Afghanistan
Established in Exile; Norway-Based Afghan ‘Chashm News Network’ Starts Broadcasting
For information.
[KhaamaPress] A group of Afghan journalists in exile have established the "Chashm News Network," a new news organization based in Norway that broadcasts and publishes news from Afghanistan, the region, and the world.

The Chashm News Network officially began broadcasting on Sunday, December 11 in three languages: English, Persian, and Pashto.

The newly established news channel is founded by a group of Afghan journalists based in Europe, the US, and Afghanistan, and is led by Sharif Hassanyar, the former CEO of Ariana Media House.

In a newsletter, the Chashm news channel stated that it is committed to the values of free expression, social justice, human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
, women’s rights, the rule of law, and civic values.

According to the news release, the Norway-based Chashm media outlet presently broadcasts in three languages and will soon start broadcasting in Norwegian.

While many Afghan media outlets have closed since last year as a result of attempts to muzzle and censor the media as well as other issues, new ones have formed and function externally.

The government in Afghanistan has imposed a series of restrictions since rising to power last year, including a mandate that female broadcasters cover their faces while on air.

This comes as another group of Afghan journalists in the US recently launched "Amu TV," a channel that began airing on August 1 this year in three languages (Dari, Pashto, and English).

Sicht TV is another independent online TV channel recently created by three journalists from Afghanistan living in Germany, which broadcasts in Persian and German languages.

Sheesha Media, founded by Aziz Royesh, is another Afghan media organization based in Canada that was established in exile and covers political, social, and economic issues with the aim of educating people about democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of human rights.

Somalia prepares second phase of anti-Al-Shabaab offensive after gains
[Garowe] After the historical liberation of several villages in the Adan Yabal district, the government of Somalia is crafting what it calls the "second and final" phase of the war against al-Shabaab
...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them...
, which is set to commence "very soon" across the federal republic of Somalia.

For over four months, the country has sustained a serious al-Shabaab offensive which has been fought in all frontlines, with the target being Middle Shabelle and Lower Shabelle, focusing on hotbeds such as Hiiraan, Galgaduud, and Bay regions, where the forces of Evil are dominant.

Major Abdullahi Ali Anod, Somali National Army [SNA] spokesperson, said the capture of Adan Yabal was a "milestone" in the offensive against the krazed killers, noting that "this gives every Somali a reason to believe that defeating the forces of Evil is something which is in the offing".

Most combats have been carried out by the Somali National Army and clan militia which is well mobilized, nobody can deny the role played by the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS], which is responsible for aerial surveillance and bombardments in strategic villages.

So fruitful and fulfilling has been the war that the al-Shabaab extortionists have resorted to retreating in certain towns, and have even killed fellow fighters who are maimed in the operation. Last week, the Somali troops managed to discover fresh mass graves where top commanders are said to have killed and buried colleague fighters.

The forces of Evil are now embarking on Dire Revenge missions mostly targeting populous areas in major cities, particularly Mogadishu where they are using IEDs to attack hotels. The forces of Evil recently killed dozens of people at Villa Rays Hotel near the presidential palace in Mogadishu.

Regional leaders have joined the frontline, helping the national army to strategize and identify some of the villages which should be given priority in the ongoing crackdown. For instance, HirShabelle President Ali Gudlawe Hussein has been working closely with the armed Forces.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud exuded confidence that the soldiers will prevail in the war, noting that the world should not just focus on the negatives and misgivings in the country but instead, give the country moral support and financial assistance to sustain efforts to restore law and order

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The defense persuaded the court to add to the case the testimony of Abu Umar Sasitlinsky about Rizvanov
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court in the case of Abdulmumin Gadzhiev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev agreed to add to the materials the testimony of the preacher Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, in which he refuted the investigators' version of Rizvanov's involvement in the financing of terrorism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 11, it became known that Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the Ansar Foundation, who was accused of financing terrorism along with Abdulmumin Gadzhiev and Kemal Tambiev, said during interrogation that he became a co-founder of the foundation at the suggestion of preacher Israil Akhmednabiev (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky ), but he only formally participated in the activities of Ansar.

Earlier, on October 20, a secret witness under the pseudonym "Dzhigurda" was interrogated in court. The testimony given to the court by "Dzhigurda" contradicts his written testimony at the stage of pre-trial investigation, Abubakar Rizvanov drew attention. The witness himself explained the contradictions by the fact that he no longer remembers the details.

