total victory for the first time since before the 2003 Columbia disaster. It was so cloudy, shuttle commander Steven Lindsey couldn't spot the runway until about a minute before landing.
