''Zionists spread homosexuality to control world''
BERLIN -- A report in a state-controlled Iranian paper last week asserting that the "Zionist regime" "spreads homosexuality" across the globe in order to pursue its goal of world domination has sparked fierce criticism from experts on Iran because of its homophobia and anti- Semitism.
Wonder what the "Gays Against Israel" have to say about this -- or are they still fixated on pink-washing...
Mashregh News, an outlet affiliated with radical Islamists in Qom, wrote that the US and the UK are using money from Jews to spread homosexuality throughout the world. The article blasted Israel for promoting demonstrations for gay rights and specifically decried Tel Aviv as the gay paradise on earth. It also ridiculed Conservative Judaism for accepting gay rabbis, and urged Western governments to stop people from engaging in gay -- and therefore immoral -- actions, and provide medical treatment for homosexuals in order to stop their conduct.

Dr. Wahied Wahdat-Hagh, an expert on minority groups in Iran, told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday that the article is "against gays, against the West and anti-Semitic." He added that "the text legitimizes the execution of gays in Iran; they made a text not only to ridicule the West but to provide a reason why Iran executes gays."

The Iranian report also attacked Hollywood for depicting gays in positive terms on the silver screen. Moreover, according to the article, schools in California include homosexuality in their education plans because of a recommendation of a Jewish university.

Saba Farzan, a German-Iranian expert in the field of human rights in the Islamic Republic, wrote the Post via email on Tuesday: "This recent attack on human decency by the Iranian regime is tragically not surprising, but these vicious words continue to hurt. Once again this barbaric dictatorship has revealed its hatred towards gays and lesbians as well as towards the State of Israel and Western countries."

"This is especially ridiculous as in the Middle East, Israel is the only state where the gay community is safe and protected," she continued. "The Islamic Republic shows with this uncivilized world view how desperate it actually is."

Police deny role in Rogo killing
[Daily Nation (Kenya)] The police have distanced themselves from last week's killing of Islamic preacher Sheikh Aboud Rogo, saying, the bullets used to commit the murder were not from the force.
"Wudn't us!"
Kisauni CID boss Benedict Kigen told the team investigating the shooting of Sheikh Rogo that the cartridges found at the scene were black, different from what the police issues to its officers.

Policemen use copper bullets, which are different from ammunitions whose catridges were found at the scene, he said.

"Police arrived at the scene five minutes after the incident and we managed to collect 16 cartridges, which were black.

"We have launched investigations to determine where these bullets originated from since such ammunitions are not manufactured in Kenya," Mr Kigen said.
Ah ha! Secret furriner bullets used by spies and saboteurs!!
Sheikh Rogo was killed in a hail of bullets fired by gunnies in Bamburi area last week as he drove his wife to hospital.

His wife and father-in-law, who was with them in the car, were maimed, but their daughter escaped unhurt.

The killing triggered deadly riots in Mombasa, which resulted in the death of three prison warders. (READ: Man charged with murder of three officers in Mombasa)

Some 14 warders and four coppers were maimed in two separate grenade attacks targeting the officers, who protesters alleged were behind Mr Rogo's fatal shooting.

#1  "Ah ha! Secret furriner bullets used by spies and saboteurs!!"

That might just be truer than you think. Whoever hosed down Rogo's car with an AK-47 ... only killed Rogo. His wife had mild injuries, but the family members in the vehicle were all spared. It does not look like random violence. Much more like a targeted hit.

Sudan, South Sudan resume border, oil, security talks
[Al Ahram] Sudan and South Sudan resumed talks Tuesday in the Æthiopian capital, Adis Ababa, to resolve outstanding disputes over oil, border demarcation, security and the Abyei region, negotiators said.

"Oil and economic-related issues, border issues (and) Abyei, these are the issues that are on the agenda," South Sudan's Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Deng Alor, told AFP.

Sudan and South Sudan fought along their undemarcated frontier in March and April, sparking fears of wider war and leading to a UN Security Council resolution which ordered a ceasefire.

EU counter-terror official visits Nouakchott
[Magharebia] Mauritanian Justice Minister Abidine Ould El Kheir held talks last Wednesday (August 29th) with Major General Pierre-Michel Joana, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Special Advisor for African Peacekeeping Capabilities, during a tour of the Sahel region
... North Africa's answer to the Pak tribal areas...
that began with a visit to Mali.