ABUBAKAR RIZVANOV CLARIFIED HIS PRE-TRIAL TESTIMONY
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don finished interrogating the defendants and admitted the testimony of Abu Umar Sasitlinsky to the case. The preacher, who left Russia a long time ago, denied all accusations, the Memorial Human Rights Center reported in his telegram channel Full HRC 2.0.

The meeting took place on December 8, at which the testimony of Abubakar Rizvanov, which he gave to the investigation in 2019 and 2020, was read out. “A total of four protocols were read out. The testimony from them generally coincided with those given by Rizvanov in court at previous hearings. They spoke about Rizvanov’s relationship with Israil Akhmednabiev and about the participation of the defendant in the Ansar charity foundation.

Rizvanov did not object to the announcement of the protocols “On the contrary, he believes that they reinforce the position of the defense,” the publication says.

The process in the case of Gadzhiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev is also covered by the publication "Chernovik", whose journalist is Gadzhiev. As of 13.50 Moscow time on December 11, there are no publications on the website and in the telegram channel of the publication about the meeting held on December 8.

In particular, the protocol of Rizvanov’s interrogation dated June 14, 2019 stated that after the registration of the Ansar Foundation in 2013, Israil Akhmednabiev published the bank card numbers of Karim Aliyev (Rizvanov’s brother) to collect donations, and in a few months about 100,000 dollars with which Akhmednabiev went to Syria on a charitable mission.
That’s not chicken feed... or perhaps it is, for an army of chickens...
After the announcement of the protocol, Abubakar Rizvanov partially agreed with the testimony, but clarified that he gave the testimony immediately after the arrest and, due to a stressful state, erroneously reported some details during interrogation. In particular, according to him, Akhmednabiev collected this money even before the foundation was created, and thus, neither Abubakar Rizvanov nor Karim Aliyev had anything to do with their collection.

The protocol also stated that Rizvanov's card regularly received funds from the fund - approximately 300-400 thousand rubles a month. Commenting on these testimonies, Rizvanov stated in court that he did not receive the fund's money on a permanent basis on his card: there were only a few such transfers when Karim Aliyev's card exceeded the monthly cash withdrawal limit. Rizvanov stressed that he himself did not take any part in the collection of money, and Akhmednabiyev disposed of all the incoming amounts.

The editor of the Chernovik newspaper Abdulmumin Hajiyev, the head of the Ansar charity fund Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev have been accused of financing terrorism. Investigators believe that they collected 68 million rubles and 200 thousand dollars for the terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.

The investigation connects the defendants with Israil Akhmednabiev, a Dagestan preacher and founder of the Mukhadzhirun Islamic Foundation,
... Mukhadzhirun apparently means ‘Living Heart’, for what that’s worth. Apparently the foundation and Mr. Akhmednabiev have been connected to fundraising for ISIS...
known as Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, who has been put on the wanted list in a terrorism case. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

After the interrogation of Abubakar Rizvanov, the court completed the interrogation of the defendants, and Rizvanov filed a motion with a request to investigate and attach to the case file the protocol of the lawyer's interrogation of Israil Akhmednabiev. "The preacher was questioned by lawyer Umalat Saygitov in Istanbul with the participation of a Turkish lawyer. A video of this question was also attached," Memorial reported.

THE COURT ATTACHED TO THE CASE THE TESTIMONY OF THE PREACHER IN FAVOR OF RIZVANOV
According to the protocol, Akhmednabiyev denied accusations of participation in terrorist organizations. He said that he received offers to join the Islamic State*, but when his representatives learned that Akhmednabiyev discouraged people from going to Syria and participating in IS*, he began to receive death threats from members of the organization. Akhmednabiyev stressed that he is against this terrorist organization, and his position corresponds to the position of Sunni scholars.

Akhmednabiev said in a survey that he was engaged exclusively in charitable activities, and in seven years he managed to build 8,500 wells, 77 schools and 210 mosques. According to him, the founder of all the funds affiliated with him was himself, and his Living Heart fund (the former Mukhadzhirun fund) received money, including from the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, and other famous people .

Israil Akhmednabiev also rejected the version that Abubakar Rizvanov participated in banned organizations.
“Pshaw! And again, sir, I say to you pshaw! Perish the thought”
According to the preacher, the defendant did not have any authority in the fund, and he had nothing to do with the construction of the hafiz school. After Ansar was liquidated, relations between Akhmednabiev and Rizvanov ceased.

