How an Arab country helped Israel rescue Yemen’s last Jews, and settle them in Cairo
[IsraelTimes] In 2021, nearly 100 Yemen

ite Jews were evacuated from a secure compound in Sana’a amid civil war. But one of them, Salem Levi Marhabi, was forced to stay; he is still held in a Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
prison

In 2021, an Arab country helped Israel evacuate close to 100 Jews from Yemen and move them to Egypt. The Times of Israel is revealing for the first time details of the operation, within the limits of what is allowed to be published by the censor.

The rescued Jews were the final remnant of a community with a two millennia history. They lived in a secure complex in Sana’a, protected by the authorities from being harmed by the Houthi rebels, who had taken control over large parts of Yemen during the Moslem country’s yearslong civil war.

The Jews moved to Sana’a after their stay in a less secure compound in Raydah, a city to the north of the capital, once home to a large Jewish community. But in Sana’a, the danger was visible every day, and the need to evacuate them from Yemen became critical.

Israel requested emergency assistance on the matter from an Arab country that does not have ties with Jerusalem. Envoys of that country traveled to Sana’a to conduct negotiations on the evacuation of the Jews from the compound.

At the same time, the Arab country negotiated with Egypt to agree to settle the Yemenite Jews in Cairo.

Some of them, who were under the influence of the anti-Zionist Satmar Hassidic sect, did not want to immigrate to Israel — which they regarded as a secular and apostate country.

In addition, as part of the complicated deal between the Arab country, Israel and Sana’a, the Yemenis refused to allow the Jews to come to Israel — particularly those with first-degree relatives in the Jewish state.

And so, close to 100 Jews left Yemen in 2021 for a compound in Cairo — all with foreign funding. The operation was managed by a special envoy, who remains anonymous, on behalf of the unidentified Arab country.

THE ONE WHO WAS LEFT BEHIND
Unfortunately, one Jew, Salem Levi Marhabi, was forbidden to leave by the government and remained in Yemen. Marhabi is now believed to be the last Jew living in Yemen, and the special envoy travels to Sana’a every month to check on his well-being.

Marhabi had lived in Israel in the past but returned to Yemen due to difficulties assimilating into the country. Before his return, he was pictured in March 2016 with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when the two, together with other Yeminite immigrants colonists, were looking at an ancient 800-year-old Torah scroll that had been smuggled into Israel from Yemen — an incident that raised the ire of the Yemeni authorities, not just the Houthis.

Shortly after the picture was taken, Marhabi returned to Yemen and was arrested upon his arrival. In 2018, he was sentenced to three years and six months in jail. Although his term ended some time ago, he was not released from prison. Three months ago, the Makor Rishon daily wrote that Marhabi is held in a Houthi prison and that, according to reports, he experienced torture and has lost all of his teeth.

According to sources in the unnamed Arab country, Jews who live today in the closed compound in Cairo are not a burden on the Egyptian authorities. They are engaged in goldsmithing and earn their own living. Their artistic products have become in high demand in the city.

In fact, the Yemenites from Sana’a are probably the only Jews living in Egypt after the community in the country disintegrated over the years.
That’s an exaggeration. There are still a dozen or so native Egyptian Jews in the country, almost all elderly females after the men were forced to leave under Nasser.
The Egyptian police are the ones keeping an eye on the new community today.

The Prime Minister’s Office and state agencies that deal with Jews in impoverished countries did not respond to this report.

Israeli soccer player exits Scottish team after pressure over pro-Palestinian displays
[IsraelTimes] Signing with US Major League Soccer club Charlotte, Liel Abada says ’leaving Celtic wasn’t in my plans, yet life’s unpredictable turns remind us we’re not always in control’

Israeli soccer player Liel Abada has moved from Celtic to US Major League Soccer club Charlotte after coming under pressure from compatriots to quit the Scottish Premiership following displays of support for Paleostinians among some fans amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas
...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
war.

The 22-year-old, who made 112 appearances for Celtic, scoring 29 goals, has signed a deal until 2026 with the team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, for a reported fee of £8 million ($10.25 million).

Abada was out of action for about four months and when he returned he faced huge pressure in his country to end his association with Celtic, which included public comments from Israel teammates.

Banners among Celtic supporters which read "Free Paleostine" and "Victory to the resistance" sparked anger in Israel and criticism from former Hoops midfielder Nir Bitton.

