Afghanistan
Pakistanis fleeing offensive find new dangers in Afghanistan
[DAWN] Tens of thousands of Paks have sought shelter at a sprawling refugee camp in a volatile region of Afghanistan after crossing the mountainous border to escape a military onslaught against bully boys.
They could just call it an exchange of population, and be done...
For decades Afghans have fled into Pakistain to escape war and upheaval, but in recent months the tide has reversed, with some 60,000 Paks, more than half of them children, taking refuge in the Gulan camp, some 20 kilometers from the border in the restive Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
"We knew the military operations would last a long time once they started," said Malik Omardin, a tribal elder who came from the Pak town of Datta Khel. "It's a mountainous area and the holy warriors are very strong on their own territory, so the government will have a hard time finding and destroying the Taliban."

More than 210,000 Paks have crossed into Afghanistan from the neighboring North Wazoo province since the Pak military launched a long-awaited offensive in June against Taliban and other foreign Death Eaters, who have long used the lawless tribal region as a launch-pad for attacks in both countries.

Eastern Afghanistan is an unlikely refuge. Khost and neighboring Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
, where most of the refugees have sought shelter, are among the most dangerous provinces in the country.

Local security forces have struggled to combat the Taliban following the withdrawal of US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
forces, and the holy warriors are expected to launch a fresh offensive in the spring.

GNC now say yes to dialogue but sets heavy conditions
[Libya Herald] Following the announcement from UNSMIL that the political delegates to the dialogue process who met again in Geneva on Monday and Tuesday have agreed to transfer the talks to Libya, the reconstituted General National Congress has announced that it will now participate.

Ten days ago, Congress said it would join if the talks were held in Libya, suggesting the venue be Ghat, but three days later it announced it had withdrawn the offer, no matter where they took place, because of the attack on Benghazi the Central Bank of Benghazi.

In its statement today, the GNC said they would now be prepared to meet "in any Libyan city".

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
there were a number of conditions which are likely to be rejected by many of the other political delegates as well as those from the municipalities, civil society, the military and others invited to participate by UNSMIL.

HRW demands end to human rights abuses and trial for abusers
[Libya Herald] Human Rights Watch
... During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011, HRW received a pledge from the Foundation to Promote Open Society, of which George Soros is Chairman, for general support totaling $100,000,000. The grant is being paid in installments of $10,000,000 over ten years.Through June 30, 2013, HRW had received $30,000,000 towards the fulfillment of the pledge....
(HRW) has demanded the outside world "press all sides" to end the bloodshed and to bring to justice those who are breaking international human rights
...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions...
law.

In its World Report 2015, HRW Executive Director Kenneth Roth urged governments to recognise that human rights offer an effective moral guide in turbulent times. Violating those rights could spark or aggravate security challenges.

With the outbreak of new armed conflicts and the further collapse of government authority in much of the country, human rights conditions in Libya had a reached their lowest point since the end of the revolt that toppled Muammar Qadaffy
...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later...
in 2011, the report said.

Clashes between armed militias starting in May have killed hundreds of people and displaced hundreds of thousands from their homes. In addition, the fighting has destroyed vital civilian infrastructure and caused severe shortages of food.

"Libya's opposing political factions show utter disregard for civilian lives as they wage war against each other and commit war crimes and other serious abuses with impunity," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa director at HRW.

#1  In a civil war there are no civilians. There are fighters and logistics personnel for each side. Makes it kind of hard to identify the ones that aren't involved.

#2  You an whose army? Cause 4000 years of human history says that's what it will take and I can't think of an army that hasn't been condemned by the likes of NGOs as HRW due to the very nature of 'war', not to be confused with some childish naive fantasy view of the endeavor.

Open Jihad Declared in Egypt Following State Dept. Meeting with Muslim Brotherhood-Aligned Leaders
[FREEBEACON] The Moslem Brüderbund called for "a long, uncompromising jihad" in Egypt just days after a delegation of the Islamist group's key leaders and allies met with the State Department, according to an official statement released this week.

