Taliban District Governor Dies in Traffic Accident in Herat
Insh’allah. And because of how he died, no Paradise for him.
[KhaamaPress] Local officials have reported that Asadullah Waris, the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
district governor for "Zindajan" district, and his two security guards died in a traffic accident earlier today.
As district governor, was he in charge of enforcing traffic laws to reduce such things?
Mawlana Naeemulhaq Haqqani, head of the information and culture department of Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
province tweeted that the incident took place on the Herat-Zindajan highway late Thursday night.

Mr. Haqqani has reported that Asadullah Waris and his two companions died in the traffic incident. Officials have reported that over-speeding was the reason behind the incident, however, they avoided providing further information in this regard.

As per the reports, the number of traffic incidents is quite high in Afghanistan, taking the lives of scores of passengers mostly on highways. Experts have linked the high number of traffic incidents to a lack of traffic rules, damaged roads, and careless drivers.

A number of Herat residents expressed their concern over the increase in traffic accidents in the province and called on officials to take measures to prevent such incidents and save lives.

Afghanistan is one of the few countries where traffic rules are not applied leading to a high number of incidents associated with the injury and death of scores of people throughout the country.

Libya PM takes risky bet on US goodwill from Lockerbie handover
[An Nahar] Libya's Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
-based leadership is facing a public backlash for handing Washington a suspect in the deadly 1988 Lockerbie attack, but is betting that the resulting U.S. goodwill can strengthen its hand against rivals.

The attack on a Pan Am jet over Scotland killed 270 people, the deadliest-ever terror attack in Britannia, which took place when Libya was under the rule of dictator Moamer Qadaffy.

Earlier this month, alleged former intelligence agent Abu Agila Mohammad Masud Kheir al-Marimi appeared in a U.S. court on accusations he made the bomb used in the attack.

He could face life in prison if convicted of "destruction of an aircraft resulting in death" and two other related charges.

Masud's handover sparked a backlash against the government of Abdulhamid Dbeibah, which controls the west of the conflict-wracked country but is challenged by a rival authority and forces loyal to military strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly...
in the east.

Dbeibah has faced bitter criticism from political rivals, rights groups and relatives of Libyan detainees who fear being handed over themselves.

Khaled al-Montasser, a professor of international relations at Tripoli University, said Dbeibah "will probably not stop at extraditing one suspect -- others will inevitably follow".

Dbeibah, after admitting that the handover had taken place, said he had acted "with full respect for Libyan illusory sovereignty".

He also denied rumours he was planning to hand over Abdallah Senoussi, who was Qadaffy's intelligence chief at the time of the attack.

"Senoussi will not be handed to the United States, he's in his prison in Tripoli," Dbeibah told Saudi news channel al-Arabiya.

Only one person has been convicted for the bombing, which killed all 259 people on the jumbo jet, including 190 Americans, and 11 people on the ground.

The Libyan state had considered the case closed since 2003, after Qadaffy's regime officially acknowledged its responsibility for the attack, paid $2.7 billion in compensation and handed over two Libyan suspects.

Abdelbaset Ali Mohmet al-Megrahi and Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah were charged with the bombing and tried by a Scottish court in the Netherlands.

Megrahi spent seven years in a Scottish prison after his conviction in 2001 while Fhimah was acquitted.

Megrahi died in Libya in 2012, always maintaining his innocence.

But while a 2008 deal put an end to financial claims for compensation, "Washington never closes criminal cases" concerning its citizens, Montasser said.

Senior member of puppet government calls for dismantlement of Southern Transitional Council
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Member of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Major General Faraj al-Bahsani, on Thursday stressed the need to dismantle the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC ) militia, the most prominent opponent in southern Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
This came during a meeting with the security and military committee tasked with integrating the rival factions affiliated with the Saudi-led coalition in southern and eastern Yemen.
The meeting was chaired by al-Bahsani.

Media reported that al-Bahsani called on the committee to end the division in the ranks of these factions and re-establish them according to national foundations.

Al-Bahsani’s demand comes amid tension in Hadhramaut his most prominent stronghold, following the STC’s attempt to blow up the situation militarily there.

Activists described the meeting as a message from the presidency to the STC that there is no retreat from the decision to dismantle its factions.