Abada received a huge ovation when he returned from injury against Rangers on December 30, but Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said the player could not focus and admitted he could leave.

His final match turned out to be a 2-1 win over Hibernian on February 7, when he went straight down the tunnel as his colleagues celebrated a last-gasp victory.

"Leaving Celtic wasn’t in my plans, yet life’s unpredictable turns remind us that we’re not always in control," Abada wrote on Instagram.

"The past six months have been a personal challenge, yet the overwhelming support from the gaffer, coaches and board has been my rock. Their unwavering faith during these times won’t be forgotten but cherished forever."

Abada added: "Thank you to all the Celtic fans. Recent times were very difficult for myself and my family but I want to say thank you to all the Celtic fans who stood by me, supported and respected me as a Celtic player."

The Scottish champions said on their website: "Everyone at Celtic thanks Liel for his great contribution to the club and we sincerely wish him the very best for the future."
The club, yes. But clearly not the fans — or not enough of them. It wouldn’t be surprising if some if his upset compatriots are female relatives back home.
Earlier this year, two Israeli soccer players on Ottoman Turkish teams faced similar pressures after they ran afoul of local fans with their expression of support for Israeli hostages kidnapped by Hamas.

North Caucasian Federal District receive compensation for the maintenance of Palestinian refugees
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The Russian government sent eight regions, including three republics of the North Caucasus, compensation for the costs of housing and feeding Palestinian refugees. The largest amount was allocated to Dagestan.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on November 21, 2023, the Dagestan authorities announced that they were ready to accept up to 200 refugees from Palestine, and 8.2 million rubles had been allocated for their accommodation. In January, the government of Dagestan allocated an additional 15 million rubles for accommodation and food for refugees.

By February 28, 183 refugees from the Gaza Strip had arrived in Dagestan, the government of the republic reported.

The Russian government has allocated 17.76 million rubles from the reserve fund of the Cabinet of Ministers to the regions receiving Russian and foreign citizens from Palestine to reimburse “the expenses incurred in 2023 by the constituent entities of the Russian Federation for the accommodation and food of these citizens for the required period (but not more than six months) in temporary accommodation and food centers,” says the government order, dated March 6 and posted on March 9 on the website “Official publication of legal acts.”

Compensations are allocated “based on temporary accommodation - up to 913 rubles per person per day, for food - up to 415 rubles per person per day,” the order notes.

The list of recipients includes eight regions, including three republics of the North Caucasian Federal District: Dagestan, Ingushetia and Karachay-Cherkessia. Money was also allocated to the Kaluga, Lipetsk, Moscow, Tver and Chelyabinsk regions.

Batumi residents demand an end to the oppression of Muslims in Adigeni
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Authorities must investigate and stop attacks on Muslims in the Georgian village of Adigeni, protesters near the central mosque of Batumi said.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, on March 8, dozens of residents of the village of Adigeni in southern Georgia held a protest to prevent their fellow Muslim villagers from holding Friday prayers. There is no mosque in the village, and Muslims gather for prayer on Fridays in the house of Yusuf Mikeladze, where there is a spiritual center. The former mufti of Georgia demanded that the country's authorities investigate the incident.

Residents of Batumi today held an action of solidarity with Muslims from the village of Adigeni near the central mosque of the city. The protesters said that it is unacceptable to divide people on ethnic and religious grounds, and called on the state to protect freedom of religion, equality and social peace, the Adjara TV channel reported, which was watched by a Caucasian Knot correspondent.

“Unfortunately, the right to conduct prayers freely is being violated. Based on this, the protesters demand that the authorities urgently take measures to prevent this from happening again,” protest participant Mindia Atadze said in a TV report.

“This was a provocation [in Adigeni], and I believe that the relevant departments will investigate this and the situation will be resolved,” another protester Vitaly Nodadze told the channel’s journalists.

Let us recall that in May 2017, the Batumi mayor’s office did not allow the local Muslim community to begin construction of a mosque. The refusal was motivated by the fact that the plot purchased for construction is located in an area of dense residential development. Instead of a mosque, a prayer house was opened on the site. The situation escalated into years of litigation.

Muslims in Georgia  are discriminated against in schools, do not receive higher education, and cannot get a job. In addition, they themselves refuse to participate in political and social life, said the authors of a 2018 study.