Just days after a delegation that included two top Brotherhood leaders was hosted at the State Department, the organization released an official statement calling on its supporters to "prepare" for jihad, according to an independent translation of the statement first posted on Tuesday.

The statement also was issued just two days before a major terror attack Thursday in Egypt's lawless Sinai region that killed at least 25.

"It is incumbent upon everyone to be aware that we are in the process of a new phase, where we summon what is latent in our strength, where we recall the meanings of jihad and prepare ourselves, our wives, our sons, our daughters, and whoever marched on our path to a long, uncompromising jihad, and during this stage we ask for martyrdom," it states.

Preparation for jihad is a key theme of the Brotherhood's latest call for jihad.

An image posted with the statement shows two crossing swords and the word "prepare!" between them. Below the swords it reads, "the voice of truth, strength, and freedom." According to the statement, "that is the motto of the Dawa of the Moslem Brüderbund."

The statement also invokes the well-known Moslem holy man Imam al-Bana, who founded the Brotherhood and has called for the death of Jews.

"Imam al-Bana prepared the jihad brigades that he sent to Paleostine to kill the Zionist usurpers and the second [Supreme] Guide Hassan al-Hudaybi reconstructed the 'secret apparatus' to bleed the British occupiers," the statement says.

The Brotherhood's renewed call for jihad comes at a time when current Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi is cracking down on the group and imprisoning many of its supporters, who notoriously engaged in violence following the ouster of Brotherhood-ally Mohammed Morsi.

Nigeria's Top Court Orders Release of Hizbullah Suspect
[AnNahar] Nigeria's Supreme Court on Friday quashed the conviction of a Lebanese national who had been sentenced to life in prison for conspiring to import weapons, purportedly on behalf of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
The five judges of the country's top court unanimously ruled that prosecutors made a crucial technical error and should have tried Talal Ahmad Roda in the northern city of Kano, where he was nabbed
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
, rather than the capital Abuja.

"The conviction and sentence of the appellant, consequentially, are hereby quashed," Judge Musa Muhammad said.

Roda was arrested with two other Lebanese nationals last year and charged with terrorism related offenses after a large cache of weapons was discovered at his home in Kano, the largest city in the mainly Moslem north.

Prosecutors said the trio were members of Hizbullah and had been plotting attacks against Western and Israeli targets inside Nigeria.

They were acquitted of the terrorism charges, but the High Court in Abuja found Roda guilty of the weapons offense.

It was not immediately clear if Roda was released from custody after the Supreme Court set aside his conviction.

At the time, the arrests raised eyebrows as Hizbullah was not known to have a presence in Nigeria and many questioned why the powerful Shiite Moslem group would be interested in importing a large stock of weapons into the country.

Senior intelligence officials said they would conduct a probe into possible links between Hizbullah and the turban Sunni group Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, but experts voiced strong doubts that any such ties existed.

Nigeria is home to a large Lebanese community, especially in the north.

Africans Open New Front in War on Terror to Fight Boko Haram
[ABCNEWS.GO] Nigeria has suffered through years of violence from the Moslem myrmidon group known as Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
, and now its neighbors are starting to take on the turbans, too.

African nations are opening up a new international front in the war on terror, discussing Friday the formation of a five-nation force of 7,500 troops to confront the looming regional threat from Boko Haram. The United States promised more technical support, training and equipment.

On Thursday, neighboring Chad sent a warplane and troops that drove the faceless myrmidons out of a northeastern Nigeria border town in the first such act by foreign troops on Nigerian soil.

"We saw the fighter jet when it started shelling and bombarding the bully boys," said Abari Modu, who watched the attack from a nearby village in Chad, where he had sought refuge. He praised the prowess of the Chadian forces.

