Toy Guns Wound 116 People During Eid in Kabul
[Tolo News] Officials from the Noor Eye Hospital in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
said on Monday that at least 116 people suffered eye injuries over Eid on account of toy pellet guns often played with by Afghan children. That number marks an eight percent increase from last year.
Mom told you you'd put somebody's eye out with that.
"We have registered 116 injured people who got injuries to their eye areas as the result of children's toy guns," head of the Noor Eye Hospital Mohammad Yousof Barake said on Monday. "Eight of them were admitted and operated on and the remaining were dismissed after treatment."

Pictures from Afghan families' Eid celebrations across social media often show images of kids playing with toy guns, products imported from abroad that have grown increasingly popular in Afghanistan in recent years.

The parallels between the mock shootouts of Afghan children and the real battles going on across the country are palpable even without the hospitalizations.

But the wave of injuries has helped prompt many parents and toy sellers to think twice about whether toy guns are right for the youth of Afghanistan.

"These toys have good market here, but the government must prevent their import and production," a toy seller in Kabul named Mohammad Mansour said. "We would be happy if this happened," he added.

Afghanistan
Gen. Dostum sets deadline for Taliban militants to surrender
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
has reportedly set a deadline for the Talibs to surrender in northern parts of the country.

Head of the media and communications for the Vice President's Office Sultan Faizi has told Ariana News that Gen. Dostum has set a week deadline for the Talibs in northern parts of the country to surrender and join grinding of the peace processor.

Faizi further added that the steps by Gen. Dostum are taken in coordination with the Presidential Palace.

He ruled out concerns regarding the establishment of militia forces to combat the Talibs and insisted that the recent steps by Gen. Dostum are aimed at improving the security situation of the country.

This comes as Gen. Dostum said Friday he is personally ready to go to the front line to fight the Talibs if the insurgency activities by the Taliban group persist.

During a trip to northern Faryab province of Afghanistan on the occasion of first day of Eid al-Fitr, Gen. Dostum promised to stand with the people of Faryab amid ongoing violence by the krazed killers.

He said the previous policies of the Taliban group is not acceptable and emphasized that he is hopeful regarding the ongoing peace efforts by the government.

This comes as the acting provincial governor for northern Balkh province of Afghanistan Ata Mohammad Noor said Friday that joint operations will be launched to clear northern parts of the country from the krazed killers.

Speaking during a ceremony to mark the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Mazar-e-Sharif city, Noor said the operations would be launched based on an agreement reached with First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum and Second Deputy CEO Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq.

Africa Subsaharan
Obama wants Nigeria to become model for developing nations
[AA.TR] President Barack Obama
I am the change that you seek...
said Monday that the U.S. looks forward to helping Nigeria to become an "anchor" of prosperity and stability in the region.
Right. Biafra as an economic powerhouse. Bring back our brains.
Prior to a bilateral meeting with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House, Obama said he would like to see the African country become a role model for developing countries and that he was eager to find ways in which the U.S. could be helpful in addressing corruption that have stunted the African country's development.

"He's [Buhari] very concerned about the spread of Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
and the violence that's taken place there, and the atrocities that they've carried out, and has a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram and murderous Moslems of all sorts inside of his country," Obama said.

"And he has a very clear agenda with respect to rooting out the corruption that too often has held back the economic growth and prosperity of his country," he added.

It is Buhari's first visit to the U.S. since winning his country's presidential election in April.

He said Nigeria would remain grateful to the U.S. for ensuring the elections were "free, fair and credible," and thanked the U.S. and Europe for their efforts in that regard at a time when the vote was threated by the Boko Haram Lion of Islam group.

"Because there are fundamental objectives that identify all of Nigeria's people's Congress -- security, economy, employment especially of youth, and then fighting corruption," he said.

In the lead up to the election, Buhari said he would fight against krazed killer groups and promised to increase the fight against Boko Haram.

Yes, a miserable failure in fact. The new residents funded, fed, and armed by their former colonial oppressors, began killing and eating the native residents. The pattern might be instructive if it fit the current social narrative, which it does not.