The Mauritanian minister, together with some of his aides, held talks with the security envoy on the mechanisms needed to counter terrorism and organised crime in the region, AMI reported.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
not all details of issues discussed between the EU official and Mauritanian justice minister were disclosed.

"These meetings are very important because they allow regional officials to explore and discuss all aspects of the security picture in Sahel, which has become one of the hottest areas in the world," according to Sahel affairs analyst Moukhtar al-Salem.

"They will also enable Gen. Pierre-Michel Joana, counter-terrorism programme co-ordinator in the Sahel, to listen to Mauritania's declared point of view, which states that the Touaregs' legitimate demands must be listened to as long as the ceiling of demands doesn't reach independence," the analyst added. "This is in addition to the need to preserve Mali's territorial integrity and to avoid a war that doesn't have the support and participation of the entire international community."

For his part, Jérôme Pigné, a French researcher in co-operation between European countries and field countries in combating terrorism, told Magharebia, "Gen. Pierre-Michel Joana's visit proves the importance of co-operation between the European Union and Mauritania which has proven more than once in recent years that it is active in countering terrorism. The visit also reflects the European Union's will to enhance and consolidate its relations with the South Mediterranean countries as part of counter-terrorism efforts in the region."

"The European, especially the French, partners are required to count on the efforts of countries that have shown determination and efficiency in eradicating this phenomenon which threatens the sub-region and European Union countries," the French researcher added.

"The complex and transnational nature of security, political, and socio-cultural phenomena in the region requires serious co-operation of all actors and stakeholders," Pigné concluded.

According to journalist Yacoub Ould Bahdah, Mauritania's role in combating terrorism was "characterised by extreme caution".

Mauritania "doesn't want to intervene in northern Mali and confront the gangs that it has always hunted down deep into Malian soil, he told Magharebia. "It also seems that Mauritania, exactly like Algeria, is not completely opposed to intervention by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in northern Mali."

Fresh corruption investigation launched into Mubarak family

, his wife Suzanne and their two sons, Gamal and Alaa.

The case involves the alleged illegal acquisition of 64 feddans (66.4 acres) of land in Sharqiya in the Nile Delta by the Mubarak family.

A special committee has been formed to investigate the case.

Newly appointed Justice Minister Ahmed Mekki referred the case for investigation after a complaint was filed last week with the general prosecutor.

Al-Azhar not to be source of law in Egypt charter: Spokesman
Wink, wink.
[Al Ahram] A front man for Egypt's Constitutional Assembly tasked with drafting a new constitution has denied recent speculation that Egypt's Al-Azhar would represent a "source of legislation" in the country's new national charter.

In statements issued Tuesday, front man Waheed Abdel-Meguid dismissed rumours that assembly members were considering the amendment of Article 2 of Egypt's existing constitution to make Al-Azhar -- the highest seat of religious learning in the Sunni-Mohammedan world -- a source of Egyptian law.

Article 2 of Egypt's 1971 constitution states that "the principles of Islamic law" should constitute the "principal source" of legislation.

On 28 August, Salah Abdel-Maqsoud, member of both the Constituent Assembly and the Salafist Nour Party, stated that the ongoing dispute over Article 2 should be put to a vote by the assembly's general committee.

According to Abdel-Maqsoud, the vote on the controversial article would be based on three options: firstly, that the article remain as it was in Egypt's 1971 constitution; secondly, the removal of the word 'principles' to make Islamic law itself the main source of legislation; and, thirdly, for the 1971 version of the article to remain as it was, but with an additional stipulation making Al-Azhar an additional source of legislation.

Abdel-Meguid, however, insisted on Tuesday that issues of state and religion had yet to be discussed by the assembly.

During the drafting process of Egypt's first post-revolution constitution, Article 2 has provoked disputes among the various political trends within the Constituent Assembly, with Islamist members demanding the removal of the word "principles" so as to make Islamic Law itself -- and not merely "the principles of Islamic Law" -- the primary source of Egyptian law.

Donors Announce $6.4 Billion in Aid to Yemen
[Yemen Post] Donor countries and organizations pledged to provide $6.4 billion in aid to Yemen during the transitional period 2012-2014, the Yemeni official agency Saba reported on Tuesday.

