UNSMIL demands ceasefire in the west
[Libya Herald] UNSMIL has demanded an end to the heavy fighting in Warshefana while within the region, Libyan National Army units appear to be tightening their grip on Aziziya and pressing toward the southern suburbs of Tripoli

An army source told the Libya Herald that the fighting today had not been as intense as of recent. The main centre of conflict appears to have been at Zahra Bridge, ten kilometres from the southern Tripoli suburb of Swani Ben Adam.

Meanwhile,

Egypt calls for anti-IS intervention in Libya
[Libya Herald] A senior Egyptian foreign ministry official has called for the crushing of IS Death Eaters in Libya as well as in Iraq and Syria.

Abdel-Rahman Salah, an aide to Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri has demanded the international coalition against the Islamic State

Arabia
Pakistan hits out at UAE over Yemen criticism
[ARABNEWS] Islamabad on Sunday hit out at the United Arab Emirates for condemning a parliamentary vote by Pak politicians to stay out of the conflict in Yemen, in a rare display of discord between the two allies.

Pakistain's Parliament on Friday passed a unanimous resolution backing the government's commitment to protect Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's territory from Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
rebels, but declined Riyadh's request for Pak troops, ships and warplanes inside Yemen.

Anwar Gargash, the UAE's minister of state for foreign affairs, lashed out at Pakistain's vote on his Twitter account Saturday, terming it "contradictory and dangerous and unexpected," and accusing Islamabad of siding with Iran, which is accused of backing the rebels. He added Pakistain's stand would come at a high cost.

Pakistain's interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Currently the Interior Minister of Pakistain. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Nawaz Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
hit back on Sunday night in an unusually strongly worded statement, accusing the UAE of "making threats."

"This is not only ironic but a thought-provoking moment that a minister of UAE is hurling threats at Pakistain. The statement of the UAE minister is in stark violation of all diplomatic norms prevalent according to the principals of international relations," he said.

The thing to watch will be Anti-US US OWG Globaist POTUS Obama's = US' military response, or lack of same = minimalism, to any Saudi-Iran shootout.

Saudi minister in Pakistan after lawmakers reject troop request
[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
's minister for religious affairs arrived in Pakistain late on Sunday, two days after the country's parliament rejected a Saudi appeal for support for its military intervention in Yemen.

His arrival follows a visit by the Iranian foreign minister last week, in which the Iranians urged Pakistain to support dialogue in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
rather than sending troops.

On Friday, Pakistain's parliament voted not to join the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen, dashing Riyadh's hopes for powerful support from outside of the region in its fight to halt Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. rebels, some of whom have links to Iran.

Saudi Arabia had asked fellow Sunni-majority Pakistain to provide ships, aircraft and troops for the campaign, now in its third week, to stem the influence of Shi'ite Iran in what could develop into a proxy war between the Gulf's two dominant powers.

"The resolution passed by Pakistain's parliament is Pakistain's internal matter," Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz bin Mohammad al-Sheikh told news hounds at the airport.

He added: "We have very good relations with Pakistain, and we expect a lot of good from it. Pakistain is a very important country, it is a big country in the Islamic world."

"Pakistain and Saudi Arabia have had very strong relations ever since Pakistain's creation...we should try and improve these ties as best we can."

He is expected to return to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, a foreign office official said. His schedule was not made public.

Britain
Labour party says backs Palestinian state 'at right time'
[Iran Press TV] British Labour Party leader says he will recognize Paleostine as an independent state 'at the right time,' should he win the May 7 general election.
...which is part of the reason why British Jews increasingly vote Tory, according to the most recent polls.
Ed Miliband said his party backed British MPs' symbolic vote last year in favor of recognizing Paleostine.

"What we said at the time of that vote was that it was a vote about the principle of recognition. And clearly a decision about when recognition would take place was dependent on how it would constructively help negotiations," RT reported.

"I am not going to get into, today, speculation about when that would precisely be. That is a judgment we would have to take at the time."