Calling Off Ceasefire, TTP to Launch Attacks Across Pakistan
[KhaamaPress] Tehrik-e-Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
Pakistain (TTP) has ordered its top commanders to resume attacks across the country on Pak security forces after calling off their months-long ceasefire with the government of Pakistain.

The peace talks suffered several deadlocks as Pakistain’s government refused to fulfill TTP’s demand, which included the release of TTP’s key operators in major terrorist attacks in Pakistain, and the withdrawal of Pak forces from former tribal areas.
Release? Kill em.
Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, the interior minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had hosted the peace talks between Pak Taliban and Lt General Faiz Hammed, the then Corps Commander Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
. This was aimed at easing tension between the Taliban and Pak government over the use of Afghan soil for the activities of the TTP.

The grinding of the peace processor failed after months resulting in deadlock as the TTP was reluctant to its demand if accepted, which would have undermined the illusory sovereignty of Pakistain.

The murderous Moslem group has intensified its attacks targeting Pak security personnel and headquarters across the county. According to the Pakistain Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), the TTP carried out 282 attacks in 2021, which resulted in the deaths of 500 law enforcement personnel, followed by another 42 attacks in January 2022.

After ending their ceasefire with the government of Pakistain, the TTP conducted several fatal attacks in December alone, causing to the death and injury of scores of security personnel and civilians. These terror attacks took place in Islamabad, Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, and Peshawar respectively. The TTP and other murderous Moslem groups pose an eminent threat to the internal security of Pakistain. to counter this threat, Pakistain needs to formulate a comprehensive strategy by using public sentiment against the terror groups — to indemnify, prevent and prosecute them, TTP members, in particular. Furthermore, the Pak government needs to increase the number of security officers in Tribal areas and closely patrol the newly fenced border with Afghanistan. Doing so would not allow the terror group to increase its domain operations and conduct cross-border activities.

Sindh Authorities Report on Afghan Illegal Migrants in Karachi Prisons
[KhaamaPress] Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon on Friday spoke to the media on the status of Afghan female illegal migrants colonists after drawing criticism on the photograph of minors behind bars that went viral on social media.

While addressing to the media, Memon said 129 Afghan female illegal immigrants colonists were jugged

in Sindh province — with 178 children but insisted the minors were inmates, not prisoners.

Memon further added that illegal migrants colonists including Afghans, Nigerians, and Bangladesh nationals were detained throughout the country, and they will be treated based on the established rules and regulations of the Pak government.

This comes as the photograph of minors behind bars went viral on social media, drawing criticism from activist muppets, politicians, and refugee advocacy organizations — describing it as insane and inhuman.

United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Pakistain expressed its utmost concern after seeing the images and reports of the arrest and detention of Afghan refugees in Sindh province, particularly Bloody Karachi

Meanwhile,

the Embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad asked Pak government officials to release Afghan detainees which include men, women, and children. Despite many promises Islamabad authorities have made in this regard, Afghan migrants colonists detained for not having legal documents, are still not released, Afghan Embassy tweeted.

Naseer Ahmad Faiq, the Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the United Nations called on the United Nations to take immediate action following the image of minor Afghan detainees behind bars going viral on the internet.

Following the return of the Taliban

to power in August 2021 in Afghanistan, Pakistain witnessed another influx of Afghan refugees most of whom entered the country without visas or other legal documents through the Torkham and Chaman land routes, now facing critical challenges.

Iraq
Trial of suspect in Iraqi security analyst assassination adjourned to March
[Rudaw] The trial of the main suspect in the killing of Husham al-Hashimi, an Iraqi security analyst, was adjourned to March on Thursday, with the court failing to issue a verdict on the case over two years after the liquidation.

Hashimi was shot full of holes outside his home in east Baghdad's Zayuna neighborhood in July 2020 by masked assailants on a cycle of violence. His liquidation was widely condemned by both the Iraqi and international communities.

A family relative of Hashimi told Rudaw’s Hastyar Qadir that the reason for the adjournment is that the suspect’s lawyers have asked the court to summon a number of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) members to testify that the accused was on duty at the time of the liquidation.

The trial has been adjourned to March 8, 2023.