Chad's victory, and the need for foreign troops, is an embarrassment to Nigeria's once-mighty military, brought low by corruption and politics. The foreign intervention comes just two weeks before hotly contested national elections in which President Goodluck Jonathan
... 14th President of Nigeria. He was Governor of Bayelsa State from 9 December 2005 to 28 May 2007, and was sworn in as Vice President on 29 May 2007. Jonathan is a member of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). He is a lover of nifty hats, which makes him easily recognizable unless someone else in the room is wearing a neat chapeau...
is seeking another term.

The offensive by Chad came days after Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau warned Nigeria's neighbors not to intervene.

"African kings ... I challenge you to attack me now. I am ready," he taunted in an Arabic video message translated by SITE intelligence monitoring service. Shekau regularly praises the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group and al-Qaeda.

Boko Haram has declared an Islamic caliphate that now encompasses about 130 towns and villages in a large swath of northeastern Nigeria, according to Amnesia Amnesty International. The country's 170 million people are split almost equally between a mainly Moslem north and predominantly Christian south.

Arabia
Qaida in Yemen Says France Top Enemy
[AnNahar] The ideological leader of Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula
...the latest incarnation of various Qaeda and Qaeda-allied groups, including the now-defunct Aden-Abyan Islamic Army that boomed the USS Cole in 2000...
(AQAP) said Friday that La Belle France had surpassed the United States as the top enemy of Islam.
Oh noes!!!
With the "weakening" of the United States in recent years, La Belle France has replaced America in the "war on Islam," Ibrahim al-Rubaish said in an audio message published by AQAP's media arm on YouTube.

U.S. intelligence agencies consider AQAP to be the most dangerous branch of the jihadist network.

One of the group's ideologues, Nasser bin Ali al-Ansi, has claimed in a video that AQAP was behind the January 7 attack on French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
that left 12 people dead.

Western governments say it remains unclear if AQAP directly orchestrated the attack on the weekly, although they do believe one or both of the attackers, brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi, spent time with jihadists in Yemen.

AQAP was formed in 2009 after a merger between gunnies in Yemen and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
Rubaish on Friday urged attacks on the West, singling out La Belle France. He also called on Moslems to target, "without consulting anyone", those who mock the Moslem prophet.

AQAP has a track record of launching attacks far from its base in Yemen, including an attempt to blow up an American airliner over Michigan on Christmas Day in 2009.

Deal with Iran at heart of Argentine prosecutor's death mystery

The Grand Turk
Kobane Residents Flow into Turkey's Largest Refugee Camp
[AnNahar] With their town liberated but largely destroyed by battles that drove Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
jihadists out, thousands of Syrian residents of Kobane are settling into Turkey's newest refugee camp for an indefinite stay.

Opened on Sunday just several kilometres from the Syrian border, the new compound near the town of Suruc is the largest refugee camp yet in Turkey, and has begun taking in some of the estimated 200,000 people who fled Kobane after it came under IS attack in September.

Made up of 7,000 tents capable of housing 35,000 people, the camp has been taking in around 1,000 refugees per day, site director Mehmethan Ozdemir told Agence La Belle France Presse.

But given the mass of people currently adrift in southern Turkey and northern Syria, the camp will only be able to house a portion of Kobane inhabitants.

And although IS fighters have apparently been defeated in the border city by Kurdish forces, they remain active in the countryside and authorities have warned residents against returning until the area has been fully secured.

In the meantime, months of intense street fighting and heavy air strikes against IS forces have levelled much of Kobane, leaving displaced inhabitants with little option to setting up home in the Turkish camp.

"They tell us Kobane does not exist anymore," says Adila Hassan, a 33-year-old mother beating a carpet in the newly-constructed camp as her husband looks on.

"We do not know how long we will be staying here. We will return once the town is rebuilt, (but) that's not going to happen soon."

"Return, yes, but not in the near future," agrees Anwar, a 34-year-old school teacher living several tents down.

Yet not all arriving refugees are upset by the prospect of a long stay in the camp that some estimates say cost Turkey tens of million dollars to build.

