Several explosive devices found alongside Abyan road

...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. , found several of bombs planting on the main roads in the province.
According to the residents, the bombs were planted by al-Qaeda members on the side of the roads linking the city of Mudiyah and the area of al-Furaid.
The sources said the explosives were prepared to target a military convoy of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, which was on its way to the area.
A few days ago, an bomb went kaboom! in a leader’s military convoy in the STC militia while passing through the same district, killing the leader and wounding 6 others.
Since the launch of the so-called "Arrows of the East" operation on September 25, 2022, the Islah Death Eaters in support of al-Qaeda have claimed the lives of dozens of leaders and members of the STC militia.
