FBI Expands Felony Probe in Clinton E-mail and 'false statements.'
[National Review] The polls may look great right now for Hillary Clinton, but a deepening criminal investigation into her use of a private e-mail system while she was secretary of state underscores how fragile her lead really is.

On Thursday, Fox News reported that multiple intelligence sources claim the FBI has broadened its probe into the former secretary of state's potentially negligent handling of classified information. The nation's top law-enforcement agency is now also investigating whether Clinton or her surrogates made "materially false" statements to federal officials regarding her private e-mail system.

#4  But Nixon didn't have the palace guard in the form of the corrupt media running cover for him either. Or a corrupt Department of Justice either. Where is that special prosecutor anyway?

#5  Special prosecutor is on Congress. BTW, what are the Congress critters doing except feeding at the public trough?
Posted by: Sven the pelter || 02/13/2016 13:47 Comments || Top||

#6  Another problem... The GOP leadership would rather see Hillary win than Cruze or Trump, so they aren't likely to do anything to knock her out of the primary.

#7  If true, this removes Clinton's DoS foil and renders her dismissive inter-agency scrum talking point to squat. It also will dispatch with any of the contractor's non-disclosure agreements that have stymied congressional inquiries. Add in Bubba's foundation and one wonders how much stank the O-Team would be willing to absorb?

Harry Reid calls on Democrat facing ethics scrutiny to drop Senate bid
[CNN] Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid
... the charismatic senator-for-life from Nevada, currently majority leader ...
is calling on Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Florida, who is under scrutiny for ethics violations related to a hedge fund he runs, to drop his bid to replace Sen. Marco Rubio in the Senate, charging the congressman has "no moral compass."

"Grayson claims to be a progressive, but it seems like he has no moral compass. These deeply troubling allegations should disqualify anyone from a seat in the U.S. Senate," Reid said in a statement a day after the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
reported on emails and internal details of the operation of the fund under the headline: "Hedge Fund Role Intrudes on Lawmaker's Day Job."

"Alan Grayson used his status as a congressman to unethically promote his Cayman Islands hedge funds, and he should drop out of the Senate race immediately. His actions aren't just disgraceful to the Democratic Party, they disgrace the halls of Congress," Reid's statement said.

It's unusual for a top party leader to weigh in on an internal primary fight. In this case, it's no secret that Democrats in Washington regard Grayson as an unpredictable and potentially problematic candidate due to his high profile divorce fight and reports about his business dealings. But the public rebuke is tough and a sign that top Democrats in Washington are worried Grayson could diminish chances for Democrats to pick up the seat.

DCCC Gives Up on Multiple House Races
[FREEBEACON] In announcing its most promising candidates challenging Republican congressmen this year, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) effectively admitted that it has given up on winning three House races in the 2016 election.

On Thursday, the DCCC unveiled the first members of its "Red to Blue" program, designed to highlight promising Democratic candidates running in Republican-held districts. In sum, 31 candidates and districts make up the list for this election cycle.

Notably absent from the list are the Democrats running in three districts held by first-term Republicans that the committee pledged to target one year ago.

In February 2015, the DCCC unveiled its "One-Term Wonders" list, profiling 15 "vulnerable" freshmen Republican congressmen that it would scrutinize leading up to the 2016 election. Three of those "vulnerable" Republican districts--Arizona's 2nd district, Illinois' 12th district, and Pennsylvania's 6th district--are not being challenged by the "promising" Democratic candidates listed in the "Red to Blue" program.

The DCCC also appears to have pulled its website for the "One-Term Wonders" candidates, a possible acknowledgment of its failure to target the first-term Republican representatives.

The DCCC's "Red to Blue" candidates in 2014 had a combined record of 4 wins and 36 losses.

UPDATE 3:55 P.M.: An archived version of the DCCC's "One-Term Wonders" website shows that two additional Republican-held districts that the committee intended to target in 2016 are not among the districts being challenged by its "Red to Blue" program candidates. This indicates that the DCCC has given up on winning a total of five House races in 2016.

Republican Jim Gilmore to Suspend Presidential Campaign
[FREEBEACON] Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore announced on Friday that he will be suspending his presidential campaign, according to the Washington Examiner.
The campaign nobody seemed to notice...
"My campaign was intended to offer the gubernatorial experience, with the track record of a true conservative, experienced in national security, to unite the party," Gilmore said. "My goal was to focus on the importance of this election as a real turning point, and to emphasize the dangers of continuing on a road that will further undermine America's economy and weaken our national security."

"Nonetheless, I will continue to express my concerns about the dangers of electing someone who has pledged to continue Obama's disastrous policies and I will continue to do everything I can to ensure that our next president is a free enterprise Republican who will restore our nation to greatness and keep our citizens safe."