Covering a 1,000 hectare (2,470 acre) expanse, the compound features solid, furnished tents equipped with mini-refrigerators. It has six schools, two hospitals, shower and toilet facilities, multiple mosques, kitchens providing three meals each days, and even playgrounds.

Part of Turkey's nearly $5 billion dollar effort to care for the nearly 1.7 million refugees that it has received from Syria, the Suruc camp is also issuing "each refugee, no matter their age, a debit card credited with 85 Turkish pounds (32 euros) per month" with which to purchase personal items.

- 'Much better here' -
"We're going to live much better here, (and) we will not be lacking anything," beamed Idam Mohammed, a 55-year-old manual worker as he lead his five-year-old son by the hand in what he calls their new "neighbourhood" in the camp.

"May God bless Turkey for what it has done for us," says Mohammed, who is hoping to encourage some of his neighbours from Kobane to take up residence in surrounding tents in an attempt to recreate Kobane until they can all return to it.

With Turkish forces blocking the border to prevent Kobane residents from returning until the town is safe, there is not much alternative to settling down in the Suruc camps or others in the region.

But even after the all-clear is given, many people from Kobane may decide the scale of destruction makes going back any time soon futile.

"In the current conditions, returning home is simply impossible to imagine," said 36-year-old Cemile Hasan. "Frankly I'd be happy if we could be home in a year. But I'm optimistic in saying that, because we're going to have to rebuild everything."

Camp director Ozdemir says if it takes that long for residents of Kobane to return, that isn't a problem.

"Our guests may stay for as much time as they want," he says, noting the camp was conceived with a longer haul in mind. "They are welcome here."
"And as long as they're here not only can we control them, but they won't be actively supporting the fight against our little pets, the Islamic State," he thought to himself.

Washington Times' Bombshell Tapes Confirm Citizen Commission's Findings on Benghazi
As Hillary Clinton further delays the announcement of her 2016 run for the White House, more news has broken regarding her role in the 2011 disastrous intervention in Libya, which set the stage for the 2012 Benghazi attacks where we lost four brave American lives.

Two new stories from The Washington Times expose some of the infighting among government agencies and branches of government on this controversial decision, and highlight the key role that Clinton played in initiating the war. You can listen to tapes of discussions between Pentagon staffers, former Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), and the Qaddafi regime for yourself.

This news also validates the Citizens' Commission on Benghazi (CCB) 2014 interim report, which exposed that Muammar Qaddafi had offered truce talks and a possible peaceful abdication to the United States, which Washington turned down.

Mumtaz Qadri case file 'vanishes' from court records. Really.
[DAWN] Important records related to the Salmaan Taseer murder case mysteriously disappeared from the office of the attorney general (AG) in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) after the appeal of Mumtaz Qadri ‐ Taseer's self confessed killer ‐ was fixed for hearing last week.

Sources in the AG office told Dawn that after the case was fixed before the IHC division bench, they found that the file that contained Qadri's appeal, his conviction order, police reports and important notes from the prosecutor was not in their records.

Subsequently, at the last hearing of the case on Jan 27, prosecutors had no record related to this case.

The law officer deputed to handle cases in Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui's court had requested the bench to serve a notice on the AG to appoint a dedicated prosecutor for the Taseer's murder case.

When Dawn visited the record room where the file was supposedly kept, an official said that the case file "Criminal Appeal 90 of 2011" was present in the records when the case was heard in Oct 2011 and again in 2012.

He said that someone probably took the file to study the case but did not return it to the record room.

"We have been searching everywhere for the file but have not found it so far," he said.

Former deputy attorney general Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, who was dealing with this case in 2011 and 2012, told Dawn that the file was in the records while he was in office.

"I had examined this file and had argued before the court in a couple of hearings on the basis of the relevant record," he said.

An incumbent deputy attorney general, on condition of anonymity, told Dawn that the file might have been mixed up with other case files. He said that the file would most probably be found, and even if it was not recovered, it could be reconstructed.

