Jihad will cease being the answer when it is regarded by most people (including Muslims) as a crime against humanity, and anyone advocating it is treated as an outlaw and disposed of accordingly. We have a very long way to go.

Jihad will cease being the answer when Muslims leave Islam in droves and loathe it. Jihad is the unofficial sixth pillar of Islam and it is told explicitly in Koran that it guarantees automatic salvation. There is no way to be faithful to Islam and reject Jihad. Those who reject it are lying to themselves about Islam.

An excellent article worth reading. I gotta agree with the author:
Jihad they want and jihad they will get; death they want and death they will get; a generation of warfare they want and a generation of warfare they will get. They will fail and their claims will be seen to be hollow. Unfortunately, it will take about 50 years for that to happen. The result? Arab and Muslim-majority countries will be left even further behind the rest of the world.
I agree with the 50 year estimate, based on the fact that the Elites will take 40 before they catch a clue.

They're not scared because we don't want them to be scared.
The current strategy calls for serving the enemy people, attending to their needs, winning hearts and minds. It doesn't call for moves that would intimidate or frighten the populace.
Whether that's a wise choice in the long run remains to be seen.
