Niger: ECOWAS set to rule on complaint over Mohamed Bazoum's detention
[AFRICANEWS] The ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States) is set to issue a decision on a complaint submitted by lawyers of former Nigerien president Mohammed Bazoum over his ouster in a July coup. Since his toppling, Bazoum has been held at his residence in the heart of the presidential palace in the Niamey, Niger's capital.

The complaint with the ECOWAS Court of Justice by Bazoom's lawyers centers on what they called "sequestration and arbitrary detention". The court's decision is expected on Thursday November 30.

On November 1, the public prosecutor at the Niamey Court of Appeal confirmed that there had been an escape attempt by President Mohammed Bazoum on October 18. But gave no details.

The ECOWAS Court of Justice had on November 21 examined Niger's complaint against the regional organization, which imposed sanctions following the coup d'état.

"There is no sector of the Nigerien society that has not been affected by these sanctions according to Younkaila Yaye, one of the government’s lawyers

The government asked the court to relax the sanctions pending the final judgement. But ECOWAS protested against their request.

Mohammed Bazoum is the fifth Nigerien president to be tossed by a putsch since the country gained independence from La Belle France in 1960.

The first president, Hamani Diori, tossed in 1974, was imprisoned and then placed under house arrest for several years before being released in 1987.

Qatar eager to seeing UNSC efforts for 'sustainable ceasefire'

’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said that his country is eager to seeing the UNSC take steps towards applying a "sustainable ceasefire", and implementing measures to guarantee the flow of "sufficient humanitarian aid, and to secure the delivery thereof without any impediments".

Al Jazeera reported that Sheikh Mohammed said it also should be applied "without double standards and without preferential treatment".

"The double standards applied by the international community regarding the carnages and the crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against civilians and civilian infrastructure ... is a stain on the conscience of humanity," he told members of the Security Council.

Speaking on the extended truce, which Qatar has helped mediate, the minister said the agreement has allowed more "badly needed" humanitarian aid into the Gazoo

He also suggested establishing a mechanism to monitor the delivery of humanitarian aid though "all the crossings" into the enclave, and called on Israel to abide by its obligations under international law.

Zahab, whose name has been changed for her safety, applied for the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) resettlement scheme in October 2021, designed for those who worked for or with British armed forces in Afghanistan, but was denied relocation. Through speaking to her former colleagues, The Independent, in collaboration with investigative newsroom Lighthouse Reports, has established that Zahab was one of a select group of women who worked for Commando Force 333, an elite Afghan fighter unit that was set up and paid for by the British government.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Residents of Dagestan demonstrated their readiness to help refugees from Palestine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Clothes and hygiene products are being accepted at the humanitarian aid collection point for Palestinian refugees, and prayer rugs have also been given to the refugees. They do not accept food or money for refugees, they said at the aid collection headquarters in Makhachkala. Residents of Dagestan who visited the point complained that they did not know what exactly the refugees who arrived in the republic needed.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, three groups of Palestinians arrived in Dagestan. IDPs from Palestine  will receive refugee status, the government of Dagestan announced. All refugees are housed at a recreation center near Makhachkala, government officials said. Residents of Palestine who arrived in Dagestan asked to be provided with cellular communications and the Internet, as well as to draw up documents; some of them intend to obtain Russian citizenship.

On November 21, the Dagestan authorities announced that they were ready to accept up to 200 refugees from Palestine. The republican authorities allocated 8.2 million rubles for their placement. On November 25, the first group  of refugees from Palestine, consisting of about 50 people,  arrived in Dagestan  .

At the center for social services for elderly citizens and disabled people in Makhachkala, where the headquarters and reception point for collecting humanitarian aid for Palestinian refugees from the territory of Palestine is set up, they said that they are mainly brought clothes and hygiene products. “Both individuals and representatives of commercial structures and government organizations bring it. The other day, a large shipment of aid was received from one of the Makhachkala schools,” said a representative of the headquarters.

According to him, they bring personal hygiene products, clothing, and food. “We do not take food, since refugees are provided with everything. We only accept new clothes. Basically, at the request of the displaced, warm winter clothing and personal hygiene products are required. Both private individuals and representatives of various commercial and government organizations come. provided assistance, we register. Some offer money, we don’t take it,” they said at the reception point.

