Missions Trip Disaster: Students Arrive To Find Tribesmen Already Christians
[Babylon Bee] UGANDA‐Well, this isn't good. After students at Bungee Xtreme Youth Group spent the past six months pestering their friends and family to help fund their missions trip to Africa, they arrived this morning to discover that the tribesmen had been converted to Christianity in the fall.

"Ugh. Back to the drawing board," youth pastor Vince "Code Red" Montana said. "I thought for sure no one had gotten to these guys yet. I guess I was looking at the map wrong."

According to a spokesperson for the tribe, a competing youth group at the Methodist church across town had beaten Bungee Xtreme Youth Group to the punch, arriving several months ago and converting all the tribespeople to Christ as well as building them 17 separate shoddy buildings they don't actually need.

"Friggin' Methodists," Montana muttered under his breath.

The missions trip wasn't a total waste, however, as students are still going to spend the next three weeks sightseeing and playing fun games as originally planned.

Guatemala Intel Minister: Migrant Caravans Are Chicago NGO ‘Well-Planned events,' Not Spontaneous
[Breitbart] Guatemalan head of intelligence Mario Duarte said during a visit to Washington Tuesday that the migrant caravans heading to the U.S. southern border are "well-planned" and "well-organized" by those wanting to "weaponize those in need."
Doing the politically incorrect work our own IC has no intention of doing, and we know why. Thank you Mario.
"This was not a spontaneous event. It was well-planned. It was well-organized," Duarte, head of the Secretariat of Strategic Intelligence of Guatemala, said at an event hosted by the Center for a Free Secure Society at the National Press Club.

He said different intelligence, law enforcement, and military agencies found evidence that the October caravan from Honduras to the U.S. ‐ which at one point contained about 40,000 migrants ‐ was organized in advance.

There was a call on October 5 in Honduras for citizens to join a "massive migration walk to the United States," he said. "We detected logistical preparation throughout Guatemala and Mexico, to be able to bring all these people to the U.S. southern border."

He said the main organization behind the caravans was a non-governmental organization based out of Chicago, called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, led by organizer and pastor Emma Lozano.
"Hope and Change" people? Could there be a connection ?
"They started working with Honduran, Guatemalan, and Mexico counterparts," he said. "The organization was impressive to say the least. They used mainly [social media apps] WhatsApp and Facebook."
Any chance we could possibly learn who is funding these people ?
He said Bartolo Fuentes, a Honduran activist, was the main leader of the caravan on the ground, and that he came into Guatemala beforehand to scout and send money to places migrants could stay as they moved through Guatemala towards Mexico. Duarte said the group also connected with international NGOs like Oxfam.

#1  Emma Lozano is a left-wing activist, founder and president of the illegal immigration advocacy group Centro Sin Fronteras (“Center Without Borders”), executive director of migrant caravan organizing group Pueblo Sin Fronteras, and a pastor at the Lincoln United Methodist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Along with her husband, co-pastor Walter “Slim” Coleman, Lozano is involved in two other advocacy organizations closely connected with caravans of migrants in Central America seeking to enter the U.S. illegally.

Lozano is the sister of the late Rudy Lozano, a left-wing activist and community organizer in Chicago noted as a “fighter for immigrant [and] worker rights.”[1] She has called for “a moratorium to stop deportations” of illegal immigrants in the United States, saying that “We need to change America, we are all America.”

#3  Curious about the late Rudy Lazano? Here's the link, bet you knew or suspected all of this already:

Like President Obama, Rudy Lozano, the other namesake of the award, was also a community organizer in Chicago. He was credited with bringing Latino voters to support the former mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington. Lozano was later shot to death in his home by Gregory Escobar for allegedly failing to pay off a $7,000 drug debt.

According to the Chicago Tribune, at a tribute event held at the University of Chicago for Lozano, “Richard Barnett, an aide on Washington’s mayoral campaign, said it was people like Lozano who built the foundation for Barack Obama’s historic run for the presidency.

It seems the groundwork of Lozano and Davis that Barnett spoke of did indeed play a role in advancing Barack Obama’s political career. And in 1996, New Party News lists both Obama and Davis as members of the far left-wing branch of the Democrat Party, the “New Party.” After working within the New Party, Davis had won his Democratic primary for U.S. Congress in the Illinois 7th District and Barack Obama had won his primary for Illinois State Senate.

