#7 One aspect of the Hindu/Muslim conflict on which I must agree with the Muslims is beef. I cannot fathom why people would want to deny themselves such a valuable source of protein.

#8 You wouldn't want to eat our cows if you saw how most farms kept the darn things. I can have myself all the beef I want in muslim localities, anyone can. Buffalo's allowed, cheaper and what most muslims eat. It's only banned in hindu majority areas with some religious history, such as I imagine pork would be in jerusalem ? The better hotels and restaurants all still serve imported beef, from Tennessee cow to Wagyu. Of course that's expensive. But the beef from most local cattle ? You'd get more protein out of a roadkill iguana.

Beef is practically staple in the North East, and those cattle are raised well. Which is why a Naga grunt can wrestle two Sikhs to the ground with one hand tied.

There is a conflict, AU. But it's not for diet. The muslims have a habit of demanding everything their way, despite local beliefs or the majority will. If it's not about a certain food product it'll be about family laws. The majority seeks to keep this minority in check, un-empowered and preferably without much purchasing power. Since beef is so important to muslims, the State which doesn't really care about cows
saw it as a way to shut down half the muslim owned unregulated meat and leather industry, and put restrictive burdens on the trade. They roused the hindu rabble to target butchers and sellers of beef using the 'cow is our mother' doctrine through fringe frothers of the hindu kind.

Of course some states have outright banned it, the local administrations falling over each other trying to please what they think is a fanatic hindu PM.

#10 ☺ More like a nuthouse, where if you want to stay on top you have to be the best nutter around. Gawd knows how long it'll stay this way.

But the humblest, wisest and most God loving christian communities are in India. It's the spiritual echoing the logos, something to be seen. Many of them poor, but rich in spirit.