An IHC official said that the file could be reconstructed with the help of judicial records. A separate file of this case is also present at the office of the superintendent of police. The prosecution, he said, can get photocopies of the record either from the judicial record or police file.

He said the files in the IHC's judicial record and the police version contained the FIR against Qadri, the police investigation report under Section 173 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) commonly known as the challan, the chemical examiner's report, a list of witnesses, a map of the scene of the crime, the autopsy report, details of case property and reports of forensic experts.

According to him, these documents can be provided to the prosecutors on request.

A law officer pointed out that if the file could not be traced or reconstructed before the next date of hearing on February 3, the case would likely be delayed as the prosecution would not be left with any option but to seek an adjournment.

When contacted, Additional Attorney General Afnan Karim Kundi said he was out of office and could not respond to queries.

Advocate general Islamabad Mian Abdul Rauf, who is most likely to prosecute Qadri when the case comes up for hearing, claimed that he had seen this file in the office of the additional attorney general.

When asked whether the file had been forwarded to the AGI office, he replied that he had not received any files from the AG office so far.

KP govt refers 423 cases for trial by military courts
[DAWN] Authorities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
on Friday referred a list of terror suspects to the federal government for trial by military courts.

The 45-page report contains 423 cases of terror suspects for trial by military courts, which also includes the name of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) chief Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
.

Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
has the highest number of cases -- 116 -- to be tried by military courts, whereas the remaining 307 cases are from other areas of the province.

Most of the terror suspects were charged for attacks on security forces, government buildings, state installations and killing of civilians.

Tehrik Nifaz-e-Shariah Mohammadi (TNSM
...Tehreek-e-Nafaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (Movement for the Enforcement of Islamic Law) is a Pak militant group whose objective is to enforce their definition of Sharia law in Pakistain whether anybody wants it or not. It was founded by Sufi Muhammad in 1992, and was banned by President Musharraf in January, 2002 after Sufi dispatched several thousand yokels to Afghanistan to fight the infidel and ended up with most of them killed or captured and held for ransom. In 2007 TNSM took over Swat, which shows how well the banning worked. TNSM is the Pony League of Islamic militancy..
) chief Sufi Mohammad and Maulvi Faqeer are among other high profile suspects on the list.

A few of the terror suspects are awaiting trial in jail, while many of them are absconders in Afghanistan.

JUI-F chief warns govt against stopping foreign funding
[DAWN] Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
Fazal (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman
Deobandi holy man, known as Mullah Diesel during the war against the Soviets, his sympathies for the Taliban have never been tempered by honesty ...
has warned the government against stopping foreign assistance from being received by Pakistain's religious seminaries.

"The government cannot stop this and if the buildings of seminaries are occupied, we would continue to teach under the shadow of trees," he told the media after chairing a parliamentary committee meeting on Kashmire.

He said the government was taking this action to please the United States which he alleged was creating disturbance within the country.

ME countries providing funds to religious seminaries, Senate told
[DAWN] During Friday's session of the Senate, Minister of State for Interior Baligur Rehman informed the House that Middle Eastern countries namely Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, Kuwait, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
, Iran and the United Arab Emirates were giving aid to religious seminaries in three provinces.

The information was compiled on the basis of a report sent by provincial Inspector Generals (IGs). However,
some people cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go...
Rehman said he would not support or defend the statements made by the IGP on the matter.

According to the report presented before the Senate, 23 religious seminaries in the country are receiving foreign assistance. Out of the 23 seminaries, five belong to the Shia sect and are located in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
.

Other seminaries are based in KP, Sindh and Balochistan and are part of the Sunni sect. No information was given with regards to the province of Punjab. However reports have said that the seminaries in Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

are not receiving any assistance.

Following a demand made by Senator Sughra Imam, Acting Chairman of the Senate Sabir Ali Baloch referred the question to Senate Privileges Committee with directives that IG of Punjab police may be summoned before the committee to explain his position on foreign assistance being received by religious seminaries in Punjab.