The headquarters noted that part of the collected aid has already been delivered to the displaced. As received, everything will be delivered to their place of residence. “As aid is delivered, we find out their preferences. The other day, prayer rugs and women’s Muslim clothing brought by businessmen were delivered. They were very grateful,” the headquarters reported.

Malikat, a resident of Dagestan, said that she brought mainly hygiene products. “I brought shampoos, hygiene products, children’s clothes. I want the refugees not to need anything. I asked how else I could help, they said that they have everything,” she told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

The headquarters refused to accept food, Magomedrasul noted . “Our family decided to buy and send children’s clothing to the refugees, since we were told that there were many children there. We also brought food, but said that the displaced people did not need it,” says Magomedrasul.

A number of people who visited the aid station said they took items to give to refugees without knowing what exactly they needed. “They brought soap, toothpaste, toilet paper, napkins, household chemicals. We didn’t know what exactly they needed. We are ready to help in any way we can,” says Indira.

“They took children’s clothes at random, since many children arrived. Next time they asked me to indicate specific sizes of clothes and what exactly they needed,” said pensioner Khadijat .

The Insan Foundation previously said that a fundraiser had been announced for Palestinians, and assistance would also be provided to refugees who arrived in Dagestan, in particular, large families. “Eset Kosumova has five children, she managed to leave the Gaza Strip. Her Palestinian husband works as a doctor and did not leave the country during a difficult time for her. Now the family is safe, although not in full strength. We are ready to provide all the necessary assistance, so that they can improve their lives in Dagestan and not need anything,” said a representative of the Insan Foundation.

The Insan Foundation took Eset Kosumova's family under its wing. “Together with them, our employees went to the store, where they bought warm clothes and shoes for each of them. We hope that coming to Dagestan and our care will help this family forget about the difficulties they have endured and build their life here. And we are ready to support them in this and further,” a representative of the fund told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

The Foundation sent a truck with blankets, a shipment of medicines, and drinking water to warehouses in Ismailia in Egypt for the residents of the Gaza Strip. “All this humanitarian aid from here will go directly to the Gaza Strip. Everything we purchase is coordinated with the Red Crescent. Our employees are helped in this by the Palestinians who are in Egypt and know about the needs of the people in Gaza,” the fund said "Insan."

Let us recall that Muslims in the North Caucasus, including in Dagestan, reacted sharply to the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. On October 19, the Dagestan Insan Foundation announced a fundraiser for Palestinians, and the very next day reported that 20 million rubles had been collected. On November 3, the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, announced that the residents of the republic  had collected more than 90 million rubles to help the Palestinians  .

On November 20 , the first 30 tons of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians, purchased with money raised with the participation of residents of the republic, were sent from Dagestan  . In total, it is planned to send 100 tons of humanitarian cargo, said Sergei Melikov. The Muftiate of Dagestan reported on November 26 that 100 tons of humanitarian aid had already been sent.

Muslim Councilor's Mask Slips Wants Irish Protesters "Shot in the Head"
[IndependentSentinel] A Bangladesh-born Muslim councilor in Ireland has called for activists who rioted in Dublin last week after three Irish children were stabbed by an Algerian Muslim migrant to be executed. Azad Talukder, a councilor in Limerick for the co-governing Fianna Fáil party, made the remarks during a council meeting held on Monday where the civil unrest in the Irish capital was discussed.

THE STORY
Limerick City West Councilor Abul Kalam Azad Talukder has triggered uproar after he said that he would “like to see” those behind the Dublin riots “shot in the head” – and beaten by the public “until they die.”

“Not even an animal does this kind of thing,” he said. He didn’t say it about the Muslim who knifed three children and two adults who tried to protect the children. He meant the Irish protesters.

“It is very shameful, and they should get public punishment. I’d like to see them shot in the head or bring the public in and beat them until they die,” Talukder added.