Miliband, who is of Jewish decent, visited Israel and the Paleostinian Territories last April. During his visit to the West Bank, he said expanding Israeli settlements in the occupied territories posed "a mortal threat to the two-state solution."

Saudi Arabia denies claims its agents helped in 9/11 attacks
[IsraelTimes] Families of victims say new evidence shows Riyadh 'directly and knowingly' helped hijackers

Attorneys for Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
say a judge should reject claims by families of victims of the September 11 attacks that new evidence -- including an interview with the man who became known as the "20th hijacker" -- shows agents of the kingdom "directly and knowingly" helped the hijackers.

In papers filed in Manhattan federal court late Friday, the lawyers said there is no evidence Saudi Arabia supported or caused the attacks.

They urged a judge to dismiss the claims against Saudi Arabia, saying the lawyers "have had enough chances to make their case."

Saudi Arabia was among the countries, companies and organizations sued in 2002 and afterward by families who claimed they aided al-Qaeda, the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now neither a strong horse nor a weak horse, but a dead horse...
and other terrorist groups. The lawsuits sought billions of dollars in damages.

Lawyers for Saudi Arabia also urged the judge considering the merits of the civil litigation to disregard claims by al-Qaeda member Zacarias Moussaoui, who is serving a life prison sentence after pleading guilty in April 2005 to conspiring with the hijackers to kill Americans.

They called his comments to plaintiffs' lawyers last year "colorful but immaterial hearsay statements" from a convicted, mentally ill terrorist. Before jurors spared Moussaoui's life, a psychologist testified for the defense at death penalty proceedings that he had paranoid schizophrenia.

Moussaoui says it was a lie that Saudi Arabia cut ties with al-Qaeda and bin Laden in 1994.

Lawyers for 9/11 families cited Moussaoui's claims in saying they've unearthed "compelling" evidence that the Saudi government assisted the hijackers.

In papers filed Friday, the plaintiffs' lawyers said the efforts by Saudi Arabia to be dismissed from the litigation "rest on grave distortions of the record, implausible interpretations of the allegations, facts and evidence, and a refusal to afford plaintiffs the obvious inferences to which they are entitled."

Saudi Arabia was dismissed as a defendant in the case once before by a judge who said it was protected by sovereign immunity, but a federal appeals court in December 2013 reinstated it, saying a legal exception existed and the circumstances were extraordinary.

Lawyers for the plaintiffs say they have developed substantial new evidence against Saudi Arabia since the Sept. 11 Commission said in a report a decade ago that it found no evidence that the Saudi government or senior Saudi officials individually funded al-Qaeda.

Lawyers for Saudi Arabia say the families are relying on the submission of "thousands of pages of inadmissible and irrelevant materials."

They wrote: "If they had a single piece of evidence that would stand up in court, they would highlight it in their papers. Instead, they focus heavily on witnesses manifestly lacking personal knowledge, and on newspaper articles, blog posts, and similar multiple hearsay. They thus reveal that they have nothing better."

#1  It was great George Bush went after Osama in Afghanistan. That was good.

But it was bad that he called it a "war on terror" instead of its true name "war on fascist Islamism"

And it was terrible - terrible - that the Saudis were not called to account.

We should have invaded them. We should have removed their corrupt little royal family and occupied the country

We should have eradicated Islamism, torn it up by the root. Re-educated a generation to hold their faith as a faith only and not as a political and economic and legal system.

It would have needed a soldier on every corner with a machine gun. It would have needed the instant equal rights for women, and the immediate installing of girls and women in un-segregated universities, the removal of burqas, the westernisation and right to walk the streets.

It would have meant the instant granting of freedom of and from religion in the Kingdom

under occupation - the kind of occupation seen in World War II.

Instead we fought by proxy... afghanistan, iraq everywhere the running battle on the fringes

but that is the root of the problem: saudi arabia.