Ah, contraire. The Army and the Air Force (its spinoff) can not act in police capacity IAW Posse Comitatus Act*. It can be used in suppressing rebellion and insurrection. See - LA riots. The usual procedure is to detain till a federal or local law enforcement agents takes possession of any miscreants. We won't go into martial law (New Orleans 1814, the Hawaiian Islands December 1942) .

* they sort of skipped the Navy and its men's department, the Marines. Back then there were few Marines, mainly on ship duty. Now they're nearly an entire small army in and of themselves.

AMAZON Will Pay $0 IN FED Income Taxes for 2nd Year In A Row With Profits Doubled
Corporations do NOT pay taxes, consumers pay taxes.
[Daily Caller] Amazon will pay $0 in federal income taxes for the second year in a row after its total profits doubled from $5.6 billion in 2018 to $11.2 billion in 2019.

Amazon’s corporate tax filings reveal a federal income tax rebate of $129 million, or negative one percent because of unspecified tax credits and a tax break, according to a report from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.

"From 2011 to 2016," Politifact explains, "Amazon reported a total $8.2 billion of pre-tax income and $944 million in federal income taxes, which amounts to a tax rate of 11.4 percent in the last five years."

#1  The burden of taxation is build into the cost of the product just like the corporate electric bill or insurance costs. The costs are passed along to the consumer.

Consequently the consumer gets taxed twice. He pays a sales tax when he purchases the product and he pays a second time in a hidden, built-in corporate tax. If the product requires some sort of licensing fee, the consumer pays once again. If the licensing fee is 'annual' the taxing of the consumer never ends.

The consumer pays on both ends. Where else can the dollars come from ?

#3  The only problem is that Amazon's competitors will not have this perfect federal extortion level.

Amazon should pay the government for the land title it uses and the value of protecting it's brand in the U.S. not for doing something useful to consumers.

#4  Corporations do NOT pay taxes, consumers pay taxes.

Shareholders pay taxes on dividends and capital gains.

However, given the propensity of corporations to own and operate congresscritters with serious consequences of corporate welfare and *&%#!! bailouts, corporations should be stuck with something similar to the FDIC charges that banks pay for 'insurance'.

#5  some of this is tax deferral which is allowed for many legitimate reasons

some is the result of accelerated depreciation of business equipment

some is the result of moving funds from overseas to the USA

in many ways it would be more efficient to abolish the corporate income tax and instead have a VAT but of course that would be dangerous as the govt could slide the VAT up over time and then reintroduce the corporate tax again

#6  because of unspecified tax credits

I'll specify it for everyone - it's a net operating loss from prior year(s) where taxable income in a current year is offset by a loss / losses from a prior year. It's the same thing that was mentioned repeatedly about Trump's tax return from the mid 1990's, so don't go hyperventilating about the 'pay their fair share' bullshit - you're then just playing the left's game.

#8  And thus the problem with the system. The big near monopolies get the tax benefits and secure their monopoly status. If they don't get the tax benefits they move to another state/country where they will and those jobs will be lost. Eventually they get so big they have to be busted up.

#9  They just bailed on NY

After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens. For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term. While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.

We are disappointed to have reached this conclusion—we love New York, its incomparable dynamism, people, and culture—and particularly the community of Long Island City, where we have gotten to know so many optimistic, forward-leaning community leaders, small business owners, and residents. There are currently over 5,000 Amazon employees in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island, and we plan to continue growing these teams.

We are deeply grateful to Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio, and their staffs, who so enthusiastically and graciously invited us to build in New York City and supported us during the process. Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio have worked tirelessly on behalf of New Yorkers to encourage local investment and job creation, and we can’t speak positively enough about all their efforts. The steadfast commitment and dedication that these leaders have demonstrated to the communities they represent inspired us from the very beginning and is one of the big reasons our decision was so difficult.

We do not intend to reopen the HQ2 search at this time. We will proceed as planned in Northern Virginia and Nashville, and we will continue to hire and grow across our 17 corporate offices and tech hubs in the U.S. and Canada.

Thank you again to Governor Cuomo, Mayor de Blasio, and the many other community leaders and residents who welcomed our plans and supported us along the way. We hope to have future chances to collaborate as we continue to build our presence in New York over time.

#16  A VAT would make raising taxes extraordinarily easy. And the "bribes/favors" to move a product from one tax category to another would be out of sight, since the dirty work would be done by bureaucrats.
Actually, now that I think of it, unless the House managed the minutia of a VAT, you could argue that it would be unconstitutional.