Other countries and organizations said they will announce their pledges the Friends of Yemen meeting which will be held on September 27 in New York, the agency said.

Yemen is undergoing the two-year transitional period under the power-transfer deal which was brokered by the GCC countries and backed by the West after the 2011 turmoil.

It is seeking about $11 billion to bridge the financial gap based on the transitional program for stabilization and development 2012-2014 as the country is reeling from the unrest that has deepened its woes.

In May, Friends of Yemen held a meeting in Riyadh and pledged $4.24 billion in aid to Yemen but that will be officially given in the New York meeting later this month.

Prime Minister, Muhammad Salim Basindwa, said the Yemeni government will take special measures to use the external aid including the establishment of an international fund to channel and oversee the spending aid on investments and development.

On the margins of the conference, Yemen and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
signed three accords including one under which the Saudi Fund for Development will deposit $1 billion in the Central Bank of Yemen to stabilize the national currency and help the government cope with economic challenges.

The two other agreements were for giving $26 million from the Saudi kingdom, $20 million to help Yemen build a 60-megawatts power plant in Taiz province and $6 million as contribution to the Yemeni health sector.

At a news conference after the first day of the 4-5 September conference, Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf said the pledges should be released soon to help the country overcome all challenges at the moment, according to Saba.

Rights group condemns US drone attacks in Yemen
[Yemen Post] A Yemeni rights group, Hood, has denounced US drones attacks against Yemeni areas, calling the Yemeni government to respect safety and security of its citizens.

It slammed "silence" of the Yemeni government toward the attacks, accusing it of collision with "crimes committed against Yemenis."

It further called for apologizing for the civisms, compensate them and amend wrong policies that led to such crimes against civilians.

Tribal sources had said that two unmanned drones killed on Sunday 13 civilians in Rada'a town of al-Baidha governorate, affirming that three other civilians were seriously maimed and that they were taken to hospital.

They spelt out that t he drones raided two vehicles, pointing out that two women were killed.

Al-Qaeda chief in Rada'a, Abdul-Rauf al-Dhahab was not existed inside the vehicles, the sources added.

According to the sources, three US drones flew over Walad Rabia area located in Rada, singling out that they raised fears among population.

Local sources cited that tribal leaders and figures held a meeting to discuss strikes launched against their areas.

Many Al-Qaeda faceless myrmidons including big shots have been targeted by US drones in Yemeni southern and southeastern regions in the past months. However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
US drones some times miss its target and kill civilians, tribal sources say.

Earlier this year, a group of faceless myrmidons occupied Rada and declared it as an Islamic emirate and they left later after tribal mediations managed to release Al-Qaeda prisoners.

FC to take action against terrorist training camps: Malik
[Dawn] The Interior Ministry has authorised the Frontier Corps in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
to carry out action against terrorist training camps, DawnNews reported.
... but only those of the Baloch Liberation Army...
Interior Minister Rehman Malik
Pak politician, Interior Minister under the Gilani government. Malik is a former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) intelligence officer who rose to head the FIA during Benazir Bhutto's second tenure. Malik was tossed from his FIA job in 1998 after documenting the breath-taking corruption of the Sharif family. By unhappy coincidence Nawaz Sharif became PM at just that moment and Malik moved to London one step ahead of the button men. He had to give up the interior ministry job because he held dual Brit citizenship.
held a meeting today in Islamabad, in which the security situation in the country was discussed.

During the briefing, he said that the Tehrik-e-Taliban are involved in destabalising the security situation in Balochistan.

He said that intelligence reports suggest that there is now a close link between the TTP and Laskar-e-Jhangvi.
... since LeJ has announced it publicly...
Rehman Malik said that a thug from a blacklisted sectarian organization is operating in Punjab. He said that the killing of innocent Shia is being carried out under the auspices of two hard boyz from Harkat-al-Ansar.

When speaking about Balochistan, the interior minister said that officals in Sindh and Balochistan have been given orders to intensify security along the routes leading to and from Quetta.

He said that Mastung has become a hotspot for snuffies and terrorists.

The intelligence agencies have also identified some of the camps of snuffies around that area and accordingly FC is being directed to raid those camps without further delay.

The intelligence agencies also suggested that there is special conspiracy plan to kill Hazaras in maximum numbers to create unrest and chaos in Quetta and adjoining areas.

