Bill Gates wins legal approval to buy huge swath of North Dakota farmland worth $13.5M after outcry from residents who say they are being exploited by the ultra-rich

Bill Gates has secured legal approval for his North Dakota farmland purchase

Gates' firm, Red River Trust, purchased 2,100 acres in the state for $13.5 million

But the deal drew scrutiny under a 1932 anti-corporate farm ownership law

Now state AG says the deal is legal, because the land will be leased to farmers

Gates is the largest single owner of US farmland, with some 270,000 acres

#5 If the land is not used to grow crops or graze stock at the usual utilization per acre rate, tax it at a commercial rate.

A number of USDA programs such as the Conservation Stewardship Program pay 'farmers' to not use their land.

Rage may know more about taxing the income.

#9 He will probably use the land to grow his crappy beef that nobody wants to eat. No real need to around here. There is plenty of roadkill available throughout NE Ohio. As long as they don't vaccinate all the squirrels, it is probably a safer and tastier diet for me.