Obama endorses Nigerian leader's agenda for defeating Boko Haram
[Standard Digital (Kenya)] U.S. President Barack Obama on Monday offered strong support for Nigeria's new president, Muhammadu Buhari, saying he had a "clear agenda" for defeating the militant Islamist group Boko Haram and was working to root out corruption.

Speaking as he greeted Buhari on his first visit to the White House since his election in March, Obama said the two leaders would discuss ways to cooperate against the group, which has wreaked havoc in parts of the West African country.

Obama told reporters in the Oval Office that Buhari has integrity and "a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram extremists of all sorts inside his country.

Arabia
UAE imposes harsh penalties for religious crimes
[Al Ahram] The United Arab Emirates on Monday announced new legislation imposing harsh sentences including the death penalty for crimes related to religious hatred and Sunni extremism.

A presidential decree criminalises any act that stirs religious hatred and also prohibits discrimination "on the basis of religion, caste, creed, doctrine, race, colour or ethnic origin".

Offenders risk up to 10 years in prison or the death penalty if convicted of "takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
sm" or Sunni Moslem extremism, according to the text of the decree distributed by the official WAM news agency.

Proponents of such ideology adopted by Al-Qaeda and other radical Islamist groups describe as infidels non-Moslems as well as Moslems who do not share their beliefs.

The oil-rich Gulf state last year brought in strict new legislation and listed 83 groups classified as "terrorist", including the Moslem Brüderbund.

Yemen's Hadi appoints new Aden governor
[AA.TR] Yemeni president-in-exile Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Monday appointed a new governor of the war-torn country's southern Aden province three days after his supporters retook it from the Shia Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
militia.

In a presidential decree issued from Riyadh, Hadi appointed Nayef al-Bakri, a former deputy governor of the province, to the post of governor, according to Yemen's official news agency.

Al-Bakri had been one of the government officials who did not flee Aden when it was overrun by Houthi turbans earlier this year.

On Friday, Khaled Bahah, Yemen's vice-president and prime minister, declared that Aden had been "liberated" from the Houthis and allied forces loyal to ousted President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh
... Saleh initially took power as a strongman of North Yemen in 1977, when disco was in flower, but he didn't invite Donna Summer to the inauguration and Blondie couldn't make it...
Clashes, however, remain ongoing on the outskirts of the city, which is considered the country's commercial and economic capital.

Army chief lauds guard who averted Quetta suicide blast attempt
[Pak Daily Times] Army chief General Raheel Sharif paid tributes to the valour and sacrifice of a private security guard, Talib Hussain, who averted a suicide kaboom attempt late on Friday night in Quetta.

"Talib Hussain daringly challenged the jacket wallah and averted a big disaster when the bomb went kaboom! prematurely," an Inter Services Public Relations statement said. "He was on duty as security guard at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University when a suicide bomber tried to enter inside," the statement added. Talib Hussain lost his life but saved many other precious lives.

At least two people were killed when a suicide bomber attempted to blow himself up near Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University on Brewery road in Quetta. The security guards, including Talib Hussain, had intercepted a suspect who wanted to enter the Eidul Fitr shopping market in Hazara Town. On being asked to stop, the bomber reportedly detonated the explosives, killing two people.

According to officials the bomber was aged between 18-20 years of age and was wearing a full body veil. He was carrying around eight kilogrammes of explosives. Brewery road has high security arrangements because of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University and its proximity to Hazara Town.

The Tiny, Cash-Strapped Agency at the Heart of the Iran Deal
The nuclear-inspection regime in Iran is going to be expensive, among numerousother logistical, technical, and political challenges. In a press conference on Tuesday, following the signing of the final accord, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano estimated that the Iran portfolio has cost his agency $1 million per month since November 2013, when Iran initially allowed limited inspection of certain sites as a condition to launch diplomatic talks. In the same press conference, Amano said it would take some time to budget the costs related to maintaining a pool of some 150 inspectors to deploy to Iran and monitor Iranian nuclear activities from afar.