#2  the attacks happened: 2002. was it 17 of the 19 hijackers that were saudi? or 15? I can't remember now. Overwhelming majority.

It was clear to everyone immediately that the soddis were involved.

The slow wheels of the law have ground round for a decade and we are still arguing about whether they should actually hear the case or not

well it's going to be hard now after a decade

they'll drag it on until witnesses die of old age

Police told to affix court notice to Qadri's house
[DAWN] LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Monday allowed police to paste proclamations on the residences of Pakistain Awami Tehrik chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri
...Pak politician, and would-be dictator, founder and head of Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran and Pakistain Awami Tehrik. He usually resides in Canada, but returns to Pakistain periodically to foam at the mouth and lead demonstrations. Depending on which way the wind's blowing, Qadri claims to be the author of Pak's blasphemy law. Other times he says it wasn't him...
and nine other suspects involved in a case of attacking police party lodged by Depalpur City police.

The inspecting officer told the court that neither the suspects joined the investigation nor they were incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
.

He sought court's permission to paste proclamations on the residences of the suspects as a final notice before any decision. The court allowed the request and asked the IO to submit a progress report on May 10.

The court would issue perpetual arrest warrants for the suspects if they failed to respond to the proclamation within one month.

'Enemy-backed group killed Baloch labourers'
[DAWN] Groups supported by the Indian intelligence agency are involved in the ethnic massacre of the Baloch, said Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti while talking to the media after arriving at the Sheikh Zayed International Airport here on Saturday.

Bugti said 20 labourers had been killed while three injured in a "terrorist attack" in Turbat. He also said Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Khalid Langoo, Information Minister Abdul Rahim Ziaratwala and Spokesperson to the Balochistan Chief Minister Khan Bulaidi had also reached here to participate in the funeral prayers of the killed labourers.

He said his government condemned this "act of terrorism" and that a terrorist group had killed the 20 Paks not an ethnic group. He claimed a terrorist group in Balochistan had received funding and training from "the enemy" and murdered the labourers. He said he wanted to convey a message to the holy warriors that his government would chase them and that they would not succeed in dividing Paks.

U.N. Chief Warns of Growing Links between Crime and Extremism
Every once in a while dear Sec-Gen Ban Ki-moon notices the obvious, and is crass enough to mention it.
[AnNahar] U.N. Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
warned on Sunday of the growing links between organized crime and krazed killer violence, saying they are feeding off each other "like never before."

Speaking in Doha at the opening of a U.N. anti-crime meeting, Ban said more needed to be done to tackle both crime and extremism, especially to stop either from becoming attractive options for young people.

"We must address the growing links between organized crime and terrorism," he said at the opening of the 13th United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

"Like never before, gunnies and criminals around the world are coming together and feeding off each other. They are funding terror through criminal networks and growing rich through the suffering of entire populations."

He added: "There will always be crime and there will always be krazed killers. But we must work to stop crime and extremism being seen as attractive or necessary options --- especially by youth."

Among the issues to be discussed at the week-long conference are human trafficking, global use of the death penalty and match-fixing in sport.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Uh oh, Obean: Iran lawmakers demand 'fact sheet' on nuclear deal
He's even running out of enemies who like him.
A majority of Iranian lawmakers on Sunday demanded the country's negotiators publish a "fact sheet" on a newly agreed framework nuclear accord, while denouncing details laid out in an American version.

"In a letter, members of parliament asked for the publishing of an Iranian fact sheet, and so far 212 have signed it," Javad Karimi Ghodusi, a member of the 290-seat assembly, was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.

On April 2, Iran and world powers agreed on a framework accord to be finalised by the end of June to rein in Tehran's suspect nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting international sanctions.

Only one official statement with limited details was issued at the time, jointly by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

Later on, however, the US State Department published on its website an outline of some more key issues of the framework.

Zarif criticised the US version, saying on Twitter that "the solutions are good for all, as they stand. There is no need to spin using 'fact sheets' so early on".

