#1 I am surprised it took this long for Venezuela to start its Socialism expansion activates into South America again.

Given 2 months ago Communist China (CCP) and Venezuela signed agreements. Which have the CCP pumping $$$$ in to Venezuela the Economy, increasing trade to hide CCP Weapons imports, for the added tourism (18-30 y/o military age males) and expanding CCP's Political influence in the Central/South America area.

Interesting when you consider:
The stages in CCP influence & growth in the Panama Canal area, in Mexico, and the Gulf area.

But then add in the threat it already poses using the US OPEN BORDER to bring in 18-30 y/o military age males and plant a 5th column in the USA.

#2 Brazil has a significant military capability, over 300k active duty. They have some experience also being deployed in Haiti recently. They have pretty good equipment but who knows how well it is maintained and whether they can operate it.

Venezuala's Army is about 100k. Also have a lot of equipment. Same issue as Brazil re:O & M.

#3 ...The Brazilians are what could be called a regional superpower - their gear and doctrine is first rate (they just finished up a major exercise with the USMC and USN, and they exercise with us on a regular basis) they just don't have the ability to project very far.

Having said that, if they get into it with the Venezuelans expect them to execute a pretty solid beating. The Venezuelan leadership thinks they're divinely mandated to run the place, and unfortunately they're what Jim Dunnigan calls a 'police army', far more dangerous to its own people than any other nation. (See also Falklands War-era and current day Argentina for the textbook definition of this sort of thing.)
