#1 One other difference. AIP seem to be just fine for any regional area. But fail at the ability to patrol the world. That's the key and important difference. Besides, won't be long before each of subs is more like it's own little task force, probably will be the center of a network of drone subs patrolling silent around it, able to kill any manned sub before it's a danger to the primary.
