-Lurid Crime Tales-
Champ To Meet With UCC Shooting Families -€“ Still No Contact With Kate Steinle's Family
[Pirate's Cove] As Mr. Obama is preparing for more executive action on guns, which will surely only affect the law abiding citizens, rather than the criminals who use guns (hey, how are things in your hometown of Chicago, PBO?), he's going to use the families of those killed by Christopher Harper-Mercer as political props

(Breitbart) President Barack Obama will travel to Oregon this week to visit privately with families of the victims of last week's shooting at a community college.

Obama will visit Roseburg on Friday as he opens a four-day trip to the West Coast. No additional details about his visit were immediately available.

First of all, we will see how serious Obama is about this by the number of fundraisers he attends, which are surely the primary reason for this West coast swing. Rarely is a big trip like this a last minute thing. He's simply adding the visits in serendipitously.

Second, for all his bluster, he never called or visited the family of Kate Steinle, murdered with a gun by an 5 time deported illegal alien, Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who was also convicted previously of 7 felonies. Interestingly, the gun used was stolen from a federal agent's car, not purchased at a "gun show" using the "loophope".

Nor has Obama ever visited with the families of others killed by illegal aliens. Nor the families of the doctors killed by a US airstrike in Afghanistan by military members under the control of...wait for it...the Obama administration.

Obama has renewed his call for stricter gun laws following the shooting and has expressed exasperation at the frequency of mass shootings in the U.S.

It's interesting how most of these have happened while he was president. Say, where were all the visits and comments on all the people, including US federal agents and Mexican children, killed by the guns members of his administration "walked" into Mexico?

Afghanistan
Pakistan's Afghan predicament
[DAWN] THE fall of Kunduz seems to have set in motion a domino effect with the Afghan Taliban forces threatening to overrun the other neighbouring northern Afghan provinces. Baghlan could be the next. Fierce fighting is also reportedly raging in Badakhshan and Faryab as the Afghan government forces face their most serious test yet. The residual US forces can hardly be expected to stop the Taliban advance from the militia's traditional stronghold in eastern and southern Afghanistan. The bombing by US jets on a Médecins Sans Frontières hospital in Kunduz that killed and injured scores of people has only served to further alienate the local population.

The battle for Afghanistan may be far from over, but the latest development is a grim reminder of what has long been feared. Can a fractured Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
administration withstand the growing bully boy offensive with diminishing Western interest in the war-torn country? The prospects are bleak.

The Russian infringement of Turkish airspace is bigger than it seems
[RedState] One of the many dangers of the grotesque lack of leadership shown by the Obama administration is that it gets a lot of people killed and raises the risk of a multi-national armed conflict breaking out for not particular policy end. This is not a case of Napoleon's dictum about it being necessary to break eggs to make an omelet. Rather this what the Obama administration is engaged in is the equivalent of randomly throwing eggs from a speeding car because you are bored.

Just as a refresher, this is the rough outline of areas controlled by the various factions in Syria. Keep in mind that the Kurds are supposed to be friendly forces.

So many possibilities for starting a crisis.

#9  Actually, it's fairly easy. You start by electing a feckless, spineless POTUS with a huge ego who was totally unqualified to be POTUS. That POTUS then proceeds to bow and apologize to mideast potentates and blames America for everything wrong in the world. His bona fides include having a mother who was a communist and a father who was a Muslim and a mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, who was a communist. Hang around with a few neighborhood terrorists from the '60s, worship at the altar of Saul Alinksy (along with HildaB) and you have a perfect storm.

The Progressive Left and Israel's Right to Exist

#1  To me, the Progressive Left has no right to exist.

Israel had a right to exist before any of the moslem fools or Marxists even existed.

Hittites Canaanites were destroyed for a reason, and that type of annihilation was not used often in these thousands upon thousands of years.

It is a sorry example the ignorant use to make moral relative decisions surrounding Israel.

They are all wrong and they all should read the Bible.
Or make everything worse like they do, being pitiable dung assed creatures that liberals and Islamist are.

Chris Mintz Defies The Age Of The Beta Male
[THEFEDERALIST] Too often these days we hear about weak modern men, so-called beta males who are unwilling to risk their safety on another’s behalf. The embodiment of this new archetype was the man who did nothing as a man stabbed another man to death with a pocket knife on a crowded Washington DC, subway car the afternoon of July 4, and then took to Reddit to justify his cowardice.

Every man and woman should be able to say that we hope we’d react the way Mintz did last week.
Some readers were outraged when I wrote about that—not at the bystander but at me, for suggesting he was a coward and that I would have reacted differently. I do not claim to know how I would have reacted, either in that subway car or the community college in Oregon. None of us do. But every man and woman should be able to say, clear-eyed and without hesitation, that we hope we’d react the way Mintz did last week. He is the opposite of the beta male who defends his refusal to act, utterly dependent on the courage of others.

I say “beta male” to provoke, but also to describe. In our egalitarian age, it’s in vogue to say men should not be manly, they should not necessarily possess virtues like courage or valor, they should not “mansplain” things. Manliness is the legacy of a sexist past, we’re told, the mark of white male privilege, and should be discouraged from a young age. Indeed, many of our schools buy into this and punish boys, and sometimes prosecute them, for behavior that in an earlier time was rightly understood as natural and mostly harmless.

Expect More from Men
This weekend, in fact, The New York Times style section ran an odd piece entitled “27 Ways to Be a Modern Man” that exemplifies this view of masculinity. “The modern man has no use for a gun,” opines the author. “He doesn’t own one, and he never will.” “The modern man cries. He cries often.” In case it isn’t perfectly clear that this modern man is a rather fragile creature: “On occasion, the modern man is the little spoon. Some nights, when he is feeling down or vulnerable, he needs an emotional and physical shield.”

In a mass shooting on a college campus it’s most likely the men who will need to rush ahead and barricade the door.
This is nonsense—and not because “real men don’t cry” or some such, but because it assumes there is no significant difference between men and women, no virtues or qualities that can properly be called masculine or feminine. In an era when identity is ever malleable, when Bruce Jenner can decide one day he is Caitlyn, or when marriage between a man and woman is no different than marriage between two men, it’s understandable that some would deny there is any such thing as “masculine” traits or virtues.

But it is nevertheless wrong. Most men have a natural instinct to protect others, in part because men are naturally stronger than women, as a recent Marine Corps study found when comparing the performance of all-male units with mixed-gender units. That doesn’t mean women can’t be strong or heroic, but it does mean that in a mass shooting on a college campus it’s most likely the men who will need to rush ahead and barricade the door. America should expect that from her men, and men should expect that of themselves.

We Fill Our Culture with Garbage, and We Reap The Result
[RedState] I'm going to start today by venting, and I will warn you in advance that this is going to be a sermon, but someone needs to speak the truth for a change:

Another week, another mass shooting, another press conference by the President lecturing us on the need for gun control, and now Hillary and Obama are in a race to see which of them can be the most extreme in trying to destroy the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Rinse and repeat.

But there is something missing from this discussion, and it's a glaring omission that everyone knows deep down, but politicians are afraid to talk about.