Ban to Tell UN Syria Situation Grave and Deteriorating
[VOA News] United Nations
...an organization whose definition of human rights is interesting, to say the least...
Secretary-General the ephemeral Ban Ki-moon
... of whom it can be said to his credit that he is not Kofi Annan...
plans to tell the U.N. General Assembly the humanitarian situation in Syria is grave and deteriorating.

Ban speaks to the Assembly Tuesday, where he is expected to appeal for more global funding for U.N. relief efforts in Syria and neighboring countries housing refugees.

A Ban front man says the U.N. chief understands this is a time of austerity in the world, but also a time of great need.

The United Nations says 100,000 Syrians fled the country in August, the highest monthly total since the conflict began last year.

U.N. refugee agency spokeswoman Melissa Fleming says 235,000 Syrians live in refugee camps in Jordan, Iraq, Leb, and Turkey.

But officials say the true number of refugees may be much higher because not everyone has registered with camp authorities.

Also Tuesday, Syrian television reported that Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Leveler of Latakia...
said he supports the work of the International Committee of the Red Thingy in Syria as long as it remains "impartial and independent."

Assad met with ICRC head Peter Maurer in Damascus
...Capital of the last remaining Baathist regime in the world...
Maurer is on a three-day visit to discuss ways to deliver humanitarian aid to Syrians caught up in the civil war. The Red Thingy said earlier Maurer would address the "rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation" and the difficulties which the ICRC and the Syrian Arab Red Islamic Thingy face in reaching people affected by the country's violence.

Robert Fisk is "indoctrinated by Syrian regime"
[Al Ahram] Syrian writer and thinker
I've been thinking about getting a job thinking, too...
Isn't that what programmers do? Ditto analysts, of course...
Yassin Al-Haj Saleh has vehemently criticised British journalist Robert Fisk,
...British journalist who is invariably on the other side of any question. The logic of his prose is so shaky, the ideas so predictable, that he has given his name to the process of mocking a piece of poorly reasoned hackery. He was once beaten up by an Islamic mob and decided they had every right to thump him because he was so Western...
who is the Middle East correspondent of the British daily The Independent,
... still...
for the image that he portrayed of Syrian political prisons in an article published on Sunday, 2 September, titled 'Syria's road from jihad to prison'.

Yassin accused Fisk, who visited Syria this week, of being "indoctrinated"; his article portrays the intelligence officers at one of Syria's most notorious military prison as friendly, agreeing to leave Fisk alone with the prisoners, who Fisk describes as "Islamic jihadists."
"All of them. They hate me. But they have every right to."
"Fisk reflected this view of the political prisons because he was just too embedded in the events, and couldn't see the wider vision; he was indoctrinated," Yassin told Ahram Online from Syria.
"I'm not indoctrinated. Ace reporters like me report the facts. We gotta get the facts someplace. I get them from the Syrian Ministry of Information."
Yassin, who spent 16 years in military prisons in Syria, says that Fisk's description is not related to the facts on the ground.
"Yeah, but he's a jailbird. How can you trust what he's got to say?"
"He visited a prison where all the detainees he met were cut-thoat jihadists who came to Syria from Algeria and Turkey to make big kabooms, and when intelligence agencies arrest them, they do not torture them as we may expect. One of them told Fisk that he's fine, and thanks god for that; another one said that he was tortured for only one day," commented Yassin.
"Well, shucks. What's one day of having your testicles crushed?"
"The detainees are Salafist jihadists and yet the officer leaves Fisk alone to interview them freely." Yassin added, marking the friendly behaviour that Fisk asserted he witnessed from the guards.
"There's nobody friendlier than a Syrian prison guard!"
"Personally, I was tossed in the calaboose
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
for 16 years, for minor charges. The imprisonment conditions were worse; no Western or local journalist could ever have visited me nor any human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
activists. This applies to everyone who was jugged during the revolution, the thing that Fisk never revealed," Saleh argued.
"He probably deserved it..."
The only explanation of the access Fisk got to the prisons is that the Syrian regime guaranteed that Fisk isn't going to reflect this negative image, and made their arrangements with Fisk, who has allowed himself to be misled, according to Saleh.
Robert thought the Talibs were pretty fine, and that al-Qaeda should be left alone. Sammy was great as President-for-Life of Iraq. Pick a dictator and Robert was fine with him.
Saleh, 51, is a Syrian thinker,
I guess I should enroll in thinking school...
writer and former political prisoner, and spent 16 years in the Syrian regime's prisons during the 1980s and 1990s. He is a regular contributor to various Arabic newspapers and periodicals, including a weekly column in Al-Hayat newspaper.
"Well, that explains it. He's been beaten up by Syrian prison guards, maybe, for a day or two. I've been beaten up by a mob of indignant Afghans. And I work for the Independent. He doesn't."
He published two books after he was released from prison in 1997, 'Syria from the shadow: Glimpses inside the black box' and 'Myths of the others: Criticising contemporary Islam and criticising its criticism.' His latest book, released last July, titled 'Salvation boys: 16 years in Syrian prisons', narrates his time in detention in Syria.
But probably Robert didn't use that as a source...