The problem with all this is that IAEA member states have pressured the agency to rein in spending in recent years. A policy of "zero-real growth" imposed by the IAEA's 35-member state Board of Governors has been in place for several budget cycles. In its 2015 budget report, the agency described a host of activities that it has undertaken to cut expenditures, even as the responsibilities placed on it by countries and international organizations have increased. These included, among other things, introducing a "paper smart" policy and optimizing "the use of technical and office supplies."

Iraq
US man fined in Saddam Hussein family gun plot
[RUDAW.NET] A US restaurant owner has been fined $3,000 for his role in a plot to sell firearms believed to have been owned by Saddam Hussein's family.

Fifty-eight-year-old Carlos Quirola-Ordonez had faced up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine after he pleaded guilty to conspiring to transport stolen firearms.

The investigation into the plot began in April 2012, when federal law enforcement officers learned of plans to sell the weapons.

Seven guns with an estimated value of $250,000 to $350,000 were seized in December 2012. Among the firearms was a .357 semi-automatic pistol featuring a gold medallion "QS." That's presumed to refer to the late Iraqi president's son Qusay.

Quirola-Ordonez and three other defendants pleaded guilty in the case.

Most Israeli Jews favour return of Gaza settlements: Poll
[Al Ahram] Most Israeli Jews favour the reconstruction of a block of settlements in the Gazoo Strip, a decade after Israel withdrew from the Paleostinian territory, a poll published on Monday showed.

Some 51 percent of Israeli Jews said they were in favour of rebuilding the Gush Katif group of settlements, located in southern Gazoo and where more than 8,000 Israelis lived prior to the 2005 withdrawal.

The poll published on the NRG news website of 587 people did not include members of the Arab minority, who represent nearly 20 percent of Israel's population.

Israel evacuated Gush Katif and other Gazoo settlements in 2005 under a plan launched by then prime minister Ariel Sharon.

Israeli authorities have since prevented its citizens from travelling to Gazoo.

The Gush Katif block was the most prominent of Israel's Gazoo settlements.

Two years after the withdrawal, Islamist movement Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, took power in the Paleostinian coastal enclave and Israel tightened its blockade against the strip, which has seen three wars against the strip in the past six years.

Gazoo's 1.8 million population has been hit by grinding poverty and soaring unemployment, while Israel's blockade has been blamed in part for the lack of progress in rebuilding since a devastating war last summer.

Syria regime, Kurds join to fight IS in Hasakeh
[Al Ahram] In two districts of Syria's Hasakeh city, Kurdish fighters and regime forces rest before returning to battle the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. group, a shared enemy being fought jointly for the first time.

Although the two forces are fighting in different parts of the northeastern city, where control is divided between the Kurds and the government, both are necessary to defeat the jihadists.

"We can't fight all alone in Hasakeh because IS attacked in great numbers," a government soldier said, sheltering from the scorching heat in a house surrounded by sandbags in the Ghweyran district.

The capital of Hasakeh province has been spared much of the violence of Syria's conflict, and control of the city has been shared between Kurdish and regime forces for several years now.

But IS has encroached gradually in the province, and made a series of attempts to enter the city, finally succeeding in an operation that began on June 25.

The jihadists seized several southern neighbourhoods and prompted tens of thousands of residents to flee, forcing Kurdish fighters and regime troops into an unofficial alliance to defend the city.

The joint effort has borne fruit in recent days, with fighters from the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) taking territory south of the city from IS, effectively encircling them.

Inside the city, government troops have also advanced.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor, army forces and Kurdish fighters have almost totally encircled IS in the southern part of Hasakeh.

"We've pushed the IS guys out of Ghweyran. There's only a bit left to go," a senior army officer told AFP as he inspected troops in the neighbourhood.

Despite sharing control of the city for several years, never before have the regime and Kurds in Hasakeh have come together to fight IS.

"The Kurds wouldn't have been able to encircle the IS fighters without the weapons we gave them," the officer said.

As he spoke, his parched forces passed around a bottle of water as temperatures hit around 40 degrees Celsius (101 Fahrenheit).

Nearby was the carcass of a boom-mobile, one of many vehicles IS had rigged with explosives or sent into the city with jacket wallahs at the wheel in a bid to take territory.

In central Hasakeh, once home to some 300,000 residents, the front line can seem far away, with traffic moving normally and people shopping.