In 2014, residents of Kobuleti hung a pig’s head on the building in which a Turkish citizen planned to open a madrasah. After this, the Muslim community filed a complaint of discrimination with the Batumi City Court. In July 2015, rallies were held in the city against the activities of a Muslim boarding house. In September 2016, three Georgians were found guilty of discrimination against Muslims. Participants in protests against the operation of a Muslim boarding house received fines.

In 2019, a complaint was filed against Georgia in connection with the harassment of Muslims. The Georgian authorities did not protect the rights of religious minorities  and did not help ensure the opening of a boarding house for Muslim students in Kobuleti, according to a complaint sent to the European Court of Human Rights.

The ECHR ruled that the Georgian authorities failed to take adequate action to prevent religious discrimination and violence against the founders of the madrassa in Kobuleti, and awarded compensation to the applicants. However, he refused to recognize the pig's head incident as degrading treatment.

CM Bugti announces 'general amnesty' for Baloch separatists willing to join mainstream politics
[GEO.TV] Newly elected Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has urged Baloch gunnies to abandon violence and join mainstream politics, saying the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP)-led government is going to announce a "general amnesty" to resolve the issue through dialogue.

"Many liquidation attempts were made on my life but I have forgiven all those [elements] as there is no flame of Dire Revenge in my heart," the provincial chief executive said while speaking on Geo News programme Jirga aired at 10pm on Sunday.

"Although I am in power, it does not mean that I start settling personal scores... [and] I did not have any personal feud with anyone," he added.

Bugti, who served as caretaker interior minister at Centre before the February 8 elections, said he always stood by the state in its fight against separatists and lost his relatives, friends and colleagues in the conflict.

"But despite this, I don’t have any Dire Revenge in my heart."

The chief minister said he wanted the resolution of the Balochistan insurgency via dialogue and his government is ready to hold dialogue with anyone ready to rid of violence.

"We are announcing a general amnesty and reviving a peaceful Balochistan policy under which we will try that they [insurgents] become part of mainstream politics," he said.

CM Bugti also warned that If the Baloch gunnies don’t become part of the mainstream and abandon violence then he "has no other option but to establish a writ of the state".

However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the CM refused to share the details of "general amnesty", saying he would elaborate on the policy once things are finalised.

Netanyahu orders prisons to prepare for large inrush of Palestinian inmates in 2024
[IsraelTimes] Activists claim administrative prisoner population has nearly doubled since October 7; Israel says most arrests of terror suspects made in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
since October 7

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered government ministries on Sunday to prepare prisons for an influx of thousands of inmates, according to a statement from the premier’s office.
A sensible precaution, given current trends.
During a meeting with representatives from the ministries of defense, national security, and finance, the IDF and Shin Bet presented estimates showing that thousands of murderous Moslems are expected to be arrested in 2024, which will lead to a lack of space in the prisons if preparations are not made.

Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas
...always the voice of sweet reason...
, about 4,000 arrests of terror suspects have been made, the majority of them in Gaza.
Those aren’t arrests, they’re captured prisoners of the war Hamas & friends started.
The Israel Prison Service presented both short-term and medium-term plans for the expected increase, which Netanyahu approved, the statement said.

Last Thursday, the IDF and Shin Bet said some 40 Paleostinian suspects held under administrative detention had been released in a move aimed at freeing up space "for detainees of a higher threat level."
That’s a grand total of 1% — ot much freed space.
A statement put out by the organizations noted the released suspects had been slated to be freed in the coming month.

Administrative detention is a controversial tool whereby Paleostinian terror suspects and, more rarely, Jewish terror suspects, are detained without charge or trial. The tool is typically used when authorities have intelligence tying a suspect to a crime but do not have enough evidence for charges to stand up in a court of law.

The detentions must be renewed by a military court every six months, and prisoners can remain in jail for years under the mechanism. Israel says administrative detention is a tool that helps keep dangerous murderous Moslems off the streets and allows the government to hold suspects without divulging sensitive intelligence. Critics say the policy denies suspects and prisoners due process.

While some Paleostinians are detained without known charges, the most common grounds for arrest range from online calls for violence to alleged terrorist activity.

Activists estimated in February that the number of Paleostinian prisoners in Israeli jails had swelled to around 9,000, from about 5,200 before Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel.
Sure, but “activists” routinely add 1+1 and get 50,000. I believe the Israeli numbers.
Israeli prison authorities announced a state of emergency after October 7 to prevent the potential involvement of inmates in violence and further unrest.