Murder of a teenager by migrants: politicians keep the French from lynching
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Olesya Orlenko
[Regnum] The murder of a teenager in a provincial town provoked serious passions in France. The nationality of the alleged killers is to blame. And although such crimes occur in France with alarming regularity, the incident caused a strong resonance both in a society experiencing difficult social and economic times, and among politicians in the context of the upcoming elections to the European Parliament. Sixteen-year-old rugby player Thomas Perotto was killed on the night of November 18-19 in the town of Crepol. The tragedy occurred at an annually organized city festival, in which residents and invitees participate. According to one version of the investigation, during a party between teenagers and visitors who came from the Monnet quarter, located in the neighboring city of Roman-sur-Isère, a quarrel occurred.

So far, police have made 20 arrests and interviewed 104 witnesses. Some of them say that "outsiders" made aggressive statements towards "whites". According to another version, the quarrel was provoked by Tom’s friend, bullying the “guests”, using the words of the song that was playing at that time.

US charges Indian citizen in alleged Sikh assassination plot
[DW] US authorities have charged an Indian man over an alleged plan to assassinate a prominent Sikh separatist living in New York. The Department of Justice said an Indian government employee was also involved in the plot.

The US Justice Department announced charges on Wednesday against an Indian national for orchestrating an unsuccessful plot to assassinate a Sikh separatist on US soil. The suspect is accused of acting on behalf of an Indian government official.

The announcement comes just weeks after Canada linked the Indian government to the liquidation of a Sikh activist on its soil, prompting a diplomatic row between the two countries.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan said the Indian government employee linked to the plot held responsibilities such as security and intelligence. Prosecutors did not name the Indian official or the target of the liquidation plot.

"The defendant conspired from India to assassinate, right here in New York City, a US citizen of Indian origin who has publicly advocated for the establishment of a sovereign state for Sikhs," Damian Williams, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, said in a statement.

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CZECH REPUBLIC
The Indian government official is said to have directed the liquidation plot from India, working with the suspect charged by US authorities and others based around the world, the US government said.

Prosecutors allege that the suspect, named Nikhil G., reached out to someone he believed was a criminal associate to help hire a hitman for the liquidation. But the associate he reached out to was an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent.

The 52-year-old Nikhil G. was arrested by Czech authorities in June and is awaiting extradition to the US.

He faces two counts of murder-for-hire and murder-for-hire conspiracy, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years.

INDIA SAYS IT 'LAUNCHED INQUIRY'
An Indian government spokesperson said in a statement that the US had "shared some inputs pertaining to nexus between organized criminals, gun runners, snuffies and others."

"We had also indicated that India takes such inputs seriously since they impinge on our national security interests," the statement said, adding that a "high-level Enquiry Committee" was established on November 18 "to look into all the relevant aspects of the matter."

Recently, the Biden administration has sought to build closer ties with India to counter an ascendant China, which both countries perceive as a threat.

The Indian government has long decried the presence of Sikh separatist groups outside India in both Canada and the US, which it sees as responsible for keeping the movement for an independent Sikh state alive.

India considers this movement a threat to its own security.
Update from One India at 10:50 a.m. ET:
The United States charged an Indian national with a conspiracy to murder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun,
...also in our archives as Gurpatwant Pannun. He has citizenship on both Canada and the US, and now acts as general counsel of Sikhs for Justice...
founder of Sikhs for Justice,
...a US-based group that is part of a movement pushing for an independent Sikh state called “Khalistan”. Khalistan is the romantic idea that somehow the Sikhs will create a homeland in the Indian Punjab through anti-Indian terror and lawfare, funded by the Sikh diaspora and trained and guided as a project of Pakistan’s ISI as yet another arrow in their quiver aimed at India’s heart. No doubt that’s why it never seems to have occurred to them the Pakistan’s Punjab is the other half of their native homeland...
designated as a terrorist by the Indian government and a US citizen. The US attorney's office on Wednesday said Nikhil Gupta was arrested by Czech authorities in June and is awaiting extradition.

Islamabad court throws out Imran Khan's plea for acquittal in female judge threatening case
[GEO.TV] A local court in Islamabad on Wednesday dismissed Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) Chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the brightest knife in the national drawer...
's plea seeking acquittal in a case registered against him for threatening a female judge.

The district and sessions court judge Mureed Abbas, while announcing a reserved verdict on the plea, said: "The PTI chairman does not deserve acquittal" in the case.