Some 600 metres (yards) away from the army's position, in the Maaruf district, a dozen Kurdish fighters take a break in a school that has been converted into an assembly point.

Officially, they deny receiving aid from the government, but their weapons are Russian-made and closely resemble those the army is using just down the road.

But they make it clear that they share the same enemy as the government.

"For us, there's a single enemy, and that is IS," said one fighter.

"I would never allow those IS savages to violate my land. I will not stand by idly," said 18-year-old Didar, who is armed with an automatic weapon and begins chanting "YPG, YPG!"

On the first floor, members of the Kurdish female fighting units known as the YPJ watch regime soldiers in the distance through a rifle sight as they advance cautiously through trees towards IS positions.

"Our fighters are continuing their advance towards the east of the city to tighten the siege against IS," said Shirine, whose long dark hair is topped with a bandana.

On the wall of the former school, banners of the YPG and YPJ have been hung alongside a painted rendition of the Syrian flag.

In the skies above Hasakeh, warplanes flown by both regime forces and pilots from the US-led coalition against IS can be seen at different times, scouting for targets.

Washington has insisted that the coalition, which began a campaign of air strikes in Syria in September 2014, will not coordinate with Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

's regime.

But in reality, a YPG officer told AFP on condition of anonymity, "there is coordination on the flights between the Syrian army and the coalition forces."

"They communicate through a Kurdish mediator."

No Eid in Homs, children enjoy collecting empty bullets, shrapnel
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syria's Eid al-Fitr ended with corpse count topped 140 in three days, according to the Syrian Network for Human Rights.

Parents complained that their children are most interested in guns' and rifles' games, as kids made many of them from wood and plastic to play killing and war games. Moreover, parents claimed that their kids' favorite hobby has become collected the left-over empty bullets, shells' and rockets' fragments and trying to know their names and types.

A social and psychological expert told Zaman al-Wasl that children are always the main loser in wars and this has been the fifth Eid without happiness and spirit of Eid. "All psychologists of the world would not be enough treat the effects of the war and killing on the Syrian children during the ongoing five-year war".

Terror Networks
Inside an ISIS camp, children trained in beheading
[RUDAW.NET] The children had all been shown videos of beheadings and told by their trainers with the Islamic State

group that they would perform one someday. First, they had to practice technique. The more than 120 boys were each given a doll and a sword and told, cut off its head.

A 14-year-old who was among the boys, all kidnapped from Iraq's Yazidi religious minority, said he couldn't cut it right. He chopped once, twice, three times.

"Then they taught me how to hold the sword, and they told me how to hit. They told me it was the head of the infidels," the boy, renamed Yahya by his ISIS captors, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named last week in northern Iraq, where he fled after escaping the ISIS training camp.

When Islamic State snuffies overran Yazidi towns in northern Iraq last year, they butchered older men and enslaved many of the women and girls. Dozens of young Yazidi boys like Yahya had a different fate: The ISIS sought to re-educate them. They forced them to convert to Islam from their ancient faith and tried to turn them into jihadi fighters.

It is part of a concerted effort by the snuffies to build a new generation of krazed killers, according to AP interviews with residents who fled or still live under ISIS in Syria and Iraq. The group is recruiting teens and children using gifts, threats and brainwashing. Boys have been turned into killers and jacket wallahs. An ISIS video issued last week showed a boy beheading a Syrian soldier under an adult krazed killer's supervision. Last month, a video showed 25 children unflinchingly shooting 25 captured Syrian soldiers in the head.

In schools and mosques, bandidos bandidos bully boys infuse children with bully boy doctrine, often turning them against their own parents. Fighters in the street befriend children with toys. ISIS training camps churn out the Ashbal, Arabic for "lion cubs," child fighters for the "caliphate" that ISIS declared across its territory. The caliphate is a historic form of Islamic rule that the group claims to be reviving with its own radical interpretation, though the vast majority of Moslems reject its claims.

"I am terribly worried about future generations," said Abu Hafs Naqshabandi, a Syrian sheikh who runs religion classes for refugees in the Turkish city of Sanliurfa to counter ISIS ideology.