After every political event, "each side focuses on their own perspective of what has happened and what will happen and it is natural that each side highlights the parts that are more to their benefit," Abbas Araghchi, a top Iranian negotiator, said Thursday.

"The Americans did it in written form... and our narrative which was a real one was thoroughly expressed in Mr. Zarif's remarks. We don't intend to publish it in writing yet, but we will do so if necessary."

Another negotiator, Iranian Atomic Energy Organisation chief Ali Akbar Salehi, said the US fact sheet mixed up "truth and lies" and "it could be said that they offered their own interpretation in order to create tension in our country".

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has the final word on all matters of state, was also defiant over a final deal.

"The main problem is that from now on details must be discussed, and since the other party is unloyal, stubborn and into backstabbing, in the discussions on details they might restrict" the negotiators and Iran, he said in a speech Thursday.

UNRWA Commissioner General Pierre Krahenbuhl and another senior U.N. official are in the Syrian capital to find ways to ease the plight of some 18,000 people estimated to be trapped in Yarmouk, which has been under government siege since 2013.

A Syrian military source said the army was giving a chance for solutions aimed at resolving the situation in Yarmouk, which U.N. Secretary General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon

ISIL, which has already seized wide areas of eastern and northern Syria, has in recent weeks mounted several big attacks on regions closer to the main population centres of western Syria, both in government- and rebel-held areas.

He also said they "face a double-edged sword - armed elements inside the camp, and government forces outside".

Iran Army set to unveil new defense achievements
[Iran Press TV] Iran's Army is set to unveil new domestically-built military hardware, including an armed robot and a wheeled battle tank, to mark National Army Day, which falls on April 18 this year.

Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told reports on Sunday that an ultra-light combat vehicle and anti-aircraft gun will also be among the new military achievements that are planned to be unveiled ahead of National Army Day on April 15.

Pourdastan said the wheeled battle tank, which will be put display for the first time, is equipped with a 90 mm-caliber cannon and can carry four military personnel.

The armed 4x4 robot is also capable of carrying two missiles and a load of up to 600 kilograms, according to the Iranian commander.

A 23 mm-caliber anti-aircraft gun capable of penetrating bulletproof vests as well as an ultra-light tracked combat vehicle will also be among the achievements to be unveiled by the country's Ground Forces.

Pro-Saudi Hackers Seize Iran TV's Social Media Accounts
[AnNahar] Hackers took over the social media accounts of Iran's Al-Alam television Sunday and posted material supportive of the Saudi-led air war against Iran-backed rebels in Yemen, the Arabic-language channel said.

Al-Alam accused the Saudi government of being behind the cyberattack in retaliation for the channel's critical coverage of the bombing campaign launched on March 26.

The hackers used Al-Alam's official Twitter account to put out false reports of the death of the leader of the Iranian catspaws in Yemen, Abdulmalik al-Huthi, forcing the channel to issue denials.

"Al-Alam Twitter account and its YouTube network were hacked today, Sunday, by Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
and were temporarily out of service," the television said on its website.

"Al-Alam's professional activities regarding Saudi Arabia's aggression on Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...
in recent weeks have caused the Saudis to be greatly furious with this network," it added.

The hackers posted several tweets containing what they said were the names and contact details of Al-Alam correspondents around the Middle East.

Relations between Sunni Saudi Arabia and Shiite Iran have deteriorated sharply since the Saudi-led coalition launched the bombing campaign accusing Iran of arming the rebels.

"Think more if you are going to talk about Saudi Arabia," the hackers wrote on Al-Alam's Twitter account.

"This hack I would give it as a gift for our pilots," said another tweet in English, referring to the air campaign in Yemen.

A video the hackers posted on Al-Alam's YouTube account featured a song in praise of Saudi King Salman
...either the largest species of Pacific salmon or the current Sheikh of the Burnin' Sands, Cutodian of the Two Holy Mosquesand Lord of Most of the Arabians....
Al-Alam is one of several foreign-language news channels operated by Iran's state broadcaster IRIB. It also runs the English-language Press TV and the Spanish-language HispanTV.