The suspect, police officer Ahmed al-Kinani, was arrested in July 2021 and confessed to carrying out the liquidation. Eight court sessions on the case have been held since September 2021, but the court is yet to convict Kinani of the murder.

Born in Baghdad in 1973, Hashimi was a leading security expert, member of the Iraq Advisory Council and advisor to the US-led coalition against the Islamic State

Iraqi activist muppets are frequently targeted by militias and gangs in the country.

East Jerusalem man with Islamic State ties charged over deadly twin bombings in city
[IsraelTimes] Prosecutors say Eslam Froukh decided in September to carry out attack, detail intricate preparations he made to carry out bombings and attempt to escape

Prosecutors on Friday charged a Paleostinian resident of East Jerusalem affiliated with the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) terror group for a fatal double bombing attack in the capital last month.

In the attack on November 23, Eslam Froukh, 26, allegedly set off bombs at two bus stops near entrances to the capital. The attacks killed two people — 16-year-old Aryeh Schupak and 50-year-old Tadese Tashume Ben Ma’ada — and maimed over 20.

Froukh was charged with membership of a terror group, the use of weapons for the purposes of terror, aggravated murder and attempted murder through terrorist acts.

Prosecutors requested Froukh remain in police custody until the end of legal proceedings.

According to the indictment, Froukh, a resident of Kafr Aqab in East Jerusalem who lived much of the time in the Ramallah area, committed the attack because of his loyalty to IS.

As a holder of an Israeli residency card, Froukh was not hampered by the same restrictions on movement that apply to West Bank Paleostinians.

Froukh studied mechanical engineering in Israel, and used his knowledge to teach himself how to make the bombs used in the attack, the indictment said.

He established a laboratory near Ramallah where he could produce and test the explosives necessary to build a bomb, according to prosecutors.

Froukh decided in September to carry out an attack, according to the charges. He purchased the required products and produced eight kilograms of kaboom at his lab.

As part of his escape plan, Froukh bought a used cycle of violence, repainted it and tried to scratch off the chassis number to disguise it. He also hid a change of clothes along Route 1 towards the Dead Sea in the West Bank.

On the night before the bombings, Froukh rode his bike to the scene intending to place three explosives across two attack sites, planning to detonate one bomb and then another as security and medical forces treated the victims at the scene.

After noticing a technical problem with one of the bombs, he decided to combine it with one of the others to create a more powerful explosive, and placed it at the Ramot Junction, an entrance to Jerusalem. After that, Froukh traveled to Givat Shaul Junction, the main entrance to Jerusalem, and placed the other bomb.

Froukh then followed his escape plan and collected his change of clothes that he placed earlier. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
his cycle of violence broke down while driving in the Judean Desert and he was forced to crash it near the Bedouin hamlet of Khan al-Ahmar.

He then scattered his clothes, his helmet, a gun and remaining explosive charges in the area. In the days after the attack, security forces near the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim found the discarded belongings.

According to the charges, the first explosion occurred prematurely at Givat Shaul, shortly after 7 a.m. during peak commuter hour, where Schupak and Ben Ma’ada were killed, and over 20 were maimed.

Five people were lightly hurt by shrapnel or suffered from anxiety in the second explosion at Ramot Junction, shortly after 7:30 a.m.

According to the prosecutors, a day after the attack Froukh sent a message on the Telegram messaging app to Nasher news, which carries IS news releases, to claim responsibility for the bombing.

The bombings came amid heightened tensions, following a series of Paleostinian attacks that have left 31 people in Israel and the West Bank dead since the start of the year.

New developments in possible relations between Zionist entity and Saudi Arabia
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The outgoing Israeli Prime Minister, Yair Lapid, revealed on Thursday that "there are new developments in terms of Zionist-Saudi relations."

Hebrew media quoted Lapid as saying before the Knesset, "We started a dialogue with the Saudis that will allow flights over the kingdom’s lands and the arrival of worshipers to Mecca."

He added, "Most importantly, we laid the foundations for Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s accession to the normalization agreements, and if the new government continues on this path, it will be possible to reach normalization with Saudi Arabia."

Last Thursday, Benjamin Netanyahu, the designated Israeli Prime Minister, said that the peace or normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia would facilitate reaching a Paleostinian-Zionist "peace" agreement.