The verdict was reserved upon completion of the arguments from all parties in the case.

The court also decided to conduct Khan's trial all over again from the beginning and adjourned the hearing till December 20.

A case had been registered against the deposed prime minister in August 2022 at Margalla cop shoppe under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) for his intimidating remarks targetting an additional sessions judge, Zeba Chaudhry, and senior Islamabad coppers during a public rally last year.

Khan had warned that he would "not spare" Islamabad's inspector-general, deputy inspector general, and the female magistrate, vowing to file cases against them for "torturing" PTI leader Shahbaz Gill — then behind the bars — under custody.

IHC acquits Nawaz Sharif in Avenfield reference
[GEO.TV] In a major relief for the former prime minister, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday acquitted Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif

The court also dismissed the plea filed by the National Accountability Bureau in the Flagship reference against the PML-N supremo after the accountability watchdog withdrew it.

An IHC division bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb announced the verdict on Nawaz's plea to overturn his conviction in the graft case.

Talking to journalists outside the court after his major legal victory, Nawaz — a three-time prime minister eyeing his fourth term in next year’s general elections — said: "I had left it up to Allah. In al-Azizia [Steel Mills corruption reference] also, I’ve also left my matters up to Allah."

How NYT, CNN, WaPo, etc. made Hamas's Hospital Strike Blood Libel a success
[TabletMag] At 6:59 p.m. on Oct. 17, a blast occurred in the parking lot of the Al-Ahli hospital. The crater it left was small and shallow, and the explosion that followed was a sudden fireball that left two fires burning in the parking lot. The hospital was undamaged, except for some broken windows on the blast side, and half a dozen cars were strewn around, badly burned.

Anyone who saw the crater knew right away that it was what observers call a "fell-short": a Palestinian rocket that never made it to its target in Israel. It was a familiar sight, as 20%-30% of the rockets Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have fired into Israel....

"In the last week, we achieved a very great achievement — the return of many dozens of our abductees. A week ago it would have sounded imaginary, but we achieved it. But in the last few days I hear a question — after this phase of returning our abductees is exhausted, will Israel return to fighting? So my answer is an unequivocal yes," Netanyahu added.

"There is no way we are not going back to fighting until the end. This is my policy, the entire cabinet stands behind it, the entire government stands behind it, the soldiers stand behind it, the people stand behind it — this is exactly what we will do."

#2  I'm sure everyone frets that the "cease fire" mostly benefited HAMASS, but I'm sure the IDF also took the time to rest up, top off ammo supplies, and stock extra rations and a spare pair of socks. The band is ready to return from intermission and it's time to resume the dance.

[GEO.TV] The military said its forces would meet the released captives at the transfer point at the Kerem Shalom crossing, Al Jazeera reported.

Israeli media outlets have reported that the two captives are Israelis who also hold Russian citizenship.

The military wing of the Palestinian organization Hamas Al-Qassam Brigades released two Russian hostages in response to a request from Moscow, Al Jazeera reported on November 29 on its Telegram channel.

“Two detained Russians were released in response to a request from the Russian leadership,” the statement said.

Earlier, Israeli media reported that the Palestinian Hamas movement would release two Israeli women with Russian citizenship on November 29.

As Regnum reported , on November 29, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the Palestinian movement Hamas included the 13-year-old daughter of a Russian citizen on the list for exchange on November 29. The department noted that Russian diplomats in contact with Hamas sought the girl’s release.

Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov reported on November 27 that several more Russians were being held captive by Hamas.

Moment of reflection as list of Palestinian prisoners reveals ‘inconvenient truths’
[Dawn] Reading through the list of Paleostinian prisoners slated for release, the first thing that strikes you is their ages. The vast majority of them — 287 — are aged 18 or under, including five as young as 14, which begs the question: how does a 14-year-old boy become a "security prisoner"?

This question was posed by Iranian-Israeli political activist Orly Noy in a piece for the +972 Magazine, which argues that the list is a dizzying testament to just how central detention and imprisonment are to Israel’s occupation and control over Paleostinians.

The names on the list include alleged members of Paleostinian political factions like Hamas