Abu Umar Sasitlinsky's telegram channel, which has 13,200 subscribers, regularly publishes information about his charitable activities, such as building wells for African Muslims. At the same time, back in 2015, the preacher categorically denied the assumptions about his involvement in the activities of banned organizations.

"They started accusing me of recruiting someone after it became known that several of my fellow villagers, three of whom are my relatives, left for Syria, allegedly under my influence. Of course, this is absurd and slanderous," - quoted from an interview with a preacher on December 13, 2015, the Voice of Islam website.

In the same interview, Israil Akhmednabiev emphasized that he went to Syria exclusively "with humanitarian aid." "Hundreds and thousands of people with crippled destinies, which nobody cares. Seeing all this, we together created a fund whose goal from the very beginning to this day is to help these unfortunate people," he said.

The prosecutor in court objected to the fact that the protocol of the interrogation of Abu Umar Sasitlinsky was attached to the case file. In his opinion, this is not a procedural document, since the explanations were taken by a lawyer, moreover, outside of Russia, and the court cannot assess the contents of this document.

In turn, the defense explained that the lawyer was authorized to take explanations. The court agreed with the position of the defense and attached the interrogation protocol and its video recording to the case file. The next meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2023, Memorial reported.

Recall that on September 22, Abdulmumin Hajiyev stated in court that the version of the investigation about his cooperation with Abu Umar Sasitlinsky was unfounded. He explained that he only interacted with the preacher once when he was interviewing.

#1  Note the presence of Ansar charities in the study, above" All such charities are suspect because Bin Laden's first move to unite the Afghan-Arab mujahideen in a single movement was initiated in Afghanistan in February 1988; At the time Bin Laden, Zawahiri of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, Rahman Khalil of Ansar Pakistan, the Islamist Bangladeshi Abdul Salem Muhammad, and Abu Yassir Ahmed Taha, representing Arab North Africa (the Maghreb), agreed to coordinate their efforts to continue their jihad through an "Islamic Struggle Front." Ansar next surfaced in Bangladesh, and shortly after the Islamist war for Bosnia began the Ansar emerged in Daghestan. Thereaftr it was active throughout the "Caucasian Knot."

#3  Thank you, Herman. Very informative.

There's an ansar foundation called Majlis Ansarulla in Maryland too. Has a whole lot of seemingly moderate Islamists but at least one bastitch called Umayd N. Something who is known to us as a friend of bad guys. Recruiter, most likely. And facilitator, sponsor of immigrants from Mohammedland. Of course telling the feebs is pointless.

#4  One needs a certain caution with the use of Ansar, as it relates to the followers of Muhammad. (In the Sudan the Ansar where the followers of the Mahdi.) Nevertheless, Ansar has special significance in Al Qaeda circles. Bin Laden's first camp for the training of Islamist arriving for battle in Afghanistan was called the Sidda. It was founded with the notable Shaykh Azzam. However, he would break free of the Azzam influence and establish a second, and this time Islamist, training base, the Masadat Al Ansar (Lion's Den), inside Afghanistan.

Iraq
A ‘worrying’ outcome.. the number of drug users increases continuously in Iraq
[Shafaq News] Over the past three years, the number of suspected drug users and dealers has steadily increased. While the relevant security services stress the need for everyone to work together to eradicate drugs, specialists identify the factors contributing to their spread and call for establishing specialized clinics to address this situation.

Due to its proximity to nations where drug cultivation and trafficking are common, Iraq has recently emerged as one of the countries where drugs are widely used, particularly in southern cities like Basra.

Daily operations by Iraqi forces against the drug trafficking networks have resulted in the detention of thousands of traffickers and addicts, significantly aiding the containment of drug import networks.

TARGETTING BIG DEALERS
Colonel Bilal Subhi, the General Directorate of Drug Control's media director, stated to Shafaq News Agency, "Despite its limited capacity, the Directorate is working hard to tackle drug crimes. According to recent orders from Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari, it is working to target prominent narcos and has suffered numerous martyrdoms and injuries in the process. It has done this in collaboration with all security services."

According to a statement, the interior minister had dismissed the director of drug control in Basra. The statement stated that the decision was made "for his failure to perform the duty and tasks entrusted to him". The minister emphasized in another statement that "drugs are no less dangerous than terrorism and must be vigorously fought."

According to Subhi, "the number of those arrested on drug charges is constantly rising compared to prior years. For example, it reached 7,500 in 2020, 12,800 in 2021, and in 2022 it reached 13,700 defendants."

