The USS Montgomery is an Independence-class littoral combat ship of the US Navy. She is the fourth ship to be named for Montgomery, the capital of Alabama

#2 I betcha the ‘mishandling’ meant the higher ups did not like the results of their investigation not matching their preconceived awoke notions of what happened

#3 The LCS have been having severe 'manning' (can we still say that?) issues where the crew is just too small. Automation just didn't replace a warm human body.

Now the key question: Did some woke "non-male rating" get upset that they were told to "Suck it up and get back to work, sailor!" when everybody else was being worked like a dog?