The federal minister told the Upper House of Parliament that according to the anti-money laundering law, financial transaction of religious seminaries and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) would be monitored.

The minister further told the House that some NGOs are receiving assistance from the United States, Netherlands and Australia.

Earlier, the opposition also walked out from the proceedings of the House over the absence of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar and Minister of State for Interior.

Later, on directives issued by the chair, Rehman showed up at the house and responded to the questions relating to the Interior Ministry.

The Senate has been adjourned to meet again on Monday at 4 pm.

Israel: US deal will leave Iran with 6,500 centrifuges spinning, months from a bomb
[IsraelTimes] Ratcheting up dispute with Obama, Jerusalem sources tell Israeli TV emerging US agreement puts Tehran 'closer than thought' to nuclear capability

Ratcheting up a confrontation with the B.O. regime still further, officials in the Netanyahu government reportedly claimed Friday night that the US has already agreed in principle to a deal that would leave Iran capable of enriching enough uranium for a nuclear bomb within "mere months."
Goody.
Israel Channel 10 TV news said the deal taking shape would allow Iran to continue enriching uranium in "over 7,000″ centrifuges. It quoted unnamed Jerusalem sources saying the terms of the deal would leave Iran "closer than was thought" to nuclear weapons, "mere months from producing enough material for a bomb," and that the US has agreed to 80% of Iran's demands.

A similar report on Channel 2 news said the US was ready for Iran to keep enriching uranium in 6,500 of its 9,000 centrifuges. It also said that the US was proposing "a time limit" on the deal -- possibly of 10 or 15 years -- after which "Iran will be free to continue a nuclear industry."
Ten years is the maximum for a hudna, a truce made with unbelievers, per Mohammed's example. How nice that President Obama already knows that from his schooldays.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was said to have indicated to confidants that he feels he has "no choice" but to speak out against the imminent deal, including at a controversial address scheduled for March 3 to Congress, Channel 10 said. Netanyahu does not intend to speak against President Barack Obama
I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go...
, or to give a partisan address, or to focus overly on sanctions, but rather to talk strongly against the deal, the report said.

#5  Kojo or whatever your name is/was, the only reason I doubt the Iranians have the bomb already is that it has not been used on us.

The Iranians are not stupid, fanatical yes, stupid no, they understand prevailing winds and fallout and know a nuke launched at Tel Aviv will result in a radioactive plume coming down on themselves.

The only and I mean ONLY logical target of an Iranian nuke is US.

The real Kabuki theater is them pretending to develop an ICBM to deliver the nuke to us. I believe they have developed a means of delivering the nuke to our country through Central American based upon their minions development of close ties with the Mexican cartels.

I believe and I hope I am wrong that a city in the US will disappear within months of Iran having the bomb...provided ISIS doesn't get their hands on a Pakistani one via ISI and the crazy crap tin hats in charge in Pakistain.
Posted by: Bill Clinton || 01/31/2015 13:49 Comments || Top||

#6  Bill and Kojo: the reason Tehran wants a bomb is simple. They will use it to 1) threaten their neighbors and change the behavior of those states towards them and 2) deter the U.S. from bothering them.

People may not remember that while our nuclear weapons deterred the Soviets, their weapons also deterred us. Iran would count on their weapons stopping us from doing certain things in the region that we otherwise would do.

Their weapons would have a substantial effect on the behavior of the small Gulf states. Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, etc, would have to kowtow more to the Mad Mullahs™. The consequences of not doing so would be quite bad. The Saudis would either get nuclear weapons themselves or likewise be put into a compromised situation.

Let Iran possess nuclear weapons and the Middle East becomes more to Iran's liking.

Report: Ex-Gaza Strongman Granted Serbian Citizenship
[AnNahar] Exiled Paleostinian strongman Mohammed Dahlan, a rival of President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
, has been granted Serbian citizenship, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) reported Friday.
You were just wondering what had happened to him, dear Reader, and here we have the answer.
"Dahlan, his wife and four children, a nephew and five key political supporters were all granted citizenship between February 2013 and June 2014," BIRN said.