IRGC Commander: Iran is 'Only Power' that Can Secure Gulf
[An Nahar] Iran is the "only power" that can secure the oil-rich Gulf, a Revolutionary Guards commander said on Tuesday, adding that the reinforced U.S. navy presence in the waterway was causing regional instability.

"The only power which can provide for the security in the region is the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran and the world is slowly grasping this issue," said Admiral Ali Fadavi, the Guards' top naval chief, quoted by the website of the Bushehr provincial governor's office (ostb.ir).

Tehran has often denounced the deployment of "foreign forces," especially U.S. ones, in the Gulf.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
its leaders usually assert that "the region's countries" must jointly ensure security. Fadavi's reported comments were unusual in asserting that Iran, alone, should be the Gulf's guardian.

Fadavi's comments were made ahead of September 16-27 war games the United States and 20 other nations are to hold near the Gulf.

The exercises will test abilities to clear waters of mines -- a tactic the United States fears Iran could use to impede oil tanker traffic in the narrow Strait of Hormuz, at the mouth of the Gulf.

Iran has threatened to block that chokepoint if sanctions prevent it exporting its own oil, or if it is subject to air strikes that Israel has threatened to unleash to damage its nuclear facilities.

Washington has warned Tehran that any attempt to close the strait would be viewed as a "red line" -- grounds for U.S. military action.

Two U.S. aircraft carriers are already in or near the Gulf, with a third on the way, a greater-than-normal show of U.S. naval might in the region.

#3  The MSM-Net has lots of Artics today on the on-going increasing violence in Pakistan agz local Shias - taken collectively, it would appear the intent is to gauge how long Sunni Pak's BFF Shia Iran can tolerate the anti-Shia violence, as in Pakistan Shia Muslims are not deemed as true Muslims by mainstream Sunni Pakis.

Iran has the LR Missles, North Korea has the Nuke Warheads?, but Pakistan already has both Strategic + Tactical NucWeaps to deter or retaliate agz external threats.

It should be obvious that Nuke-wannabe Iran is setting up the Regional + Trans-Regional
markers/benchmarks" of desired future Empire or Geopol Dominance.

* TOPIX > PAKISTAN AT RISK OF PARTITION AS ECONOMIC WOES, ETHNIC UNREST CONTINUE.

* BHARAT RAKSHAK > [Dawn.com] NON-MUSLIMS IN TERROR IN PAKISTAN. e.g. Christians + Hindu Minorities.

Christian activists have already called for the creation of their own Christian province - MilBloggers ponder how long for Hindus + other to demand the same???

* Also from SAME > US PRESSURES PAKISTAN ON HAQQANIS AS BLACKLIST DEADLINE LOOMS.

Iff Islamabad doesn't take action, the US will.

* DAILY TIMES.PK > IRAN SAYS IT TREATS ISRAELI MILITARY THREATS AS AMERICAN. No distinction made by Iran between the US, Israel iff Israel attacks Iran.

#3  "America’s troops may be deceived into letting their guard down by the refreshing scent of an incoming rainstorm."

Rainstorm scents around chicken, goat and sheep farms are somewhat less than 'refreshing'. Don't even get me started about pig farms (but those wouldn't be applicable in this case).

#6  The first thread of comments on that site is interesting -- people speculating that the perfume thing is a cover for chemical/biological agent dispersal methods.

I love the perfume bottles in the picture. My mother used to have glass like that, carnival glass. But $70?? Get real.