Senator Graham: Take Border Deal as a ‘Down Payment' and ‘Build This Damn Wall'
[Breitbart] Late Wednesday, shortly before the text of a Senate and House conference committee bill was released that if passed would prevent another government shutdown on Friday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) offered advice for President Donald Trump regarding construction of a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Graham urged the president to use fund allocated by the last Congress for potential border wall construction, in addition to the $1.375 billion offered in the conference committee proposal.

"Take this as a down payment," Graham said. "Go into the defense bill and move money around like Congress allowed you to do last year, and build this damn wall. $5.7 billion is what he wants. The difference between $1.375 [billion], find on your own, declare a national emergency because it is and move the money around and secure this border."

Is Mueller taking orders from Russia?
[AmericanThinker] Has Robert Mueller been secretly working for the Kremlin this whole time? Probably not, or at least not in this scenario of his Russian collusion case. Though he was an integral part of the sketchy deal that delivered a considerable amount of uranium to Russia, and as I'm forever the silver-lining kind of girl, it would be charming if Democrats came full circle and investigated Mueller for his own involvement with Russia.

Anyway, top Democrats are already throwing their own gladiator to the lions as they prepare for the results of Robert Mueller's almost two-year probe to reveal nothing provocative against President Trump. Early Tuesday, media began preparing viewers by reporting the nothingburger with "breaking news" segments and headlines like "Senate has uncovered no direct evidence of conspiracy between Trump campaign and Russia." With Congress's own investigation wrapping, House Intel Committee chair Adam Schiff took to Meet The Press on Sunday for some pre-emptive damage control, stating that Mueller's extremely extensive inquisition just hasn't been adequate.

It should be noted that according to Adam Schiff, he may be obstructing the investigation...himself. Back in mid-January, he issued this statement after Trump commented on the Mueller witch hunt:

Integrity of our process to serve as an independent check on the Executive Branch must be respected by everyone[.] ... The President should make no statement or take any action to obstruct Congress' independent oversight and investigative efforts.

How sanctimonious. Early February's Adam Schiff attacked Mueller, having no proof that the accusations leveled against the president are true could mean only that independent overseers didn't do their job right. The California Democrat really wants us to believe that it couldn't be possible that Trump actually didn't collude with Russia; he is guilty, no matter what, because who cares about the Fifth Amendment right to due process?

Even though the investigation is supposed to be sealed, Schiff has found some ability to gather secret intel regarding the Mueller probe before, even justifying his own leaks to the press. So the despot's panic is probably justified even, if he knows we know he shouldn't know whatever he knows yet.

Democrats are on the edge of losing the altar that has been unifying devotion from their base. Instead of realizing that the pro-American candidate, who has held and continues to hold rallies that draw massive crowds, won because of democracy, they have chosen to worship a golden calf that has falsely promised secret backdoor ties to the boogeyman Russia and inevitable impeachment.

Can Any Of These Democrat Goofs Beat Trump?
[Townhall] The only way the last couple weeks could have been better is if one or more of the Democrats announcing for president had moonwalked out onto the stage in blackface ‐ oh wait, screechy scold Liz Warren actually did worse than that.

...These libs always side against you. Always. Let the criminals in, but disarm you, because too few illegal aliens and your ability to defend yourself are America’s biggest problems. Remember back when Democrats were the party of the workin’ man? Now the Democrats are the party of the non-gender specific being with a job in Silicon Valley or Manhattan, and the unwilling-to-be-workin’ man, woman or other.

...And then there’s Kamala Harris, who turned an affair with Willie Brown into an entire political career. She was a big fan of Tupac and Snoop in college, which she attended before Tupac and Snoop were whatever the hell they were. Oh, she smoked pot too, because she’s cool and the kids love their hemp and isn’t she relatable? Leave it to the Democrats to go all in on the one drug that makes you lazier, dumber and less interesting.

...And then there is Cory Booker, who is a vegan, as if you need to know more. His state of the union would be 25% on how we need to raise taxes, 25% on how the weather in a couple centuries will kill us all, and 50% on how tofu is just as tasty as a rib-eye if you cook it right. The only way he could be worse is if he was also into CrossFit.
It's all very well, but we live in an age when "The best lack all conviction, while the worst/Are full of passionate intensity."

How the Left Embraced Elitism
[New York Times] The progressives' Green New Deal centralizes power.