Porn star 'extremely disappointed' to be cut out of Cruz ad
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The porn star inadvertently featured in Texas Sen. Ted Cruz's recent campaign ad is speaking out after the ad was taken down once Cruz's campaign realized what she did for a living.
I'm really confused here...
"Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in ... #moretocome #myvotecounts," Amy Lindsay tweeted late Thursday night.
Okay. I looked at the vid, and she had all her clothes on, and she was on-screen for maybe ten seconds.
She also vented her frustrations on Facebook early Friday morning.
When I'm frustrated I... ummm... don't think about Facebook.
"Anyone who knows me or knows my 'work' knows it is rated R... Jeez," she said. "I told the rags that I thought it was cool that I could be socially liberal & fiscally conservative. I'm voting republican period. I honestly saw the 'left's' war on women tonight!!
Rated "R" means she showed her boobies? Like on "Game of Thrones" or something like that?
"Unbelievable....So much for me staying out of political posts...but in the spirit of someone else: if they attack or defame me...hey I'm fighting back!"
Good for you.
The ad in question was released Thursday and called "Conservatives Anonymous." The spot features seven people, including Lindsay, sitting in a circle and expressing their regret for supporting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
The ad itself was pretty stoopid...
It was pulled once the Cruz campaign found out that Lindsay had appeared in multiple adult movies.
But they were rated "R"?
"The actress responded to an open casting call," Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told BuzzFeed News. "She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad."
Obviously. For a while there I thought Ted Cruz was a better idea than Donald Trump.
As of last night, Lindsay said she was still choosing between Cruz and Donald Trump for her vote in the 2016 presidential election.
I dunno about her, but my mind's made up.

Albright: 'Special place in hell' comment came at 'wrong time'
[THEHILL] Former secretary of State Madeline Albright is softening her controversial comment that there's a "special place in hell for women who don't help each other" in a New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
opinion piece released Friday afternoon.

Albright has received significant criticism for making the remark while campaigning for Hillary Clinton
... sometimes described as The Heroine of Tuzla and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another George C. Marshall ...
. In the op-ed, Albright said she now understands that she "came across as condemning those who disagree with my political preferences."

"I have spent much of my career as a diplomat. It is an occupation in which words and context matter a great deal. So one might assume I know better than to tell a large number of women to go to hell," she writes.

"I absolutely believe what I said, that women should help one another, but this was the wrong context and the wrong time to use that line. I did not mean to argue that women should support a particular candidate based solely on gender."

She added that she's made the comment a number of times in the past because she believes that "in a society where women often feel pressured to tear one another down, our saving grace lies in our willingness to lift one another up."

Albright's comments came days before the feminist icon Gloria Steinem said during an interview that young women may be supporting Sanders in order to meet "boys." Those comments sparked a strong backlash, and Steinem aplogized.

Trump is the anti-Obama in every way
[SPECTATOR.ORG] In February 1980 the Republican establishment said that a staunch conservative Hollywood actor could never be president ‎and he won two landslide elections. Trump isn’t Reagan — but he’s one of the most talented retail politicians in modern times. For nine months everyone has been underestimating this man, saying that he was surely going to go away. He’s not going away. He’s rising and proving his critics on the left and right dead wrong. That’s Reaganesque.

#7  An appallingly low percentage of my posts get green lighted, so I'll put this here. Probably the best dissection of the Trump phenomenon. Written by Charles Murray - long and well worth the read. An except:

"But the central truth of Trumpism as a phenomenon is that the entire American working class has legitimate reasons to be angry at the ruling class. During the past half-century of economic growth, virtually none of the rewards have gone to the working class. The economists can supply caveats and refinements to that statement, but the bottom line is stark: The real family income of people in the bottom half of the income distribution hasn’t increased since the late 1960s."

Trump leading in South Carolina
[Iran Press TV] Two new polls show presidential front-runner Donald Trump is ahead of his rivals in South Carolina, a state that is expected to be a vital stop in the Republican primary process.

According to a poll released by Georgia-based Opinion Savvy on Friday, the business mogul is leading the Republican field with 36 percent support in the state.

He is followed by Iowa caucus winner Sen. Ted Cruz, whose support stands at 19 percent in the poll.

Sen. Marco Rubio and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have 15 percent and 11 percent of support respectively, the poll revealed. They are followed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 9 percent and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson
... a neurosurgeon who is under the delusion that being brilliant qualifies him to be president....
with 5 percent.

Another poll conducted by South Carolina House Republican Caucus on Friday showed that Trump leads the field there holding 34.5 percent support.