By contacting the General Directorate for Drug Control's toll-free hotline, 178 for all of Iraq's governorates, citizens played a key role in the operations to dismantle such criminal groups."

He expressed hope that "everyone will cooperate in fighting this crime alongside the Ministry of Interior and educating the community to curb it, from the family and school to the media and civil society institutions, as well as the tribes."

Moreover, Interior Minister held an extensive conference in the presence of tribal elders last week, in which he stressed that "the authentic Iraqi tribes are the ones who have preserved civil peace and are the safety valve in Iraqi life," urging them to "help fight phenomena that are alien to Iraqi society, including drugs."

VARYING USERS RATES
"The numbers of drug users vary among state institutions themselves; the Ministry of Interior says that half of the young people use drugs, while the Ministry of Education says that the number of student users is less than 10%," said Ali al-Bayati, a former member of Iraq's High Commission for Human Rights.

"If we accept the lowest of these estimates, which is the Ministry of Education's claim that there are approximately one million drug users in Iraq, dealing with them is surely not that simple," he continued.

"As a result, the country has to establish dozens of clinics with solid infrastructure, staff, and competencies to handle this file," he said, adding that "Iraq has a massive deficit of trained staff in this field."

Similarly, the Iraqi Ministry of Health reported that since the start of 2022, 4,500 drug addicts had been treated. According to the ministry's mental health adviser Imad Abdul Razzaq, "the most common users are between 15 and 30 years old."

Abdul Razzaq added, "institutions and centers for addiction treatment are available in all governorates, and the ministry intends to construct more of them."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Erdogan tells Putin to 'clear' Kurdish forces from northern Syria
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important...
told Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
on Sunday that it was imperative the Kremlin "clear" Kurdish forces from northern Syria.

Erdogan has been threatening to launch a new incursion into northern Syria to push out Kurdish forces he blames for a November kaboom that killed six people in Istanbul.

A 2019 agreement between Moscow and Ankara ended another offensive by setting up a 30-kilometre (19-mile) "safe zone" to protect The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
against cross-border attacks from Syrian territory.

Erdogan accuses Russia -- a key player in the Syria conflict which backs Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
The Scourge of Hama...
-- of failing to follow through on the deal.

Erdogan told Putin in a phone call it was "important to clear the (Kurdish fighters) from the border to a depth of at least 30 kilometres," his office said.

Erdogan stated it was a "priority", the Ottoman Turkish presidency said.

Some of the Kurdish forces are stationed in areas under Russian military control.

Others have been fighting with the United States against jihadists from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group.

The Kremlin confirmed the 2019 agreement was discussed in the call.

"The two countries' defence and foreign services will maintain close contacts in this regard," a Kremlin statement said.

Both Moscow and Washington have been putting diplomatic pressure on Ankara not to launch a new ground campaign.

Turkey has been pummelling Kurdish positions near the border with artillery fire and dronezaps since November 20 in response to the kaboom.

But it has not yet poured in any major forces to support ones it already has stationed in the area.

Kurdish groups deny involvement in the Istanbul attack.

#1  It seems that Erdogan is now the tail that wags the Russian dog. Putin's failure in the Ukraine (regardless of future outcome) will have a substantial and negative impact on Russian foreign policy for years to come.

'More Iranians at imminent risk of execution'
[The Nation (Pak)] Several Iranians were on Sunday at risk of imminent execution over protests that have rocked the country’s holy manal regime, rights groups warned, after an international backlash over Iran’s first hanging linked to the movement. The almost three-month protest movement was sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, who had been arrested by the Islamic republic’s morality police.

It is posing the biggest challenge to the regime since the shah’s ousting in 1979. Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
calls the protests "riots" and says they have been encouraged by its foreign foes. Authorities are responding with a crackdown activists say aims to instill fear in the public.

Iran on Thursday executed Mohsen Shekari, 23, who had been convicted of attacking a member of the security forces. Rights groups said his legal process, which they described as a show trial, was marked by undue haste.

Iran’s judiciary has reported that 11 people received death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
s so far in connection with the protests, but campaigners say around a dozen others are facing charges that could see them also receive the death penalty
. Unless foreign governments "significantly increase" the diplomatic and economic costs to Iran, the world "is sending a green light to this carnage", said Hadi Ghaemi, executive director of the New York-based Center for Human Rights in Iran (CHRI).