The news portal provided a link to a page from the government gazette of December 11, 2013, in which the decision to grant Dahlan citizenship was published.

The decision, which was signed by then prime minister Ivica Dacic, went unnoticed until reported by BIRN.

"Dahlan is credited with facilitating Abu Dhabi's promised investment of billions of euros in Serbia," BIRN said, referring to pledges of financing from the United Arab Emirates, including a multi-billion-euro plan to redevelop Belgrade's waterfront.

Dahlan lives in the United Arab Emirates.

The government in Belgrade refused to confirm a link between the passports given to 12 Paleostinians, all linked to Dahlan, and the Gulf country's planned investments, the report said.

Contacted by AFP, a Serbian government front man declined comment.

Dahlan once acted as pointman for Abbas in the Gazoo Strip, where he ran the security forces but he fell from grace in 2007 after the Islamist group Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, drove Fatah from Gazoo following days of fierce street battles.

In June 2011, he was expelled from Fatah's ruling body and also lost his parliamentary immunity following allegations of corruption and murder.

In May, he was sentenced in absentia to two years in jail for defamation.

A trial against him on charges of corruption opened in December in the West Bank.

The US Navy is reengineering commercial oil ships for military use
“MLP is indeed a new class of ship that brings the concept of sea-basing to reality. The platform has two primary capabilities: transfer of vehicles, equipment, personnel and sustainment at-sea from large Navy cargo ships, and delivery of these vehicles and equipment ashore with amphibious connectors. MLPs will provide capability to the U.S. military for large-scale logistics movements from sea to shore, reducing dependency on foreign ports,” Marconi said.

20,000 number of ISIS foreign elements in Iraq and Syria
[IraqiNews.com] On Wednesday, the U.S. Newspaper 'Washington Post' revealed that, the number of foreign elements in the ISIS organization in Iraq and Syria reached 20,000 elements, arguing that the upsurge in the flow of imported muscle is alarming.

The newspaper said in a report published on its website, followed with IraqiNews.com, "The pace of the flow of imported muscle in ISIS ranks in Iraq and Syria has escalated since last October. The estimated number of imported muscle is 20,000 fighters at the time being, with an increase of five thousand individuals in November."

The newspaper added, "The new figures are alarming, and indicate that the conflict of bringing more foreign turbans to the region is bigger than what happened in Afghanistan in the eighties."

Startling revelations: IS operative confesses to getting funds via US
'€œDuring the investigations, Yousaf al Salafi revealed that he was getting funding --€“ routed through America -- to run the organisation in Pakistan and recruit young people to fight in Syria,'€ a source privy to the investigations revealed to Daily Express on the condition of anonymity.

Al Salafi is a Pakistani-Syrian, who entered Pakistan through Turkey five months ago. Earlier, it was reported that he crossed into Turkey from Syria and was caught there. However, he managed to escape from Turkey and reached Pakistan to establish IS in the region.

Sources said al Salafi'€™s revelations were shared with the US Secretary of State John Kerry during his recent visit to Islamabad. '€œThe matter was also taken up with CENTCOM chief General Lloyd Austin during his visit to Islamabad earlier this month,'€ a source said.

Al Salafi also confessed that he --€“ along with a Pakistani accomplice, reportedly imam of a mosque -- was recruiting people to send them to Syria and was getting around $600 per person from Syria.

'€œThe US has been condemning the IS activities but unfortunately has not been able to stop funding of these organisations, which is being routed through the US,'€ a source said.

'€œThe US had to dispel the impression that it is financing the group for its own interests and that is why it launched offensive against the organisation in Iraq but not in Syria,'€ he added.

There are reports that citizens from Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India besides other countries are being recruited by the IS to fight in Syria. Posters and wall chalking in favour of the IS have also been seen in various cities in Pakistan.