Over the past generation, global capitalism has produced the greatest reduction in human poverty in history. Over the past 10 years, American capitalism has produced 20 million new jobs. The productive dynamism of capitalism is truly a wonder to behold.

But economic growth alone is not enough. Growth alone does not translate into economic security for the middle class and the less skilled. Growth alone does nothing to reverse the social decay afflicting communities across America.

This reality is transforming the political debate ‐ and shifting everything leftward. Among conservatives there are now a bevy of thinkers who are trying to find ways to use government to reduce inequality, promote work and restore community.

For example, in the lead essay of the conservative journal National Affairs, Abby M. McCloskey notes that the family you are born into and the neighborhood you live in have a much stronger influence on your socioeconomic outcome than any other factors. Her essay is an outstanding compendium of proposals designed to strengthen family and neighborhood.

Pell grants could be used to pay for vocational and apprenticeship training and not just for college. The federal government could support a voluntary national service program by paying people, once in their lifetime, to work for a year at a local nonprofit. The tax code could be tweaked so that people with no income tax liability could receive a cash credit for making charitable donations.

These proposals are activist but humble. It’s not the federal government centrally deciding how to remake your community. It’s giving communities and people the resources to take responsibility and assume power for themselves.

As many conservatives have shifted leftward, so have progressives. From Bill Clinton through Barack Obama, Democrats respected market forces but tried to use tax credits and regulations to steer them in more humane ways. Obamacare was an effort to expand and reform private health insurance markets.

Dem Congress Person Ilhan Omar In Action: A Sickening Disgrace
[Powerline] Ilhan Omar questioned Special Envoy for Venezuela Elliott Abrams at a House Foreign Relations Committee hearing. As Max Boot observes elsewhere on Twitter, she doesn’t seem to realize that Abrams is a leading advocate of human rights and democracy‐not a promoter of genocide. She does seem to know, however, that Abrams is a supporter of Israel and the member of a suspect "faith tradition." Related: The Spectator USA’s Dominic Green channels a day in Omar’s life. Note: The staffers who wrote the questions that Omar can barely read must be something like Communist relics of the Cold War era.
Congratulations Minnesota voters, they're now... 'inside the wire'.

#1  I'm sure none of this had anything to do with the fact Abrams is Jewish.

#7  Rep Omar is currently scheduled to speak at a Los Angeles CAIR fundraiser in late March.

I'm thinking of contributing to her campaign fund and encouraging her to do this. Everyday she is in the news is another day the Democrats can't get their messaging out the door because Omar gets the spotlight

'Suppression,' Debunked: Study Concludes Voter ID Laws Do Not Depress Voter Turnout
[Townhall] One pillar of dogma among leftist activists is that voter ID laws, under which citizens are required to present a valid form of identification in order to cast ballots in elections, amount to insidious and racist forms of "voter suppression." That term deserves to be placed in scare quotes because it's often employed as a catch-all phrase to describe any policy or idea that liberals believe would reduce their chances of winning. Voter ID laws have been upheld by the Supreme Court as constitutional, and enjoy overwhelming public support -- including approval from large majorities of racial minorities, who evidently don't share the professional Left's racialized hysteria. We've written previously about how, if reducing turnout among certain populations truly were the goal of such laws, they've failed miserably. This example out of Georgia comes to mind:

#4  Shame on Townhall for being another news outlet that doesn't make the distinction between LEGAL and ILLEGAL crystal clear, especially in the headline. It should have read " . . . Study Concludes Voter ID Laws Do Not Suppress LEGAL Voter Turnout." Its the same problem with immigration stories that lump legal and illegal into the same category.

#6  "Voter suppression"--another phony narrative the Dems created. Why not just declare the Dem Party a crime organization and investigate them under RICO?

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Rojava and Turkey: A classic case in colonialism
[Rudaw] Kurdish-dominated areas of northern Syria are at the forefront of Ankara’s neo-Ottoman, imperialist designs for the Near East. To prevent another disastrous war in the region, the international community must support the Kurds’ right to self-defense and self-determination.

As the United States prepares to withdraw militarily from Syria, one of the biggest questions is that of the Kurdish presence in the north ‐ known as Rojava. When the Syrian Civil War began, the Kurds focused on two main things.

First, they developed a system of autonomy ‐ given their history of persecution under the Assad regime. Second, they turned their guns (with Western support) on ISIS and other Sunni jihadi groups. After aligning themselves with moderate Arabs in liberated regions, much of the territory held by jihadists has been clawed back and is under the rule of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