The channel said it was still trying to take back control of the hacked accounts.

It also announced new Twitter and YouTube accounts on its website.

Iran Lawmakers Demand 'Fact Sheet' on Nuclear Deal
[AnNahar] A majority of Iranian politicians on Sunday demanded the country's negotiators publish a "fact sheet" on a newly agreed framework nuclear accord, while denouncing details laid out in an American version.

"In a letter, members of parliament asked for the publishing of an Iranian fact sheet, and so far 212 have signed it," Javad Karimi Ghodusi, a member of the 290-seat assembly, was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency.

On April 2, Iran and world powers agreed on a framework accord to be finalized by the end of June to rein in Tehran's suspect nuclear program in exchange for the lifting international sanctions.

Only one official statement with limited details was issued at the time, jointly by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.

Later on, however, the U.S. State Department published on its website an outline of some more key issues of the framework.

Zarif criticized the U.S. version, saying on Twitter that "the solutions are good for all, as they stand. There is no need to spin using 'fact sheets' so early on."

Another negotiator, Iranian Atomic Energy Organization chief Ali Akbar Salehi, said the U.S. fact sheet mixed up "truth and lies" and "it could be said that they offered their own interpretation in order to create tension in our country."

Islamic State issues IDs to facilitate militants' movement
[ARA] After dazzling the entire world with its semi-Hollywood team filming barbaric operations, the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group (IS/ISIS) surprised observers with the issuance of identity cards with three-dimensional chip and electronic SIMs to prevent fraud.

The IS newly issued Identity cards, of which ARA News received a photo, are prepared specifically for the group's local and foreign members, according to an IS Death Eater statement to ARA News.

The source pointed out that the IDs are designed to facilitate passage for local and foreign members between djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
(in Iraq) and Raqqa (in Syria) and other areas under the control of the radical group.

"This step is to raise the murderous Moslems' morale, especially following the losses in several areas and amid intensified U.S.-led international coalition Arclight airstrikes against cities and towns held by the group in both Syria and Iraq," a civil rights activist told ARA News in Mosul on the condition of anonymity.

"This could suggest to the group's members that their leadership is still strong and heading towards the institutionalization of the state through the issuance of such ID cards," he added. "They want to convince their Death Eaters that they're capable of overcoming the current challenges."

The Islamic State group had already decided to issue a new currency that reflects its identity as a "sovereign state with an independent economy", according to the group's propaganda.

IS-linked media sources reported that the new currency will be dealt with as an alternative for local and foreign currencies in both Syria and Iraq under the name of dinar; however, the prevailing currency is still the dollar.

Twitter suspends 10,000 accounts linked to IS in 24 hrs
[IsraelTimes] Social media giant says it received numerous reports about terror-promoting users

Social media site Twitter said it suspended over 10,000 accounts linked to Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. members and their supporters in the span of 24 hours for promoting violence online.

Last week, observers noticed that known accounts belonging to jihadists and jihadist-supporters vanished from the site suddenly. On Thursday, Twitter confirmed that it had purged the platform of the accounts for "tweeting violent threats."

According to a report in the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
, experts believe Twitter accounts linked to IS could number in the 90,000.

The site has received "a large amount of reports" about jihadist accounts, according to a Twitter representative who chose to remain anonymous.

IS users regularly post pictures, some of them gruesome, issue violent threats to the West, and communicate with each other; some use their accounts to help recruit potential members.

Terror experts believe IS has been the most successful terror group in using social media tools to disseminate its propaganda.

Twitter, however, is fighting an uphill battle, as many suspended users simply open a new account, sometimes under the same handle with an added number or letter, sometimes under a different one.

Twitter says it has some 280 million tweeting 500 million times a day.
